IFLA: The “La Plus Ca Change” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of October 3

by | Oct 3, 2021 | IFLA | 90 comments

Hmmm… some sort of moose wants to play with me.

I am very, very tempted to do some nifty formatting and just blockquote all of last week’s post because literally everything this week is exactly the same as last week with two exceptions:

  1.  MERCURY RETROGRADE (and this happened last week)
  2. The Moon in Leo

Which is not common at all seeing as everything is moving around up there, but occasionally there’s a synchronicity where the relative position of all of it remains stable for a week.  So go read last week and then come back.  Since it’s a waning crescent, it indicates a diminishment of physical comforts.  It can theoretically indicate a decline in control, but with Jupiter retrograde and in a water sign, that reading is contraindicated.

If I make myself small and unthreatening I can lure them in heh, heh, heh…

This week is apparently important for the yutes.

Libra:  Page of Cups – Application, study, scholarship, reflection.  There is also an obvious connection between this cup and Ganymede, so if that’s your bag woo hoo!

Scorpio:  The World – Assured success, recompense, voyage, route, emigration, flight, change of place.

Sagittarius:  9 of Wands reversed – Obstacles, adversity, calamity.

Capricorn:  Judgement reversed – Weakness, pusillanimity, simplicity, deliberation, decision, sentence.

Aquarius:  Page of Swords – Weasely little backstabber, and not on your side.

Pisces:  Knight of Wands – Departure, absence, flight, emigration.

Aries:  4 of Swords –  Vigilance, retreat, solitude, hermit’s repose, exile, tomb

Taurus:  The Star reversed – Arrogance, haughtiness, impotence.

Gemini:  Page of Coins –  A kid with money.  Does this mean a literal right kid, or the symbolic aspect of short-sighted spending habits?  Sure.

Cancer:  7 of Swords –  Design, attempt, wish, hope, confidence; also quarrelling, a plan that may fail, annoyance.

Leo:  4 of Wands – country life, haven of refuge, a species of domestic harvest-home, repose, concord, harmony, prosperity, peace, and the perfected work of these.   This is one of the very few unabashedly good cards.

Virgo:  The Lovers reversed – Failure, foolish design, marriage frustrated and contrarieties of all kinds.

…and strike!

He got there after Lily had been playing for two hours. She wasn’t very interested unfortunately. He comes by often, and his owner has a Scooby Doo tag on his collar.

      • Not Adahn

(tag hidden behind his body in that shot.)

      • UnCivilServant

Does said owner share any resemblance to any member of the gang?

      • Not Adahn

        No ascot, no beard.

He looks old enough to have watched the show regularly.

Oddly enough there IS a dog there actually named “Scooby Doo.” It’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

  2. Yusef, and the Giant Cat

“Virgo: The Lovers reversed – Failure, foolish design, marriage frustrated and contrarieties of all kinds.”
But I’m not married, I call BS!

    • Not Adahn

      Frustrating, isn’t it?

  3. Mojeaux

    Taurus: Arrogance, haughtiness, impotence.

Why, no, I CAN’T move the house almost all by myself as I did when I was 18. Who’d’a thunk it?

      • Mojeaux

        Exactamundo!

    • Animal

Mojeaux – per your question in the dead thread, sent you a PM in the forum. Thanks!

      • rhywun

I just slept through the game I was watching. Enh, it was a draw anyway.

      • Mojeaux

I may fall asleep too. Working nonstop for the last 3 days, starting to move.

How did we get all this CRAP?!

      • Mojeaux

And I try so hard to cull regularly.

  4. Tres Cool

Jugsy successfully delivered to the airport and is currently on her way back to the eastern seaboard.

Im left unsupervised (again) for a fortnight.

What do your stars have to say about that, Mr. Smarty-Pants ?

    • MikeS

I see tall cans in your future.

      • Chafed

        Accompanied by no pants.

    • Jerms

I see you either wAking up on syphilis couch or the genital warts hammock.

Gemini: Page of Coins – A kid with money. Does this mean a literal right kid, or the symbolic aspect of short-sighted spending habits? Sure.

Time to go buy that $20,000.00 spectrum analyzer for my hobby bench, I guess.

    • slumbrew

By comparison, the wildly expensive e-ink tablet I want is a totally responsible purchase.

But I can’t read my handwriting. Why would I want to subject a computer to that?

      • The coolest vaccine-free BEAM in the world™

Because your computer’s infinitely patient and never has anything better to do.

      • UnCivilServant

That’s what you get wrong, meatbag.

      • The coolest vaccine-free BEAM in the world™

Your computer’s named Bender Bending Rodriguez and smokes cigars?

  6. Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

Vigilance, retreat, solitude, hermit’s repose, exile, tomb

Sounds ideal, minus the tomb part.

    • Not Adahn

Well, “coffin” used to refer to pie crust.

    • rhywun

The stars know me this week.

  7. juris imprudent

Vigilance, retreat, solitude, hermit’s repose, exile, tomb

I’m not all that bothered by that, except maybe for the last part.

  8. Gender Traitor

Scorpio: The World – Assured success, recompense, voyage, route, emigration, flight, change of place.

Since I’ve just re-found my birth certificate, maybe I should go ahead and apply for that passport before I lose the required paperwork again.

  9. PieInTheSky

I am drinking a craft beer called gaura neagra (black hole) and what I find funny about it is they claim some competition medal on the label. This is frequent for wines, putting medals or Parker point on bottles but rare for beer.

Bronz medal 2017 Lexington, USA . I assume there was some sort of beer competition in 2017 in Lexington. though in these competitions bronze medals don’t mean much

    5% alcohool, ep 12.5P ibu 35 ebc 88

decent for a dark beer which i am not a fan of

  10. limey

Is Coleman Hughes podcast any good? I noticed his latest episodes feature Abhijit Banerjee whom I found interesting if not entirely compelling from EconTalk podcasts of old.

    • PieInTheSky

      podcasts are usually lame.

      • limey

I disagree very much. I enjoy many podcasts, so I am increasingly selective as to which I listen to. I have less time for listening now, too.

    • slumbrew

I’ve enjoyed Hughes on The Fifth Column, haven’t heard his podcast.

      • limey

I noticed he has recently featured David Hogg for a discussion about gun control.

    • Zwak, sensual panzer

I have enjoyed his writing, I don’t do pudcasts.

    • PieInTheSky

      that is never on topic

    • slumbrew

      Just like the pros.

    • UnCivilServant

There’s more to it than one argument.

    • Not Adahn

What kind of electrician uses a bat to kill people?

      • juris imprudent

        Was clue printed on it?

      • DEG

A former coworker of mine had a 2×4 next to his desk. Written on it was “CLUE BAT”.

    • DrOtto

It could have been worse. At least he didn’t shoot them.

  11. Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

I have these moist towelettes with the brand name “Ass Wipes”. And I just noticed in the corner of the packaging it says “Now easier to finger” (as in, remove a towelette from the package)

    I LOLed

    • Mojeaux

      China is asshoe.

  12. Mojeaux

I do not understand some of these rules, like offensive holding. Holding is their ENTIRE JOB.

    • Jerms

Youre right. The penalty should actually be called “grabbing”

  13. Zwak, sensual panzer

Aquarius: Page of Swords – Weasely little backstabber, and not on your side.

Well, that sucks. But, in other words, the Webley air pistol I purchased is going to take a bit more work than I thought to get working properly again. It is an MK2, made from 1925 to 1930, so parts ain’t too common, and only come from England, where I have to read between the lines of parts catalogs to see things that will work, or get up early in the AM, make a phone call to a small business and see if we can understand each others English, all the while confusing the wife. But, in the end, it will be worth it.

    • DEG

Best wishes. Let us know how it works out.

  14. grrizzly

Most of this conspiracy stuff from 2009 has already been implemented.

    • Dr. Fronkensteen

I still think it’s funny that she lost because she couldn’t complete the snatch.

  15. grrizzly

I managed to understand quite a bit of Polish here.

Polish MPs protest for Australia’s human rights outside the Australian embassy.
“The whole world sees what is happening in Australia. Australia has contracted Covid madness.”

    • Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

      Women don’t exist anymore, see?

    • Yusef, and the Giant Cat

      Just no, that ain’t natural……

  16. prolefeed

At ACL Fest. 90%+ not masked, including in the “mandatory” area close to the stage. ?

    • grrizzly

introducing weekend curfews for unvaccinated individuals.

What does it mean? Where is Pie?

    • rhywun

      weekend curfews for unvaccinated individuals

That’s past my breaking point too.

Authorities also issued mask mandates for indoor and outdoor public spaces in areas with more than six coronavirus cases per 1,000 residents

      OFFS.

      Beyond stupid.

  17. DEG

country life, haven of refuge, a species of domestic harvest-home, repose, concord, harmony, prosperity, peace, and the perfected work of these. This is one of the very few unabashedly good cards.

    Not shitty enough.

    • MikeS

My god. Fucking monsters. Every single cop (and holy shit how many does it take to arrest one guy) involved should be fired. The ones that didn’t do any punching and kicking still went along with it. Assholes.

      • rhywun

The article says the perp injured one of their own. The perp is lucky to be alive.
