I’m not saying I’m going to get a lot more done without OMWC shuffling around and cluttering up the SPace, but….
OMWC and Spud will be drinking and cooking and eating all weekend in Idaho and Wonder Dog and I will be holding down the fort here in Arizona. And cleaning it. And reorganizing it. (OMWC won’t be able to find a thing when he gets back. Feature or bug? You decide.)
That’s it for the excitement here.
Shall we see what’s happening elsewhere? Yes, we shall.
Until they got to the part about having the taxpayers fraudulently pay for the healthcare, I was OK with this.
But what is the COVID status of these people?
Hope the Alaska Glib Contingent is OK.
Well. I don’t have anything to say to this.
OMWC always said this was his favorite food city in France. (And not a pineapple in sight.)
And some music. Not literally about cleaning, but.
I should just, I dunno….nevermind.
whaddup ?
Oh well, whatever…. nevermind?

“Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a statement that Petersen allegedly falsified information to place the Marshallese women on state-funded health care to cover delivery costs. The scheme defrauded the state out of more than $814,000, according to Brnovich.”
It costs $20K to deliver a baby?
Yes
Depends on what courier service you use.
$24k was our unadjusted total this time around.
About the same.
We paid $8400, $1400 or so upfront. When the dust settled we got a check from our insurance company for around $8500. It was weird. 2.5 years ago.
No spinal, none of the fancy modern stuff.
That sounds about right. C-section will bump to the 30k range.
We found a midwife that has her own birthing center. Private room with a queen-sized bed, hot tub, and kitchen. 1:1 support during the entire process. She charged less than $3k, including prenatal visits, and would bill insurance. We ended up not using her but it’s a great option for many people. Not surprisingly, the medical lobby has fought hard to outlaw midwife services in many states.
Maybe I should have said whirlpool instead of hot tub, since a hot tub is probably contraindicated for pregnant women. Giant rectangular tub regardless.
Whirlpool? She puts the mother in a washing machine and shakes the baby out?
Saves on cleaning costs
We worked with a midwife practice with kiddo #1, but they sent us to a hospital when they started getting (false) IUGR indications. Wife wanted to deliver in a hospital anyway.
We didn’t have a great experience with them, but I don’t think it was anything in particular about the midwives (they had OBs on staff, too, and it was a shoddy sono tech that made us go through a bunch of crap).
If you have insurance, I bet it “costs” that much.
We had our first kid with no insurance. We enrolled in a program where we paid $900 and got all the good stuff. The hook was that it was part of the U of Tennessee nursing program, so all the treatments we got included nursing students who were learning.
Unfortunately my wife didn’t go along with the program and needed a c-section. I forget how much more that was supposed to cost, but when the collections department called I told them we were uninsured and poor as shit. They immediately dropped the price by a lot and I think the total was around $3K. But all numbers are based on my crappy memory.
I don’t remember the final tally for my kids, but $20k looks about right.
I recently had jaw surgery but the surgeon didnt take my insurance. They told me they had people that were good at negotiating with insurance companies. I said “ok lemme know”
Called me back a few days later and told me my out of pocket would be 12k. I told them i would just find a different doc. They said hold off, two days later said they would do it for 2500. I sa
Im still gonna look for someone who will be covered fully. Ten minutes later the doctor called me back and said it was all taken care of. Zero out of pocket.
Should have tried to see if they would have paid me for the surgery.
I discovered Menthe a l’Eau in Lyon. Refreshing beverage.
Mint water? 😉
Mint syrup (not water with a sprig of mint). Lyon is hot in summer. I could have drunk that shizz by the gallon.
I liked Menthe a l’Eau, but on a hot day, particularly when you’ve been cycling, a panaché goes better pour moi.
Damn. Now I’m said that I can’t travel and see mes cousines en France. :-/
And what’s this bullshit I hear about youse folks in the U.S. getting some kinda vaccine pass from the CDC? What’s next, “papieren, bitte”? Will the new CDC uniforms be designed by Hugo Boss?
We almost certainly will be required to show vaccination papers to go anywhere, within a few months.
Jacques Pépin is from Lyon; what more does one need?
I take it you recommend that cleaning book?
I adore Jacques.
Cleaning book: she’s really good. Watch a bunch of her YouTube videos to get a feel for it.
Saw this from one of Walter Williams students:
As Williams persisted well beyond retirement age, his passion for economics undimmed, he was the kind of man that made you say, “He’s going to teach until the day he dies.” On Dec. 1, he taught his last class of ECON 811 to complete the semester, ending the 7:20-10:00 p.m. block around 30 minutes early, as was typical. Fewer than 12 hours later, he died, aged 84.
Wow, not only did he teach until he died, he managed to finish the semester. That should earn some type of award. Impressive dedication.

Really love this part:
He pursued that strategy while not really running for office, hunkering down in his Delaware basement. This helps explain a recent Morning Consult poll that found that 44% of his supporters said they were chiefly voting against Trump.
Added the bolding.
44%? That’s what? Three people?
Yeah 3 people 34,000,00o votes. It’s not how many supporters you have; it’s how willing they are to cheat.

It’s not that Biden was nasty – though calling the president a “racist” and a “clown” at the first debate was downright Trumpian.
I mean, “racist” is basically the worst insult in our present society. How much more nasty could he have been?
Also, the implication of his slogan that he was battling for the soul of America was not exactly pleasant.
That kinda sounds like Satan’s gig.

But according to juris, that isn’t evidence. Because, you know, we don’t know whose names were on those ballots, or something.
Kinda gives more creedence to the claims of them shutting down the counting and kicking republicans out in different parts of the country. All swing states too which is strange.
It all also aligns with the rumored fraud process that has supposedly happened in the past. My biases are very much being confirmed by this.
I don’t know if the data is available to audit this, but it wouldn’t shock me in the slightest if the electronic reporting of some of these interesting spikes is out of sync with when the actual paper ballots were processed. Specifically, add the votes to the count early and catch up with fraudulent paper ballots later in the night once they know how many they need.
All that said, if those people in that video aren’t sitting in the basement of the FBI building in Atlanta, each separately being advised of exactly how much time they’re gonna be serving in “pound me in the ass” prison if they don’t squeal, then nothing will come of this.
If nothing changes, the biggest reason will be because if we implemented actual accountability, the wrong people might win, or at least not outright lose, the culture war. Every single political or politics-adjacent “issue” nowadays is really just a constant rehash of the culture war, primarily perpetrated by the sore winners.
Devil’s advocate – do they have a continuous tape for the entire day showing that the ballots under the table were there BEFORE the boxes of presumably valid ballots started arriving in the counting center? Because what I’m seeing is people pulling ballots out of a place that may or may not have had valid ballots sloppily stored there before the upper tape started rolling.
Ballots stored in non-approved containers that have no valid reason whatsoever to be used for holding ballots and the give that impression of impropriety even if used to store valid ballots — check
Ballots from said non-approved containers counted without the legally required witnesses — check.
Best Case Scenario is that everyone on that tape should be explaining to the Feds why they are merely incompetent and not criminal.
They sent the republicans home at this point though. There really is no explaining this away, everyone knows whats going on there.
I beg to differ. Not a single respectable journalist knows anything about what’s going on there or anywhere else.
I have been pretty skeptical of the claims of fraud so far, because most of them have been easily disproven. This, however, is damning if it bears out, and it shouldn’t be hard to prove one way or the other.
I actually thought Biden was going to win, but after what i saw on election night, i know they stole this election, but until now i havent seen anything that would actually get a state to not give its electorals to Biden.
577,000 to 3,022 in 90 minutes in favor of Biden tells me all i need to know, shutting down counting in certain places in the middle of the night is all i had to hear, but that stuff wasnt enough.
I still think more damning evidence is coming too.
Same here Jerms. I had seen quite a few red flags and a handful of pieces of very interesting circumstantial evidence. This is the first dispositive proof I’ve seen of coordinated fraud. Even if they were able to explain away the video as being taken out of context or not being what it looks like, what is on the tape alone is damning evidence of election ruining incompetence at its most naively innocent.
The fact that the right leaning political insiders have been squawking about this exact mode of fraud for 3 election cycles (or more, but I’ve only been aware of it since ’08), makes that innocent take laughable.
577,000 to 3,022 in 90 minutes in favor of Biden
Source please, I have seen Biden ‘bumps’ but nothing like those numbers.

Ah, 337,000 votes “in that time frame” (90 minutes), close to 600,000 in “all those spikes” (non specified time frame)
With that admittedly pedantic nit out of the way, where are they getting the numbers from? I have a hard time taking Rudy seriously when he’s been so blatantly wrong, para ejempo, Counting MI votes and comparing them to MN populations, confusing primary absentee ballot requests with the general election absentee ballots returns, Claiming 170,000 ballots in Detroit had no registered voters, or over 200% turnout. Every time I am able to check the actual numbers (yes Blackjack the numbers could all be completely fabricated) they don’t jibe with what Rudy is telling me.
The best tinfoil.

Nice.
LOL at youtube’s disclaimer: “Robust safeguards help ensure the integrity of elections and results”. Yeah, even if there’s not enough proof to show that Biden cheated to win, there’s plenty of proof that this election did not have robust safeguards in place to ensure its integrity.
Notice that people are gathered anyway.
Rockefeller Tree Lighting view is completely blocked to stop people from gathering to watch the tree lighting tonight. Blocking the view has not discouraged crowds from congregating.
De Blasio is the Grinch without the redemption arc
His balls grew three sizes that day.
How dumb do you have to be to think that the best way to keep people from watching your tree lighting is to park buses in front of it, instead of just not lighting it? If they really didn’t want crowds, they wouldn’t be going through with a spectacle. Just flip it on at some random time without warning or fanfare if you want to keep people away.
Politicians need to get themselves on the teevee, tho. Speechifyin’ n’ shit.
“If I were Facebook, I would be a lot more worried than if I were Google,” Chakravorti said. “Public sentiment against Facebook is a whole lot more negative than public sentiment against Google.”
There you have it. The mob hath spake.
Google is more terrifying, by far.
“Don’t be evil”
Which has always seemed like a tell. Like, that’s what the slogan of some two dimensional dystopian villainous corporation would be, yet they slapped it on their company.
Ah, the distinction you see is be versus do – you may indeed have to DO evil, but strive to not BE evil (like enjoying DOing the evil things that we tell you to do).
That is a very interesting point. I had not thought about it like that (at least not consciously), but it makes a lot of sense.
That’s the price for conducting one of the most negative campaigns in American history. It’s not that Biden was nasty – though calling the president a “racist” and a “clown” at the first debate was downright Trumpian. It’s that he ran as the Candidate of Not. He was not Trump. He was not a radical leftist. He was not against fracking, not against the police, not a supporter of antifa – except when he was, which took us into the realm of the double negative campaign.
If you squint real hard, that kind of makes him look like our next Calvin Coolidge. Do-nothingism, FTW!
Haha, right.
Yeah, not even Swiss can gin up that narrowed of a gaze.
A nice article where they give all sorts of compliments to a GOP chairman from Wisconsin. So I don’t want to hear any more complaining about how the media is always ripping on the GOP.
These voters did nothing wrong.
Perhaps not, but many others did.
pervasive but baseless
The standard of evidence and burden of proof on this has gotten so high that it makes the “actual malice” standard of NYT v. Sullivan look mild in comparison.
Also, if you’re going to claim that people are being disenfranchised shouldn’t you first need to prove that the ballots being disqualified belong to living legal voters who willingly cast them?
Italics should have terminated after “NYT v. Sullivan”.
Dammit! Now I need to change the combination on my luggage.

I want to believe.
BREAKING – Monolith appears on Atascadero’s Pine Mountain, CA.
Unless, of course, it is a precursor to an invasion, which would likely be peak 2020.
Don’t be silly. The Arecibo collapse was the precursor to the invasion. The monoliths are just an art project.
I’m very afraid for the VLA now
According to some eccentric YouTuber Arecibo was only looking at the upper atmosphere for incoming ICBMs and was not actually optimized for space scanning.
Well, that depends on the role I’d end up with after the invasion.
If you travel all the way to another planet and go to the trouble of actually putting troops on the ground, you want a significant portion of the world intact. It’s easy to wipe out the local populace from orbit, so an invasion means there’s better chances of survival.
Alternatively you don’t slaughter meat cattle by bombing them from orbit.
If the stories about alien probing are true, then it’s less “don’t slaughter meat cattle” and more “don’t break your (sex) toys”.
Depends on how you define “intact”. In “Footfall”, the aliens wanted to drop an asteroid on Earth for terra-forming purposes.
You’ve got my presuppositions backwards. I said if you are landing troops (ie, invading) you want a big chunk the way it is now.
Dropping big rocks on the place seems at odds with bothering to land troops.
It’s been a while since I read the book, but I think they had troops on planet already.
They might have had plans to pull them off-world before the asteroid hit, but I can’t remember.
I never read the book. Can’t say.
They did pull back most troops – that was in between the invasion of the US and the invasion of Africa – they dropped it in the Indian Ocean.
Right. I remember it now.
I refuse to believe that insterstellar aliens are using rivets to hold their monoliths together.
Watch, the ships are going to look like something from Junkyard Wars.
That would make a great story.
I think someone already wrote a story like that. I don’t remember what it was called, but I vaguely remember a story where aliens arrived and they were technologically backward, because their society had discovered that it was possible to lo-tech FTL travel while their society was still relatively primitive.
That’s not the same thing.
Have you ever seen “Junkyard Wars”? Basically the teams are sent into a junkyard (200% likely to have been seeded with useful ‘junk’ beforehand) to make a particular contraption and then see which performs better. You’re lucky if the build survives the competition phase.
It’s less ‘primitve’ more ‘postapocalyptic’.
It’s less ‘primitve’ more ‘postapocalyptic’.
Tomato/tomato to me.
primitive is still built from scratch and can be quite elegant.
Thrown together hastily from scrap is a very different aersthetic.
Upcycling == Trash with a coat of Krylon.
The experts provide concepts in advance; key items were seeded into the junkyard; there was a safety day (off camera) were they took it all apart and put it back together so no one would get killed. . . . And it was still enormously fun and inventive.
The early years of that show were awesome.
Doesn’t have to be “postapocalyptic”.
Just need to be a long journey beyond the normal supply chain so that everything that breaks gets fixed with whatever is at hand.
So you get a conglomeration of multiple civilizations tech strung together in weird ways.
I was trying to come up with an easy one-word descriptor that was more accurate to the look.
OK.
The Kzin in “Man-Kzin Wars” had a low understanding of a lot of technology. They got their FTL technology and I forget what else from other races. They simply copied without understanding.
It’s called Star Wars.
Before SW, the concept of a “used” sci-fi universe didn’t really exist. Most everything looked relatively shiny and new unless it was damaged in battle or something. Of course, stories sometimes featured technologically backward societies, but Lucas pioneered the look of a wear-and-tear world in space.
That’s not the same look either.
Nor the same story.
Well those would be Reaver ships then.
That’s how they throw you off their scent, make you feel at ease. Or they are special, interstellar space rivets.
Now I’m going to have the Close Encounters tones running through my head for the rest of the day.
Please. Any intelligence sufficient to travel the stars would nope the fuck out of 2020. “These beings are too stupid to even be slaves.”
But what if… the aliens want to enslave us… but can’t stand to look at our faces! Naturally they’d make it so humans would want to wear a mask all the time! IT ALL MAKES SENSE!
Why do you people insist on looking for complicated explanations! It is very simple:

AFAIK, good grammar/spelling are not hallmarks of 4chan, so your theory still checks out.

Heh, a couple of my friends grew up there, and a couple of people I knew worked at ASH, Atascadero State Hospital for the criminally insane.
“Curtains for movie theaters? Warner Bros will release its 2021 films – including Matrix 4 and The Suicide Squad – at theaters and on HBO Max at SAME time – in seismic shift that could spell end for cinema”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-9015641/Warner-Bros-release-2021-films-HBO-Max-theaters.html
Movie theaters are gross, uncomfortable, expensive, and they take up a lot of space.
* ducks runs from movie Glibs *
Full of grumpy people too. All those passive aggressive people constantly making “shhhhh” sounds makes it nearly impossible to carry on my conversations with my family about how the movie is going on.
Oh, you are one of those people! $50 to any MinneGlib that will get a business card from a Happy Ending massage parlor and slip it into Pope Jimbo’s pocket where his wife will find it.
I might take that challenge.
Hell, Jimbo would take that challenge. 50 bucks is 2.5 trips downtown.
I’ll give him a big tip if he puts the Happy Ending massage parlor card into my pocket, then quickly pulls it out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again, then puts it into my pocket, then pulls the card out again
Trying to delay long enough to find him in the laundry room?
I didn’t know you were black. I mean Black.
I took the kiddo to Frozen in the local upscale theater the other day. $10 for a kids movie, sitting in recliners, only one other family in the theater. I ended up spending $50 on food and beer because it appeared that the place was hurting something fierce. Probably the best theater experience I’ve had in a decade.
All that said, I hate movie theaters and end up going to one once every 2 years because somebody else really wants to go. Our home theater at our last house was all of the positives of the experience with none of the negatives.
My problem isn’t the theaters, it’s the crap they usually show in the screen.
The Marcus near us is the bomb. It has a bar and a brick pizza place and awesome recliners and plenty of space.
I may try and catch Wonder Woman in a theater before the end of the month – depends on locations and schedules.
I was hoping to watch Fatman – but I’m not sure it’s even playing in any theaters in the area.
The theater near me has been closed since March. I assume it went bankrupt, because I could swear I read just the other day that theaters are “allowed” to open now in NY.
It’s also possible that there just isn’t an opportunity to make money, so they haven’t opened back up. The theater near me was open when that movie Tenet came out, and I was one of only a handful of people in the whole 12 screen complex, and the only one in my cinema. Between people being scared to go out and a dearth of new movies to show, I could see how it would be hard to turn a profit. That theater is now closed, but they still had some of the lights on so I hope it’s not a permanent closure.
“EXCLUSIVE: ‘He’s a loser who did true damage to this country!’ Magician and former Celebrity Apprentice star Penn Jillette slams Donald Trump as a ‘clear villain’ and blames him for thousands of Covid deaths on Michael Cohen’s podcast
Magician and former Celebrity Apprentice star Penn Jillette slammed Donald Trump on Michael Cohen’s new podcast, telling the president’s former lawyer: ‘God damn him to hell’.
In an audio clip exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, Jillette, who spent two seasons on Celebrity Apprentice with Trump, said he was ‘probably responsible for around 100,000 deaths from Covid’ and was a ‘clear villain’.”

Ahem, if I may,
Bullshit.
Yeah it is strange how much Penn hates Trump. Especially since he is such a live and let live guy on so much other stuff.
Trump presents a problem for “libertarians” that pride themselves on crossing the political line or hanging with “intellectuals”.
Penn renounced his self-identified libertarianism some time ago.
Did he?
Too bad he’s a douche.
It really is a shame. I still have a laser-etched steel copy of the Bill of Rights that Penn and Teller were passing out at their show at the Rio. This would have been maybe 2014 or so, when I was in town for the SHOT Show.
Ah well. Kill your heros.
As much as I like Penn & Teller, this is where I lost interest- “…Magician and former Celebrity Apprentice star..”
Hillary backer in ’16 IIRC.
He was also star-struck over Obama. Repeatedly rated him as an way, way, above average intelligence.
Okay, Penn, please specify the “damage” that was done. And explain what anyone would have done differently to prevent those 100,000 deaths and also how these hypothetical measures would stop the spread of a respiratory virus, which has never been done, ever. I used to have respect for Penn, but he seems to have lost his capacity for critical thinking.
Maybe he could have restricted travel in January or something. Oh right, the courts and bureaucrats stymied all those efforts.
And explain what anyone would have done differently to prevent those 100,000 deaths
He could have used wizard powers to turn America into an island nation and then placed draconian immigration restrictions on it.
Being an island nation with strict border controls or not having a lot of old/sick people who survive in your society seem to be the only things that have worked.
My sister was telling me last weekend that, when Australia shut itself off to overseas travel (except for carefully regulated nationals returning home), there was no national mask mandate put in place. The only time/place it was done was in Victoria when they had their “spike” (820 total deaths since virus hit there out of total population of 6.689 million [0.012%]).
And Trump’s bungling of COVID killed all those people in other countries, too.
Well he is the leader of the Free World after all.
the Free World
Just curious, what world would that be?
Weird, because I remember predictions that there would be 2 million deaths or more. Doesn’t that mean Trump actually saved well over a million people? That’s every bit as logical as the 100K number Penn pulled out of his ass.
Apparently he lost his brains along with all that fat.
High carb potato based diet. Can’t be good for the brain.
Why couldn’t he be the silent one of the duo?
*sigh*
I liked him so much better when he was a fatass.
He was a much nicer person then.
He was a much nicer person then.
The guy who is an atheist is asking the God he doesn’t believe in to damn someone to the Hell he also doesn’t believe in?
I missed the Cohen’s podcast part. That guy makes Saul Goodman look ethical and Lionel Hutz look competent.
The social stigma from the left regarding Trump is very very powerful. They literally cannot be friends with you if you don’t hate Trump as much as they do. 2016 broke them in ways that can’t be fixed. So the Cato/Reason crowd and their fellow travelers could either lose all of their friends or become reluctant (mostly) cheerleaders for team blue. And once you do that, it becomes very easy to convince yourself you’re doing it for principled reasons.
After all, there’s a mountain of things to dislike about Donald Trump, so how hard is it to simply focus on that while ignoring the equally large mountain of things to dislike about the people he’s running against.
My neighbor, where I board my horse, says of horses – they can’t really think about two things at once. So when they’re doing something you don’t want them to do, you have to make them think about something else. I think the same principle applies here – these folks can’t properly focus the hate if they try to think about someone they hate even just slightly less.
Thank God. Why would anyone want to be friends with such an exhausting pile of twats?
Spot on analysis.
OK, Penn isn’t a magician. He is a juggler, carney trash as he once put it. Teller, on the other hand, IS a magician.
Funny, but you don’t hear him blabber about this.
Apropos of Idaho: Idaho, Indiana of the northwest?
When you cross the Washington-Idaho border, it does not take long to notice how differently the two states are responding to the coronavirus pandemic.
A nationally published article is now shedding light on how Idaho’s relaxed virus regulations are leading to more cases in Washington.
ProPublica reporter David Armstrong found that Idaho’s lack of consistency is affecting eastern Washington.
The article reports, Washington is absorbing some of the costs, both human and economic, of Idaho’s laxed approach to the virus.
Wrong link.
Much like Indiana guns, somehow Idaho COVID has a bigger impact on neighboring states than itself.
ProPublica reporter David Armstrong found that Idaho’s lack of consistency is affecting eastern Washington.
Or perhaps could it be that western Washington (which was one of the earliest places for the virus to pop up IIRC) got it first and now it has spread out into the hinterlands (eastern Washington and Idaho)?
Benoit Bruel combined 254 cheeses to top a pizza cooked up in the city of Lyon, Guinness World Records said.
I’d like to try that pizza.
The song is good.
You wouldn’t be able to get that many different types of cheese on a slice of pizza. You can mix all those cheeses, but you aren’t actually getting them all on a slice of pizza.
16″ pizza cut in to 12 slices. each slice has 16.755 square inches of surface area, if the cheeses were cut into an 1/8″ dice, you could get 1072.32 cubes of cheese per slice in a single layer.
And each slice would only be half a metre thick!
Not that I’m saying that’s a *bad* thing, mind you . . .
It would probably have to be prepared in a … deep dish.
As if the French wouldn’t fuck up pizza anyway?
??? the cheese layer in my example would only be 1/8″ thick, If you want to load up on crust, toppings, and sauce, more power to you but don’t blame the excessive height on 254 types of cheeses.
When you cross the Washington-Idaho border, it does not take long to notice how differently the two states are responding to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ad-blocker-blocker won’t let me read it. I think Idaho should close their western border.
Also, if you’re going to claim that people are being disenfranchised shouldn’t you first need to prove that the ballots being disqualified belong to living legal voters who willingly cast them?
Stop it. You’re killing me.
Stop disenfranchising the deceased, vote algorithms, people that voted more than once and officials that ran the ballots more than once!
If Trump supporters wanted to have multiple votes they should have volunteered to count ballots, too.
First we were supposed to give up all of our guns despite Literally Hitler being President, now we’re supposed to believe that despite him being in power for 4 years and upending all our institutions and violating all our norms and wanting to become a dictator and having authoritarian tendencies and yadda yadda, our election processes are flawless examples of inhuman perfection untainted by corruption or incompetence.
“Washington State has a lot of limits on the ways in which people can gather and socialize and how businesses operate,” Armstrong told KREM 2. “And just over the border in Idaho, you have a much different situation where it’s very permissive in terms of what can occur. There are some statewide regulations, but it’s really dramatic, especially looking at from an outside perspective, the differences. Idaho schools opened and had a full range of sports activities and other school activities as if it was 2019. Washington was almost all remote learning, there’s no high school athletics, businesses are much different.”
I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out. What if people from Washington who are afeared of the getting the plague just remain in the bubblicious safety of their home state?
Washington State has a lot of limits
Oh, how nice of them. *goes about normal business*
(I live in VA and fully expect such limits from our illustrious governor. Just more things for me to ignore.)
Well. I don’t have anything to say to this.
That is impressive. I wonder how much her hair weighs, and how much work it is to maintain that much.
Hiya, SP!
How’s Wonder Dog enjoying the somewhat less insane temps?
She’s loving it. As are we. It’s now possible to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine on the porch before dinner!
What a concept!
Crazy talk!
Enjoy the newfound freedoms.
That afro’s nothing compared to the one sported by the future woman in Lovecraft Country.
“Don’t be evil”
You know what they say: “If you have to run around constantly telling people how not-evil you are… you’re probably evil.”
So that’s what I’m doing wrong.
But even worse is when you get a new CEO and basically the first thing he does is get rid of that motto.
It doesn’t matter much. They’ve redefined evil anyway.
I like her hair. It could use a trim, but for the most part, I think afros are underrated.
I like this a lot.
Very proud and strong, yes.
Ayup.
I always liked this chick’s sensible ‘fro.
Yes.
I really admire the women who choose to go natural. I’ve known two older women with natural ‘fros and they were both the kind of cheerful people who make you as joyous as they are. Gorgeous women, both of them.
I wouldn’t want to relax my hair; sounds painful.
No different than a perm, which is what is used to relax hair, too.
That said, I don’t bother to style my hair at all. Hello ponytail or ginormous clips. If I’m going somewhere “nice” (that’s relative) I’ll leave it down and throw a barrette up to keep the hair out of my face.

I’ve done it. “Dark and Lovely” from the hair-care aisle. I think I was dying it either black or blond in those days, too. Stupid kids.
Power to truth. Afros are an amazing look.
So Spud and I will, in the interests of public safety, practice leper lengthing, which is a relief because, well, he kinda smells funny.
Actual video of Spud and OMWC social distancing.
LOL adorbs.
Child laughter is so infectious in the good way.
That’s not an “orange soda” — that’s Lucozade, a dextrose-based drink that’s pretty much like mainlining glucose into your brain-stem. I’m surprised those kids aren’t stuck to the nearest vertical object. They’re giggling like that because they’re lit.
Remember how it seemed a tad fishy that Fulton county sent everyone home on election night claiming that a water pipe burst and then just continued counting ballots?
Remember how it turns out that no water pipe ever actually burst?
Remember how a worker went and wiped the Dominion machines in Fulton when investigators where trying to audit them before they a judge order could force them to be preserved?
Now, video has been released of the poll place in Fulton sending all observers and media home and then immediately pulling boxes of ballots out from under tables and counting them.
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/cctv-video-georgia-poll-workers-sparks-election-fraud-outrage
If the machines were wiped, then how did they do a recount?
“They want a recount”
“How many did we tell them last time? Just give them the same number.”
What I read — which is hilarious — is that a recount just involves feeding all the ballots back into the same machine.
That state is retarded.
The machine was wiped after the recount. Republican lawyers were attempting to actually look at the machines. They managed to get a judge order to give them 10 days, but a worker at that one county — Fulton State Farm Arena — managed to get in there ahead of time and wipe them all there.
Which is in itself suspicious. Why the urgent need?
JHTFC. This is the bathroom email server all over again.
Chances that nothing else happens: over 99%.
That was the same county as the water pipe? Yikes.
yes
Where the fuck was the GOP election observer who should have said, “I’ll wait and help you lock up?”
Being threatened off-camera with the broken water pipe?
Gillooly
But down-ballots
You mean the GA senate race? Yup, it was affected too.
I was being facetious…
Found this little nugget from election day:
So the 10:30 cutoff had already been announced ahead of time. They pretended to stop, and then pulled out a bunch of ballots from under a table.
Well see normally no one every questions us so…it is what it is and we will fix this for the 2022 mid-terms, pinky-swear
Huh. So Stacy Abrams can put together a competent fraud organization.
She got the blueprint from he soon to be new boss.

OFFS!!
The Chinese are even nice enough to give them free room and board with three hot meals per day. Just don’t try to leave.
They have to keep their organs healthy and hair growing.
Perhaps we should create a charity that will pay the immigration costs for anyone who genuinely thinks they would be better off in China? In the long run it has to be less expensive than allowing them to try to remake the US in China’s image.
I don’t think the Chinese would want a bunch of filthy baizuos:
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=baizuo
Even they can’t stand chose fuckers.
Sorry, but once they land in China they are no longer my concern. Our charity gets them there. It damn well doesn’t take them back if China won’t let them in. I’m sure the Chinese have some use for them, even if only as scrap.
Or please support my latest initiative #tanksfortankies which is a campaign to provide large vivaria into which tankies are sealed where they can live out their lives in an authentic gulag simulation without bothering the rest of us.
That’s… not the kind of tank I thought of at first.
Both China and Russia have mosques that appear on the list of the largest mosques in the world. No American mosques on the list.
The Muslims in Russia don’t get treated too badly I don’t think unless they’re unfortunate enough to live in Cossack areas. Definitely better than Christians in Saudi Arabia or Iran.
The only place I liked in Cairo, Al-Azhar Mosque, is on the list.
America doesn’t have an indigenous Muslim population either, they have to decide to cross an ocean to move here. If that were the case for Russia or China, they would probably have fewer Muslims deciding to immigrate there than to the US. Not defending US policy toward Muslims abroad at all.
“Burn it all down.”
I hate to day it, because I am not a fan of conspiracy theories, or the people who buy into them.
But.

Biden gets an audience with the world’s foremost authority
The nation’s top infectious diseases expert Anthony Fauci on Thursday said he is set to virtually meet with President-elect Joe Biden’s team later in the day.
“I’m going to be meeting with them today, by Zoom, by virtually. So today will be the first day where there will be substantive discussions about the transition between me and the Biden team,” Fauci told CBS News’s Major Garrett on The Takeout podcast. “I’m very pleased that today we’re having the first discussion about a number of things, vaccinations and things like that.”
Biden and Fauci have not spoken directly. The doctor, however, said he has had conversations with Biden’s incoming chief of staff Ron Klain, but added the conversations were not “substantive.”
Fauci told Garrett that he wished the presidential transition process had happened sooner.
“I would have liked to have seen us getting involved with the team as early as we possibly can because we want the smooth transition to occur,” he said. “Everyone believes that a smooth transition is certainly better than no transition.”
With Foohy’s stamp of approval, he can just go ahead and move his stuff into the White House.
I hate all our government. I try to operate within it as a good person but I absolutely hate it. I dont hate a lot of things.
If we can save just one life…
No teachers were injured.
Oh I won’t be surprised if local media or some asshat makes the claim that this is a positive because if this kid were forced into the Rona Death Camps he would have infected billions AND killed other kids with the gun.
Such brave
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany’s husband, Sean Gilmartin, appeared without a mask in the White House briefing room on Wednesday and declined to cover his face after being asked to do so by a journalist.
The interaction between Gilmartin and the White House press corps came after McEnany, who generally does not wear a mask at the briefing room podium, conducted a 24-minute news conference.
Photographer Doug Mills of The New York Times initiated the exchange when he “politely pointed out” to Gilmartin, a professional baseball pitcher, rules mandating that masks be worn in White House press areas.
Much precious
So from what I can tell no one died from the great Rona outbreak at the WH…the handful of governors all are fine…press that supposedly got it are fine…but fear the boogieman that lurks after 10pm, specifically in a bar or if you are standing in a restaurant, or with your family. However you are safe in Walmart or your local supermarket or DMV office.
Be especially concerned if you are on the surf or in the mountains…those places have high concentrations of vid particals waiting to pounce like a dark-alley 30s thug.
McEnany has refused to wear a mask while briefing reporters throughout the coronavirus pandemic, citing the distance between her and the press corps when she takes questions from the podium.
McEnany tested positive for Covid-19 in October, and was one of numerous administration officials to be infected across three separate White House outbreaks in recent months.
They should
thankpay her for sharing her antibodies with them.Wait. Isn’t she fucking immune?
Like that matters to them.
Diversitize, or else
Leaders from seven Black-led civil rights groups say they requested a meeting to discuss the need for more Black nominees to Biden’s Cabinet.
The groups included the National Action Network, NAACP, National Urban League, National Coalition of Black Civic Participation, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. The Washington Post first reported on their request for a meeting.
Rev. Al Sharpton, who leads the National Action Network, said Biden has not yet agreed to a date for the meeting. He would like to see Black leaders in positions such as US attorney general, secretary of education and secretary of labor.
“We are in an era of heightened alert in the areas of race and criminal justice,” Sharpton told CNN. “And anything that does not recognize that means that people who voted for him, feeling he would deal with this issue, will feel a sense of betrayal.”
Meet your quotas, Joe.
It feels like old times with Al thinking he’s in charge again.
I went to visit my parents and walk along on the deer hunt in AZ. I just jumped through the hoops and wagged my tail properly to be re-admitted without restriction to Hawaii. This is still a lovely state and the winters here are very good. If you want to visit us out here I am providing my fellow Glibs some tips:
If you are anticipating travel go ahead and establish and your Hawaii travel account ahead of time. Each adult needs their own account and you must upload a “recent” photo of yourself. (Mine was 7 years old and I’m wearing “southern sheriff reflective sunglasses.)
Once your travel is set you need to establish the parameters of that trip in your account. So far so good.
Now is where things get tricky.
No more than 72 hours before you return you must get one of the approved style of COVID tests from a “trusted Hawaii testing partner”. The list on
the website changes frequently. If you do not get a test from a trusted partner the test will not count and you will be quarantined. (On my flight the bride and groom to be didn’t use a correct partner and were being quarantined, the wedding party and parents used the correct testers and were free to gambol around the state. Awkward.) Note: the list does not include the VA or DoD. I saw a Coastie presenting a test from a Naval Hospital. I couldn’t tell his fate. I did read in the Honolulu paper before I left that another individual used the VA and was quarantined. BOTTOM LINE: Use a tester on the list or be prepared to quarantine. Quarantine must be in a resident’s house or a hotel. No vacation rentals are permitted. The state requires that each quarantine room be given a key card that will work only once. After that everything must be delivered.
Use the correct test. Antibody tests are not accepted and rapid tests go on and off the list. This creates the next obstacle. There is no guarantee that you will receive your tests back in time since the state requires -72 hours and companies promise 96 hour turn around. The 72 hour clock starts from your scheduled departure time from your last airport before arriving in Hawaii. For me that was LAX. I took my test at 71.5 hours before that departure time. The results arrived on my computer after I left AZ and before I arrived in LAX. I got lucky since the company promised a no more than 96 hour turn around.
Getting your appointment can be tricky. Some airlines and airports offer testing- others don’t. When I first tried to schedule my testing appointment I encountered challenges. The number of tests per day/ per site are limited. For example I tried CVS (from the approved list) and their on line system (required to use) only permits you to get an appointment for that day and the next day. I was finding it impossible to get an appointment anywhere in the metro-Phoenix area so I went to a nearby
location to try to get an appointment in person. That is when I discovered appointments were made online only (“safety” was the reason) and was advised to try right at midnight since appointments generally fill up before 0600hrs. Tucson did have a “walk in” location at noon, but be ready to get there by 0800hrs since they cut off the numbers. I was not keen on a ~250 mile round trip so I tried other “trusted partners” and heard much the same thing from each of them.
I did catch a break because the Phoenix Airport opened a trusted partner and I could make an appointment 3 days in advance. I jumped on that. The testing was no big deal. I answered some questions. I am not sure how my drinking, smoking and gun ownership status apply to a potential respiratory infection. Then I got my brain tickled through a nostril. Now the fun starts.
No more than 24 hours before you start your travel you must go back to your account with Hawaii and fill out a travel questionnaire. In return the State sends you a QR code. HAVE the code printed and or on your phone since your airline will not let you board your flight without it and it will be the first thing checked after you get off the plane.
Keep checking your email for your test results. Hopefully they arrive to you before you arrive at the checkpoint. You should receive two documents. One is the formal test results and the other is a State of Hawaii form with your name and results. Print both if possible. My results arrived after I was enroute so I saved the pdf files on my laptop. The state will not accept screenshots. When you receive your results also load them up on your established travel on your account. Loading the results is easy and is the same as loading any other pdf file to a website.
Arrival. The Hawaii Team (all in identical yellow aloha shirts) met our flight in the closed gate area. The first check is for your individual QR code. If the code “reads” correctly you get in a second line. (Those who had QR codes that were not recognized got shunted off to a second line. I did not see what happened to them but I swear I heard a train puffing away.) You will eventually get to the front of the line to get screened. The person will check your QR code again and pull up your profile and ask for your photo ID. I was then asked a couple of questions from my travel questionnaire and my photos were compared. Then I was asked for copies of my test results. I
replied I loaded them in the system approximately 9.5 hours ago and the yellow shirt stated “They are not here, but we only update the system every 12-14 hours.” I fired up my laptop and showed him the State form pdf. I was approved. The woman next to me (strangely the COVID can’t recognize 3 feet if you are in a COVID check zone) only had the actual test results. The yellow shirt had to call over a supervisory yellow shirt to look up the lab in a book to approve her test results because her form did not have “HAWAII TRUSTED TESTING PARTNER” in all CAPS. I was provided a tri-fold of the current rules for Hawaii as I walked out the door of the gate to ollect
my bags.
NOTE: Hawaii reserves the right to change any and all rules at any time. When I left for vacation if you had taken a test (from a trusted partner) and the results had not arrived to you before you arrived in Hawaii you were quarantined only until the results arrived. Last week it changed to no test on you- 14 day quarantine for all. Trusted test partners constantly evolve as does the acceptability of a rapid test result (anti-body tests are not acceptable). Yesterday while I was flying between LAX and Honolulu, Kauai changed their rules for arrivals and now everybody must quarantine 14 days no matter your test results.
The state has “shut down” twice now. As I went through this all I could think of was that this was an attempt to close all tourist traffic again without admitting that all tourist traffic was banned. On the plus side, everybody on the flight had a row to themselves unless they were a family. Now I think that the business community is wrong and it’ll take over a decade to get back to 2019 economic figures in the state. (Their estimate is 9 years.)
I hope to see you soon!
So if you just walk past all that bullshit, out the door of the airport and jump in a cab, what next?
This is ridiculous.
Boogaloo Kāne!
On a more positive note, was the deer hunt and the trip to AZ good?
I had an outstanding time! This might have been my last hunt with my dad (I hope not) and my brother. Plus I met some great folks from this community. Except for the ridiculous return procedures the trip was 10/10 , I would visit again.
It’s good that you had a good time.
I hunted alone this year, except for 2 weekends. It’s better than not hunting but not nearly as much fun as with others. The calendar has not been kind.
Thanks for the Hawaii info, guess I’ll be carrying in wood all winter, too many hoops to jump through.
TL;DR.
Shorter: Hawaii’s fucked.
I’ve got a buddy who’s gone there every year since the mid-80s, renting and spending like a drunken sailor. He’s sworn to me “never again.” I’m gonna take him and his squeeze to France and Spain first chance I get.
Hope your state likes massive social disruption and stupid levels of unemployment, dbleagle.
Agreed on Spain and France being higher on the go-to list than HI.
Ok then. The kids have been asking to go back to Hawaii. Looks like that won’t be happening for a couple more years. México it is next summer.
I wouldn’t write off Hawaii, yet. Once the pre-Harris administration is in place then then the Kung Flu should quickly stop being a thing. The hotels will probably be offering great deals just to try and fill rooms. Same with the surviving, or new, tourist outlets. You might be able to score some good deals.
I have strong doubts that this new power will be voluntarily relinquished by Biden or Harris. It may have started out being about tanking the economy to hurt Trump, but it’s clear they are enjoying the new police state powers in CA, NY, and what you just described in Hawaii.
I really really hope you’re right DB but I fear that SSD is closer to the mark. I despair that we will never be allowed to go back to normal. They like their power too much and will make up new excuses (climate emergency!) to keep them.
Yeah, I think that’s too optimistic. The best we’ll ever get is a temporary move to ‘green’ level, with strong admonishments that the governor will send us back to our rooms the minute they disapprove of our behavior. They’ve been getting away with it up to now, why the hell would they ever ever stop?
Why would they give it up?
Some have even scoffed at the high courts of their states and even the nation and continue their paths. State legislatures are effectively non-existent and majority of the people are okay with it.
So some small rabble-rousers are in front of the capitol? Pssh, who cares, send out the media to dig up their white supremacy backgrounds.
Similar to going to Alaska. AK accepts any CDC accepted lab. I used a mail in service to do my CCCPV testing prior to my trip to AK. I had already uploaded my test results to my AK travel account.
I hope to see you soon!
Haha, good one.
Well, for some values of “soon,” it could happen.
The Afro chick has been scientifically determined to have been made up of 50% sexy chick and 50% evil face.
Yeah I’d love to visit y’all in Hawaii but it turns out spending my adult life building a career in the live event industry wasn’t a great idea cuz the government can just decree that the entire thing doesn’t exist anymore.
I’m really sorry man. That fucking blows. What makes me irate is that aside from this group here and the odd person I meet that gets what is happening, there seems to be little to no pushback against the greatest encroachment of government in our lives that has ever happened in this country. We are in week 37 now of “2 weeks to slow the spread” and I really don’t see a return to normal. Even thought a vaccine is just around the corner I don’t believe that will do it either. It’s extremely disheartening.
The vaxx won’t do it, they already battle space prepped that with “you will still have to…after the vaccine”.
I honestly have trouble understanding how other people (always unaffected by the lockdowns) lack both the empathy and the sense to see that the governors aren’t doing any of this to keep us safe, they’re dickslapping us with their power-boners, and actively hurting their constituents. It’s fucking sadism, what Newsom, Whitmer, Cuomo, Wolf, and the whole League of Evil Mutants are doing to us.
Yup it is absolutely clear that’s what’s happening and people are still happily bowing down to it. Of all my friends and family (save my wife and little kids) I am by far the most cognizant of this. Most of my friends are not really buying the hype, but playing along thinking it’ll all be over soon. It won’t. I’d love to be wrong about this more than anything, but I don’t think I will be.
The company I work for is full up of leftists – all of whom work remotely anyway – and every lockdown order or closure or additional restriction is treated like wisdom from on high delivered to naughty children who just won’t take care of themselves if mom and dad don’t force them to do it. I’ve had to withdraw from most company socializing, simply because I got tired of being treated like I was insane for wanting other people to be able to keep working, and I can’t seem to keep my mouth shut about it.
We personally haven’t been affected too much by the BS, inconvenienced yes but that’s about it. What has been a problem is not seeing any friends, meeting at a restaurant, stopping for coffee, etc. A lot of old people are terrified. It really has been an eye opener.
Biden had the hot potato dropped in his lap, the vaccine is a laugh, the power struggles by the impotent pols is an ignorant display of ineptitude.
There is no pony. The tragedy is that the “What ifs” will take credit but not responsibility. MN gov is on that list too, he has an excuse, he’s plainly stupid.
I was working from home long before this, so outside of the loss of in person schooling for my children, and the ability to see full faces, or go anywhere without a face panty on, I haven’t been affected either. The tragedy is that I know how insanely unjust and wrong all of this is, but I can’t seem to work up the guts to take matters into my own hands; fear for your children is a powerful deterrent. I constantly wish that people would learn to treat this shit like a flu pandemic and move on.
We personally haven’t been affected too much by the BS, inconvenienced yes but that’s about it.
Ditto. Work from home is a blessing for me. I’m an introvert, so I’m not missing too much. Besides the indignity of the masks and the temporary pay cut, the biggest negative has been the complete inability to make friends after moving across the country. We’re close enough to family that it’s not a big deal, though.
Appeal to wishful thinking
President-elect Joe Biden told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Thursday that he will ask Americans to wear masks for his first 100 days after he takes office, in a sign of how Biden’s approach to the virus will be dramatically different to President Donald Trump’s response.
“Just 100 days to mask, not forever. 100 days. And I think we’ll see a significant reduction,” Biden told Tapper during his first joint interview with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris since winning the election. The full interview will air at 9 p.m. ET.
Biden said that where he has authority, like in federal buildings or in interstate transportation on airplanes and buses, he will issue a standing order that masks must be worn. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that wearing a mask can help protect the both the person wearing the mask and those around them from transmitting the virus.
And- if that doesn’t show the virus who’s boss, we’ll just wear them for another 100 days. Embrace the new normal. Ballgag Joe has your back, now.
There is a new day dawning. Competence is coming.
LOL!
Well, as long as it isn’t just 14-days.
Ballgag Joe is better than any nickname Trump has come up with. Change my mind.
We have had a mask mandate here in SF since April. For the last few months I’d say 95% of people outside, yes outside just walking around even at night with no one around, are wearing fucking masks. I am the among the last holdouts (outside as I’m not getting allowed in anywhere inside a biz without one). Fuck that geriatric fuckhead.
In Texas (DFW area) people have been masking in indoors communal settings at about a 90% rate for about the same amount of time. Yeah, mask use outside is a much lower rate (I don’t use one outside, and I’d estimate only 10% of the people walking around outside in my apartment complex have one on), but if 100 days of masks did anything it would have already done it.
It was the wrong 100 days under the wrong leadership.
C’mon, man, we’re all in this together.
100 days may not sound like much but for me and Ol’ Joe it could be a lifetime.
I’m just saying “no”, cold turkey, like quitting smoking but this is a lot easier.
Straws are accumulative.
Biden described his coronavirus plans as a balance between ensuring that Americans believe the vaccine is safe and instituting a number of plans that will curb the spread of the virus without shutting down the economy.
We’ll… you know.. do that “best practices” thing. It’s a slam dunk.
Tucker on Lil Rona.
More doom for theaters.

“Nope!”
Not dead. Xe just transitioned.
(About what I expect from the Wachowski loons)

And millions of lives have been saved. MILLIONS, I tell you. Without those masks, there wouldn’t be enough people left alive in San Francisco for a decent bridge tournament.
At least libertarians have been proven right about the nature of humanity.
Isn’t that bridge built yet?

I’m thinking about buying more of them. Steel-cored, absurdly strong velcro. I’m thinking about buying more of them, except I haven’t worn out my all-nylon Chinese knockoff (which was more expensive) yet.
