This week is kicking my ass already…I’ll get right to it.

Mexico sends their foreign minister to pursue an end to the Ukraine war.

Not a bad idea.  If I were running from Mexico, Israel would probably be one of the last places they’d look.

That’s a lot of kids in cages.

The latest sign of economic recovery in the US…one of its closest trading partners raising interest rates over 9%.

My generation disappoints me. Fentanyl seems so gauche.  At least cocaine in the 80’s was glamorous, and you know what?  It still is.

Good news!  You can get gay-married in Cuba.  The bad news?  Its still Cuba.

I have no idea if this is the Eric Clapton version, but the thumbnail looked alright,

    Public schools are ruining kids.

Cuba held a rare referendum Sunday on an unusually contentious law — a government-backed “family law” code that would allow same-sex couples to marry and adopt, as well as outlining the rights of children and grandparents.

Maybe now leftists will flock to Cuba.

Education, “free” health care, and gay marriage? It sounds like paradise.

“The Biden Administration wants to make traffic light nutrition labels mandatory on the front of food packaging and offer counseling to overweight people as part of a massive crackdown on the nation’s bulging waistline.

The former proposal would see all food and drink sold in stores or supermarkets carry a warning about their salt, fat and sugar content on the front of the product — either in a color-coded or star rating system.

If it gets the go-ahead, it would mark a step up from the existing setup which allows processed food companies to only have to put nutritional information on the backs of packaging.

The White House said the plan is designed ‘to help consumers, particularly those with lower nutrition literacy, quickly and easily identify foods that are part of a healthy eating pattern’.”

    Maybe stop subsidizing corn syrup?

    • Semi-Spartan Dad

If it gets the go-ahead, it would mark a step upincreased regulatory costs and therefore increased food prices from the existing setup which allows forces processed food companies to only have to put nutritional information on the backs of packaging.

Interesting spin on reality from the dailymail. I’ve fixed it.

And we would always call them, and they would always come in hot and bothered. The drugs were the worst, and we would always tell them “would we call you if it was ours?”

I also used to know the daughter of a ATF agent, and he had a great story about his Crown Vic being stolen with a trunk of full auto’s.

      • Gustave Lytton

Even in the military, things go…missing. Very unpleasant for everyone when sensitive items are unaccounted for, and may spend a lot of time looking for them, but if they aren’t found, they aren’t found.

I hope they take either Lassie or Barney Fife with them when they enter old, unsafe mines.

I’ve been in a few old mines, but no way am I clambering hundreds of feet down wooden ladders constructed 100 years ago like these guys.

  16. MikeS

I don’t know what compelled me, but I thought for giggles I’d go see what Snopes said about Biden’s “five times faster” bullshit line a month or so a go. Wow. I knew Snopes was bad, but holy fuck…I didn’t know it was this bad:

But the overall point remains, that the AR-15 is lethal and has been used in numerous mass shootings in the United States over the years. Arguments about the velocity of the bullet miss the point that this weapon has also been used to murder hundreds of people since 2007.

Biden did make the erroneous claim about the speed of an AR-15 bullet, though earlier statements he made on the same subject were closer to accurate. We rate this claim a “Correct Attribution.”

Yes, he said it and it’s technically wrong, but this is too important to get wrapped up in details and unimportant facts.

So, what is happening with this ruptured natural gas pipeline in Europe?

“They” are saying there was an underwater explosion and two pipelines are damaged and therefore sabotage.

“They” also say Russia makes no sense, since all Russia needs to do is not send gas down the pipe.

“They” also point out that Biden said the US would attack those pipelines if needed.

“They” are not all the same person, because “they” also say this is how you know it is a Russian false flag operation to make it look like the CIA.

anyone making any sense out of this mess?

    • rhywun

No, and I’m not expecting a straight answer – perhaps ever.

“Putin is a terrible villain! this is all his fault”

I mean, we all know that’s what Sullivan is going to say.

      • Hyperion

I’d agree that Putin in an evil villain. I mean unless you compare him with Biden. Or Trudeau. Or Merkel. Or Boris Johnson, or pretty much any democrat politician in the USA. Or Klaus, the real villain living in a lair under a volcano with a cat named Mr. Bigglesworth.

      • Hyperion

Yes. The media lie about everything that happens in Ukraine or about Russia.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Biden did say the pipeline would cease to exist. I’m guessing he blurted out something that was discussed in meetings, but God didn’t get her hand over his mouth quickly enough. Combined with Mr. Applebaum thanking the US, I’m leaning towards us doing it. At best, Biden gave cover for Russia to pull a false flag, and they can now say, “Don’t blame us for your cold homes this winter. Those guys blew up the pipeline. We want to sell you gas, but those elites would rather see you freeze.” Divide and conquer. But ultimately, I don’t really know either.

      • Hyperion

I’m sure he’s going to supply Europe with all that fuel they need to heat their homes this winter, so it’s all good.

      • Ozymandias

In any other context, if I threatened to do “X” to you if you do “A,” when you do “A” and then “X” happens, we might not immediately conclude you did “X”, but you sure as shit would be among any sane, reasonable investigator’s prime suspect. And we’d be asking for alibis, checking your phone records, etc.
ONLY in politics does the happening of “A” immediately produce media explanations about why it MUST BE someone other than the politician MFer who explicitly threatened to do it.

    • DenverJ

      Well it wasn’t me.

    Anyone still here?

After remembering the deadline, I came up with an idea at the grocery store. I could write in any style I wanted. Had done it once for the paper before. Was gonna talk about the delay in my posts cuz I’d been looking for an apartment. That, and how good it is to not see masks as compared to Korea.

Got home and nailed my own deadline, of writing it in an hour. Pumped it out and it’s damn good for it’s supposed to be. Was able to use the new easy posting system to schedule it to go out to our paying customers who ticked the box to receive such pieces. I checked 8pm and off it directly went to 2,300 people.

Big rung on my ladder. Next…is for them to see what abilities I DO have. I’ll learn newspaper style, but I’ve presently got what I’ve honed. They run a whole slew of other papers. Syndicate me and spread me round. That ladder’s got a bit more grip.

I ain’t gonna run it through the posting system myself right now, though I will later. Seems prudent to share.

    Onward, upward, always.

    • Hyperion
