Dredge begins as you, a lone fisherman lost at sea, stumble across a small maritime village. Youāre greeted by the local mayor and the pair of you strike a deal: You are allowed to stay here on the condition that you provide for the town, and you can take out a loan to purchase a basic boat that will enable you to do so. A couple of days pass, during which you catch simple fish like cod and mackerel, both of which can be sold for decent money.
Stay away from Innsmouth.

Speaker of the House Sherman Packard said Thursday he will not be removing House Majority Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) over a social media post from 2011 in which he used the āN-word.ā The decision comes just months after a progressive member was disciplined for reportedly shouting the word at a young Black activist in the State House.
The New Hampshire Bulletin broke the story that a Democratic candidate for the House, Kathleen Cavalaro of Rochester, was pushing out a screenshot of the comment from a long-disbanded chat room for a libertarian radio show. The Bulletin confirmed that Osborne, 45, was the author of the post.
Defenders of Osborne say that, while the word is certainly offensive, Osborne was clearly ā if clumsily ā using it to condemn racial violence, not to engage in it. Though at least one GOP House member conceded to NHJournal it was āa dumbass comment.ā
Osborneās 2011 statement:
āIf someone says to you that they support lynching a (racial slur), and in fact, they really are stimulated by the thought of lynching a (racial slur), would you associate with that person?ā Osborne wrote in response to another commentator. āWould you tell people about it? If you say that having an idea that lynching (racial slur) is good is not the same as having an idea that (expletive) kids is good, then that is the source of the disconnect there.ā

Gorbachev, who died Tuesday in Moscow at age 91, to this day is regarded by many in the West as someone who could have reformed the Soviet Union. An overall impression among many is that things could have been much worse, had someone more bloodthirsty occupied the Kremlin at a time. Sure, he did not tear down the Berlin Wall like Reagan encouraged him to. But he also did not send in the tanks when Germans started tearing the wall down themselves.
The amount of projection in progressives is quite amazing. They spent 4 years complaining about Hillary losing fraudulent 2016 election, supported actual violence all summer of 2020, completely ignored Constitutional rights during blue state COVID lockdowns but it’s the Republicans that are a threat to democracy. Then, Biden goes full retard/facists in his speech last night and they’re cheering? Just WOW.

āThey believe that society has now robbed them ā that the idea of feminism is working against nature, and that we must be put back into the correct place,ā Wilde added.

He isn’t even good-looking.
Yeah, I had to see that for myself. You’re right.
This clueless straight guy has no idea whether or not he is good looking… but… I did have to do a double take because he looked like a gay guy I used to know, just with longer hair.
Oh come on, you can admit whether a guy is good-looking or not.
I can identify good-looking women easily.
Me too, Rojas.
#metoo
OFFS Stop. It.
Once more with feeling: “queer” is a political term.
Unless they are equating it with “whore” or something – I can accept that.
Damnit!!!
Swans had a comeback against Melbourne so now they’ve got to lose twice to go out.
Yeah, I stopped watching in disgust as the work day was ramping up this morning.
But AIDS wasn’t enough of a reason to stop doing those things?
Nobody has AIDS anymore. Guys are on PrEP, so they won’t catch HIV. And those who became HIV+ are on drugs that make their virus load undetectable and not in a position to infect anybody else.
Dead thread, but thanks. I did not know that.
I guess the current drugs make whoring yourself somewhat safer again. Yay.
“Somewhat safer”. Risky behavior has always come with risks, and the risks are not limited to gays. Before monkeypox, there was AIDS; before AIDS gonnorhea, Chlamydia, syphilis… which are all still out there if you like to take a walk on the wild side. Did people really think that sex with random strangers was safe before the latest round of STDs?
After AIDS, there was NRS, then there was UBT.
He should get Suzanne Sommers to do a TV infomercial fundraiser about his plight.
“Thank you, Thighmaster!”
Dammit, I meant Sally Struthers
70’s blonde bimbos, so easy to mix them up
They all blend together after a while.
He looks like that failed actor, Ian something-or-other.
Bidenās handlers should be down on their knees thanking doG that the speech was not broadcast more widely.
No kidding. Wiser heads prevailed. The networks are trying to save him from himself.
āI donāt know who the āItās not all Republicans, just MAGA Republicansā [is] for,ā said liberal pundit Elie Mystal during an appearance Thursday night on MSNBC. āIām sure there are some white supremacists who will vote with white supremacists, who donāt think they are white supremacists who are happy Biden didnāt call them a white supremacist.ā
Right.So insight.
ā In any event, Bidenās soul of the nation speech last night was boring and entirely forgettable. ā
Everybody already knows Republicans are evil white supremacists who hate democracy.
These are the libertarians whose response to the Biden administration putting dissidents in gulags will be “So passĆ©, been done already.”
Biden attempted to clarify his comments about Republicans more generally again on Friday.
āI donāt consider any Trump supporter to be a threat to the country,ā Biden said. āI do think anyone who calls for the use of violence, fails to condemn violence when itās used, refuses to acknowledge an election has been won, insists upon changing the way in which we rule and count votes, that is a threat to democracy.ā
Selective recall strikes again.
Yeah, I don’t care what the fuck they say now. I know exactly how they think and would be a fool to discount it.
Itās what he was told to say vs what he said off script again. What he was told to say is more important.
The demented bastard doesn’t realize they’re trying to get him killed or will kill him. They’re using him as bait.
“refuses to acknowledge an election has been won, ” Um. after 2016 you mean?
“insists upon changing the way in which we rule and count votes” So no more drop boxes?
Well I started to write and then it turned article length. Bullet points!
*All is well
*Just finished deadline for tomorrow’s paper–next deadline Tues–Sweeeeeet. And I’ve got stories for that one. Good.
*Moved up a rung! Furnished condo for two weeks. Feels actually like home. It’s amazing. Solid, tangible reward.
*Recently, the Cubs have been, for what they are this year…remarkably good. This is all due to my divine evaninity, of course.
ššš
Too bad for you – the Cubbies are visiting the ‘birdhouse this weekend! šā¾š¦
Glad things are going well.
Happy for you. Best of luck!
As somebody that reads all day, I greatly appreciate the bullet points!
Too fucking bad for us
had someone more bloodthirsty occupied the Kremlin at a time.
Tell that to the people in Lithuania and Latvia.
The pretense is gone.

Just WOW.

Turns out Olivia Wilde is an idiot.

Wut
It would have been a bigger surprise had she not been an idiot.
Pretty much everybody in Hollyweird is nut job. Anybody looking for intellectual and philosophical enlightenment from a bunch of paid liars, deserves the drivel they get.
Who?
Turns out Olivia Wilde is an idiot.
I never would have guessed.
In the battle of worst movie to put on, OBE won when Titanic was put on the front

Who’s going to watch Woke LOTR?
The guy that puts out my favorite rants
I will not give them the watchtime.
I want them to suffer.
I’ll give it a shot.
The wife just put it on.
Thoughts and prayers.
I am viewing it like Halloween III. That should not have had the Halloween series tied to it. Likewise, of you remove āLord of the Ringsā from this series, it just another fantasy series with decent special effects.
it just another fantasy series with decent special effects.
See the rant I posted above
I don’t even want to watch the youtube videos about the series lest I encourage their watching of the show.
That’s funny. I had not seen that rant yet.
Luckily one of my super powers is my complete lack of care for whether a movie or TV show follows the source material (especially source material that I’ve never read)
That’s not a super power, that’s terminal apathy.
I like to think of it as lazy stoicism.
Iām with the Hype on this. I find it easy to take completely different media on their own merits (or lack thereof).
Cancel your Prime Membership in retaliation.
Someone mentioned it at work and I was like, “Another one?! Sigh.”
“It’s on Prime.”
“Oh, I guess I’ll have to miss it, then š.”
Yesterday I won $120 on slots (on a $20 lark pay-in) and then played bingo at the neighborhood bar, just cuz I was there anyway watching Ok State win at football.
I won an early round of bingo and picked a ābroomstickā skirt as my prize.
Then I won the Coverall for cash.
I have never had so many old ladies shoot me dirty looks.
But I feel lucky!! š
WooHoo!
Don’t let their jealousy ruin your mood.
Additional background: old ladies who play bingo resent the shit out of newbies who breeze in and win. They seem to think you have to EARN it by being a bitter old woman for at least a few months.
Oh, they’d resent one of their own.
Hell yes!
Back in the olden days, my FIL had a place up on Lake Vermilion. One of our haunts was the Muni.
One day, me, my wife, her sister and my BIL went into town for cocktails and pull-tabs. We cleaned up.
Even after massive tips, cocktails, etc, we left with like $600. The girls kept shrieking every time we hit another one. My BIL and I kept looking at each other while the locals were getting increasingly irritated. Finally. the last $100 prompted us to haul them back to the lake.
My favorite gambling experience ever. (And I was in the business!)
That looks like a cool place. I used to be a regular at this place: https://www.yelp.com/biz/round-corner-tavern-sacramento?ylist=bars-with-pbr-on-tap-sacramento
In fact, it’s where I met my wife.
Nice.
You and I need to meet some day, Zwak.
Yay. Holiday weekend!
Ay, suppose.
I’m retired. What’s a holiday? What’s a weekend?
And all of you damn tourists, get off my road!
(Tightens onion)
Holy crap. Check out the Babylon Bee tonight, after the Presidents speech last night. The whole first page is devoted to it.
Zooms seems to be an issue. Neph may have been carried off by Sloopy and Banjos, WebDom is busy fixing up her new nest, and I don’t have any kind of account.
