IFLA: The “Conflicting Signals” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of August 15

by | Aug 15, 2021 | IFLA | 117 comments

Ok, so this is weird.

There is an extremely rare, extremely powerful, extremely good sign in the Heavens at the beginning of the week, the likes of which The 5th Dimension would have used if they needed to write a sequel song that was bigger in every way:  A Planetary Sophrosyne.  In this case, you’ve got Mercury in the core, with the balances provided by Mars, Venus, and the Sun.  While this is not the theoretically best one, it is very, very good.  In fact in true astrological tradition, you could even say that the absolute best one isn’t as good as this one, because if you ever live to see the Ultramagestis Magnus, you’d know that every other moment of your life from that point forward was going to be lesser than that which you had already experienced.  At least with this one, the future can (possibly) get even better.

So what’s weird about that?

Well, starting on Thursday, with that sophrosyne still in effect, we get an alignment of  the Sun and Earth with Jupiter retrograde, which represents either the misuse of power, government incompetence in general, or sadness.  The stars can be inscrutable at times.

Not one of Yusef’s

What isn’t inscrutable is it’s a particularly great week for Virgo, containing almost all of the sophrosyne, and snatching the last of the inner planets from Leo.  Things are still good on the whole for Leo, but diminished from what they were in previous weeks.  The moon in Scorpio is an omen of accidents, so be a bit more careful out there.

What do you mean, “bathtime?”

Leo:  6 of Swords – Journey by water, route, way, envoy, commissionary, expedient.

Virgo:  Knight of Cups – Arrival, approach, advances, proposition, demeanor, invitation, incitement.

Libra:  Queen of Swords reversed – Malice, bigotry, artifice, prudery, bale, deceit.

Scorpio:  8 of Wands reversed – Jealousy, internal dispute, stingings of conscience, quarrels and domestic disputes

Sagittarius:  Page of Cups reversed – Taste, inclination, attachment, seduction, deception, artifice.

Capricorn:  King of Coins reversed – Vice, weakness, ugliness, perversity, corruption, peril.

Aquarius:  The Sun – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment.

Pisces:  Justice reversed – Law in all its departments, legal complications, bigotry, bias, excessive severity.

Aries:  6 of Coins reversed – Desire, cupidity, envy, jealousy, illusion.

Taurus:  7 of Cups reversed – Desire, will, determination, project.

Gemini:  3 of Swords – Removal, absence, delay, division, rupture, dispersion, heartbreak

Cancer:  5 of Cups – loss, but something remains, inheritance, patrimony, transmission, but not corresponding to expectations

    Desire, will, determination, project

Well, that’s just Taurus in general, dude.

    • Trigger Hippie

I think “stubborn stupid” is a more apt description in my case.

      • Mojeaux

No one ever accused Taurus of being easy-going and laid-back.

        “I’m a self-indulgent sensual hedonist and since I don’t drink, I have sugar.”

      • Trigger Hippie

Oh, no judgements here. I’m a unapologetic hedonist who can’t even out my crazy unless I heavily self medicate…it does help that I usually don’t consume much sugar. More of a salt guy.

I was in a similar situation this year. After failing to break the impenetrable wall of i. d. verification I had to request a tax transcript. Discovered that the IRS lost my return (or had not gotten through their mid April inbox) .

I refilled and it was processed in about 3 weeks.

“The Biden administration is preparing for the fall of Kabul and a retreat from any U.S. diplomatic presence in Afghanistan — a stunning reversal of expectations.”

Who could have seen that coming? I cant say it is a bad thing, we really needed to get out of there, but…this could have been handled a lot better. Again, congratulations to every idiot that voted for Biden. Even the dead ones.

Is it too early for OT?

My friend MAY be able to go home next weekend. For her, I will wear a mask.

    • Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

That’s good news – I hope she continues on that trajectory.

    • Sean

Sounds like she’s trending better. Great news!

    • blackjack

I’m so happy for her and you. I was feeling kind of dejected. It’s good to hear some good news. Thanks.

    • DEG

      This is good news.

    • Trigger Hippie

I’m glad to hear that. I know we poo-poo the subject here in general but Commie Cough can kill people. I think kinnath has had a few close family members die from it as well as few others here. Has the response to its existence been a classic example of power hungry people in governments and/or juiced in wealthy people taking advantage of a hugely overblown situation? Of course…*it still exists.

*Via government, no less. Funny how that worked out.

    • Gustave Lytton

Huzzah! Good news is never OT.

“The big picture: The U.S. embassy in Kabul wasn’t just a diplomatic building. It also was a major intelligence center with paper records and equipment there that the U.S. will remove or destroy. Protocols are in place for just such an emergency.”

LoL… like there weren’t protocols in place before?

    • Ted S.

      +1 Argo.

Although as I understand it documents are pulverized now, not shredded.

      • Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

They’re usually burned…in DC, people with Top Secret clearance put classified info in burn bags, which are collected & sent to wherever the incinerator is. I imagine Kabul has such a system.

      • Tres Cool

Back before the digital photo era really took off, annually I’d test the classified materials incinerator at Wright-Patterson AFB. Lots of film from “overhead flights”.

    https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/city-shock-taliban-enter-kabul-us-starts-evacuating-embassy-china-mocks-biden-over-complete

“We give the last word for this latest update to FT op-ed writer Gideon Rachman who presciently notes:

If Donald Trump were presiding over the debacle in Afghanistan, the US foreign policy establishment would be loudly condemning the irresponsibility and immorality of American strategy. Since it is Joe Biden in the White House there is instead, largely, an embarrassed silence.

One thing of note – which we are sure Fauci and Biden will quickly clamp down on – none of the evacuees appear to be wearing masks!!”

Almost exactly 20 years later from 9/11. The timing isn’t a coincidence. I think that Joe’s team thought everything would go great and they had some publicity stunt lined up for the 20 year anniversary. These idiots really don’t have a clue how the world goes around.

    • Q Continuum

That was something that always struck me about Team Obama (of which Team Biden is essentially a carbon copy): for being “the adults in the room” they were staggeringly parochial and incompetent.

  19. blackjack

My kid has to get a “daily pass” to go to 3rd grade. He tested positive about 6 weeks ago, so he had to wait out the ten days and now he is exempt from testing for 90 days, I assume because he can still test positive but is presumed not contagious after the ten days. Of course, the pass printing system will not allow a positive test to generate a pass. Despite having been told to do it this way. Apparently, it’s difficult to rapidly institute a Nazi like bureaucracy, especially for uneducated simpletons like the school staff.

    • Cy Esquire

      “Your papers, comrade?”

      • blackjack

The S/C will rule it’s OK, because there’s precedent. Both the Jim Crow south and the Nazis restricted segments of society from participating in certain aspects of it. Must be totes legit.

      • blackjack

I forgot, the Italians and Japanese were interred in camps and prevented from participating too, back in the ’40’s. Amazingly, all three examples were perpetrated by leftists. And the modern fourth example as well.

    From Q’s link:

“Anti-vaxxers have been holding violent protests attacking innocent bystanders in the process,” a Twitter account linked to Antifa posted earlier this week along with a flyer encouraging others to protest against the anti-mask crowd. “Now they want to hold a rally downtown, this directly puts the unhoused communities who live in the area in danger. We say no more!”

    Fucking Maoists.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Antifa, believers in government coercion to force people to wear masks and get vaccines. Aren’t they supposed to be anarchocoms?

The FBI will not rest until the perpetrators have been identified and brought to justice! Those who provoked the peace loving anti-fascists must pay. Even now, citizen volunteers are poring over the images in an all out effort to identify the evil anti-mask terrorists.

    • Q Continuum

This kind of stuff is largely why organized crime and gangs come into existence; MS-13 was started by Central American immigrants to “protect” against Mexicans, La Cosa Nostra to “protect” Italians, Undzer Shtik to “protect” Jews, etc. etc.

The moneymaking and crime comes later but the gangs always offer protection against real or perceived adversaries first. Proud Boys forms some kind of quasi analogue for wrongthinkers, but they’re clumsy and stupid. As long as the “authorities” keep turning a blind eye to this kind of shit, the more likely it is, IMO, that a true cadre of badasses comes to the rescue… for a price.

Heard about it at the end of the week. CWA is a political union and will fold after some perfunctory objections. The snowball is growing.

My company’s mid level execs are way too familiar with the percentages of companies requiring vax currently and a set period ago. Like they’re getting briefings from HR on the coming decision that ? says hasn’t been decided.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

It’s coming, and it’s coming soon. As I wrote last night, I fully expect to be confronted with the decision to get the shot or get the boot when I return from leave in November.

Now’s the time for all of us in corporate ‘Murica to get our affairs in order. Unemployment is coming.

      • blackjack

It’s true. Only half of our 4k employees submitted vax info when it was mandated to do so. They are all going down as “decline to state” meaning whatever punishment the unvaxxed get, they get it too. Our management is very harsh about all of it, so standing up to them is serious business.

      • Gustave Lytton

I do think that not all of the refuseniks are unvaxxed. There are some naive fools who still think their medical records are not of HR’s fucking business.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

Just spit balling here, but I think 70% of the 35% unvaxxed knuckle under when jobs are on the line. That leaves right around 10% unvaxxed. Add in a handful of principled objectors who have gotten the jab, and we’re talking what? 15-20% of the citizenry?

      • Gustave Lytton

And that’s before the demonization campaign really kicks off.

      • blackjack

Biden only needs 70% to have kept his “promise.” By the time the virus is on the wane, he’ll just pronounce that achieved and this will all quietly fade. Of course there will be plenty of rulings that it’s totes OK to force people to get injections you think they need and to close their businesses and whatnot, too. Always remember, the numbers are adjustable to say whatever they want. They have lots of experience with adjustable numbers.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

I dont think this is just some cynical ploy to get a PR win. Way too much effort. Way too much compulsion when they could’ve just deep sixed any cultural memory of the promise using their sycophantic media apparatus.

There’s something more going on. Whether it be financial, a power struggle, or other, there’s more than just regular day to day politics going on here.

      • Sean

I think that’s gonna be pretty close to the truth.

      • Tundra

Absolutely true. My brother got the shot but refuses to play their game. He may end up fired over it, but he’s so pissed about the vax misinfo he doesn’t care anymore.
