One Woke, One Right, one Future.

“We groped painfully in our minds, not only to find justifications for the line laid down, but also to find traces of former thoughts which would prove to ourselves that we had always held the required opinion.”

-Arthur Koestler. Darkness at Noon.

The January 6th election riot of Trump supporters on Capitol Hill was wrong, stupid, and unhelpful. One woman was shot and killed by a Secret Service officer. And at least four others have died during the day’s events. The actions that day mirror the BLM riots; wrong, stupid, and unhelpful. And at least a few people were killed in those riots, though no one was shot by police officers as far as I know.

I have been told that Trump said something just awful, that he was endorsing riots or some such. I am not sure, see, as I don’t really hear “dog whistles”. Besides, my ears are still ringing from the harpies screeching about the BLM riots and Trump in general.

“The thing that critics of activists don’t get is that they tried playing the “polite language” policy game and all it did was make them easier to ignore. It wasn’t until they made folks uncomfortable that there was traction to do ANYTHING even if it wasn’t their full demands”– Alexandria Ocasio Cortez 12/2/20

For the hearing impaired: “They’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop,” she told him. “This is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop. And everyone beware because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop before Election Day and they’re not going to stop after Election Day. And everyone should take note of that. They’re not gonna let up and they should not.” (emp. added)

Or how about Nancy Pelosi:

“I just don’t even know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country, and maybe there will be when people realize that this is a policy that they defend,” (again, emp. added)

I mean, didn’t they just say, per the above, that this is A-fuckin’-OK?

No?

I mean, they are women, aren’t they roaring? What is the phrase these days, Yas Queen? Maybe Slay Queen? Or does holding a woman to something she said make me a racist? Wait, racist does mean holding a person to something they said, right?

I tend to take people at what is normally called face value. I do not try to read into something, call things Dog Whistles, take only my own interpretation of events. I am a firm believer in Occam’s Razor; “entities should not be multiplied without necessity”, or the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

You see, I am not the type to say that, for instance, people against abortion are only doing it because they want to keep women down. No, they think it is murder, they say as much and so far I have been shown nothing contrary to that. But I have seen some abortion advocates state, without showing any evidence of it, that people who are against abortion are only doing it, for one thing, to keep women down. Often, they add that it is only old white men. Which belays the information staring them in the face: that 41% of pro-life supporters are women. We can only guess as to the reasons for such denial, but it does not make it any less a denial of facts. Nor does it make them particularly reliable when it comes to other political opponents, such as Trump.

So, when they say that Trump has implied or dog whistled something, I take what they said as bullshit. If they had actual proof, a quote that was unequivocally showing what they say it does, they would present the quote. But every time it is words that can be taken any which way that the listener wants. Unlike two of the three above, AOC and Kamala Harris. The two of them were unequivocally for the riots, destruction, and deaths that happened this summer. Which includes a Federal courthouse. So, should I read into the quotes that they are advocating sedition, by the transitive power? I mean, that is what we are being told to think about Trump right now, what with his supposed comments.

One other thing has struck me, over the last two months, and that is where would Trump get the idea that claiming, correctly or otherwise, that the election had been a fraud?

Yes, a Democrat getting time on national television, lying about elections. And this went on in various forms for the entirety of the Trump presidency:

  • Questioner: “He is an illegitimate president in my mind….He’s illegitimate and my biggest fear is he’s going to do it again…”
Biden: “Folks, look, I absolutely agree.”
  • Hillary Clinton: “I believe he knows he’s an illegitimate president.”
  • Jimmy Carter: “I think the [Russian] interference, although not yet quantified if fully investigated would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016.”
  • John Lewis: “I do not see the president-elect as a legitimate president.”
  • Link to “ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT” bumper sticker:
    https://www.progressivebumperstickers.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=688
  • “Dozens of Democrats to skip ‘illegitimate’ president’s inauguration; Trump backers decry ‘tantrum’” (Washington Times story, January 16, 2017)

And what price did Adam Schiff, or for that matter any other of these Democrat bigwigs pay for these lies? Nothing. But we feel that Trump somehow is above? below? the lessons taught every day by the cable networks who daily carried water for the democratic party under the guise of news; CNN or MSNBC. Or the New York Times. Or NPR. Or, well, you take your pick, it is all one gossip rag at this point.

Now, let us think a moment about one of the last times that the building had been met with violence; in March 1971, a little over a month after I was born, a bomb was detonated inside the building where Congress meets. After a six-year investigation, it was determined that the culprits were a leftist group of terrorists known as the Weather Underground. And it should be remembered that these selfsame terrorists had assassinated and bombed across the United States during the tumultuous Sixties and Seventies, starting in the wake of the riots of ‘68. Many members have done time by this point, including Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers. These bombers and “terrorists” have since been jailed, pardoned, become professors, written books. So, actions much worse that what we saw the other day seem to have been no hindrance to others, why should it be a hindrance now?

So, did Trump say something? Yes, he always does. Did it offend the Mandarin class? Yes, like everything he says does. Did Trump learn it from his political opponents?

Yes, he did.

“And at least a few people were killed in those riots”

It’s somewhere around 12 – 36, depending who you ask.

    • Not an Economist

On Wikipedia there were maybe 3 people killed by law enforcement. 2 by supposed to be non-lethal weapons, 1 supposedly shot at police/national guard. 12 police officers have been shot that may be linked to the protests. Only a retired police officer died.

  4. Evan from Evansville

This is fantastic. A sincere thank you.

Absolutely perfect. I’ve been writing little paragraphs on my various FB (I know…) groups and there are just so many things to go over and ‘fighting’ their repeated lines is tiresome. For the record, I purposefully don’t ‘argue’ or ‘fight’ them. I purposefully am polite simply to give the observers something to read. This is usually wishful thinking, but in my main groups I have gotten a lot of good feedback and conversations.

This is a perfectly ordered and detailed long form of what I’ve been sticking my toe in.

Was it even a riot of Trump supporters?

It was a peaceful protest that fell into a trap. The Capitol police opened the doors, hundreds of people took advantage of a self-guided tour of the building. Some Antifa agitators were involved. But even if everything was done by Trump supporters, it was a complete nothingburger. I’m shocked that everyone feels that it’s absolutely necessary to condemn and punish harshly the people who entered the Capitol. The physical damage is minimal. Congresscritters were inconvenienced for a few hours. And then continued with their bloviating business later the same day in the original chambers.

    • Master JaimeRoberto (royal we/us)

The dead cop is not a nothing burger. The dead woman shot by a cop is not a nothing burger. But after a summer of riots, it’s not so bad in comparison.

      • Count Potato

Not sure how the cop died though?

      • grrizzly

        Okay. Mostly peaceful.

    • Rebel Scum

It was a peaceful protest that fell into a trap.

This. Seems to me there were a few bad actors that did a bit of ransacking (Trumpists, BLM/Antifa infiltrators or not) but by BLM standards the entire thing was exceedingly peaceful.

Ashli Babbitt. Say her name. Justice for Ashli.

The dead cop is not a nothing burger.

Justice for this guy too. (I heard about it but know no details)

      • LemonGrenade

My own newsroom had a long (and painful for me to read) debate over when it would be okay to start calling the people at the Capitol protest ‘domestic terrorists’. Zero sense of history, and when an old-timer with a more level head on his shoulders joined in and pointed out this really didn’t rise to that level, plus we’d seen far worse behavior from protesters over the summer, the response was basically, ‘that’s different because shut up.’ Thankfully, the final decision was ‘when the police charge them as such, then you may.’

      • Rebel Scum

the final decision was ‘when the police charge them as such, then you may.’

Sounds like the responsible position for anyone purporting his/herself to be a journalist.

      • LemonGrenade

Yes, but there’s a growing movement among the youngsters who want to drop that level of rigor.

      • Tejicano

“the final decision was ‘when the police charge them as such, then you may”

This sounds OK – but I can imagine the execution it would become “anybody at the riot charged with anything whatsoever” = “domestic terrorist”.

      • LemonGrenade

The editor in chief is an old-school journalist doing his best to keep the youngsters in line. I think he’ll hold the line on it, just like he did when they begged to be allowed to attend, not just cover, protests.

They’ll likely make a deal to avoid impeachment and him not stirring up too much trouble, which includes not pardoning certain people even if he’s so inclined which I doubt, will be part of the deal. Trump cares about Trump and demands loyalty while giving little in return, just look how fast he threw his supporters at the March and Pence himself under the bus. All the accusations of incitement were ridiculous but his behavior since has been horrendous.

I’d still take him over Biden and I don’t like Pence and, yeah, unforgivable but his denunciation of the marchers, and that’s the interpretation, who were just loyal everyday people was even worse to me. He should have called the rioters “a few bad actors” which they were. Pence can take care of himself while those people are on their own.

Pelosi is full of shit. She has wanted the mark of the beast to be applied to Trump from day one. Nothing to do with his asking people to try and convince (R)’s to grow a back bone. More lies. The election was a fraud, everyone is too pussy to say that out loud and the (R)’s only pretended to be fighting for the truth. I’ll give you wrong, but you really think the BLM riots are stupid and unhelpful? The riots are well organized and funded (unlike the Jan 6 protest) so wouldn’t exactly call them stupid. Given the current state of the country, I’m not seeing how the BLM riots have been slightest bit unhelpful to the Dem’s position and whoever is behind the funding. The BLM movement, including violence, has been incredibly helpful in furthering that agenda.

The Jan 6 riots were neither helpful nor unhelpful. Don’t be the beaten spouse blaming yourself for things getting worse after fighting back against your abuser. The politicians will pay lip service that the coming tyranny will justified by Jan 6th, but it’s coming either way.

Wheeler is pathetic. But Portland has gotten what it wants. His challenger in the last election publicly stated, “I am antifa.” That was the runner up. The city couldn’t manage to offer someone just a smidge to the right of Wheeler.

There’s video of a capitol police cop yelling at them to stay back. They just happened to follow him, and the camera crew behind him, up to the entrance of the chamber where they paused to take iconic photographs. Presumably they would gavel themselves into a new government and we would be bound to follow them unless our heroes could save us.

I have to remind her that all the other respiratory illnesses still exist and are still going around, despite what our medical overlords say.

The Dems are openly adopting Xi and the CCP’s social reliability score system. The CCP bans persons with incorrect views or low scores from aircraft and high speed trains. Didn’t he just lose to a loser? Now if he moved his legions of followers to vote for a popular primary candidate that would be a lot more competitive I could understand it.

Baker Mayfield is from Austin, which is near Texas, specifically the Lake Travis bedroom village where all Texas-Ex greats go to raise their kids (even though Baker’s dad went to Houston). He came close to setting the freshman quarterback record for D1 yards in a game starting for Tech, but his time would be short. Sitting out after a transfer, he would then start at his dream job: Oklahoma. His first real game was at Neyland and he found himself in quite a hole, but, to his credit, came back to tie the game and then win in double OT.

Southlake Carroll usedtabe where smart white boyz (often Cowboy alumni) went to play pre-college ball in Texas, but they have produced little pro talent lately that I know of (Greg McElroy won it all at Alabama; I think Chase Daniel did get some pro snaps late this year)

I had been fooled into the “Cholesterol/SatFat = BAD” line of BS until a year or so ago. Since then bacon and eggs are in heavy rotation in my kitchen. I’ve pretty much perfected the omelet. Blood pressure and lipids are down since then.

I assume your issue is different from what I had been told about heart disease for years .

      • C. Anacreon

By dramatically increasing the amount of fat in my diet while lowering carbs a few years ago, my cholesterol and triglycerides levels in my blood dropped to those of a teenager. Lost a lot of weight, too.

Too many docs out there are unfortunately still holding on to the old “low-fat diet” as the way to improve your blood levels, because they just refuse to believe the opposite is true, despite many recent studies. Not sure about your situation, but it may be worth considering if your doc is just stuck in the old mentality.

So much of this nation’s obesity, diabetes and cholesterol issues can be traced back to the date the government began using sugar-industry-funded bogus “studies” to create the high carb, lowfat food pyramid. In the 1950s, people even knew better! When i was a kid diners still had a “diet plate” which consisted of a hamburger patty, cottage cheese and a tomato slice, no bread. How that meal began to be seen as the opposite of healthy is when the nation went astray.

      • Tejicano

Another thing I heard recently (again, from Dr. Rhonda Patrick via Joe Rogan) was the impact of aspartame on the gut. They didn’t get into details but Dr. Patrick was telling Joe how aspartame changes the gut biome to create additional glucose. This means that most “diet” drinks actually end up making you fat regardless of the fact that the drinks themselves have lower calories.

      • hayeksplosives

Thanks, y’all, but I’m fully aware of the superiority of a higher fat. Lower carb diet. I’ve done it, l of st weight, and know that “if you eat fat you get fat” is hogwash. The FDA food pyramid is scandalously bad advice.

My problem is not a cardiovascular one. I still consume more fat than the doc advises, but according to lab results, it’s working for me.

Regarding the aspartame thing, I wonder if Splenda has the same effect? That’s what’s in Diet Rite, but it’s harder to find than Coke Zero.

Anyway, drinking caffeinated coffee is strongly encouraged for me, so I’m trying to get into the coffee habit again (within reason).

My recent fantasy is that Trump continues rabble rousing and pulls his followers away from the DNC-Junior Varsity (AKA: The GOP) and continues his schtick for a year or so. Then, when it becomes obvious that he’s too old to run again (and obviously too bag a target for the left), he finds an heir to his populist message ad starts a new party. In this fantasy the new party will draw most of the remaining GOP and some DNC supporters – people who liked his message but couldn’t stomach his style – and get an overwhelming majority in 2024.

Looking at the number of people who did vote for Trump and the number who believe the election was rigged – regardless of how hard the media tried to piss all over that message – I like to think this might be possible.

Given how ugly Harris is as a person, and the probability that we will have her in the oval office for a year or three before the next election to showcase her personality, this could be a viable scenario. Particularly with the huge number of people who voted against Trump this time because of his style if this new party can come up with a more appealing candidate with similar politics as Trump I think this could be possible.

    • straffinrun

They may just continue to pour all of their moral outrage into attacking Trump and go after him legally. In one possible scenario they get him locked up. Why would the mob back off? Who are they gonna replace their hatred of Trump with? They’re addicts at this point and will need higher dosage to get the same high. Except this addict has fellow addict judges that need the high, too.

      • Tejicano

Yeah, I would hope that a candidate with similar populist politics as Trump, but without provoking the Pavlovian rage that the media harbors against Trump, would give that candidate enough space to generate a huge following.

      • Master JaimeRoberto (royal we/us)

I think Tulsi is attempting to be that person.

She would have to lose her Hawaiian-based version of the RKBA (ie: guns R bad, m’kay?) to get anywhere near that place but if she could manage to do that she might just be the right person.

    • Mustang

The only issue is going to be reaching an audience. Was thinking about this earlier today. Since the Demo-fascists control all forms of media, they will simply refuse to allow anyone who doesn’t fall in line to reach the population. The only way for anyone to run against them is by having a physical town hall. That won’t happen since everyone will be social distancing.

Think about it. 2022 rolls around and we are still suffering lockdowns. Messaging platforms have purged all wrong thinkers. Nobody will host competitors except for obscure servers somewhere that have no way to reach a wider audience. TV media will not run ads that have any wrong think. Any semi-conservative candidates will be silenced by all widely-used media. They can try and gather people in a good old-fashioned town hall, but social distancing enforcement will end that too, or won’t issue the proper permits/exceptions to begin with.

      I hope I’m wrong.

      • Tejicano

There were over 70 million Americans who voted for Trump in 2020. Even if more than half of them will just shut up and take it after this that still leaves well over 30 million people who would be looking for a venue to communicate. That will put pressure on the market to provide some space for that slice of America. I have to believe that will find a place for their views to be communicated.

      • Mustang

You’re more optimistic than I am. I’m seeing a lot of people I thought would understand rolling over and rending their clothes in anguish over our “sacred capitol” being devastated.

      • Tejicano

Maybe that’s only because I haven’t been in close contact with a lot of Americans for some time. I have a few friends locally and friends/family who I am in touch with online but I don’t meet many Americans outside of those groups.

Not quite sure why, but I started watching the old TV show Dallas recently. I remember seeing it occasionally near the end of its run when I was a kid, but never saw any of the early episodes. It’s corny as hell in the usual soap opera-ish ways, but surprisingly fun. JR truly is a fantastic villain and Larry Hagman was perfect in that role.

True story. The Soviet Union allows Dallas to show in the country because they thought it showed capitalism in a negative light.

But the people watching the show saw that the poorest most downtrodden guy in the show could still have coffee every day — something not possible in Russia — and lives outsides of work. Ordinary Russians became very suspicious watching the show of the premise that capitalism was all that bad .

Even when the ridiculous three-day lockdown ends, the mask mandate remains.

I was in Melbourne four years ago. In their arts museum there was a gallery denouncing the “conservative” hold on the city in the 1940s or 1950s. Something about bar restrictions or some such. I don’t remember the details; it sounded so bygone and irrelevant. The prison message has never disappeared. I have no idea why some Americans believe there’s something in common with Australia. And I actually like Australia; I’ve been there several times and visited most of the states and territories.

They have a mere week and a half to wait for inauguration, the capitol storming crowd scored an own-goal that the Dems could have let speak for itself while maintaining a dignified silence, but nope, they are acting like poor sports who change rules on a whim and create blatant double standards.

It’s going to be an expensive distraction. It puts the focus right back on Trump instead of on the incoming administration. I’d be pissed off if I were waiting for my inauguration and my own party flaps about dramatically clutching pearls and throwing a tantrum.

I have many questions about the vaccine but I don’t know where to look for unbiased answers.

      1) What type of vaccine is being given? There are three types, all of which aim to get the body armed with T-lymphocytes to fight the virus.

      A) the mRNA one, which hijacks the patient’s own cells and programs them to produce sections of Covid proteins to trigger immune response.

      B) a protein subunit vaccine (puts Covid virus proteins in the body to trigger immune response to those proteins if they are later encountered on a real virus in the body)

      C) a Vector vaccine in which a chunk of live weakened virus is injected. Could be a modified Covid 19 virus or a similar one that triggers the same response.

So which one is being given out? Can we choose? Can we tell by brand name (Pfizer etc)? Which ones have been studied? What corners were cut to pass this through FDA quickly?

How effective is it? How many shots do you need? How long is it effective? Has the mRNA thing been tried before? (it makes me nervous.)

    https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/u-s-army-investigating-officer-who-led-group-to-d-c-trump-rally-turned-riot/

The Army is investigating a psychological operations officer who led a group of people from North Carolina to the rally in Washington that led up to the deadly riot in the U.S. Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump.

Commanders at Fort Bragg are reviewing Captain Emily Rainey’s involvement in last week’s events in the nation’s capital, but she said she acted within military regulations and that no one in her group broke the law.

And while the Washington Post clumsily attempts to blame President Trump for the violence – despite the President calling for “peaceful” protests and the “cheering on” of Congressmen – their own article admits the “first wave of protesters arrived at the Capitol about 12:40pm.”

President Trump’s speech didn’t conclude until 1:11pm, and with at least a 45-minute walk between the two locations with crowd-related delays, that would put the first people from Trump’s speech at Capitol Hill no earlier than 1:56pm – a full hour and sixteen minutes after troublemakers arrived.

In fact, rioters who breached the perimeter would have had to leave before Trump’s speech even began (at 12pm precisely) to make it in time for the events as they are detailed by authorities.

    Huh.

    • limey

Well, I imagine that, whoever they were, there were potentially some who were more interested in protesting at the Capitol rather than standing around for the speech, so it doesn’t seem all that weird. I’m just speculating and rationalizing, of course. No idea.
