    OT: (As challenged yesterday) https://www.rt.com/news/547551-police-warned-bmw-explode-speed-limits/

Police using BMW models with an N57 engine have been ordered not to exceed 90 mph (144 kph) even while responding to emergency calls and during high-speed car chases, media outlets reported. Officers have also been prohibited from going more than 20 mph (32 kph) over the speed limit on any road.

The official guidance follows the death of officer Nick Dumphreys, whose engine burst into flames when he was responding to an emergency call in January 2020.

If you’ve ever seen a car catch fire from the engine compartment, you’ll know how terrifyingly fast a fire can spread in a car. I once saw a car go up in flames, with the passenger compartment completely engulfed within 20 seconds or so of the first indication of fire under the hood.

I have a puzzle for ya:

    Square this…

Joe Biden’s Department of Justice has said that a man who killed someone during the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020 should get a lesser sentence because he was “caught up in the fury” when he burned down a pawn shop. …

Montez Terriel Lee Jr. broke into a Minnesota pawnshop, poured gasoline, and lit it on fire on June 5, 2020.

A 30-year-old man, Oscar Lee Stewart, was found dead in the rubble over two months later.

    …with this.

A federal judge has ordered Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes to remain jailed through his trial.
The judge also ruled that Rhodes can testify before Congress under a House select committee subpoena.

On Wednesday, Magistrate Judge Kimberly C. Priest Johnson of the Eastern District of Texas sided with the prosecution, who claimed that Rhodes was too “dangerous” to be released before his trial.

“It is the totality of the evidence showing Defendant’s leadership and strategic involvement in and advocacy for armed and violent actions against the federal government, combined with Defendant’s preparedness and ready access to weapons sufficient to carry out such violent activities, that presents a significant risk of harm to others,” the judge wrote in her opinion.

It’s like Johnson never saw Passenger 57 or any other movie. Rhodes will clearly use the hearings to escape.

Snark aside, that is total bullshit to force Rhodes to testify while incarcerated and facing criminal charges for the very same actions. It’s a miscarriage of justice and abuse of power (which pretty much all of the 1/6 riots are).

Ive had Fox news on for a few hours. The vaccine narrative is crumbling, the vaccinated are most of the new deaths and hospitalizations around the world. The vaccine is like an omicron magnet, and Sweden just decided against giving the vax to kids. Nothing about any of this. Where is everyone who hasnt been forced to substack?

      • Swiss Servator

“according to the data they’re sharing”

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Given that vaccine efficacy in Denmark and Israel has dropped below zero for Omicron, I’m suspicious of any claim that a treatment which makes it more likely for you to catch it, also lessens symptoms.

      • Urthona

Israel’s data does show exactly that though. It shows their unvaccinated being hospitalized at 10x the rate. Are we to believe only part of their data?

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

I don’t have an explanation other than to say it doesn’t make sense. What’s the mechanism of action that creates that scenario?

      • Urthona

No clue, and that’s an interesting point.

Nevertheless, do you think every first world country on Earth is faking their statistics? They all show this that I’ve seen. Even people places attempting to show vaccinated hospitalizations outpace unvaccinated (Scotland, Denmark, the U.K) still have a much higher RATE of hospitalization among the unvaccinated.

One possibility: people who don’t get vaccinated simply have shorter lifespans because they are not as risk averse. Nevertheless, the data doesn’t seem to confirm this demographic is less likely to get vaccinated.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Those who received the third, booster dose of the vaccine still remained better protected against serious COVID symptoms, Health Ministry data showed, adding that Israelis over the age of 60 were 85% boosted, while Israelis over 60 who were hospitalized in serious condition were only 60% boosted.

Calling that an improvement is a stretch. Three shots of an experimental treatment with side effects to get a 30% improvement in hospitalization rate?

Therapeutic protocols administered early are showing a minimum of 70% improvement in hospitalization rates.

And that’s the issue to me. The reliance on very experimental treatments might be an acceptable risk if there were no other options. But we do have options, and they’re very good and very cheap.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

The second question is what is the population that makes up the unvaccinated population?

Were they too ill to even take a vaccine or were they healthy?

There’s a horde of ways to cut the numbers and the authorities are definitely willing to play around with them to get the results they want to show to the extent possible.

A common one is to exclude anyone who is vaccinated, but within two weeks of the last shot, from the vaccinated pool. Given that the mRNA shots are known to suppress immune response in that period, it makes you more likely to catch the disease and shifts cases from vaccinated to unvaccinated.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

I guess my first question is “What constitutes vaccinated?”

Do they count people with two shots or do they require three or even four for it to apply?

I’m looking for an answer now.

      • R C Dean

it still decreases hospitalization and death by like 4x

The data is such a steaming pile of flaming dumpsters its impossible to know. Death “by” COVID or “with” COVID? Hospitalized “because of” COVID, or hospitalized “with incidental” COVID? “Vaccinated”, as in got a shot, or “fully vaccinated”, as in got your second shot more than two weeks ago? The data doesn’t separate it out, and you can’t reach any conclusions without filtering out the deaths with COVID and the hospitalizations with incidental COVID. ”

And that’s before you get into the cherry-picked measurement periods.

  32. Aloysious

The Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus announced Tuesday that it will close for 10 days so it can take a break from customers who have been resisting its mask requirements.

The museum won’t accept visitors from Jan. 26 through Feb. 4, the statement said, “so that we can support our staff and bolster our policies with the hope of preventing this type of behavior in the future.”

In an emailed statement, president and CEO Michael Yankovich said the museum cannot publicly disclose details about the incidents leading to the closure, but he called them “demoralizing” and said they have become increasingly intense and frequent. He added that specifics about updates to the museum’s policies will be posted on its website before it reopens.

    Not demoralized enough.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

Closing for ten days for morale?

      Just fire them all.

    • R C Dean

Naturally, increases in the frequency and intensity of conflict between the public and staff enforcing the museum’s policies can only be addressed by excluding the public.

Certainly not by changing the policies. Other, of course, than to “bolster” them by making them more draconian

    • mexican sharpshooter

I took my kids there a few times while I lived in CO. Fun place where you can catch something significantly worse than COVID.

      Like pink eye.

    • Raven Nation

Assuming the story I just read and grizzly’s quote are being correctly reported, I’m on the fence on this one. Yes, masking makes little difference. Current Denver rules require face coverings indoors. Yelling or otherwise getting angry at employees seems inappropriate.

      • R C Dean

OTOH, what are your options? Submit (a win for the lockdowners)? Stay home (also a win for the lockdowners)? Demand to talk to the manager? OK, Karen, but whoever actually sets policy isn’t going to talk to you, not unless you are connected. Middle management is no more responsible for the policy than frontline employees.

      • Sensei

I will crap on middle management and higher. That’s what they (and I) are paid for.

Having been a frontline employee – I won’t do it. These are people with far less options than I have been blessed with.

      • Raven Nation

Yeah, there are no good options. But getting angry with someone selling tickets (or, like last year, some 16 yo cashier at the grocery store) ain’t helping either.

      • grrizzly

What is appropriate? I personally don’t go to any museums or events that require masking. But I’m glad that others make the lives of the mask mandate enforcers uncomfortable. The enforcers are not innocent victims. They are accomplices. There’s nothing natural about wearing a face mask, let alone demanding others to wear one.

What? With all these supply chain issues they keep telling us about, I demand truckers ignore speed limits, traffic lights, stop signs, school zones and weigh stations!

    • Ownbestenemy

Hopefully States took notice of the CMS ruling and then read “Over the next two years, he said, his department will provide guidance as well as $5 billion in grants to states to spur lower speed limits and embrace safer road design such as dedicated bike and bus lanes, better lighting and crosswalks.” They will give a big NOPE to that money. Otherwise, enjoy being the bottom basic bitch of the Federal Government.

      • R C Dean

The States are pretty much truckstop whores when it comes to federal money – they will do anything for it, no matter how small the amount.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

        The endrun around the Constitution.

Yes I know they are. Can a man at least hope?

      • hayeksplosives

I can’t imagine driving though rural Nevada (highways) at less than 75 mph.

These dickheads are using our federal tax money to bribe states to limit our rights.

Fuck the turn-of-the-century “Progressives” and their federal income tax, popular election of Senators, Prohibition, and other BS.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

I just told the county that I intend to contest the school bus passing violation I got.

They adopted a video system that automates the ticketing. When the STOP sign comes out it starts taking video and they changed the law so that you have to stop even on the other side of a divided highway.

I was approaching the bus in a 45mph zone that was four lanes over going the other way and it put out the sign so I slowed down. The bus pulled the sign in so I sped back up and didn’t notice the bus moved about fifteen feet and put it out again. I saw it as I passed and cursed, knwing I was going to get $250 fine.

The whole thing has been a fundraising racket. I know two people who have gotten tickets as they went by a line of busses waiting to pick up kids at a school and one bus put out its sign and started collecting money.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Of course, they make it really easy to pay the violation but completely non-obvious as to how you can contest it in court.

      • Ownbestenemy

I know it takes time out of our days, but the only way things like this get crushed is if people contest and clog the courts. Stop just paying the fine.

      • Sean

On the other side of a divided highway? I didn’t realize that was a thing.

Also, I find it odd they have kids standing on the side of a highway.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Two lanes each way with a turn lane in the middle. 45mph.

No kid is ever crossing that road but you’re required to stop because it increases the revenue stream.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

It’s also easier to just ticket everybody the camera picks up instead of having to discriminate whether the law applies or not.

      • Sean

That’s not how I define “divided”. A turn lane is not a divider. 🙂

      • Not Adahn

        Not in OK it isn’t.

      • robodruid

        Ok as in “Ada”?

      • Ownbestenemy

The cameras are for the children’s safety as they drop them off on major busy streets without thinking about what is possibly wrong with that logic.

      • R C Dean

        Speaking of stupid driving tricks:

I was driving home earlier this week along a road that is curved. Moderate traffic., two lanes on each side. I was in the right lange, and a firetruck comes up behind me; because of the curve, not a lot of notice. I start to slow down and pull over as far as I can. The twat in front of me SLAMS on his brakes and comes to a screeching stop, forcing me to do the same. I was sure I was going to get rearended – I didn’t miss him by much, and wound up not being able to pull over much at all. Of course, the firetruck had a clear lane the whole time, and goes sailing past.

And the twat flips me off.

That is all. Scruffy’s story just brought it back to mind.

      • Ted S.

The earth is a sphere, so technically every road is curved.

        /ducking

Some of that stuff makes sense in some places.

But if it made sense everywhere they wouldn’t have to create new Soviet man to enforce it, would they.

    • Gustave Lytton

Fuck that piece of weasel faced shit. Local city did a bunch of that. Lane theft, light desynchronization, general asshole behavior. And the fuckfaces that did it are immune from any kind of feedbacks hen they should be flayed alive M-F 8am-5pm outside of the municipal building as warning to the rest.

I have two employees that are looking to leave. One, my specialist, wants to get back to Texas with his family and because they are at least trying to get rid of COVID nonsense. The other is salty cause he lost out to the position I ultimately got and he can’t sit at home cowering in fear of COVID while he travels all over the place.

    • R C Dean

I see that $250 in pennies weighs 137 pounds, if that becomes necessary.

ZOMG! Some of those are illegal under the NYSAFE act!

And is that a 92 Inox in the upper left corner?

I wonder how you pick which guns to smuggle? Do you buy the cheapest and maximize the profit? Do certain guns command a premium on the black market?

      • EvilSheldon

I’ve always assumed that the life of an illegal arms dealer is exactly as portrayed in Jackie Brown.

A since-closed GoFundMe page called “Bring Shakor Home” was created for him on Dec. 27, raising almost $300.

      That’s gotta sting a little.

Good for him selling loaded guns. I hate the whole “batteries not included” nonsense. I mean, I need to go bust a cap NAO!

    https://www.theblaze.com/op-ed/horowitz-whistleblowers-share-dod-medical-data-that-blows-vaccine-safety-debate-wide-open

Here’s a little more info about Atty Tom Renz and the military doctor whistleblower hearing that Sen. Ron Johnson held. Three doctors have gone on the record based upon a series of queries they did to the DoD’s medical coding system.

On Monday, during Sen. Ron Johnson’s five-hour hearing on a “COVID-19: Second Opinion,” Ohio attorney Thomas Renz, who has been representing clients suing the vaccine mandates, presented DOD medical billing data from the Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) that paints a shockingly disturbing picture of the health of our service members in 2021.

According to the military, DMED is the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch’s (AFHSB) “web-based tool to remotely query de-identified active component personnel and medical event data contained within the Defense Medical Surveillance System (DMSS).” In other words, it contains every ICD medical billing code for any medical diagnosis in the military submitted for medical insurance billing during any given period of time. Three military doctors have presented queried data to Renz that shows a shocking and sudden spike in nearly every ICD code for common vaccine injuries in 2021.

And now for consistent link readers, you can begin to surmise why the FDA/CDC are trying to slow-roll the release of all of those documents that were ordered by the judge in the FOIA lawsuit. When the Truth all finally comes out, people are not going to be happy.

Aside from the spike in miscarriage diagnoses (ICD code O03 for spontaneous abortions), there was an almost 300% increase in cancer diagnoses (from a five-year average of 38,700 per year to 114,645 in the first 11 months of 2021). There was also a 1,000% increase in diagnosis codes for neurological issues, which increased from a baseline average of 82,000 to 863,000!

Some other numbers he did not mention at the hearing but gave to me in the interview are the following:

    myocardial infarction –269% increase
    Bell’s palsy – 291% increase
congenital malformations (for children of military personnel) – 156% increase
    female infertility – 471% increase
    pulmonary embolisms – 467% increase

All these numbers are among the ambulatory visits because those are where the vast number of diagnoses in the military occur. However, Renz did say the increases were indicated in the hospitalized patients as well. I have seen one of the sworn declarations from one of the military doctors, and it states as follows, “It is my professional opinion that the major increases incidences of the above discussed instances of miscarriages, cancers, and disease were due to COVID-19 ‘vaccinations.'”

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

This is huge because they can’t handwave it away like they do with VAERS.

      • Ted S.

        They can just bury it.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

They can try. Imagine what this is doing to morale.

They thought they had a problem with “insurrectionist” soldiers before?

      • Swiss Servator

Easier to suppress this – DoD will hide everything they can.

“Medical information and readiness is classified.”

      • Sensei

I’m fully supportive of Ozy and I still thin VAERS is a pile. This, OTH, makes me believe the validity much more.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

The issue with VAERS is not that they get fake submissions, that’s going to happen. It’s that the FDA has been completely ignoring it. They refuse to follow up on anything.

They still haven’t answered any questions on Maddie de Garay. They just pretend she doesn’t exist when she is prima facie evidence of fraud on the part of Pfizer.

      • robc

VAERS is crap. The noise is high. But there is enough signal to warrant looking deeper into it.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

Renz claims he has a video with two witnesses showing the entire process of downloading this data from the database and is prepared to present it in court. He also told me that this is just “the tip of the iceberg,” as the codes have increased exponentially in numerous other diagnosis categories. Renz said his spreadsheet, which includes over 100 medical diagnosis categories, was shared with Senator Johnson and his staff before the Monday hearing.

Oh that’s going to piss off some people.
