Wednesday Afternoon SugarLinks – [inchoate screaming]

I often worry that I just don’t have enough “Oh, fuck off.” I mean, I can say “Oh, fuck off,” or even a strong “OH, FUCK OFF!” or the orbital strike of “OH, FUCK OFF!” but is it really enough for this level of bullshit? Three fucking masks? Admitting that the one mask forced on us isn’t enough, and neither is the extremely retarded-looking double mask?

OH, FUCK OFF.

Heads on pikes. Rivers of blood. A Game of Thrones prequel series. Fuck these idiots.

‘Inspired Choice’: Biden Appoints Sociologist Alondra Nelson to Top Science Post

During his presidential campaign, Joe Biden pledged that his administration would address inequality and racism. Now that he’s been sworn in as US president, his appointment of a prominent sociologist to the nation’s top science office is raising hopes that the changes will extend to the scientific community.

Alondra Nelson, who has studied the societal impacts of emerging technology, as well as racism in science and medicine, will help lead the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) as deputy director for science and society, Biden announced on January 15. She has spoken and written about divisive and controversial subjects in bioethics, such as gene editing and direct-to-consumer genetic tests.

Scholars say her inclusion on Biden’s science team emphasizes the importance of science’s effect on society, and vice versa.

I FUCKING LOVE SOFT SCIENCE!

Proud Boys leader was ‘prolific’ informer for law enforcement

Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys extremist group, has a past as an informer for federal and local law enforcement, repeatedly working undercover for investigators after he was arrested in 2012, according to a former prosecutor and a transcript of a 2014 federal court proceeding obtained by Reuters.

In the Miami hearing, a federal prosecutor, a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and Tarrio’s own lawyer described his undercover work and said he had helped authorities prosecute more than a dozen people in various cases involving drugs, gambling and human smuggling.

Tarrio, in an interview with Reuters Tuesday, denied working undercover or cooperating in cases against others. “I don’t know any of this,” he said, when asked about the transcript. “I don’t recall any of this.”

Law-enforcement officials and the court transcript contradict Tarrio’s denial. In a statement to Reuters, the former federal prosecutor in Tarrio’s case, Vanessa Singh Johannes, confirmed that “he cooperated with local and federal law enforcement, to aid in the prosecution of those running other, separate criminal enterprises, ranging from running marijuana grow houses in Miami to operating pharmaceutical fraud schemes.”

      People aren’t Society.

It’s like you don’t even SCIENCE! brah.

When cisheteropatriarchcial capitalists use technology to justify their rancid exitence by “improving” the lives of individual people, they are obscuring the damage done to Society by shifting the focus away from systemic oppression of intersectional identity groups. Only by understanding that it is the good of Society that is important can we achieve true equity and justice.

      No, no, no.

Before all this new communication technology was recklessly foisted onto the public, the rubes were pretty happy. They were easily able to digest the news from one of the three big networks with ease.

Now the message from the MSM can barely be choked down because all these bad people are out there writing things that are different. It is making their guts and their brains hurt.

Once our benevolent sociologists eliminate those troubling sources of doubt and apprehension, things will go back to being good again. No! They are going to Build Back Better and only have One approved network news program. You won’t even have to worry about choosing one of three identical programs to watch.

      • Suthenboy

That program being Big Brother’s face in 90% of the screen and repeating over and over “Freedom is Slavery, War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength. You must obey”

When i saw the 2 and 3 mask thing… I realized that this is all a big game to them. They want to see what level of stupidity they can get americans to go along with, and are running out of ideas.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

It’s a head game to get people to wear one mask. “Screw these dumbasses, I’m only going to wear one. That’ll show ‘em.”

    • Certified Public Asshat

We haven’t had a viral video recently of people yelling at non-maskers. Single maskers will now be shamed.

    • Deplorableme

If three masks are 90%, how about just go right to a plastic bag sealed over your head. 100% effective!

      • WTF

I want to know the source of that 90% claim. Is it 90% of virus-sized particles? Based on what scientifically valid studies? Or is just pulled out of their ass like the models they use?

      • Fatty Bolger

The 90% claim is 100% bullshit.

      • R C Dean

Is it 90% on the inhale, or the exhale?

Because I would bet mask efficiency is less on the exhale. And that’s supposed to be what matters, right? “My mask protects you and your mask protects me”, right?

How Trumpism explains the GameStop stock surge

The point is that there is no real point beyond showing up the pros — proving to them that they aren’t as smart as they think they are and that they don’t have the ability to control everything.

Which, again, has its roots in Trumpism. The entire notion of Trump’s candidacy and presidency was to stick it to the elites. And then, well, uh, there wasn’t really a plan beyond that. The screwjob was the point. (Montreal screwjob reference!)

That strategy — if that is even a word that can be associated with what this is — has massive limits. Sticking it to the man will only get you so far. It’s not a solution to any problem. It’s just a way to express frustration, anger and a feeling of helplessness.

Think of it this way: Giving someone the finger might make you feel good in the moment. But it doesn’t solve anything.

In addition to the 22MM he was already up. On a 53k investment in calls in Sept 2019.

      • robc

Calculation method: He has 50000 shares and 800 Apr21 @$12 calls.

      • robc

Just saw the daily update, he sold 300 calls today.

        Current position:
        50000 shares = $17.4MM
        300 calls = $16.8MM
        Cash $13.8MM

      • robc

Correction, the first 300 is correct, the position is 500 calls.

      • R C Dean

I read some of the major brokers, including TD Ameritrade, are now banning their clients from buying GameStop shares.

      • Semi-Spartan Dad

Hmm, maybe “preventing” is a better word. Just so much banning go around with companies these days.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

ZeroHedge has a couple of articles about on it. It sounds like the Reddit group is gaming an investment fund that was looking to game regular stockholders. Good for them I say.

      • R C Dean

As near as I can tell, this was pretty much spontaneous, which means its not market manipulation under any sane definition. How the SEC is going to outlaw small investors spontaneously piling into a given security will be interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised if they “inadvertantly” outlaw Motley Fool and similar.

The thing is, the hedge funds, high-speed traders, etc. need the small retail investors. They make a lot of their money off of them, and not off of each other.

      • robc

Manipulating by buying a series of calls in Sept 2019. Yeah, that is manipulation.

    DAMMIT

  22. KromulentKristen

I could use some professional advice…

I am selling my home & my plan is to strike out in an RV for a few years. I would like to retain my job and work permanently offsite.

We have been WFH for almost a year. I predict we won’t go back to the office until at least late 2021, possibly 2022. That will be two full years of telework. I have one colleague that does the same work as I do who lives in Ohio, and he’s been doing that for, like, 5 years.

So I plan to approach my government bosses about my making my telework situation permanent, AND not having a fixed residence (although I will have a fixed address to pay my taxes, etc.). In a little over a year, I will be homeless (but flush with caaaaaaaassshhh!). I would like to have my living situation worked out by early 2022. So, less than a year. My work situation will directly impact my living situation, so I need to get the ball rolling with the bosses in the next few months.

The agency I work for has also been pretty squishy-soft on mental health & shit during the ‘Vid times and the Capitol Hill “trauma”, so they’re not like a traditional company that wants butts in the seats no matter what. I have quite a bit of room here, is what I’m saying.

How do I approach this with my bosses? Keep in mind that we only communicate via email, Slack, and video conferencing (my dad said I should “casually mention it at that water cooler”, and I said “what water cooler?”). My contract company will be the ones to ultimately work this out, but my government bosses pretty much have all the say. My company will do what the government tells them to do. So I need to work this out with them first.

    • R C Dean

From their end, I’m thinking the only real issue is “permanent WFH”, possibly with a side issue of “available to show up in meatspace”. If you get a “yes” on the former and a “not necessary” on the latter, then I don’t see why they would care where you live or what you live in.

Don’t ask for too much, I guess. Ask for what you need them to approve, and no more. I’d probably work “looking to relocate” in to an early conversation, to set up the “not necessary to show in meatspace”. I see no need to lay out your whole plan to go digital nomad, though. Once you get the answers you need on those two issues, you might go a little further on where your home base/fixed address is going to be (I’d set it up so that asking you to show up requires real travel), and see how that goes. Once everybody has settled in to you not being around and not planning to be around, maybe let them know, as an aside but not asking permission, that you’re thinking about the nomad thing.

      • KromulentKristen

I would need to show myself in meatspace approximately once a year to get re-badged. My Ohio colleague does the same.

I’d be a little anxious springing the nomad stuff on them late in the process. But I agree that maybe an initial discussion on what’s possible from their end could be beneficial.

      • R C Dean

Why would they care where, or in what, you lived, as long as you were doing your job?

The thing about bureaucrats is, they look for reasons to say “no”. I’m thinking you set this up so that they have said “yes” to everything that should matter to them, so that if they get cold feet because you want to go nomad and they can’t wrap their conformist bureaucratic brains around it, its basically too late, as they have already said “yes” and don’t have a good reason to reverse course at that point.

I make my living manipulating bureaucrats (as do you, I suspect), and this would be my approach. Basically, three stages:

        (1) Permanent WFH, show up once a year to get rebadged. If yes, then:

        (2) Planning to relocate to new home base/fixed address. If no problem, then:

        (3) I’ll be spending time travelling, but I’ve got a setup that lets me do all my work, you’ll never even know. At that point, if they have the concerns Dad has outlined, you’re pretty far down the line and can deal with them more easily.

If you open with “I wanna be a digital nomad living out of an RV, that cool with you?”, its just too easy for them to say “no”.

      • KromulentKristen

The thing about bureaucrats is, they look for reasons to say “no”. I’m thinking you set this up so that they have said “yes” to everything that should matter to them, so that if they get cold feet because you want to go nomad and they can’t wrap their conformist bureaucratic brains around it, its basically too late, as they have already said “yes” and don’t have a good reason to reverse course at that point.

This makes sense…bare bones. Get the basics covered.

I suspect I will not be the only person asking for this, although my two other colleagues (besides the one that lives in OH) are tied to the DC area by family, so they won’t be asking. But if there’s going to be a thundering herd of WFH requests, I want in on the ground floor.

    • Jerms

Show them video of you doing shots of hollandaise sauce and youll have them eating out of your hand.

    • Semi-Spartan Dad

So I plan to approach my government bosses about my making my telework situation permanent, AND not having a fixed residence (although I will have a fixed address to pay my taxes, etc.).

I would never tell them that you plan on not having a fixed residence. Logistically, you only care about making your telework situation permanent and explain that you will be moving out of commuting distance.

I would have concerns if someone on my team planned on working while driving around in an RV. Will they have stable internet and enough bandwidth for video conferencing? Will they have good cell service at all times during business hours? Will they be able to guarantee silence at any time during the day for client calls, which can happen without notice? These may not apply to you though.

      • KromulentKristen

I have answers for those connectivity questions 🙂

    • KromulentKristen

So it seems like the best course of action would be to

      1) Work out permanent offsite work with my bosses in a general sense, but don’t talk about the lifestyle change

      2) If my bosses are agreeable to permanent WFH, I’ll need to make sure my contract doesn’t tie me to a specific location. If I’m not tied contractually to a location, then there’s no need to even mention the RV life as long as I’m fulfilling m obligations.

      • R C Dean

Works for me. My step 3 above is if you feel like you need to inform them more specifically.

      • Annoyed Nomad

Kristen, Will we see you on one of those “tiny home” shows?

      • KromulentKristen

Naaaa…those things aren’t really that portable. I want to be mobile. I’ll likely get a small 5th wheel or a motorhome with a towed car

      • Annoyed Nomad

I asked that tongue-in-cheek. My wife likes to watch those shows and I can’t help making comments.

“Yes, it’s a bit cramped because IT’S A TINY HOME!”
“There actually is a long-existing industry for that. They’re called RVs and motorhomes.”

Frankly I think it’s mostly hipsters trying to “do something special” with their “environmentally-friendly construction” bullshit.

      • KromulentKristen

Yeah – I like the idea of a cozy space, but those tiny houses are the worst of both worlds. If you’re gonna go small, you should at least be mobile! (that is not a euphemism…I don’t think)

      • Animal

I think it’s more accurately “They’re actors, hired to make a bullshit “reality” show, and none of it is real. They don’t live in those stupid little things.”

Sure, some hipster assholes probably do, but I’d bet those shows are all bullshit.

Yeah the most environmentally friendly thing lifestyle is probably

        1. Live in a house that’s already built. Do whatever you can do make it passively regulating and low energy consumption. Insulate, use shade trees in the summer and sunny windows in the winter, use LED bulbs, etc.

        2. Live in a walkable neighborhood within a couple miles of work, school, shopping, entertainment. Actually use the walkable neighborhood.

        3. Plant a big garden. Cut your meat consumption down. Buy from local sources whenever possible.

        4. Own only the cars you need, used ones that gets good gas mileage. Try to make one or two trips a month to bulk buy necessities. Make Amazon orders once a week instead of daily.

        5. Be anti-consumerist. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Buy used clothes, toys, etc. Buy quality items and make them last. Use it Up, Wear it Out, Make it Do, or Do Without.

I agree with your dad. Your daily communication strategy would not be impacted at all, whether you are on the move in a trailer or in a house. I am thinking about doing the same thing, and I know a ton of other people who also wish the freedom of the open road. Just do it, make sure every place you set up has good internet accessibility.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

Late to the discussion (as usual) but I’d like to point out an issue that we ran into leaving home for just a couple of months. We had three shopping bags of mail that was held during that time. Granted, about 80% of it was junk mail but there were some items in there that had to be taken care of such as medical bills from my mother-in-law, refund checks, and other items. Of particular interest was a Certified Letter that needed my signature. Since I wasn’t there to sign for it, it was returned. I have no idea who it was from; could have been the IRS, could have been a lawyer letting me know of an inheritance. That kind of bothered me.

We had plans of touring the country in our RV (hope to resume when the panicdemic has calmed) but this points out that we have to stop by our mailbox at least every other month.

I know that people leave home for long periods and I would be interested in knowing how they deal with this.

I am not removing the stick I had surgically implanted so someone can look for a bit of a cough I don’t have.

  29. R C Dean

    Update from the front lines:

COVID patient volume continues to decline and we are converting units away from ICUs and back to regular units, and ramping up surgeries. Staff vaccination got to 70% and is pretty much holding there.

We had to postpone/cancel a fair number of urgent surgeries (cardiac, etc.) in the last few months because we simply didn’t have beds. This wasn’t a government lockdown order, it was just so many COVID patients that we ran out of beds. We are seeing deaths from these delayed surgeries. I found out that when the Gov. (Idiot-AZ) banned elective surgeries in the spring, which technically include urgent surgeries that aren’t emergencies, we basically ignored him for urgent surgeries as long as we had beds, so we didn’t see this during the first wave.

I asked how many flu patients we have seen this year. The answer was “None, because nobody is testing for flu.” If you are wondering where the flu has gone, that’s where. The flu hasn’t been knocked down by masking, etc. (which never made sense, because why would one infectious disease be knocked down by masking, etc., while another one was ramping up to its all-time peak). Its not showing up in any kind of reporting because nobody is looking for it. If we stopped testing for COVID, it would “disappear” just like the flu has “disappeared”.

    • KromulentKristen

      Interesting info – thanks!

    • mrfamous

Also, unlike COVID, there actually has been significant studies done on the effectiveness of masks versus influenza like illness and they have not faired very well, particularly the cloth ones.

That, of course, will not matter. I hold to my prediction that much of this country, and most of the biggest retailers, will require masks in indoor public spaces for well more than a decade. That’s how these things go.

Move along, nothing to see here.

When people are denied public records they routinely reach out to us for assistance and more often than not, we are able to request the same records and we get them. When this happens it is an indicator of a problem because if we are able to get those records, so too should others.

The DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek and her Chief Deputy Scott Mackay signed a contract with Dominion Voting Systems Inc. on January 24, 2020. After a copy of that contract was requested by an individual and denied, we were asked to assist in getting the same records. Our Freedom of Information Act request was granted and we find the Dominion Voting Systems encouragements to avoid transparency very troubling.

As threats continue to mount against members of Congress, concern is growing about the safety of some lawmakers when they travel outside Washington and the security bubble it provides, multiple sources told CNN.
Intelligence based on social media chatter and other information, which increased after the January 6 insurrection, indicates a heightened threat for members of Congress in their home states, a law enforcement official said.

Lawmakers in both parties have been reluctant to share details about specific threats they have received in the weeks since pro-Donald Trump rioters breached the US Capitol and 10 House Republicans voted in favor of impeaching Trump for inciting the insurrection.

    ——-

Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security warned about potential violence from extremists who object to the presidential transition, hold anti-government views or are motivated by false narratives.

Meanwhile, criminal complaints against some of the individuals who participated in the January 6 storming of the US Capitol have validated concerns about the safety of members and their families when they travel back to their home districts.

In “Too Local News”, I attended the Zoom public hearing for NH House Bill 63.

This bill would have the state refund all fines collected for violations of the Governor’s State of Emergency, restore any revoked licenses, and expunge any records.

Here is a summary of my notes from the hearing. I think a full-blown article would bore you all to death. Even this might be a bit on the long side.

I found out at the hearing that there is an amendment to the bill which changes the bill’s effective date and removes the provisions requiring an immediate end to enforcement of the emergency orders. The bill, as amended, will not take effect until the state of emergency ends.

The Zoom meeting was a bit of a shit-show of technical problems and poor connections.

Based on the questions for the prime sponsor, the Democrats on the committee are opposed to the bill.

Most of the people speaking during the public comment part of the hearing were in favor of the bill. Very few business owners spoke. One legislator said she had asked many business owners to testify, but they refused for fear of retaliation from the Governor and/or the State AG’s office. I know the legislator and I doubt she is making that up.

Only one person spoke during the public comment period against the bill. This person is a state representative whose district covers Durham and another town whose name I did not catch. I’d say about half the time he spoke he complained about how the governor spent money. He said that Covid is “a calamity that has killed more Americans than the Civil War”. Apparently he forgot about the Spanish Flu. He also thinks masks are not controversial because everywhere he goes he sees everyone wearing masks.

One of the people that spoke in favor of the bill also used the opportunity to rant about Zoom meetings for legislative business. She thinks it is a way to silence opposition. I find myself agreeing with her.

The committee vote for the NH legislature is a recommendation or a referral back to committee. The recommendation can be “Ought to pass”, “Ought to pass with amendment”, or “Inexpedient to legislate”. Generally, “inexpedient to legislate” kills a bill. “Ought to pass” doesn’t mean the bill will pass when it comes up for a vote before the House or Senate. Based on what I see on the legislative calendar, the committee vote has to take place before Feb. 18th, 2021.

    • DEG

I just received some good news.

The committee passed HB 63 with a recommendation of “Ought to pass”. The legislature’s staff have not yet updated the bill status web page. At some point in the future, the bill will come up for a vote before the full House.

    • DEG

      That’s pretty cool.

Also, unlike COVID, there actually has been significant studies done on the effectiveness of masks versus influenza like illness and they have not faired very well, particularly the cloth ones.

Well, I’m glad our national scientific policy is being set by a real scientist. At least they didn’t put an urban geographer in charge.

Of course, if you got Minnesoda’s urban geographer to run things, he could also head up the diversity and inclusion office too. Save some money.

Then we’d be free from the hidden scourge of white supracist skyway systems.

Urban geographer and writer Bill Lindeke gives architectural skyway tours in the Twin Cities. He says the visitors on his tours are justifiably impressed. The whole skyway system comes across as a grand civic achievement. The can seem futuristic, triumphant, almost utopian — cozy micro-city within the city, where Twin Citizens can look down at the icy street beneath you, smug in your short-sleeves, and collectively laugh in the face of winter. Yet Lindeke actually hates skyways and he isn’t alone — a lot of residents and urban planners want them gone. For critics, skyways are problematic because of who gets to enjoy them and who does not as well as their impact on street activity below.

You will have to puzzle through that story yourself because I don’t have the education to follow along as to why whitey needs to walk outside in subzero weather instead of using a skyway.

      • Pope Jimbo

Well to be fair, St. Paul did have one very egregious incident where a black guy was tased and beaten for being uppity in the skyway.

As bad as cops beating a man for “not cooperating” with them when they hassled him for no reason, the worst part of the situation was that there wasn’t a peep out of BLM or any other black civil rights organization. A decent citizen was beaten and tazed while waiting for his daughter to get out of daycare and nothing is said.

Less than a year later repeat felon Jamar Clark gets shot while scuffling with police and the city erupts. The reason the cops were there is because Clark was hassling the ambulance crew where were there to treat his girlfriend for the beating Clark had given her earlier. He was trying to stop them from taking her to the hospital until he could convince her not to say anything to the cops and have his parole violated.

So BLM goes to the mattresses over a complete shit stain for an incident that had nothing to do with racism, but won’t make a peep about a very racially motivated beating of a solid citizen.

      • Not Adahn

It really is. Scott Alexander did an essay on it. Only by pushing the extreme cases can you be sure that the people supporting you are really supporting you.

Nobody righteous would want to agree with a nazi.

      • Count Potato

It’s more of a case that non-controversial cases don’t generate controversy. If everyone agrees then it gets no publicity, no clicks, no ratings, no opportunities for finger pointing.

      • Not Adahn

While that would explain media coverage, it doesn’t explain why cases everyone could agree on don’t go viral on social media or generate the haterage that the… questionable cases do.

      • Count Potato

Cases everyone could agree on don’t go viral on social media because everyone quietly agrees. There are no hate clicks, no attacking the other side, no flaming in the comments, etc.

      • Suthenboy

Are there any whites left in Minneapolis?

Here the major cities have maybe…maybe 10% of the white population they used to have.

A friend of mine used to have a 4000 sq foot antebellum home in Alexandria sitting on 1/4 of a city block with a 8 foot brick wall around the property. He spent half a mil renovating it.
Pedestrians would regularly lob trash over the wall or throw rocks and bricks at the house. He finally tired of the maliciousness, sold and moved out in the country.

      • Pope Jimbo

        Hmmmmm……

Would you be willing to look up the percentage of non-white residents in the Twin Cities by zip code?

Because our covid map lists that information out for you. If you drill down on that map you can see how many new cases, total cases and the population in a particular zip code. And of course it also tells your the % of non-whites living there. Why? Who knows.

Maybe if there is an outbreak you want to be sure the Karens don’t go crazy blaming the mouth breathing deniers for not following the SCIENCE only to find out that most of them are BIPOC?

Feds Arrest Twitter Troll Ricky Vaughn For Posting LOL Memes, Biden Administration Claims Subversive Election Interference Via Twitter

DOJ – […] Mackey allegedly tweeted an image that featured an African American woman standing in front of an “African Americans for [Hillary]” sign. The image included the following text: “Avoid the Line. Vote from Home. Text ‘[Hillary]’ to 59925[.] Vote for [Hillary] and be a part of history.” The fine print at the bottom of the image stated: “Must be 18 or older to vote. One vote per person. Must be a legal citizen of the United States. Voting by text not available in Guam, Puerto Rico, Alaska or Hawaii. Paid for by [Hillary] for President 2016.” The tweet included the typed hashtags “#Go [Hillary]” and another slogan frequently used by the Candidate.

Republicans Urge Minorities To Get Out And Vote On Nov. 3
      10/27/04 3:00PM

MIAMI, FL—With the knowledge that the minority vote will be crucial in the upcoming presidential election, Republican Party officials are urging blacks, Hispanics, and other minorities to make their presence felt at the polls on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

    • leon

Once again. This guy was free for 4 years. Then within a week of the administration changing he is arrested. This is nothing short of a political prisoner, and is Tyranny.

    • Count Potato

      That’s just insane.

      • Suthenboy

No more insane than the banana republic bullshit they have been up to for the last five years. They really are lunatics running an asylum

Somebody said it the other day, but this is starting to feel quite different from the country I grew up in.

Sure, there were grifters and there were activists and there were nanny starters and there were idiotic regulations and there were liberty blind spots, but there wasn’t some coordinated social movement attempting to exile their political opponents from polite society.

        No, this is different.

      • Count Potato

It’s seems to be getting way worse when journalists are caterwauling that platforms aren’t doing enough censorship.

I peruse Reddit for some memes regarding computers, but i don’t kid myself that it is any sensible location for having free or open conversations. the place is Entirely occupied by leftists and the Company is run by leftists.

I read the college football reddit. That is reasonably politics free. But, yes, to the rest of it.

NBC just showed Joe talking about his EO that requires the feds to buy only zero-emission cars. “It will create 1 million jobs!” Not at all surprised that Joe’s statement wasn’t immediately rebutted by a newsreader reminding us that it was “unproven,” “false,” “unsubstantiated,” or “unproven.” Shit, if Trump had said, “The sun will come up tomorrow” the media would have said “Scientists say that remains to be seen.”

    • leon

All i can hope is that everytime the media does these blatant agenda driven switches, a few more people realize what a complete sham it all is.

The one that i hope people catch on is with the governors immedeatly flipping on lockdowns as soon as Biden was sworn in. It would be nice to see some voters looking for retribution against these guys who transparently destroyed their lives, without prejudice, just to just to get at Trump.

Anybody just know that zoom/teams/virtual meetings is going to be your career downfall when eventually you press the wrong button or forget it’s on and you call someone a retard? I have to keep my virtual software on at least 3 hours a day. I don’t need to have a camera or microphone but I need to be prepared to take virtual calls. I realized the other day I just left my microphone on luckily no one was in the virtual room.

I come from the last generation where saying retard, gay, fag, and so on were standard swear words.

    • Viking1865

I only ever use “Hold Spacebar down to talk” in Zoom. I never toggle the mic on or off.

      • straffinrun

I’m just catching up on what happened while I slept. Seems like a lot of people are glad the shorts are getting hammered. In theory there isn’t anything wrong with shorting a stock. Crony markets change that dynamic, however.

    • Viking1865

Just for the record, this is the standard way to get a site, server, or forum banned. Pop in with a sock-puppet, drop some explicit hate speech/violent threats/illegal images, screenshot and report.

User “Shorty Melvin” posts CP in a side channel, boom down comes the server.
