I want one to display in my office. I’m in defense, and my company has put a few payloads on SpaceX flights.

      I think it’d be awesome!

    Jerry Ford’s lost gold?

    • Hank

Yeah, notice that it was the stupid hat who mentioned it. It was supposed to be kept a secret.

    • Dr. Fronkensteen

Yeah that threw me. I thought it was FDR’s lost gold that Truman was looking for when he renovated the White House. Truman only claimed to be searching for the cornerstone to cover the search for the gold that FDR took when he outlawed the private possession of gold.

    • Brochettaward

Though the video clips of Chester only provide snippets of his remarks, they do provide enough context to make it clear that the general thrust of his comments hasn’t been concocted through editing.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong about this oft repeated claim, but doesn’t Veritas release full, un-edited videos of everything they cover?

      • blackjack

Well, 5 dates at, oh let’s say at least an hour per. You really wanna watch all of that?

      • blackjack

Because if you did, you’d be the first!

      • Brochettaward

Well, that’s the point. They obviously produce edited down versions of their content, but then release the raw video, as well. The line about them selectively editing is propaganda. There’s rarely any explanation of what is dishonest, but just a blanket assertion that they did the deed.

      • blackjack

Yeah, I have no reason to distrust them. Every assertion he’s made has been pretty solidly shown true. If someone makes a claim that he’s fudging things, he’ll trot out the proof he needs. Meanwhile, ABC, NBC, CNN, NYT, etc. just lie and lie and nobody seems to care a whit.

      • westernsloper

Veritas has always exposed the obvious. I have yet to be surprised by anything they expose. I am not convinced it matters other than confirmation of what is known. Will anything happen? Nope. And most people will think it is ok. So we have major news networks shilling for the Dems and Fox shills for team R. Should that be counted as a campaign contribution for the gazzilions CNN spent to promote team blue? Then every right wing talk radio host will have to claim the same as well as numerous fox news shows. While I find it hilarious Veritas burns these losers I don’t see a point unless it can be proved criminal and I aint no lawyer so I don’t know it is criminal.

      • blackjack

Even criminal is fungible now. We are truly screwed. What Veritas is good for, is keeping the flame of hope alive for the people who will resist all of this craziness. That’s crucial.

      • westernsloper

Criminal is ignored these days depending on class and political status. Ya we are a banana republic. I love Veritas does this stuff don’t get me wrong, I am just under no delusion it will matter.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

People who don’t care for CNN won’t like it one bit while CNN lovers and reflexive antiTrumpers will think it great. As western says, it won’t matter in the slightest.

      • blackjack

No. If nobody was doing this kind of stuff, everybody who isn’t on board with all of this commie madness would feel alone. That’s bad.

      • DEG

I don’t know if they always do. I know in a few cases they have. It’s possible they always release the full video. In the cases I know of, they released the full video after their detractors made asses of themselves trying to paint the initial clip as “taken out of context.”

      • Hyperion

We know they (the media) are lying. They know they’re lying. Most of the useful idiots that support their narrative know that they’re lying. It just doesn’t matter. In the new woke Murika, facts and truth are just more facets of white supremacy.

To say that they are to the point and past it that they’re overly confident and setting themselves up for a gigantic fall is an understatement. But they’ve actually been to that point for years now and they just keep winning. So why would they even think about backing off? They’re doubling down, tripling down.

Jeezus H. Stupid legislature is trying to ban preschool suspensions and expulsions because of “racial injustice”. Our no shit straight up racist piece of shit governor claims such suspensions or expulsions are due to racial bias. Not because the children are feral animals who pose a danger to other children because their fuckup and absentee parents can’t raise them right. This is going to end well.

    • Brochettaward

I mean, I’d imagine a preschooler would have to go pretty far to get suspended to begin with.

      • blackjack

That’s my thought. These kids are three and four years old. How does one do something to show being dangerous at that age? ( Actually, my kid shot me square in the eye with a nerf gun when he was 4 y/o, so there’s that.)

Today I learned that the MLS season is starting soon and the Canadian teams are playing in free states like Utah and Florida because you can guess why.

Richmond, though. Hm ? Well, there’s no accounting for taste.

  18. creech

So Hitler’s been mentioned and I’ve had a couple glasses of wine. So here goes my Hitler story. Late 1970s, at an accounting conference, I got to talking to “Lena,” another attendee. Lena was from my city, so we met for lunch a few times over the next few years until my job took me elsewhere. Here’s the story she told me.
She was born in Munich in 1933, married a G.I. in the 1950s and came to America. Her mother was a school girl friend of Eva Braun. They attended a Catholic convent school together, and her family lived close to the Braun’s house. When Eva would visit her folks in Munich, after becoming Hitler’s mistress, she would frequently have lunch or tea with Lena’s mom. Lena actually referred to her as “Aunt Eva.” Lena’s mother – after the war of course – filled Lena in on some of the things Eva told her: Wolf (as Eva called Hitler) was not very interested in sex. He enjoyed the occasional blow job and, very rarely, actually had intercourse. Supposedly, he took about 10 seconds to come. Anyway, the war came and Wolf was even more distracted, leaving Eva at Bercthesgaden alone for months at a time. Eva, being a horny young lady, said she would seduce handsome members of the guard force Hitler kept at Bercthesgaden. Obviously, the guards would keep their mouths shut (one can imagine the penalty for screwing Hitler’s mistress) and Eva wasn’t going to tell either. (I don’t recall, but the story may have included an affair with one of Hitler’s close aides who was executed near the war’s end.) Lena’s father was eventually conscripted but Eva used her influence to get him assigned to Rundstadt’s headquarters staff. After the June 1944 attempt on Hitler, they never saw Eva again. Dad ended up a P.O.W. in a French camp where German prisoners were treated perhaps a bit better than German prisoners in Soviet camps. Dad came home in 1947 with untreated diseases and died of pneumonia soon after. Eva’s opinion of the toadies surrounding Hitler was very low though she always believed Wolf was doing what was best for Germany but was being betrayed by war profiteers and Prussian monarchists.

    • OBJ FRANKELSON

Dad ended up a P.O.W. in a French camp where German prisoners were treated perhaps a bit better than German prisoners in Soviet camps

The French have always seen prison as an entirely punitive measure (see Devils’ Island, French Guiana, etc.) and treated their prisoners accordingly.

      • blackjack

Unlike the principality of Monaco. Their prisoners suntan on the beach while the whole event is catered by gourmet chefs. All three of them.

      • blackjack

What shocked me was watching a show about the world’s worst prisons. They had a segment on prison in Russia. The guards carried a suitcase for the fish to their dorm. Place was all clean and bright. They acted like butlers. It was the least suffering I’ve ever seen a Russian do on film. Nowhere near as nice as Monaco, but still, way better than Los Angeles County Jail ( where I’ve stayed a few times.)

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

Must be for the oligarchs that fell out of favor with the regime.

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

Monaco having posh prisons is really not too surprising. I imagine that they were mostly serving time for not serving their purse dog on silver flatware or some other guache offense.

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

‘…not serving their purse dog on silver flatware…’

Hmm.. on reread there are a couple of ways of reading that and as far as I know, residents of Monaco do not have the same taste for that culinary meat as the Koreans.

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

Near as I could tell the American Army of the day was at least marginally compliant with the laws of war as well.

      • db

It was an eye opener for me to learn, back when, that the German surrender was delayed by Wehrmacht units actually trying to fight West so they could surrender to western European or American forces rather than Soviet troops.

      • blackjack

How long do you think it’ll take American lefties to reach that level of “respect”?

      • Hyperion

I think they’ve already decided to surrender to China rather than Russia.

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

I would liken the eastern front to a blood feud, no atrocity was out of bounds. The west was a stroll through the flower by comparison.

      • Hyperion

Without a doubt, Hitler had long since went stark raving mad by the time the walls were closing in on him. His fate was sealed when he decided to draw the USA into it.

If Hitler would have been a sane man and with patience, given the technological prowess they were quickly developing, we’d all be speaking German right now.

      • The Bearded Hobbit

I guess I have to disagree, based upon the analysis of The Second Crusade. According to this Germany had no desire to occupy all of Europe but desired the rich croplands of Eastern Europe and Ukraine. Had the US concentrated efforts against the Japanese (who actually attacked the country) the European War would have been between the Soviets and the Germans and, regardless who lost, the West would have come out the better.

Umm…. you know who else produced industrial ovens?

      • J. Frank Parnell

I read a biography of Von Braun a while back, and towards the end of the war he and his team decided they needed to find some Americans to surrender to, since they felt the Soviets were no better than the Nazis and they’d spent the last year or so firing rockets at civilian areas of Great Britain. Americans, on the other hand, might give them nice cushy rocket-building jobs and set them up pretty nicely.

When I am about to blast out of Earth’s atmosphere into orbit, it’s definitely the feeeeelings of the agency members that’s top on my list of concerns.

      • Plinker762

Why are there no Muslims in Star Trek?

      • hayeksplosives

I’m going to be serious and say that it’s because devout muslims believe anything that wasn’t already known to the prophet in the 7th century AD (or CE {eyeroll while making stroking off gesture]) and recorded by about the 8th century is not worth knowing.

No tradition there for intellectual curiosity and man playing a role in the universe’s goings-on.

      • Plinker762

        LOL at CE.

      • Toxteth O'Grady

Heh. Haven’t heard CE since college, thank dog.

        Word salad there, no doubt.

In fact, it’s word salad that a seagull just shat in. What in the actual fuck?

    • Chafed

The comments are brutal. Of course she will learn nothing from it.

    • Tejicano

They just want to burn it all to the ground.

Particularly when they make it obvious that “racist” is defined by any sliver of a shade which could possibly be construed as not anti-racist. There will be no way to end this to anybody’s satisfaction.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

I guess I see the connection now. Darn it, as an un-vaxed I wouldn’t be able to see her in person.

      I pity her cat.

      Oh, good times!

Cardio doc just called me (I’m at home). Hubby’s had a heart rate of 120-130 since about 2 am Monday night. Won’t come down with meds.

So the doc just called and said he’s in Atrial Fib and asked for permission to shock the heart to try to “reset.” He was using bunny rabbit terms until I said I’m an electrical engineer who used to work at Medtronic. He then went into actual detail.

      Fingers crossed, y’all!

Unlike V-fib, which is seconds away from death, afib can go on for a while but has its own risks (as does even shocking him out of it.)

My bet is that he has a pacemaker installed before he crosses this house’s threshold again. I always wondered if my 1 year at Metronic was a mistake; Answer: Nope.

      • Chafed

You are a strong woman HS. I hope this works for your husband.

      • hayeksplosives

Thanks, dude. I will post an update.

All: assume no news is good news. The hospital doesnt call me that often.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

Just resolved it (temporarily, natch) but will keep it in mind. I suppose I can make the same offer now that I’m rested.

      • hayeksplosives

        Thanks, Tox.

I am entertaining myself with Tom Woods podcast catchup.

Does the fact that I enjoy that mean I need medical help myself?

Kind of a new thing happened this week. My randomly assigned primary care physician, a woman, is somewhat hard to get hold of as she is a mom of a couple of young ones and wants to be there for them.

Friday, I had to get a doc to look at my lip as followup to my ER visit Wednesday. After getting through the COVID phone gauntlet, i told the appointment nurse that i just needed anyone with availability Friday morning.

They randomly assigned me an Indian lady (last name gupta) who’s probably 35 or so. She was so good in our visits, and when I explained the reason for my injury, asked if I minded if she prayed for us, that I was rather shocked for a secular institution. (She asked because I had a cross on my neck.)

Yesterday in followup # 2 with Dr Gupta (video appointment) she evaluated the injury (aces) and then asked about my emotional well-being, my husband, and when i delivered good news her own eyes glistened a bit and she said how happy she was to start the day and week with good news.

She then said if I ever wanted to transfer PCP to her, she’d be happy to accommodate it.

In my experience, doctors have a strict “mum” policy about their colleagues. I’m tempted to take dr Gupta up on her offer to transfer.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

I’m so naive about insurance, I don’t know how to locate a PCP, or even how to use this insurance thing that I have,

    • Toxteth O'Grady

      Hurray x2!

I suppose it depends how much choice you have. And some people prefer a doctor nearer to work rather than home.

Also, Tres Sr. (age 81) just had a pacemaker/defibrillator installed and was out that day. Other than some activity restrictions (which he bitched about) to give time to heal, he’s been just dandy.

I don’t get it. Is the ADA paid hourly? I’d have figured he’d be
salaried. As such, while there may be some sort of work rule
he violated, if he did his job, he did what he was paid to do.
What exactly is there to “repay”?

        And nothing else happened.

    • EvilSheldon

Uh. If I’m reading this right, the dead kid pointed an airsoft gun at the cop, the cop shot him, he came out with a knife and tried to get up, and the cop shot him again. I mean, I’m down with the whole off-the-pigs thing, but I’m not having much trouble with this one…

      • Urthona

        Yeah.

Note also: there are many airsoft guns visually indistinguishable from real guns. I knew someone who collected them (replacing the tips so they were identical). There’s one emulating every type of real gun.

        Probably a pretty justified shooting.

  26. Toxteth O'Grady

Did you all know that Trump “started an insurrection after purposely killing thousands of Americans through inaction on COVID because he was upset that people don’t like that he’s a raging lying sack of shit and so he saw better to torch the country than to save anyone but himself”?! Sorry, kinda tiresome topic, but ?.

    • Gender Traitor

      You don’t say!

You appear to be avatarless at the moment. Did you finally strip, as you challenged me to do yesterday?

      • Toxteth O'Grady

Didn’t mean it like that! 😉 Funny how I’d never seen that video before.

Yeah, am still deciding on one.

      • Gender Traitor

I was hoping to find a clip of Johnny himself, but this was the shortest with the actual quote I wanted.

I can think of no good reason to add mono and diglycerides, cellulose, polysorbate 80, and carrageenan to cream. But then again, I don’t run a multimillion dollar corporation trying to cut costs at every turn. Regardless, I won’t be buying cream from that fancy French store, Target, anymore. The wife hadn’t even thought to look at the label. What other ingredients would be in cream?!

    • Gender Traitor

Sounds more like industrial ice cream.

I’m tempted to use real cream in my coffee instead of powdered creamer, but I’m afraid it wouldn’t keep, as I’m the only cream-taker in the house, and the little individual “pods” are overpackaged and overpriced.

      Oh – and good morning!

      • Tres Cool

        That sounds like Dire Straits:

“but worst of all young man you’ve got industrial ice cream”

      • EvilSheldon

Heavy whipping cream keeps for a surprisingly long time – a week to ten days from when you crack the cap. Plus, it tastes soooooo good, and gives you some essential fats.

      • Sean

^^ This is what I use.

      • db

I don’t put anything in my coffee, but I love me a White Russian made with heavy cream. Also, when making kraft mac-and-cheese, I sometimes sub heavy cream for the milk. That kicks it up a notch. bam.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

Trader Joe’s or Straus. Cream cream, not half and half?

    Good morning, alles!

At least I can testify that hubby’s electric recliner/lift chair is comfy. I seen to have fallen asleep in it last night for at least 4 hours last night. Woke up with an empty bowl of wild mushroom risotto on the table next to me and a very happy calico cat asleep across my lap.

Now I’m in my real bed to finish the night’s sleep. Have a nice day, all.

    • Tres Cool

I read that as “empty bowel”

Nevermind, Ive been up all night.

      • limey

That’ll be along shortly, assuming this cat’s digestive tract is just about as well-suited to mushroom risotto as any feline ????

I know it’s too late for a response, CPRM but I hope that you make that move if it results in greater health and happiness.

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/04/13/nolte-head-ny-blm-calls-investigation-co-founders-million-dollar-home-purchases/

BLM has been raking in the cash to further the cause of black America while Khan-Cullors, BLM’s cofounder and a self-proclaimed Marxist, dropped millions to live with white people.

According to the Post, her most recent purchase was a “custom ranch” in Georgia that sits on “3.2 rural acres” and features a “private airplane hangar with a studio apartment above it[.]”

I’m sorry, but aren’t radical leftists such as Khan-Cullors supposed to be boycotting Georgia? Well, I guess she doesn’t want to give up that “three-bedroom, two-bath house, about 30 minutes from Atlanta [that] has an indoor swimming pool and a separate ‘RV shop’ that can accommodate the repair of a mobile home or small aircraft, according to the real estate listing.”

    • Festus

How the hell do you land a plane on 3.2 acres unless its gerrymandered through everyone else’s front yard?
