    Can anyone confirm what violence has actually occured? From what I’ve seen it literally looks “mostly peaceful”. The only violence I have seen is one woman being wheeled off with blood gushing from her neck and a few people tearing down an entrance to the Capitol, but that’s it. Based on the media reports you’d think Trump supporters were running around killing babies and puppies.

        My point being that the normalization of political violence on the left over the past few years was bound to bring about a reactionary response. Trump may think it’s all about him, but it’s a far greater issue that’s been simmering for a long time now and brought to a boil by riots, looting, lockdowns, fraudulent investigations, election shenanigans, and the complete collapse of an even remotely objective media and tech industry. So far, this backlash is rather tame by historical standards. You’ll know it’s really serious when they start decorating the lampposts in DC.

        None of this is to say that I approve of what they’re doing in DC right now, but I do understand why it’s happening and find less fault with it than I did with what happened in Portland, Richmond, or Center City Philadelphia this past summer.

I am not willing to lay the blame on Trump for somehow “duping” them. I don’t even know who they are, or where they came from. I don’t know what their original stated goal was. But it looks like they’re mad as hell and they don’t want to take it anymore.

      When a group of people have had every organ of government aligned against them and a group of people that are actively looking to continue and expand the state’s power to further stamp you down are coming into power, this is what you get (not that the Neocons are any better in practice, they just have the good grace to not say the quiet part out loud). If I am to take these people at their word, they wish to, at minimum , find people who have the wrong opinions and excise them from society. I have little faith that the Courts will save us, they are so moribund with bad case law it would take them decades to get back to something that even even loosely resembles the Constitution, the Legislature has been abdicating its responsibility to the Executive since at least the 1940’s and the Executive is about to be run by an addle-brained geriatric and a failed-to-the-very-top woman that has not demonstrated any competence and oft has shown open malice for her constituents. Add in an election were the powers that were responsible for ensuring, at least, that the elections were _perceived_ as legitimate completely and utterly failed and you have a recipe for what happened at the Capitol.

      I don’t know what happens now.

      I don’t think whatever pops out the other side of whatever this is, is going to be that much better, but here we are.

    I’m a market watcher, I spent as much time watching Fox Biz as Fox News today.

    Market had a helluva day (for better or worse). Anyway, airlines, hospitality, hotels were all winners, starting early this morning. Tech not so good. While I don’t understand what all that means my perceptions are that the market believes travel and recreation are going to improve. Those things can only improve as restrictions are reduced.

    How that matches what we may believe is in store for us with a Demo regime I don’t know. Why the restrictions would be reduced can be anyone’s guess. Politics? Conquering the virus ( made me laugh typing that) ? Or are they one and the same?

    Some think there will be a lot of stimulus, some think the debt will destroy us. Some (me) believe both and are inseparable. What the Stock Market believe, I have no clue.

    The U.S. population is now more than 330 million people. and globally, it’s nearly 7.8 billion. Researchers point to immigration as an easy way to protect size of the U.S. population.

    “The most popular place for people to immigrate in the world is still the U.S.,” said Ipsos Public Affairs CEO Darrell Bricker. “It’s still that shining city on a hill.”

I said, well, I followed a few onsite live streams (source material) and I spent some time at CNN, actually, to see what they were saying.     I spent the last year building the most amazing PC gaming machine of all time.

    I waited patiently for the new Nvidia Geforce 3090 to come out in October and then bought one.

    Then I waited patiently for the new generation of AMD Ryzen 9 processors and bought one in Deccember.

    And finally assembled the world’s greatest gaming machine.

    It has sat there ever since and I have not played a single game.

    Apparently I just needed a project.

    But, you know, if I do feel like playing a game you can bet your sweet ass it will be amazing. I’m thinking Tetris. With ray tracing.

      Woman who i work with has been a manager for decades. Old, take no shit, kind of broad. Terror to young kids, but she rocks. Two days ago a cashier said a customer dropped the N bomb and she wanted to go home. Manager told her to take some time, but she needed to finish the shift. Cashier’s mother comes in and creates an impromptu struggle session over race.

      Manager is now gone. Everyone gets very quiet if someone asks about her.

    App idea: why do I recognize this actor? It’s IMDB except itsculpted to your age range and media exposure. How does it know that? Because you teach it to, because you answer similar questions from other people, like a trivia game, a consensus builder. It’d have to evolve over time to keep engagement up, but eventually there’d be enough engagement that just knowing your age and nationality and race and maybe gender assigned at birthe you’d get an accurate answer to whatever annnnnnnnnnd it’s been coopted by Google to track your media habits.
