I’m more of a sear it and bourbon it kind of guy and that is, in fact, what I did tonight.

Grilled steak and asparagus with a Freeland Bourbon.

    • Stillhunter

Nice. Sirloin and Bulleit for me.

    • C. Anacreon

Does it count as having ribs if you have a microwaved Big AZ rib hoagie sandwich from the gas station mini-mart?

      • Creosote Achilles

I’ll allow it. but only because I use to work for the company that made those. Or, well, the predecessor. I use to have to eat a bite of those once a week. I loved the whole line of Big Az Sandwiches. But I’m 12 going on 50.

      • C. Anacreon

Their jalapeño cheeseburgers are pretty good, too.

I’m always amazed at the breadth of experiences we have on this board.

      • Creosote Achilles

They are higher quality than you might expect. But the buns are the secret. The facility that makes those sandwiches (Or use to it, was a long time ago) had both the bakery and the assembly line for making the sandwiches. And the bread is pretty amazing in that it tastes good out of the microwave. There’s some combination of the water, and the humidity in that location that we never could replicate at other bakeries. We use to joke there must have been an Indian burial ground or something.

Nothing quite like snagging a fresh piece of the bread rolling out of the oven on the way through the plant in the morning for breakfast.

      • UnCivilServant

        You mean for “Quality Control”.

      • Creosote Achilles

        Exactly

      • commodious spittoon

“Good lord! According to the spectrolyzer, Spargle’s secret ingredient was… water! Ordinary water!”

“Ah, so the real gift Spargle gave you was confidence. The confidence to be your best.”

“Yes, ordinary water, laced with nothing more than a few spoonfuls of LSD.”

    • DEG

I had to do a double take on #1. She looks like someone I used to know from swing dancing.

Unfortunately, there are face diapers later in the gallery. Blech.

    • Spudalicious

    • Festus

#22 for the win. This old man likes DaniDashley because she looks like a hot neighbor that might invite you in for a coffee after you snow-bowed her driveway. I like the real girls.

  2. DEG

    Yummy.

I realize that I’m biased, but q-ette is objectively the best and anyone who disagrees is a hate filled bigot.

I’m tempted to agree with you. ?

    • UnCivilServant

“objectively” – I don’t think that means what you think it means.

      • commodious spittoon

It literally means what he said.

      • Q Continuum

        I’m literally dying over here.

There you are! If you’re back home from snowbirding, you may be among those potentially interested in this Forum discussion re: a Miami Valley Glibs meet-up. (Remember the Forum requires a separate log-in, same credentials as for main site.)

I enjoys these guys videos, Swiss. Thanks for sharing!

Sure am glad I don’t need to try any of those bogus tips.

But when pulling her testicles back down into her scrotum during her final attempt, one of them twisted around the cord it dangles from.

*backs slowly out of chat room*

    • Chafed

All hail the do it yourselfers.

  5. Timeloose

Hello all. Shitty week here but the liquor is flowing now.

Sounds like your weekend is starting right.

“First drag queen certified as a candidate for United Methodist ministry ‘speaking in a new way to new people’

“Isaac Simmons is the first openly gay man to be certified within the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and, as far as anyone can tell, the first drag queen certified in the United Methodist Church.”

His drag-queen name is Penny Cost. Really!

Im off to work, kids. Don’t burn the place down.

    /Stands, salutes Zoom call.

    • trshmnstr the terrible

We should do a run of glibs discs. $500ish gets us 50 discs with a custom foil.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Innova Destroyers, White with an oil Black stamp, Sweet!

      • trshmnstr the terrible

I’ll see if I can get together the scratch to do it next month. I’ll also ping SP and make sure TPTB are cool with us using the logo and selling them here for a bit over cost and donating the proceeds to the site.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Keep me in the loop, I’lll kick in to make sure they are real PDGA discs,
        PDGA #169877

      • trshmnstr the terrible

We can buy direct from Innova, $9.25/disc for star plastic, $80 fee for custom foil, minimum order of 50. I’m thinking that your idea of white Star Destroyers with a black foil would look good.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Yes! it fits, and they might sell, send me buy in details when you are ready,

      • Yusef drives a Kia

I drive a Halo Star Destroyer, when I get it out, the Boys go , Ah fuck, here he goes, and I go, Far…

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Trashy, I’m 40000th best, 805 rating, Ha Ha!

    • Gustave Lytton

How convenient that the latest shooting incident involves a failure of red flag type action. Guess that’s another loophole that needs to be tightened.

      • Q Continuum

This is the one they’ve been waiting for; white male, red flag failure, AR-15. It checks all the boxes.

      • Mad Scientist

You asked for miracles. I give you the F.B.I.

    • commodious spittoon

More like Dewey, who, let’s be honest, was all red flags.

      • rhywun

That must be what Q meant because right on both counts

    • blackjack

How the fuck are we suddenly getting one of these every few days? Did they all base their decision on who’s in the white house? Is TMITE just hunting these down and pushing them? Fucking perplexing. It’s as if these whack jobs are on the dem’s payroll or something.

      • commodious spittoon

I don’t like that they gave him a MAGA cap

      • Plinker762

Well, MAGA Prime is a Russian asset.

      • Q Continuum

“Is TMITE just hunting these down and pushing them?”

        Bingo.

      • EvilSheldon

It’s because everyone’s mental health is all fucked up after a year-long house arrest. And, because effective psychological treatment is no longer generally available since the advent of ‘talk therapy’.

      • Chafed

        What constitutes effective psychological treatment?

      • Gender Traitor

        Powerful pharmaceuticals?

      • Plinker762

For me, motorsports and living near Idaho. The last six months I’ve been going snowmobiling almost every weekend in Idaho. There I could shop in a store and walk into a bar/restaurant sans mask.

  8. Gustave Lytton

Hilarious to watch people fall over themselves defend the senile imbecile’s use of “Japanese boy” for a 29 year old man.

Yoshi, I know how proud you are — the people of Japan are — and you’ve got a Japanese boy coming over here and guess what? He won the Masters. He won the Masters. He won the green jacket

‘He didn’t mean anything by it. He’s an old man!’

Yeah right. This is the same guy who called Obama clean and articulate. But he gets a pass because team uber alles.

Then there’s the fact that the president of the US lacks the manners to address a foreign dignitary properly but instead uses a diminutive of his given name. Grow the fuck up, man.

    • Chafed

100%. I don’t think he’s malicious. But he is incompetent. He should be called out for it.

      • Akira

100%. I don’t think he’s malicious. But he is incompetent. He should be called out for it.

It’s always worthwhile to point out an inconsistency between someone’s actions and the standard that they impose on everyone else, even if the action in question is trivial.

  9. UnCivilServant

With all the cries of ‘Das Rayciss’ with regards to media, I am loathe to throw out such an accusation. But, I’ve been reading old public domain pulp magazines, and just went through a story in a detective rag from 1931 which contain a story that was positively vaudevillian in its depictions. I don’t think the people throwing around the accusation these days have got any perspective.

And to top it all off, the mystery wasn’t even that good.

    • rhywun

I don’t think many people dispute the fact that America was a much more racist country back then.

My beef is with the lying media and lying politicians who pretend that nothing has changed since then.

      • UnCivilServant

        I had a bit of a thought.

In the current state, there’s no one who would regard the story as fit for publication. But if I took and made some judicious edits to give it a race lift and make the cast a bunch of rednecks and the stolen patent medicines fish tank cleaner, I’d wager a not-insignificant number of people would have no problems whatsoever.

      • commodious spittoon

Malice often makes the point (with reference to the original source, whom I can’t remember) that the modern opprobrium suffered by white trash Americans, with the hick accent and the implied ignorance and cousin-fucking and so forth, is pretty much identical to how old-school racists impugned blacks. The races changed, the tropes didn’t.

      • Toxteth O'Grady

        And VDH.

      • blackjack

He’s a venereal disease hero? With a burning desire to help?

      • Chafed

That or Victor Davis Hanson. Possibly both.

      • commodious spittoon

Listen, I took the pills and my VDH cleared up fine.

Honestly, if you put a gun to my head and asked me to pick out VDH from Scott Adams in a lineup… I’d probably wet myself, you have a gun to my head

      • commodious spittoon

Also, VDH sounds like John Malkovich, except I’m sure Malkovich isn’t based.

      • commodious spittoon

        That’s Daria, right?

        Barely before my time

      • Toxteth O'Grady

PS. Just realized Dar has a monocle: how apt.

      • commodious spittoon

Sorry, I hate to be a pain, but I had it all along. And I’m willing to give it to anyone who asks,

      • Q Continuum

It’s a psychological warfare tactic; the end result of watering down terms like “racist” (and xenophobic, homophobic, misogynistic, etc.) so that they’re essentially meaningless and anything can be labeled as such. The terms still carry emotional impact but have been totally divorced from reality. It’s a way of gaslighting and manipulating people’s responses.

      • commodious spittoon

I’m thinking (hoping) the opposite is true… there’s not central authority over these thing, they’re squabbling pigs in shit, and all these ists and isms are the only purchases they have on power. And they’re wearing out their welcome, even among one another. They’re the only assholes being gaslighted.

      • UnCivilServant

I’ve noticed that the overuse has dulled the emotional impact of the accusation.

“Yeah, sure, whatever” being more and more common a reaction.

    • Hank

Some people mine history for examples of white racism to prove that whites are tainted by original sin and must be re-educated.

Others check history, including the history of other countries with racial diversity, and think the improvement in white public opinion since 1931 is pretty good for government work. The reason the racism of the past is shocking is that it’s less frequent nowadays.

Think of the Orcs after the overthrow of Morgoth and, later, the destruction of the Ring. (Morgoth being African slavery and Sauron being Jim Crow and associated evils). Without Morgoth and Sauron the Orcs (white supremacism) have no organizing power and they’re scattered and *lots* less powerful.

But to get away from that particular metaphor, other racist monsters will come up, not always white racists (though they still exist) – the puke-inducing woke ideology has racist components essential to its existence, but it’s called “reverse racism” or something euphemistic.

      Cheers!!

        Hey-yoooo!!!

        Been day drinking.

      • commodious spittoon

        Been day drinking
        Once, before 5
        I enjoy drinking
It’s just as simple as that
Well, it’s just a simple fact

      • Tejicano

We had a few at the office last night after work. The CEO drinks Chu-hai but I can’t stand them – they really screw up my gut the next day. She also bought a bunch of low carb beer – bleah, so I went out and bought some proper beer.

      • commodious spittoon

        When you want to drink
and the sun hasn’t set quite yet

      • Timeloose

        Night drinking here but hard.

  11. Gustave Lytton

Picked up a dry aged ribeye (45 day) from the butcher tonight. For Sunday dinner.

    • egould310

      Cook that mofo up good.

    • Tejicano

I just took a half brisket out of the freezer to defrost so I can smoke it tomorrow. Also will be grilling an angus ribeye and a tenderloin. Burgers for the kids.

  12. Hank

Well, speaking of racism, it seems Ted Cruz is against saving Asians from Hate.

“Ted Cruz among a small number of Republicans opposing bill to address hate crimes against Asian Americans

“The junior senator was among only six Republicans who opposed advancing a bill that would expedite the processing of hate crimes against Asian Americans by the Justice Department….

“The COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act was introduced in March by U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, and U.S. Rep. Grace Meng, D-New York. It aims to expedite the process of reviewing “COVID-19 hate crimes” by designating a specific employee in the U.S. Justice Department for that task.”

Ted Cruz babbled something about corrupt Democrats and their lying messaging tactics, and something about a lawsuit against Yale. I wasn’t paying attention because of his hatey-hatingness and Republicans like him causing attacks on Asians by saying the coronavirus comes from China.

    https://www.texastribune.org/2021/04/16/ted-cruz-asian-americans-hate-crimes/

    • UnCivilServant

      These thoughtcrime laws are unconscionable.

And I doubt the authority of the feds to even create general police laws. That is a power of the states.

      • Hank

If the Republicans had any balls they’d offer an amendment requiring the IRS to give a report on anti-Asian discrimination by 501(c)(3) organizations, including universities.

      • Q Continuum

*watches ship sailing far off into the distance*

    • rhywun

      COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act

OFFS. Can they throw any more buzzwords into it?

    • Urthona

According to pundits, the purpose of this silly and pointless law was to goad Republicans into filibustering it thereby giving them an excuse to end the filibuster without it tying it to one of their blatant power grabs.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Only six? The Republicans are bought and paid for pussies.

    • Chafed

JFC. Let’s see if they get swept out in the next election or reelected. I increasingly believe Canadians are, for the most part, spineless.

    • Mad Scientist

      That’s just fucking disgusting.

    • Akira

Even if you support the COVID restrictions 110%, you should be able to acknowledge that these power grabs are setting a dreadful precedent for the future and that there needs to be a serious debate about what exactly is keeping our governments in check (spoiler: nothing)

The same people who lambasted the PATRIOT Act are now cheering on all of this shit. They’ve been convinced that “Reopen” protesters are more dangerous than the military-industrial-intelligence complex.

      • Gustave Lytton

If only. They’re convinced it’s only for the good and nothing bad can come of it. And covid is an existential threat so anything goes.

They’ll also be completely shocked when they’re up against the wall as well. “But the test is wrong!” “There must be a mistake!” “If only Comrade Kamala knew!”

      • Akira

And covid is an existential threat so anything goes.

Yea, they seem to love existential threats, don’t they?

“Climate change” comes to mind. In 2016, I tried to persuade countless people that Hillary is THE most corrupt, plutocratic, hypocritical, warmongering politician in the country. Most of the time, they reluctantly acknowledged how horrible she is on all these things, but they’d fire back with “But none of that matters if climate change destroys the planet, so I’m going to have to vote for her. Even if she makes some bad policies, we can move back on those later. We on the precipice of irreversibly damaging the planet, though.

It was a fucking chore to try and tell them:
        – Most climate scientists are not predicting any kind of existential threat to humans. The ones who do predict that get the lion’s share of publicity though.
        – It’s not a simple matter to just “move back” when civil liberties have been taken away. There’s not much incentive for politicians to give them back since even a few deaths that could tangentially be connected to that would be blamed on them. It’s safer to just leave it be until everyone forgets about it.

Got way off topic there, but yea, COVID provides them the logical “out” to any argument about civil liberties.

      • Gustave Lytton

Not that far off topic. It’s the same authoritarianism throughout, and the judgement of the chosen elite should rule over individual voluntary choice.

  13. blackjack

My kid is totally obsesses with Rainbow’s Stargazer. He is approximating the sound on his guitar without playing any of the chords. Or any actual chords for that matter. Yet, it still has the unmistakable sound of the song. I really need to get him in some lessons.

    • commodious spittoon

My son is obsessed with Rainbow Six, and wondering why these bitch ass Ubisoft shitheads aren’t developing a proper tactical squad shooter in the vein of Rogue Spear or Ghost Recon, instead focusing on multiplayer trash…

      • UnCivilServant

        One word – Microtransactions

You can churn more in multiplayer trash than in any other game format.

      • commodious spittoon

We need to do away with capitalism… so we can properly portray the capitalist 1990s glory.

I should have realized that Las Vegas was the end of what I wanted, not an anomaly.

      • UnCivilServant

With creative content, if you really want something, put in the effort to be able to create it yourself.

Indie devs still pop up and fill the market niches all the time.

What I’m saying is, your son should learn to code.

      • commodious spittoon

There is no son. There’s only disappointment… which you can’t spell without son.

Can’t also spell learn to code without son.

Also, put in the effort to be able to create it yourself you can also almost spell with son.

But with creative content, even the last you can spell with son.

    • Chafed

I hope you sing along. I don’t think I could stop myself.

    • Chafed

It’s The Sun so I’m not sure how accurate any of that is. And who knows what she was like before he went rogue.

    • Mad Scientist

      Maybe she should put out.

    • KSuellington

The poor guy is addicted to escorts. There is no way he can just go cold turkey. He has to slowly be weaned off them.

      • Mad Scientist

        He should get the patch.

    • Hank

So I guess an escort ranks below a courtesan, but above a regular hooker.

So from most to least respectable it’s courtesan, escort, fille de joie, hooker, guy who gives hand-jobs in parking lots, journalist.

      • Mad Scientist

You forgot to put crack whore in there just above journalist.

    • rhywun

Yeah, but the left doesn’t have any shame so it’s not like her followers care. Oh, you might peel one or two off but in the grand scheme of things it sadly doesn’t accomplish anything to point out their hypocrisy.

Ford is a “Conservative”. What’s become of my Country? This is nut-bags crazy. We’re next.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

      • Festus

Justin wanted Chinese vaccines. That never panned out so we are currently at about 20% of the vaccination rate as compared to America. Lockdowns in place and looming. Company is lighting its hair on fire.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

I guess buying Sputnik is out for political reasons? The Russians are pumping that stuff out like gangbusters.

    • Tejicano

Amazing how draconian they go so quickly. You would think this was weaponized Ebola – something with a death rate of over 30% of infected people.

If it was anywhere nearly as dangerous as these measures should imply people would be doing this voluntarily. Heck, it would be immoral to ask police to interact with people ignoring the guidelines.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

It’s batshit crazy and is a declaration of war on the people regardless of the motivation.

      • Tejicano

True. But the bigger problem is how many people are joining the enemy and making their job of ruling us all like sheep so much easier.

      • Festus

We’re cut from a different branch, up here. The only maskers you see outside are the young and the very old. Mid-lifers like me wear it for get along to go along purposes. Why make trouble for that kid that you’ve been buying beer from for two years. It’s cowardly but I’m not willing to die on that hill.

    • Festus

Good to see that some jurisdictions are refusing to follow along. Ontario has their own Provincial Police. We are strictly Mounties aside from a few larger centers like Vancouver and Victoria. They will come for us in the end. Judi was shopping today and she said it was like Xmas. We’re in the middle of of an April heat wave and everybody is headed out camping even though ice-off is probably still a couple of weeks away. I don’t blame them. Weenie roast at the lakeside is fun.
