Dang it. I got home from work and lay down for a nap, so I’m no longer dressed. Neighbor comes over snd husband lets him in. I am now stuck in the bedroom and can’t get up and go get dressed because I can’t tell where they are chatting in the house.

Grrrzz I like neighbors but not the unannounced type.

    OT:
*racks brain trying to figure out why the car’s water pump isn’t fixed after doing the correct procedure*
*simultaneously racks brain trying to figure out why there are 3 separate water pumps listed on RockAuto*
*realizes that the car has more than one water pump*

    • Yusef drives a Kia

What? why three? what do they all do?

      • trshmnstr the terrible

Only two, a primary (they also call it the engine water pump in some documents) and auxiliary (heater water pump in some documents). The third was an older version of the primary.

Anyway, I had been doing the procedure to the auxiliary, but the primary was popping the code. There’s no Haynes manual for this particular car, and the service manual I found online didn’t have a helpful cooling system diagram (it was missing the part numbers), so I was shooting in the dark.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

I’ve skimmed through the HVAC section of the manual. Looks like they need this dual system for times when cabin heat is on but the ICE is off (hybrid car). There’s a valve that can shorten the loop in that case and run as a small heat pump without using the radiator and other engine cooling components.

      • The Last American Hero

I presume they pump water, but you may want to check with an automotive engineer or mechanic.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

In the 60’s Mercury had a V8 engine with a separate water pump for each head. However, there was only a temp sensor on one side; Dad’s friend lost an engine because the pump on the other side failed.

      LOL that’s actually pretty funny.

      • Ownbestenemy

That’s the thing. I might be fired (tooting my own horn…I’m an excellent employee that has had multiple pay raises for demonstrated abilities, very rare in FedGov)

They might fire another that also is an excellent tech.

We are purging actually excellent employees that are good at their jobs, never had discipline issues and just like that.

Fuck em. It takes 2-3 years to spin up our technicians to be somewhat proficient. Good luck fuckers

      • rhywun

We are purging actually excellent employees that are good at their jobs, never had discipline issues and just like that.

        Why are we doing this?

It makes no sense unless it’s deliberate.

    • trshmnstr the terrible

The Air Force said that by Dec. 2 it would complete its review of requests for medical and religious exemptions. Thus far, a total of 1,866 requests for medical or administrative exemptions have been approved. It said zero requests for religious exemptions have been approved

Prepare to be fired if you go the religious exemption route. This will probably be how most companies do it, as well.

      • rhywun

I guess I’m a little surprised at the disrespect, but… not really.

Well, I already decided I’m not going to try that route.

      • creech

I heard that Dutch Reformed Church probably qualifies, as would some extreme Christian Scientists. But, again, why should sincere belief in a supreme being telling you not to get the jab be any more exempt worthy than a sincerely held belief that you won’t participate in medical experiments? Chicomvirus-19 doesn’t give a good crap about your beliefs. Nor, if the virus is so damned dangerous like the mandaters say, why are unclean religious objectors allowed to infect everyone?

      • rhywun

That is why I agree with trashy that religious objections will simply be ignored. That way they don’t have to split those hairs. They can simply shove aside everyone’s morals and ethics. Equity!

      • Cannoli

Oddly, at my company I’m hearing that lots of people have already had religious exemptions approved, but no so far no medical exemptions. My request (based on your template) is still processing. I wonder if the reason I haven’t heard back yet even though other people have is because I told them I also wasn’t going to do weekly testing.

Yes. All those news articles about “Only X% of the people who threatened to quit actually did. A few hundred malcontents won’t be missed.” are written by people too dumb to see what effect it will have at the margin.

  17. The Late P Brooks

    Fingers were pointed

Political expert Larry Sabato pointed to President Joe Biden’s low ratings as the primary reason that Glenn Youngkin flipped the Virginia governorship to Republican control.

“My take is that the key factor was, in fact, President Biden’s low ratings,” said Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics. “You can’t avoid it. I can’t see how anyone can deny that…That’s what it’s about, it’s not just about his agenda.”

    Wait, what?

Whose name was on the ballot, again? McAuliffe is a shit gobbling weasel of he highest order. He lost that election on his own (de)merits, I’d say. The guy’s a loathesome sleazeball who’d sell his own grandmother to he organ bank for five bucks.

    • cyto

Biden says he lost because the Democrats have not gotten enough of his agenda passed. (Implying that his unpopularity is because they have not implemented enough of his agenda)

      • creech

Well, maybe. How popular was Santa Claus the year you asked him for an electric train set and all you got was wool socks?

  18. The Late P Brooks

When asked about Democrats’ upset in the commonwealth, Biden said the defeat showed that his party needs to pass some of his agenda before midterms.

“People want us to get things done,” Biden said. “They want us to get things done. And that’s why I’m continuing to push very hard for the Democratic Party to move along and pass my infrastructure bill and my Build Back Better bill.”

    Keep telling yourself that.

    This made the news tonight

    https://youtu.be/jSBkv1ytaEE

I hate everyone involved in this fight. The obvious idiots who filmed themselves going into the business and ending up in what will be an open and shut battery case. The jackass hypocrite who has a sign out front calling non-maskers “maskholes” and previously blamed the summer covid wave on the un vaxxed. I go by there frequently and unless there’s a customer in the shop, she usually has her mask off because it’s not convenient. If she was so concerned about others and believes so strongly that masks work, then why would she fill up her store with her exhaled aerosols? Because she just believes in using it as a cudgel against the wrong types. Also note the “No Justice No Peace” sign she put up after the Floyd riots.

The Rittenhouse trial came up in my feed a few minutes ago. Apparently the internet pundit community thinks the defense team is terrible. They seem to think that they are so bad at handling a trial that he is in danger of being convicted, despite having a slam dunk of a case.

KK, one more thing to keep in mind about Cheyenne is that there is a USAF base there – so some opportunity for that type of work if necessary.

I’m looking more at “middle of nowhere” land packages closer to Rawlins or Greybull, but I plan to try and start working with a realtor to narrow things down next year.

  22. The Late P Brooks

Maybe we’re starting to get somewhere

The American Psychological Association is seeking to make amends for past wrongs.

The APA, an organization that has been around since the late 1800s, issued a lengthy statement on Friday apologizing not only for the APA’s role in perpetuating systemic racism, but for the role psychology, as a field of study, has also played in systemically harming people of color for decades.

The organization’s Council of Representatives unanimously voted to adopt a resolution that, among other things, apologizes for engaging in “racism, racial discrimination, and denigration” of communities of color; as a result, they failed in their mission to better the lives of others, they admitted.

“APA is profoundly sorry, accepts responsibility for, and owns the actions and inactions of APA itself, the discipline of psychology, and individual psychologists who stood as leaders for the organization and field,” the resolution reads.

Will they livestream the ritual suicides en masse?

    • Chafed

  23. The Late P Brooks

KK, one more thing to keep in mind about Cheyenne is that there is a USAF base there – so some opportunity for that type of work if necessary.

PJ Media is bought and sold, National review is a joke, Insty with that driscoll creature has become in tolerable. I guesss I’ll get my news from the Glibs,

  25. The Late P Brooks

“In offering an apology for these harms, APA acknowledges that recognition and apology only ring true when accompanied by action; by not only bringing awareness of the past into the present but in acting to ensure reconciliation, repair, and renewal,” the resolution reads. “We stand committed to purposeful intervention, and to ensuring that APA, the field of psychology, and individual psychologists are leaders in both benefiting society and improving lives.”

    Prove you’re sincere. Kill yourselves.

  26. The Late P Brooks

The APA also passed two more resolutions on Friday: one describes the work the APA and the field of psychology must to dismantle racism in society, while the other announces their commitment to combating inequality in health.

    Favorite planes to fly
Airbus A320Neo (modded version) I actually feel I would be able to get in a seat and fly a normal flight with no problems as long as nothing happens in the flight that requires me to deal with a failure. It is so damn automated.
CRJ4 is a zippy plane that is fun.

Just now getting into how to startup/prepare from dark the CRJ550/700s.

It is odd: the employer has a “maximum telework” policy in place, totally the opposite of what it should be.

My boss is trying to transition people gently into coming back every day, so he’s coming in every other day. I’m liking starting at home for an hour, hitting the road and doing the office for several hours, then returning home and hitting another hour or two.

I feel like I’ve let myself down but especially the ones here that are fighting the good fight. My circumstances are pretty grim. I care about my clients and truth to tell I’d probably be dead in a year or two if I had no reason to get up every day. I tried.

If you hadn’t been dressed so ;provocatively when you walked through that dark alley…

    Betrayal of a sacred trust

In text exchanges with NPR for this story, Carlson accused the mainstream media of lying in concert with Democrats, saying his reporting showed there was no insurrection. And he pointed to coverage by NPR and other outlets in the immediate aftermath of the siege, as details were still emerging, to argue that the mainstream media intentional exaggerated the deadliness of the rioters.

His series builds on rhetoric and interviews he has conducted on his show for months, accepting wholesale as true claims made by some of his past guests to fold them into a more sweeping narrative.

“They’ve begun to fight a new enemy in a new war on terror,” Carlson warned his viewers in the first episode. “Not, you should understand, a metaphorical war, but an actual war, soldiers and paramilitary agencies hunting down American citizens.”

Carlson is seeking to exonerate those Trump supporters accused of participating in the sacking of the U.S. Capitol. He calls them trespassers, at worst, and says the media has been lying about their acts and motivations.

Carlson uses real developments as springboards to groundless and sometimes disproven conclusions, against a backdrop of ominous music and incendiary footage. President Biden’s administration has argued that domestic white supremacists pose a greater terrorist threat inside the U.S. than ISIS or Al Qaida. But his officials haven’t said they intend to hold them in Guantanamo Bay-like conditions or torture them as National Guards did to Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib, though both were visually invoked by the documentary.

Take it from NPR. Tucker Carlson and FOX news don’t deserve to be called journalists. Totally illegitimate.
