All Star Cryptid ‘vid Review

by | Dec 4, 2020 | Big Government, Cryptids, Liberty, Musings | 225 comments

Seems that today is a day to discuss the various Government squashings of liberty in the name of SAFETY! The Cryptids now bring their own … special viewpoints to the site, and chime in too.

Take it away, Cryptids!

COVID Hands!!!!

ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN ONES. ZARDOZ STILL HAS DISAPPOINT. THE GREAT VIRAL CLEANSING WAS PROMISED, AND THE BRUTALS HAVE NOT BEEN DROPPING LIKE FLIES. SURELY YOU CAN DRAG A FEW MORE RULERS LIKE THOSE OF YOUR CALIFORNIA, NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY FORTH, TO IMPRISON THE BRUTALS AT HOME, WHERE THEY CAN MOULDER AND BE CLEANSED BY OTHER CAUSES TOO! GET CRACKING ON THAT.

ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.

WHYCOME GOVERNMENT WARN HOOMANS AWAY?

STEVE SMITH NOT HAPPY. CAMPER AND HIKER GET TOLD “HIDE! NO GO IN WOODS!” THEM SAY “Fewer, shorter and safer interactions are crucial.” STEVE SMITH BUILT FOR COMFORT, NOT BUILT FOR SPEED! … OK, HIM BUILT FOR RAPE, BUT THAT NOT POINT. THIS MAKE STEVE SMITH ANGRIFIED – “Staying home is still safest. If you do go out, keep it quick, keep your distance and wear a face covering. Recreate and do business locally to avoid spreading the virus across county lines. Limit the number of people outside your household that you gather with every week.” HIM NO IN PRISON! GRAHHHHH!!!!!!!! HIM WANT GO HAVE LUNCH WITH OTHER CRYPTID, OR CAMPER (BY LUNCH, MEAN…) HIM DO SO!

FREE CASCADIA!

IT CAUSE BY THE COVIDS!!!

SEA SMITH NOT MIND SILLY LAND HOOMAN “GUIDANCE“. IT MAKE SHIP SIT AROUND FIGURE OUT WHAT DO. THEN SEA SMITH GET VISIT SHIP. BY VISIT, MEAN RAPE. AND TRUST SEA SMITH, HIM NEED HELP WITH SHIP. TOO MANY LAND HOOMANS NOT GO ON CRUISE… IT BEEN BAD TIME. SEA SMITH STUCK WITH MERCHANT MARINE HOOMANS. NEED VARIETY – “VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE CRYPTID RAPE!” SEA SMITH SAY, GO ON CRUISE!

COME ON IN, WATER IS FINE!

Saw the monolith pic earlier this week, and knew I’d see it here eventually. Perfect.

    • Nephilium

So an art group claimed responsibility for the monoliths. They’re selling them for $45,000 each now.

      • LemonGrenade

Without photographic evidence showing them installing the things, I harbor a doubt.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

        Yep

      • Jarflax

and almsot certainly some asshole will decide to fine them and charge them some ungodly amount of money suposedly spent investigating the installation.

    • westernsloper

First time I saw it and it got a legit LOL.

  2. Rebel Scum

ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN ONES.

This claim about the ones Zardoz has chosen is disputed.

    • Animal

      Speak for yourself.

    • DEG

I did have to pay for my own Gift of the Gun. No check from Zardoz.

      • Swiss Servator

I think he has gone damn near broke on ammo…

      • Not Adahn

.455 Webley was never the cheapest cartridge to begin with…

  3. Aloysious

    HAIL COWDOZ!

Do you think we could round useless politicians up into one area so you can land on them and squish them into a paste like product?

  4. Rebel Scum

Recreate and do business locally to avoid spreading the virus across county lines.

“The virus” what the war in 1984 is. It is that thing in the background that is always lurking that the government uses to control you.

    Also lurking are the SMITHS.

  5. Yusef drives a Kia

    MONOLITH SMITH!

    • Tres Cool

      SCULTPOR SMITH ?

SURELY YOU CAN DRAG A FEW MORE RULERS LIKE THOSE OF YOUR CALIFORNIA, NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY FORTH, TO IMPRISON THE BRUTALS AT HOME, WHERE THEY CAN MOULDER AND BE CLEANSED BY OTHER CAUSES TOO! GET CRACKING ON THAT.

Wait for January 20th when the Harris-placeholder takes office.

“Staying home is still safest. If you do go out, keep it quick, keep your distance and wear a face covering. Recreate and do business locally to avoid spreading the virus across county lines. Limit the number of people outside your household that you gather with every week.”

    WTF?

    • Yusef drives a Kia

I have to drive to another county for work, am I a SUPERSPREADER?!!!

      • DEG

I don’t wear a mask except for a couple of places where I cave.

I grocery shopped today without a mask.

My gym is one of the places I cave, but only in the lobby area. I ignore the Clown Prince’s latest edict everywhere else in the gym.

      • DEG

Oh… and for Thanksgiving I was at an event with 20 people. No masks. We shook hands and hugged.

This weekend I’ll be at an event with about 80 people. There will be no masks worn.

      • Heroic Mulatto

Oh, you’ll be at the Great Southern NH Swinger’s Orgy too?

      • DEG

We’ll miss each other. This event is up north.

      • Not Adahn

Dividing NH into regions is just adorbs.

      • Fourscore

Like all Glibs you are a superspreader, of ideas, of charm, of intellect. Me, I’m just an average run of the mill bullshitter.

      • Swiss Servator

As a lawyer, I am trying to be an above average bullshitter…

    • KSuellington

Resist! My biz has not been affected in the least by the shutdowns, if anything I may actually have had my best year yet for it, but I am livid at what they have done to small biz here. I know and have worked for a lot of them. And now, after all the restaurants that survived invested 20k and upwards to build outdoor dining set ups, they pull out the rug on them and fuck them one last time in the ass Steve Smith style, no lube.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

My new gig is for a GC, he says business is booming, I hope so….
this is in Central Michigan, go figure….

      • KSuellington

Right on, good luck with it. Here all the trade people I know have been pretty slammed this year. Lots of people at home equals lots of people wanting home improvements I guess.

      • hayeksplosives

Yeah, we got our fireplace masonry done, a ceiling repair, and some tree removal.

The bids were pretty reasonable. Especially if we paid in cash.

      • KSuellington

Heh, heh, right on, yes cash talks to the people doing trades, it is very much still accepted gladly.

      • DEG

        Hopefully it goes well.

      • Jarflax

I had no business for 2 months, but have more than made up for it since. My worry is that the ill effects on those of us not directly hurt will show up in 6-18 months as the damage works its way downstream.

      • rhywun

as the damage works its way downstream

        Seriously.

My industry is insurance, mostly warranty and small business stuff. If people stop buying iPhones and running mom’n’pops, I’m out of a job.

      • Swiss Servator

…until I steal you for my Swiss Masters.

      • Fourscore

Some may never recover, financially or emotionally. The unseen.

      • Tundra

We were cranking earlier this year, but we have definitely taken a monster hit. If commercial construction continues to suck ass, everything else will follow.

      • Don escaped Two Corinthians

yup: some things built out, but more is on hold; I have no reason to believe that anything I’ve quoted (other than the occasional boiler replacement) recently will sell this year

      • Tundra

We sell to commercial suppliers and everyone is skinnying the shit out of inventory.

Not gonna lie – starting to get concerned.

      • Don escaped Two Corinthians

This morning I dusted, played chess, took my parents to lunch, and never went back to the office.

      • DEG

These folks are taking at least one case of a business fucked over by the Clown Prince’s edicts.

I’ve given them some money and plan to give more.

      • KSuellington

Jarflax I believe you are correct and we will be seeing the ill effects for years from this shitshow. Doubtful that the correct lessons will be learned though. Right on DEG, good to see pushback in any form it takes.

      • blackjack

I’ve gotten all my raises and the retro pay from them, the stimulus check, insurance check from my stolen car, no more payments on them, and I’m saving 300 a month in gas with the Saturn Sky over the TBSS. So far, I’ve saved about an extra 10g this year over last year. I know a lot of people who are going the other way, and it pisses me off. Of course, the city’s talking about massive layoffs, but I doubt I’ll be axed. I work in a badly understaffed department.

  7. rhywun

OK, I went to the swag page and I can’t find that mask*.

    Want.

*But I did get a good laugh out of the “My Other Car Is Your Mom” section of the store.

    • PudPaisley

That reminds me of a funny mask I seen:

“My Other Mask is a Gun”

    • Tundra

Popular snowboard sticker: “My other ride is your mom”

    • Rebel Scum

The mask does do something. The mask is a mind control device.

      • rhywun

        ?

      • But Enough About My Pulsating, Geriatric Pecs

That’s the mask I wear every time I’m forced to do so. I bought several for friends and family, as well as a couple of Mike Rowe’s “Safety Third” masks.

  8. rhywun

THEM SAY “Fewer, shorter and safer interactions are crucial.”

I’m close to punching the next person who says “Stay safe!” in the face. Or just punching a hole in the wall if it’s on TV, which is far more likely these days anyway.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

I get a few huffs now and again, I’m over it, they get a polite Fuck off as I walk away, It’s over, they can Fuck Right Off,

      • blackjack

The first rule of safety is, if it looks sketchy, try to talk the new guy into doing it.

      • kinnath

I ordered several Mike Rowe Safety Third face masks. They should show up in a week or so.

They tell of God and his love for us
      And his power too” ?

  9. Fourscore

“THE GREAT VIRAL CLEANSING WAS PROMISED”

The cleansing is working through the worldly providers. Even governors take time but by golly, they’re on top of the cleansing with the lock downs, masking, etc. While it may take some time they are working, getting folks depressed, suicidal, developing even a worst educational system than the old style.

The difficulty is that there are a lot of non-cooperating people out there.

ZARDOZ knows the solution but not means the big people are using. Hang in there, ZARDOX, you’ll see, things will get worse , don’t get depressed.

  10. commodious spittoon

I just had a really lovely talk with mom.

I always dread it, but this was nice.

I really love to hear from mom.

    • Don escaped Two Corinthians

      I bought my folks lunch.

I keep hammering on Mom for her identity politics, her soft bigotries, and the consistent and broad incompetence of all governments at all levels. She knows she has no answer.

    • Fourscore

Good to hear, CS, Moms are important and you are important for your Mom. They need our reassurances as well.

    • LemonGrenade

We’re going to head out to Oklahoma and visit my mother and my mother in law for Christmas. My mother is a totally red-pilled right-winger. My mother-in-law is a reflexive orange man bad lifelong democrat that nevertheless doesn’t buy into coronapanic. Both of them in the same house; it’s gonna be lit.

After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, my father passed away early this year. I never liked his wife, but she treated the whole thing wonderfully. I know how much it means to her, and dad would have wanted it, so…

You’re a good guy Zwak. Make dad proud.

        Again, too, my condolences.

Called to make an eye exam appointment. My optometrist retired. Now I’ve got some new guy after 35+ years. 2020 continues to trend downward.

    • Don escaped Two Corinthians

where’d your new guy go to eyeball school?

    • rhywun

Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever visited the same eye joint twice. And I’ve been a four-eyes since the mid-70s.

      • Gustave Lytton

Since it would be only every 3-5 years for a new exam, I would drive back to do my eye exams. Didn’t see any reason to switch to a new practice.

      • blackjack

        Didn’t see any reason

        Didn’t see?

      • Tres Cool

Keep an eye out for a new optometrist.

(also the guy Ive been going to for the past couple years hung it up too. Im assuming lack of business this spring did him in)

OT – Misa at Japanese Ammo has two useful videos on the JLPT N5 and N4.

I recall that you tried N5.

The N5 one was no surprise, but she caught me on two questions on the N4 examples.

      • Gustave Lytton

I haven’t checked my YT feed lately so overlooked those. Thanks!

I have been watching that Japanese truck driver’s channel. Tickles me that he uses the passenger seat as a genkan for his “home”. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him climb directly into the drivers side.

      • Sensei

That channel cracked me up when I discovered it.

Actually, we’re just going to ban all weapons of war. Which means all automatic rifles. Which means all semi-automatic weapons. Which means every modern rifle in production.

You deplorables sure need a lot of progsplaining.

    • blackjack

Lever guns are cool. You can top up the mag as you go. You can match your ammo to your wheel gun and just fill your pockets with loose rounds.

    • hayeksplosives

      Great video!

    • UnCivilServant

Sure, if you’ve got someone handing you the reloads, two seconds per aimed shot is easy.

    • Gustave Lytton

      Was expecting Jerry Miculek.

  17. UnCivilServant

Does anyone know much about Makita Tools in general and this guy in particular? I don’t know their reputation.

    • Gustave Lytton

Good quality mass market tools, same as Bosch or Milwaukee (after the repositioning) or DeWalt. Not a bargain basement brand like Ryobi. Most are no longer made in Japan.

No experience with that specific compressor but seems a bit on the pricey side for the size of the air tank. What’s your anticipated use? 1 gallon is awfully small.

      • UnCivilServant

Do you know where they are made nowadays?

      • Gustave Lytton

Hand power tools seem to mostly be made in China, but they manufacture all over including in USA.

      • UnCivilServant

I hate that I can’t find out before I order

      • zwak

A lot of industrial sites will list COO due to many business and gov requirements. Grainger does, for example.

      • PudPaisley

It seems like all the homeowner power tools are made overseas now.

The only stuff made here seems to be the higher end commercial and industrial quality tools. For example, Ingersaoll Rand still makes air compressors in the US, but they usually start around 2 grand.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m okay with overseas, I just don’t want Chinese.

      • Plinker762

From my experience all the Makita at Home Depot is made in China.

I also have an older Makita Recip Saw that has been excellent.

I have had good luck with their cordless drills and impact wrenches except for one drill which had an out of round chuck.

    • Tundra

What are you using it for?

      • UnCivilServant

My primary use is clearing dust from inconvenient areas of minis and workspaces. I could either buy canned air after canned air, or one compressor that may have future alternate utility.

      • Tundra

        Perfect. Buy it.

      • Gustave Lytton

Agreed. Big selling point seems to be the relatively quiet (60db) operation. Really would make a difference for using it in an enclosed space and you’re not using that much air for that sort of thing.

      • Sensei

I saw a review by someone who repairs PC and electronics. Compared compact compressor to the Compucleaner 2.0 and found the compucleaner did just as well and was far more convenient.

That said a compressor is far more versatie.

      • Tundra

It will be perfect for what he’s doing, plus it will run an air brush like a dream.

        And it looks cool.

      • UnCivilServant

I’d stick with a compressor for the versitility.

If I don’t go with a base compressor, I might look for an airbrush compressor, for well, the airbrush options.

      • Sensei

As Tundra noted it will run an airbrush with no problems. Buy a dryer for it, however, if you use it for that.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m not even sure what I’d search for to find that part.

(I have been seeing airbrushes that can connect to standard compressor hoses)

    • blackjack

Makita is generally high quality. That compressor is very light duty, though. Make it sure it’s capable of what you want it to do. That’s the lowest end of compressors output wise.

      • UnCivilServant

For my use case it may be too big. See reply to tundra.

      • blackjack

Yeah, it’ll do that well enough. Just don’t expect to use anything air hungry tools with it. They mostly use those with nail guns where it’s a small blast of air every once in a while. You probably will want an adjustable air chuck, because that compressor will give a good strong blast initially. It’s just not capable of sustaining it very long at all.

      • Festus' Mustache's tits keep calm and carry on.

When I worked a woodworking company the guys on the line used Milwaukee for the scut work and Makita for the finishing. That was 25 years ago so who knows what the market is now? My hand drills are Makita but we have to buy knock-off batteries.

    • hayeksplosives

I have a Makita impact drill that has been used and abused.

Small sample size but my experience was good.

      • UnCivilServant

Thank you. I may have to wait until after the holidays.

Just to avoid spending too much.

    • Hyperion

I have a few Makita power tools. They were really good back in the day. I think I have a Sawzall and a corded drill. After I started buying mostly Bosch and other higher end stuff.

I think at the time, Makita was made in Japan.

    • Hyperion

I opened another can of DAB. Am I an elitist too?

      • PudPaisley

I used to love Dortmunder beer. I’d always get the personal keg when tailgating before Bears or Badgers games.

My favorite hometown bar had Dortmunder light and Dortmunder dark on tap for years. I’d drink a couple 6-8 of each, then end the night with some German “Black and Tans”.

  18. Festus' Mustache's tits keep calm and carry on.

Fucking Karens. They shut down Judi’s last Market of the year for “reasons”. Food vendors are A-OK but apparently arts and crafts seem to be a disease vector. They did it while she was loading up the truck this morning. Costco, Wal-Mart and every other retail place seem to be trundling on quite happily. She’s acting fairly stoic thus far but I know that inside she is crushed. She spent the last three weeks creating inventory specifically for this sale. All that work for naught. She is getting a lot of dings on her Faceplant site, so all is not quite lost yet. Limber-dicked cock-suckers just cost us a couple of grand. Grandaughter #1 was supposed to come up for the weekend to help with the sale. That’s time that can never be replaced. I’m livid.

    • hayeksplosives

Your Rita are perfectly justified to be anything but calm.

This picking and choosing winners is totally arbitrary, and it serves to prolong the outrage breaking point.

If the disease spread is really what they want to protect us from, then they’d shut down EVERYTHING , but that would have sparked outraged public demonstrations.

This way they can do the slow boil of us frogs.

      • Festus' Mustache's tits keep calm and carry on.

Pool is getting a tad warm, isn’t it? Two weeks ago they mandated masks. I expect another shut down to perfectly coincide with the Holiday season. Where the fuck is my “hero pay”?

    • rhywun

      Sorry 🙁

      That’s enraging.

    • Tundra

      Sorry, brother.

I’m kind of shocked that my constant rage hasn’t fried my circuits.

Does she have an online site we could check out and share?

  19. hayeksplosives

On Wed night, i saw a wether app alert warning of high winds. They said they might have to turn off the power to prevent fires.

At 11pm, power was cut. My CPAP stopped—a rude awakening. I took a shower to make sure there was heated water for me.

Then yesterday I learned it was a 72 hour Power outage!!! Not scheduled to be back until Saturday at 11pm. Wed-Thurs it really was windy; lots of downed branches and debris.

So we grilled last night, and today I took my phones and some other items to work to charge.

Fortunately the high winds died down, so they turned the power back on this afternoon.

Last night was kind of nice. Sat by the fireplace and listened to the radio (my Grundig AM/FM/SW/NOAA).

Still, it’s good to have juice again.

    • Sensei

      Glad you’re back!

With quality electric delivery like this CA’s move to electric vehicles is sure to be painless.

      • hayeksplosives

Yeah, I’m seriously considering reprioritizing my next big purchase. The Tesla Wall battery system wis looking good right about now.

Then I could use my own solar panels day and night.

The way it is now, the SDG&E setup prevents me from using my solar if they’ve cut off the grid power.

I might have to Thomas Massie my way around this shit.

      • Tundra

The way it is now, the SDG&E setup prevents me from using my solar if they’ve cut off the grid power.

        Wut?

      • Sensei

Many solar systems won’t work if the electricity goes down. It’s partly done for safety so as to not energize a line where a crew may not expect it.

Some utilities will refuse to let you provide power to the grid regardless if you have the proper safety systems in place.

      • hayeksplosives

The solar goes into an SDG&E junction box so that excess power from the solar panels can be sold back to the grid.

I can see why they wouldn’t want excess power flow onto the grid if it’s being shut down for fire safety. But why they can’t automatically keep it from flowing to grid while still powering my house is beyond me.

Anyway, Massie, an MIT engineer, has some DYI tips on how to bypass that crap.

Thanks to both of you. Sounded absurd at first.

I watched Massie’s videos on his compound and was very inspired. You should totally do that to your place!

There are other grid tie solar system with battery storage, but heaven knows who does them and how they are approved in CA.

Tesla (and SpaceX) know how to brilliantly play the regulatory and subsidy game.

How do people put up with that shit?!

      • Festus' Mustache's tits keep calm and carry on.

The same way that they put up with chocolate rations being doubled.

      • hayeksplosives

It’s unfortunate that I’m reading about the snd of the Soviet Union and the rise of what took its place. The waiting in line, having stuff cancelled w/ no notice, no believable news reporting, ruling party oppressing its rivals…

It seems like the “Stay in your house and wear a mask! For safety!” fits in with that pattern.

I believe it’s safe to say that the United States and our freedoms have hit their peak some years ago, and we are coasting our way to mediocrity or worse from here on out.

      • Festus' Mustache's tits keep calm and carry on.

I think “peak freedom” happened just before I started sporting ill-timed boners and ended with the AIDS crisis. It’s all been downhill since then.

Just try living in Baltimore, where the power goes off every fucking time it rains. When I first moved here, the electric was off more than the prior 55 years of my life combined, in the first month, no matter where I lived. Yes, I mean more than every time combined for 55 years, in a month.

    • straffinrun

No one needs more than 21 watts.

You know, this is really weird. But I’ve lived in the same place now for 6 years, going on 7 and I have never heard a train here before.

Now, I think this pandemic shit and never leaving the house much has changed my sleep patterns. Or maybe it’s not that, maybe it’s just age.

But anyway, I’ve entered into a pattern of sleep where I will doze off maybe between 10pm and 12am, but I will wake up at like 3-4am. When I do that, I just come to my puter and browse the web, get something to eat and drink and wait to get sleepy again, which usually takes an hour or two, then I go back to sleep until the alarm goes off at 9am.

I started hearing the distant barely detectable sounds of trains a couple of weeks ago, and I thought, is that a train? I’ve never heard a train here before. But for the last couple of nights it got loud enough that I could be sure it was a train. Last night, this happened several times in the space of a couple hours between 2 and 4am, and it was so loud, it sounded like it was right outside my door.

So I checked online for freight lines near here and sure enough, there is a CSXT line about 5 miles south of here. But the damn thing was so loud last night it sounded like it was right out back here, I could even hear the wheels clacking on the tracks. WTF?

    • UnCivilServant

The train comes through town at around 5-6 am here. Most of the time I don’t notice it.

But on other sounds, I hear more stuff that I didn’t used to. I need some background noise to cover it or I get neurotic.

Over the last week, I even got confused at the sound of rain.

    • Festus' Mustache's tits keep calm and carry on.

Humidity or air density? A few years ago we had wildfires and the air was thick with smoke. I heard a conversation between neighbors that were standing on the street 100′ away and they may as well have been standing right next to me.

    • hayeksplosives

I used to live about two blocks from a train that ran parallel to the Mississippi.

Never really heard the train until the leaves fell each autumn. The really absorb and break up the noise.

      • Festus' Mustache's tits keep calm and carry on.

Silly girl… What do you know of Physics and Chemistry?

      LOL that sounds familiar.

      • UnCivilServant

I doze off around 5 pm, and wake up between 8 and 10 pm.

And then I have other random periods of sleepiness.

      • rhywun

Except my alarm goes off at 6:30 and I wake up around 5:30 or 6 every day, even weekends. ?

Something about this year has turned me into a morning person.

Yes she does but the shipping costs have proved prohibitive. These are fragile works and I see daily how Postal workers treat the mail. She’d have to jack her prices. Packaging costs and such what-not. Here’s her site – aweepeek. Just google it because I lack the link-fu. The facebook one has way more images.

It’s a store on Etsy called “aweepeek” (y’know, “a wee peek”). Very nice framed B&W images from what I could see. Found it via simple Google search.

      • Gender Traitor

One of my sisters works for a stained glass studio, and one of my SILs has a pottery shop, so I understand about the “heart and souls” part.
