“Racism is Trump’s brand — but he outperformed the polls in large part with Hispanic and some black votes 5/

Maybe the summary point is that although elected officials fall very well on a left-right spectrum, many voters don’t see it that way. Or something. And of course the majority did vote for a center-left candidate. No idea what the true lessons are. 6/”

You were the asshole all along?

Maybe people consider issues that affect their life separately, instead of signing on for the random basket of positions that a political party crams down your throat.

“Also, whiteness is not static and it is expandable when necessary. A lot of folks we don’t think of as white think of themselves as white because the lines have never been entirely clear. That’s the beauty of white supremacy — it is extremely adaptable.”

Stunning news – Twitter (essentially a human sewage system) is full of people full of shit. Film at 11.

      • R C Dean

A lot of folks we don’t think of as white think of themselves as white

So they identify as white? That’s not a problem, is it?

That’s the beauty of white supremacy — it is extremely adaptable.

Just how adaptable can a racist ideology really be? I mean, aren’t the boundaries pretty firm – members of race X good, members of other races bad?

      • Ted S.

So they identify as white? That’s not a problem, is it?

It’s no different from identifying as [insert made-up gender here].

“This is so personally devastating to me: the black male vote for Trump INCREASED from 13% in 2016 to 18% this year. The black female vote for Trump doubled from 4% in 2016 to 8% this year.”

My 17-year-old has had a couple seizures in the last month. Just now , he came in for his walk, sat, and just keeled over like a racist colonizer statue in Portland. It only lasted a minute or so. The last one was like 30 minutes before he got back to normal.

    Poor baby pug.

    • Count Potato

      Sorry

    • Hyperion

      Sorry to hear.

My wife is trying so shame me into buying her a Scottish Fold kittah she found for sale. It’s an 11 week old charcoal gray poofy furball. It’s cute and I would gladly buy it for her, but we have 8 months left in this apartment and I do not think it’s a good time to be buying pets and paying $300 a month extra for the privilege. Fuck, I’d buy her 3 of them if we were in our own home already.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

pet rent is so fucking dumb. Require a deposit or an up front fee, but get outta here with this $4k/year for extra wear and tear. And, of course, theyre gonna keep the deposit on top of the pet rent

      • Count Potato

“paying $300 a month extra for the privilege”

        Wow

      • Hyperion

And my wife taunting them constantly that the entire worth of the place is not worth the monthly rent.

Cannot say she is wrong, but I can see them singling us out for hiding a kitty from their over the top fees.

    • Tonio

      Sorry to hear.

Trump Campaign Blocked From Vote Counting in Michigan, Files Lawsuit
    https://pjmedia.com/election/matt-margolis/2020/11/04/trump-campaign-blocked-from-vote-counting-in-michigan-files-lawsuit-n1125358

The Trump campaign has been denied access to vote-counting in Michigan, which they are legally entitled to, and has filed a lawsuit to have counting stopped until they are given access.

Also looks like Arizona has been pulled from Biden’s column and is back in play. Someone fabricated the reporting numbers and turns out most of the in-person ballots that were expected to break for Trump 2:1 had not been counted.

    • RAHeinlein

What a bunch of non-sense – I just read an article at TOS stating Trump is clueless and doesn’t understand how elections work.

    • juris imprudent

42 more electoral votes for Biden (RCP has him at 227) and the election goes to the House.

      • R C Dean

They took AZ away, so he’s at 216. They’ve got a lot more undecided states, including some that probably shouldn’t be.

Don’t have the time or energy, but I’m pretty sure there’s a plausible scenario for this thing to go to the House. Which would, indeed, be glorious.

      • juris imprudent

The only thing better than simply going to the House would be if Trump had the popular vote lead, but alas it appears California has repeated (and exceeded) their ’16 effort.

California will surely never burn again for all of the prog tears to be shed when their 55 electoral votes become 1 lonely state vote in the House.

      • A Leap at the Wheel

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the constitution ambiguous about which house does the choosing? The currently sitting one, or the one that was just voted in?

      • Jarflax cancelled Cancelled

It doesn’t really go to the house. It goes to the delegations voting by State, so I think the Republicans actually have more majority delegations and the Democrats have stronger dominance in a smaller number of delegations, but I’m too lazy to total it up and I don’t immediately find a count online.

      • Jarflax cancelled Cancelled

Actually it looks like it is 25 Republican majority delegations, and PA is evenly split, and a majority is required to pick, so it might end up with no President elected. At which point the VP becomes President, and the VP is chosen by the Senate in that scenario, which votes as a body, so President Pence?

      • juris imprudent

PA is R, Michigan is evenly split. I think it breaks down 26 R, 22 D and 2 even splits.

      • Ted S.

Repubs have an advantage either way. And based on when the electoral vote count is made official, I’m pretty certain it’s the new Congress that votes.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Yeah, it’s not over. The fat lady may be gargling with salt water and waiting in the wings but she hasn’t sung yet. Trump isn’t Romney, he’s not going to fold “for the good of the nation” even if he ultimately loses.

      • The Hyperbole

I thought it was Gore that conceded for the “good of the nation.”

      • Count Potato

If I remember, Romney was a clear loss.

      • Chipwooder

Didn’t Gore un-concede a few hours later? Christ, it seems like a million years ago now.

      • The Hyperbole

Yes he did, but I think* his final concession speech, the one after the courts ruled on the Florida stuff, was full of “I won and I could keep fighting but “for the good of the country” I wont keep pressing the issue.” type BS

*and yeah million years ago so I could be way off.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

It was, just that’s what Romney would have done if he had been in this situation (I think). Trump’s way more litigious and he doesn’t give a damn about winning with dignity as long as he wins or goes down in flames.

      • Mostly Peaceful JaimeRoberto

I thought it was Nixon. Gore filed a whole lot of lawsuits to get recounts only in the counties that would help him the most.

      • The Hyperbole

Nixon? look at Methuselah over here, who remembers Nixon’s concession, even if you were alive and paying attention then you’re probably in depends and riddled with dementia by now…uh,.. no offense Foursquare.

      • Mostly Peaceful JaimeRoberto

Or I’ve read a history book. Or all of the above.

      • The Hyperbole

Also no offense Fourscore, I’d blame autocorrect but truth is I’m a maroon.

      • Jarflax cancelled Cancelled

        Racist!

  10. Chipwooder

Nick Freitas clinging to a 1300 vote lead on the Spook Bitch in VA-7.

    • Hyperion

There’s leftover ballots from the Broward County cache that are not needed for Biden.

    • Viking1865

If it was the old VA-7 he would have won walking away. What a neat trick the progs pulled off giving them the perpetual ability to manipulate the districts of the South.

      • Chipwooder

Amendment 1 passed, so that might help with the districting mess. Probably not, but maybe,

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Until the six outside members are captured by leftist activists.

      • Chipwooder

Probably the most likely course of action, yes.

      • Viking1865

That’s why I voted against it.

        It’s gonna be

        4 Dem Assembly

        4 GOP Assembly

8 completely neutral and unbiased political science professors and civil rights lawyers.

      • Claypoolsreservoir

Yep. Hopefully the Virginia supreme court will remain fairly conservative… at least until the rats realize that the jig is up.

    • EvilSheldon

Even though I’m trying to unass the hell out of VA, this would be a nice thing.

      • Viking1865

I’ve said since 2016, the most disappointing thing about the post Trump Left is their fullthroated and open legged embrace of the “intelligence community”.

No true hippie would ever vote for a goddamn CIA agent. When Dave Brat knocked out Eric Cantor, the candidate for the Dems in the general was a professor at the same college Brat worked at. That’s the proper Democratic candidate: a professor at a small liberal arts college. Maybe he’s a Trot, but goddamn it he would be genuinely dismayed and appalled when they started loading the deplorables on the trains.

Spanberger started her career opening people’s mail for the Post Office, then moved to the CIA, and then became a diversity trainer. She’s all the evils of the 2020 American Left wrapped into one neat little package.

      • Kwihn T. Senshel

So to whom did the hippies turn? Seems like they’re still voting Dem, aren’t they?

I lived in a small, arts-oriented town for years, and there were tons of those you describe that were openly against the Patriot Act, etc. Don’t hear a bloody thing now. Have to be some principled liberals remaining – where did they go?

      • mrfamous

Bernie Sanders. And then it became “vote blue no matter who.” You might not like the current Pope, but you always take his side over the Reformation.

      • Jarflax cancelled Cancelled

Ok, I am worried enough about Civil War II, don’t jinx us into 30 Years War II, that one was REALLY bad.

      • A Leap at the Wheel

        Some, Kucinich then Sanders.
        Some, no one then Trump.

I’ve got both in my family.

    • Certified Public Asshat

      That reminds me…

Damn. Anyway, Wesley Hunt was on Rogan and seemed like a great candidate. Alas, he lost his race in Texas.

  11. Florida Man

SugarFree brings the wisdom. Nobody was going to stay on topic so why have topics. There is no spoon…

    • slumbrew

Hey! This is a libertarian site, mister, not an anarchist site – you need topics in order to have a chance to herd the cats.

    • Hyperion

The best thread of all time, the legendary one, was the accidental one at TOS. The legendary thread about nothing which reached near a zillion comments in 5 minutes, before being pulled by the cocktail party that be.

Ever since then, we’ve been trying to recreate it and have failed. It’s like fusion and commietopia, it’s still 25 years away.

      • SugarFree

I’m not sure if it is the one you are thinking of, but the thread that hit 2,000 comments that had Mary Stack, fake rather, White Indian under a dozen different handles, and someone cut and pasting the entire set of comments into a new comment over and over again was the trigger for posting limited and registration.

      • Hyperion

I don’t think that’s the one. I think someone posted an article, but the title was empty and we started posting about how the article was about nothing. I think there were several hundred comments before TOS realized what happened and deleted the post, along with all comments, of course. The one you are talking about was before registration started, when crayon still existed.

      • RBS

Yeah, it was just a nothing post.

      • Mad Scientist

It’s wasn’t about nothing. It was about Seinfeld.

      • SugarFree

Damn, I think I missed that.

      • Hyperion

I think you had less than 30 minutes to not miss it.

Then again, there was the ‘incident’ that was totally blamed on me and of which I don’t have a clue about what happened.

All I remember is people talking about the incident and being told something happened and that I caused it and I would be told about it later, which never happened.

      • zwak

        So, the Seinfeld of posts.

I have ~ $200 available from work for home office equipment. Do I buy another UPS? Suggestions? Needs to be at least plausibly useful for a home office.

    • rhywun

Wow, how do I get in on that action.

      • slumbrew

Work for a company that’s has very good benefits, I suppose (we just got a couple more “wellness days” as well – i.e., arbitrary company holidays).

It’s been two $300 grants – I already spent ~ $400 on one UPS plus a new trackpad.

“Examples of eligible items for reimbursement include, but are not limited to the below necessary home office equipment for use while performing work for XXXXX such as monitors, keyboards, webcams, desks, chairs, mice, headphones, speakers, printers/ink, portable fans, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and general office supplies”.

I’m thinking about a second UPS for the diskstation & wifi gateway (first one is for the desktop – those things are across the room from each other).

      • Trolleric the Goth

definitely a good idea to have your NAS on a UPS.

in fact the only UPS I have isn’t for any of my computers, it’s just for my router/NAS so it can shutdown cleanly and not spend 8 hours verifying integrity after a 30 second blip

      • Semi-Spartan Dad

Do you have a laser printer? I got a Brother L2550DW model last year and will never go back to inkjet.

      • slumbrew

I got an OfficeJet multi-function inkjet from work, from the before-time. I have a Staples Direct account for ink, so I’m good there.

(I’ve officially been work-from-home for a bunch of years – I was part of a pilot that provided equipment and the Staples account; they let that program wither but haven’t revoked my account).

      • db

I have my NAS and other select important machines running on a big UPS I got at Refurbups.com

They have really kickass deals on refurbished commercial grade equipment. I have a 3 kVA UPS now that cost me less that $700 including brand new batteries and an ethernet monitoring/control card. It’ll run my whole rack for about 2.5 hours without line power.

      • db

Actually cost me less than $600.

      • slumbrew

You & Trolleric are pushing me towards UPS #2 for the NAS & gateway.

The Cyberpower UPS I linked to is solid but network monitoring/control would indeed be nice (it’s like a $150 add-in card for a $200 UPS).

        I’ll poke around Refurbups.com – thanks!

      • db

        kewl

      • Trolleric the Goth

I went with an APC model, BN650M, It was their cheapest with a USB data port. my NAS shuts itself down at 50% battery power.

it’s a peasant-tier “backup” topology, but even the cheapest line interactive units were 2x+ the price.

      • rhywun

Dayum, nice. My first buy would be a chair. I bought a decent one for my living room before I found work last month and my new “home office” got the 15-year-old piece of shit it replaced.

    • grrizzly

Do you rent a modem from a cable company? You can buy your own. I could always try a different brand of powerline ethernet adapters like this one cause the set I have is not very reliable. I guess I’m just annoyed with home ethernet/WiFi issues.

      • slumbrew

Just bought one recently – I could retroactively expense that, I suppose. The virtue of a second UPS is it’ll almost perfectly use up the remaining balance.

    • Sensei

If it’s just you in the office – you can’t go wrong with a good mechanical keyboard.

I have one of the “quiet” versions, but it’s still louder than the ones that come with most PCs.

      https://www.cherrymx.de/en/mx-original/mx-brown.html

      • slumbrew

That’d be sweet, but it’s a small place and my wife will be working just across the room for several more months – the enforced time together is already making tempers a bit frayed.

Pretty sure she’d murder me if I got a mechanical keyboard.

      • Kwihn T. Senshel

I’ve found that Cherry MX Reds (or other brand equivalent) with O-rings are really no more noisy than the cheap keyboards, and even in a home environment there’s usually some noise around to make it not too obvious.

I cn barly typ on membrne keybrds now.

      • R C Dean

Big fan of mechanical keyboards. Not sure if mine uses those, but I think it does.

Still there is never enough screen space

      • slumbrew

      Fleshlight.

      • slumbrew

I like the cut off your jib.

While my manager is chill, I don’t think that would be an approved expense.

      • db

Someday I’ll tell the story of the engineering specification that got written for a Real Doll and inserted into a capital project, then accidentally made its way through VP level approval, and was only flagged when the alert purchasing agent read it and called the VP to ask if he actually reads the requests he signs.

  14. The Late P Brooks

I don’t see the panicdemic going away any time soon. Too many people have worked too hard to stampede the cattle, and it’s going to take more than Gene Autrey and his guitar to settle them down.

A lot of people seem to genuinely enjoy larping the zombie doom. it makes them feel special.

    • Plisade

Now you’ve got me wondering if all the zombie video games have made people more susceptible to covid hysteria.

    • Viking1865

Assuming Biden’s lead does hold, then I would assume they would attempt one last PANDIMANIA stimulus bill that includes bailouts of all the Noble Institutions of American Society. You know, Our Public Schools, Our Community Owned Banks, Our Noble Truth Tellers of the Media, Our Vital Cultural Touchstones in Hollywood. Then after that they can taper if off and get the tax cattle back to work. Just let it go on for a little bit longer and wipe out as many of those goddamn deplorable small businesses as possible. Get all the goddamn rednecks working for a proper large company with a properly trained HR department.

    Let the lawsuits fly.

With the 2020 race in limbo, the Trump campaign on Wednesday filed a lawsuit in the Michigan Court of Claims to halt the counting of ballots in the must-win state, where Joe Biden leads by a razor-thin margin.

In a statement, campaign manager Bill Stepien claimed they had been refused access at counting stations to observe the opening of mail-in ballots in the swing state that could unlock the White House.

“As votes in Michigan continue to be counted, the presidential race in the state remains extremely tight as we always knew it would be,” Stepien wrote.

“President Trump’s campaign has not been provided with meaningful access to numerous counting locations to observe the opening of ballots and the counting process, as guaranteed by Michigan law,” he continued.

  16. Florida Man

30 minute video? Ain’t nobody got time for dat! Did HM pay his $10 to OMWC yet? What is the totally vote tally? Is Rhywun going to eat his hat?

    • SugarFree

      1. No, but SP has already spent it.

      2. 70,470,207 to 67,280,936, so far.

      3. Rhywun’s hat is macerating as we speak.

      • Count Potato

        So hats are a fruit?

      • SugarFree

Is it your contention they are meat?

  19. Hyperion

I’m not sure if it’s time, but it feels like time. To talk about hoomans.

The problem with hoomans, and I’ve been sayin this a long time, is that in general, people care more about what you are doing than what they are allowed to do, or not.

If that were not true, we wouldn’t be a country overran by power hungry Karens.

I never thought about this much until late 2008 when I decided to move to MD for work, having a lucrative list of clients lined up already.

So I thought, well it’s a good time to start making friends over there before I move there and I’m just alone with nothing to do.

I was hanging out with one of the first friends I made here one afternoon in Balmer feasting on crabs. This was 2-3 months before I made the move.

I cannot remember how politics even came up, but it did and I said something like ‘Fuck the 2 parties, that’s why I’m a libertarian’. She freaked the fuck out. I honestly did not expect that, and it’s unlikely I ever forget it. She said ‘Are you fucking crazy!? You can’t just let people do whatever they want to!’.

I had a realization right there, that I was not in Kansas anymore.

The 2nd time I had a moment like that, I was at a sort of office party with some of my co-workers, and the guy who was hosting the party, who seems like a very cool guy, invited some of us inside his home to have some beers and whatever.

He was showing us his place and we went upstairs and he tells us ‘this is my office’. Then he looks out the window beside his desk and an intense look appears on his face. And I’m thinking pretty much nothing except ‘what the fuck is he looking at? Has the alien invasion started?’.

And then this guy, says ‘Look at that! That motherfucker built a shower in his back yard so he can hose off after being in the pool! I’d like to be able to send that guy to prison for life!’. I kid you fucking not, he said that. And in that moment, I realized that most nice guys you know are sociopath wannabe totalitarian scum.

Fuck people, they are no good hairless monkeys who drive around 6000 lb metal deathtraps and care more about their new smart phone that they do about your stupid rights to peacefully exist and be left alone.

    • Chipwooder

Most people are worthless. It is known.

    • Count Potato

Well, for a very long time, longer than they haven’t, humans lived in small very interdependent groups, so what other people did was a matter of survival.

    • limey

Eeeeyikes. The lady freaking out is kind of understandable (sadly), in that most people live within a certain bubble of ignorance and received wisdom in which the misconceptions (and dishonest portrayals) of things, such as “libertarianism”, are way off. I’m anything but a Rand devotee, but today I heard a terrible dramatised “documentary” on BBC radio about her, and when I looked it up later, the blurb for the show read “darling of the Alt-right”. Jeez so a bunch of apparent fascists somehow revere someone who was characterized by her ruthless opposition to totalitarian government? Riiiiight.

The creep who wanted to put a guy in prison for an outdoor pool shower is pretty extreme, though. He is probably a candidate for snapping and going full Karen on the wrong person someday, at which point he may reconsider being such an asshole, but if his opposition is limited to just making passive aggressive comments from the security of his own home, then eh, live and let live.

    • Pope Jimbo

The flip side is the conversation I had with a friend who is pretty religious. When he found out that I’m a non-believer he was shocked. He was sure that the only think keeping people from killing and raping every person they ran across was a fear of going to hell. Without the specter of eternal damnation, we would all be going bezerk on each other.

He genuinely was convinced that deep down I believed in an afterlife because otherwise I would be running amok trying to get as much pleasure as I could before I croaked.

I was shocked that this guy who seemed like such a nice guy was only holding back because he didn’t want to burn in a lake of fire.

      • EvilSheldon

I AM running amok, trying to get as much pleasure as I can before I croak.

I just don’t take any pleasure in looting and pillaging and raping and killing.

I guess that your buddy feels differently.

      • Pope Jimbo

Ain’t no party like a Ghengis Khan party!

He assured me that of course he would never do anything bad like that, but he was positive that most other people would. And he is a really nice guy, but it is a bit scary when you see something like that in a friend.

      • Gadfly

I just don’t take any pleasure in looting and pillaging and raping and killing.

A lot of people do, though. Especially the looting and pillaging part. There are whole philosophies and political parties built on the indulgence of those vices.

And while a belief in an afterlife is not necessary to restrain these urges, a belief in a certain type of morality usually is. Of course, there are some people who never have such urges, but they seem to be rare. Most people need faith in something to restrain their impulses.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

He genuinely was convinced that deep down I believed in an afterlife because otherwise I would be running amok trying to get as much pleasure as I could before I croaked.

A literally anti-Biblical belief. Not to say that I don’t believe that people untethered from religion can’t rationalize themselves into committing atrocities, big and small, but the Bible is clear that everybody is born with a basic morality imprinted in their souls.

        Romans 2:

Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. So they show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts either accusing or defending them

  20. Rebel Scum

My dyed in the wool Dem gf is, naturally, looking forward to a prospective Biden/Harris admin. Her understanding of politics/government/philosophy does not extend beyond “Republicans Bad, Democrats Good”. So I had to explain my problem with that possible result with the following:

In a Trump/Pence admin I can afford to buy you jewelry. In a Biden/Harris admin I cannot.

    • Sensei

Couldn’t you have explained that before the election… 😉

    • wdalasio

Was her response anything other than, “If you cared about me, you’d find a way anyway!” If so, she may well be a keeper.

And that’s sort of the problem, isn’t it? Not with your girlfriend, but modern society in general. They’ve spent much of their lives essentially provided for by people who “find a way” no matter how insane or irrational the demand. Usually at the expense and suffering of the person doing the providing. So, they don’t believe that their demands have real consequences. They’ve always been shielded from them.

      • Mostly Peaceful JaimeRoberto

That sounds like my son, unfortunately. “I’d be willing to pay more taxes in order to have X”. Uh, dude. You don’t pay any taxes. Get back to me when you do.

      • Fourscore

        We have the same son?

      • R C Dean

Naturally, what he meant was “I’d be willing for you to pay more taxes in order to so I can have X.”

      • Mostly Peaceful JaimeRoberto

Yes, and he gets upset when I say that. “Ugh! Americans are so selfish!” It seems to me that the selfish one is the person who wants other people to pay.

      • wdalasio

You really want to mess with his head, try quizzing him about specific things he’d be willing to give up. Free college? Okay, So, would you be willing to give up the car and get around on bicycle for that? Or would you just give up going on dates? Medicare for All? Would that be worth your not going to college? Put real prices on things. Not just vague numbers that he can feel comfortable about someone else paying.

      • Mostly Peaceful JaimeRoberto

Part of the problem is that we’ve been responsible and have this thing called savings. So in his opinion we should just dip into our savings.

      • creech

“by people who “find a way” no matter how insane or irrational the demand. ”
That’s why “Atlas Shrugged” and the exodus to Galt’s Gulch was fiction.

Or maybe not. My former socialist wife is a full on Trump supporter. Not sure what she will be now. But she keeps telling me calm down, we will still beat these commies. Wish I believed her.

      • prolefeed

Or, you could do what I do – I just don’t talk politics with my wife. Most of life isn’t about politics, if you’re doing it right.

A lot of the women I dated did not accept that not talking about politics was how we had to handle it. Once I heard they did not intend to STFU about that, they were off the consideration set.

      • Hyperion

We talk politics now, but we mostly agree, and have been married for almost 11 years. We’re sort of in love and all that, so it doesn’t result in any conflict.

There’s going to be more conflict about what percentage of house work I’m supposed to do since queen brat princess can sleep all day if she wants while I labor all day and make all the money.

      • Pope Jimbo

My wife and I never talked politics when we were first married.

Then she got her green card and got real lippy once I couldn’t have her deported back to the shit hole she came from.

      • Hyperion

Ugh. My wife’s family is wealthy. She’s completely financially independent of me, except when she depends on me to be here. The dollar being nearly 6 to 1 against the Real changed all that.

      • zwak

This. My wife is mostly liberal with a small bit of libertarianism. But, I am not so shallow that I cannot have a wife or a friend across the aisle. And as prolefeed says, most of life isn’t politics. As long as they accept that I also have opinions, its all good.

    • Pope Jimbo

In a Trump/Pence admin I can afford to buy you jewelry. In a Biden/Harris admin I cannot.

So one of the upsides to a Biden/Harris admin is four years of not having to give BJ’s?

  21. Chafed

I’m disappointed Trump didn’t make it a lot closer in Minnesota.

I don’t understand the reporting on some senate races. Georgia and North Carolina have finished counting the votes. Team Red won by a slim margin in both states. Why are these races not being called?

    • Trigger Hippie

‘Why are these races not being called?’

      You know, the thing.

The fix is in and we cannot allow this any more. It’s too divisive. So from now on our ‘experts’ will select some proper candidate for you to vote for.

Maybe the loser has demanded a recount?

    • Pope Jimbo

Minnesoda is doomed. The rubes in Greater Minnesoda were spanked and put to bed without any supper. We elected Tina Smith to a full term as Senator after she spent a few years doing absolutely nothing. The state house is still in DFL hands so Walz can lockdown at will.

I am with Tundra now. Time to start looking at retirement options in other states. This place will be fucked now that the Twin Cities machines have shown that they can out vote the rest of the state.

      • kinnath

Well, northern Iowa is almost Minnesota.

      • Tundra

        I like Iowa a lot.

However, if we’re gonna pick up and leave, I’d sure like some mountains.

      • Hyperion

You’ll freeze your ass off in Iowa for about 9 moths of the year and in the 3 months it is warm enough to go outside, you’ll witness some storms that would terrify a resident of Jupiter living near the great red spot.

But, almost everyone there is very nice, and corn fed wiminz.

      • Grumbletarian

Good luck finding an ant colony that won’t eventually be overrun with grasshoppers going “Hey, nice place! You could stand to have some grasshoppers running it; there are plenty of them who need the stuff you guys have.”

NH was a nice ant colony once upon a time.

    • Fourscore

“I’m disappointed Trump didn’t make it a lot closer in Minnesota.”

      One word answer: TwinCities

      • Pope Jimbo

Watch it you rube! Sounds like someone is getting dangerously close to being the Tribute for this year’s games in Panem Twin Cities.

First thing that will get done is a vote to extract $$$$ from the general fund to pay for all the damage from those mostly peaceful protests. But don’t worry if Emily, MN has riot damage the state will also pay to fix it.

  22. LCDR_Fish

KDW has brought it up a few times, but obviously the rural/urban divide isn’t going to favor the rural folks in this sort of thing. He’s mentioned that Rs need to look at appealing more to folks in the cities, but thinking about it – I don’t see a lot of crossover.

The best I could come up with offhand would be criminal justice reform, drug decriminalization/legalization, and decreasing federal gov’t interference/regulation (trying to promote more local stuff). Of course…that’s more libertarian – and until the current pol generation dies off/passes on – doesn’t seem like much hope.

    • Gustave Lytton

Appealing to an increasingly leftist population isn’t a strategy for actual success. It’s the Tory way to move along with the Overton window.

Letting the leftists shit the bed and beclown themselves isn’t getting anyone to wake up and slap themselves out of it.

      • LCDR_Fish

Demographics don’t lie. Yes you can get around it with some house district elections, but statewide/etc are just going to get worse and worse in a number of states if trends continue.

It would definitely be the bigger man (like Trump) to make efforts across the aisle even on lower net value items – better if encouraging private orgs and not spending taxpayer $$$.

They’re going to let Trump win PA now, just to say ‘look, we totally did not cheat!’.

I really hate the idea of taking this to court. But if we don’t, when does this stop? Drop boxes should be made illegal starting now, otherwise, we never have another fair election. And you know what happens after that? Yeah, you guessed it, another 3rd world banana republic.

What the democrats are doing is beyond dangerous. They know that, and don’t care. You’re going to get a lot of people killed, you dumbfucks and some of them night be you.

      • Hyperion

There couldn’t be a more perfect reply to what I just said than that.

      • R C Dean

If Biden keeps WI and MI, all he needs is NV. NV and WI are very tight, and I think they would both be necessary for Trump or Biden to win if Trump carries PA, NC, GA. NV still has a bunch of votes to count, though.

      • Ownbestenemy

Mentioned it last thread that the “none of these candidates” that NV has to have on the ballots might do Trump in.

      • R C Dean

If it comes down to NV and WI, I think we’ll both states recounted. Without them, assuming Trump carries PA, NC, and GA, Biden will have 254 votes, and Trump will have 268. If Trump wins either recount, he wins.

Biden’s lead in AZ seems to be increasing. The Maricopa Ballot Harvesting Machine FTW!

  23. LJW

It might be better for the Republicans if Trump loses. The 2022 Senate race has 33 Republicans up for re-election. If we have 2 derpity years of Biden and the Democrats in the house, that could drive enough people to the Republicans.

    • kinnath

I posted in the last thread:

Elections to the U.S. Senate will be held on November 8, 2022, and 34 of the 100 seats are up for regular election. Special elections may be held to fill vacancies that occur in the 117th Congress.

Of the 34 regularly scheduled elections in 2022, 12 seats were held by Democrats and 22 were held by Republicans as of November 2020.

      And Viking1865 replied with:

The 22 Republicans are in AK, ID, UT, ND SD NE OK WI IA MO AK LA IN OH KY PA NC SC AL FL.

      • Hyperion

Leave it up to dems to totally fuck up any advantage they may have.

    • Mostly Peaceful JaimeRoberto

It’s about 33 Senate races total (100/3). 20 Republicans and 12 Dems and a couple TBD according to the Book of Knowledge (Wikipedia). The point stands though that they have more seats to defend.

      • LJW

Ah thank you for the correction my point still stands.

    • creech

Doesn’t look good on the face of it. But will depend on 1) lulling the Dems into staying home -as they did to the GOP in 2018 and 2) how
crazy the Dems go under BidenhertimeHarris adminstration.

  24. The Other Kevin

My main question going into the election was how many people bought into the woke/socialist/leftist crap. While not overwhelming, the results are encouraging. Especially more Latino/black/gay voters going for Trump. That tells me there are people rejecting “the narrative” and thinking for themselves.

    • creech

Did the folks buy into woke crap? I was told today “I could overlook the four years of Trump acting like a clown because the economy was super good. Then came covid and Trump’s response was terrible, the quarantines were drawn out, and this economy isn’t coming back soon. So, I decided to take a chance that Biden can do better.” It’s the economy stupid, and the relentless media portrayal.

      • The Other Kevin

Now I’m very curious about how the left is going to spin this. They tend to see every win as a “mandate”.

      • Mad Scientist

Why should this be any different? They’ll say it’s a mandate until that becomes common knowledge.

    • Fatty Bolger

The wokesters seem pretty upset with the results overall. But those fuckers are relentless, so don’t get too relaxed.

“Did the GOP keep the Senate?”

      Looks that way.

      • LCDR_Fish

Looks like Loeffler needs to make a run-off election in GA though.

      • Pope Jimbo

As long as the Dems don’t have all the levers of power, I guess I don’t care too much about who is the Pres. Biden/Harris will fuck things up bigly.

My main fear was they’d sweep everything and court packing/statehood/green new deal would be jammed down our throats.

      • The Other Kevin

I am feeling a whole lot better now that those things are very unlikely.

      • Fatty Bolger

        At least until after midterms.

      • Fourscore

Yeah, if you count Collins, Murkowski, Romney. The old reliables

    • prolefeed

Nothing is for sure yet. They keep saying the Ds won the House, but so far only 204 Ds for sure (one of the undecided races in CA is between two Ds), with 218 needed for a majority:

      https://www.politico.com/2020-election/results/house/

Best guess: Trump loses by the narrowest possible EC margin, 270 to 268. Rs keep the Senate, but their tight margin gets tighter. Ds win House after stealing several close elections.

      So, still gridlock.

      • Hyperion

Seriously, if he could pull that off, it would be far better than winning the election.

    • Gadfly

Is there any solid news? Did the GOP keep the Senate?

It’s not certain yet. The current count stands at 47D/48R, with 5 races outstanding. Of those 5, 4 are leaning R. Of those 4, 1 is likely a guaranteed R and the other 3 range from maybe to strong possibility, so it is highly likely the Rs pass the 51 mark to retain the Senate.

My wife is Brazilian. Some of the women on her soap operas are the most beautiful women you will ever see.

      • limey

Oooooh telenovelas. I comprestand now. Mojeaux recently said she was writing a story about a guy who likes thicc chiccs and a character based on a thicc model she likes.

      • Hyperion

The Brazilian novelas are a bit different than the Murikan ones where they last for years.

Brazilian novelas typically only last for 3-4 months and then they get a new one.

They had one a couple of years ago where some guys, set in the 1930s were running this Burlesque club. OMFG. There was one woman on there, not only was she just over the top gorgeous, but the body, fucking WOW. I even told my wife that and she agreed with me, lol.

There’s one she watches now where there’s a new chick that has a fucking killer body. I mean a fucking cannot stop staring at that shit body.

      • Mojeaux

        I already wrote that one.

      • Count Potato

Portuguese is the vodka of blood. It mixes with anything. Look at Macau. A friend of mine lived next to a Cape Verdean church. Every woman was like Naomi Campbell, without the phone throwing.

      • Chipwooder

Long ago, when I lived in LA, there was a Brazilian restaraunt near work in Torrance that had a tasty and cheap lunch buffet. Used to go there every week. Every time I went, there were gorgeous Brazilian women, all of them with fantastic bodies. Somehow they had those bodies despite gorging themselves on that extremely fattening buffet. Don’t know how they did that. Great genetics, I guess.

Huh, they both went vertical for Biden. It does seem to be a bit suspect to say the least.

This is the math I outlined below. Trump had a 100,000 vote lead.

They magically found 120,000 Biden votes at 4 in the morning:

      • Brochettaward

        Alice
        @themodalice
So Wisconsin discovered over 120,000 ballots between 3:30-4:30 in the morning. In just ONE hour

You’re telling me that while Trump was ahead they managed to find 120,000 votes, giving Biden the lead.

        This is outright corruption

      • Sean

Not even a hint of legitimacy.

Blatantly trying to steal an election.

      • Hyperion

Y’all know this is bullshit. The election could have been and should have been called last night.

That they think this is all going away and that the deplorables are just going to accept it is hilarious.

Lie in the bed you made, assholes. This is not a video game.

      • Viking1865

“That they think this is all going away and that the deplorables are just going to accept it is hilarious.”

        They always have before.

It absolutely reeks to me that Ohio was 53% Trump and called very quickly, but on either side of Ohio you have Dem controlled states that gee golly gosh we can’t quite get these votes counted but we know Biden is ahead.

Oh and the downballot GOP loss didn’t happen. The GOP lost one Senate seat, but that was in CO which is a blue state now, Gardner was DOA. The GOP is actually going to gain House seats. So Trump wins the battlegrounds with GOP governors, but somehow in the battlegrounds with Dem governors we have all manner of election bullshit dragging it out?

      • Brochettaward

I turned coverage off at 4am. At that time they were reporting 95% of the vote in in Wisconsin and Trump held a 4 point lead – almost 100,000 votes. Nearly all the votes that came in definitely went Biden. Not just lopsided.

The overall turnout in Wisconsin is ridiculously high.

Here’s an example from one county that Crowder was talking about earlier today. In Kenosha with 96% of votes supposedly in, Trump held a 20 point lead (60% of the vote). Trump ended up only winning that county by 3 points. That’s a massive swing within a county with supposedly already high reporting.

      • Ownbestenemy

Well supposedly some districts accidentally ‘transposed’ numbers; giving Biden Trump’s numbers. Swing 6000 here, 4000 there, hope no one really looks and there you go.

I was talking to my son last night. He voted for Jojo. OK. I told him that I would take Hillary over Biden as POTUS any day, I don’t even have to think about it. He was sort of shocked by that, but that’s only because he’s not as politically literate as I am.

Biden is the worst politician on the planet right now, there is not even anyone who is close.

My kid survives on Claussen’s, and I have to buy every jar I bump into at the store. Even the cashiers give me the “where’d you find those?” when I bring a few jars to checkout.

Nathan’s makes a really good dill pickle, but they’re very, very rare in the wild.

      • The Hyperbole

I’d like to blame it on the Covid nonsense, but honestly, it’s been a problem for a few years now, maybe not occurring as often as it has been recently, but I recall being occasionally pickle shorted in the pre-covid times. Once 3 or 4 years back the entire refrigerated pickle case was empty and I thought maybe it was a mechanical malfunction (something to do with the thermostat no doubt) so I asked the first Iobot I found where they had moved the pickles, and he said we didn’t move them they’re simply sold out.

      • Mojeaux

  33. Ownbestenemy

Stepping outside of the presidential race, here is what I hope people have learned, but know that they have not:

    1) Pollsters were wrong – extremely wrong. There is a reason people hold a general distrust of those 5pm random phone calls from potential spam.
    2) GOP made significant inroads with hispanic/latino, black, and women. Probably will be glossed over.
    3) The Media effectively scared the shit out of them, allowing states to make literally last minute changes to election laws under the guise of emergency orders. Probably don’t care cause it got OMB out
    4) FOX News engaged in 2000 media electioneering by calling states super early, under weird pretenses.
    5) Sometimes you have to dump the president, increase your down-ticket voting and see how the dice roll out (this one didn’t need to be learned, it probably is what happened).
    6) Mail-in-ballots invite fraud, chaos, chicanery and just cause it worked out for you this time, don’t be surprised when your ‘moderate’ candidate is decided they are no longer needed next election.

    • Count Potato

“2) GOP made significant inroads with hispanic/latino, black, and women. Probably will be glossed over.”

They are obsessing about it now.

“4) FOX News engaged in 2000 media electioneering by calling states super early, under weird pretenses.”

    • R C Dean

Of interest: Trump carried both NE and ME by wide margins. If NE and ME did their delegates statewide like normal states, Biden would need to win more than just NV to win.

      • Jarflax cancelled Cancelled

No he didn’t. he won NE, but Biden got one elector, he lost ME but got one elector, if they both did statewide delegates the totals would be the same

So Fox is now calling WI AZ and MI for Biden. Fox has consistently slow rolled calling Trump States and been first to call Biden States this election, while the more left leaning media has been more cautious. I wonder if the idea is to have the “right wing” company push the Biden win out in order to give the fraud an aura of legitimacy, while the openly left wing media pretend to be above the fray by leaving States uncalled.

    • Raven Nation

Well, you know, Trump stole 2016 with the help of his Kremlin collaborators so turnabout is fair play.

Murdoch isn’t really an ideological conservative. He’s a just a guy who wants to make money and saw an untapped market. So he differentiated Fox News to serve that market and they were highly successful.
