Saturday evening Links

by | Jan 21, 2023 | Daily Links | 309 comments

This would definitely improve the game.

It’s been a strange week. I’ll leave it there. Thank god we have Division playoffs this weekend to distract me. History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.

Shall we do some Links?

The circumstantial details here do not say good things about this dude.

‘Murhica.

Gen Z epidemic?

Color me surprised.

This is kinda cool.

Okay. That’s my phone it in Links for the week. How about a little Southern fried rock and roll?

  1. Mojeaux

So speaking of sleep, my tinnitus is really out of control today. Not sure why. Anyway, I take Tylenol PM to sleep (Benadryl by itself wires me up). In a choice between insomnia and tinnitus, I’ll tell you. I’ll take insomnia first.

    • Brochettaward

      Congratulations on your First, Mo.

      • Mojeaux

I learned it from you, Dad! I learned it from watching you!

      • Brochettaward

        And I’m proud.

      • MikeS

        First!

      • Brochettaward

Go out to your yard, and get a switch. Beat yourself with it. I can’t be bothered.

      • MikeS

        Too cold, brah

      • Brochettaward

Just be glad it isn’t one of the more Firstlical of punishments.

      • MikeS

No, I mean it’s too cold outside. And dark. Not doing it.

      • Sean

You could get eaten by a grue!

    • Drake

Mine’s been bad lately too. Last time I went shooting it really flared up even though I was wearing earplugs. I immediately ordered some better ear muffs for next time.

      • Mojeaux

Last night I had my headphones on, listening to some music super loud, which was stupid.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Muffs AND plugs are the way to go. Also, never ever take aspirin, that’ll really make it go nuts.

      • Mojeaux

Aspirin is the worst, but Tylenol and ibuprofen also will do a number on you. It’s a side effect of all of them.

      • Count Potato

Tylenol isn’t an NSAID. First time I’ve heard it cause tinnitus.

Benzos work for both insomnia and tinnitus.

      • Mojeaux

It is true that Tylenol isn’t an NSAID. Liver damage isn’t the only thing it does.

I ONLY take Tylenol because I have a delicate gastric system that eats itself if aspirin or ibuprofen arrive. I haven’t had aspirin or ibuprofen in a couple of years. But I take Tylenol every night and my tinnitus is getting worse.

        https://www.ehealthme.com/ds/tylenol/tinnitus/

      • Mojeaux

I am not interested in benzos. I took 1 Xanax one time and it took about 3.42 seconds to knock me loopy and then drop me on the bed for hours. I just can’t deal with that kind of loss of control.

      • CPRM

        What dosage was that xanax?

      • Mojeaux

        0.5 mg

      • CPRM

Hmm. I know I’m a big guy and all, but it’s always taken 30 mins or more for me to feel any affect, and I usually need at least 3 times that to even notice anything. Then again, I don’t think I’ve ever had real Xanax, only the generics. I know there is a difference between generic Vicodin and the real thing. The generics don’t do anything for me, but the real thing I felt like I was laying on a bed of feathers.

    • The Gunslinger

I have tinnitus worst in my left ear that doesn’t even work for actual hearing. It’s no fun.

    • KK the Porcine Pearl-Eater

Gawd I hate tinnitus. I feel ya.

    • Tundra

      I have it, too.

They both suck. This week has been an absolute insomnia clusterfuck. I ordered some Doc Parsley’s sleep formula. I will report back.

I had a shot ton of tests, including an MRI, to figure out wtf was going on. No luck.

Do you have any hearing loss in that ear?

      • Mojeaux

Do you have any hearing loss in that ear?

No. Or at least, not yet. Too many years of heavy metal in my yute, too.

      • Tundra

My ENT thinks it was a virus that killed mine. If it was music I should have been deaf 20 years ago.

      • Mojeaux

I can pinpoint aspirin as most of the cause of my tinnitus.

      • Chafed

Does Doc Parsley’s old fashioned formula include codeine?

      • Tundra

        Lol. No.

But I’ve heard from a bunch of people that it is solid. I’ve tried a bunch of pharmaceutical products and I’m done. THC kind of helps, but not consistently.

      • rhywun

So no “Harrelson’s Own”? Those commercials crack me up for some reason.

    • kinnath

My wife went to the hearing center for tinnitus. They tested her hearing and she came back with hearing aids.

Tinnitus is a brain problem. They program the hearing aids to play soft ocean sounds at a very low volume. It helps to train the brain to stop trying to find sounds where none exist.

My wife started getting relief from the tinnitus within days. It is now gone in one ear and nearly gone in the other.

When she takes the hearing aids out at night, she uses a cheap sound machine from walmart to play ocean sounds all night. I have been sleeping better since then. Best bang for the buck.

      • slumbrew

        Stupid brain.

      • Mojeaux

Okay, I’ll try ocean sounds. Rain and crickets don’t do it for me.

  2. Brochettaward

The circumstantial details here do not say good things about this dude.

There’s no real details. I have no problem with him going to fight in Ukraine if he believes it’s worthwhile. Or if he just wants to kill some Ruskies.

    • Spudalicious

But he had been AWOL since 2019, after an arrest warrant was issued.

      • Brochettaward

The timelines do not indicate he deserted to fight in Ukraine, but nothing in the article indicates why he deserted. I will reserve judgement on that. Does not seem to be a matter of cowardice.

      • rhywun

The US was using him for other purposes in Ukraine – there was no AWOL.

        *spitballing*

      • slumbrew

I’ve become so cynical that I instantly had that thought. Sheep dipped.

      • Brochettaward

Considered it, though I’d think they would just sweep his death under the rug rather than even acknowledge it. And presumably there was a warrant out for him if he deserted in 2019. They’d have to go back and fabricate that.

We have guys on the ground in Ukraine. Not sure if this was one of them. Definitely possible.

      • MikeS

It was a Dirty Dozen kind of thing. But they got him off the street instead of out of prison.

  3. Drake

Guessing that the Navy is doing that guy dirty. Probably a lot of other guys dead from natural causes coming home from the Ukraine soon.

  4. rhywun

    ‘Murhica.

“He made it very clear he had no intention of letting it move anywhere or hiring anyone to start the agency,” Krueger explained.”

This may be the best explanation of why he got me too’d all of a sudden.

      • Chafed

I think being an egomaniac is a better explanation.

  5. Nephilium

It’s a Saturday, and I’m here at home. So I’ll be kicking off the Zoom/Happy Hour/Gabfest at 20:00 Eastern.

    • KK the Porcine Pearl-Eater

I’ve been pre gaming with the neighbors

  6. Brochettaward

Jaguars are averaging 6.6 YPC. Etienne 6.5. Of course, they’ve given him the ball 8 times through 3 quarters and are putting the game entirely in the hands of their shaky QB.

    • Brochettaward

And Lawrence is averaging an absolutely putrid 3.9 YPA…

    • Lackadaisical

I do agree they should have run more. If you ever had a chance to beat the Chiefs…

  7. dbleagle

I must admit a 4 point game in the 4th qtr is not what I was expecting. I thought this would be a blow out by half time.

    • Brochettaward

Mahomes is a shell of himself at the moment.

      • Spudalicious

He’s got less than two wheels.

I’m so damn glad portable video cameras weren’t a thing when I was a kid.

      • MikeS

        Right?! Good grief.

    • westernsloper

Last winter some dood drove his snow cat out on a lake near here. They recovered his and his buddies bodies the following summer.

    • Lackadaisical

Some is these are so stupid, like, the ice is clearly already broken up, or extremely thin and melting… What did they think would happen?

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Alcohol was likely involved on a few.

    • Fourscore

I always waited a few days after several other people had driven on the ice. I always drove with no seat belts on, door open, window down. Mostly I liked to fish smaller lakes and walk out.

    • Tundra

As a Minnesotan, that made me laugh.

      A lot.

  9. Raven Nation

Chiefs would be better doing squib kicks…

    Ha!

  11. R.J.

At the Apple store. My 7 year old Macbook blew a key. Hoping it can be fixed easily. Just told it isn’t covered under the lawsuit. Arg.

    • R.J.

Nope. No can fix. I am not paying $500 to fix it

      • Sensei

Bummer. Of course a 7 year old win pc would be so slows as to be unusable.

      • MikeS

Haha, yeah. You keep drinking that Kool-Aide.

      • Sensei

My son is the only Mac user in the family.

If you don’t update windows it will work on the generation it was released with. But after updates, patches and the latest virus programs watch it slow to a crawl.

Desktops are generally better than laptops in my experience.

/s guy with 7 pcs running win 7, 10 and 11. Add another 3 if you include my wife and my work machines.

      • Lackadaisical

        This is true.

      • rhywun

My son is the only Mac user in the family.

        Long experience with both.

I prefer one, but the other one is more useful.

      • Sensei

My wife has a an older Mac laptop as well. Still chugging along, but I think it EOL for updates.

        I don’t touch it.

I’m not anti, just no interest.

      • Nephilium

/is currently still gaming on a 4 year old Windows PC.

      • Sensei

Mine is also 4 years old, but new 3080 GPU.

      • Nephilium

Still running with an eVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super. Some games will no longer run at max graphics.

        I’m fine with that.

      • rhywun

I have the laptop version of the 3080 – working out pretty well. I don’t play super graphically-intensive games but I do want to keep playing new stuff for some years.

Only problem is Windows sometimes wants to choose the “integrated” graphics which is shit for games. And some many games don’t allow the v-sync thingie which is supposed to fix tearing.

As opposed to Macs, where the few games that are actually advertised to work, work without issue.

      • MikeS

It’s almost never a fair comparison, because the Apple products are loaded with matched, top of the line components while a Windows machine can be anything from a smoking super computer to a cheap piece of shit that barely works right out of the box.

      • robc

The problem isn’t with the hardware, but the OS you are choosing to run on it.

      • Count Potato

Depending on the model/year, a $200 battery replacement from Apple includes a new keyboard.

    • slumbrew

      Saturday night news dump

      • dbleagle

It seems as though the “there there” is definitely expanded to there as well.

Team Blue keeps ignoring that these are biden’s VP era documents which means they have been improperly stored for a minimum of six years.

      • slumbrew

Worse than that: “ some of which were from the President’s service in the Senate”

      • Chafed

I’ve noticed that too. The Presidential Records Act gives Trump a plausible reason to have his documents when he left office. I’m not aware of any law letting Biden as Vice-President take records with him. Unless I’m missing something, it’s a slam dunk Biden broke the law.

      • slumbrew

Again, buried in the story is that some were from his time as senator. Not even part of the executive branch at that point.

      • Chafed

I noticed that too. Now I want to know how, as a senator, he obtained classified material and was allowed to take it.

    • rhywun

LOL this is so obviously a political operation.

      • Spudalicious

Oh, hell yeah. And people think their vote actually matters.

      • MikeS

Right? I voted for you to send me a bottle of your best whisky, but the fix was in and here I sit drinking sub $100/bottle liquor. Sad!

      • Ted S.

        He only drinks whiskey.

      • MikeS

Dammit. I still get the spelling mixed up.

      • Lackadaisical

        Spud wants to destroy democracy.

      • Spudalicious

Yes, I do. We’re descending into the mob mentality stage of democracy.

    • MikeS

The FBI’s search of Biden’s home comes five months after the FBI obtained a search warrant to search former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago. That search, however, occurred because federal investigators had evidence suggesting Trump had not handed over all classified materials in his possession after receiving a subpoena to turn over classified documents to the National Archives.

So, Trump had documents for months, and the Archives knew he had them. That is a much more serious situation than Biden having documents nobody knew he had for years. Am I following correctly?

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Not to mention the VP can’t declassify at will as the President can.

      • MikeS

I guess Obama made a dictatorial pronouncement executive order that the VP can declassify any document he classified. The articles I’ve seen fail to leave out the part about he can only do it if he originally classified them. And, as Juris Imprudent and Adam Schiff will gladly tell us, going thorough the bureaucratic theater of getting some lackey to stamp them as declassified is super fucking important, so I don’t see how Biden can get out of this.

Which of course is the point. He’s being shown the door.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Shit, at least Trump took them on purpose; this is just rank incompetence.

      • Lackadaisical

Biden knew he had them, but was hiding them in plain sight?

Have to assume their ability to be accessed without anyone knowing was on purpose.

      • Lackadaisical

‘The FBI search was done with the consent of the president’s attorneys, people briefed on the matter said. The FBI also previously picked up documents found at the residence, which the Biden team disclosed last week.’

This is the part I want sure about, so he withheld or didn’t know about 6 documents? Wtf, they gave you warning so you could get rid of everything and you still let them find more?

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

I like to think he was using the docs for random things around the house: Napkins, paper towels, extra stuffing in the sofa cushions, a big bin of paper to light the fireplace with- all classified documents. It’d be hard to account for all of that.

      • Brochettaward

Let’s not kid ourselves. Biden took them on purpose, too. Obama has classified shit he isn’t supposed to, as well. Bill probably uses a classified folder of documents for a coaster.

They all take shit when they leave office, and it wasn’t really a thing to go after people for it until Trump. Hillary had classified material on an unsecured email shoulder and the FBI basically shrugged and said what do you want us to do about it…

They are only going after Biden for it now so they can ditch his ass for 2024 and they had already set the precedent with Trump.

      • MikeS

Exactly. I bet all the congress critters clutching their pearls (and the ones who aren’t) also have unauthorized classified info at home, or at a bare minimum have verbally passed classified info along to others.

    • Grumbletarian

So if Brandon resigns and Commie-la ascends, doesn’t that put Kevin McCarthy in as VP? Isn’t that how it worked with Ford?

      • Sensei

Nixon appointed him after Agnew resigned.

      • Chafed

        And Congress confirmed him.

      • Gustave Lytton

And Ford was the minority leader.

  12. dbleagle

It looks like “The Eddie” will occur on Sunday. 10’s of thousands will go to Oahu’s North Shore and watch on local TV. It is the largest sporting event out here. What is the Eddie? It is a big wave surfing championship. These crazy men and women will be competing on waves that must have 30+ feet of wave face. Tomorrow the expectation is for 40 foot waves. If the proper conditions aren’t generated the contest is CX. That last one was in 2016.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eddie

The power in this water is immense. Last week the same location hosted the “Pipeline Championship” with around 20 foot wave faces and two professional surfers ended up hospitalized. These waves will be twice as big on average with the surfers looking for larger than average waves with a good shape.

In a bit of irony these beach is known as a great family beach in the summer when the swells don’t come from NE. There is an annual sail race to this bay in the summer and the anchorage area is inside the reef that causes the break.

Here is some footage from the last Eddie conducted.

      Excellent! Good stuff.

    • MikeS

Fucking cool. How do they score a coemption like that? It looks like pure chaos.

      • dbleagle

I have no idea. A friend of mine tried explaining it to me and it seems to be a mix of wave height, length of ride, cool turns etc. performed, not falling, and what the chicken livers reveal.

    • Raven Nation

I never learned to surf but, for me, it is the coolest freaking sport in the world.

    • dbleagle

I just returned from Germany. Nobody even asked to see a Covid Card when I entered. The only restrictions I encountered were you were mandated to wear a mask on a bus/streetcar/train and that only had about 50% compliance. If “zee Germans” can only muster 50% compliance then they are clearly through with the drama.

      • MikeS

Yeah. I’m preparing to go and everything I’ve seen says nothing to worry about. I wonder:

        When was his trip?
Did Germany require it or did the Tesla factory require it?

      • rhywun

If it was anywhere during peak freakout I have no doubt it was a national requirement.

Never forget about fucking “vaccine passports”.

      • MikeS

Oh absolutely. That’s what I mean; if he was there a year ago, it was national*. If it was after June 22, 2022 (IIRC) than it was apparently his own factory’s rule.

*I’m not positive, but I believe they also accepted recent infection instead of vax.

      • rhywun

If “zee Germans” can only muster 50% compliance then they are clearly through with the drama.

        Nice.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

All of San Francisco needs an exorcism, hope he’s a hell of a priest.

    • MikeS

Nancy Pelosi, her daughter said, felt “guilty” that her husband was injured by a man who was looking for her.

“I think that weighed really heavy on her soul. I think she felt really guilty. I think that really broke her. Over Thanksgiving, she had priests coming, trying to have an exorcism of the house and having prayer services,” Alexandra Pelosi told the New York Times.

      Haha. Oooookay.

      • Lackadaisical

‘ I think that really broke her.’

But not all the babies she supports being killed.

      • MikeS

Right?! She’s such a devout Catholic that she’ll have priests over for prayers and a fucking exorcism, but she thinks killing unborn babies is a sacrosanct right given from God.

She did buy that personally, but her spending habits are lunatic.

I think she spent $20k on houseplants this past year. It’s bonkers.

      • Mojeaux

Does she have some kind of mental illness to go along with the evil?

      • Scruffyy Nerfherder

It’s definitely compulsive. I’ve figured out her pattern.

She researches a particular area and finds the most “vintage” or esoteric item she can. She then obsesses over it for a while before buying a few variants of it and then most of it never comes out of the boxes. Literally. She had thirty pairs of designer boots and shoes squirreled away at the office that has never been worn. She’s been hoarding expensive unworn clothes at our parents house, they didn’t even realize it.

She is most definitely not in control.

      • Ted S.

Were those boots made for walking?

      • Chafed

Sorry you are dealing with this.

      • Gender Traitor

So sorryy, Scruffyy. Does her daughter have a stable parent in the picture?

      • MikeS

$20k on houseplants?! I’ve been in conservatories that probably didn’t spend that much on plants.

      • Scruffyy Nerfherder

Believe me, I had no idea that you could spend $6500 on a houseplant. But you can.

      • Count Potato

“I think she spent $20k on houseplants this past year. It’s bonkers.”

        WTF??

    • Mojeaux

I could have fuck-you money and I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on that kind of shit.

      • Scruffyy Nerfherder

        Exactly

      • Fourscore

I have a couple relatives that have gotten P’ o’ Attorney over their parent ‘s money. In both cases it was because the parent wasn’t competent in money handling. In both cases I’m confidant it was the right thing to do and it’s not like it’s a lot of money but SS for the most part.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

We’ve had to hide my mom’s checkbook because she just keeps writing checks to charities that send her mail. Most of them are legit as far as charities go, but you don’t need to send a check to everyone who sends you junk mail, and you don’t need to send a check every couple months. And because she’s one do many mailing lists, the important things like bills and dividend checks get buried in all the crap she gets. The checkbook is like a drug to her. She even tried to get my son to try to find it for her.

      • Chafed

        Oy.

      • Scruffyy Nerfherder

Yeah, that definitely happens with old folks. Seen it multiple times myself.

    • MikeS

Damn, Scruff. I just can’t even. I really feel bad for you, and especially your folks.

      • Scruffyy Nerfherder

Thanks, I’ll be fine. My financial bottom line just got a lot better.

But my mother is not handling it well and dad is just pissed.

      • slumbrew

I imagine it’s the betrayal more than the money. Heartbreaking.

      • Scruffyy Nerfherder

They would forgive her if she tried to reconcile, but she’s excommunicated herself. I guess avoiding the situation suits her better.

      • Mojeaux

Meh, I’d go bury myself in shame also.

    • Tundra

Family businesses are great until they aren’t.

Sorry, Scruff. I’m not far behind you.

      • Gender Traitor

        😳

  21. Chafed

This game has gotten painful to watch.

    • Spudalicious

No kidding. I just watched an REM video.

      • MikeS

        Prost!

      • rhywun

        😨

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

        Everybody hurts sometimes.

      • MikeS

Awesome tune. What was the product?

      • slumbrew

They played it when rolling to commercial during the game.

      • Tundra

Wa that what it was? I wan’t paying close attention – just love the song!

      • slumbrew

Yeah, I perked right up when I heard that… harmonium?

      • Tundra

More than meets the ear, apparently:

        https://www.songfacts.com/facts/spacehog/in-the-meantime

The opening tones were sampled from a song called “Telephone and Rubber Band” by an experimental British group called the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. The section sampled is a recording of a phone line when wires get crossed, along with (as the title implies) the sound of a rubber band. Langdon told Songfacts:

“I was about 12 when I started in that band, and we just played and recorded in my friend Paul’s bedroom. Paul is a few years older than me and he had an educated recorded collection, shall we say, and one of the artists that he introduced me to was the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. They had a song called ‘Telephone and Rubber Band.’

Every now and again when you made a telephone call in the UK, you would get a crossed line while you were calling someone. It’s the sound of the phone ringing and then the sound of the phone being engaged at the same time. I liked it, and it just stayed in my head. I knew it was one of those things.

      • MikeS

I had no idea he married Liv Tyler.

        I mean, I don’t really care, but I don’t remember hearing that.

      • slumbrew

That’s super-cool; now I’m hearing it in my head mashed-up with Pink Floyd’s “Young Lust”; the ring is partly the same tone, I think.

      • Tundra

Yeah, I had no idea either.

        She’s pretty cool, too.

      • MikeS

        Pink Floyd’s “Young Lust”

I haaaaate that the operator “knows” he’s going to hang-up. “This is the United States calling, are we reaching…” and then he hangs up. After she stops talking.

      • rhywun

        Goddamn server errors.

Anyway “Telephone and Rubber Band” is in one of my favorite Aussie films I can’t link but it’s called Malcolm.

      • slumbrew

        Shall we geek out?

*places magazine on lap to conceal erection*

      • Gustave Lytton

Two possibilities: it’s blanked out during editing or the operator has a visual indicator on her console.

MF tones are melodious. I could listen to those all day long.

      • MikeS

Their label and topic of the song reminded me of these guys. Kick ass band and the drummer is now a woman.

      • Tundra

Not unless he got bottom surgery.

        Good band, regardless.

      • MikeS

Like I said, the drummer is now a woman.

      • MikeS

And was long before the current transteria.

      • Chafed

I respect anyone who goes all in.

      • Count Potato

“Not unless he got bottom surgery.”

        That seems an odd criteria.

      • Tundra

        I have high standards.

I give Blaire a pass though.

      • MikeS

Odd that someone who calls themselves a woman has a vagina? I get his is your hobby horse, but come on.

      • MikeS

        *this

      • Count Potato

“Odd that someone who calls themselves a woman has a vagina?”

Well, no, almost all women have vaginas.

Most MTF are non-op though. Transitioning is mostly about gender expression.

      • MikeS

Transitioning is mostly about gender expression.

        You mean mental illness.

      • Count Potato

        “You mean mental illness.”

        No, I do not.

      • MikeS

You should. Having a penis, but being quite certain in your head that you are actually a female, is a mental illness. And there is nothing inherently wrong with that, but pretending it’s normal is not healthy for the individual or for society.

      • Mojeaux

Please let me know if I’m wrong. I hear “gender expression” and it sounds to me like, “I want to look like a [boy/girl], so I will make myself look like one.” Is that right? I’m not being snarky. I’m lost in all these terms and phrases.

      • slumbrew

I saw them live, with God Lives Underwater opening. That was a good time.

      • rhywun

Wow that brings back memories of drunken me and buddies just after we moved to NYC.

Youtube is serving me Young Turks after that for some reason. Yaaass!

    • rhywun

So the post-game riots are going are going to be extra lit tonight.

      • slumbrew

I always counter ‘Boston fans are the worst’ (which isn’t without merit) with, “Incorrect – Raiders fans. And Eagles fans. “

      • rhywun

Goddamnit my editing was so careful so careful

      • slumbrew

        It was special, so special

      • rhywun

I’m gonna go get the papers, get the papers.

    • Spudalicious

      Ahem, those are *our* mercenaries?

    • rhywun

Whee – watching WWIII unfold in real time is eye-opening.

      • Scruffyy Nerfherder

This difference is “terrorist” has just become a useful label for governments. E don’t declare enemies anymore, we declare “terrorists”.

The implication being that these people are enemies of all humanity and we can drop all legal limitations in the pursuit of them.

  22. Q Continuum

To show support to the People’s Glorious Freedom Fighters, the Ministry of Truth reminds that the capital of Ukraine has always been Keeeeeeeeeeev not Keeeeeeeeeev. Further, anyone caught referring to it as Kiev will be summarily executed.

  23. Count Potato

Well, this game officially blows ass.

Good thing there are only two minutes left.

  24. Tundra

    Jesus.

The Eagles are ridiculous. I’m kind of glad the Vikings lost last week. Being ass-raoed is a sad way to end the season.

    • Tundra

      Raped, even.

      • dbleagle

Fuck. Did the Eagles look that good or the Giants that bad?

Hopefully there will be two good games tomorrow. Plus I can follow the Eddie during commercial breaks.

There is no way in hell I would try to attend live. There are basically two roads (one from the north and one from the south) that will be parking lots and there is limited parking so people end up walking for miles along the road to reach a view. The TV will have better views, no crowds, and people explaining what I am seeing.

      • Tundra

I’ve pretty much given up live sports. Hi def and the ability to bail is fucking great.

  25. CPRM

A documentary was made about Boofer Kavanaugh, it had to be made in secret, lest the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy silence the TRUTH!

Justice was made in secrecy over the last year, with NDAs signed by everyone involved. The project was self-funded by Liman, making his documentary debut. He told the Hollywood Reporter that the supreme court holds “special meaning” to him, his father having been a lawyer and activist and his brother a federal judge. He was frustrated by the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh that “never happened”, and sought the help of renowned documentary producers Liz Garbus and Herdy, both with specialised experience of films about sexual assault allegations, to do the work that he saw as unfinished, if barely started at all.

At the Q&A, he expressed the importance of secrecy, speaking about “the machinery that’s put into place against anyone who dared to speak up” and an awareness that this machinery would be turned on the film if it was made public.

“There would have been some kind of injunction,” he said. “This film wouldn’t have been showing here.”

It was SO FUCKING SECRET, no one would ever know!

Kavanaugh denies the allegations. He turned down requests to take part in the documentary.

It was SO FUCKING SECRET Kavanaugh knew and could do nothing to stop it!

    • slumbrew

Maaan, I am saddened to know Liman is such a douche. He’s directed some of my favorite movies.

    • Chafed

Great. Now we have Kavanaugh Derangement Syndrome.

      • CPRM

Maybe they will finally explain why Ballsy Ford has two front doors. I don’t think that was a euphemism.

    • rhywun

      I WANT TO BELIEVE

    • MikeS

This reminds me of Tim Robbins and Sarah Sarandon standing on stage at the Oscars, talking to millions of people on TV about how the Bush administration was denying their First Amendment rights and using the power of the government to silence them.

      • CPRM

So what’s the deal with German sex metal cruise? Are you still going to be able to come here and sell Hyperbole a STEVE SMITH drink holder? If you don’t come will your brother still come? Will Judge Nap be here?

      • MikeS

The cruise likely won’t happen, but I am going to Germany…at the same time as your party. I don’t know if NoDakMat will go, but I doubt it. I still want to try and get some STEVE SMITH drink holders your way, we’ll see how that goes. Judge Nap…man, who knows about that guy.

I’m sorry little buddy. I really am. But I can’t turn this opportunity down.

Wow. For sure. That would not be a gneiss way to end a day.

        We’re having negronis in consolation.

Ok, it was just because we watched some italian

        Also, stupid autocorrect should know
both “negroni” and “autocorrect”, but no,
