Yes Sir! You win a prize!
What do we have for him Larry!

    • Name's BEAM. James BEAM.

Nah, Bro’ll just take a page outta President Puddin’ Cup’s playbook and redefine what “First” actually means.

      • SDF-7

“If you’re not really obnoxious about it and make vague pregnancy or sexual allusions, experts consider it only a First to the layman. Real Firsters show up three hours later after all the comments have passed to preen with a shtick everyone got tired of within weeks, if not days….”

      • Chafed

        Lol

      • Compelled Speechless

I’m pretty sure he redefined first years ago. I have a theory that he comes from a small race of people called the Firsts that use their name in place of random words in their sentences much like the Smurfs. It’s the only way I’ve ever been able to make sense of all his talk of “firsting”.

      • Animal

        Marklar marklar marklar. Marklar marklar.

      • Zwak doesn't know what to ignite and what to extinguish

        So, President Broden?

    • Chafed

Yes. You are now the world’s tallest midget.

“An all-too-brief teaser trailer focuses on the vibrating uvula of a snoring young person, who is awakened by a dog licking their face.”

I misread this at first as the vibrating vulva of a snoring young person.

    • Yusef, the Gandalf of disc golf

      Me too, thanks Ted

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

        Me 3.

      • Compelled Speechless

I too was turned on the first time I read it. And still after the second time when I read it correctly.

      • Grosspatzer

Well, the uvula *is* positioned deep in the throat. Some find this stimulating.

      • Compelled Speechless

Oh. I was talking about the dog licking.

        Who loves peanut butter????

    • C. Anacreon

      It’ll behoove ya
      To care for your uvula

  2. SDF-7

“Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has explained why Avengers movies are now positioned to be saga cappers rather than team-up films that arrive in the concluding chapters of each MCU phase.”

With each passing day I care less and less about the MCU++… and I’m fine with that.

    • Sean

I still haven’t watched part 2 of the last one. The DVD sits unopened downstairs.

      *shrug*

      • Lackadaisical

I don’t think I’ve watched part one of the first one, maybe on accident?

    • Chafed

      I think it’s pronounced MCULGBTQ2+XYZ

    • Compelled Speechless

I told myself I would stop after Endgame on account of no longer being 14 years old anymore. I made the mistake of watching a few episodes of most of the D+ shows. I should have stuck to my promise and been able to remember the whole thing fondly. Falcon and Winter Soldier was beyond embarrassing. Apathy is the appropriate response.

      • Fatty Bolger

I liked Wandavision and Loki. Moon Knight was OK. Only got through 2 episodes of F&WS, I agree, it was turrible.

      • Compelled Speechless

Wandavision was actually okay accept for the classic Marvel descent into a stupid blob of bad CGI third act that really undid all my good will towards it. Loki was where the gender bait and switch started. Not only was the show not about Loki, but he was reduced to a stupid, helpless, whimpering coward. That’s the one that took me from apathy to disdain, at which point I decided the whole thing is not worth my time or concern, thus my return to glorious apathy.

      • one true athena

Yep Loki was awful. Total Mary Sue incoherent garbage. I haven’t watched anything marvel since they baited me with that.

      • Compelled Speechless

Completely incoherent. I thought The Architect from The Matrix Reloaded was going to show up and tell Kang to take it easy on the exposition.

      • one true athena

        LOL. so true!

“Yeah, let me just put 20 minutes of nonsense infodumping that isn’t even useful for the series you just watched because there was no indication any of that was happening, because I’m actually just an advertisement for the Next Movie/show, and narrative climaxes are for suckers! Also, don’t forget Sylvie is great, bye!”

Best thing to come out of the Loki series is the whining and gnashing of teeth over how the PR baited it as being “genderfluid and bisexual” and it was actually the dull heternonormative ‘romance’ ever.

I should find the link to the terrible Waldron film script he cannibalized for the show. I can’t believe Feige read that thing and said ‘hey that’s a great series idea, just change the names and add some nonsensical comics references to get the geek crowd and then Kang at the end, and you’re good to go!”

Sorry. Man, I hated that show. I suppose because I was actually looking forward to it and they took every bit of great story possibility they had and completely ignored them.

      • UnCivilServant

Wait, you mean Loki didn’t give birth to Slepnir?

      • SDF-7

I stopped with Endgame, barring No Way Home. And that one was nostalgia bait but given how incredibly stupid they had to make Strange and Parker for the plot to even start, I figured I was making the right decision to ignore everything else.

Easier since I’m not paying a subscription to the Haus of Maus, If (ever, given how it looks) they happen to make The Mandalorian and Orville Season 3 since they have their sticky little rodent globes on it for sale, I’d buy them via iTunes like the rest of my library. But I’m not supporting those weasels. Apathie macht frei.

    • rhywun

positioned to be saga cappers rather than team-up films that arrive in the concluding chapters of each MCU phase

I have no idea what any of that means.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Be prepared for it to suck…

      • SDF-7

I read it as “We have so much crap in each Phase with all the stupid TV shows with characters no one cares about, we need to stretch out the movies people might actually watch across a couple of Phases. So we’ll do slow teases of an over-arching “plot” mixed in with all the crap and then pretend we built up to a momentous story when it comes time.

You know, instead of building characters and the world like established this franchise or using characters people could pick out of a lineup or anything…”

But then, I’m a grumpy, cynical snarker this afternoon.

      • invisible finger

Why would they run the movies any differently than they ran the comic books?

      • Compelled Speechless

I guess they’re really hedging their bets that the grants they’ll get from being ESG certified will be greater than what they could make at the box office. We’ll see if that works out.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

I watched some clips from the latest Thor movie. It was just bad, really effing bad.

      • Zwak doesn't know what to ignite and what to extinguish

        This is the proper response.

  3. The Late P Brooks

I have to go do something which will be a lot like work.

    DRAT!

    • Chafed

“The Biden administration said Thursday it had authorized US Customs and Border Protection to close gaps in a border wall in Arizona near the Morelos Dam in order to protect migrants from drowning and sustaining injuries while trying to cross the Colorado River into the United States.” Wow. He can’t even pretend he is trying to enforce our borders.

      • Compelled Speechless

That’s the wall the D’s have backed themselves up against. Literally any recognition of borders = fascism. Watching all of the woke chickens come home to roost come November is going to be quite the show. I’d better go buy popcorn now while I can still afford it.

    • Fatty Bolger

Just a couple of months after they started busing immigrants to NY and DC. Coincidence?

      • C. Anacreon

The coincidence I’m noticing is that huge swaths of Hispanic voters are switching to the Republicans. Suddenly the Democrats might no longer think importing millions from south of the border is the way to a permanent supermajority….if indeed it’s instead a pathway to Rs gaining power, watch how they won’t be able to build that wall fast enough.

      • Compelled Speechless

Hmmm. Couldn’t you “clean it up” by knocking it down and hauling it all away with about the same level of effort? Since it’s so racist and all.

      • Certified Public Asshat

Don’t fill the gaps, build a bride across the river.

      • Compelled Speechless

Do you usually push your wife over into streams so you can cross without getting wet? I miss the gold old days when that was still socially acceptable.

      • rhywun

She really isn’t very good at this, is she. Though to be fair, look at the material she has to work with. I don’t think anybody can spin that shit.

      • Count Potato

Bill Clinton could. That guy was the Micheal Jordan of bullshit.

      • Compelled Speechless

“That depends on what your definition of what the word “is” is.” In that exact moment, he spontaneously created the concepts of both trolling and based. I’m a little ashamed to admit that I kind of admire the guy for that one..

      • rhywun

        lol you’re probably right

  4. Scruffy Nerfherder

Even my fifteen year old daughter is over Marvel.

    • grrizzly

I only care about special effects on my 4k TV. I got a free Disney+ subscription a couple of weeks ago and still haven’t watched a single Marvel movie. My neighbors once complained about my subwoofer when I watched one of these movies in the past.

    • Drake

I would consider paying for another Deadpool movie if it wasn’t too woke. Otherwise, I’m very done with it.

    • Compelled Speechless

Any links to where I could purchase these particular rifles and roughly 535 rounds of that ammo? Serious question, are the skulls only exploding because they’re entering the completely hollow skulls of congresscritters? Like would they still explode if you were to shoot them into some actual brain matter?

    • Drake

      Some good replies.

Just visited the Corning Museum of Glass with Tulip and CPRM. I should walk more.

The worst part was when your enjoyment of artistry gets interrupted by some artist or curator who injected woke crap. So my advice to those who want to visit – don’t read the text. You’ll enjoy it more that way.

    • The Hyperbole

Just visited the Corning Museum of Glass with Tulip and CPRM.

      Worst euphemism ever.

also, fuck sake, that just sounds horrible no matter who you were with.

      • Sean

It’s more interesting than you’re giving it credit for.

    • Gender Traitor

Did you see any Chihuly works? Local art museum has been big on his stuff for quite a while. [Note in my nerdy defense: I have a sister who’s a stained glass artist.]

      • slumbrew

We saw an awesome, outdoor Chihuly exhibit in Phoenix a few years ago. Really impressive.

      • grrizzly

Chihuly studied at RISD in Providence. The RISD museum has his works or perhaps I attended Chihuly’s special exhibition there years ago.

      • C. Anacreon

Don’t miss the Chihuly Vibrating Uvula.

      • UnCivilServant

There was one I most distinctly did not see. A fifteen foot tall yellow-green thing right inside the front door. Walked right past without even noticing it existed until I was waiting for the others fifteen minutes later.

I don’t get what people see in his work.

      • Penguin

If you don’t like his stuff, do not ever look at this paintings. I like his glass works, but his paintings are shit.

      • UnCivilServant

Personally, I found the historical glass prior to 1960 more interesting than the modern stuff. It’s as if in 1960 the world read something out of Lovecraft and went insane.

China regards Taiwan as part of its territory, though Taiwan sees itself as a self-ruled territory.

Fire away. China sees Taiwan as part of their territory. Unless if we claim Taiwan as part of America’s territory, I don’t see why we’re getting involved. Pelosi going there is like deliberately flicking an aggressive dog’s ear as it growls at you.

America lost something when the world watched DC retreat with its tail between their legs from a bunch of third world peasants with AKs in Afghanistan. Russia then called our State Department’s bluff in Ukraine about getting Ukraine to join NATO. I think China will do the same now in Taiwan.

    • creech

Sarajevo 2022? Not calling China’s bluff would be more dangerous in the long run than Nancy “coming down with Covid” and having to cancel the Taiwan leg of her junket.

“A South African opposition figure has warned of impending civil unrest in the continent’s richest country and likened it to ‘an Arab Spring.’

The controversial opposition leader Julius Malema spoke of the country waking up one day with ‘very angry people that are not going to be reasonable.’

Discontent with the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party in South Africa is at all-time high levels due to the social conditions within the country and ‘the poor becoming poor,’ according to Malema.

‘When the unled revolution comes… the first target is going to be white people,’ Mr Malema told the BBC’s Hardtalk programme, adding that the uprising would also target ‘black elites.'”

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11062235/White-people-target-South-Africas-Julius-Malema-warns-impending-violence.html

    You’re doing great.

    • UnCivilServant

And this will be different from the current ongoing murder and mutiliation of white south africans how? Oh, they’re threatening to add blacks to the victim pool.

    • rhywun

I would have hightailed it out of there decades ago.

  11. grrizzly

    Wow. I missed that.

Amid outrage over Russia’s brutal military campaign in Ukraine, the U.S. Senate on Wednesday unanimously approved a nonbinding resolution calling on Mr. Blinken to designate Russia as a terrorism sponsor for its attacks in Ukraine, as well as in Chechnya, Georgia and Syria, that resulted “in the deaths of countless innocent men, women and children.”

I guess Rand Paul stayed silent after being added to the pro-Russian list issued by Ukraine.

    • Sensei

I’d say Russia IS a sponsor of terrorism, but so is the US.

  12. creech

Now some family is suing Sesame Place for $25 million because some character at the amusement park failed to pat their little darling on the head. Racial discrimination!
The upshot will probably be that Sesame will order their characters not to interact with any kids at all so as to avoid any perception of exclusion of genders, sexual orientation, skin color, religion, national origin, childishness, cookie monster larping, poverty as exhibited by torn jeans, or other appearances that might be law suit worthy.

    Blah.

I was planning on bringing five things previously referenced on this site. Four of them are not to be found in town. The fifth is only-sort of available.
