Thursday Afternoon “We Need a Little Christmas” Links

You know you do.

IT’S NOT EXACTLY A PRESENT, BUT: Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a crucial swing vote, doesn’t sound like he’ll give the green light to President Joe Biden’s planned $2 trillion social and climate spending plan anytime soon. Money we don’t have for shit we don’t need.

CALIFORNIA CHILDREN ARE PROPERTY OF THE STATE: Children at Barack Obama Global Prep Academy in Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) were apparently vaccinated against the coronavirus without the consent or knowledge of parents, according to a mother. “The lady that gave him the shot and signed the paper told my son, ‘Please don’t say anything. I don’t want to get in trouble,’” Maribel Duarte, the mother of a 13-year-old boy who was clandestinely vaccinated, told NBC4.

PERPETUAL VACCINATION PUBLIC HEALTH STATE: Three is the new two.

THE STREISAND EFFECT, HOW DOES IT WORK? Yorktown, VA boat captain who won a festive lights display after decorating his boat with illuminations saying ‘FJB, Let’s go Brandon’ was stripped of his gong two days afterwards after the message was deemed overtly political. “If we allowed politics to interfere with events, we would also lose our nonprofit status, and all these organizations below us would be dissolved,” said Yorktown Foundation Director Walt Akers. Or maybe you’re just a big, giant pussy, Walt.

ONE WAY, OR ANOTHER: President Biden will sign an executive order that demonstrates how the United States will leverage its scale and procurement power to lead by example in tackling the climate crisis. The executive order will reduce emissions across federal operations, invest in American clean energy industries and manufacturing, and create clean, healthy, and resilient communities. What they can’t achieve through legislation, they will smuggle in via the back door of federal contracts. We have recently seen how any company that sells so much as a paper clip to the FedGov is adopting company-wide vax mandates, even for non-FedGov servicing divisions. This will be an effective mandate on electric utilities because there is no way to know whether the Kilowatt-hour consumed by the FedGov was generated using icky coal, or virtuous solar. The word “nuclear” does not appear in the press release.

GIFT IDEA FOR THE GLIB IN YOUR LIFE: Virtue Signal, the game of social justice. (h/t to AWOL Glib ChipWooder who supported this back when it was just a Kickstarter glimmer)

HOLIDAY GIVING OPPO: Patriot Freedom Project offers financial support to the families of those imprisoned on charges related to their alleged participation in the activities of Jan 6. This is direct support for the families, not a legal defense fund for the defendants.

Money we don’t have for shit we don’t need.

C’mon, man. It’ll cost zero dollars.

    • Rat on a train

Americans are just unwilling to pay for things they don’t want.

    • Chafed

      An absolutely, infuriating statement.

      • Nephilium

Can I return it for store credit?

      • The Gunslinger

        Will you accept Kohl’s cash?

      • Pope Jimbo

        Helmut Kohl?

Is it still worth something? I have a jar full of Merkel Nickels, but all I can buy with them are windmills and solar panels.

      • hayeksplosives

        Maybe Solyndra stock?

  2. Ted S.

The executive order will reduce emissions across federal operations,

    Cut emissions by cutting spending.

    • juris imprudent

That would at least reduce the energy consumption of the money printers.

  3. Rat on a train

If you send your kid to Barack Obama Global Prep Academy, you have already consented to whatever they want.

    • Chafed

Maybe, just maybe, one set of parental eyes will get opened.

      • Rat on a train

        This time will be different.

      • Animal

        Ha! Ha ha ha ha!

        …Oh, wait, were you serious?

      • Zwak, All dressed up in his ridiculous seersucker suit

Yeah, I think maybe the brown eye.

      • Lackadaisical

Almost spit my dinner all over my computer, thanks.

    • Lackadaisical

It takes a village, and if your village decides to forcibly vax you, well. It was for your own good.

  4. Yusef the Unclean

Just another news day, shit flying all over, money we don’t have for things we don’t need, sheesh,

So, LawGlibs, what type of crime is this? I’d think it would count as assault, but I’m not certain. I doubt anyone will be prosecuted, since it’s California, but I’m curious what they should be prosecuted for.

    • UnCivilServant

Child abuse, attempted murder, assault, and whatever it is when they commit a crime under the color of law.

      Oh and racketeering.

    • Ted S.

Wouldn’t it technically be battery, since physical contact was initiated?

I’d also guess intent to defraud.

    • Chafed

Off the top of my head, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress for the kid. Negligent infliction of emotional distress for the parent.

    • Ownbestenemy

And the kid supposedly had a medical condition, I think asthmatic

    • EvilSheldon

      If it were my kid?

Probably kidnapping and premeditated murder with a special circumstances modifier…

      • Pope Jimbo

        special circumstances

Dyslexia made me read that as “special circumcision”. Which I think is also on point.

      • Animal

Well, if I just glans at it, I’d say things are certainly coming to a head.

  6. Count Potato

“The executive order will reduce emissions across federal operations, invest in American clean energy industries and manufacturing, and create clean, healthy, and resilient communities.”

Almost all of it will go into biomass, or solar panels and windmills that take more fossil fuel energy to manufacture than they produce over their lifetime.

    • Tonio

Oh, there’s a lot of “biomass” in there, alright.

      • Chafed

It’s nice knowing my morning constitutional is helping to solve the energy crisis.

      • Nephilium

I thought methane was a greenhouse gas.

      • Count Potato

It’s true, most “green energy” is burning trees.

  7. Rebel Scum

According to Duarte, her son was offered pizza in exchange for the shot.

School always has pizza day. Kid needs to learn to negotiate.

    • Fatty Bolger

Kids. They’d sell their little souls for a slice of pizza.

  8. Gadfly

The word “nuclear” does not appear in the press release.

Nor does the word “hydroelectric”. That the two most reliable/efficient “clean” power sources are routinely ignored makes it hard for me to take the climate crusaders seriously.

    • Shpip

      Nor does the word “hydroelectric”.

      That’s a dam shame.

      • whiz

Give it up, it’s water under the bridge.

  9. Count Potato

So how long before their payment processing gets cut off?

    • Rat on a train

Virginia law enforcement officers should donate anonymously.

    • Tonio

I bet it chafes PayPal’s butt every dollar that they process for those people.

      • Zwak, All dressed up in his ridiculous seersucker suit

        Good.

      • Lackadaisical

They’re crying all the way to the bank…

  10. Gadfly

Virtue Signal, the game of social justice.

LOL. That’s a funny idea. Has anyone here played it? If it’s executed well and the game is fun, I might pick it up.

    • Plisade

I have, but that was when it first came out, so not sure if this version is different. The rules were complicated (but so is being woke, so…), but once play started it kinda made sense…? Didn’t actually finish the first and only game my kids and I tried, unfortunately.

That said, it *is* really funny, and a great concept. I just think they had the wrong number of cards for each category and the rules should’ve been tightened up. I guess we should try to play again.

      • DEG

There are some updated rules. From what I remember the rule changes were mostly clarifications/fixes. I don’t remember all of what changes. Plisade, if you played an early enough version they might have fixed the things you think needed tightening up.

It’s been a while since I played it. It is a fun game.

Oh, I have an expansion pack of extra cards. The Problematic Card Pack. I think that’s the one with that has the Rooftop Korean card.

I have not played the Deplorables expansion even though I have a copy of it. That’s an add-on to Virtue Signal.

      • Plisade

Thanks for that update! I will order the latest and try again. Gotta support this worthy effort.

      • DEG

The new rules are up on the website hier.

      • Gadfly

Thanks for the feedback, both of you!

      • hayeksplosives

I bought the original and 2 expansion packs to hide until Christmas. It’s the only surprise I have since we pretty much “gave ourselves” a TV for Christmas.

  12. Drake

    Sorry for early off topic.

Sold our house today. What a weird process it is now. It took about 4 weeks. The first week we got an offer sheet half filled out with money coming for a Dominican bank and a lender we never heard of – that didn’t sound great. Last week we got an offer from a couple with literally no money who had an approved loan for basically the full value of the house and we would have to pay their closing costs. Finally, yesterday two different couples showed up who were serious. The better offer was $5 over listing price and a guarantee that they’d cover up to $20k over appraisal if it came in low. The other offer was $30k over list but only promised $5k over appraisal.

Since there is no way our house would appraise for the last offer, we took the one that was $5k over list.

    • Chafed

Congratulations. What state are you moving to?

      • Drake

        South Carolina. Renting at first.

    • Sensei

      Congrats for fleeing NJ!

    • Sean

      Congrats.

    • UnCivilServant

Are that many people fleeing New York that you have a stack of offers like that?

I mean who else would buy a house in NJ?

      • Drake

The buyers are moving back here from Colorado.

      • Fatty Bolger

Real estate market is still nuts, you just don’t hear about it as much because it’s become the norm.

      • Lackadaisical

We got an offer that was 50K above asking (In NY), no inspection. But the bank/loan vehicle was questionable, so we didn’t actually go that route, as we had other good offers as well without the bank risk.

      • Drake

It’s hard to discern the bs offers from the real ones.

And another mortgage crisis is inevitable. I saw people approved for huge sums who have no business borrowing that kind of dough.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

The amount they’ll loan me at 0% or 5% down is absurd. Multiple times what would be responsible.

    • Count Potato

      Congrats!

    • DEG

      Congratulations!

    • Ghostpatzer

      Congrats on getting out!

    • Animal

      Congrats! Great feeling, innit?

      • Drake

        Yes it is.

        Thanks everyone.

    • hayeksplosives

      Yay! Good for you.

We are in the closing process too. The buyer’s loan is approved and we’ve signed about everything on DocuSign.

      Soon I will be mortgage-free…

  13. Scruffy Nerfherder

LOL. I’m pretty sure I know somebody on the board of the organization that hosted the boat parade. It’s based out of a marina that is literally a mile away from where I grew up.

And knowing him, he would be just fine with the FJB theme.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

And Walt Akers is one of those guys who’s on the board of about ten local foundations because he likes being in charge and feeling important. He works down the street from me in an extremely bureaucratic organization funded by the DOE. He’s got plenty of time to do the other stuff because they don’t actually work.

      • Tonio

        “Mr. Lebowski.”

  14. grrizzly

“I think it’s coming,” said McLaughlin, a partner at the national law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. The same companies that felt strong enough to require vaccines in the name of protecting their workforce will “apply that same rationale to the booster,” she said.

    Or maybe not.

GE, 3M, and Verizon have also stopped forcing vaccinations…

    • Chafed

      Oracle did too.

    • Sean

      #winning

      • DEG

        Sorry.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

        Thanks!

They’ve been slow playing it every step of the way, so I’m sure they’re still discussing it behind the scenes. With Oracle stepping back, I’m sure much of the tech sector is going to be following over the next week.

Unfortunately, my “don’t unnecessarily jeopardize your job” line for starting the exemption process is tomorrow, so I may be forced to show my hand before they backtrack.

      • grrizzly

My partner showed his hand back in August, never heard back from the HR and keeps teaching in person in a state school in–of all places–California.

      • DEG

        Best wishes!

    • Ted S.

Links to actual news stories/press releases?

    • kinnath

Megacorp has been very quiet. They literally waited until Dec 7 to say that those scheduled to be fired on Dec 8 would stay on the payroll through the holidays and would be fired at the new FedContractor date in Jan. They have said nothing about the injunction that was put on the executive order.

    • Lackadaisical

GE, 3M, and Verizon have also stopped forcing vaccinations…

      That is great news.

Also, Ethical Skeptic has a great article up about the start date of the Wu-Flu, its spread, etc. It’s really feckin’ good. By looking at the genetic profiles and mutation rates, drift, etc. for both Delta and Omicron, along with a bunch of other data, he calculates the release from WIV and one compelling theory about how the virus raged around the world. Fascinating.

    https://theethicalskeptic.com/2021/11/15/chinas-ccp-concealed-sars-cov-2-presence-in-china-as-far-back-as-march-2018/

If you *really* want to learn about this virus, this is the article right here.

    • Ghostpatzer

Thanks. Got as far as the nine key avenues, will attempt to finish when I have more time.

  17. DEG

    Rooftop Korean lass – Would.

I also backed the Virtue Signal project. I don’t remember where I heard about it. It might not have been here. I also backed the “Deplorables” add-on and their new project, Portland Occupied Zone.

Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a crucial swing vote, doesn’t sound like he’ll give the green light to President Joe Biden’s planned $2 trillion social and climate spending plan anytime soon.

Say no. Just say no to it.

LAUSD Interim Superintendent Meagan K. Reilly said in the September mandate announcement, “The science is clear – vaccinations are an essential part of protection against COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and requiring eligible students to be vaccinated is the strongest way to protect our school community.”

    Go fuck yourself.

With employer vaccination requirements already widespread, workplace experts say it’s possible some companies will convert their full vaccination requirement, now two shots, into a three-shot requirement as the omicron variant emerges.

Heh. A Boston area Swing dance I used to go to has updated their definition of “fully vaccinated” to effectively require booster shots. I will continue to not go to their dance and instead travel to PA for monthly dances.

Speaking of which: meet-up at the Oaks, PA gun show next week? Check the forums.

Akers acknowledged that the foundation should have notified Berger that his theme was inappropriate sooner, and said that ‘before [they] have any other event in Yorktown, [they] are going to make sure everyone understands we are government and by IRS laws that restricts us from having any political speech.’

And for this, the IRS will give them extra scrutiny.

    • Rat on a train

.@AOC: “Rep. Boebert, whatever her intentions may be for her racism and flagrant bigotry, needs to experience a consequence for her actions. […] It’s pretty simple. You threaten a colleague or you incite racist rhetoric, you do not have committees.”

.@CoriBush: “If we’re serious about tackling the systems of entrenched white supremacy that stain every fiber of this country, then we need to start right here, right in this Capitol. […] Lauren Boebert is a danger to […] her fellow members of Congress.”

“Liberal billionaire megadonor George Soros supplied $3million last year alone to a ‘dark-money’ group supporting left-wing organizations such as BLM that are dedicated to defunding the police, it has emerged.

The Foundation to Promote Open Society, which is one of two major grantmaking foundations funded by Soros’ network, Open Society Foundations, funneled a total of $3million in 2020 to the Community Resource Hub for Safety and Accountability (CRH), according to a search of the charity’s grant database.

Soros’ foundation bankrolls CRH through New Venture Fund, the largest of four funds managed by Arabella Advisors that pulled in a combined $1.6 billion in secret donations last year, tax forms show.”

I don’t think the “Open Society” Soros promotes has anything to do with Karl Popper’s idea of the Open Society.

Indeed, Soros fits exactly with the “Enemies” of the Open Society.

Why do totalitarian assholes hijack perfectly serviceable words like “freedom”, “open”, and “liberal” and apply those words to their exact opposites?

Just a reminder all, it appears that the girlfriend has survived the horror that is Covid, and we’ll be heading out tomorrow (if I try to keep her in the house another day, I may wind up stabbed in my sleep). A couple years ago The Plan was to invest in a business being started up by a Korean gal they knew who had moved to Alaska. The business was buying smokes on the res and then driving to Anchorage (?) and selling them there. You are living through The Turn if you think that burning down towns and looting stores isn’t the best way to promote social justice, but feel you can’t say so because you know you’ll be called a white supremacist. You are living through The Turn if you seethed watching a terrorist organization attack the world’s only Jewish state, but seethed silently because your colleagues were all on Twitter and Facebook sharing celebrity memes about ending Israeli apartheid while having little interest in American kids dying on the streets because of failed policies. If you’ve felt yourself unable to speak your mind, if you have a queasy feeling that your friends might disown you if you shared your most intimately held concerns, if you are feeling a bit breathless and a bit hopeless and entirely unsure what on earth is going on, I am sorry to inform you that The Turn is upon you.”

I grew up in the 60s and 70s when the “left” pushed for civil liberties and about every freedom imaginable (at least those freedoms that freaked out their Ozzie and Harriet parents). The socialists existed, but the cold war was still real. So socialism was never well accepted.

It all changed starting durign the Reagan years when the left split into more socially-conservative blue collar workers who voted for Reagan and the grievance mongers who started taking control of the Democratic political machine.

There was no watershed moment when it happened. But the transition culminated with the election of Obama.

But, I remember segregation and keeping wives pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen.

There were certainly wins for humanity that happened back then.

Of course, those particular wins are also the root of many of the issues we have today. Winning the right way matters, winning from a position of moral authority matters. We did neither in the 60s and 70s, and it shows in the way gender and racial issues exist today.

On the Jussie Smollett front, NBC News was on as I walked in the house a minute ago. They reported that he was convicted on five of six counts. Much footage of Jesse and friends wearing masks and embracing outside the courthouse. All very moving .

NBC’s reporter tells me that he is not likely to get any jail time, since he does not have a criminal history.

This is the fourth NBC story I’ve seen in the last 48 hours. Every single one of them has taken pains to tell me that he will not be getting any jail time.

I wonder why they are doing that? I mean, I have my theories as to political motivations and how they are hoping to stir people up…. But my real question goes beyond that. Why are they doing that ?

They don’t generally do that. Someone gets convicted of misdemeanor crimes you don’t hear them saying they’re not expected to see any jail time. Heck, they reveled in telling me how car Tittenhouse was going to go to jail for 400 million years because he’s a mass murderer.

They always report it in terms of what the maximum possible sentence is. Always. “He faces up to 7 years in jail if convicted”. Always..

Except this time. This time, every single time they mention it, they tell me that he is not expected to see any jail time. And out of those four stories, not a single one of them mentioned anything about potential criminal penalties. Just that he’s not expected to go to jail. They never once said how many years he faces if he gets the maximum.

All of which goes to reinforce my supposition that they have every intention of using this to generate maximum outrage and attempt to use this as a racial wedge to get people to hate each other based on team-based race politics.

    Shorter cyto, they are evil.
