Glibertarians Anniversary 2022 Animated Celebration

by | Feb 12, 2022 | Hat and Hair | 296 comments

Looking back, it is hard to tell what is the actual anniversary of Glibertarians.com. Swiss posted a 1 year Anniversary post on Feb 12. The next year I posted a cartoon on the 13th. According to the archive the first post went live on the 17th. I’m not good at math, but something seems off there. Anyway, I went out and did something special for this year. Enjoy the cartoon. Cheers! Another year another mound of gold

  2. Old Man With Candy

You got his voice down perfectly.

    • Count Potato

My condolences to you and SP on your loss.

    • DEG

Sorry about Wonder Dog. I missed morning links and just saw the news now.

  3. hayeksplosives

    Nice.

At first I thought it was Dan Snyder and was waiting for the Washington Commanders tie-in.

    • Trigger Hippie

      The Commies, the Commies.

    • Count Potato

To think it took over a year to come up with a name that bad.

      • UnCivilServant

Should have been the redskins, with a potato in a feather headdress.

      • hayeksplosives

They really missed an opportunity when they didn’t take the chance to become the Washington Engines, complete with diesel V8 logo.

It would have been an epic troll.

  4. Penguin

    Good job, CPRM!

  5. Zwak, holding the spinal column of JFK wrapped in Marilyn Monroes neglegie

    Niiiiice…

  6. westernsloper

Who the fuck is Dana Snyder?

    • rhywun

      Beats me.

    • Penguin

He’s the voice actor who played ‘Master Shake’ on Aqua Teen Hunger Force, a Cartoon Network show.

    • Bobarian LMD

[His] name is… Shake Zula, the mic rulah, the old schoolah You wanna trip, I’ll bring it to ya

    • westernsloper

      ?

    • DEG

I guess I missed some news today. I know police were breaking up the Ambassador Bridge blockade. Something else happen?

      • MikeS

        Fucking. Assholes.

      • DEG

        Fuck.

      • Trigger Hippie

        Of course.

      • Brochettaward

I legit needs infos here. I need someone to enact my labor.

So not only did they crackdown on the protests, but Twitter is suspending people for posting video of it?

      • Mojeaux

Yes. Gord was on Fox News and he’s been really the face of the thing, so Twitter suspended him.

      • Brochettaward

Has Twitter given even the pretense of an explanation?

      • Mojeaux

Breaking rules, but they never say which ones or how, and they define/interpret them very loosely.

      • Count Potato

They suspended people for posting videos of January 6 too.

Plenty of suspension notices are form letters with the reason left blank.

  7. Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

    Bravo!

  8. Trigger Hippie

    *standing ovation*

    My favorite episode this year.

  9. Count Potato

    Congrats! Bravo!

  10. Tulip

    That was awesome CPRM!

  11. Ghostpatzer

    Onward! Nice job, CPRM.

  12. Tundra

    You are fucking awesome!

Thanks for all the laughs, brother.

  13. Gender Traitor

    A magnificent tribute! Well done!

Too bad that other site went under. (Not really. Not really too bad, I mean.)

    • Don escaped Texas

      if you have the passcode?

      • westernsloper

There was a passcode? I do not know how to open a zoom.

  14. Tonio

Thanks, CPRM. Today is indeed the canonical anniversary of Glibertarians dot com.

    • Trigger Hippie

Five years. After lurking at TOS around the beginning of Obama’s second term I finally mustered up the courage to submit a comment in the Spring of either 14/15. I forget. Soon after I went ballistic on somebody who’s handle linked to NAMBLA’s website because I had recently found out a young relative had been abused. The easy mark that I was, one of TPTB(take a wild guess…ha!) trolled me pretty hard. I was outraged, offended, ready to spit in disgust and abandon the Commentariat altogether.

Then I slowly got the point.

Thanks to all of you who have patiently endured my myopic, stoned, often drunken comments for all these years. I feel blessed to be a small part of a community comprised of so many intelligent, well spoken, accomplished, successful, and good hearted people.

      • westernsloper

You are beloved TH and don’t you forget that. Your comment reminded me I have a ………………It is 420 somewhere.

      • westernsloper

        *cough cough*

      • Ted S.

Kindly turn your head when you cough.

      • MikeS

Next you’ll ask him to drop trau’ and put two fingers close to his balls.

      • Bobarian LMD

This is why Joanie loved Chachi.

      • Trigger Hippie

        I love you too, brother.

*Lights up a bowl of Clementine*

My favorite strain is back in town. Small blessings are still blessings.

      • Tonio

        Fuck off, Tulpa.

      • hayeksplosives

        Perfect. ?

      • Trigger Hippie

        Ha!

      • DEG

It’s good to have you around.

I lurked on H&R probably since it started. I didn’t start posting until after J sub D died. I thought to myself, “You’ve enjoyed reading these folks writing, maybe you should interact with them before more die?”

        RIP J sub D.

      • pistoffnick the refusnik

RIP J sub D. He was a good egg. He also posted at Grylliade.org, which is where I was after TOS went nucking futs, and before I made my way here.

I had many good discussions with him (not realizing he was homeless and interacting on public library feeds).

Dudes and Dames, if you are struggling, just ask for help! We CAN help!

      • pistoffnick the refusnik

I know asking for help was not J sub D’s way, but…ask for help.

      • Swiss Servator

        *pours one out for JsubD*

      • Brochettaward

It’s ok. You don’t have to thank me for getting to bask in the glory of my Firsts. I do it because it’s what I was born to do. You and the Glibertariat don’t deserve me, but you get me, anyway.

    • Chafed

I guess their mirror is broken.

The world is about to shrug its shoulders, I can feel it. Canadian veterans are forming a line between cops and protesters, Ukraine is getting shoved into a war, the US is definitely on decline and Long Ski jumpers are avoiding radioactive isotopes.

I will host the GlibZoom Happy Hour, Aquatic Rodent Taxonomy Lesson, Shiny Tranquilized People thingy at 20:00 Eastern.

    • westernsloper

If I was not a dumb ass I would host the pre glib zoom right now. I have too many zoom accounts. The nipple piercing club ruined my computer.

    • Animal

      Aquatic Rodent Taxonomy Lesson

This discussion will begin with the taxonomic relationship between the Aplodontidae, which are of course part of a clade deriving from the Sciuromorpha, and the Castoridae, which are part of the Suborder Castoromorpha.

      • Ghostpatzer

Flaunting your animal privilege, I see.

      • Animal

If you got a horse, you ride it.

      • Tonio

        Heh, heh-heh, he said Castoridae.

      • Animal

Les castors sont là où vous les trouvez.

    • Mojeaux

      Aquatic Rodent Taxonomy Lesson

      Sealions are rodents?

      • Tonio

“Aquatic rodent” is a quote from The Big Lebowski (PBUH). “The Dude” (Bridges) misidentifies the ferret as a marmot.

      • Mojeaux

        I’m 0-2 on today’s “name that reference.”

      • Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

That’s just, like, your opinion, man.

    • rhywun

        WOLVERINES!

    • Ownbestenemy

      Huh…just out your way then.

      • hayeksplosives

Yeah, VEA.coop shows it’s just southeast Pahrump, where I live. 1200 customers affected. Status: “Crew assigned”

So i called my husband who was on his way back from UPS and asked him to pick me up. We are at the local watering hole, which also has no power. But they have gravity and liquid, so they are open for business!! They grabbed 2 liter bottles of coke from the attached gas station so the rum and cokes are flowing. I’m drinking wine.

The locals here said the outage was caused by a car wreck in which three (3!!!) power poles were struck.

        Congratulations on the grandchild!!

      • Ownbestenemy

        Grand niece but thank you!

      • C. Anacreon

You could sing a little song to pass the time, to the tune of “The Campbells Are Coming, hurrah, hurrah”:

The power is out here, Pahrump, Pahrump,
The power is out here, Pahrump, Pahrump….

    • Yusef drives a Kia

Can you use the Tesla batts for Emergency power?
      /Seriously

      • hayeksplosives

Sadly no. The cybertruck will be the first model with two-way power flow. Musk had to do some regulatory battle to get even that approved.

My Tesla can power small loads over usb, such as cell phones.

      • Tundra

The new F-150s have a 7200W generator option. I may actually look at that when it’s time to replace mine.

      • Count Potato

There are aftermarket PTO generators for Ford trucks too.

      • MikeS

        PTO? Where do they attach?

      • Count Potato

A power take off is usually run off the flywheel.

      • MikeS

Huh? Not the PTOs I’m used to.

      • MikeS

        *duck duck go*

Huh. So there’s a PTO interface on certain Ford transmissions. Cool idea. I didn’t know this was a thing. Very cool. I suppose it’s been around for ever on commercial vehicles and I just never thought about it.

      • MikeS

It just hit me…I’ve driven plenty of grain trucks. To lift the box you had to pull a PTO lever. I guess it’s always been around. Just never thought about it.

      • Don escaped Texas

I urge flexibility. You can buy 7kva for less than $1000 that can be used anywhere and, if you decide, tossed in the back of the truck.

all things being equal, opt for the flexible purchases in life: portable, changeable, and fungible/liquid

    • Count Potato

At least you still have internet.

      • hayeksplosives

This is actually very important and has saved many lives in bad situations.

Cell phones are like the Gutenberg press: can be used for great good and great evil.

    • Ted S.

We lost power for 32 hours in the ice storm last weekend. It finally came back on last Saturday around 1:30 PM.

Then we lost power again around lunchtime on Monday. Didn’t realize until the wee hours of Tuesday that we were the only ones to have lost power, what with being at the end of a dead-end street and having a 1000-foot driveway.

It turned out that a tree fell on one of the poles, shorting out (probably not the correct term) the transformer. And since it’s a customer-owned pole, the utility said they weren’t allowed to assume the liability of removing the tree (unlike the utility-owned poles). So an emergency call to a tree service, and then another long wait to get the utility to come back out. We finally got power back at 10:00 AM Wednesday.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Jeez, sorry about that one, this isn’t the time of year to lose power that long,

    • pistoffnick the refusnik

Power went out at the house.

Dual (or tri-) fuel generator with an automatic transfer switch.

    • Trigger Hippie

Sorry to hear that. If you have a fireplace, split wood logs, and a few layers of blankets you and the hubby could not only survive but make it a romantic evening. Two pair bonded people working together for at the very least maintaining comfort, If not outright survival, can be a positive experience. Embrace the struggle.

/this message is brought to by a person incapable of maintaining a meaningful relationship with another human being….many grains of salt.

The fuckin Canadians are ending the pandemic. And it didn’t take much. A week of shenagans and even the school district here ended everything. The science changed in a week. God bless the Canadian truckers. They are changing the world.

      • Tundra

        Amen. It’s amazing.

      • Fourscore

Looks/sounds more like a rock concert. I hope we never have to go to war against the Canadians, they are all dressed up in heavy clothes and go outside to sing and dance.

USA to the unvaxxed Americans in Ukraine: no escape for you.

Message to U.S. Citizens: Poland/Ukraine Border Open to U.S. Citizens

Poland has indicated to the U.S. government that U.S. citizens may now enter Poland through the land border with Ukraine. No advanced approval is required. We encourage those traveling into Poland by land from Ukraine to cross at the Korczowa-Krakovets or Medyka-Shehyni border crossings. U.S. citizens must present a valid U.S. passport and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Travelers are also encouraged to present a negative test result from a PCR or antigen COVID-19 test, which will facilitate entry into Poland.

    • Ownbestenemy

But welcome all to the States, no visa or covid test ot passport required.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

        Only if from the South,

    • PutridMeat

Polish rule or US? Presumably Polish since I don’t think you need a clot-shot to re-enter from abroad.

      • R C Dean

Why would the Poles want to bar the unvaxxed from leaving?

      • R C Dean

Never mind. It’s Ukraine that’s being invaded today, not Poland.

I blame the booze. And the pot. And the lack of adult supervision.

    • rhywun

      Go fuck yourselfski.

    • MikeS

      Fuck you, Poland.

    • R C Dean

Turns out the Poles require either a vax card or a negative test. Which, though it sucks donkey dong, is pretty standard, although how easy it will be to get either in Ukraine now is an open question.

The State Dept. either fucked up or is lying. With those clowns, its a tossup.

    • DEG

That’s a change. US Citizens and those coming into the country on an immigration visa didn’t need proof of vaccination.

      • grrizzly

You need covid vaccination for the medical exam necessary to get an immigrant visa.

        https://www.uscis.gov/i-693

But those lucky to have the medical exam done already don’t need vaccination.

      • Fourscore

Can’t they just say they are new immigrants, 1st day arrivals.

Seems to work in the good ol’ USA

      • DEG

Fuck. That was an option for my friend in Vienna. She has relatives in Florida that are citizens and close enough related to sponsor her for citizenship. Shit.

  26. MikeS

OMG!!!! Master Shake! Did he see my avatar?!?!?!?!?

    • Count Potato

I forgot where that was from. I just remember the Boston scare.

Is the ATHF movie any good? I’ve only seen the TV show.

      • MikeS

I am slightly embarrassed to say I haven’t seen the movie. “Life” got in the way when it came out and then I just kind of forgot about it. I’ll have to see I can find it on Amazon or Netfilx or something.

      • DEG

I saw it. I saw it after the Moonite panic-scare in Boston. Had I had enough time with work, I would have headed into Boston to see it because fuck Boston and their panic-mongering over glorified Light-Brites. Instead I saw it in Manchester, NH.

I walked out of the theater thinking, “That was fucked.”

Telling people that you’ve had the Covid vaccine, new figures show

I tapped out at the headline.

      • commodious spittoon

A buddy texted me yesterday, after we’d been hanging out, that he’d just tested positive for covid. I joked back that it used to be you’d have to tell a chick you’ve got chlamydia or whatever, and how the 2020s are fucking lame.

I’m hoping for a raging, untreatable strain of herpes to tear through these vaxx-obsessed weirdos swapping loads but super concerned with covid.

  32. commodious spittoon

Cute aggression. It describes something I’m guessing we all experience. I noticed myself doing it early while I was masturbating.

Anyone else starting to just… doubt… psychological and sociological research? Not to mention epidemiological science… everything seems dubious now. I don’t know if I’m being paranoid or if it really is necessary to start pruning probably legitimate science from more recent “science” contaminated by socjus ideology or even simply lazy methodologies conducted by subpar researchers. The way the DSM is being monkeyed around with was a major red pill moment for me.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

I have been lied to by so many people from so many sources for so long that I cannot believe anything that anyone says from any source.

I try to believe what I hear from Glibertarians but, fuck, I can’t even trust the dog anymore.

Happy anniversary, Glibs, and thanks, CPRM, for the vid.

BTW, the voices in my head told me to send this post.

      • MikeS

        You can probably trust me.

      • The Bearded Hobbit

Can I subscribe to your newsletter?

      • MikeS

        Yes. I will invoice you.

      • commodious spittoon

If you take the socjus idpol Marxist message to its clear endpoint, nothing about these fields is worth preserving because it’s all borne of white supremacist colonial etc etc., and so how can any Marcusian-instructed activist worth xer salt wish to build upon the areas in which these fields have had success? And why even build with the tools their bigoted forefathers (!) used?

This year-zero mentality is rife in the college-indoctrinated activist class all over, why on earth should we trust the work done in these fields? If they truly believe that society must be fundamentally reconstructed, even if they’re grudgingly using the methodologies and subscribing to the existing paradigms… why wouldn’t they just lie? Fudge numbers, invalidate whole experiments, sabotage entire programs?

Why are we giving these Marxist-trained saboteurs any foothold?

      • The Bearded Hobbit

        And your newsletter as well?

      • The Bearded Hobbit

Seriously (or not), I’ve reached an age where I’m just watching the whole thing burn down and am using the fire to cook popcorn. I don’t ever see a happy ending to this whole enchilada. I just feel sorry for my kids. And for you kids.

      • commodious spittoon

If I thought they’d someday be saddled with the manifest failures of their efforts, I’d be happy. If I thought progressives would ever have to fess up to their horrendous failures among blacks, I would be ecstatic. Even just that. Just a massive, insuperable dunce cap placed over their collective heads, would be enough to see me through to the end of my life beaming.

But Woodrow Wilson is still a celebrated president. There’s no justice in history. It makes me wish I believed in an afterlife where he and his ideologues burn.

      • rhywun

Why are we giving these Marxist-trained saboteurs any foothold?

Propaganda works. Especially decades of it directed at a receptive audience.

But yes, it could not be clearer that the ones pulling these strings want to burn it all down.

      • Count Potato

Sad thing is that they aren’t even Marxist.

    • trshmnstr the terrible

Anyone else starting to just… doubt… psychological and sociological research?

My doubt started there. Add in public opinion polling and other non-experimental social research. Actually, to be accurate, it started with TMITE when I was in high school, and expanded to the social sciences about a decade ago.

Now, my doubt is expanding to just about everything tainted by grant money, federal contracting, and cultural conflict. I trust very little of anything that is thrust forward as “common knowledge” or “science”, and my doubt is starting to become retroactive.

To quote from an (embarrassingly disturbing) article of mine from 2018:

“I can’t know that something is the truth unless I’ve directly observed it. Everything else is built on some sort of social trust. It’s an assumption that people won’t collectively and casually lie to you about history and science and other things that you can’t and won’t verify.”

      • commodious spittoon

Their entire premise is that you cannot build upon the collective social consciousness of society as it is, because that society is built on slavery/colonialism/white supremacy/etc (their miserable concatenation of grievances) so why, why would anyone trust in the work product of people hired into these institutions?

      • commodious spittoon

We’ll need a reenlightenment. I don’t know what else to call it. We’re suffering through the progressive dark ages, and we’ll need to be reenlightened, when we rediscover all of the virtues that account for modernism.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

We need it, but short of some major changes in our culture, it won’t happen until the next depression.

      • Don escaped Texas

This is a constant thing. The masses go for all kinds of things, then pull back: red scares, UFO, ESP, shark movies, disco, shoulder pads. Some broker insists this is the NEW ECONOMY and the old rules don’t apply and then CRASH oops cash flow and return on assets do matter after all. Attack Asia, 30k die for nothing; wait 15 years; attack Asia again, 60k die for nothing; wait 35 years; attack Asia again again and 8k die for nothing. The Pope, the President, the Mayor are corrupt…it’s all stunning and shocking

except that it isn’t and never was. The masses are just terribly slow learners.

    • Zwak, holding the spinal column of JFK wrapped in Marilyn Monroes neglegie

Yeah, I hear you. I have an ex-girlfriend who is a clinical psychologist, and she has fallen completely into the “half the country are racist/Covid will kill my older husband/MMT is the way to go!” camp. Fuck, she has a PhD and this is what she thinks? She isn’t stupid, by any means, but she cannot seem to look at any info published by the people she claims we need to listen to. I see people on my wife’s zoom meetings wearing masks! By themselves! What, are they going to catch a computer virus? Fearmongering, it’s a thing.

And these are the people who are supposed to be leading us?

      • commodious spittoon

This is entirely my fear. The personal consequence of devaluing the meaning of that title? Consequential, maybe even terminal.

        The ideological consequence: total success.

They have ideological footsoldiers/suicide bombers who are going to reduce these positions and the institutions from which the graduate/for which they work to rubble.

Just so I understand this correctly, every time Izzard changes his mind in the future, someone (not me) will have to re-edit every pronoun in the article to reflect his current preferences? At what point does this become a farce? He’s a comedian; it wouldn’t surprise me if he did it on a whim and on a regular basis just for laughs. Unklscrufy (talk) 07:28, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
She is a comedian. Yes, she might change her mind, in which case yes, someone will change the article, taking all of two minutes to do so. Eddie doing it for laughs? Unlikely – she’s quite empathetic and her actions and words are in my experience not used to punch down. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 10:25, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Long freaking weekend. Eve shift Thurs. Drove down to NC by way of 5 hrs in Norfolk yesterday. Today, spent about 5 hrs at my Aunts retirement party (39 years veterinarian) at a nice brewery outside Fayetteville. Got a good buzz (party tab plus free BBQ) and since my folks were driving, one less hassle. Also bought a few more packs and a t-shirt. Nice local joint.

Course tomorrow I gotta hope the weather doesn’t get too messy (or clears up) before I head back to VA. Worst case scenario I could drive back Mon morning and make my shift but that would kinda suck.

  35. Spudalicious

    Excellent, CPRM! Thank you!

    • commodious spittoon

I hope they never do a Snow Crash adaptation. A half-black, half-Japanese protagonist (ha!), a teenage girl kinda-sidekick, a white supervillain, they’d still fuck it up and make it unbearably PC.

You joke, but I know a man who qualifies, former co-worker who still lives and works in the ABQ area.

His father was a GI in WWII and his mother lived in Nagasaki. According to him she said, “When the Americans started dropping leaflets we left before even reading them.”

Stephenson’s character Hiro is half-American Black, half-Korean, and all protagonist.

And to follow-up on my own comment:

        Indian?

A lot of this stuff….I’d just rather see in animated form than CGI. You can just get more artistic, action movement to capture the real elements from the writing than blandly copying it onto film. Ie. Mind Game, Red Line, Tekkon Kinkreet, Promare, other weeb stuff – Animatrix, etc.

Great song from a great album. I listened to this song the night after I changed out of command and it totally bummed me out and made thankful for what I had.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

I love “Telegraph Road” but there is one line that ruins it for me.

“I’ve got a right to go to work. . .”

No, you have a *need* to go to work. Right doesn’t come into it. No one is obligated to give you a job.

      • kinnath

You do have a right to go to work. The actions of the government the last two years to prevent people from working violate that right.

But that right doesn’t entitle you to any given job at any given wage. You can work for yourself and make what you can, but no one else has any obligation to hire you.

I’m watching Babylon 5 full series, how the EarthGov became corrupt and the station had to go rogue. Such great stories of moral and intellectual events. Love it.

And at night I typically listen to audiobooks to fall asleep. Tonight I queued up Mark Steyn’s “ America Alone, 2010. Holy crap—he is right on everything. Even predictts Corona virus.

I was thinking about going to the rally yesterday. Probably a good idea that I didn’t or I’d be sitting in a jail cell right now. Judi’s friend from work was just ahead of her in the honking caravan when some random counter-protester walked up and started kicking the shit out of her car. You can imagine what would have transpired if I were there. Apparently nobody did anything except record it. There is “Canadian Nice” and canadian nice. I subscribe to the latter. The people being assaulted were frail, old folks. I would have murdalized that fucker.

    • Tres Cool

I wouldn’t have dealt with that much better. If I was stuck in some protest-traffic and somebody fucked with my ride, even the POS Envoy Testarossa, there would be protester shit all over the front bumper.

Barry Manilow is okay. I don’t much like Twisted Sister, so I would have probably preferred to just sit and listen to Barry.

Good morning everyone, and goodnight Festus.

  48. CPRM

When I was looking around Cameo it was suggested that if you used the ‘Business’ option you could provide a script, so I had one where Dana’s character was The Hat’s dad. Then after I clicked through to purchase it only gave the option to put instructions in text limited space. So I just ‘instructed’, “It is the anniversary of Glibertarians dot com. You are a White top hat and very classy.”

I received a video that contains the audio here, which also had more instructions to contact him because he was confused and didn’t think he did a good job. So I used the information and contacted him with more information, including the script, an explanation of the site and a link to the cartoon character super cut. I never heard back. He no doubt contacted the authorities, and we are probably on another list.

    • limey

I was going say “well, some kinda lover he turned out to be”, but of course that was The Whispers, not Cameo.

Good morning, CP, U, homey, limey, and TARDy!

The heater in this lodge room isn’t particularly noisy, just… overenthusiastic, so I haven’t been able to sleep well. Those little hotel room coffee makers are truly a blessing.

    • UnCivilServant

Did you get out of the house for a while? Where’d you go?

      • Gender Traitor

Down to the state park lodge that’s just an hour away, in honor of TT’s birthday last week. Weather colder than we would have liked, but that’s February in OH. Lodge more occupied than we would have liked, so we were thwarted in our hopes of sitting by the lobby fireplace with good books on our Nooks. But the food is always good – had brisket last night that was like buttah! – and the staff is always friendly and helpful It’s just a nice place for a weekend getaway without having to drive for hours to get there.

      • Gender Traitor

Barely. When I first went shopping for an e-reader, I found out the local library’s e-books weren’t compatible with the Kindle format, so I went with the Nook. (Now, of course, they offer Kindle books.) We’ll see if the Nook becomes the Betamax of e-readers. ?

    • limey

I can sleep if I’m too cold, but I cannot sleep if I’m too hot.
