WHAT? I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the hilarity of the massive pool party going on next door.

So, just, you know, drink and comment. As usual!

I've got an idea! How about we just stick to the Constitution as written and then the government can leave me the fuck alone.

    I am first.

    • SP

      Yes, dear. And?

      • Mojeaux

LOL … I posted “Who are you?” in the last thread as an existential exercise.

      • Mojeaux

        ?

      • blackjack

I yam what I yam and that’s all what i yam!

      • Rebel Scum

        I do appreciate a good thought-experiment.

      • Mojeaux

        Thanks, so do I.

Scott Adams has one called God’s Debris and I’ve been reading The Daily Stoic very slowly.

      • AlmightyJB

No matter where you go, there you are.

    • JD is in the United Karendom

I think of you as the grandma from Napoleon Dynamite.

      • JD is in the United Karendom

        But younger.

        Phew, nice save JD.

      • Mojeaux

LOL IIRC, she was feisty, wasn’t she?

      • JD is in the United Karendom

        Sure was 😀

Loved tearing up those dunes on a four-wheeler.

Not entirely sure why this occurred to me.

      • Digby recommends Crelm toothpaste

Feisty enough to get a broken coccyx, which Uncle Rico pronounced as “cock-ix”.

        Just sayin’…

      • Mojeaux

        Diggy, you are a gem.

      • Digby recommends Crelm toothpaste

Well, my motto used to be, “Polish me, and watch me glisten”….

      • Digby recommends Crelm toothpaste

BTW, JD is correct about the accident–she f’n earned that fracture, livin’ large. Pus, she had Tina the fat lard llama, which the boys didn’t give a rat’s ass about.

        Extra points for her.

  2. Nephilium

    You’re not my supervisor!

    /puts down beverage

    • SP

      Yes, I am!

      • Nephilium

        Fake news.

If you were my supervisor, we’d only talk once every six to nine months.

I assume that’s because I’m doing a good job, since I kept getting raises and bonuses.

      • Tres Cool

        Pimpin’ aint easy.

  3. Rebel Scum

I’m still working through the last post. This is just awful.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

Celebrating burning a homeless guy’s mattress.

      That’s classy.

      • leon

We have two gangs of cowards going around beating up peaceful people. The cops shooting at people on their porches and the commies beating the shit out of everyone.

      • JD is in the United Karendom

        Rage inducing.

      • SUPREME OVERLORD trshmnstr

I’m debating in my head whether the fact that people haven’t started shooting these goons on sight is an indication of incredible restraint or of terminal cowardice.

      • Sean

You know how much paperwork that involves?

        Restraint.

      • SUPREME OVERLORD trshmnstr

I guess when the alternative is letting insurance pay for all the damage, it’s easier to let them wreck up the place.

      • invisible finger

Good luck affording the insurance premiums next year.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

People with a lot to lose have to be pushed pretty far to risk it.

      • SUPREME OVERLORD trshmnstr

That’s where I guess the restraint comes in. A lot of these small business owners are losing it all. I’m surprised they’re not going all rooftop Korean at this point.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

What a fine bunch of gentlemen.

      • Rhywun

Downtown Rochester was a fucking shithole when I left 30 years ago.

Okay, I keep seeing this video retweeted. The crowd was going away until the woman says what sounds a lot like “fuck you little n*****s.” So everything after that moment…maybe deservedMan shrugging

I’d knock the shit out of him if he said that to my face. Maybe deserved.

      • Apples and Knives

Doesn’t matter if she said it or not (I’ve listened to the sound version a few times and can’t hear anything remotely definitive), that will be the narrative. She said the ‘N’ word, she deserved it.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

My comment wasn’t clear. Anybody who justifies beating someone with a wooden plank with “she deserved it because she said “nigger”” deserves to get their ass beat.

      • Viking1865

Rage inducing fat commie commenting. MUH INSNURANCE WILL OVER THE BUSINESSES. You dumb greasy asshole, the woman is not worried about businesses profits and losses, shes worried about being unable to go shopping for necessities.

      • Rebel Scum

        Yes, saw it. Awful.

    • blackjack

Income inequality. The other homeless have less. Eat the rich!

      • Tres Cool

When I was in AIT, came back from the 1st weekend we were let loose. I was standing in line to sign in around 11:30 on Sunday night, and MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball was on the TV in the orderly room. They were playing that Motorhead song. I’ll never forget it.

      • Ted S.

Some idiot on another board, who has been pushing the white supremacists angle, bitched about people talking about “leftist activists” taking part in the rioting, and saying that the way to solve this is to go after the corporate fat cats.

I pointed out that we have so many people out of work because of the politicians’ panicky reaction to the coronavirus, but I’m sure I’m going to be pilloried for not panicking enough.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

That’s just how psychos and bullies act. Assholes to a man.

    • straffinrun

Perfect representation of what eventually happens in a violence spiral.

      • leon

Cowards and bullies beat up those who can’t defend themselves. See also cops.

      • straffinrun

Trumptard! Oh, wait… Libtard! Huh?! *Scratches balls instead*

    • JD is in the United Karendom

      It’s Trump’s fault. Somehow.

    • Suthenboy

That tells. you everything you need to know about what kind of people we are dealing with.

    • Aloysious

There are times I’m glad I live in a quiet corner of Idaho. I truly don’t know if I could show restraint in the face of such savages.

      • Drake

        There’s a reason that I haven’t lived near a major city since my 20s.

      • Threedoor

Idaho you say? Whereabouts? I’m outside of Lewiston.

      • Plinker762

Stinktown! (I grew up down river from a pulp and paper mill.)

      • Threedoor

I live outside of the inversion by about 500 feet vertically.

    drink and comment

    We’re the best at that!

massive pool party going on next door

With proper social distancing and masks, I’m sure…

  5. Rebel Scum

Another re-post. Shouldn’t the cops be more careful with their cars, considering they have lots of weapons in them?

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

The Philly Motto: We’re not quite as bad as Baltimore.

    • Digby recommends Crelm toothpaste

“Lots”?? I dunno about “lots of weapons”. Maybe a shotgun. Maybe a tac rifle. Not that that isn’t enough to be a bad time for some people, but, it’s not like they have an armory in each vehicle.

  7. Crusty Juggler

Is it wrong that I enjoy watching what are most assuredly smug, annoying white people run away from the police during these riots?

  8. Viking1865

    From last thread

Samantha Shader, 27, of Catskill, New York was charged with allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at an NYPD vehicle that was occupied by four police officers.

Mother is Amy Shader who owns a day care center in Catskill. Wonder what dad does.

Two lawyers, Colinford Mattis, 32, and Urooj Rahman, 31, of Brooklyn, face charges of being in possession of explosive device components after Rahman had allegedly tossed a Molotov cocktail at an NYPD vehicle before fleeing with Mattis.

Colinford Mattis went to Princeton. Rahman is a human rights lawyer.

      • leon

        Arsonists and kiddy didlers right?

  9. Plinker762

My favorite Mexican restaurant has reopened and the tavern near work is now open too. Now I have better eating options when working late.

    • Crusty Juggler

Check out Billy Braggart over here.

      • Plinker762

Looks like they are redoing the interior of the local pizza place too. Hope that means they’ll reopen. I also saw a barbershop open last week.

    • Nephilium

My favorite wing place opens up tomorrow. I’m being strong and not planning on going until Saturday.

      • Tres Cool

        Lent is over. Stop self-denial.

    • salted earth

Would this be the appropriate place to ask if there are any EWA and N Idaho Glibs interested in a glib-together?

      • Plinker762

What does appropriate have to do with this group of misfits?

        I’m up for one.

      • salted earth

My goal is to make every social interaction awkward.
I’m in too. I absolutely have not been making a list of EWA NId gilbs…I think there are at least 6 of us.
I’ll post the offer again in links tomorrow and see about getting an email up.

It was mostly just to troll the idiot. Whether or not you actually vote for Trump, it will trigger the hell out of the leftists.

      • Rebel Scum

I will as I did in 2016. But trolling is also fun.

    • Semi-Spartan Dad

In Japan? I mean the notion of white privilege is ridiculous but that’s beyond parody absurd.

These people are bigger recruiters for white supremacists than Richard Spencer ever could be.

      • straffinrun

    • Digby recommends Crelm toothpaste

I certainly recognize it–it’s whiny, virtue signaling on social media.

    • Plinker762

      They want newer rigs?

      • Viking1865

Yeah its not like all those cops will be forced out on foot patrol. They, and by they I mean the taxpayers who just got burned out and terrorized, will have the privilege of providing our noble heros in blue with new vehicles they can use to drive away from the rampaging mobs.

      • leon

Yup. Mr Taxpayer it is your honor to help pay for new squad cars to pay for your protection. We have to raise taxes since you haven’t produced much sales revenue the last few months, and don’t think that just because your home was burned in the riots you can skip on property taxes. It’s the price we pay for civilization.

    • blackjack

That’s Melrose in Hollywood. Highish end hipster shopping street.

    • Rebel Scum

Isn’t he former secret service that served during Barry’s admin?

It’s kind of hard to believe that the cops let this many of their cars get destroyed.

I have the same concern/criticism, especially since there are weapons in them that can be taken and used by unsavory and otherwise prohibited characters.

      • Plinker762

        Free auto sears!!

      • Tres Cool

Ya know, it seems to me they maybe left them all there on purpose. For all the stuff I saw people take out, I didnt see a single firearm.
If I was in that situation with no decent goodies to grab, Id get the radio, the antenna, then go find a safe spot and get a car battery. Then listen.

      • UnCivilServant

        Wouldn’t that be uncomfortable?

      • Rebel Scum

Heh. But if you add meat it is fine. I made NY strips and mixed greens for dinner. Do the steaks in a cast iron skillet and cut the heat. Add the greens to the skillet to wilt and reduce while the steaks rest. The greens will take on the flavor the spices on the steaks and the oil/butter used.

  11. straffinrun

I thought Obama care meant you could get insurance after your business gets burnt to the ground.

  12. Sean

This Bluecoat gin is pretty tastey.

    • Nephilium

Can’t stand the diet tonics. Currently trying the Western Reserve Gin, nice botanical mix (no anise) with a bit of an earthy note. Cheaper than Tanqueray, so it may be my go to mixer going forward.

      • Sean

I find White Rock diet tonic pretty decent.

    • Rebel Scum

      Bluecoat

“You’re wearing the wrong color, boy.” <- Said to me once when I was a child wearing a blue shirt and lost sight of my parents at a Civil War re-enactment and kindof inadvertently walked with a Confederate regiment after the battle re-enactment.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

The boogaloo, it’s a term that Twitter is suppressing and nixing accounts for.

      • Count Potato

There were a bunch of people saying Hawaiian shirts represent white supremacy.

    • Drake

They same shit every time. But when you get to a strange neighborhood, the mob has thinned out – and the group courage that comes with it – strange hostile armed people are eyeing you… It just doesn’t happen.

And suburban cops are paid by suburban town committees, not big city asshole politicans. They will shoot looters and arsonists without hesitation.

  13. UnCivilServant

Am I the only one who gets annoyed at the use of the line “No time to explain” in a work of fiction when the explaination clearly takes less time than the argument over there not being any time to explain?

    • Gustave Lytton

Yes. I get annoyed in YouTube video when they blather more about what they’re going to do than just do it. It’s not a fucking class speech where you have to stretch it out.

      • Ted S.

This is why I prefer reading blog posts to YouTube videos.

Had a similar message from my youngest brother. I think his wife is kind of anti-gun but he’s doing FID application now and I’ll be helping him gun shop when all this shit is over and guns are back in the shelves. Regrets not doing it sooner.

    1) I am a grown ass man.
    2) I don’t need to be told when to stay inside.
    3) Now that I’ve been told to stay inside, I feel like going out.
    4) Who does this bitch think she is?

    • Rebel Scum

Who does this bitch think she is?

Queen. And she expects you to bend the knee.

Our mayor just gave us all a bedtime too. If you bitch about any of the blatantly unconstitutional restrictions, an army of rich karens and actresses starts screeching about your “privilege.” I’d like to see their reactions if they knew my life story. You guys only heard about one year of it.

    • Suthenboy

      1. Realizes this shit must be shut down
      2. Puts curfew in place

  16. Derpetologist

    today I learned

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execration_texts

    ***
Execration texts, also referred to as proscription lists,[1] are ancient Egyptian hieratic texts, listing enemies of the pharaoh, most often enemies of the Egyptian state or troublesome foreign neighbors.[2] The texts were most often written upon statuettes of bound foreigners, bowls, or blocks of clay or stone, which were subsequently destroyed. The ceremonial process of breaking the names and burying them was intended to be a sort of sympathetic magic that would affect the persons or entities named in the texts. The fragments were usually placed near tombs or ritual sites. This practice was most common during times of conflict with the Asiatic neighbors of Egypt.[

The execration ritual was the process by which one could thwart or eradicate one’s enemies. Usually the ritual object(s) would be bound (usually a small figurine, but sometimes human sacrifice was practiced), then the object was smashed, stomped on, stabbed, cut, speared, spat on, locked in a box, burned, saturated in urine, and finally buried. But not every execration included all of the previous components. A full rite could use any of these actions numerous times with numerous figures. One recorded rite gave instructions to “spit on him four times … trample on him with the left foot … smite him with a spear … slaughter him with a knife … place him on the fire … spit on him in the fire many times”

    • blackjack

Did they do one that said “fuck salads”?

      • Derpetologist

No, the Egyptians did not eat salads. They were invented and named by the Romans:

        ***
from Vulgar Latin *salata, literally “salted,” short for herba salata “salted vegetables” (vegetables seasoned with brine, a popular Roman dish)
        ***

Herba also means grass in Latin. It’s where the English words herb and herbivore come from. In Spanish, it got garbled into Yerba (as in yerba mate) and in French it got a classy apostrophe and became l’herbe.

Vegetable comes from a Latin word that means growing or alive. In botany, the word has no meaning. Every part of a plant is either a root, a fruit, or a shoot.

Hashish means grass in Arabic and later it referred to the stems and leaves of marijuana*. There is a dubious etymology that the word assassin comes from an Arabic word meaning “eaters of hashish”. Supposedly the leader of the assassins gave them marijuana and said the hallucinations were visions of the paradise the would reach if they became martyrs for the cause. It’s more likely that the word assassin comes from asasiyun, which means founders. Muhashi means pothead in Arabic and there are many muhashi jokes.

        And now you know…

*experts aren’t sure on the etymology – it could come from the Nahuatl word for prisoner or the Chinese word for oregano

More than 10% of the country marched in anti-Shah demonstrations on 10 and 11 December 1978, possibly a higher percentage than any previous revolution. It is rare for a revolution to involve as much as 1 percent of a country’s population; the French, Russian, and Romanian revolutions may have passed the 1 percent mark.[22]

  21. Ozymandias

Just a general advisory for Glibs: In light of the current stupidity, if/when you’re out and about, when in doubt, choose safety. That can mean different things depending upon your situation, but give yourself permission to listen to that voice in your head. If you get a hinky feeling, don’t feel foolish in going back to your car, or keeping your hand on a weapon in your purse, or taking a different route, etc. Many of you have weapons and may or may not carry, but right now isn’t dangerous just because of the riots and associated idiocy: it’s also the perfect time for normal criminals and crimes of opportunity. The cops are otherwise occupied and people’s attention is elsewhere. Choose safety for you and yours Mr. and Mrs. Glib.

    • Ozymandias

Also, I don’t know if it was already covered, but the guy who ran up and disarmed the twat with the AR from the cop car? The Glibs were right: former SF guy. He was security for a Fox News crew and did it twice while they were out filming, according to an article on Fox’s page. That’s why he had that second AR on his back with no mag.
I’ll say nothing about the weapons discipline of the cops who left their weapons when they fled their cars…. Fuckheads. (Okay, so I lied).

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Hey, the cops don’t expect anyone to be brazen enough to take their weapon when all they’re doing is busting windshields and setting their patrol cars on fire. Cut ’em some slack.

They made it home safely after running away in fear. All that matters.

Sec. 9.42. DEADLY FORCE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property:

        (1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.41; and

        (2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:

        (A) to prevent the other’s imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime; or

        (B) to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property; and

        (A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means; or

      • Count Potato

Well, you are married to a man.

      • pistoffnick

Does your travel trailer have a “coexist” sticker on on it? I would suggest one for tactical immunity.

      • LemonGrenade

I have one of those US maps you’re supposed to plaster on your trailer, and put the appropriate sticker on each state you’ve camped in. And I haven’t been able to bring myself to put even that up, yet. I don’t know if I could bring myself to add a coexist sticker, even for strategic camouflage. Also, it would signal to most people at most of the campgrounds that I’m not to be associated with.

      • LemonGrenade

I clicked through, yelled, “I want to put this on the trailer!”

“Looting And Vandalism After Peaceful Protests”, the chyron assures me.

Twitter assures me the violence happened after the police attacked those peaceful protesters for no reason whatsoever.

Those paragons of peace just had to defend themselves with what they had at hand – e.g., frozen water bottles, which they had to hydrate themselves. Frozen, of course, because you wanted to keep the water cold on this… 55 degree night?

      • slumbrew

I’ll give them credit for properly calling it “looting”.

On CBS sports radio all weekend during my commute they were talking about the protests/riots. And all of the hosts started off talking about how no one should judge anyone by the color of their skin. I tried to find any evidence that this shit that happened in Minneapolis was done because racism. I didn’t find it. Anyone come across any evidence this cop was not just a piece of shit but a racist piece of shit?

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

The video fits the narrative. That’s all that matters.

    • Enough About Palin

It turns out that the cop and Floyd had both worked security at the same nightclub. The club owner didn’t know if they knew each other. The smirk on the shit pig as he killed Floyd tells me he did. In other local news:

Tanker truck barrels down on protesters marching on I-35W in Minneapolis

The peaceful march of thousands of protestors Sunday turned into a scene of panic, as a tanker truck barreled towards the crowd on the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis just before 6 p.m.

State officials say the trucker may not have realized the highways had been closed. No injuries among demonstrators have been confirmed, they said.

      • CPRM

Again, not that what happened is right, but from what I have read they picked the most convoluted case to riot over again. They may have known each other; after confronting him initially while he was inside a vehicle, he is said to have started yelling about being claustrophobic when they tried to put him in the squad car, he started complaining about not being able to breathe before the asshole put his knee on the BACK of his neck (not the part you breathe from), coroner (which I don’t know how it is there, but here is an elected position and doesn’t mean they are qualified so may not be correct, even if unelected may just be protecting their ‘brothers in arms’) report so far says cause of death wasn’t suffocation…

I last recall seeing the roads look like that on a Sunday evening sometime in the early 1990’s. We decided to take a more southern bridge to get back even though it added 15 minutes to the trip, so we wouldn’t have to pass the freeway to Oakland and the Bay Bridge. I expect the usual shop owner in or near rough neighborhoods would be properly armed – but I’m pretty sure the actual ethnic Koreans would not be showing off any banned equipment but keeping it out of sight. Many of them grew up in Korea where gun ownership is very restricted so they understand how to keep that on the down low.

The violence since the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis is a communist inspired insurrection—nothing more, nothing less.

    ….

The U.S. Left now has the power to start race riots in nearly every major American city.

Unless forcefully countered, these current riots and protests will go on all summer up until the elections. The twin goals are to stall the U.S. economic recovery and destroy President Trump. In truth these riots have nothing to do with race and everything to do with regime change and revolution.

Unless resolute action is taken, Americans are in for a long, hot summer. Revolution may be coming to a city near you.

    https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/05/31/anger-games-night-5-sunday-night-riots-open-discussion-thread/

Many people are calling for federal intervention; however, that type of confrontation is the intended goal of the social anarchy crowd. The leftist chaos is purposeful bait; let them exhaust themselves first and highlight inept democrat Mayors and Governors.

Politically speaking, the merging of Antifa (revolution communists) & Black Lives Matter (sub-text political Islam), has a purposeful agenda unknown to the standard brick thrower. Suburban white liberals, essentially modern affiliates of the former Bill Ayers Weather Underground, are the organizing entities. Most of the people on the street are oblivious.

Local authorities in/around the urban danger zones have the primary responsibility to maintain domestic tranquility. Federal intervention to replace local political ineptitude, and lack of desire to confront a crisis of their own creation, is short-sighted.

If local officials and/or state governors are not going to take action; factually they do not want to take action because they are fearful of backlash from their own tribe; then federal assistance doesn’t work. It is better for President Trump to watch from a distance and keep reminding the U.S. electorate how he supports, but will not replace, local officials.

    Interesting take.

    • KSuellington

It’s not far off the mark. The Dems that rule unopposed in these cities have allowed this to fester and grow. They have encouraged it for christsakes. I was fairly sure this would happen with extended lockdowns and here it is right on schedule.

Crowd surrounds a vehicle with two adults and a small child and begins threatening them. One occupant apparently used pepper spray and the other fired a warning shot to get the crowd to move back. They then drove off. Police arrested the guy who fired after they reported the incident.

Meanwhile, the crowd which was unlawfully obstructing traffic and walking in the street wasn’t impeded in the least by police. Not in that news story, but the event was planned as “March for Black Lives”. Because police killing or brutalizing non-blacks never happens.

Fuck that town. And the state, for writing legislation that gets enforced like that. And, the DA for accepting the charges.

    • leon

Cops are cowards. They aren’t going to arrest the mob of thus, they’ll go for the defenseless man trying to keep his family safe

Hell, that article basically sucks protester cock. “Peaceful protesters, who merely tapped on the car’s trunk, are suddenly menaced by A GUN!!! And, the guy who handled it, too, I guess…”

I dunno. The idea that comes to me for cases like this would be a “Super Soaker” rebuilt to spray gasoline. Deploy it on the closest “demonstrators” – without any flames to start with. Once they’ve been doused it would be pretty obvious that they have to back down or risk something much worse.

      • Gustave Lytton

If going that route, kerosene would be better.

    • Threedoor

Never fire a ‘warning’ shot. Center
      Mass or not at all.

      • Don Escaped Australians

One is either threatened or he is not.

Also note that the castle doctrine is thoughtfully extended to one’s vehicle in many states. Stand your ground states would not project a duty to retreat upon those enjoying the right of way on a public way. In light of these circumstances, it would be unwise to accost persons in a car.

You’re in a two ton vehicle, a gun is superfluous. If you feel threatened floor it.

      • EvilSheldon

Last time I hit a deer at ~30mph, my car was totaled and undriveable. Deer are mostly lighter than people. Once you’ve disabled your car running some asshole over, what happens next probably won’t be a lot of fun.

Don’t floor it. Crack all the windows, sound the horn, flash the lights, and take off *slowly*

Yay! I was able to make a reservation for tomorrow evening for a lap-swimming lane at the YMCA that’s on the way home from my office. It sucks that they have to use this system, but I might as well take advantage of it.

      • Gender Traitor

Mornin’, UCS. How’s life in your neck of the woods?

      • UnCivilServant

Quiet. Heat and humidity finally went away.

      • Gender Traitor

Yeah, the weather was perfect here over the weekend. I got in lots of back porch time and didn’t even mind doing yard work yesterday.

Off to the office. With any luck, there won’t be any protestors blocking the interstate through downtown.

      • UnCivilServant

Just remember to attach a people pusher to the front bumper and load up on carpoons before setting out.
