Lighters up, kids. Yes, I’m really playing that song, because it’s that day. Enjoy the crowd shots.

BIDEN GAFFE OF THE DAY: REPORTER: “Should there be any restrictions on abortion at all?” POTUS: “Yes, there should be.”

AND SO IT BEGINS: Within a 24 hour period, German manufacturing has been rocked by four separate century-old companies declaring insolvency as energy costs and inflation continue to spiral across Europe.

RAINBOW FENTANYL STILL TRENDING: Apparently it’s an actual thing, but the real story here is irresponsible parents acting irresponsibly, not the color the drugs were dyed. No word on whether the rainbow variety is stronger than CNN fentanyl.

ARIZONA BALLOT SHITSHOW: “A problem with the link between voter registration and driver’s license databases may have caused as many as 6,000 voters to be improperly flagged as lacking proof of citizenship documentation on file.” Note the passive tone and the phrasing which makes it seem like the computers did this on their own. We should note that this can be partly blamed on a maddeningly narrow 2013 SCOTUS decision saying that Arizona could not demand proof of citizenship for voting in federal elections. The election is being run by Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who is also running for Governor of Arizona. There is an inherent conflict of interest there and nobody should be in charge of an election in which that person is a candidate.

TOTALLY NOT A CONCENTRATION CAMP: “A massive [government] encampment in New York City for illegal immigrants is banning journalists from entering and observing the premises, and staff working at the area are refusing to talk to press, or share any information whatsoever.” Also take note of Granny’s Alliance, the contractor supposedly running the place; they’re a party/event rental company, they’re a relief organization, and we can bet that they are politically well-connected. But the real takeaway on this is that NYC government is indeed running a camp to house people the state finds embarrassing.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS ROUND-UP: Funds embezzled for for Vox Day’s planned right-wing superhero movie. Troubled movie production “Rust” leaving New Mexico after fines by New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Bureau for “willful and serious” workplace violations; still no criminal charges.

Oh, it’s only on the wrapper, not even in the bricks like asian heroin. No idea what use that could have.

Within a 24 hour period, German manufacturing has been rocked by four separate century-old companies declaring insolvency as energy costs and inflation continue to spiral across Europe.

Profitability is overrated. Ask any venture capitalist.

    • Dr. Fronkensteen

One of Germany’s prominent business leaders has hit out at that country’s energy policies, saying that the current energy crisis and the emphasis on unreliable renewables means it is at risk of going from an industrial country to an “industrial museum”.

      SO back to feudalism.

He’s totally oblivious to the reality of the situation.

Then he’s not talking to any friends or relatives in Germany (or the ones he’s talking to are world-class ostriches). One of our best friends is a German lass who just came back from visiting rellies in Hamburg just a few weeks ago. People there are worried stupid.

NH does, but there are some ways around it.

    • rhywun

      Say what now?

Am I off base or is voting for federal offices not restricted to citizens?!

  7. juris imprudent

You’re making the Stacy Abrams argument from 2018 about Kemp (now with AZ and Hobbs). It was bullshit then, it’s bullshit now.

    • R C Dean

I think there’s no question its a conflict of interests. At a bare minimum, an “apparent” conflict, which are typically policed, in the real world, on nearly the same basis as actual conflicts of interests.

Let’s not forget that AZ has weak ballot security, and Maricopa County had a failed audit of the 2020 election. Maricopa has long had very sketchy ballot harvesting practices, after all. And under Hobbs, the state has apparently lost its ability to count ballots without unconscionable delays. Hobbs has made sure the door is open to shenanigans, and she is a Soros candidate, so her ties to organizations devoted to weak election security are bona fide.

Will she take advantage of the opportunities she has created for herself? Who knows, but why take the chance.

      • juris imprudent

Then you accept Abrams argument from ’18?

      • R C Dean

If she’s saying a Secretary of State should resign before running for any other office, yeah. Conflicts are conflicts.

If Abrams argument from ‘18 is that the election was actually stolen, well, I haven’t seen much to support that claim. Was there a failed audit in GA after the 2018 election?

  8. R C Dean

“The election is being run by Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who is also running for Governor of Arizona. There is an inherent conflict of interest there and nobody should be in charge of an election in which that person is a candidate.”

I have made this point repeatedly, including to people who regularly deal with conflicts of interest in a business setting.

I’ve gotten nothing but blank stares, with one exception. I’m pretty sure they’re mostly Dems, which probably has a lot to do with it. It hits their partisanship filter and just slides off.

    • Ownbestenemy

What you want her to recuse herself and give the appearance that she is not influencing the election? You think we are some nation of laws and ethics or something?

  9. The Late P Brooks

Additionally, in September, leaders within the metal working industry in Europe have warned the EU that the continent could face “permanent de-industrialisation” if the bloc does not take steps to ease pressure on businesses from the energy crisis.

    Mission accomplished.

An even better question is: are the people housed in that camp free to leave? And how did they get there? Did they all just magically appear? Walk over? Get on a bus? Did they sign consent forms? Can we get a blank form…

I suspect that this won’t be the last we hear about that, but it will take time to work through the process.

Last week it was reported that the president of the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI), Markus Steilemann, said that the country may become an “industrial museum” if circumstances continue to worsen.

    Anthony Fauci’s work calendar

On Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 9am, Dr. Anthony Fauci joined staff at the National Security Council (NSC) — the President’s national security and foreign policy advisory shop — for a meeting in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building about the novel coronavirus. Fauci would continue to have meetings in classified settings throughout the month.

Fauci’s calendar entries included NSC meetings, White House Situation Room meetings, and meetings in other classified settings, as Covid-19 was breaking in China. (To our knowledge, the existence of these meetings before January 28, 2020 were not previously disclosed.)

On Friday, January 24th, four days after China admitted human-to-human transmission of the virus, Fauci started attending a small group Covid discussion that first took place in “Anthony’s Office” in a building next to the White House. Anthony, in this case, appears to be an NSC employee and an expert in biodefense and China.

Flashing back to December 2019, when patients in Wuhan were showing up at hospitals with unidentified pneumonia cases, Fauci attended the National Institutes of Health — Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation dinner and workshops on December 19 and 20th – the sixth annual event for NIH staff and Gates Foundation executives.

On the morning of the 19th, billionaire Bill Gates tweeted out his own hopes for the coming year and his now prescient prediction: “one of the best buys in global health: vaccines.”

Today, we only know about these meetings, because our organization at OpenTheBooks.com, in partnership with the public-interest law firm Judicial Watch, sued the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in federal court. NIH had refused to even acknowledge our Freedom of Information Act request.

    talking his book

Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed the majority of people now think it is unwise to purchase a car that runs on gasoline because its value will most likely drop as the company reported record revenues.

The billionaire was responding to an analyst’s question during Tesla’s earnings call on October 19 about how the electric car manufacturer would adjust if the US enters a recession.

“I think the public at large realizes that the world’s moving towards electric vehicles and that it’s foolish to actually buy a new gasoline car at this point because the residual value of that gasoline car is going to be very low,” Musk said, according to a transcript of the earnings call from Insider’s Tim Levin.

“NIH to launch probe into controversial Boston University study where scientists created Covid strain with 80% kill rate… after officials admitted they only learned the details of the research on DailyMail.com

It comes after a senior US health official admitted this week that the controversial Covid manipulation research carried out in a laboratory in Boston was not authorized — despite being funded by taxpayer money.

DailyMail.com exclusively revealed this week that a team from Boston University had developed a hybrid Covid virus — combining the Omicron and original Wuhan strains — which had an 80 per cent lethality rate.

Public records indicate it was partly paid for using a grant awarded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the federal government’s main research agencies.”

      JFC.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

How do they calculate that kill rate?

      • rhywun

I think it killed 8 out of 10 mice. (Seriously, that is what I read.)

      • juris imprudent

Wondering how many co-morbidities each mouse had.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Being stuck in a lab is a pretty serious comorbidity if you are a mouse.

    • db

It’s worth pointing out that the created strain was neither more lethal than the Omicron strain from which it was created, nor as lethal as the original strains from 2019-2020.

80% kill rate is rather less than the 100% rate seen in the early strains. Also keep in mind that “exposure” in lab mice is done by basically squirting large amounts of virus up their noses, so the kill rate is artificially higher in both cases than would be seen with natural transmission.

Still, it’s pretty irresponsible to be doing research like this in any but the most seriously secure laboratories.

    Today,on “Fools and their money”

MacKenzie Scott is chipping away at her promise to give away half of her multi-billion dollar fortune.

On Tuesday, the Girl Scouts of the USA announced a $84.5 million gift from the billionaire, the biggest donation from a single benefactor in the organization’s history. The money will go toward updating facilities, hiring new staff and making membership more accessible for girls from all backgrounds, the Girl Scouts said.

That includes creating new diversity, equity, inclusion and racial justice initiatives for “communities that have been under engaged,” the announcement said. The donation will also support “expanding girls’ access to STEM exploration, building upon areas of interest such as hands-on coding, aeronautics, and sustainability,” the organization added.

“The support from all our donors, including Ms. Scott, is critical in delivering on our work of imagination and transformation,” Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Sofia Chang said in a statement. “We’re excited to prove how Ms. Scott’s investment in girls will change the world — because when one girl succeeds, we all succeed.”

The funds will also “future-proof its facilities,” making the Girl Scouts’ buildings more climate resilient and accessible to visitors, the announcement said. Girl Scouts of the USA didn’t immediately respond to CNBC Make It’s request for clarification.

“We’ll transform the living shit out of this outfit. You won’t even recognize it when we’re done.”

“communities that have been underengaged” = expanding our market. That’s not a bad thing.
Learning more about STEM and coding isn’t bad either.
“Sustainability”. I don’t even know what that means.
Making buildings “climate resistant” probably means doing some maintenance that they haven’t had the money to do.

  26. The Late P Brooks

Mackenzie Scott would do far less damage if she just burned the money, or shredded it for use as bedding material for show pigs.

  27. The Late P Brooks

I wonder if anyone has calculated the combined net worth of this Congress. It must be astonishing.

Greater than the combined GDPs of sub-Saharan Africa.

  28. The Late P Brooks

The donation will be divided between Girl Scouts of the USA and 29 local councils selected by Scott herself, the organization said. One council in Southern Arizona is using its portion of Scott’s gift, about $1.4 million, to continue a previous initiative: transforming a van into a mobile science and technology classroom, its CEO Kristen Garcia-Hernandez told NPR on Tuesday.

Bloody Hell. What’s in it? a particle accelerator?

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

They bought the van second hand from Iraq, so it’s probably a weapons lab. They got a grant from Fauci.

    • whiz

You vastly underestimate the cost of a particle accelerator (a cutting-edge one, anyway).

Given the Ukraine situation, they have no choice but to turn of the heating.

However, not having a company provided pot to piss in is another thing entirely.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

I’d mount a urinal on some wheels, place it in front of the protestors and invite people to piss on them. Frankly I’m surprised those Germans haven’t thought of this yet.

    • Zwak. who's suit is as ragged as his nerves.

      .
@VW told us that they supported our right to protest, but they refused our request to provide us with a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued, and have turned off the heating. People in support can’t get out of the building.
      Seems about right.

    • Sean

I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire.

    • B.P.

It’s all about scheisse for the Germans.

    • R.J.

Heh. Some protesters chained themselves to 55 gallon drums full of cement on the Bay Bridge in CA.

“Isabel R. Araujo, a trans #Antifa leader in Portland, is organizing a direct action to try & shut down women’s rights activist Kellie-Jay Keen on her speaking visit in Oregon. (Keen says trans women are men.) Araujo is currently raising money for weapons.”

      I’m not convinced that someone didn’t already…

    • Compelled Speechless

The goal for the weapons is $161.00. These idiots need to crowd fund that amount of money, yet they feel they should be the ones dictating how all society should be run. JFC. Isn’t Soro’s accounts payable department listed on the Antifa contact list?

      • UnCivilServant

They don’t need the violence at the moment, so the antifan thugs are unfunded until next riot.

      • Compelled Speechless

You’d think they’d at least pay out these requests to pad their “charitable giving” totals for tax purposes. How did Soros get so loaded if he’s not even good at basic tax cheating?

      • UnCivilServant

They give to their own charities, keeping the funds in the family and claiming the tax breaks. Do you even evil billionaire bro?

    Bidenomics

President Joe Biden announced $2.8 billion in grants for 20 companies to produce batteries for electric vehicles in the United States.

    ——-

Increasing manufacturing capacity of in the United States has been a priority for the Biden administration. In all, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act allocated more than $135 billion toward electric vehicle manufacturing. The president has directed the industry to have EVs comprise half of all new vehicles produced in the United States by 2030.

Remember when Trump was some sort of economically illiterate xenophobe for trying to get manufacturing back?

    • UnCivilServant

But Trump wanted us to make stuff we actually want and need.

      • Shiny Nerfherder

  32. The Late P Brooks

Biden said the United States is experiencing “one of the most significant economic transitions since the Industrial Revolution.”

  35. Not Adahn

Finished my match. Some silly misses dropped to me 15th in the staff match, out of the top half. I did come in the top half of my class though, so +2 victory points for me. Oddly enough, the Masters/GMs on the staff did kinda shittily. Maybe they earned those classes back in diggety-seven and never shot a classifier since then?

My squad had two notable figures: a Dude who looked like your typical broken down scraggly-bearded guy with that incomprehensible NC accent variant but who must be Vietnamese somewhere in his father’s line based on the name. He gave me great pointers and excellent coaching. We also had a paid competitor who couldn’t come to the main match and also arrived at a production match with a 1911. So he has to compete in a non-recognized category, so he got nothing. But… his scores still show up, and currently he’s 8th out of 55, only being beaten by PCC shooters and way ahead of any pistoleros. He would have Been even further up in the rankings, but there was a 35 yard shot with metal hard cover both in front and behind the target. He did not realize there was metal behind and kept shooting every time he heard the impact. He would up with nine hits on the target before he gave up.
