And a New Year Dawns
I hope you all had a lovely New Year’s Eve. And now, here we are…in a world that is pretty much just like the one we left behind yesterday.
Just wait until after the inauguration!
On this day in history
1622: Papal Chancery adopts January 1 as beginning of the year
1673: Regular mail delivery begins between NY & Boston. (And yet, WebDom’s Christmas gift to me still hasn’t arrived.)
1724: Glassblower Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit proposes system for making thermometers and the Fahrenheit temperature scale
On this day in history
1776: General George Washington hoists Continental Union Flag
1788: Quakers in Pennsylvania emancipate their slaves
1862: 1st US income tax
Celebrating birthdays
- Paul Revere (1735)
- Betsy Ross (1752)
- Tom Hyer (1819)
- Tim Keefe (1857)
- Alfred Stieglitz (1864)
- J Edgar Hoover (1895)
- Country Joe McDonald (1942)
And a host of others
And music
Not exactly what we’re dealing with now, but this brings up many of the same sentiments.
Wherever the road takes you this year, make it your own and enjoy the journey! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you SP, and TPTB, and the rest of the great people here!
Back atcha!
In addition to Keefe, today is also Hank Greenberg’s birthday, surprised OMWC let you miss that one. Also Dallas Keuchel, for modern fans.
Damnit, Rob, that was intentional to see if he’d notice. 😉
Quakers in Pennsylvania emancipate their slaves
Not enough mention is made in popular culture of free blacks. The common perception seems to be that 100% were illiterate slaves for hundreds of years. But on the contrary, even here in Florida, one of the historic homes in town was built by a free black builder.
When did PA stop being a slave state? From the way that is worded, it sounds like the Quakers did it despite the law still allowing it. For some reason, I thought PA was earlier, possibly even pre-Revolution.
1780
So the Quakers waited 8 years to comply with the law?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Act_for_the_Gradual_Abolition_of_Slavery
Makes sense.
There was certainly an anti-slavery movement in PA in pre-revolutionary times.
Quakers had formed an anti slavery group in the 16th century, although it appears to have focused on changing minds rather than passing legislation.
1688 – Quakers in Germantown, PA (now part of Philly) petitioned the Quaker elders to end slavery. This was the first anti-slavery petition in America. I always look back with pride that one of my distant kinfolk, Garret Hendricks, was one of the four people who signed the petition. It was a thrill to visit Haverford College Library archives and be able to hold in my hand something signed by a family member over 300 years ago.
1600s. Not 16th century.
Derp.
Happy New Years to all.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!!!! 2021… god I’m old.
*OMWC and Fourscore laugh*
Happy New Year
I for one, celebrate the birth of our globalist overlord and all around better than us, the United Nations.
You can’t fool me! It was aliens what done it!
I’ve been walking in circles my whole life, minus the times I’ve been backing up.
/Not an alien
Wow, SP throws down the gauntlet on the morning links and sets the tone for the new year!
Wife and I are watching The Man in the High Castle, and love the sleaze-bag portrayal of birthday boy J. Edgar.
He certainly deserves it
We finished watching it a couple of months ago. I was so pissed off with the full-on wokeness at the end. It was as if the writers just decided to shit all over it and walk away smiling. My wife and I agreed we should have never watched any of it. I have not read the book, so I can not compare the two.
At the recommendation of Hayek(?) yesterday, I watched “Operation Odessa” on Netflix. It was definitely entertaining. It sounds like Miami in the Early 90’s was the place to be! It was funny how crafty the cops thought they were when all I could keep thinking through the whole thing was “god damn these guys are all stone cold idiots!” “you need a task force for this?”
Lol, exactly.
Glad you enjoyed it.
The director has hinted that the making of the documentary was a story all its own, part of which included him going to Panama with $10,000 taped to his leg for bribes.
I don’t doubt it.
It’s all still here, I guess.
A British artist has created a series of breathtaking snow “drawings” by walking in circles for more than 50 miles.
He shoulda stopped to ask for directions.
But guys don’t do that. It is known.
Helluva circle.
It’s hackneyed but I’ll go ahead and post it anyway https://youtu.be/to2KasivROc Happy New Year!
Happy New year Glibs.
I passed out before midnight playing Fallout 4. Gf found me slumped over with my character spinning in circles.
We’ll be having the unopened bubbly with dinner tonight instead. Mmmm…filets…
I married a southern girl – we’ll be having black-eyed peas and cornbread (one of the few times she is 100% in charge of the kitchen) tonight.
I don’t think I’ve ever had black-eyed peas.
You’re not missing out.
I married the daughter of a genuine Louisiana creole swamp man. She’s making gumbo and black eyed peas. Got a big bottle of Woodford Reserve from the BIL for Christmas. It should be a good day.
Happy New Year to SP, to you other early bird miscreants, and to you lurkers out there!
I resolve to continue not drinking alcohol and to eat healthier.
I have no new years resolutions. Though this is not unusual for me.
Happy New Year!
My resolution is to expand the garden. Maybe plant some chicken food.
Mine are usually things like ‘go out to eat more’ or ‘see more live music’. Last year was go out to eat more. HA HA HA!
This year it is run 3 miles on the beach next Christmas.
Congrats ! Stick with it 🙂
I’m resolving to dress like a freak more often. So today it’s a fur collar, black sweater, leggings and hot pink suede Pumas. With black and white checkered socks.
I also resolve to say “no” more often and not give a damn if I am not being a people-pleaser.
Also I resolve to clean the house less often. I try to clean too much and it just adds to my anxiety levels.
I resolve to clean the cat boxes before my own evacuations if I can handle it.
I thought everyone got those new fangled self cleanin cat boxes?
Thanks, Hayek!
Happy New Year SP and all the glibs. And thanks for the forum.
Happy New Year to you, too, Tulip! And you’re welcome!
Our next panic
Lexington police are investigating an incident in the downtown area of Short Street and Market.
An officer noticed a large RV parking in a downtown parking lot at 7:40 p.m. Thursday.
Police said an explosives detection K-9 was brought in to the scene and it alerted to the vehicle.
——-
Lexington police officers made contact with the driver of the RV and did not find any explosives.
What if there were clowns inside?
The clowns were with the dog.
Gypsies, tramps and thieves were unavailable for comment.
Nobody needs an RV.
If banning RVs in city limits saves just one life from an RV bomb, don’t we have an obligation to try?
Let’s just pass a law so that our Heroes in Blue can search RVs anytime they want. Probably cause: they might have a bomb in them. If it saves one life…
why limit it to just RV’s?
Come on, they’ve got to start somewhere. RV’s are just the first step.
Can we finally dispense with the idea that Officer Fido is contributing anything useful to this process?
We’ll stop removing our shoes at the airport long before that.
1724: Glassblower Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit proposes system for making thermometers and the Fahrenheit temperature scale
what a silly thing to do
As always, tasty links SP. Many thanks!
You’re welcome!
We’re unworthy of such nobility
Chief Justice John Roberts found a silver lining amid the wreckage of 2020 Thursday, using his annual report to heap praise on the federal judiciary’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
In doing so, Roberts notably avoided any mention of the judiciary’s other historic challenges and turmoil, caused in large part by President Donald Trump, his frequent nemesis.
——-
It was typical of Roberts, the only leader of a branch of government who seeks to rise above politics and instead try, by his own standards at least, to do the right thing. It has earned him criticism from both right and left.
“Roberts rarely speaks publicly or releases public statements, but when he does, his words carry weight,” said Gabe Roth, executive director of the watchdog group Fix the Court. “So I had hoped to read a strident defense of our constitutional system, with an implicit rebuke of those currently trying to undermine it.”
The chief justice focused his brief end-of-year report, predictably, on the pandemic. But rather than reiterate the many problems it caused – the Supreme Court postponed its March and April oral arguments, and federal courts across the country were impacted – he emphasized the solutions judges and staffers found to keep the wheels of justice turning.
Yeah, okay. You’re a hero. We’re all heroes, now.
A celebration of the preeminent spineless jurist.
My scoffing has turned to white hot rage. Fuck that weasel.
OFFS.
His “own standards” for “the right thing” apparently don’t include slapping down all the EOs from petty tyrants.
If banning RVs in city limits saves just one life from an RV bomb, don’t we have an obligation to try?
You know how bomb-laden RVs get to cities? On roads.
Ban roads.
And save the planet! win win!
Finally! A practical solution from libertarians.
Ban roads? OK, but not Country Roads, right?
Just the ones that take you to West Virginia.
Mmmm, cornbread. I haven’t had cornbread in a coon’s age.
Borgias and Medicis. Can’t resist https://youtu.be/LszJ9sM3bbk
Happy New year everyone.
I’m hung over but nothing that bad.
I have leftover steak for breakfast.
Happy New Year!
We can pray 2021 turns out like this in the end. Fantastic links, SP.
Meh. Same as 2020 evidently.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EqigOzDW4AAR9vs?format=jpg&name=large
Cool article yesterday Straff! Perhaps one day you and I will have beers in a parking lot. After all of the nonsense has been put behind us, of course.
Thx, Festus. *Cheers*
It ends with a link to Glibertarians?
Wouldn’t be a bad ending.
I would opt for the happier of endings.
Thanks, Straff.
I would opt for the happier of endings.
Dozens of politicians in orange jumpsuits?
Lamp posts. Or swinging from an overpass on I-495 in DC.
/not really, Preet.

That gallery, for me at least, was much too melanin-unenriched for my taste.
#43 had a booty I liked.
Brings the pain! Thanks, Q!
Brings the pain! Thanks, Q!
Its like a double round house kick its so painful.
#1 in her gallery has a great smile. A great smile.
Happy New Year to all you Glibs out there. May your 2021 by happy, healthy, productive and profitable.
I don’t comment as much as I’d like to as meatspace has me hopping these last months, but I do read all the comments on my Monday scribblings and and appreciate them more than you all can know. I hope to have another year of doing the same thing. I still have some old Allamakee County stories to tell, and na few more Profiles in Toxic Masculinity in mind, among other things.
Thanks most of all to TPTB for keeping this site up and running. Y’all are sterling folks.
Have a great 2021, one and all.
Thank you animal for sharing your stories and look forward to what you share in the future.
Thanks for all the terrific writing, Animal.
Happy New Year to you and Mrs Animal!
Happy New Year all. My new year present was for my mid-level manager to wait until my manager retired to break her promise of giving me a promotion. Such is the politics of fedgov and also why I am going back to finish scrool.
Shit bird. You deserve better treatment than that.
I am an optimist and believe there is no such things as coincidences. That door shut for a reason and I just have to find a new door. It will all balance out in the end and I will continue to put in my best.
When the fedgov screws me over, it’s as part of a larger crowd action that happens to sweep me along with a bunch of other kulaks.
In your case, the fedgov has reached out and fucked you personally.
That’s gotta feel special.
Seriously though, I’m sorry to hear it, good luck in planning your escape.
Kinda like when I retired from the Army my unit told me they were putting me up for the next higher award than the usual award so it was taking a little longer than usual. Then after I retired they dropped the whole thing and I got nothing.
As someone who got my degree later (dropped out, went back about 10 years later, while working full-time), I think you will find you are much more organized than before and much less susceptible to the bullshit. It’ll be hard and exhausting, But a clear goal will keep you on track. Feel free to reach out for support.
Thanks Tulip!
^This. Especially if your in a program that primarily consists of others who are working full-time and went back to school.
I was dealing with the same bullshit at my old job of promised promotions never materializing. Going back to school threw open doors for me. My new company put me on the promotion fast track and it feels good to work for them. Funnily enough, I recently got a feeler from the old company and that also felt good to shoot down. Good luck on your new school/career journey.
I did the same thing, only my break was longer than 10 years, 13 actually. I was going to be a rock star you know. But hunger is a hell of a thing.
I, too, was on the 11-year plan.
On the upside by working while I went to school (and getting a few departmental Grant’s along the way) I graduated with zero-debt.
It’s been an interesting journey, worth it on the end.
*grants*
I wish my husband would go to school, because I think he would rock it, but he’s too busy hauling water to dig a well (working and supporting us).
Woke up to kids fighting and a new GlibFit resolution, but I am choosing to look at it this way:
I ACTUALLY woke up in a warm bed in a warm house with snow outside, having slept well, to a stimulus deposit in my bank account.
I am way too much of a Negative Nancy, so my goal every day is to figure out one good thing the day brings for everything that irritates me or pisses me off.
Happy New Year, y’all beloved degenerates.
My New Year’s Resolution is to check out as many cute young thing’s bums as I can without being caught doing it. I’ve had 56 years of practice so I imagine I’ll be fine.
I can look, not gawk or approach but in just the right acceptable amount as deemed by an arbitrary allowance from the wife in which I have no advanced knowledge of. In other words; Why I would never!

Why else do I exist but to serve?
I woke up sad and miserable, with an extra 600$, I’ll take it
That can give one a moment of warm fuzzies.
Happy New Year!
Likewise Monsieur Derrierre!
Happy New Year!
Good clean fun
Molotov cocktails and other objects thrown at law enforcement during a riot in downtown Portland on New Year’s Eve.
At around 7:45 p.m. Thursday night, police say 80-100 people gathered at Southwest Third Avenue and Main Street. Police said some people began to “engage in violence.”
According to Portland Police, at least two Molotov cocktail-style firebombs were thrown, and large, commercial grade aerial fireworks were launched at the Federal Courthouse and the Justice Center.
Some people tried to use tools to break into the Justice Center, but were not successful, according to Portland police.
Officers were attacked with large rocks, full size bricks, and frozen water bottles. Some officers were targeted by paint balloons that may have been laced with a caustic substance as it caused burning to the skin.
Police said some law enforcement officers suffered injuries, although no Portland Police officers were hurt.
According to Portland Police, officers declared a riot due to the violence.
They’re just a bunch of funloving kids, celebrating a brighter future.
Interesting how TMITE (outside of local rags) stopped covering this after they coronated Senile Joe. It’s almost as if they want us to believe that Commies will stop being Commies just because their guy is in charge now.
They should pass a law that states when there is a tax shortfall the last item that the city/state pays is the politicians’ salaries. That should motivate them to put the interests of businesses a bit higher on their “who not to fcuk with” list.
They’ll build a wall around Kabul on the Columbia to keep people in before they do that. NB: Detroit has lost ~65% of its population from its peak.
Obligatory. Note the date on the article; it’s not gotten better. A grim picture of the future for far too many of us.
Forget the betrayal, it’s the ‘Rona that dun gunna kill ya!

New year, same old attention whores
Dr. Anthony Fauci said in a TV interview Thursday that is was “inevitable” that a new COVID-19 strain has appeared in Colorado and California — and predicted its spread in the US, though “it does not appear to be more virulent.”
“We predicted it would be, when you have so much of it in the UK, which then spread to other countries in Europe and Canada, it was inevitable that it would be here,” Fauci said on NBC News’ “Today.”
“You’ll be hearing reports from other states and more cases in the state that is already reported. Unfortunately, that’s just the reality of the way these viruses spread,” he continued.
——-
“This just underscores the need to continue to put our foot to the floor and the pedal, about making sure we do the public health measures that we talk about all the time. The wearing of masks, the physical distancing, the avoiding crowds in congregant settings,” Fauci said.
“Don’t stop listening to me! Make me feel special and important!”
“This just underscores the need to continue to put our
footboots to thefloornecks…” Needed to be corrected for accuracy.“Unfortunately, that’s just the reality of the way these viruses spread[…]This just underscores the need to continue to put our foot to the floor and the pedal, about making sure we do the public health measures that we talk about all the time. The wearing of masks, the physical distancing, the avoiding crowds in congregant settings”
The logical syllogism here of course being that masks, social isolation and gatherings (outside of mostly peaceful protests of course) need to continue forever.
This shit will not stop until people stop putting up with it en masse. I’ll be right over here holding my breath.
On the bright side, I will probably be WFH for the rest of my career.
Just be sure your job can’t be done from somebody’s home in Mumbai.
I’m going to laugh when his book gets recycled into toilet paper.
The nation’s top infectious diseases doctor also revealed that changing the approach to administering the jab is “under consideration.”
“I still think, if done properly, you can do a single dose, reserve doses for the second dose, and still get the job [done] but there’s a lot of discussion about whether or not you want to spread out the initial vaccination, by getting more people vaccinated on the first round,” he said.
“One of the problems of doing that is if you don’t then get the second dose in time, you’re going to have a lag period. We know from the clinical trial that the optimal time is to give it on one day, and then, for Moderna 28 days later, and for Pfizer 21 days later,” Fauci continued.
“That’s what the data tells us is the best way to do it. So if you want to stick with the data, that’s the way you should do it. But you can make an argument, and some people are, about stretching out the doses by giving a single dose across the board, and hoping you’re going to get the second dose in time to give to individuals.”
On Wednesday, Fauci said he foresees the US achieving enough collective COVID-19 immunity through vaccinations to regain “some semblance of normality” by autumn 2021.
The science is, how does one say, malleable, depending on circumstances.
“It won’t be over until I say it’s over.”
Do what you like. What do I know? I’m just a doctor.
He’s the most loathsome creature since J. Edgar Hoover that ever lifted his head from the muck that bedevils DC.
“The nation’s top infectious diseases doctor”
I don’t know who that might be, but I know it’s not Fauci, who is a primary care doctor who hasn’t actually treated a patient in decades.
Don’t argue with Top. Men.
What entrenched bureaucracy?
Fucking htmls- how do they work?
Like magnets?
“As we get into January, the feeling is that we’re going to gain momentum to be able to catch up,” Fauci said, adding that he expected immunizations to become widely available to the general public on demand by April.
Assuming that the inoculation campaign progresses as it should through May, June and July, “By the time we get to the early fall, we will have enough good herd immunity to be able to really get back to some strong semblance of normality — schools, theaters, sports events, restaurants,” Fauci said, according to Reuters.
Ballgag Joe will make everything all better.
“get back to some strong semblance of normality — schools, theaters, sports events, restaurants”
LOL. You slay me.
Even if any of that shit even exists anymore, you think there won’t be some new boogey man hiding under the bed ready to kill us? Fuck off medi-tyrant.
I think a lot of people, especially in CA, are in for a shock when the lockdowns are lifted. They seem to believe that the restaurants and so forth that are closed are just waiting for the orders to be lifted and, shazam, they will all reopen. The number of small businesses that have and will fail is camouflaged at this point, and when it becomes clear, we’ll, I think it’s going to be worse than a lot of people believe.
Do you even Great Reset bro?
_Everything_ will be national chains. They couldn’t have devised a better scenario for themselves if they tried.
Socialists complain about concentrations and wealth and power (correctly IMO) and then proceed to elect people who institute policies designed to exacerbate it. Rinse and repeat.
“Socialists complain about concentrations and wealth and power (correctly IMO) and then proceed to elect people who institute policies designed to exacerbate it. Rinse and repeat.”
Cognitive dissonance is a feature with lefties, not a bug.
I don’t know what was in those pills I gave my dog to stop yapping at fireworks last night…but he is totally hung over this morning.
Heh, we gave each CBD with their meals last night and they are still snoring on their beds this morning. The cat though…looks like she is on crack with wide eyes most of the night.
Thats because there are dead people in your house within the spirit realm. They like to watch you touch yourself.
I fucking knew it!
That’s their problem.
“And stop touching yourself.”
“It is God.”
+1 King of the Winter Carnival
I need to contact your dealer.
Speaking of sports events, and the venues in which they are held; what financial consequences have been admitted to, as an effect of losing nearly all revenue?
Will the Federal reserve buy up all the bonds issued to finance those stadiums?
No need. Most of those bonds are municipal bonds. They don’t need customers, just tax cattle.
Ran a few errands yesterday, sporting my new “Fear is the Currency of Control” shirt. It got a mixed reception, which is what I was hoping for.
I take it was an icy stare from the Karens.
I’ve read that most of their revenue comes from TV deals.
On the new Forum, I figured out how to post an image, at least using the BBCode for an Imgur pic. I gather you can likewise post an image directly from your ‘puter, but I haven’t cracked that code yet. Thanks again, SP!
I think you have to have Godlike rights for Glibs to post directly from your puter, so you have to use a hyperlink to a website, that you do have permissions to the file you’re uploading, like Imgur, which is what I use.
Um, BBC means something quite different on some other sites. Just a friendly heads-up.
Beautiful Black Cat?
That is a lovely kitteh, though…
It said I have to login and donate 1 million dollars before I can see the kittah.
Happy New Year everyone. I got my $600!!!
Wut? I didn’t know this is also April Fool’s day.
http://gph.is/VwJxlG
I got the $50! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI7jC57GuZM
LOL
Happy New Year, Feliz Ano Novo, wokesters and deplorables!
But I’m not either one….
But you have to identify as something! 2021 is all about identity, identify yourself and try to get to the top of that totem pole!
“Fear is the Currency of Control”
That makes no sense. They beat us because they love us.
“Stop making me hurt you!”
https://www.aier.org/article/fifteen-signs-youre-in-an-abusive-relationship-with-the-government/
You can’t spell “caress” without “care”.
Not so much on the new year’s resolutions for me (I guess improvements to the lifestyle in furtherance of certain priorities qualifies as a resolution), but an attempt to clean up some of the slop in life. Tighten up the routine, increase the time dedicated to important things like health and family and God, less time doing things that stress me out, etc.
If I haven’t said it, Happy New Year’s to all y’all. My 50th birthday is in August, so I’ve set a few goals for myself by then. I looked like I was 50 when I turned 40. So I want to look like I’m 30 when I turn 50.
Join the club! I have the body of a young man but the visage of a gargoyle.
Happy New Year!

Yes.
I Finally figured out how to work that forum thingy, I’m an Rtard,
New Years Greetings!
Ingrates and doubters
A large percentage of front-line workers in hospitals and nursing homes have refused to take the Covid-19 vaccine, a hurdle for public health officials as the country struggles to roll out inoculations around the country.
About 50 percent of front-line workers in California’s Riverside County have refused to take the vaccine, Riverside Public Health Director Kim Saruwatari told The Los Angeles Times on Thursday. California is currently overwhelmed with cases as hospital staff in Southern California face a shortage of intensive-care units and have created makeshift units.
Vaccine development and distribution has been the target of persistent conspiracy theories and disinformation on social media, although it’s unclear how much impact this anti-vaccination movement has had on overall public trust in the process.
How dare they deny the gift lovingly brought to them by Saint Foochy and his minions?
Thanks to all the n00bs, long-time-no-sees, and regular degenerates that joined us last night!
Happy New Year SP and everyone!
Happy New Year, Kristen!
Happy New Year SP, TPTB, and the rest of you evil non-conformists!
Thanks for all you do.
It’s unclear how refusal by essential workers, who are prioritized to receive the vaccine in the first phase of administration, could further hamper the distribution efforts.
A survey of 2,053 New York City firefighters found that more than half said they would refuse the Covid-19 vaccine when it became available to them, according to a poll released by the Uniformed Firefighters Association this month.
Some of those firefighters may overlap with those who have already contracted the coronavirus and don’t believe they need to get the inoculation, Andy Ansbro, the union president, said.
The last thing our glorious new Empire of SCIENCE needs is people who pretend they are qualified to make their own decisions.
Crap on a stick! Snow is falling straight down, wet and hard. *Bow-chicka wow-wow* Looks to be a good twelve inches before this storm is satisfied!
This snowstorm looks serious. I’m sending Judi out with the more robust Japanese vehicle today.
Judi knows.
Better than falling sideways.
HE, I am watching Operation Odessa and I find it hilarious that Fat Tony classed up Porky’s – especially as they describe what he did – OMG
I will never look at remote control cars the same way again.
If I ever open up such a classy joint, I’ll have to expand on the idea and mount a double sider to a remote control helicopter.
Happy New Year!
Thanks SP for keeping the site and the forum running well and keeping us all sane.
Hahaha, or for what passes as sanity in these parts. 😉
Happy New Year, Kinnath.
So, this upcoming year for the family has an Alaska trip in the summer and a Disney World trip in December. Hopefully a few long weekends on the gulf spattered in there. Almost exactly 1 year away we’re heading for Oahu to celebrate our 5th anniversary on the beach we were married.
Anyone else have any big plans during the Coronapocalypse?
Oh… and MAYBE a trip to Nova Scotia in August for the Harry Chapin Festival. But with how the Canucks have reacted so far… I’d be willing to bet Canada is still no go in August.
I hope there’s a Zoom tonight because my 1/2 and 1/2 is about to expire. Need to drink me some more White Russians
Drank more is always the correct solution. That will probably be doubly so in 2021.
SP’s links have the best formatting! Happy new year everyone. Let it be known my last act of 2020 was cooking a frozen pizza and then dropping it on the floor. My fingers somehow missed the dish towel I was using and onto the very hot pizza pan. I believe it was a metaphor for the year. Burnt fingers as a bad pizza flipped in the air and landed crust down on the floor and then I ate it.
My first act of 2021 was passing out in my office chair. I really, really hope I signed out of the Glibs Zoom before doing so…
No. No you did not. We’ve all been there before, Sport! Just rub a little dirt on it.
Goddammit. Well, at least nobody drew a penis on my forehead with permanent marker.
I managed to make it to bed before passing out.
Ya, me too. Then the neighbors let off with the fireworks and woke me just as I was blacking out.
“and then I ate it.”
Like a real man!
Damn fucking straight!
“Burnt fingers as a bad pizza flipped in the air and landed crust down on the floor and then I ate it.”
Now that right there is true Glib style. Give this man a ribbon.
The worst thing with pizza is when you burn the roof of your mouth with it. I hate that. In fact, I probably haven’t done it in 20 years because it really sucks.
That sucks really bad. I did even worse once; bit into a hot slice and stringy HOT cheese dripped down onto my chin and caused a 2nd-ish degree burn. Was visible for days.
I made bacon and scramby eggs this morning. Wifey on phone with daughter. Raining. Beer in fridge waiting to be drank. Not sure on other food selections for today. Wife hasn’t said. I think I’m going to cut up the rest of the celery and get out the blue cheese and Cayenne pepper sauce and make a big bowl of salad.
Yesterday is the first time since wife and I were married (11 years now), that neither of us made it to the hour for a toast. I was fighting a horrific allergy attack and she seemed bummed and just gave up.
I’m out for a bit to take my yearly bath. I’m getting it over with early this year. I guess I now feel the need to make announcements like that because this site is my only life besides my wife, and she’s just annoyed with me because I refuse to sober up and act like a civilized person. It’s the only form of protest I have against this tyranny that they called 2020.
Is that the one where they make you clear out the toe-jams?
