Saturday evening, yep they’re links, links

This sums up my feelings about soccer.

The Babylon Bee sums it up beautifully, as usual.

We are definitely moving into winter here, so that means College Football championships. This is a good Saturday.

But, we must have links!

He’s a good boy.

Bro takes his golf a little too seriously.

I think OMB caught a case of the Ye.

This whole thing is a bunch of junk.

If we can’t have the SMOD, this is acceptable.

And she’s hot.

Okay, back to football. Peace out Glibbies!

    Hiya, Spud!

    Lots of snow yet?

At publishing time, no one had understood a word Mr. O’Houlihan had said and switched the channel over to real football.

    That’s flawless.

    • Spudalicious

Mountains for sure. Only occasional dustings on the valley floor.

We are supposed to get snow on the overnight.

It’s a Saturday, and other than wanting to play more Midnight Suns, I’ve got no plans for tonight. So here’s the Zoom/Happy Hour/Geek session for tonight, which will kick off at 20:00 Eastern.

Getting a good buzz here. Will have to stagger home soon (on beer #4).

Get a crowler and crush it on the way back. 😉

      • LCDR_Fish

Not tonight, but I will look at growler fills for the future.

      • Nephilium

One local bar got a crowler machine, and didn’t train most of their staff that they were for too go only (illegal in the state to consume to go purchases on premise). Several people were buying the crowlers (as they were about a dollar or two less then buying two pints) and cracking them at the bar. They were informed of this issue after several days of this.

I will happily treat any glib that makes it up this way. I love this joint.

The wicked hangover I had until this afternoon is a clue that I probably overdid it last night. My tolerance is shot.

Friday night input from earlier decades would probably put me in the hospital today.

Heh. My old drinking partner and I were talking about how both of us can not deal with a hang over anymore. That, plus the restless sleep, fuck me up for days now.

Panning the Twitter Files: they don’t have a single smoking gun

Says someone who for 5 years has no doubt touted every single Trump attack as the walls closing in!

    • Lackadaisical

Don’t we already have smoking guns from the government asking them to censor plenty of stories? How many smoking guns do you need?

      • rhywun

        Yeah, that was my thought.

Of course, you could have video of Joe holding an actual smoking gun with Zuck’s or Jack’s corpse in the background and nobody in DC would give a shit.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

It should be sufficient evidence for censored parties to sue the federal government for violating their rights under the first amendment.

        “Should” being the operative word.

      • Brochettaward

There were Hillary emails where her staffers literally stated that they were arranging special meetings with Hillary for Clinton Foundation donors and that they wanted favors from her, and that wasn’t a smoking gun of corruption.

We have Biden on film bragging about getting the prosecutor who was investigating the corrupt oligarch paying his son a million a year, and that doesn’t prove anything to them. He even threatened to withhold money (which I’m fairly certain neither he nor the president had the actual authority to do) if they didn’t do what he wanted. That is…quid pro quo. Then they actually went and impeached Trump for a far more nebulous accusation of quid pro quo where he broke no US laws whatsoever.

There is no amount of evidence that can be presented, no matter how clear, that they won’t try to spin away. It’s what they do in any and all circumstances, and they’ll latch onto the smallest, dumbest shit to go after their enemies.

Utah was going to get the Rose Bowl win or lose. TCU’s coach is begging to stay in the CFP, and really is their case worse than Ohio State’s? Would it make sense for Ohio State to be in the CFP if Michigan loses the Big[we can’t count] Championship?

It’s stupidity driven by greed. The only thing missing in this is FIFA, although the Bowl committees could probably teach them a thing or two.

      • Ted S.

They have a smaller fan base, so yes, they have a worse case.

    RE: the Twitter info dump.

So it looks like the left has settled on “Twitter was just censoring Hunter’s dick pics, why are Republicans in favor of revenge porn?”, and the never-Trump “right” is going with “lol Biden wasn’t even in the government when this happened so nbd.”

Similarly. Dr Drew has hinted at this recently, but didn’t catch any appearances by him in the tv trailers – he’s mentioned it in more detail…but for a 60+ yr old – compared to the others, this might be interesting.

Trump is such a sack of shit. Yeah, let’s throw the Constitution overboard. This guy can’t leave the political scene fast enough.

    • Don escaped Texas

      • R.J.

        Maybe a few fandagos

    • Brochettaward

What is the constitutional remedy if its proven there was a fraudulent election?

To be sure, Trump’s argument is stupid. While the Twitter dump showed there was blatantly unconstitutional behavior by Democratic politicians, it was hardly the sort of fraud or behavior that you could even remotely justify overturning an election. I’m firmly in the camp that there was a lot of fraud in 2020, but suppressing a news story isn’t grounds for overturning an election.

But if it was proven an election was stolen, Trump is actually right. He didn’t say we need to tear up the constitution for good and get rid of it, but someone who was 100% proven to have stolen an election needs to be forcibly removed from office. And there is no constitutional way to violently overthrow a sitting president. Impeachment would be an unlikely and frankly unfair scenario.

So yea…if there was proven fraud, as in vote stealing, that overturned an election, Trump is right. Constitution doesn’t offer remedy there and needs to be put on hold.

  13. Brochettaward

I find it rather interesting that Taibbi talks about how there were a number of messages from other Democratic lawmakers to Twitter asking them to censor more heavily, but the only messages he actually chose to post were the one that kind of sort of making the Democrat look good.

I know some people here are fans because he criticizes the absurd bias of the media, but his reporting was shit there. And I’m kind of skeptical as to why he would hold back like that…couldn’t be that he himself is still a fucking lefty.

    • DrOtto

Could be a slow roll. Let the left get on record, then clobber them with more that contradicts what they previously said. Not that it’ll matter, they don’t think they’ve done anything wrong regardless.

  14. R.J.

Unless there was nothing significant to report. Maybe you are right- the reporting was shit. What if there was nothing better to report?

    • Brochettaward

He flat out tells us that there a number of other messages from Democratic lawmakers. He presumably saw them personally. So why not post them?

If they didn’t exist or he didn’t see them, why would he report it?

      • R.J.

        My only thoughts are:
        1. He is lying, leading people on.
        2. It is not in his best interest to say so.

I cannot see any other reason to behave such.

In earlier times I used to go to a laundromat next to a bar. I could time the machines around the time it took to drink a beer. Clothes in Wash, drink a beer, clothes in dryer, drink a beer. Clothes done and folded, drink a beer. Laundry day was always fun.
