IFLA: The “Whoopsie” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of December 4

by | Dec 4, 2022 | IFLA | 78 comments

Lily and Gertie wrestle. Marley barks.

This is a really good week to remember that the stars are probably not talking about you.  Because after a boring an uneventful beginning, there is a dance involving the Earth and the moon exchanging partners with Mars, Mercury and Saturn (in Scorpio and Capricorn) that draws a nice three-day arc beginning with domestic violence, a period of intense change, and then Saturn slamming the coffin lid down on the whole thing.  The best we can hope for is that it’s entertaining.

Lily, Tabitha, Panda, Duke, Maple

Cancer: 10 of Cups – Contentment, repose of the entire heart; the perfection of that state; also perfection of human love and friendship – I interpret this as getting the clap and I don’t like it

    • Sean

      LOL

Thanfully, i don’t read it the same way.

  2. The Late P Brooks

Sagittarius: The Moon – Hidden enemies, danger, calumny, darkness, terror, deception, occult forces, error.

    I can’t wait.

  3. Penguin

Leo: 6 of Wands reversed – Apprehension, fear, treachery, disloyalty, indefinite delay.

    So, a typical week.

    Your dogs are cute.

    • Not Adahn

There was a tiny boxer pup in a sweater at the park this morning.

      • Penguin

With lots of holiday red and green, no doubt.

I’m surprised Lily doesn’t like being brushed. I’ve known dogs that would run towards their master when they had a brush in hand.

      • Not Adahn

        It surprised me too.

      • Tundra

Lol. I’ve never had a dog that liked brushing. Tolerated, yes, bit never happy about it!

    • R C Dean

Seeing as my successor shows up Monday, and I have ten (10) days left in the office before I retire on 12/31, I feel like this card is a miss at at least as far as work goes. Which is where I would expect to find treachery, disloyalty, etc.

      • Penguin

As much as you might be looking forward to retirement, you could still be apprehensive about the life change.

        Congratulations, by the way.

      • Mojeaux

OMG NO WAY! I thought you were going to have to tough it out for another year or two. That’s FABULOUS! Congrats!!!

      • kinnath

        Congratulations.

Have you decided on staying in-country or going off-shore?

  4. DEG

Apprehension, fear, treachery, disloyalty, indefinite delay.

    Sufficiently shitty.

    • PieInTheSky

betray someone first thing on Monday to get it out of the way

  5. PieInTheSky

the dogs look like they need more brushing.

    • Not Adahn

She does NOT Like being brushed. In fact she attacks anything resembling a brush, which means I have to put her in a different room if I’m going to use a broom.

      • PieInTheSky

you should send her to girl with the dogs for a grooming.

  6. dbleagle

Aries: 6 of Cups – Past and of memories, looking back, new relations, new knowledge, new environment- So you are saying biden is putting Aries folks in the DIE Education Camps via choo-choos?

    • Penguin

Why do you think he was working so hard to keep the trains running?

    • Penguin

I like the gun in the photo – as both a factor in sizing the steaks, as well as a warning to others not to steal them.

    • Mojeaux

What is that? Looks the .380 I bought (and sold).

      • Sean

        M&P 9mm compact

      • Mojeaux

If I were going to carry, that looks like something right up my alley.

      • Tundra

I have a Shield (very similar). It’s a great little gun.

      • Mojeaux

I have very small hands and a very small purse and not a whole lot of mammary material to hide a bra holster.

      • Tundra

Look at the SIG 365, too.

      • Gustave Lytton

It’s a great time for small size autos in 9mm (and .380 somewhat).

      • Not Adahn

We now live in a world of micro-9s.

    • Tundra

      Nice!

Prime tri-tip salting in the fridge. Ksuellington has a coffee rub that I want to try, so I hope he shows up sometime today!

      • PieInTheSky

Ksuellington has a coffee rub that I want to try – these euphemisms

  7. Mojeaux

Taurus: 3 of Swords reversed – Mental alienation, error, loss, distraction, disorder, confusion.

That would be my medical coding course. I swear I’m not smart enough to do this job. My brain doesn’t work that way.

    • dbleagle

Those two statements don’t flow from each other. Just because your brain doesn’t work that way does not mean you aren’t smart enough.

      • Mojeaux

I will rephrase. My brain doesn’t work the way a brain needs to work to make a decent living doing something useful and/or in demand.

      • PieInTheSky

doing something useful and/or in demand. – there’s your problem. start a fake crypto exchange steal a few million profit

      • Mojeaux

[Serious] I missed the boat on dogecoin because it was a joke coin, and didn’t expect anybody to take Elon seriously.

      • Ted S.

You could set up an OnlyFans.

      • PieInTheSky

I did that but only made 20k a month so I quit.

      • Mojeaux

Not that I haven’t thought of doing it…

      • Ted S.

You could also do erotic cross-stitching.

      • MikeS

        X-rated cross-stitch patterns!

      • Mojeaux

        Done it.

      • EvilSheldon

Fisk unedited/self-published romance novels on YouTube. You’d make a fortune.

      • Mojeaux

Whoa. That’s brilliant. It would never have occurred to me.

      • EvilSheldon

When you’re living in a solid gold house on your private tropical island, send me a bottle of booze or something. 😉

  8. Animal

Libra: The Chariot reversed – Riot, quarrel, dispute, litigation, defeat.

Yeah? My life at the moment involves none of those things.

    • PieInTheSky

I can sue you if that helps

    • Not Adahn

Are you sure about your birthday?

  9. Tundra

What a beautiful group of pups! I love that last pic of Lily and Marley.

Leo: 6 of Wands reversed – Apprehension, fear, treachery, disloyalty, indefinite delay.

    I kind of expected this.

  10. Lackadaisical

“Virgo: 9 of Wands – Strength in opposition, delay, suspension, adjournment.”

My flight got cancelled, so this checks out.

    • Tundra

      Bummer. Weather?

      • Lackadaisical

No idea. There’s no weather on either end.

        I’m guessing planes or staff.

  11. Not Adahn

I finished Wednesday and can give it a thumbs-up. I think it finished stronger than it began. Yes, the protagonist was plot-armored to hell and back (especially relationship-wise) but at least the waif-fu went away. And refreshingly the director had read Chekov at some point. No ass-pulls.

    • Brochettaward

I missed it when Wednesday Adams had a history of hand-to-hand combat. Maybe I’m just not caught up on the lore here.

Why was there ANY need to have scenes of her character getting into physical fights with anyone, let alone male characters?

      • Semi-Spartan Dad

I’ve been rewatching the movies with the kids and Wednesday sword fights with her brother in the first and kills a bunch of kids (not shown on camera) in the second. Violence and fighting is a part of her character, granted it’s more in a serial killer than an action hero type way.

    • Tonio

I’m part of the way through, and like the series more than I thought I would.

MILD SPOILERS: S1E3 features an antique store with an impressive collection of taxidermy tableaux of the sort Banjos often uses for the featured image when she does links. Favorite line – “would you prefer I liked horses and boy-bands?”

      • Not Adahn

And I approved of the store being named “Uriah’s Heap.”

    • kinnath

I completed it this weekend. I was much better than it needed to be for target YA audience. I quite enjoyed it.

    • EvilSheldon

Everyone says I would like Wednesday. I dunno. Is it worth signing up for NetFlix and buying a TV?

      • kinnath

        probably not.

Throw in Arcane, and you might be getting close.

      • Not Adahn

Why would you need to buy a TV?

      • Mojeaux

I watched a half season of Dr. Who on my phone while waiting for my son to mow lawns.

      • EvilSheldon

I’ve tried watching videos on my phone. I hates it.

      • kinnath

A decent monitor and sound system on a computer should be fine

  12. Tonio

Paging Grumbletarian – did you ever get your Glibs email / password issue sorted out? WebDom said she did a thing for you. She’s the only one with admin rights at that level (I think).

  13. Mojeaux

As we all know, I don’t like dogs, but that shot of the woods with the stream and the mossy rocks is lovely. Pinterest-worthy, in fact.

    • Not Adahn

That’s why I still live here.

      • Ted S.

The job has something to do with it, too. I assume you can’t do chip fab at home.

    • Not Adahn

I expected “Gene Luke” to be a mispronunciation of “Jean-Luc” that would undo a false identity.

      • Mojeaux

Naw, his identity gets unraveled the usual way when Dot and Marina see something they oughtn’t to have seen.

      • Ted S.

I thought Gene wanted them to see his dick. It is a romance novel, after all, isn’t it?

      • Mojeaux

I guess there is more than one possible “usual way.”

  14. l0b0t

Regarding a topic in the earlier thread, IIRC, the Seminole Nation and FSU have a longstanding relationship whereby not only does FSU pay handsomely for use of the Tribal name but they also provide full scholarships for Seminoles who graduate from Florida high schools and the costumes worn by Chief Osceola (FSU mascot) are all hand crafted by the Seminole Nation for the university. Back in the early 1990s, AIM activist Russel Means came and spoke on campus during homecoming weekend. He had his mind changed about the relationship between FSU and the Seminoles after being heckled challenged by Seminole Nation students in the crowd.

    • Penguin

I remember that. It’s possible I may have attended the talk.

    • Lackadaisical

Why would you need to pay them off to use the name?

Does Notre Dame pay Ireland a fee?

  15. juris imprudent

    Cause for anxiety regarding money

Oh my does that spot the wife.

Past and of memories, looking back, new relations, new knowledge, new environment

    Hmmm.
