    Juneteenth, video games, and you.

    Yeah, no thanks….

    • Nephilium

Now I’m tempted to load up Fallout 2 and do a slaver run.

One of the few games where you could get stuck in a shotgun wedding (literally, there’s a farmer with a shotgun who will force you to marry his “defiled” daughter), and then sell your wife into slavery.

Video games, beer, and just say no to racial politics. That’s how I’ll non-celebrate.

      • Certified Public Asshat

But it’s not a holiday until someone scolds you. Please make some time for a good scolding.

      • Homple

I’m celebrating quietly, meditating on the sacrifices of the Union soldiers and the families they left behind to end slavery in the USA.

Oops, they ended it only in the Confederate states. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Emancipation Proclamation didn’t free the slaves in non-seceding states.

        Close enough for government work.

The author doesn’t say what caused her distaste for “Detroit: Become Human.” Is it because an apparently white person quotes MLK?

Rich people may actually volunteer for a drug-related cashectomy that could eventually help everyone, and progressives are against it because 1) the poor can’t volunteer for the same, and 2) they prefer everyone get the cashectomy against their will.

    • Count Potato

      Prescription requirements should be banned.

      • Tonio

Prescriptions are required by most insurance for drug coverage.

      • J. Frank Parnell

Yes, that’s why the left keeps fighting against OTC birth control pills.

      • Count Potato

Even if that continued, it would still be a massive improvement.

    • Tonio

I would suggest that various foundations could take the cashectomy and provide experimental drugs to poor ppl for free, but I know that would eventually degenerate into accusations of using the poor as guinea pigs.

“…she spent time with an African tribe in Namibia who dressed her in native clothing…”

      • The Other Kevin

It’s like there’s some faceless entity out there searching, probing, combing through the past with a fine tooth comb, looking for any ammunition the mob can use against anyone. Filing it away until the time is right, and using it to punish for no good reason. Sounds like some dystopian novel, but we’re living it.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

The “faceless entity” is tens of millions of unfulfilled, mentally disordered people who fell victim to the Marxist demoralizatiob efforts because the American public has been asleep at the wheel for 30 years.

      • TARDis

Who’s rolling over? I’ll cancel Netflix in a heartbeat, and tell them why.

I was already annoyed with the actress choices for Triss and Yennefer.

      • Gadfly

So why are we rolling over for them?

Not everyone is. Celebrities aren’t representative of the general populace, they are a small, status and image obsessed clique, easily bent to the ephemeral fashions of the day. Average people are less likely to roll over.

Although, I will admit, you being a Canadian probably gives you a skewed view of things, because at least from an outsider’s perspective Canadians seem to be a lot more docile than Americans or Mexicans. I’ve seen exceptions, of course, but the general trend seems to be that Canadians are the sheep of North America.

    • KSuellington

I feel utter revulsion at the groveling apologizing that the recipients of this woke bullshit engage in. If you don’t have enough balls and good sense to give a statement that says, “I’d like to take this moment, to apologize to absolutely fucking nobody. If this offends you then go sit on your thumb and spin until you feel better” then I feel like you get whatever the woke mob wants to throw your way.

    • Tonio

The pictures show Viscuso, from Roswell New Mexico, dressed in east African tribal attire and her skin coloured from the neck down in what appears to be Otjize, a pigment – made out of butterfat and ochre – used by the Himba community of Namibia to protect themselves from harsh climate.

They were taken when she was appearing in a 2008 MTV reality show where she spent time with an African tribe in Namibia who dressed her in native clothing as part of an initiation ceremony.

Sounds like she could claim to be black in some sense since actual Africans initiated her into their tribe and apparently had no trouble with buttering her up.

Good day, wokesters. Celebrate, it’s Woketeenth!

My wife woke me up this morning at 9am and said ‘It’s 9am’. And I said ‘Ughhh, leave me alone’ and rolled back over’. And she said ‘you’re not working today?’. And I said ‘It’s Woketeenth!’. And she said ‘Wut?’.

Then after a bit she comes back and says ‘It’s not Woketeenth, that’s tomorrow, 19’. And I said ‘Tomorrow is Saturday, days off work do not fall on a Weekend, Stop ruining Woketeenth!’.

      • Raven Nation

Close: “In 1959, 17-year-old Bob Heft designed the current flag for a school project when there were only 48 states.”

    • Not Adahn

The Confederate battle flag, which was crafted as a symbol of opposition to the abolishment of slavery, is just recently tired. We don’t see it much anymore. However, on the 6th, when the stormers rained on the nation’s most precious hut, waving Old Glory — the memo was received: the American flag is its replacement.

President Biden, Madame Harris and members of Congress: the American flag has been hijacked as code for a specific belief. God bless those believers, they can have it. Like the Confederate, it is tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect. It no longer represents democracy and freedom. It no longer represents ALL of us. It’s not fair to be forced to honor it. It’s time for a new flag.

      • Hyperion

Yeah, I know. Like they were going to stop with confederate monuments. And the next thing you know, they’re going after Columbus and Jesus.

The goal is Western culture, so they can replace it with communism.

In my home town they went after Frederick Douglass. The town where he lived much of his life, is buried, and was widely celebrated back before the country went batshit insane.

      • Hyperion

To the defense of the useful idiots, they don’t know who Frederick Douglas was. But their commie masters know and he represents Western culture, so…

      • Gadfly

On what possible grounds could they go after Frederick Douglass? That takes some chutzpah.

      • rhywun

I think Hyp is right – they have no idea who the hell he is.

Maybe they saw his name on one of the high schools and assumed he was just another deplorable slaveholder.

      • Not Adahn

To be fair, it’s Macy Gray, writing for NPR. These are the people who willing shell out big bucks to get scolded by Saira Rao.

      • The Hyperbole

As one of those smart libertarians that liked it when rednecks were trolled, I must admit you were right Winston. I never imagined pissing on rednecks might lead to a day when a third rate R&B singer would write a naval gazer about changing the US flag, we are definitely sliding into a hellscape from which there will be no reprieve. I apologize for not seeing it sooner when there might have been hope.

      • The Hyperbole

      • The Hyperbole

No, I would have said I won’t give a rat’s ass when it happens. Bird lovers can name their club whatever they want for any reason they want. They can change their official names of birds, that doesn’t break my leg nor pick my pocket. I’m still going to call that little brown bird with the funny looking beak “that little brown bird with the funny looking beak” whether they remove some racists name from it’s official designation or not.

      • Winston

I would also like to point out that a key architect of freedom of association was from a family of slaveowners and had some pro-Confederate views that got him canceled at Engkish Universities…

      • Winston

And SCOTUS says freedom of association exists thanks to the first amendment, written by a slaveowner.

      • Winston

And among the judges that gave the US freedom if association was a guy who interned the Japanese and another was a former member of the KKK.

In my entire career, I’ve variously been associated with institutions and projects that have strived to make a dent in the intellectual and public sphere on behalf of the cause of liberty. These efforts have surely not been wasted. Still, the lockdowns did serve as a test of the vibrancy and effectiveness of both the ideas and the institutions. It is a sad truth that these voices fell almost entirely silent just when they were needed most. When the shock of lockdowns hit us, the world cried out for answers as to why this was happening but such answers were not forthcoming. Even more remarkable, some of the very people one might have supposed would be a reliable force for opposition worked to torture their own philosophical leanings in a way to land them on the side of restrictive virus-control measures.

    ….

The “libertarian” movement (with some exceptions) not only had no consensus answer to that claim – people had not thought much about it either way – and many top voices in this community even affirmed this view, as if germs are a phenomenon visited upon the world for the first time and therefore required extraordinary measures by the state to protect society from pathogens. The lack of understanding of public health fundamentals disabled the decisive influence the “libertarian” sector of life might have had during the worst attack on liberty during our lifetimes.

Funny one of the big issues right now is that totalitarians are very imaginative and on the offensive while libertarians are on the defense and are unable to see how openly illiberal movements might actually implement illiberal ideas since that goes against progress and only a reactionary fears about the future.

“Playboy model notorious for ‘obscene’ topless Dubai pics comes out as an ‘autosexual’ who ‘wants to have sex with herself’

he Brazilian model, who recently infuriated many for posing topless in the strictly demure Dubai, has insisted that she is deeply enthralled by her own image

Playboy model Luana Sandien has pushed back against the haters who have dragged her for coming out as “autosexual” and has insisted that she is so enthralled with herself she’d like to date herself, the Daily Star reports.

Luana Sandien has stated that masturbation is much more pleasurable than sex with another person for her, and so the Brazilian model has sought refuge in the autosexual community.

“It means I’m attracted to myself,” the 27-year-old social media star said of exactly what being autosexual implies.

For anyone who may be interested, the time to join/rejoin the LP is right now.

There’s a full scale political battle between the cosmos and what I’ll refer to as the Ron Paul LP aka the Mises Caucus.

It looks like the Mises Caucus is going to win the war and the woketarians are starting to grab their toys and go home.

The deciding factor will be at the next national convention in Reno. Join up, show up, and there’s a good chance we’ll be rid of the Sarwark and have a principled third option again.

    • Hyperion

Meh. More dancing naked fat guys and Gay Jay/Weld 2 Boogaloo? No thanks. I am done with political parties forever. What we need is a new fucking planet where people are hung in public for even talking about forming a political party.

      • Suthenboy

This. My favorite is when Sarwark made the claim that North Korea is freer than the US. There is just too much bark at the moon crazy in all of the parties.

  19. Ed Wuncler

It might be because I’m a self hating black dude, but I don’t really give a shit about Juneteenth. It’s not because I hate freedom but because it does nothing to alleviate the shittiness of living in a black urban area. The Drug War is still raging, black students in urban areas are still hostages for the teacher unions, giving them no hope of bettering their situations, we still have government policies that incentivize out of wedlock births and broken homes, and have assholes who could give two shits about mowing down a group of people with bullets to settle some bullshit beef.

Fighting about whether we should celebrate Juneteenth is a mere distraction so we won’t focus on the actual issues that are fucking over blacks in urban areas.

    • Sensei

Sorry my friend. Let’s not forget all the black on black violence too.

      • Ed Wuncler

Yep. My parents don’t like traveling after a certain time after dark because Mayor Lightfoot and State’s Attorney Kim Fox basically let it be known that they won’t punish those who commit crimes.

      • Gadfly

Although I suspect they will punish those who try to defend themselves. Neighborhoods could sort themselves out, if they were allowed to do so and the government wasn’t on the side of the criminals.

      • rhywun

        Neighborhoods could sort themselves out

        They already do.

I live in a pretty safe neighborhood in NYC and believe me, I’m paying for it.

    • Count Potato

      I agree.

I’m sure the Biden/Harris administration will do some thing as soon as they find out who runs those cities.

Until too many TEAM BLUE voters move there. See Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona.

    • Gustave Lytton

I’d say that, like with police brutality/excessive force and lack of accountability, none of those issues are solely black only either. Fixing those things makes all of us better off.

Today Jeff Tucker is loudly attacking Big Tech for their censorship but back 4 years ago he was in favor of deplatforming the alt-right. Admittedly he changed his mind early on once he realized that Big Tech was engaging in political censorship but doesn’t this sum a pretty huge problem of classical liberalism and libertarianism: the belief that we are the Good People who should be running things and sometimes we need to shut up the bad people and there is no way the Good People will label me a bad person who needs to be shut up?

John Lilburne and Thomas Paine are perfect examples of this. Not to mention Mises, Hayek and Schumpeter were liberals in 1914 Vienna but I highly doubt Naziism and Communism were the future they imagined for Austria-Hungary at that time but that is the change they got.

    • Q Continuum

“doesn’t this sum a pretty huge problem of classical liberalism and libertarianism: the belief that we are the Good People who should be running things and sometimes we need to shut up the bad people and there is no way the Good People will label me a bad person who needs to be shut up?”

I couldn’t disagree more with this statement; what you are outlining is a utilitarian/Prog belief, not a libertarian one. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that this is the exact opposite of what a libertarian would believe.

    • R C Dean

he was in favor of deplatforming the alt-right. Admittedly he changed his mind early on once he realized that Big Tech was engaging in political censorship

Sounds like he was for political censorship before he was against it.

      • Winston

He seemed at first to think they were being deplatformed for economic reasons:

These people are not popular people, and their views have proven poisonous for venues like Twitter and Facebook, and are banned not for PC reasons, but simply because they reduce the value of the platforms.

      • grrizzly

Tucker these days explains the almost universal support by Big Business of Biden vs. Trump by Trump’s immigration restrictions (H-1B visas). As if it was the main factor.

      • Winston

Got to justify his love of open borders and hatred of Trump.

      • rhywun

“At the direction of New York State, Springsteen on Broadway and the St James Theatre will only be accepting proof of FDA-approved Covid-19 vaccines,” the official website says.

Interesting. I guess Cuomo was lying.

        I am shocked!

      • Sensei

Glib armchair lawyers – Technically none of the vaccines are “approved” in the sense we think of. They are emergency use. Right?

      • kinnath

Approved for use under emergency declaration.

      • TARDis

Under fraudulent and deadly means. Everyone involved deserves prison or death.

      • Animal

Not a lawyer, but I’ve been in the business for 30+ years and actually know some people who worked on one of the vaccines.

These are authorized under an Emergency Use Authorization, which isn’t a new thing they cooked up for this; EUAs have been in use for one compound or another as long as I’ve been in the business. All pre-clinical and clinical work still has to be done, but long-term studies can be incomplete.

There’s also a Humanitarian Device Exemption on the device side that allows some things to go to market in advance of the normal approval process. I worked on one of those in Silicon Valley, a new device intended to close up cerebral aneurysms. The HDE allowed use on patients that basically would have died of a massive cerebral stroke within a few days; almost all of the people instead walked out of the hospital and went home. That was an incredibly cool product.

In addition to the ‘rona EUA, there are currently EUAs in place for treatments for Anthrax, antigen tests for Ebola and MERS-CoV, and diagnostic tests for Zika (just off the top of my head.)

      • Gustave Lytton

Additionally, both Pfizer and Moderna have applied for full FDA approval for their vaccines.

Even if they really believed all this non-sense, it would end up in disaster. China and Russian are completely loving it of course because it will greatly weaken the USA and give them a huge advantage. Both of those countries are more against these absurd and destructive ideas than even Glibertarians is that is possible. The American left is a death cult. It’s not just that they hate you, they hate themselves, which I get.

So, here’s the way I see the next 4 years as far as pandemics and lockdowns go. So long as there are no major losses for democrats in the next 4 years, all of the lockdowns and restriction will go away and things will go sort of back to normal.

But if the democrats lose both houses in 2022 or the presidential election in 2024, there will very quickly be another pandemic and return of lockdowns.

I have no idea why I would ever think this, but I am 100% convinced of it.

A very weak solution of ordinary liquid dish soap (like pure castile soap) in a sprayer will do wonders. The soap blocks up their breathing spicules/openings and they suffocate, or in other cases, busts up their fatty cell membranes and they leak out and die. (There are actually several mechanisms of action, all fatal to various pests.)

There’s recipes all over the web, like this one:

So if the mises caucus types take over the LP I wonder what sort of campaign they would run. I’m guessing some anti-woke, anti-big tech, anti-war, anti-drug war, anti-cop anti-lockdown campaign. How will they deal with the left and right critiques? Will they be able to overcome the populist and antifa noise? Will they get more votes?
