Does she just ignore all the people around her in place to keep her from sounding like a moron? Listen to it on a loop, let it play. US professor wins $400,000 payout after refusing to call trans student a woman
A public university in Ohio has agreed to pay $400,000 to one of its professors after it rebuked him for refusing to use a student’s pronouns.
In 2018, Nicholas Meriwether, a philosophy professor at Shawnee State University in southern Ohio, addressed a transgender student as “sir” when she raised her hand in class.
This prompted the university to launch an investigation into the incident. It found that Meriwether had created a “hostile environment” in the classroom.
The university delivered Meriwether a written warning that stated that he could be fired or suspended without pay for violating the university’s nondiscrimination policy.
Meriwether asked if referring to all students by their self-identified gender, and including a disclaimer in his syllabus that noted he was only doing so under “compulsion”, would comply with the university’s policies, which he was told would not.
He also offered to refer to the student by either first or last preferred legal name without using gendered titles, but continued to refuse to refer to the student as a woman.
Meriwether then sued the university, but had his case dismissed by a federal district court due to lack of standing.
However, in 2020, a three-judge panel from the sixth US circuit court of appeals ruled that Meriwether is allowed to sue the school, writing in a 32-page opinion: “Traditionally, American universities have been beacons of intellectual diversity and academic freedom. They have prided themselves on being forums where controversial ideas are discussed and debated. And they have tried not to stifle debate by picking sides.”
The judges, all of whom were Republican appointees, with two having been nominated by Donald Trump, added: “But Shawnee State chose a different route: It punished a professor for his speech on a hotly contested issue. And it did so despite the constitutional protections afforded by the first amendment.

Oh, you!
Since my wife, son and I didn’t have any loans all we owe is the interest on the loans we didn’t have, right? I don’t want to cheat the government.
Don’t worry, you’re gonna continue to make interest payments until all loans used to pay off the forgiven loans are also paid off,
These days anyone who plays by the rules is a chump.
But if you don’t play by the rules they can throw you in prison.
“US professor wins $400,000 payout after refusing to call trans student a woman”
I’ve looked at a bunch of articles, and not one picture of the student.
“Meriwether asked if referring to all students by their self-identified gender, and including a disclaimer in his syllabus that noted he was only doing so under “compulsion”, would comply with the university’s policies, which he was told would not.
He also offered to refer to the student by either first or last preferred legal name without using gendered titles, but continued to refuse to refer to the student as a woman.”
And neither of those things were good enough?
That’s how this is going to end. We’re going to sound like brits, referring to everyone by last name.
Nah, we’ll just refer to everyone as sport or captain. Totally non gendered that way, sport.
Sport is an Western Patriarchal construct designed to elevate men above women by assumptions that men are better than women at sport thereby reducing women to an inferior position.
Sure thing ya wanker.
Sounds good, Chief.

“Biden administration to cancel student loan debt for at least 40,000 borrowers. It could wipe out $3.9 billion”
I bet this wouldn’t be as popular if the headline read, “Biden administration to use $3.09 billion in taxpayer money to pay off student debt for at least 40,000 borrowers with graduate degrees from ivy league schools.”
Or “Biden administration gives $3.09 billion in taxpayer money to financial corporations”.
That’s even better.
How about this one? “Biden administration to borrow $3.09 billion, which taxpayers will pay back with interest, to give to financial corporations.”
Taxpayers pick up the $3.9 billion tab for 40K college dropouts loan debt. Prez says it would only be right ’cause they are unemployable and Dad threatens to boot them out of the basement.
That’s about $100K per person. I’m guessing these aren’t poor souls who took a few semesters at community college or went to the local state school.

“Traditionally, American universities have been beacons of intellectual diversity and academic freedom. They have prided themselves on being forums where controversial ideas are discussed and debated. And they have tried not to stifle debate by picking sides.”
They’ve been beacons of a diverse group of ideas, from Marxism to social democracy, and on the far, far, right, neoconservatism.

They have prided themselves, on what basis is not entirely clear, on being forums where controversial ideas are discussed and debated. And they havetriedclaimed not to stifle debate by picking sides. Submitted for consideration – the push to legalize marijuana comes in part from people who believe in the right to make your own decisions, but also also comes from two other groups: people who think marijuana is cool, and those who think it’s a good source of revenue and graft.
And of the three groups, I wonder which is going to be most influential?
Probably have a look to California for a hint.
Lol. They managed to drive people back to dealers and gave the cartels a reason to grow weed again.
Nice job, fuckos!
Sin City seems to have done it correctly, but then again, I don’t smoke nor follow the underbelly of it.
The Government of Canada (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Liberal Party and Trudeau Family of Canada) would like to be recognized for their efforts as well.
In Florida they somehow set up a system where only people who were already millionaires could grow or distribute medical marijuana. According to a friend who works in state government, one of DeSantis’ first acts was to eliminate that carveout. I’m sure this is the exception rather than the rule.
The first attempt at recreational legalization in Ohio was so bad, there were people urging voting against it to get a real recreational law passed. One of the most egregious parts of the bill was that the initial attempt specified the only locations where you could legally grow recreational marijuana, which all happened to be already owned by the sponsors of the bill (at least one story I remember reading from back then said that to get a plot of land, you had to commit $1 million to the group pushing the law). With no allowances for home growing or expanding the legal grow areas.
It got voted down. It’s currently looking like a much better bill will be on the ballot this fall.
IIRC, in NY the licenses are going to convicted drug dealers. I can’t wait to see how that works out. Or maybe I will have to, given how reliable some of them aren’t.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is openly lobbying The Walt Disney Co. to relocate its theme park from Orlando to his state over what he calls “authoritarian socialist attacks” from the Republican Party.
“Florida’s authoritarian socialist attacks on the private sector are driving businesses away,” the Democratic governor tweeted on Tuesday.
“In CO, we don’t meddle in affairs of companies like @Disney or @Twitter.”
Let’s ask Magpul for a ruling on Colorado’s business friendly vibe.
“You’ve just won the Super Bowl, what are you going to do?”
“I sure as hell ain’t going to the new Disney World in February. Fuck that noise.”
I thought we settled this. February is a great time to go to parks in Fla. I mean, to hell with Disney and all, but Fla is fine in Feb.
Yes, but going to CO Disney World in February? I’ve had business trips then and there were nicer days but there were also freezing days. And unexpected blizzards.
There are cold snaps for sure, or as we called them, pants and jacket days. If you live there though, you can plan around them. Still better than standing the ball/taco soup line waiting for a ride June through August. Oh the stench of foreigners and poor people.
I can say from personal experience that Orlando is legitimately pleasant all winter. Generally sunny ranging from tshirt to jacket weather depending on whether or not a cold front is on the way in.
Probably better weather there for the summer vacation crowd, but during the cold months wouldn’t an outdoor theme park be essentially unusable? Also the cost of relocating would probably make the Global War on Terror look like a bargain.
“In CO, we don’t meddle in affairs of companies like @Disney or @Twitter.”
Really, cunt? Because I bought some stuff from a guy who was forced to shut his gym down because of your covid-cuntiness.
Cunt.
To be fair, local gyms aren’t “like Disney or Twitter”. They don’t have a bevy of lobbyists to slip cash into politicians’ pockets.
No we just go after companies that want to exercise their faith and free association.
Don’t forget the bakers. They love them in Colorado.
Truly, these may be English words, but as he uses them, I have no idea what their meaning is supposed to be.
Feebly tacking rightward as he ponders re-election.
Isn’t that a repeal of socialist policies?
I look forward to visiting Tesla-SpaceX Parkᵀᴹ in Florida someday.
Did he name any examples?
Ah yes, Polis… Reason’s favorite Democrat because he plays video games.
I’m sure Disney is super excited to buy land in CO where they will be under the rule of the local, count and state inspectors. Finally they won’t have to suffer under the socialist thumb that lets them rule their own land the way they want.
Is corporate social media being exclusively handled by people acting like 12 year olds? What happened to professionalism?
Yeah, that’s kind of my thinking. *everything* seems so crass anymore.
It flew out the door about the same time as casual Friday.
A “responsible” marketing department would acknowledge the trend without stooping to talking about dick veins. Like maybe a video of the ripples being formed or something referencing the official name.
Or pictures of actual dick veins to show how they differ?

I applaud a show that not only has one, but two dick jokes seamlessly inserted into its arc.
Exactly.
It does seem like quite the coincidence that professional behavior began to decline at the same time as professional dress.
*buffs wingtips, adjusts tie*
A lot of them are handled by the same person in some marketing company, so that doesn’t help. A few years ago I knew a girl who claimed she was the person who posted for the accounts for the brands under her company’s umbrella. I think hers was Facebook, but I assume twitter, IG, etc are the same.
I remember when it was all the rage to hire a person just to handle social media. They always hired some late 20-something gal (who was always cute). They’d lecture about how the rules for social media were totes new and different and no way would they be listening to the marketing or sales department dinosaurs.
My guess is that the social media dept is still run by youngsters who think they know it all. And that the adults in the company are too chicken to haul them out to the woodshed to explain about how the real world works.
Thanks to you miscreants, I remembered what the date is, and told myself “Y’know, I feel like smoking something that I haven’t smoked in a long time.”

Today, in leg-breaking
The Democratic Party is considering banning its army of consultants from engaging in anti-union activity following a report that one of its pollsters had helped Amazon combat organizing efforts, according to a document obtained by POLITICO.
A union-drafted addendum to any contract between a Democratic Party political committee and a consultant would forbid the consultant — or any of its parents, subsidiaries or affiliates — from participating in an array of activities involving unions. That includes union-busting, aiding an employer in a labor dispute or lobbying against union-backed legislation.
A spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee said it is in the process of reviewing the proposal. But union officials indicated it was a sure thing.
“We appreciate the Democratic Party committees’ decision to amend their contract and RFP processes in light of reporting that GSG had been working for Amazon as they sought to defeat the recent organizing drive,” AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler said in a statement.
“By amending their contracts and RFP processes to exclude firms actively working with clients who seek to prevent or limit working people’s basic rights to act collectively or otherwise act against their interests as union members, the committees demonstrate their commitment to democracy and shared prosperity.”

“Our focus here was seeing what power we had to preserve” forced masking on airplanes.
Two thoughts:
Due to the apparent semi-literacy of whoever wrote that, it reads as if working people act against their own interests as union members.
Aren’t those “basic rights” to act collectively laid out in labor law, which allows companies to resist unionization? As long as the consultants stay within the lines on anti-union activity, how are they preventing or limiting those basic rights?
Consultants would have to certify that they don’t help other clients “persuade employees or workers to not form or join a union or otherwise discourage employees or workers from unionizing, or to aid a client (other than a union or labor organization) in a labor dispute,” the draft addendum reads.
It would also bar consultants who “assist clients to advance legislation, ballot measures or other public policies that are opposed by the labor movement or to defeat legislation, ballot measure or other public policies that are supported by the labor movement.”

I saw videos of flight attendants smiling and dancing as they ripped them off their faces and threw them in the trash. I’m sure a cunty minority enjoyed being a mid-air Nurse Ratchet enforcer.
According to Strawberry those were isolated and no way represents public polling that they have commissioned to say what they want it to say.
Just forget about all that strongarming we’ve been doing.

Good thread here:
“Today I voiced my opposition to CA’s #AB2098, which could lead to doctors facing disciplinary action if accused of spreading covid mis/disinformation. As I discuss here, repeatedly what was considered misinformation has turned out to be true. This bill is a threat to all of us?”

Well, I’m shocked.
“I am dismayed that Democrats are bringing forward bills that undermine civil liberties”
Because continuing to do something they’ve done for decades is so out of character for them?

“I don’t give a damn what some grossly unqualified Donald Trump judge said, I’m double masked and wearing goggles on this Nashville to DC flight. I had COVID in December. Y’all can KISS MY ASS about me not wanting it again. And any fool saying they don’t matter is a damn liar.”

No one said you couldn’t.
LOL!!!!!
But can we point and laugh?
Two loose fitting cloth masks and regular safety goggles, not chemical. He’s totally protected.
In the replies someone posted him posing for photos with his wife at a concert about a week ago, both totally unmasked.
I think he just wanted a photo of him which “accidentally” has the logo of his show prominently displayed twice to go viral, infamously or not.
^^^ Pretty sure it was a grift
Dear Roland-
Back in December I too had CoVID. In fact my pcr test results were ‘critical high’. It was likely the sickest Ive ever been, but I recovered. And guess what? When my partner ‘Jugsy’ got the ‘vid months later I was fine. I even tested negative. Embrace your immune system. It works. Now go fuck yourself, you self-important piece of shit.
Yours in Christ,
Tres Cool
If he’s so fucking scared, why is he even leaving his house, let alone jetting off to DC?
Dealership put a new tire on my car. No hassle road hazard warranty from the mfg. I did have to pay for the mount and balance. $37. Could have been worse.
Tech did a nice job and put the spare back and put the tools back in their proper spots too.
Sometimes people take pride in what they do.
They send you a video walkthrough of your car too. Showing the state of brakes, etc. Their little multi point checklist stuff.
There is so much loose ammo and empty cartridge casings rolling around in my vehicles that I hate taking them to the shop.
So earlier in the mark-down section of my Kroger meat (Tres Sr. calls it the ‘Rotten Meat Dept’) they had bone-in whole ribeye roast for $3.99/lb.
Now I have an 11 pound hunk of cow in my fridge and Im not sure what to do with it.
Also, Im trying to decide whether or not I like this.
I dig it.
Sounds like it could be an unreleased song from The Black Crowes’ “The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion” sessions but they let a roadie do the singing for a laugh.
Divide it up, vacuum seal it and then decide later what to do with it. If it was in markdown, its still safe but only a couple of days or so out from not being fine.
Today just became a very, very good day. My wife can really shop!
My best wishes for your liver.
Oh my! I have turned down some Pappy twice now cause I wanted other stuff for the house that we needed; like our backyard…I am a bit disappointed in myself.
A few summers ago, the Total Wines had a coupon where if I bought six bottles of Jameson, I would get $50 back. Nice way to get an even better deal on Jame-O than the usual Total Wines price.
My problem is that when I have bottles and bottles of hooch in the basement, I tend to drink more than I normally would. I think it is because I know I won’t have to do the walk of shame back to the liquor store. But it really makes you feel like a lush when you are out of six big bottles of Jameson.
Hope your self-control is better than mine.
Six nice bottles.
And on the seventh day, Juris the Imprudent found himself in the company of John Bonham, Keith Moon, and one of the many drummers from Spinal Tap.
She wanted the Woodford – for the bottle, I’ll settle for the booze.
The Buffalo Trace will have 2 bottles laid up as wake stock, 1 going to Burning Man this year, 1 open that I’m sipping on, and the last to be available after I finish the open one (which will probably be months, could be many months).
All of that and I think she didn’t spend over $300.
The author of a forthcoming article in the Yale Law Journal says:
“I write in defense of indoctrination: anti-racist indoctrination. Accordingly, the response to ‘indoctrination’ is not to insist that CRT is not in schools. Instead, CRT is needed in schools to resist the formal colorblindness inherent in the anti-CRT movement.”

I hate the world
At least they’re coming right out and saying it now.
“resist the formal colorblindness”
Because that’s bad?
Segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!

Customers fleeing Netflix, and this is how they respond:
https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/netflix-aims-to-minimize-password-sharing-considers-ads/
Oh how the times have changed for them. I wonder if they have any of the Blockbuster exec still working there…
Shitheels do ads, better lower the price to $5.99/month or I’ll be divorced.
*gazes upon hill to die on*
Ha! It will be $12.99/month and you will like it. You will also be required to watch at least 5% of Netflix original content and no longer be allowed to downvote certain productions.
I’ve never understood why Warner Home Video (or their successor) never took all the movies digitized for the Warner Archive and out them in one streaming service.
“Honey? It’s you or me. Pistols at dawn. Do you want me to grill a steak tonight? There’s a nice bottle of red in the basement.”
Wtf? Do his three adult children still live at home?
Yes. Yes they do.
Genius move. It will remind people like me that I am paying for an account that our family barely uses.
If they left things alone I would have kept paying it because it is easier than having to sign up for a month or two every year and then canceling it after a few binge watching sessions.
This is like when gyms decide they need to raise prices. Any extra money they raise must be offset by all the slugs who decide that they really aren’t going to go to the gym and they should just cancel.
Yep. It just instantly made me think…we don’t need Netflix.
Oh sweet, ads! They got my business back, I love ads. Interrupting the flow of the movie, mismatched volume, repetition: hellz yeah!
Surprised that no one has brought up this one yet.
What they love is the feeling of moral superiority. It’s like the Bible thumping church ladies of old, but given a massive platform.
Yep. “Where is your Sunday best?” “Girls shouldn’t wear dresses that show their knees” “Children should be seen, not heard”….it just transferred into them.
Yep. “Where is your Sunday best?”
Father’s wearing it.

Fantastic move. Now if people would stop being such cock sucking government drones and ignore it if appealed, it would make my day better. I am still leaning towards saving face with the base.
Woodchippers
They’re the fucking terminators. This won’t end until CDC parasites start taking dirt naps.
I’m ok with that.
JUST IN – CDC has requested the Department of Justice to appeal and reinstate the mask mandate on trains and planes.
For… a couple of weeks?
Talk about a power boner.
I would so very much like to see the appeal get whacked into outer space, and leave their “emergency decree” power nullified.
You think its just a couple of weeks? They were going to milk the extension as long as possible
The extension will only last until the next extension.
Just two weeks….
Milwaukee Public Schools could only tolerate 1 day of freedom
OFFS. Even NYC is only muzzling the pre-schoolers.
You think its just a couple of weeks?
The latest end date was the 3rd(?) of May. But you’re right. There is no reason to pretend they wouldn’t point to “OMG CASES!” and extend it again.
Disgusting. Government thugs as innocent victims. Fuckers should get the Nuremberg treatment. Just following orders, my ass.

“During the pandemic, the agency received more than 31,000 complaints about Covid violations.”
I’d pay to get a copy of the list of snitches.
Those aren’t snitches, they’re inoffizieller Mitarbeiter.
Oh, why is it so slanted? It’s from a leftist astroturf “news” front organized and funded by these people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabella_Advisors
Nuremberg treatment, Ceaușescu moment, I’ll vote for both, not necessarily in that order.
Important if true –
“If you are an intelligent and thoughtful young American, you cannot be a progressive public intellectual today, any more than you can be a cavalry officer or a silent movie star. That’s because, in the third decade of the 21st century, intellectual life on the American center left is dead. Debate has been replaced by compulsory assent and ideas have been replaced by slogans that can be recited but not questioned: Black Lives Matter, Green Transition, Trans Women Are Women, 1619, Defund the Police. The space to the left-of-center that was once filled with magazines and organizations devoted to what Diana Trilling called the “life of significant contention” is now filled by the ritualized gobbledygook of foundation-funded, single-issue nonprofits like a pond choked by weeds. Having crowded out dissent and debate, the nonprofit industrial complex—Progressivism Inc.—taints the Democratic Party by association with its bizarre obsessions and contributes to Democratic electoral defeats, like the one that appears to be imminent this fall.”

TRIGGER WARNING: Alleges an alliance between the progressive establishment and “crackpot free market fundamentalists.”
*looks at crossed sabers insignia, spurs, Stetsons of certain officers*
Huh.
LOL
“While Democratic politicians deny that they oppose enforcing immigration laws, center-left journals and journalists keep pushing the idea of open borders, in alliance with crackpot free market fundamentalists. ”
Well, there are people who are for both free markets and open borders.
There has never existed a progressive intellectual, all commies are dumb as fucking shit. Pseudo intellectual is the term we are looking for.
So, I am having this conversation and debate right now with my very intelligent SIL (son, not daughter, not sure how to write the diff) about who is more evil, Soros or Klaus. We are at an impasse because neither of us will budge from our own conclusion. So I need a vote:
Who is more evil:
a. George Soros
b. Klaus Schwab
Old and Busted: George Soros
New Hotness: Klaus Schwab
Part of my argument for why the correct answer is b. That’s not all of my argument, Soros is a lightweight compared to Klaus in the quest to become the new Satan.
Yeah Soros is on the decline.
He’s 92 and has been pretty quiet for a while.
However, looks like Klaus is experimenting with his 4th industrial revolution (4th Reich?) and has hooked himself up to something…
Well, his job of setting blue cities on the path to returning to 70s style crime and violence is done.
That sounds about right. Georgie is heading to his fiefdom in hell. Klaus has been called into the “light”.
Soros. He may be in decline, and may be dead any day (please, God!) but he has had decades to install his minions in powerful positions all around the world.
Also; at least Klaus is open about his plans. Soros has gone about his influence building behind the scenes as much as possible.
Won’t somebody think of the mask makers?
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/americas-mask-manufacturers-chin-100804364.html
Hey, the buggy whip makers deserved sympathy too, but not a bailout.
America’s buggy whip drivers? Why are they all located in China?
*gets on Amazon*
Hey, Chee, are all your masks made in the USA?
Chee: Yes, all our maks, made in USA plant in China.
Well, OK, then.
Well who needs to follow the law? Even the libs are worried here.
Legal experts who derided the Monday ruling as overly formalistic and divorced from the practical realities of a global pandemic say there’s good reason why the Biden administration should want to prevent a deeply flawed decision from remaining on the books.
But the administration faces two key challenges: First, the appeals process could drag out beyond any practical time frame and, second, the administration could lose again — but in a higher stakes showdown.
https://thehill.com/news/administration/3274441-biden-appeal-of-judges-mask-mandate-ruling-risks-backfiring/
The Democrats control both houses and the executive, yet persist in merely issuing agency orders instead of passing an actual law. Why is that? Completely stumps me.
Accountability?
Where you been, bro? It’s obvioulsy because Joe Manchin is a Nazi.
I advise them to go forward with it.
WTF is up with these cryptic Musk tweets about the Twatter deal? I ain’t got time for this shit, anyone know what that means?
Sorry, obvious answer is ‘tonight’. What is he plannig for tonight? Or just smoking a joint because it’s 4/20?
