So someone stole my thunder about the BIG EVENT happening next week. This week is still mostly empty because of that, but there is one thing of fairly major significance.
Alignments/conjunctions/etc. don’t have to be total eclipse level perfect to have astrological significance (otherwise we’d have even less to go on), so that breath of possibilities allow for the BIG EVENT to be happening for a few days prior to the closest point, which means on Thursday, the Moon is going to temporarily move into position along with Jupiter and Saturn. This indicates the tipping point or proximate cause of said BIG EVENT, so if the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn was WWI, then the moon passing between would be the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Or even more like that disastrous date when Katya told Gavrillo that he was too boring and unmanly to sleep with, and really hot women preferred bad boys, preferably ones bad enough to knock off hereditary nobles over the rank of Count.

Gov Greaseball finally got his first real questions this week at his COVID pressers. They are finally started to get a wee bit worried that the recall effort might possibly succeed (I don’t think it will but I am still getting a few signatures). If we had a real second party in this state they would be pushing with all of their resources and might right now to get the required signatures to make this happen. I don’t doubt that a well funded recall effort might actually work.

I had never heard of it before coming to NY. Here, it and Stella Artois are ubiquitous as the on-tap alternative to the ABInbevMillerCoors fare. I liked it well enough. I’ve never tried the chocolate porter but I will if I see it; my taste in beers skews heavily towards porters and stouts.
Yuengling has partnered with Molson Coors to expand their production and distribution. The chocolate porter was released as a draft only offering last year, and packaged this year, it was done with Hershey’s chocolate.
Yuengling Porter is a decent beer. I never had the chocolate version.

1st try on the brick pizza oven was successful but is not there yet. Better than the regular oven, but it wasn’t reaching 700 degrees. I’m going to try again this afternoon by swapping out the lower 4” thick concrete paver the pizza stone sits on with a steel grate. That should do the trick of heating the stone to 700 or 800 degrees. The build directions called for that concrete paver (joker weighs 60 lbs), but it just absorbs too much heat before it reaches the stone.

Maybe 45 minutes…until three oak logs burnt down to coals. At that point, I noticed the temp was dropping on the stone so threw some more logs in and started the pizza. I used my temp gun to measure and the bottom quarter of the concrete paver was hitting ~750 degrees and this dropped down to about 450-500 by the top quarter/surface.
I also put some large coals on top of the paver next to the pizza when it was clear the oven temps weren’t going to reach 700 (there’s another paver on top that traps heat around the pizza). That wasn’t ideal but helped a great deal. I think using the grate this time will let the stone absorb enough heat.
Have you tried starting the fire on the cooking surface pushing it back and brushing clean for cooking? (I watch a lot of pizza cooking on youtube)

A viral video shows a family being booted from a United Airlines flight because their 2-year-old daughter refused to keep her face mask on.
Eliz Orban said in an Instagram video posted Friday that she, her husband and their toddler were set to fly from Denver into New Jersey’s Newark International Airport when they were ousted from the plane over the coronavirus precaution.
“We just got kicked off the flight because our 2-year-old would not put on a mask, and we tried,” said a teary Orban in the video.
Orban also posted footage from the flight of her husband trying to loop the mask’s straps over the ears of the squirming tot, who was having none of it.
“Come here, you have to put this on,” Orban’s husband coaxed in vain, as the little girl covered her mouth with her hands. “You have to.”
After a cut into the video, a member of the flight crew approached the family.
“Hello, sir, I’m going to have to ask you to grab your belongings and exit the aircraft,” the man told Orban’s husband.

Citing the COVID-19 crisis and its economic impact across New York City, the historic 21 Club in Manhattan will temporarily shut its doors for the “foreseeable future,” leaving scores of workers out of a job for now.

My stepson and his pregnant fiancé were planning to come visit us in San Diego in January, before she is too heavily pregnant and before they have a newborn to complicate travel. It was going to be a nice “last huzzah” vacation before they become parents.

I couldn’t roll my eyes hard enough to get my wife to look past the authority of the doctor. Couldn’t blame her too much, though. I wasn’t looking forward to traveling in this lockdown climate, either.
Now it looks like stupid lockdowns and travel bans will keep them in Minnesota indefinitely.

Shut-in wife wanted to get out of the house for some brunch, libation, and some window shopping in the big city. While we eating outside, a small plane flew around a couple times. It has a banner that read, “Osshoff – He’ll raise your taxes sky high”. I chuckled.
