As we come into this time of year, we tend to reflect on the year that has been. “What are you thankful for?”, people will ask.
Well I for one and thankful that this gawd awful year is almost over. Other than not being an election year, I’m not holding out much hope for 2021.
So much for, “what about Sweden?”.
If it means a lifetime of 2020s, I’ll pass.
Just because you’ve got money.
This has got to be good news for the porn industry.
This may generate some discussion.

It’s kind of you to be so merciful to the “legislature”.
They should consider it an honor and a privilege to lead the way.
If the trip was quicker, I’d see the value in it. They need something more local, and we deserve something more cost efficient.
Why bother? They should be good for 5 or 10 new GOP House seats in 2022.
Wasn’t that supposed to happen this time?
It did. Reapportionment/redistricting should also help out the Republicans to another half-dozen seats minimum.
The chart from the OMG SWEDEN COVID! article shows pretty much what OMWC was saying. There’s ultimately very little difference between one approach and the other. The virus do what virus do.
The virus do what virus do.
But we are the mighty humans and our government is omnipotent! How dare you tell us we have false idols.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. The infection rate according to the chart is, at worst, 25% higher despite much less draconian measures. And the cumulative death rate for Sweden is still 60% that of the UK and Spain. Seems like more evidence that public health measures aren’t really doing anything, other than destroying the economy and making people’s lives worse.
But DEATHS ARE DOUBLING EVERY WEEK! OK, infections. But still… PANICDOOM!
It isn’t even a particularly expensive or difficult process. I’ll take it.
Nope, not me. I can imagine that in 30-40 years I’ll be more than happy to end my time in this life. I’ve done too much damage to this body in the first 49 years…
This, I’m giving it 20-30 more years and if things don’t improve one hell of a lot around here I’m checking out.

Well.

No they’re not. Italians still make way better meatballs.

I challenge you to a meatball tasting contest next time I’m in Pedro. My Swedish (I’m not even Swedish!) meatballs against your Italian meatballs.
It’ll have to wait until after I visit the Long Beach taco trucks near the docks though. That is always my first stop when visiting. Mmmmmm. Tacos Lengua. With the pickled carrots and jalapenos.

Who is dumb enough to think he actually got elected on the up and up?
Apparently I am, because that guy, with ALL of that baggage, had one advantage – he was not Donald Trump.
The English at the end of WWI held an election to replace the national (all party) govt led by David Lloyd-George. I believe it was Churchill who described it as a contest to decide who was the the least like DL-G. As I recall, the English elected their very first Labor govt. That tells you how powerful the attraction of not being one particular person can be. The Liberals of DL-G (and at that time, Churchill) ceased to be a meaningful party. Churchill would win a seat as an independent (before rejoining the Conservatives).
Separately, as for the Guiliani/Powell routine, rapidly descending into farce…
So is the story now going to be that Dominion sells legit systems to Republican states and an entirely different, crooked, one to Dems?
It’s really easy to change the software on a computer. It could be the same hardware and those wards interested in cheating can just load an update. You can even patch it back when done before someone looks around.
I want to know if anyone pulled machines from the contested locations on election day for forensic examination. An examination of a stock machine might both show no overt signs of being amiss while still having a system that has no security or trustworthiness.
There are numerous witnesses saying that the tamperproof seals were broken and there were obvious usb and other ports on machines in swing states. Nobody takes everything in a crime. You leave enough to be deniable. The intelligence community is way down at the bottom of my list of reliable sources. Trump has dinged their credibility pretty badly. They clearly would have cheated lied and stole to get Hillary elected. Anyone think they wouldn’t now, after all that’s come to light under Trump?
Let me ask you something – what would it take to shake your faith in Trump? Or is he right up there with God?
Obviously, I am not blackjack. But this is my take on things.
I have little “faith” in Trump. He’s disappointed me more times than I can count anymore.
But I have dis-faith, or whatever the opposite of faith might be called, in the people, both at the top and among the rank-and-file, in our institutions. Government, media, academia, nonprofit, and business: all are increasingly staffed by “at all costs” sorts who would rather punish their enemies than compromise with them, consider their viewpoint, or even just tolerate them.
Trust is earned. Trump has not done much to earn trust. A whole fuckton of other people have actively and aggressively done a great deal to shit all over any notion of trust. Suspicion rules rather than any semblance of faith.
Let me ask you something – what would it take to shake your faith in Trump? Or is he right up there with God?
I dont need to have faith in Trump, but i do have faith that these lefty socialists are scum and i wouldnt put anything past them.
A mass movement doesn’t need an organizing principle, but it must have a scapegoat. – butchering Hoffer from memory
Trump said early on, ” Obama spied on my campaign” The media and the government said it was crazy assed bullshit.
Trump said, ” There was no collusion” The same assholes said, ” of course there is, he’s asserting this without evidence ( according to unnamed sources)
Trump said,” Biden scammed money out of Ukraine” The same fuckwad assholes said, ” this claim is disputed”
Guess what? Everything Trump said is true and everything Cnn et al said was a lie.
Trump now says there was cheating, CNN et al is loudly clamoring that there was none! NONE and do not ask again!
Who the fuck are you gonna believe?
That’s an abbreviated list. There dozens of more examples of Trump telling the truth and the media/government lying. More than dozens.
Trump may be abrasive, but he knows when people are conning him. People are conning him, bet on it.
C’mon! That’s not a good faith question. I don’t idolize the guy. I’m just glad that a president finally did a bunch of things I want done. I don’t even imagine I’d like him in person. He stood up to all the right people and now they’re exacting revenge. I fear that these people getting away with it is a very dangerous precedent. Don’t pull the ” if you love him so much, why don’t you marry him?” card, it’s juvenile.
When you say “he is a winner” – that sounds like idolizing, so is the refusal to see how much he infuriates so many people. And yes, the people in the govt don’t want ANYONE spoiling their party – so for anyone to ever believe in our Great Outsider cleaning it all up is flat out fantasizing.
It’d be nice to see a different approach than the ad hominem after ad hominem you’ve been throwing lately. No one here deserves that shit.
I really don’t mind if people want to believe in Trump as a fucking messiah. As long as they honest about it.
It’s a comment on the fact that he keeps winning. Which he does.
That you believe he is winning is a real big tell.
Well the fact that you deny seeing him having won is even bigger. He won the 2016 election ( as an outsider who’s never held any office, against a Clinton!)! He got most of what he wanted as a first term president. He got so many huge wins, most presidents would kill literally, for just one. Middle east peace deals, record smashing economy, massive deregulation, 3 supreme court picks, exonerated in an impeachment, the list goes on. He’s a winner. You can deny it all you want. What’d beloved Obama get during his eight years? The adulation of the press? A fucking peace prize for showing up? How about Bush? Clinton? Bush the 1th? Yeah, Trump is a winner.
Yeah, he beat Hillary, who ran an incredibly inept campaign. I’ll admit, it was fascinating watching him torch the Republican party on his way to the nomination. Says a lot about how deep the rot is there.
And FFS, “huge wins” – and you claim you’re not a fanboy?
As for the SC, we’ll see how they play out in the long run – cough Roberts cough. And I like Gorsuch and ACB, not so wild about Kavanaugh. But Trump’s big wins there aren’t something he did – he outsourced all of that responsibility and managed to not fuck it up. So yeah, he gets credit – for not fucking it up.
Honestly – you end up coming across almost exactly like the Obama sycophants did during his admin. And that is what probably chafes my ass so much. Because I hated those people.
Your TDS is causing a degree of irrationality, I just can’t speak to. I’ve been watching politics my adult life. What I’m saying is not controversial. You’re asserting that president don’t usually delegate the things that make up wins? You’re fucking crazy. Obama pulled off Obamacare all on his own? Get the fuck out of here! On election night 2016, I was shocked and dismayed that this uncouth bastard won. Eventually, I decided to give him a chance. He’s gone the wrong way IMO a few times, like bump stocks and all this stressing about immigration. I listed some of his big wins, and when I saw them, I had to begrudgingly give him credit. They just kept coming. If you seriously can’t acknowledge that each of these are highly coveted by any president, then Your TDS rivals TOS. I had to be convinced and I was. You are too prejudiced to ever be convinced.
It’s not TDS to believe that he’s a carnival barker at heart, that his approach resembles professional wrestling, that he has no core principles beyond self-promotion, but he’s still a better choice than Harris.
Misplaced- this was supposed to be a response to blackjack.
On a broader note, their failure to get rid of Obamacare when they could have told me everything I needed to know about Team Red.
Yes. I have no love for the guy or for team red. I just know that he’s done more for my freedom than any other president in my lifetime. AND, he’s getting screwed in this election. By people who want to decimate my freedom. I was pissed when I had to defend him early on, and now I’m even more pissed that my defense is being construed as a deep rooted affection for the guy. I just want lower taxes, less regulation, less foreign wars, more fronting off the media and the intelligence community. Ain’t no president lifted a finger in that direction except the Barker. I will take more barking, please. Also, The blue team is on the verge of some serious evil shit to try and get back the power they lost when the ’16 rigged election didn’t work. If they win this, I think things are going to get deadly serious worse.
On a broader note, their failure to get rid of Obamacare when they could have told me everything I needed to know about Team Red.
You can say that again.
You can say that again.
On a broader note, their failure to get rid of Obamacare when they could have told me everything I needed to know about Team Red.
You say this like it’s a bad thing.
So Dominion sells tamperable software, apparently if you know the right guy, right?
There is no such thing as tamper-proof software.
So is Dominion selling it, or if not them, who’s doing it?
You expect me to know without investigation?
You’re the one saying this is the case – without investigation.
You’re the one who appears to be saying “Take the results at face value without investigation”.
I’m saying you can’t trust computers, they are excellent tools for manipulating data.
Extraordinary claims need evidence, really good, really solid evidence.
So we shouldn’t go looking for that evidence?
I would love to see evidence that is going to hold up in court. The article I linked to made the point that none of that is forthcoming from the loudest brayers about election shenanigans.
So we are to assume there is no evidence because we haven’t reached the discovery phase of the trials?
Nothing looks up and up, so I regard the numbers are just that, numbers. You can report whatever value you want, without an audit and proof of ballot integrity procedures being followed, the reported value is automatically in doubt.
We do have video of ballot integrety procedures being actively thwarted. So I have to assume that the numbers are fake. The question then becomes is there enough to prosecute, and when is the redo with better procedures actually being followed.
There is a difference between an honest outcome one way or another and this blatant mess.
Who is dumb enough to think he actually got elected on the up and up?
Yeah, I think it’s entirely possible as well. People are stupid* and Donald Trump was never popular. I would like the discrepancies and allegations of fraud to get more investigation, I would like the media to be called out on the “no fraud” lie (minor fraud has already been proven, so stop gas-lighting us), and I would like the states with loose voting restrictions to tighten up the security of their elections, but it seems increasingly likely that Biden did in fact win without cheating to win. I don’t think it’s possible to manufacture millions of votes, and he did get millions more than Trump (I know that’s not how our elections are decided, but in 95% of the cases the states and the popular vote goes in the same direction, so a clear popular win indicates a high likelihood of a legitimate electoral win). In any case, unless there is bombshell evidence yet undisclosed, I don’t see enough evidence being put forward to overturn the results as they stand now.
*I do think it is stupid to vote for Biden – he promised lockdowns, taxes, and a fast transition away from fossil fuels – either people think he’s a liar or they voted, knowingly or not, to destroy the economy, which is stupid
Narrator: “People are, in fact, stupid.”
Narrator: Biden did NOT get 80 million votes.
I think the scope of DHS’s investigation was external threats: remote exploits, privilege escalation, etc. Someone who already and otherwise legitimately has privileged access to the machines would not be part of the scope of what was investigated. And each state, presumably, would have many such people, in order to administer and maintain the machines.
I’ve seen a lot of bullshit in my life. Probably more than most. This pandemic, election and whole fucking year is grade “A” class1 bullshit. I get the desire to have normalcy, but this is the phoniest shit I’ve ever seen. If this flies, we’re all screwed 100 times worse than we’ve always, already been. No shit.

MI…MN ?
They aren’t the same place? Who knew?
Yeah, they’re both just like Bradford, but a little colder.
And ONLY the Democratic ones are susceptible to putting their thumb on the scale?
You see, if you really want to go down this path – you have to say that Trump’s wins in Florida and Ohio are just as suspicious.
I’m perfectly okay with investigating everywhere.
The suspicion comes not from the machines themselves, nor from the states that use them, but from the process and the results. And yes, I’d say any state where suspicious behavior occurred, or signs of possible misbehavior can be found, should face the same scrutiny. But officials in Florida and Ohio did not make the same statements or actions as officials in Pennsylvania and Georgia. I brook no confidence in either specific allegations made without strong evidence to back them up nor in specific reassurances also made without strong evidence to back them up.
I’m fine with investigating them, but your point is not correct. Given the down ballot results, the obvious desperation of the dems, the willingness to lie cheat and steal under oath in order to dethrone Trump, the telling statements from all the major blue team players AND the fact that A winning president who’s promising what almost everybody wants almost always wins reelection, especially when his party wins across the board that year, given all of that ( and more) there’s no reason to suspect the kid who doesn’t have chocolate cake all over his face. It’s probably the one that does.
Trump isn’t any/every other president, is he?
The Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency have thoroughly examined the company’s hardware and software and found no vulnerabilities, no backdoors, no evidence of a secret way to alter the votes.
Yeah, well… keep in mind these are the same people who think it was totally definitely the roooshian hackers who stole the DNC emails, even though the system had been locked down from the outside and was being monitored for access 24/7 and date and time evidence pointing to them being downloaded off a network computer to a storage device in the middle of a work day…
I haven’t seen any definitive proof that machines were compromised and votes were deliberately changed, but on the other hand, we do know for a fact that 6000 votes were switched from Trump to Biden through a software issue. Even if that was simply a mistake because the machine wasn’t updated, it proves how easy it is to make a minimal change in software to start moving votes around.
My gut feeling is that if there was fraud, it’s more likely to be found in the millions and millions of mail in ballots. But the machines deserve some serious attention, too.
They made a rule that you don’t need a fucking postmark! They made a whole bunch of rules that only came into play this one year! All of the other election rules weren’t good enough for this one time. The results are odds defying and astounding, this one time. This one time is total bullshit. I know bullshit and this is exactly what it looks like.
Was the postmark thing wide spread, I recall it only being in Pa. I can’t find any numbers on how many came in without postmarks but the total that arrived after Nov 3 is reportedly ~10,000 even assuming all of them are sans postmark still not enough the swing the state to Trump.
The problem is we may never know. It appears that Georgia and Pennsylvania both are hiding the ball in the key areas with respect to mail-in vote validation. They both hid the process of validating the ballot as it was received in key metro areas. Areas that had improbable responses via mail in ballots.
Now, it is entirely possible that the democrat machine spent tons of time and money walking door to door making sure those ballots got returned. That is likely the majority of the reason for insisting on the switch to mail ballots and the switch from requesting a ballot to mass-mailing of unsolicited ballots. They perceive an advantage in urban density for collecting ballots, so pushing out ballots to everyone makes collecting them even easier for their team. Team R would have to run around rural counties, requiring much more manpower to accomplish the same thing, even if there is no irregularities involved.
But this setup also makes it very easy for them to commit election law violations. Ballot harvesting becomes very easy – and it isn’t legal in many states. Paying people for specific votes becomes very easy. There are no observers as partisan “vote gatherers” go from apartment to apartment, nursing home to nursing home, attempting to gather votes for their team, and possibly suppress votes for the other team.
Finally, the delay in counting votes in all of those swing state municipalities is more than suspicious. Broward County and Palm Beach county Florida had traditionally fallen victim to those same delays, causing most of their counting to happen after state-wide vote totals are mostly in. And their vote traditionally swung very hard for team D. But this year the governor replaced their election supervisors…. and magically there were no such issues, and Florida was able to report their results within hours, with a substantial gain for Trump in the process. Not definitive proof of prior shenanigans, but indicative.
If you wanted to add a bunch of votes to your team to swing the totals in your favor, it would be really helpful to know how many votes you need. Waiting to count mail in ballots until after the rest of the state has already been tallied is a pretty good way to find that information out. And they all did that.
They also had knowledge of who had already voted. By not canvassing the votes as they came in – marking down who had voted by mail on the rolls as the ballots arrived – they gave themselves a lot of leeway. How many mail in ballots are there? We don’t know! Which votes are the ones that came in via which envelopes? Too late, we already separated them! So on any recount, challenging mail in ballots is impossible. All you can do is count them. And they had every fact they needed to create votes out of thin air. They knew how many votes they needed. They knew who had already voted. So if they needed 400,000 votes, they could simply print out 450,000 ballots and fill them out, distributing them among a few precincts. Since you had a couple of million ballots left to count, they could easily be filtered in. All you needed was an opportunity to bring them in without the poll watchers seeing. Like having the opening happen off-site. Or having the count shut down and having them all leave.
It is very odd that all of these things happened in the critical swing state locations. Having multiple major cities stop the count – when nobody else was doing that – and then restart as soon as the poll watchers went home – is very suspicious.
A standard box of printer paper holds 4,000 sheets. So just 10 boxes could hold 40,000 ballots. (real ballots are thicker and more sheets, but still – ten thousand ballots could fit in a honda civic.
If that was the method used, I don’t think you can fix it. You’d have to check the signatures on the ballots – unwitnessed signatures. Assuming you come up with hundreds of thousands of unsigned ballots, then what? Pennsylvania courts ruled that Covid made it impossible to check signatures for some reason… so it is possible that they intended to use this method there.
It is notable that Georgia had audit procedures that were in place for years. They announced intentions to follow those procedures during this “recount”. One of the things they were supposed to do was “recanvass”, examining ballots and voter rolls for signature matches. Guess what they didn’t do?
It seems that the key way to verify the mail-in ballots is to check those signatures. If you come up with tens of thousands of disqualified ballots, you’ll know something is up. If you don’t? Well, then they didn’t just fill out ballots in people’s names, and the major method for rigging the election is gone.
This computer stealing method is easily revealed by a hand recount. This makes me doubt that this is what happened. Unless they suddenly fight tooth and nail to stop hand recounts.
So team D could easily clear this up. Recanvass the votes particularly the mail-in ballots – and check the signatures. And do a hand recount.
Do that, and you’ve eliminated most of the avenues for fraud. Do those two simple tests, and all that is left is illegal ballot harvesting or vote buying. Or perhaps vote interception – pulling out votes for trump and replacing them with votes for biden. That would be harder to pull off, requiring more manpower being involved.
Rebel Scum on November 21, 2020 at 5:21 pm
Joseph Biden did not earn 10 million more votes than Barry or Herself. There is no scenario in which that happens without fraud.
You really can’t imagine that more people were turned off by Trump than turned on by Obama or Clinton?
I can certainly imagine that a policy of targeted messaging combined with selective canvassing and questionably ethical behavior could lead to suspiciously high vote returns for certain candidates or initiatives, and that this process could be greatly enabled by an 11th hour change in voting processes. The result is not fraud but rather dirty politics, or as one might observe with an eye to history, how things used to work back in the days when political machines had national rather than just local pull.
not fraud but rather dirty politics
And a lot of “I don’t like the results”.
Well, sure. Politics is a spectator sport, after all.
It probably does not help my position that his behaviors that turn people off are behaviors that I find entertaining and even refreshing, whether or not I agree/disagree with any of his stated positions or actions. I view the world through a certain lens just as everyone else does.
So I do have a difficult time imagining your premise to the extent that I find it highly unlikely.
I don’t find him entertaining or refreshing. I’ve spent 4 years wondering though if he wasn’t necessary to break the status quo.
But that doesn’t mean I have any kind of high opinion of him.
You really can’t imagine that more people were turned off by Trump than turned on by Obama or Clinton?
It’s very hard to me to square Trump losing with the down-ballot results, among other things. The GOP gained at least ten seats in the House, won all the races the polls called “toss-ups”, held the line in the Senate, and Trump loses by seven million votes? It’s also very curious that nearly all the bellweather counties in the country got this particular election wrong. He’s the first GOP candidate to win Ohio and Florida and still lose? He’s gotten more support from minority voters than any GOP candidate in history and still lost?
Imagine standing in a room with a body on the floor. The body isn’t breathing, it’s at room temperature, it’s got some small circular wounds in the torso from which it has bled out, there’s a cloud of smoke dissipating in the air, it smells like a gun has been fired recently, and there are shell casings lying around the area. And there’s a guy who you know is friends with the mob screaming “BUT THERE’S NO SMOKING GUN!”
I respectfully disagree. There is a scenario, and the mechanism by which that scenario occurs is widespread mail-in voting. The effort needed to cast a vote was reduced greatly, and the effort needed to harvest ballots was reduced greatly, and all of this happened in what is a relatively short period of time for our sclerotic government. It is no secret that the postal service union and many state and local officials were on Biden’s side. It doesn’t inherently take fraud so much as enablement.
All votes are ballots, but not all ballots are votes.
I do not believe that there are/were enough people so Jazzed for Joe that he could possibly be the person to garner so many “votes” across the country, let alone win in enough states by sufficient margins to get an electoral victory.
Peak 2020 will be when Trump and his team at least expose this fraud, regardless of whether doing so allows him to retain the White House. Of course, as with all things, time will tell.
*Raises glass* Cheers to the pre-Harris admin (which is even more ironic considering she did not even earn a single delegate in the Dem primary.)
Meh. There are (at least) as many lopsided blue states as lopsided red states, but the former have got way more people. California will probably account entirely or almost entirely for the Democrat’s national popular vote margin, again. They love to talk about all these votes but they almost all from one state that’s a political basketcase.
Trump got 10 million more votes than 2016. 2016 was supposed to be a cake walk for Herself, many of you love repeating how the polls had her a 93% to win. I can easily believe that after getting caught “mailing it in”* last time the left knew it was going to be close tis time. Both sides pushed the “most important election ever” even harder than usual, add in that the left are convinced they are fighting actual Nazi’s and I can certainly believe the much higher turnout this year than 2016.
*sorry could resist
The real issue here is not who won this election but rather the casting into doubt the legitimacy of elections in general. The fact that you and I and so many others disagree about this particular election is evidence of that. It is my contention that the Dems deliberately created doubt as to the legitimacy of this election so that they can get away with all kinds of shenanigans in muddy waters, something I believe they will employ as SOP going forward.
That their platform is nearly identical to the policies and practices of the USSR, namely demoralization, is very telling. Once again I will say that if. you appeal to the worst aspects of human nature, envy, greed, resentment, you will get the worst kinds of people. I dont think such people would hesitate to cheat in elections and frankly I would be shocked to learn that they did not.
The Russians will be toasting their ’16 efforts in the Kremlin for generations. Not only did they manage to infect the Democrats last time, the infection spread to Republicans now. I mean really, they got stupid lucky, but they made the most of it.
I don’t think the Russkies are enjoying this half as much as the Chicoms. Russia’s ambitions are more overtly aggressive but also much more regional. China’s got major business operations going on directly or indirectly in nearly every country now. Most people alive in the world today can say that either their government, their economy, or both are beholden to the People’s Republic. In his wildest dreams, Putin couldn’t hope for that kind of influence.

Also, how can someone be against “cultural appropriation” and promote Jamaican food at the same time?

Everything American is something we adopted from other cultures. We also improve on the things we adopt. That is one of the aspects that makes our culture/country that greatest in the world.

They lost a bunch of seats pushing that shit. She isn’t very bright, is she?
As long as it doesn’t cost them too much, they’re happy to lose some moderates and be left with only the true believers, the opportunists, and the followers.
The progressives just can’t seem to remember that they aren’t a majority – in their own party, let alone the country as a whole.
They might be the tail wagging the dog, but so far it has mostly worked for them. It might not be working as fast as they’d like, of course.
They end up about as frustrated as libertarians. One little positive sign taken to mean the whole glorious program will soon take over the country.
More fun things to do with a 3D printer.

Hilarious, I wish there was video.
Well, it is a commentary on the sad truth of evolution that the Tyrant Lizard King has become generic foodstuff.
Well, technically, birds are not descended from T-Rex, they just share a common ancestor. Most dinos are not the ancestors of birds, just a very specific subset.
Yes, but that spoils the joke.
I have an uncanny talent for spoiling dry jokes by taking them too literally.
Wet jokes spoil just by not freezing them in time.

“Hong Kong Bakery Decorates Cake with Joe Biden Sniffing Anime Girl
The Villa Villa Cafe and Bar in Hong Kong published a photo of a custom cake it baked for a customer this week depicting American presidential candidate Joe Biden sniffing the hair of a distressed cartoon girl drawn in the Japanese anime style.
The Asian outlet Coconuts, which highlighted the bizarre cake order, described the image of Biden as one of “a handsy pedophile.” Coconuts translated the Chinese text on the cake as reading, “Warmly celebrate Uncle Biden for his election as the 46th US president.”
President Donald Trump has supported the protest movement, signing an executive order to sanction repressors in the city in March and signing the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act last year, which passed in Congress with bipartisan support. The Hong Kong protest movement has reciprocated this support. The Trump administration also revoked special trade status for the city, which was contingent upon it not being governed by communism. Last year, protesters held a “Thanksgiving” rally in appreciation of the Hong Kong Act, waving American flags and holding up photos of Trump. Interviews with dissidents in the city in early November indicated that many hoped to see Trump win a second term in office.
Villa Villa appears to cater to pro-Trump Hong Kong protesters. Two weeks ago, it published a photo of another custom cake its bakers had created, using a photo doctored to make Trump look like a champion boxer.”

You people called me a hoarder after I shared the making of a delicious taco with you. Frankly I am hurt.
All the good stuff happens after I pass out.
This was early. I left around 9 MST.
Well, maybe I was passed out that week.
Meh. Rub some dirt on it.
Thanks! I’ll join a bit late.

Good move, I hear the COVID virus is prone to getting liquored up and slapping around its old lady after 10pm.
I didn’t think Systembolaget stayed open past 10 PM.

I see the English language is still on holiday.
So much for, “what about Sweden?”.
It’s flu season. How many people are usually ‘hospitalized’ for respiratory illness?
The death rates are what matter.

satire idea: Russia Offers to Trade Soviet Statues for Confederate Ones
“It is a fitting move as both our respective systems have collapsed”, said Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov. “If the Americans want to erase their history, they could at least let us do it properly for them.”
“Well sir, I don’t care much for the new Lenin statue, but at least it ain’t no Yankee”, said Elmer Gantry of Mudville, Alabama. The statue of Confederate general Jubilation T. Corpone will be relocated to a petting zoo in the Siberian city of Omsk.
Meanwhile, the International Olympics Committee is considering adding the event of statue-toppling. The US and Russia are both expected to field strong teams.

I’ve been really partial to the Interrupters and Sick of It All recently. Always a fan on Social Distortion, Rancid, NOFX, Bad Religion, Reverend Horton Heat, Stray Cats, Kitty in a Casket, Nekromantix, Horrorpops, Royal Crown Revue, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Dick Dale, Dr. Ring Ding, Hepcat, Dropkick Murphys, KMFDM, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies, the Tiger Lillies, and the Slackers.
My playlist is mostly classic rock, Johnny Cash, and pop punk. Once in a while, I’ll spring for bluegrass or classical. I like fast tempo and power chords.

Bodies of man and his slave unearthed from ashes at Pompeii
Why assume slave?
Like all this stuff you’ve got to tell a “story”. Same way you find a bone fragment and create a whole dinosaur.
From the article my supposition would be wear and tear on the body and the contrasting clothing combined with why two people with those different traits would be interacting.
It’s not an unreasonable supposition, but it is presented as fact because that’s what we do now.
but it is presented as fact because that’s what we do now.
This timeline sucks.
This timeline sucks.
I find it interesting/entertaining.
But having to have narratives based on false assumptions is annoying.
Do you actually like people? Maybe that’s the difference.
Reminds me of something I’ve explained to my wife about jury trials. A lot of the lying and fabrication police and prosecutors do is to support the “story” of how a crime was committed. She doesn’t understand why they have to create a story in the first place. Why can’t they just present the evidence? But that’s not what juries want. They want a story told, that they can choose to (mostly) believe or (mostly) disbelieve.
Just like every archaeological dig turns up something that “may have been used in a religious ritual.”
The “evidence” of slave labor in the younger body would have been true had they taken my brother in at 21. He had multiple ruptured disks just like their slave. Perhaps the dude just was born with a bad back. early 20’s seems pretty young to have skeletal degradation from life-long abusive manual labor.
Not going to go back and re-read it, but I thought they qualified it with “believed to be” and such. Of course there’s no way to know what their relationship was, or if they’d even met before this event.
Correct, but naturally, not the headline.
Here’s a heartening video… a group of 50 business owners in Buffalo stood up to and forced out health department inspectors and the sheriff who crashed their meeting Stasi-style after receiving an “anonymous tip” that the owners were illegally gathering.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI_pkvlp2q4&
My wife and I have been talking about this before. It sucks for the businesses that they are being required to enforce Covid restrictions but they do have the choice of fighting back. They can band together, go to the town or city council, announce they won’t be following the restrictions and ask for support from the community. Besides financial support from patrons, I bet a good many people would physically stand with them against the health inspectors and police if a plea for help was put out.
Bubble bursting and all but what are the odds these people have their business licenses pulled? They’re in the right and all but authoritarian dicks can be dicks.
And if they choose to ignore having their licenses pulled? And ignore any fines. The jails will start getting full pretty quick of business owners. Businesses owners who have families and friends who may decide that’s a bridge too far.
The police and health inspectors are gnats biting a tiger that’s been putting up with it so far. That tiger may decide it’s had enough and finally turn around when faced with the prospect of all the livelihoods we’re about to see destroyed.
Erie County’s (where Buffalo is located) is one of the NY sheriffs who said they’re not going to enforce the cancellation of Thanksgiving and whatever oppression that was intended to follow from that.

They no doubt will. That is when they should continue to do business without a license.
That needs to start happening more. No law, no warrant, fuck off.
Home Depot lime and shovel sales spiking yet?
That was fucking glorious.
I’ve got my list of restaurants that supported #WeCantClose here in Cleveland, the Ohio Craft Beer Association (which I support quite a few of their members on a regular basis already) put out a scathing letter to the governor, and there’s a class action lawsuit being put together to sue the state for the reclamation of business fees/licenses for the duration that the businesses have not been able to legally operate.
There’s push back happening, it’s slow, but the resentment is building.
???
Now do deaths per million
QUIET, YOU!
What I take from all of this is that we were going to get pounded by the virus regardless of lockdown.
As a wise man once said, “When this is all over, we’ll all look like Sweden.”
Sweden When?
Sweden Like This?
The death toll is mounting! You know what it’s mounting? It’s mounting your rights and it’s going to fuck them to death. Then, they’ll count each right as another covid death and do it all over again.
“Now do deaths per million.”
OK, I thought and went to the WHO ‘rona dashboard. A couple of weeks ago I checked it out an was impressed. Easy to used with lots of data – including rates over time. At the time Sweden, like everyone else had lots more cases but deaths were way down.
Now? The “updated” the site to make it it “more user friendly”
All rate data is gone. They’re now all in on cases andtotals – which seem for some reason to keep rising.
They really don’t want us to know.
Here
Sort on Deaths per million. Sweden has gone from 14th in the world to 23rd in two weeks

They were heroes saving the world from the threat of Bolshevism, you see.
“Memory says, ‘I did that.’ Pride replies, ‘I could not have done that.’ Eventually, memory yields.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
Very few Americans appreciate that. Little known is the protracted, fierce struggle between the German people in general and those pushing ‘Soviet paradise’.
I remember reading about nazi’s marching through the Ukraine and being horrified at what they saw. It is easy to demonize, dehumanize and turn the WWII era Germans into two dimensional cartoon villains but in fact they were people like anyone else and the situation in Germany was very complex.
That said, there is no excuse for the horrible things the hard-core Nazi’s did. Also, I am pissed that the Marxists that escaped came here to the US. If we would have shot them on sight we would not be having a lot of the problems we are having now.
Wonder if elite Germans ever reflect on what a mistake it was to send Lenin off in that sealed train. Sure, in the short term it paid off, but man, in the long term.
If they got to go back and do it all over again, I’d hope they’d be more concerned about starting that damnable war than getting rid of Lenin. Without WWI, Lenin stays a nobody in both Germany and Russia, and a host of other shitty things don’t happen besides.
I feel like Edward Vrowlerhands should be a thing.
Crowler
Much better then Growlerhands, which is what I was thinking.
But I’d still rather pour it into a glass and drink it properly (unless it’s already a beer in a bottle, when I’ll usually just drink it from the bottle).
One night, in Hollywood, I was at a late night diner Called Ben Frank’s on Sunset Blvd. As I walked in and to my table, I kept hearing people whisper, ” Johnny Depp” “that’s Johnny Depp” etc. When I got to my table, my friend and I started making fun of the whisperers. I put knives and forks between my fingers and clacked them around saying “ooh, look, it’s Johnny Depp”
Well, apparently, Johnny was there. He came up to my table looking really bedraggled. He was about 90 lbs and obviously very fucked up, in a strung out kind of way. He says, ” Hey man, why you keep saying my name?” All picking a fight-y.
So, I say, ” Relax, we’re just clowning around, go sit back down”
Then he looks at me for a long time and finally shrugs and says, ” OK” And goes back over to his table to continue his nod.
His buddy at the time was the frontman for the house band of Club Central, Chuck Wiess. I saw him almost every night. After the Johnny Depp thing, Chuck started giving me stink eye all the time.
Then one day, A couple of Japanese tourists asked Chuck what kind of car he had when he pulled up. He had a huge stuttering problem and stammered trying to tell them. I interjected and told them it was a ’54 Plymouth Savoy. He whole face lit right up and he was massively grateful, not just for helping him to say it, but because I knew what his car was. He was obvious about saying hello to me every time he saw my after that.
Btw, Chuck was the guy that the song, ” Chucky’s in love” was written about.
That’s a lot better than my Clarence Clemmons story.
He wasn’t a friend of yours?

I’m gonna throw this down here and then I’m out.
Blackjack was all charged up about Trump’s successes (some of which I at least partially agree with) and blurted out the biggest piece of economic ignorance that plagues American life – the President getting credit (or blame) for the economy.
Influence? Maybe. Creating prosperity (or the lack there of)? You’re a fucking cargo-cult level primitive to believe that. Now, this is true of the majority of American voters, and is no small part of why we get the govt we deserve.
A pres can at best “create” a good environment for economic growth and security by getting out of the way but can also throw a hell of a wrench in the gears through stupid policies as carried out through the various agencies and EOs. If there’s a good economy they actually do deserve some credit but it’s due to mostly to what they choose to not do.
The president created a good environment mostly by staying out of the way.
Closing a bunch of departments would be a good start at getting rid of impediments
That ship is sailing into the sunset along with Trump.
Um, cut taxes ( particularly corporate taxes) reduce regulations and ensure stability. The economy will take care of itself. Obama did the opposite and the economy was lethargic. Trump did these things and it hit records year over year. It’s really simple, if you’re honest about it.
What metrics are you using for “the economy”?
Is there one that got worse over the last four years? Excepting some trade war outlier ( which is an exception to my agreeableness with his policies). Reducing intervention always allows for an increase in economic activity. It’s an iron rule. Increasing intervention always prevents some degree of economic well being. ALWAYS.
Plenty did, but due to the Covid bullshit, not Trump. I ask because I often hear that Trump had record Dow Jones or what not (and I’m not claiming he rode Obama’s wave) but Obama also had record Dow Jones, unemployment was falling at the same rate for the last years of O as the first years of T (again until Covid BS). It’s almost as if the Economy isn’t dependent upon who is president.
Even in 2020, this is still generally true. Barring an executive-led national lockdown in 2021, I’m not too concerned about Biden-Harris ruining the economy.
So, let’s say they successfully lobby congress to raise taxes, including corporate taxes, institute a raft of new regulations on things like cars, toilets, light bulbs, real estate, etc. Strengthen the restrictions of O’care causing more fines and curtailing incentives to hire or promote people, then, for good measure, they start banning various forms of energy through the alphabet agencies. Would this reduce US economic activity?
There may have been a time when president’s lacked the power to affect these kinds of things, but it’s long over now. There are iron fucking laws. If you force all businesses to provide very expensive health insurance, you are restricting economic growth. It’s not rocket surgery. Fuck with people under color of authority and they will avoid you. Leave them alone and they will move freely. Argue against it if you will, but you will be wrong.
Yeah, we’ve moved way beyond the good old days when congress passed laws and spending bills and whatnot and passed them along to the pres to pass or veto. The exec has the power to royally fuck things up Congress or no and Biden/Harris will do just that.
The economy seems to substantially supervene on President-facts, but ok.
Late to the thread, but for those who disbelieve in the power of the government and the president to impact the economy, I give you the 2008 meltdown. It was entirely a creation of government regulation. Absent government intervention, there would have been no explosion of bad loans. And absent government intervention in the form of requiring mark-to-market valuations, there would have been no meltdown of the loan market. The entire thing was a creation of federal actions, from start to finish.
(And it altered the course of my life, so I kinda take it personally. )
The belief that the president in anyway manages the economy is just another form of TOP.MEN belief. It’s like you’ve never read that the economy is the trillions of choices of millions of people.

I don’t know. The masking may horrify us, but there are an awful lot of people who relish their newfound power over each other.
I am ashamed to admit that the worst mask Nazis seem to be women.
Why does this surprise you?
Hitler was really a moderate sort of guy. Eva Braun was the real extremist.
I promise to tell the Hitler/Braun sex story one of these days.
Nah, they were both moderates… Eva merely wanted to be Mutti of Das Vaterland.

Who else gets a short work week this week?
I’m taking a personal day on Friday. Yay 4 day weekend.
I’m on vacation until the end of the week.
Sadly, I don’t think I’ll get either book finished, as I’ve now taken to watching old Doctor Who serials. Right now it’s “Pyramid of Mars”.
We can be friends.
A throwaway line at the end of the serial now has my OCD fussing over continuity.
*the building they are in is on fire*
4th Doctor: “We don’t want to get blamed for starting a fire”
Sarah Jane: “No.”
4th Doctor: “Had enough of that in Sixteen Sixty Six.”
But it was the 5th Doctor who burned down London. Or are they saying Tom Baker showed up just after Peter Davison ran off and caught blame for what he hadn’t done yet?
You’re not Doctor Whoing right. Just sit back and enjoy it without thinking too hard.
I think I’ve linked this before but, it still tickles me. Also Pyramids Of Mars is fantastic.

Heh. Was this before she became a companion??
According to wikipedia, yes and no.
It was after her first appearance but before her travelling.
Yes. Kinda? This is from 2007, a year before she joined the Doctor as a regular, but she was introduced in the 2006 Christmas special. The chav character is one from her own show (2004 – 2007). I only knew her from Who and The Office, but her show is more like Tracy Ulman and is worth a look (IMO).
Ah… right. There was a year between her first appearance and when she became a regular.
Donna Noble was the best companion ever (closely followed by Sarah Jane and Amy Pond.)
And Catherine Tate was always a lovely bride.
I’ve probably already quibbled about this but it bears repeating that nobody beats Sarah Jane. Though Donna comes close.
I’ll pretend you didn’t mention Amy Pond.
Amy Pond > Rose Tyler
Regarding Sarah Jane, I must add the disclaimer that most “Classic Who” (pre-Eccleston) has an unfortunate tendency to put me to sleep. I’ve really tried to watch, but I usually nod off.
Donna Noble.
That is all.
::fist bump::
They did tend to be slow burning stories.
The new show has become too frenzied. I like the slower pace of the oldies.

Off Thanksgiving and the day after.
I have to burn all my vacation time before the end of the year or I lose it. So I’m taking off just about the whole month of December.
Coming down this way?
Probably not.
I think I will run into some resistance from relatives over my disdain for the Lil Rona Panic orders.
Some relatives probably won’t care.
We’ll see, but I’m thinking no big trips until a little more normality occurs.
That blows.
I’m taking 3 days of PTO next week to burn it out before I lose it. The company I work for actually gives us Thanksgiving and the day after off as paid holidays.
Thu and Fri are paid holidays. The owners are pretty generous with those.
I haven’t taken any PTO since I only started in September but I hope to rectify that in December. It will be tricky working around my boss’s and his boss’s frequent days off, though.
Anyone know why Penn State decided not to field a football team this year? Was it that Little Sisters of the Poor and Stumblebum Univ. were taken off the schedule?
They want to be just like University of Michigan.
Too many “opt-outs”?
I should probably save this link for a Cryptid post, but it entertains me:

So, who else is pissy and short tempered these days?
I’d be cooped up in the house anyway because of the newborn, but the restrictions of the past 8 months meant that I was stir crazy even before that.
I’m at the point where I don’t even care about how the macro level stuff falls. Election, covid, whatever. On the personal side, I feel the tension and anger rising anytime anybody notices me in public. They’re all just coming up to look at the baby, but I’m about to rip fucking heads off if they say the first thing about masks. My fuse is microscopic in length. Hell, even the sight of masks gets my anger simmering.
Neph mentioned resentment, and I completely get it. I resent these people. I resent them a lot.
You have no idea.
My boss actually made me take a day off last week, because I was so stressed and ill-tempered. This has never happened before.
It didn’t help.
Me, me! Because I lack the cojones to make a public stink about masks and the ridiculous and nonsensical rules and regulations they’ve put in place, I’ve mostly retreated into a shell. And it’s killing me, but every time I do go out in public, just the sight of all these people cosplaying Bane stirs an underlying mix of rage and depression. I’ve stopped going out except to the few stores I know don’t care about masks, and my husband has been jumping the grenade on groceries (although he used to do the majority of the shopping anyway). We don’t dine out any more. I cook almost every night, and we only buy takeout if I have to work too late to make dinner. With the exception of my summer vacation (which was still low on social contact, but did involve a ton of location changes), I have had very little personal contact with any human being outside of my immediate household since March. I’ve visited the same friends three times since March, and I saw my mother and mother in law in July. That’s pretty much about it.
While trying not to sound trite and annoying, I suggest reading some Seneca.
Epictetus can be a little too demanding if you’re already in a bad mood.
And yes, my temper is short as well.
I try to remind myself that my objective is to convince or mock, not to lambast.
However, if you were to put me in a room with some of our dear leaders, I might take a slightly bloody turn.
I destress by focusing on my hobby of planning how I’m going to use all of my seconder slaves in the afterlife. I have an entire plantation planned. I’ve constructed a working model with figurines and legos.
As a fifther, The Hyperbole is tasked with cleaning the outhouses and jerking off the males and inseminating the females to breed more slaves.
As inferior stock he is of course not allowed to breed himself and will have his inferior penis confined to a cage.
Titty level is pretty calm. ?♂️
I’m not a short-fuse kind of guy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pissed. But I try to roll with it.
I’m not a short fuse guy either. I’m usually very patient. In fact, last night the Mexican food place lost our order, resulting in me waiting 30 minutes for them to cook up a new order to take home. I didn’t even express my annoyance to them. I let them apologize and offer some desserts and told them thank you for fixing it.
That’s my personality. Unless you’re actively trying to abuse or take advantage of me, I’m very forgiving. For various reasons, the mask thing ticks that “abuse me” box and has me itching to rain down the fire of righteous outrage.
I’m right here with you. If someone is messing with me is due to an honest mistake or simply because the best they can do is simply not that good, I’m incredibly patient. I’ve even remained calm when their mistake caused physical injury to me (nothing permanent, but I have been burned a couple times) – in these cases it is usually me trying to calm the person who caused the issue down.
But when someone has any perceived intent, that’s when I lose it. I’ve been told that it is a very scary thing too, as my calm face looks no different from my severely-pissed-off face. My wife refers to it as a resting psychopath face – I just don’t show emotion, whether I’m trying to calm you down or if I’m taking a baseball bat to the back of your knees (this actually happened).
My problem right now is that it is pretty damn obvious that a lot of these people have intent, and thus I’ve been a low boil for the past 7 months.
I am. I try to focus my anger towards those who deserve it, while tipping heavily to those in the service industry.
But I’ve also spent decades working on controlling my temper.
I’m with you trashy. I was generally a live and let live type that enjoyed people and would look to the good that I saw in humans and appreciate even people with very different views and lives. It wasn’t out of naïveté, I’ve seen the evil that humans can do firsthand, and I’ve been around the world and seen a whole lot of crazy and terrible shit. But also some amazing and wonderful things. This year has pretty much crushed that. Five months before the Vid hit my youngest brother overdosed on fentanyl. I’ve barely seen my immediate family for the past nine months even though they all live close by. I went to my now youngest brother’s new house today to help him with a problem door. Him and his wife were wearing masks the entire time I was there. My brother just below me has a wife that now hates me as I won’t play along. My fuse is also short and I don’t have much use for humanity any more.

Crawford has gotten stupid-expensive for what it is since they started TV advertising, but it is indeed tasty.
Might be able to find Allen Scott sauv blanc, which is another nice NZ wine
As Tardis asked: dry or sweet?
What price range?
Oaky chardonnay is widely available and usually goes pretty well. Or a sauvignon blanc. Or a chenin blanc. You’ve got a lot of options – chicken goes with a bunch of different wines.
Honestly, you may be best off just asking at the wine shop – I can throw some names out but I have no idea what they’d cost your or if they’re available.
I don’t like oaky. I think Simi chardonnay was overpriced crap.
Pinot grigio! Bland but dry. Or maybe an unoaked chard.
Sauv blancs can be grassy or even cat pee-ish.
cat pee-ish
Well that explains why they go well with fishy fish.
+1 more for a decent Sauvignon Blanc
I’m seeing a bunch around $10 – 15. No idea which is good.
The NZ ones in that price range are all pretty decent. Pick one.
I’m not a huge wine guy but I will agree on the sauv blanc from NZ, they are usually great with food. If you want to try something else, vinho verde is a fun style, often slightly carbonated and lower in alcohol content. They are almost always reasonably priced too.
Beaujolais. Or something from Macon or Chalon.
Traminette.
Vynecrest has a decent one. If you can find it.
Depression, not only from being isolated but from the ignorance of the media and the BS. Glad I see a little sanity with the Glibs. Its like having a safe space.
Some of my old friends are sleeping with the enemy while a few are still rational, at least by my definition.
Anecdotally, my oldest granddaughter, almost 30, was feeling kind of punk, she’s s big believer on the masks and so on. Anyway she went to the Dr, knowing she had the CV, in spite of all her precautions. Anyway the medic told her she has the regular old flu so maybe the tide is changing. I think she wanted to be a victim, even as a believer but no compassion for an ordinary flu.
Would?
I’m going senile. I’m looking at a script I wrote for myself to clean up and normalize filenames. It’s short, each of the two loops are only five lines long, counting “while” and “done”. I really wanted to figure out why it missed one of the files. Instead I’m staring at the sed expression and going “what does that even do?” This isn’t code I stole off the internet, I wrote that expression…
But I think I found the bug. The hyphen in the filename messed up one of the other commands before it got to sed.
Update – I figured out what the expression said.
Nope. It wasn’t the hyphen, it was case sensitivity. Silly me.
I call that “write-only code”. Drives me nuts.
I document code I write for others. I get lazy on stuff I write for myself at home.
its called pandemic brain,
Looks like the area under the Sweden curve is still smaller than that of the U.K. or Spain.
“The first Seeker wines come from France, New Zealand and Argentina. If you share the joy of discovery, this wine is for the Seeker in you. Master of Wine STEVE SMITH selected grapes from three of New Zealand’s best Sauvignon Blanc vineyard sites. The blend of these regions produces something unique, offering in Steve’s words: a full-flavored palate of citrus, nectarine and sweet summer herbs, finishing long and juicy; a wine that is clearly greater than the sum of its parts, AND BY SOME OF ITS PARTS MEAN RAPE.”

Watching Season 4 of The Crown. Gillian Anderson is downright cringey as they try to shank the Milk Snatcher once again.

I love that clip. Takes that dude to the woodshed.
I think Trump and Thatcher would have gotten along.
I’m now imagining an SNL skit featuring Donald and Maggie if Glibs wrote it. That could be hilarious.
Maybe she could’ve taught the Donald a few tricks about using hairspray.
I’m sure she could have.
“Now Donald, I must tell you. You would be well served to get rid of that ridiculous tinted shock of hair tilted at preposterous angles. For the love of god, please, let me rid you of the notion that extravagant bouffant is doing you justice.”
LOL. She outclasses Don in every way.
He’s not in DC to play nice with any team. He came to shake things up and to drain the swamp.
The swamp has proven to be wider and deeper than many of us know, Lifelong politicians, whether in the unelected bureaucracy or in the legislature could not have the Don crashing their system.
There are plenty of GOPers who are happy Trump will be moving out of DC soon.
Me too.
Of course they are. The Brits are self-loathing.
The Fagan episode is ridiculous. Completely eschews history to transform a somewhat-deranged man into a mouthpiece for the producer’s hatred of Thatcher.
Are any of you wokesters still awake?
Still holding it up on west coast time.
I got a 2nd wind here on the EC, so just checking to see if every town in the land have rolled up their sidewalks yet…
You ever think of retiring in Brazil Hyp? I spent a couple years and seriously considered opening a business there, a pousada and a bar. Thank god I never did as it’s not a stable place to make a livelihood. It could be a pretty good place to retire though, especially if the location there was chosen carefully.
I’ve seriously been considering it recently. At least part of the year and probably soon. It’s a little easier now for US citizens since they’re giving us a visa waiver for 3 months. If you have close ties like I do, extending it to 6 months is really easy. So right now, what we’re looking at is 6 months there and 6 months here every year. And then just play it as we go. It’s not cheap there, but property is cheap if you have US dollars.
I’m a little drunk, so I won’t say more right now, but I’m more than happy to discuss with you any time and tell you what I know.
oh no the covid cases
oh no
What, you got the commie cooties?
“Everyone will get this” suddenly became “Nobody can get this.”
I dunno.
Since the start, all I’ve been hearing is that it’s raging all around us and people are dropping dead like flies.
And I still do not know one person who has had it, let alone dropped dead from it.
But I’ve been assured that it has nothing to do with politics.
I know people who know people who totally dropped dead of it. Covid kills, man.
I saw Neal Brennan do stand up comedy tonight. Neal is the other half of the Chappelle Show writing team, so I held out some hope for comedy.
Unfortunately he decided to be all political, all woke, all anti-gun. The worst part was that he assumed that his entire audience was woke liberals too. I think he might have noticed the lessening laughter as he proceeded. Oh well. The show had its moments.
Apparently Escondido is one of very few places still doing stand up, so we are getting guys who live in LA pop down to Esco for these little shows. But Escondido is about a 50/50 split politically, unlike LA.; know your audience. At least playfully acknowledge those who might disagree, or don’t dehumanize them.
“he decided to be all political, all woke, all anti-gun”
Hard pass on that for me.
Too bad. The left seems to surround itself with like minded thinkers and actively demonizes any disagreement on an almost childlike level .As a result, they can’t empathize with an audience of anything but leftists. If they could, they would be able to make jokes at everyone’s expense and still get them to laugh.
Thank God. It is near my bed time. I cut and hauled two ricks of oak up a hill, split and stacked most of it today. My back is stiff as a board. When will I learn….
It should go away tonight while I am sleeping.
I suppose my cheap ass should start looking around at a replacement side-by-side utility vehicle.
Judi’s big yearly sale was shut down on Saturday afternoon. We have a province-wide mask mandate and new travel restrictions. We are out thousands of dollars for nothing. I’m not calming my tits any longer because City bylaw officers just stole bread from our mouths. I will not comply, henceforth.
And ask all your acquaintances who support this lockdown shit why they literally want you dead.
Got in to it big time with sister-in-law on Friday. Shut her down in about two minutes. I’m fighting back now. No more towing lions.
That is so disheartening to hear. What does Judi sell?
Now, if he were married to Winston’s mom…..
Shit, Fes. Sorry.
Angry tits perfectly justified.
Powell last night:
“We ‘ve got evidence of people being paid. We got check stubs from people being paid.”
Now it gets interesting.
This woman is fighting the most uphill battle I’ve ever seen. She’d be better off without Rudy and Lin flanking her as the PR nightmares they seem to be.
OK, must see TV follow up on the Dr Who thread
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pmiYew3gUw&ab_channel=BBC
I wasnt here, and w/o going back and digging thru- ya mean this bit ?
Ya, this seems to be a follow-up to that.
LOL “You’re Scottish sir.”
And let that record reflect that my feelings on Catherine Tate are a solid “Wood”.
Her friend Dawn French too, before she got gastric bypass.
Heh. Oh man, French and Saunders was great.
So, the other day I call my parents to talk about their trip down for Thanksgiving. We decided that it really wasn’t worth the risk, seeing that I was probably exposed to the ‘Vid, and that they would just spend Thanksgiving at home. The whole time I downplayed my fear of actually catching COVID, and the risk that it would do anything to me save give me the sniffles. But they didn’t feel comfortable traveling in that situation, so they are staying home.
I called them back later in the day to talk about their move down here (we bought a house with an in-law suite that they can live the rest of their lives in – we’ll bring in any medical care they need). My mother was nearly in tears, and I asked what was wrong.
“You haven’t heard the news from your brother?”
“No, I haven’t. Is he ok?”
“No, he’s having to quarantine himself in his basement. He was exposed to COVID!”
I pieced together the story – my brother is a high school physics teacher, and apparently one of his students tested positive for COVID. One of his students. Who sits 25-30 feet away in a classroom. Where they wear masks. But apparently when he called them he was wailing about catching the disease and how he had to isolate himself away from the rest of his family. When I heard this, I was apoplectic.
“But it’s not like your exposure. His student tested positive!”
Yeah, my exposure was sitting for 5 hours, maskless, right next to my coworker, whose COVID infected daughter had slept on his chest the night before. Completely the same as wearing the chin diapers 30 feet away.
@#$%ing @$$hole caused my parents all sorts of worry just so he could play out his melodramatic outrage at the fact that the Georgia governor hasn’t shut the whole state down due to a slightly-worse-than-normal flu…
Heh, that time Oregon state govt officials decided to get rid of a whale carcass by filling it with dynamite and blowing it to bits (borrowed from Ace of Spades HQ, explosion and raining down of enormous chunks of whale at 2:00):

A couple of parked cars a quarter mile away were wrecked by falling blubber. Ah, the good old days.

?
So, my parents are gonna skip getting together with us (and others) for xmas, but I did get to see them yesterday in person. No masks.
This was the third time since lockdowns. Progress is being made. Dad is more at risk and a bit skittish.
