The Abominable Dr. Cobia

Dr. Brytney Cobia said Monday that all but one of her COVID patients in Alabama did not receive the vaccine. The vaccinated patient, she said, just needed a little oxygen and is expected to fully recover. Some of the others are dying.

“I’m admitting young healthy people to the hospital with very serious COVID infections,” wrote Cobia, a hospitalist at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, in an emotional Facebook post Sunday. “One of the last things they do before they’re intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late.”

“A few days later when I call time of death,” continued Cobia on Facebook, “I hug their family members and I tell them the best way to honor their loved one is to go get vaccinated and encourage everyone they know to do the same.”

“They cry. And they tell me they didn’t know. They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political. They thought because they had a certain blood type or a certain skin color they wouldn’t get as sick. They thought it was ‘just the flu’. But they were wrong. And they wish they could go back. But they can’t. So they thank me and they go get the vaccine. And I go back to my office, write their death note, and say a small prayer that this loss will save more lives.”

Do you imagine she is this condescending to an ODing junkie or someone with lung cancer?

I’ve been depressed and suicidal because of my mom’s onlyfans

I’m 13 and my mom is 33. Things at school were never great. I’m sorta short so I get picked on some but it was manageable. That was, until one of my classmates showed me a picture of my mom naked. I almost had a panic attack and had to be excused from the classroom. I ended up not showing up to school for a few days(faking sick). I was hoping that things would cool off but they didn’t. As soon as I got to school almost everyone in my class was staring and laughing at me. This has been going on for about a week now. I was wondering how my classmates even got the pictures and apparently my mom advertises her onlyfans on her personal Twitter account. Some students from my school follow her so they were able to see the nudes and they have been spread everywhere. I don’t even have a Twitter so I didn’t know about any of this.

The worst part is when I confronted my mom about this she told me that I was overreacting and that sex work is basically the same as working at a bank or a grocery store. She also said it makes her feel good about herself and that I should be happy that she’s more confident now. I told the principal but they can’t suspend thousands of students or take anyone’s phones. I’ve been crying in my room everyday for the past week. I don’t think I can take it anymore.

I’m gonna be honest… I had a hard time cranking my hog to this Penthouse letter.

Thats why you dont have that power.

I really hope that OnlyFans story is a LARP but I have sneaking suspicion it isn’t. I feel for that kid with the stupid sexworker mom. But if I were his classmate I would be among the group teasing him mercilessly.

“Do you imagine she is this condescending to an ODing junkie or someone with lung cancer?”

You shouldn’t taken all those drugs?

You shouldn’t have smoked all those cigarettes?

    • Ted S.

      Or AIDS patients?

    • Bobarian LMD

Does she rub her kid’s nose in the shit when he craps his diaper?

I hold their hand and tell them that I’m sorry, but it’s too late.

Does she laugh while she’s saying it? Because it sure comes across that way.

    Brytney

There’s no way in hell they are serious about that name.

    Sure…

“I hug their family members and I tell them the best way to honor their loved one is to go get vaccinated and encourage everyone they know to do the same. …

They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political.

Your sanctimonious horseshit is a hoax and people like you have made it political.

    • The Other Kevin

Is this one of those “My brother wasn’t vaccinated and now he’s dead from COVID” tweets that 25 people post with exactly the same wording?

      • ignoreLander

Reminiscent of the “I hounded my terminally ill father into voting for Biden before he died” brand of virtue signal. I don’t believe it’s true, but if it is she’s one of the worst humans on the planet. And if it isn’t she slightly less horrible but still horrible for making up a sick story for the virtue points.

    • Swiss Servator

We just need a little follow up with that hospital…

    • R C Dean

I’m admitting young healthy people to the hospital with very serious COVID infections

This could well be true, but I would bet my own money that its not every single person admitted for COVID, which is what she implies.

      • juris imprudent

Are you implying that a gunshot wound is not more important than the ‘vid?

      • Chafed

It’s possible but statistically unlikely assuming they really are young, healthy, and don’t have comorbidities. I would be unsurprised, to the extent this is happening, to learn most of these people are seriously overweight.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

Seems to me that Cobia is a shitty doctor that hasn’t figured out how to treat COVID yet.

We have drugs and protocols that work.

  5. The Other Kevin

I saw TMBG at a small club in Chicago in the 80’s. It was glorious. Thanks for the happy flashback, SF.

    • Nephilium

I’m now curious if TMBG ever played at CBGB.

    • ignoreLander

Saw them in Austin at, I think Liberty Lunch(?). One of the greatest shows (that I can actually remember) featuring accordions. And yes, Weird Al is also on that list.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

I saw them in college in 91

      Also:

I told the principal but they can’t suspend thousands of students or take anyone’s phones.

How dare they not make the whole entire world revolve around me! I was told that I’m all that matters and I’m the most important person on the whole planet!

    • R C Dean

      • Bobarian LMD

No one but himself… and his Family.

  8. The Other Kevin

I’m trying to decide if Winston’s Mom or one of the cryptids would be best suited to answer that letter.

So Winston’s Mom vs. STEVE SMITH?

I predict, that much like US Forces in Vietnam, STEVE will win all the battles but lose the war, due to being outlasted.

      • Bobarian LMD

STEVE GET NASTY INFECTION WHEN HIM FALL INTO WRONG HOLE.

  9. The Late P Brooks

She also said it makes her feel good about herself and that I should be happy that she’s more confident now.

Go to school tomorrow and tell those other kids their moms are too fat and ugly to get on onlyfans.

  10. Animal

    Dr. Brytney Cobia said Monday…

I’m going to stop you right there, and take “Shit That Never Happened” for $500, please.

    • one true athena

Yeah, I have to wonder if this fine outlet of upstanding journalism even fact checked she was an actual doctor. Or even exists.

      • Animal

        Like that’s all that hard.

  11. Tonio

The vaccinated patient, she said, just needed a little oxygen and is expected to fully recover. Some of the others are dying.

Too bad reddit is mostly just an advertising platform for sexworkers. At least he’s getting digital sympathy from a tiny nonperverted slice of it.

    • Bobarian LMD

      • Agent Cooper

Digital Sympathy is also the name of a Daft Punk album.

    • EvilSheldon

The entire story totally isn’t some 4Chan fuckwit trying to start shit between the ‘Sex Work Is Healthy And Natural’ and the ‘Bullying Is The Worst Thing Ever’ wings of the wokeocracy…

  13. The Late P Brooks

Do you imagine she is this condescending to an ODing junkie or someone with lung cancer?

    Unquestionably.

    • R C Dean

Same here. I see no reason she wouldn’t tell a junkie or someone with lung cancer its all their fault.

Plus, she’s hugging people? Unvaccinated people? In the middle of the pandemic? What happened to social distancing? Keep in mind, she is exposed to COVID every day at work.

      • waffles

Like Wizzleteats says below. She’s either full of shit or she’s a fucking murderer.

      • ignoreLander

Plus, she’s hugging people? Unvaccinated people? In the middle of the pandemic? What happened to social distancing?

That’s what I want from my healthcare professionals. Huggy, touchy feelies, and a stern lecture on my dead relative.

“Some of the others” is … one? Two? Out of how many? How old are they? Do they have underlying conditions? Are they dying with COVID or of COVID?

Naah … who needs facts when you’re trying to short-circuit logic with an appeal to emotion?

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

I’m sure it’s one out of thousands and that poor lady has to watch them all die. She’s a saint I tells ya, a goddamn saint.

    • Hyperion

It’s just the vid all the way down. Now shutup and be afraid.

  15. Stinky Wizzleteats

Any significant numbers of young people being intubated and dying is either patent horseshit (it’s this) or this lady’s an Angel of Death (unlikely but maybe they need to look into it).

    • leon

Everything she wrote is blatantly false, and that has already been discovered.

  16. The Late P Brooks

So they thank me and they go get the vaccine.

How could she possibly know where they went, what with being knocked unconscious and all? That’s how that story would end, if I were starring in it.

    • Bobarian LMD

She knows because they left a note on her car, scrawled in what looks like chocolate pudding.

  17. Suthenboy

Good grief. Both of those stories are so transparently false propaganda….who buys that shit? My answer to both: Fuck off.

    • Hyperion

      “who buys that shit?”

Every useful idiot on the planet. And my god there are oodles of them.

  18. J. Frank Parnell

They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political. They thought because they had a certain blood type or a certain skin color they wouldn’t get as sick. They thought it was ‘just the flu’. But they were wrong.

I definitely believe all of this happened because it was in Alabama, which is one of those dumb states full of stupid people who voted for Trump, not one of the smart states full of smart people like me.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

A certain color? Nah, it just fits in too perfectly with the ‘Bama stereotype. Sanctimonious and self-serving drivel…

  19. Rebel Scum

    Good.

GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday pulled all five of his Republican members from Pelosi’s partisan January 6 committee after the Speaker vetoed his appointment of Reps. Jordan and Banks.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday rejected two of McCarthy’s Republican picks for her highly partisan January 6 committee. …

“With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee,” Pelosi said. “The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision.”

They really like the word “unprecedented” for things that have a shit ton of precedent.

McCarthy responded by pulling all five Republicans and said Pelosi was abusing her power.

“Speaker Nancy Pelosi has taken the unprecedented step of denying the minority party’s picks for the Select Committee on January 6. This represents an egregious abuse of power and will irreparably damage this institution. Denying the voices of members who have served in the military and law enforcement, as well as leaders of standing committees, has made it undeniable that this panel has lost all legitimacy and credibility and shows the Speaker is more interested in playing politics than seeking the truth,” McCarthy said in a statement.

The only way to win is not to play.

    • The Other Kevin

The whole commission is what they call “talking past the sale”. They aren’t investigating whether there was a conspiracy or insurrection. They’re investigating how deep that insurrection goes and how many thousands need to go to jail and/or be silenced.

It will be used by the Dems to unseat some GOP reps (or at least an attempt will be made)

My take on it is that the midterm elections are gonna be about a bunch of Dem seats flipping Red as the Rs retake the House, and none or almost none of the Rs will get unseated.

That’s usually what happens in midterms, plus Biden is fucking up the economy spectacularly.

      • grrizzly

I visited Australia a couple of times. So beautiful. And the people were great.

There was a sign of authoritarianism, though. I got two speeding tickets from a speed cam. Each ticket was something like $400 for exceeding the speed limit by less than 10 mph. Within 90 seconds. And the Aussies online all claimed that these outrageous speeding tickets were completely normal.

I don’t know if it works this way everywhere, but in our case the auto-rental company just added it to our bill. We didn’t have the same experience in Ireland, but there I get the impression most folks see speed limits as just sort of a suggestion.

      • grrizzly

One thing that I really liked about Germany is no speed limits on their highways. Did you get the tickets inside construction zones? Those were numerous on the roads and had speed limits.

      • Animal

Both in Heidelberg proper. Most of the settled areas seemed to have speed limits. Even the small towns around the Odenvald where we went for a long drive had signs and, presumably, camera traps.

      • Master JaimeRoberto (royal we/us)

That’s the sort of thing you should expect in Germany. Ordnung muss sein.

I got speeding tickets in Spain, but there they have signs warning you that speed cameras are ahead. Too bad my Spanish was rusty at the beginning of our visit.

The whole Alabama COVID story is just a master class in omission.

To pick just one example, they never say how many patients have died in her hospital from (excuse me, with) COVID.

Alabama is averaging 0.169 COVID deaths per 100,000. That’s per day, 7 day trailing average. Alabama has just under 5mm people, so that’s around 8 – 9 per day. Grandview is a pretty decent-sized hospital (434 licensed beds), out of 15,000 statewide, so they have around 3% of the state’s beds. They are one of the bigger hospitals, so they will get more than their share of COVID/ICU patients. My guess is they lose 1, maybe 2 a week, on the high side.

    • The Other Kevin

But all two, 100% of them looked her in the eye and regretted their life choices!

      • R C Dean

        More math:

Hospitalists work shifts. Different hospitals have different shifts, but one week on, one week off is probably the most common. A hospital that size will have more than one hospitalist at a time on duty. Its utterly implausible that she saw more than half of their COVID patients die, and more likely a quarter at most. So if the numbers are working so far, and they have lost 6 over the last month, she sees maybe, at most, 2 COVID patients die in the last month.

      • EvilSheldon

Do I even need to say it? You know that math is white supremacy…

      • Arrager

I also find it unlikely a hospital of that size, with that many ICU beds, also has a hospitalist as the primary provider in the ICU (not impossible, but less likely). If they’re that sick, they’re being managed by the pulmonologist/intensivist.

Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) district sent out a resource — intended to be a “teacher facing item” — which defined Critical Race Theory, among other progressive ideologies, and explained how to implement the ideologies in the classroom. Examples included “culturally relevant pedagogy,” “institutional/systemic racism,” “anti-racism education,” “anti-hate education,” and more.

The district defined Critical Race Theory as an “interpretive framework” that “examines the appearance of race and racism across dominant cultural modes of expression.”

“In adopting this approach, CRT scholars attempt to understand how victims of systemic racism are affected by cultural perceptions of race and how they are able to represent themselves to counter prejudice,” the PowerPoint reads.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), is creating its own rain using drone technology that blasts clouds in an attempt to tackle a heatwave in the city regularly surpassing 122 degrees.

Dubai is being drenched by heavy downpours caused in part by drones that blast clouds with electrical charge to produce rain, according to a report by Daily Mail.

The drone technology is able to create precipitation by giving clouds an electric shock that drives them into clumping together and producing rain, the report adds.

The UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) recently released video footage, which shows monsoon-like downpours completely drenching the roads, and in some cases, appear to make it difficult for drivers to move through the torrential waters flowing through the streets.

He was fine with this until he realized that this secular culture is going against him.

I was saying that years ago you moron. If you read what the SJWs were actually saying you would have known that…

The fact that public schools are a state-run monopoly is precisely why they pose free-speech dilemmas that require a delicate balancing act to ensure that schools are, as far as possible, politically neutral and focused only on the objective requirements of education

It’s saying the government actors cannot make the doctrines the underlying premise of the lectures to a captive audience of students. Similarly, the cameras in classes isn’t surveillance of the public by the government, but surveillance of the government’s agents by the public. Restricting the ability of state actors isn’t a violation of the public’s rights, it’s the very essence of it.

fantasies of political control over education

If government education is not under political control, then what control is it under?

      • wdalasio

That’s a better annunciation of the point I was trying to make. Any government function is, by definition, under political control. The question is whether those politics are those of a democratic republic or a “meritocratic” mandarinate.

      • kbolino

Paraphrasing something I saw elsewhere, “the entire point of the First Amendment is to protect US from THEM, not the other way around”

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

It’s under the control of democracy, you dummy

      • kbolino

        Indeed, and so it follows:

Democracy is about holding elections, elections are about getting the right people in charge, the right people always make the right choices, the right choices aren’t political, if it’s not political it’s not debatable, if you debate it anyway you’re a reactionary, reactionaries are dangerous, dangerous people should be marginalized, marginalizing them is just safeguarding democracy.

A perfect example of the flaws of modern classical liberals and cosmotarians is their attitude toward the judiciary. They do realize that we need judges will ruke in our favor, right? Who pray tell are these judges? Who will appoint them and where will they gain their legal theories?

Also it is really a good idea to create a society were literally every single thing requires a SCOTUS ruling?

    • Winston

Not to mention their attitude towards institutions. They do realize that institutions are filled with people right? And institutions are only as good as the people running them are. And ensuring “good people” are running them requires actively making sure that this is happening. How is that to be done?

      “Hospitalist” . I’ve seen those.
Guy (or gal) in white coat comes to your hospital bedside and says “Hi, how’s it goin’?” You say, “Fine. Except for this AFIB thing going on.” He/she says “Good, if you need anything just speak up.”

You two months later (looking at your hospital bill) “What the fuck is a “hospitalist” and why does it want $500?”

      • mikey

        Brooksed that one.

“a hospitalist at Grandview Medical Center”

What exactly is a hospitalist? Is it a doctor, or someone who builds hospitals?

    • Animal

Hospitalist. I wasn’t familiar with the term either, and I have a kid who has worked in ERs around eastern Iowa for about fifteen years.

      • R C Dean

There are also intensivists, a subspecies of hospitalist whose native environment is the intensive care unit. Most intensivists are pulmonologists, as ICUs are where ventilators are used.

      • Ask your doctor if BEAM is right for you

Huh. I guessed internist, and it looks like that’s its meaning, at least sometimes. I was surprised to find out that it didn’t always mean “some kind of doctor.”

        The stuff I learn here . . .

      • R C Dean

An internist is a flavor of primary physician (short for “internal medicine”). Its a specialty you see in hospitalists.

Didn’t you know there’s a pandemic RAGING all around us?

      • Ask your doctor if BEAM is right for you

I actually don’t think the pandemic’s all that angry.

      • Hyperion

Not only is it angry and raging, but it’s the most intelligent, trickiest virus ever. The only hope of stopping it is to lock you peasants up forever.

I was just really bored, so I decided to make one of my rare stops over at TOS to see how hard they’re being on the Xiden admin.

Here’s a preview of the hard hitting articles:

We’re not sure what Joe’s favorite ice cream flavor is, but Trump is worse than Hitler.

Biden’s not really going that hard on Putin yet, but Trump is worse than Hitler.

Biden may not be able to stop global warming and save the planet, but Trump…

    • R C Dean

Biden may not be able to stop global warming and save the planet, but Trump…

But Trump, what? The suspense is killing me!

    • Suthenboy

They are taking orders from people who are scared shitless they won’t be able to steal the election in 2024. I haven’t looked over there and won’t subject myself to that.

Analysis level: Wet streets cause rain

The major tech companies have been champing at the bit to do this for a while. They’re not so much being pushed by the government to do it, as getting the government to cover for them.

      • Hyperion

Meh. If Trump did that, they’d be cranking out articles 24/7 calling him a dictator. They’d probably even bring Shikha back. And almost every one of them will vote Democrat in the next election.

  45. mikey

Shouldn’t we just be counting all these CASES as vaxinations? They have the same effect.
In fact the vax Nazis should be mocking the Deplorables who get the coof – “Neeener, Neeeener. You just got vaxinated anyway you stoopid Neanderthal.”

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

      It’s a much broader immunity. It’s a super vax.

Regarding the Newsom recall. All those candidates, but who will Cali voters choose?

Just a reminder, here’s who votes in Cali. Cali Voters

    • KSuellington

The thing about the recall that really scares Team Newscum and the rest of Team D is that it is a two question ballot. The first is should he be recalled. If fifty percent plus one vote yes he is out. Then question two is who should replace him. So that candidate doesn’t need fifty percent or more of the vote, they may not even need thirty percent of the vote. They just need more than the other candidates and there isn’t one we’ll known Dem running. Which is why they are trying to toss Elder on a technicality. They know he has enough name recognition to win if that first question gets 50+1.

And also his idiot staff forgot to get a “D” put next to his name on the ballot so all those ultra low info voters won’t know that.

  47. wdalasio

Going over there, I wanted on this piece. It’s actually useful as an illustration of my problem with the notion of “thick libertarianism”. Essentially, it’s arguing that libertarians (“those who want to be left alone”) are caught between Democratic totalitarians and a Republican Trump cult-of-personality. Ignoring the legitimacy or not of the latter characterization beyond anyone daring to disagree with the left’s hatred of Trump, it’s a pretty stunning admission. One would think that, if you’re a libertarian, if your central political value is individual liberty, a “cultist” might be distasteful or even embarrassing, but a totalitarian would be anathema to every political principle you hold dear. But, if you allow other values (and those other values always seem to run one way – e.g. Gillespie’s “cosmopolitanism is central to libertarianism”) to become part of an overall branding of libertarianism, that choice becomes murkier. Sure, individual liberty might start out as the pre-eminent value. But, even then, it’s only the first of multiple. And, eventually, it’s one that can be safely overridden.

    • wdalasio

      “wanted” should read “wandered”.

    • kbolino

It’s a false dichotomy anyway. The right has its lickspittle wannabe dictators, like McConnell and DeWine, and the left definitely has its personality cults, like that around Obama (“scandal-free”!). Failing to understand the dynamics of power after this many years is willful naivete, which is a path straight to cynicism.

      • grrizzly

And the author of the piece is Tuccille, often considered one of the less bad writers there.

      • kbolino

There’s been a number of cases like that recently. Williamson at NR and David Burge (iowahawkblog on Twitter) come to mind as well. It’s not that they’re always wrong or even that they’re fully captured by the establishment, it’s just that they seem willfully oblivious to the dynamics at play. There’s a force that seems to be moving every single political party, government, private institution, corporate board, and cultural trend, but apparently it’s so pervasive that like a fish in water few can stand to observe it directly.

      • Tundra

Malice seems to have a pretty good handle on it.

    • zwak

“a “cultist” might be distasteful or even embarrassing, but a totalitarian would be anathema to every political principle you hold dear.”

This, while true to a certain extent, completely fails to understand why there is a “cult” around Trump. Again, wet streets cause rain. Also, it completely misses how the left is acting in a cult-like fashion with its totallitarian love of CRT. The cosmotards simply act as if big gov’t is the preferred choice of everyone and their libertarianism only seeks to deal with the US acting at that level.

  48. westernsloper

I fully believe the cunt known as Dr Cobia does exactly what she does and is a real story. As someone said above, there are treatments for this shit but the majority of doctors in big hospitals won’t use them. I personally know of a case where the infected elderly, non vaxed patient showed up to the hospital with O2 @ 70%, they tested her, said she had covid then sent her home until she later had to go back to the hospital where she died. No treatment, no nothing. They watched her die. The vaccines would be pulled if they treated people so they won’t treat people. They push nothing but the vaccines. There is a reason for that. (deletes rest of comment)

    • westernsloper

I had my neck fused in ’05, and it worked out well, I’m just glad it’s a known issue, as you said treatment is way better now, and my insurance rocks for once.
        Cheers Tundra!

      • Tundra

I’m not a fan of the Medical Industrial Complex, but the surgery advances are stunning. Back in the late 70’s my Dad had back surgery and spent two weeks in traction. My Uncle had virtually the same surgery last year and went home the day after the procedure.

        Cheers, Yusef!

      • The Hyperbole

This, most of my life back surgery was to be avoided at all cost, only undertaken as a last resort, but in the last five years, four of my acquaintances have gone under the knife at not one has a single complaint. One of them is a dack/boat lift builder and just a few months after his surgery he was back humping I-beams and jack hammering pipe.

I think they’re all in a relative cluster, but I could be misremembering what he told me.

The good news is, I’m an inch taller than I thought I was, my BP was 128/80, and my EKG was damn near perfect.

Actually, the good news is I can get rid of them.

    Humpday Zoom?

    • westernsloper

Figures you would show up on humpday for a zoom. I got questions man! I was worried about you last Sat after you checked into the second to last checkpoint. There were hours gone …………………and then I went to bed because, I am that kind of friend. I want to hear the story! If one of the real Zoom account holders sets one up I would love to hear how it went.

      • deadhead

Must have been an issue with the tracker or the reporting, because I stepped into the second to last aid station, asked to have a water bottle filled and then left. That happened to be the aid station I spent the least time in. I would have spent even less time in the final aid station, but my pacer wanted to get a bite to eat.

I had planned on having my final quad espresso at the third to last aid station, but I was feeling so good I decided to put it in my pack “for later.” Then I slowly got so tired that I wasn’t thinking right and even though I knew I had it I couldn’t understand just how much it would have helped at the time. I walked a ton in the last ten miles.

        Whee!

      • westernsloper

You are a monster. Finishing that thing is not a feat to be shrugged at and I am truly impressed. I was told I had to work then that changed late in the week so I should have at least been in Telluride when you chugged through but I suck.

He proceeded to listen to me and actually agree with my points.90 minutes later, I met with my problem boss and HR as a referee, and we got things clarified. They worked their asses off to keep me in the company, so I’m still here, but with a bit more respect.
