Hat and Hair Animated :Rerun: Ep 1

by | Jul 13, 2022 | Hat and Hair | 120 comments

The site needs content, so content I will provide, lazily. When I mention old episodes many of you don’t remember things that happened previously in the series, so I figured because it’s summer time I’d do like the big guys do and start running reruns. And I’ll probably do the bane of all nerds and skip episodes instead of showing them in the correct order. Deal with it! Some episodes I cringe at certain things I fucked up. If you want to see those ones, they’re still on the youtube channel, I just may skip them here.

To start this off I’ll share a little extra content most of you haven’t seen. When I was developing the show I made several test clips that I shared with the late night Glibs and SF to try and figure some things out.

The Hat’s voice was really close from the beginning. It’s a voice I do when I’m alone and I get really drunk and start talking to myself, with a lisp added as an homage to Daffy Duck, who the original pre-animation Hat’s bill was modeled after.

The Hair did go through a small evolution. I did originally play with the idea of him having a New York accent. SF’s feed back was that he should sound like an angry soul-crushed individual. So I just kind of ended up using my ‘I’m too pissed off to even yell voice’ and history was made.

There was even a point where I considered trying to voice Donald, but it was a disaster.

Eventually I got the voices down and made better character models (after a couple episodes). And with all that, here it is, the episode that started it all. Episode 1: Mirror

    Mirror. Lol.

  2. Timeloose

    Great CPRM!

The Donald voice is too close to your own. Your clips and samples made the cartoon much better. I imagine it was much more work, but it made it funnier.

  3. rhywun

    Love the behind-the-scenes extras!

Now all we need is director commentaries.

    • Chafed

I hope CPRM doesn’t retcon the series

      • Zwak, who swallowed your pain, and is asking for more.

        The Hat Shot First!

      • Tres Cool

        Kristen shot JR !

      • Sean

[Chafed is now holding a walkie talkie]

  4. Fourscore

Thanks CPRM. I may have missed this one earlier. I’m glad you are doing some reviews. I was laughing, hearing the Donald again, in your series. I don’t want to hear him again IRL but who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? CPRM does…

  5. R.J.

FANTASTICO! Now I have to have some Biden pot and watch the whole series.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

Is that like Trump bucks? Cos it it bought me a lot of pot

      • R.J.

That stuff from the last post. β€œSleepy Joe OG.” Failing that, wine and a big cigar.

  6. Festus

    I lurve your content, CPRM!

    • hayeksplosives

SugarFree gave him some good advice too, it seems!

  7. Yusef drives a Kia

I would have mentioned gooks were Vietnamese,
    Great stuff!

    • MikeS

I shaved 12 throws off my game! My first ever 9 was +20. Yesterday I went to the same course and played two rounds of 9 and got a +8 both times. It’s not a difficult course, but I had noticeable improvement in my drives and putts.

I’m really digging disc golf and you are the #1 reason why I tried it out. Tall cans and big baskets!

      • Lackadaisical

I want to try it at some point too. Seems like the perfect game, as long as I can do it while holding a beer.

  8. Festus

Had a terrible day dealing with functionaries so I ordered in from a place that is 50/50 good. If I die on the bathroom floor, so be it. Fucks not given anymore.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

Call me man, we need to talk.

    • The Hyperbole

Fuck that, go out swinging Festus, like Sonny Liston.

      • MikeS

        Not like Elvis.

      • Tres Cool

I hope my final moments on this mortal coil are like his….conked-out on the shitter.

      • hayeksplosives

Not like Carradine? Swinging while wearing fishnets?

      • Tres Cool

They make my ass look big.

    • Name's BEAM. James BEAM.

Hey Festus! You folks got the Red Tomato Pies pizza chain in Prince George?

The SU and I tried it whilst we were in Quesnel a few weeks ago, and were thoroughly impressed. Didn’t know they started in Williams Lake, either. Good stuff, and world-class in our Not So Humble Opinion.

  9. DrOtto

“I’d do like the big guys do…” thought for sure “clip show” was where this was going.

    • MikeS

      +1 very special episode

  10. db

Holy Shit, CPRM, The Hat was once a car? Clearly, he has been with us for millenia, but evidently not limited to manifesting as headgear.

  11. Brochettaward

I am girding my loins for the battles to come. I have been challenged. My honor attacked in the most vile and intolerable manner. But a Firster does not act hastily and haphazardly. No, he plans and makes sure that there are no wasted movements as he deliberately enacts his revenge. Many would-be Firsters have come for the title. None have lived to tell their grandchildren of the time they thought they could be The First Of All Firsters.

    • MikeS

      Lighten up, Firancest.

      • Brochettaward

Spoken like a child who has no idea what is at stake if there is not a clear cut, unchallenged First Of All Firsters.

      • hayeksplosives

I hate one of your personalities and respect the other.

      • Tres Cool

        +1 Sylvia Plath

    • Tres Cool

      You’re more needy and attention-starved than a 13 year-old VSCO.
      Or Robbie.

      • Mojeaux

        An I oop

      • rhywun

I thought I recognized that reference.

        Sksksksksk!

      • Tres Cool

The VSCO can at least be taught how to change a tire.

  12. MikeS

It’s stealth. You cannot see it.

  13. MikeS

I suppose Glibs HQ would prefer new content, but rerunning some of the best H&H from years gone by would be cool. Especially if there is more creator commentary like this one. Great stuff, CPRM. Thanks for giving us a little peek behind the curtains. Moar!

  14. Tundra

Damn, I wish we were back there.

You are a talented motherfucker, CPRM.

    • rhywun

Seriously. I kept expecting to hear Donald say, “Miss me yet?”

  15. Tundra

For anyone interested, DEG tells me that FreedomFest is being streamed on Fox Nation.

      • R.J.

Nice! I need to look for DEG.

    • MikeS

I perused the exhibitor list. Disappointed to not see IJ, not surprised to not see NRA.

      • Chafed

OSI is there. I wonder if slumbrew is their representative.

      • Tres Cool

The same OSI that built Steve Austin ?

      • Chafed

The one battling the Guild of Calamitous Intent.

      • Chafed

        And defeated SPHINX!

      • Tres Cool

Fun fact- in the Six Million Dollar man episode with SΜ΅tΜ΅eΜ΅vΜ΅eΜ΅ Μ΅SΜ΅mΜ΅iΜ΅tΜ΅hΜ΅ Bigfoot, the sasquatch was played either by Andre the Giant or Ted Cassidy.

      • Gender Traitor

So…they had to take turns in the role? Like the Olsen twins?

      • Tres Cool

Ex-wife was friends with 2 twins from Miami U.
Will confirm they were both cuntes.

  16. R.J.

I got two articles to submit. Using a Raspberry Pi as a regular PC, and a new Glib Car.

    • Tres Cool

What flavor of Linux are you using ?

      • Zwak, who swallowed your pain, and is asking for more.

I believe it is pronounced Lintina!

      • Tres Cool

Didn’t they already try that with Linspire?

    • Sean

The best use of a Raspberry Pi is as an emulator to play Zombies ate my neighbors.

      • Lackadaisical

That would be hard to beat…

  17. dbleagle

Another long day at work. Luckily tomorrow is race day. Plus I will be helping to greet racers arriving from California this weekend.

I was enjoying my Pinot Noir tonight with dinner so I decided to have PCP for dessert. (PCP=port/chocolate/port) I should sleep well but my 0430 wake up will arrive too soon.

    • Gustave Lytton

Port cheese port is also good. Non drinker wife has decided that she likes port and insists on having a bottle on hand.

  18. Tres Cool

Since I made a Dallas reference upthread, added fun-fact: Larry Hagman was a fan of FC Steaua BucureΘ™ti

  19. hayeksplosives

Oh, this was awesome! I never saw the inaugural β€œMirror” episode! So grand. Now I have to search the archives for others I might have missed.

Also, thanks for elaborating on the Hat’s voice. I always did think of Daffy Duck when I heard it. Sometimes Sylvester…

    • Lackadaisical

It might be easier to search the youtube channel.

  20. Sean

    *waves at Glibs*

    • Shpip

      *nods back*

I didn’t drink enough last evening to sleep through the night, so I’m up waaaay too early. But The Open Championship is being played right now at St. Andrews, so I have something to occupy my time.

      • Sean

I drunkenly woke up at 1 am, made coffee and went back to bed. *shrug*

    • Lackadaisical

Wait, so why did the boy get charged as an adult, his name and picture released, but no picture of the girl?

“β€œThis is a bigger issue, not just small,” Fish said. β€œTo lock up these children for a long period of time, do you think that will fix the problem that we have? ”

Maybe? Guessing beating old men to death is generally an indicator of bad things to come from the same people.

      • rhywun

Yeah, depends how he defines “the problem that we have”.

If he’s talking generally, no, of course it won’t “fix” anything – and neither will anything else that law enforcement can come up with.

      • Lackadaisical

Seems like consistently locking up violent males until they turn 50+ really helps, historically.

      • rhywun

Oh sure, that needs to happen. That is really the only thing law enforcement can accomplish.

      • Lackadaisical

Now to be fair, I am honestly surprised the old guy died from this? but the video is blurred out such that it is hard to tell what really happened there, beyond he was clearly assaulted by a mob of kids.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Maybe they continued to beat him more seriously off camera.

    • Lackadaisical

      Free toys! /police

    • Lackadaisical

Many of those are good series. Some are not, or maybe you just have to be the right age to enjoy them.

I liked Attack on Titan and Death Note, but you have to be terminally retarded to put them ahead of Cowboy Beebop.

    • Grosspatzer

Hmm. Will check with the youngest Patzer when he wakes up later this morning afternoon. He is president of the anime club at the university.

    • Not Adahn

It’s a pretty good list. Biased toward modern ones, and missing Bubblegum Crisis and Revolutionary Girl Utena.

    • Lackadaisical

      sick burn.

Ain’t no way I’m watching the video of that btw.

CPRM, these are really good for first attempts. I liked your Donald impression, in the sense that you really captured his style of speaking and typical content.

I could definitely see the hair sounding how you first voiced him.

  23. Lackadaisical

Looks like I get to torture you all over the lunch hour. I should be able to peak in at some point before the 4pm post…

  24. Gender Traitor

Good morning, Lack, Tulip, Teh Hype, Sean, rhy, and ::golf whisper:: Shpip!

Already starting to get things in order for the trip to western NY at the end of the month – can you tell I can’t wait? Directions to the hotel both printed off AND saved to my phone (because I don’t trust myself to be able to figure out how to use Google Maps. I probably shouldn’t trust Google.) There was indeed a form on the CU’s online “banking” (“credit unioning” has never really caught on as a verb) website to indicate dates and states for impending travel so they don’t think I’m being defrauded when my credit card buys gas in Erie, PA. (Trying to avoid paying NY gas prices – and taxes – as much as possible.) Almost forgot to print directions from the hotel to Party Central, so I’ll do that today.

      • Gender Traitor

Good morning, to you, too, U! How are you this (early indications suggest) fine day?

      • UnCivilServant

I slept through my alarm and almost missed the start of the workday. thankfully it’s a remote day, so I was able to barely make it. I’ve not had any caffiene or food yet.

I have been waffling over the verbiage of the cover letter for my own application (that’s due today) and I have to schedule five interviews for the position we’re hiring, because I finally got it past the petty HR drone.

      • Gender Traitor

Yikes! Hope the caffeine is close at hand. Adrenaline alone probably won’t get you through eight hours.

Good luck with the cover letter! Please do get that application in! (And let me know if you’d like any feedback on the letter – I don’t foresee being too terribly busy as work today. Head honchos will be in a meeting for a fair chunk of the morning.)

      • UnCivilServant

I put it in the firdge before I went to bed so it’d be cold this morning. I can’t seem to muster the motivation to walk to the kitchen and get it… and my brain has gone into the doubt cycle on the darn job posting. πŸ™

      • Gender Traitor

Nooooo! Cast aside your doubt!!! You don’t HAVE to take the position if it’s offered, but you DO have to apply in order to get the chance.

Maybe some caffeine will jump start your motivation.

      • UnCivilServant

Maybe. I’ve got part of a draft done. I’m not sure how to wrap it up, and the application deadline is today.

      • Tres Cool

        suh’ cuh

      • Gender Traitor

Good morning, homey! I pose the same question to you as I did above to U.

      • Tres Cool

Considering I’ve been up most of the night, Im not sure where on a traditional clock I am. I may sneak in a nap, and take Tres Ver 2.0 down to the river.

      • Gender Traitor

Oh, that float sounds like fun! πŸ˜ƒ Can you get one of those paddle boats that looks like a couple of big swans?

    • rhywun

Check gasbuddy. You’re not saving in Erie. There are even a couple Indian reservations in NY and in your path (I think) that are cheaper.

      • Gender Traitor

        Ooh! Thanks for the tip!

      • Lackadaisical

They are cheaper, there are ones in niagara falls, south of Buffalo, and one even in downtown at the casino.

      • Lackadaisical

PA raised their gas taxes, so buying anywhere in NY is going to be cheaper.

      • Gender Traitor

        Duly noted!

  25. Grosspatzer

    Mornin’, reprobates!

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, ‘patzie! What flavor pipe terbacky today? (Fun fact – for some values of “fun” : I conned the man who would become my first hubby into buying a pipe and tobacco. On our very first “date” the day we met, we were walking around the mall and passed a smoke shop. I took a whiff and said, “Mmmm! I love the smell of pipe smoke!”)

      • Not Adahn

That’s the only African coffee I love. And I do love it.

      • Gender Traitor

Good coffee! I love Ethiopian Burger Chef! πŸ™ƒ

      • Grosspatzer

        Speaking of Erie, PA…

Many moons ago we spent a few days there after attending a wedding in Pittsburgh. Took a day trip to Presque Isle where for the first time I was able to let the kids be in the water without me, Lake Erie being somewhat calmer than the Atlantic. As we’re sitting on the beach, a yellow School bus pulls up. I was expecting a bunch of screaming yutes to pile out, but instead out marched about 30 women wearing full Amish gear, ankle-lenght shirts, bonnets, the whole 9 yards, who continued right into the lake without removing a single thread. Never seen anything like it.

      • UnCivilServant

        Huh.

        Haven’t seen that before.

My only anecdote about Erie PA is my unofficial tradition of stopping at the Perkins in that town when on the road through the area. There’s nothing special about it, and no real reason why I do it, I’ve just done so most of the times I’ve been there.

      • Tres Cool

Maybe it was a baptism ?

    • Lackadaisical
