The new statue on the New York City Courthouse.
Normies are all WTF, dude, but the artist clears it up.
The recent focus on reproductive rights in the US after the Supreme Court overturned the landmark 1973 decision that guaranteed the constitutional right to abortion in the US, comes to the forefront. In the process, it is the dismissal, too, of the indefatigable spirit of the women, who have been collectively fighting for their right to their own bodies over generations.
In recent opinion, the public regards the court as partisan and political in how it exerts power. The luminous figure is also a nod to RBG – as seen in the detail adorning her collar. With Ginsburg’s death and the reversal of Roe, there was a setback to women’s constitutional progress.
Got it? The squid-armed horned lady is clearly Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the pagan demon thing is a demand for more fetuses. But this is also a sculpture from life; that’s what burst out of Ruthie’s flesh shell when her soul was dragged down to hell.
Travis Lewis killed Martha McKay 23 years after she forgave him for killing her mum
Described by its website as “stately” and “elegant,” Snowden House, with its marble floor and sweeping staircase, was the perfect setting for a murder mystery.
In fact, the grand building, situated on the water’s edge of Horseshoe Lake in Arkansas, US, served as a location for a movie adaptation of one of John Grisham’s crime novels.
Tragically though, the home has not just seen fictional murder, but also the real thing. It started in 1996 when Sally Snowden McKay, 75, and her nephew, musician Joseph ‘Lee’ Baker, 52, were found shot dead inside the historic property.
It was understood they’d disturbed a burglar and the suspect – 16-year-old Travis Lewis – had shot them in fright.
Sally’s big-hearted daughter, Martha McKay, believed he deserved to be rehabilitated. A practising Buddhist, she forgave Lewis for what he’d done and began writing to him in prison.
According to Crittenden County Sheriff Mike Allen, she felt empathy and sadness for Lewis, given how young he was at the time of the murders.
She also accepted Lewis’ allegation that another person was involved in the crime. “I think it was her mission to find out what happened to her mother, and to find out if someone else was involved,’ Sheriff Allen said. She even visited Lewis in jail, despite her family warning her against it. “None of us would okay it except for her.”
When Lewis was eventually freed in 2018, after serving 22 years, Martha quietly gave him a job. By this time, she had moved to Snowden House, having bought it from the rest of the family. She had renovated and restored the run-down property, with all its ghosts and dark past, into a high-end bed-and-breakfast and wedding venue. It meant that Lewis, 39, was literally back at the scene of his crime with Martha, locally known as the Lady of the Lake, demonstrating the ultimate forgiveness.
History was repeating itself as they quickly discovered a body.
Martha, 63, was found at the top of the marble stairs wrapped in a blanket. She’d been stabbed.
Praise be to the Ginsburg Fetus Goblin! Our prayers have been answered and this bear is finally wearing pants!
Hey, everybody. It’s the last four years of my failed marriage!
“Best Imitation of Myself”
Ben Folds Five
Ben Folds Five (1995)
I feel like a quote out-of-context, withholding the rest
So I can be for you what you want to see
I’ve got the gesture and sounds, got the timing down
It’s uncanny, yeah, you’d think it was me
Do you think I should take a class to lose my southern accent?
Did I make me up, or make the face ’til it stuck?
I do the best imitation of myself
The “problem with you” speech you gave me was fine
I liked the theories about my little stage
And I swore I was listening, but I started drifting
Around the part about me acting my age
Now if it’s all the same, I’ve people to entertain
I juggle one-handed, do some magic tricks and
The best imitation of myself
Maybe I’m thinking myself in a hole
Wondering who I am, when I ought to know
Straighten up, now time to go fool somebody else
Fool somebody else
Last night I was east with them and west within
Trying to be for you what you wanna see
But I can’t help it with you, the good and bad comes through
Don’t want you hanging out with no one but me
Yeah, but it’s all the same, it comes from the same place
And if my mind’s somewhere else, you won’t be able to tell
I do the best imitation of myself
Yes, it’s uncanny to see, you’d really think it was me
It’s the best imitation of myself
I do the best imitation of myself
That statue has some good birthing hips.
Birthing it aborting hips?
Birthing demons, aborting / sacrificing humans?
As all pagan idols should.
You know if our “elites” don’t want most of the country to see them as neo-Satanists, maybe they should stop doing their damnedest to look like ones.
“There’s nothing satanic about me” she whispered into your ear as your nostrils picked up slight traces of sulfur.
Haha. Same thought. I couldn’t make a more demonic statue if I tried.
Oral sex from her would shatter your pelvis though.
I’m more worried about the handy.
Butt stuff would be interesting though
You think she takes it up the brass?
If successful you should bronze it.
Wait, that statue’s for real? Yeah, we are totally not ruled by a bunch of Lucifer worshippers who like to in your face it with a smidgen of plausible deniability. That’d be acceptable, barely, over at Deviant Art.
Dammit… what the Wizzleteated one said.
The golden bull down on Wall Street was at least subtle. They no longer feel the need to restain or hide their devil worship.
I don’t get why she is allowed to be pantsless.
They might as well stick a statue of an aborted fetus up there. It would be more honest.
In ProgWorld, everything is everything and nothing can remain untouched by the correct ideology.
You know — I don’t think I’d be invoking Ben Folds when it comes to broken marriages. I like the man’s music — but he sure f’d up with his ex-wife multiple times according to all reports (but hey, “You don’t know me at all” and all, according to Ben… which is true and all — but doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s very likely more than a bit of a douche in real life). 😉
That said — mine is very much That’s when I know… she’s going to be pissed when she wakes up… for terrible things I said to her — in her dreams. I suspect we’ve all been there.
That statue looks like something out of a bad seventies horror film about witches.
Or feminist tentacle porn?
Like a whole lot of contemporary “art”, it’s bad art, but a whole lot of people will say it’s good art because it comes with the right political message.
Womanos: The Tentacles of Fate

Why does SF‘s fiction make more sense than SF‘s links?
Uh….I…well, you know…

I was thinking more “Swissy’s Adventures in Wonderland”
Obvious answer — “Because truth is stranger than fiction”.
SF Fiction is Truth.
Like quarantine the planet “because-you-gave-the-guy-too-much-truth-serum” level of truth.
That’s a disturbing question because I have the same answer as Swiss.
Donald Duck on suicide watch.
Normies are all WTF, dude, but the artist clears it up.
I didn’t know courts were supposed to be adorned with political messaging.
Place the ten commandments in her tentacles and it’ll be gone within the week.
As with most things, the left is simply stating plain obvious Truths, and it’s the people that question it who are being Political.
It meant that Lewis, 39, was literally back at the scene of his crime with Martha, locally known as the Lady of the Lake, demonstrating the ultimate forgiveness.
Incredibly naive, or merely a slow learner?
Which one?
You have a point there. I mean, you kill one person? Anybody can have a bad day. Kill two? Well, this is Memphis we’re talking here. But kill a third, after doing time for the first two? Maybe it’s time to admit that the problem might be you.
At any rate, the story has a
happygrimly satisfying ending.“Deputies today responded to an alarm at the historical Snowden House in Horseshoe Lake,” Allen said, in a statement. “Two deputies that arrived found an open back door and upon clearing the house located a possible suspect who jumped from an upstairs window and ran to a vehicle that he drove across the yard and got stuck in the yard.
“The suspect then jumped from the car and ran and jumped into the lake. He was observed going under the water and never came back up.”
According to Allen, rescue teams from the sheriff’s department and Arkansas Game and Fish used sonar equipment to locate and recover the body of Lewis, who had drowned.
I guess you could call him a glub-glub-glubertarian.
Goddamn him for living up to the stereotype!
He screwed up his boating accident though… although I guess he did get rid of things that are potentially lethal that way.
Judging by her family’s reaction, she was incredibly naive.
Have you seen the bear without his pants?
We truly live in the most absurd times. The end of Roe v Wade is an existential assault on women, but allowing biological men into women’s bathrooms, locker rooms, prisons, and sports aren’t a threat so shut up.
Transphobe!
The issue is that there aren’t any principles, and it both sides are stripping off any pretense of having them.
A political platform is just a random basket of positions that don’t go together, and that can change at any moment. Defended vigorously as if they were all life or death issues.
The dumbest take on the Crowder/DW feud and no, it’s not Brochetta parroting everything Crowder says:
Right-Wingers Like Steven Crowder Need Billionaire Funders Because Their Ideas Are So Bad
And then the funniest part:
As a fun drinking game, go to opensecrets.org and take a shot every time you find an organization that receives funding from Soros or an OSF-affiliated grant provider.
Fun, but very short.
A shot of Coors Light and you might actually get through the whole list.
Jacobin? Now do CNN, MSNBC, the NYT, Tom Steyer, George Soros, the Young Turks, and etc to the high heavens.
Jacobin shorter: “Why did ex-Bezos-lady buy that right-right rag “the Atlantic” and not us???”
I think I lost a couple of IQ points.
I was saying what Crowder was saying before he even articulated many of those points. And my arguments are the exact same as what a whole host of independent content creators have said.
Crowder’s show is worth significantly *more* than $50 million to include his salary and production costs. Your argument was “Lol look at how much money he turned down.” Then it was mockery for releasing a phone call from someone who claims to be a “friend” but who was looking to screw his “friend” over with a godawful contract.
Of course you continue to misunderstand everything. In the simplest terms for you, he is not a victim for receiving an unfair contract offer. He is an asshole for intentionally not disclosing in his first video that the original offer was $50M when he was reading all of the terrible penalties he might incur, let alone that he would bend over for big tech for $120M (read: he’s not that principled). IN ADDITION, yes the phone call thing was fucked up. No one believes they are friends, but he records Jeremy a month after registering the stopbigcon domain and months after the negotiating stopped.
Then he expects you to believe he is doing this for the up and coming talent. Of course, he’s going independent and needs to produce new content/new talent in order to do so. Purely selfless of course.
I can’t “misunderstand” what is never articulated in the first place. You mocked him for turning down $50 million and suggested it was ridiculous to compare it to slavery. The Daily Wire’s response video left out a number of crucial details. They have engaged in blatant dishonesty and tried to pilfer a key member of his staff after negotiations fell through. They only threw out the $50 mil number to get people like you to do exactly what you did which was to attack him for being greedy as if he isn’t producing a show with a staff of over two dozen employees on a daily basis.
The amount of fines and fees they had means that it’s entirely plausible that Crowder could have ended up *owing* money to TDW if things went wrong. He’s getting 65k to produce each episode, and docked 100k if he misses one. He was being asked to produce far more content per year than any network talking head.
Crowder doesn’t need to associate or host any other talent to make money and it would be more headaches for him. I highly doubt he can run his own media company and continue turning out 4 shows a week consistently on top of his other segments. Tim Pool thinks that Crowder can pull in over $100 million on his own. Pool actually think Crowder can get to $140 million. On. His. Own.
You are making it out as if any level of planning of forethought equates to dishonesty. “Jeremy” most definitely did play up the friend angle in his video, most definitely did try to imply that $50 million would be going directly into Crowder’s pocket while glossing over he’d be covering his own production costs, and most definitely did admit that he lowballed Crowder
I don’t care if Crowder has ulterior motives regardless, The Daily Wire’s terms are absolutely fucking unacceptable for a conservative outlet claiming to be fighting big tech. They are neutering their own “talent.” If Crowder actually does end up hosting other content creators and gives them more freedom, that is a win for anyone who despises big tech and wants more conservative/libertarian leaning voices out there.
The Daily Wire is spitting in your face and telling you to lick it up. Crowder making absurd amounts of money doesn’t harm me in anyway. The Daily Wire’s dishonest bullshit does.
Hey good pitch, send it over to creators@crowder.com because he is looking for more shows to boost his subscriber base.
THAT FIEND!
And if those creators get better deals than the nonsense being offered by TDW and it works for Crowder, more power to him and better for the audience.
Ram horns? Definitely nonbinary.
Ewe would think so, yeah.
It’s shear lunacy.
Don’t everyone get their panties in a twist.
Way to horn in on the joke.
This is going to spiral out of control.
When Lewis was eventually freed in 2018, after serving 22 years, Martha quietly gave him a job. By this time, she had moved to Snowden House, having bought it from the rest of the family. Too far past childbearing age. He daughter or granddaughter will need to hire him again.
Those 31 M1 tanks we are sending to the Ukraine – they will be manufactured, not pulled from existing stock. I assume special made without the good armor or anything other classified equipment. So the Ukes won’t see them for many months if ever.
https://www.wnd.com/2023/01/biden-greenlights-delivery-american-tanks-ukraine-however/
That many tanks means almost nothing anyway. A destroyed or captured one will make a nice monument at the Kremlin though.
Never mind the time for training. It ain’t like switching from one sedan to another.
Just load it up and stand behind the breech while it’s fired.
Those tanks run on fossil fuel. BAN THEM!
SAVE THE PLANET.
Good
That means DC is at least fractured on the Ukraine issue and not totally insane.
WND isn’t the most reliable source.
I not only remember when it was WorldNetDaily, but I remember what it was like before Joe Farrah went off the deep end.

RaytheonLockheed gleefully looks on
Nah, fuck off.
Yesterday, Senator Feinstein — alongside Senators Murphy, Blumenthal and others — reintroduced a federal Assault Weapons Ban and legislation that would raise the minimum purchase age for assault weapons to 21. Even as we await further details on these shootings, we know the scourge of gun violence across America requires stronger action. I once again urge both chambers of Congress to act quickly and deliver this Assault Weapons Ban to my desk, and take action to keep American communities, schools, workplaces, and homes safe.
Did she really? I want to see her debate the bill on the floor of the Senate.
She would be on the floor, literally
Yes, Count Potato, she is thiccc.
Nope, can’t see her ass.

Oh yes you are right. Got my moneyed wives mixed up.

Why not 25? Or 50?
10 y/o to fuck, 14 y/o to vote, 18 y/o to purchase weed, 21 y/o to purchase tobacco, 30 y/o to purchase alcohol, and 75 y/o to purchase semi automatic machine assault gun weapons. It all makes perfect sense and if you disagree you are racist.
I’ve long suspected this, but today’s top story is proving once again that my lack of commercial success as an artist is due to a dearth of psychedelic drugs.
For you or your would-be customers?
For me. No way my current imagination would come up with something like that.
My imagination is why I DON’T take drugs.
‘Got it? The squid-armed horned lady is clearly Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the pagan demon thing is a demand for more fetuses. But this is also a sculpture from life; that’s what burst out of Ruthie’s flesh shell when her soul was dragged down to hell.’

Furries vs feminists: a new nadir for the trans lobby
Cripple fight!
Both groups accuse SfW of being ‘transphobic’ and ‘far right’.
We’re close to having serious discussions about furryphobia.
‘Praise be to the Ginsburg Fetus Goblin! Our prayers have been answered and this bear is finally wearing pants!’
I’m not even sure if this is real or SF is punking us. Must have the same communications dept./contractor as M&Ms.
Thank you for that correction.
I have done my best to remain ignorant about that kid in Virginny who shot his teacher, but apparently he was known by all and sundry to be severely damaged goods. And yet, he was kept in school because “mainstreaming” makes activists feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Keeping retards as pets shows their compassion.
Is that about it?
No way my current imagination would come up with something like that.
The work itself, or the backstory?
Yes.
What you need is more weapons that you don’t know how to operate.
Ukraine’s next push will be for Western-made 4th generation fighter aircraft after securing at least three battalions of Western-made tanks, an adviser to Ukrainian defense minister Oleksiy Reznikov said Wednesday, according to Reuters.
Kyiv secured commitments of at least three battalions‘ worth of American and German tanks Wednesday after months of asking for the heavy battle equipment and fierce discussions among Western officials. Ukraine has advocated for deliveries of Western fighter jets as well as Soviet-era MiG-29s since the early months of the war, according to CNN, but it will step up efforts to bolster its aging Soviet fleet with newer western aircraft following the victory over tanks, Reuters reported.
“The next big hurdle will now be the fighter jets,” Defense Ministry adviser Yuriy Sak told Reuters. …
F-16s are American-made “multirole” fighter jets, and more than 3,000 aircraft are operating in 25 countries, according to manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
U.S. fighters would be a “dramatic upgrade” to Ukrainian air capabilities and likely force the Russians back, Hudson Institute senior fellow Rebeccah Heinrichs told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “16s are fantastic fighters. They’re fast, maneuverable and especially relative to the old Soviet ones the Ukrainians have [been] flying.”
All they need is the next most expensive weapon, and the Russians will be defeated.
They need to develop retaliatory weapons to turn the war.
Next month they’ll be demanding we send them nukes.
That does seem to be the trajectory here.
Which is almost funny since if they’d just kept what they had in the first place, maybe the world wouldn’t be in this screwed up mess. Bleah.
Or maybe, stay with me here, the Ukro-Nazi nutbags shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near WMDs.
That’s just crazy talk!
Kiev has already publicly demanded America launch a first strike nuclear attack on Russia.
Oh for fuck’s sake, fuck off already you grifting vampiric cookie mice assholes!
That’s an impressive streak of words.
He is a true vulgarian.
I thought the Ghost of Keev already shot down every single Russian plane ever manufactured.
Since we have hung our balls on the Ukrainian flagpole, I suspect they will eventually demand manpower
How effective are a handful of F-16s against modern AA defenses?
With the Ghost of Keev on the stick? Child’s play
I can see why the A&W mascot is now wearing jeans. I mean, Smokey has been sporting dungarees since 1944.
It’s really the bear minimum.
It is all about the new generations. The press used to be fine with it, but now they got called out by a cub reporter.
I don’t know, an old grizzly reporter might have done a better job.
The press used to inform, now all they do is panda to one group or another.
Is it the bear necessities though?
If you’re looking for evidence that we’ve become too sensitive as a society, this is ursine.
The A&W mascot is a root bear.
In my feature script, there is a pirate named Rootbeard.
All your genes are belonging to us.
At last week’s World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel declared he would “like to have mRNA capacity on every continent.” His remark at the annual gathering of global elites should come as no surprise. After all, the pharmaceutical giant has been developing mRNA gene-editing technology for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for over a decade. Still, to test things out on a large scale, the duo lacked “the need and the opportunity.” Two years ago, in an extraordinary windfall for Moderna (and Pfizer), the COVID-19 pandemic provided the perfect fast-tracked opportunity to introduce novel mRNA technology to the masses. Without question, introducing mRNA protein encoding around the planet has driven the strategic plans of both DARPA—a covert agency of the U.S. Department of Defense—and Moderna for over twelve years.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
The military industrial complex is just a myth.
The bigger myth is that they are all patriotic Americans.
The reality is that it was always the penicillin-industrial complex.
If they’re trying to ensure I never see or trust another “medical professional” again, they’re certainly doing a damned good job.
And if no crises are forthcoming, just create one.
My family woudl not characterize my mohter’s death in quite those words. You fucking evil sick fucking bastard monster fucks. I can only hope all involved die as slow and terrible a death as she did. Mother fucking bastards.
I know the feeling Mike,
Giving SDF-7 a run for their money. And I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment
I’ll happily give MikeS the props for that one… much better motivation than my just being completely sick of the entitled bums in Ukraine.
Yours was more creative, though. “vampiric cookie mice” warmed my heart.
DARPA is covert? Someone should notify them.
DARPA is not, but they definitely are involved in a lot of covert shit, depending on which agency sponsors the study.
“the COVID-19 pandemic provided the perfect fast-tracked opportunity to introduce novel mRNA technology to the masses”

And that statue needs to be dynamited.
And I never noticed that the bear was full Daffy. Actually, even with a gun to my head I would be hard pressed to name the A&W mascot.
I would have failed to even know that A&W had a mascot.
I didn’t even know they ever had one and my grandma used to take me for A&W root beer floats all the time when I was a child. I just assumed a frothy overflowing with mug was the mascot.

Is that a literal statement?

Kind of…
Don’t get me started on drinking bottles of sweat.
Weird, but at least it’s not baijiu.
It’s actually not that bad. Tastes like watery sweetened milk/yogurt drink. The concentrate works great for a whiskey sour. And Pocari Sweat is pretty much grapefruit soda.
Interesting. I saw this clear near-beer review on that site:
https://soranews24.com/2018/06/21/clear-near-beer-is-here-we-taste-test-japans-new-zero-alcohol-zero-color-brew【taste-test】/
I got some of that out of my faucet yesterday. It was decent.
The All Free is pretty good for a near beer. I like it when working with tools on the weekend or anything I really don’t want to mix with a BAC.
I find it hard to believe that so many of ’em have used “Salonpas”.
I remember the A&W megaphone drink containers.
Not sure if Frostie the Elf wears pants.
A side note — life is weird when you know more than a search engine does.
I would have expected some real corn dog… but that would be fucking goofy.
Donald.
See, I’m so flustered by that statue that I forgot Daffy was al fresco.
But there isn’t just ONE. There are two. See link below.
And I never noticed that the bear was full Daffy. Actually, even with a gun to my head I would be hard pressed to name the A&W mascot.
I vaguely remember their Goldilocks-themed hamburger menu. I haven’t been in an A&W in a long long time.
I don’t recall the last time I went. The nearest now is about a 90 minute drive.
There’s one about an hour away that I’ve been going to since forever and the food is pretty tasty. Still have the phones at the tables. The newer locations are not nearly as good.
When I was a kid there was a A&W that was located near the city park complex and the city beach. There was a walkup window where all the kids would show up after playing all day. For $0.72 you could get a quart of rootbeer.
Then you’d sit around with your idiot friends and do dumb things to impress the girls who were also there.
I’m impressed. Vice nailed this.

Plus roughly 4x cost overrun. But that was a given.
Modest proposal to cut some of that time
A complete farce but wow, epic graft.
NYC already has the highest cost per mile or rail of any place in the world. This did not disappoint.
I remember riding the N train in Queens over some works for this project every weekday for seven years, thinking by 2005 or so, “Why isn’t this thing done yet?”
California only fails due to not completing its High Speed Rail.
“ Redundancy and operational flexibility are important for a railroad that moves hundreds of thousands of people per weekday, especially as we look to a future of more frequent and severe storms due to climate change.”
I’m impressed they were able to get climate change into the article. No LQWERTY though.
Well, it is Vice.
I perused some of the sidebar stuff and it also doesn’t disappoint at shoehorning klimate krap into everything.
How VICE make come up with article ideas

LOL. The soy milk is a nice touch.
Maybe a ring would help
The Gallup survey of roughly 67,000 people in 2022 found only 32% of workers are engaged with their work compared with 36% in 2020.
——-
There’s a growing disconnect between employee [and] employer. You could almost equate it to employees becoming a little bit more like gig workers,” says Jim Harter, chief workplace scientist at Gallup and author of the new report.
Gig work by its nature doesn’t lend itself to loyalty or long-term relationships between employees and employers. Workers may feel less motivated to put their best selves forward.
“In the context of high-performance customer service, retaining your best people, that’s a problem,” Harter says.
Having actively disengaged workers can be highly detrimental to companies. Employees who aren’t getting most of their workplace needs met often share their negativity with other people, Harter says. That could bring down company morale.
The world is full of shitty bosses and shitty employees.
Gallup sells their survey and follow up services under the engagement rubric to employers. Basically, their claim is successful companies have more engaged employees so obviously just need to make sure your own employees are engaged and you too will be a success.
When I was working at a Big German Company, we’d always argue about worker mobility. The Euros would all talk about how crazy it is that workers are slaves to their job in America because of healthcare. Then you’d point out that so many of them are tied to to their jobs by pension plans. Try walking away from a job after 12 years and giving up on your pension.
Fucking work is work. If it was fun, the employer could charge you to show up and sit in that cube.
Remote work is surely partially to blame. I feel a bit disconnected and I go into the office 3 days a week.
Knives Out ruined cinema
Interesting listen. Thanks!
I had to look it up, and it seems Knives Out was released in 2019. By that time, cinema had been ruined for nearly two decades already.
The problem is really basic; going to the movies isn’t magical anymore.
And as soon as someone (netflix, hulu, prime, etc) figured that out, it was all over.
By the way, don’t bother with the second Knives Out. So dumb. So bad.
Interesting take on the A&W…some say parody of M&M…which looking at the framing, might very well be.
https://redstate.com/jimthompson/2023/01/25/aw-root-beers-parody-of-mars-spokescandies-is-spectacular-n693740
I mean, I don’t think that’s even in question. It’s obviously making fun of the M&M thing, and getting a little free piggyback publicity.
I guess cause I didn’t pay attention to the M&M thing
I guess I thought it was A&W trolling M&M’s all along. Isn’t it obvious or am I missing something?
Gallup sells their survey and follow up services under the engagement rubric to employers. Basically, their claim is successful companies have more engaged employees so obviously just need to make sure your own employees are engaged and you too will be a success.
Something tells me people who work for giant corporations might find it hard to really feel engaged, as a general rule.
They’re good at their value added grifting. They don’t ask directly if you’re engaged, they used a series of questions to come up with a bullshit picture, then upsell periodic surveying to see how those numbers change and services to make those changes, etc etc.
And by engaged, it’s stupid shit like how much you believe in the company koolaid or if you’re achieving personal satisfaction from your work.
Don’t worry — there will be a survey where if not enough of you say you’re downright enthusiastic it will impact your bonus. No incentives to lie there…..
(And yes, I fucking hate that survey with the passion of a thousand firey suns… no, I don’t have to be an ardent advocate for the company to do my goddamn job… I’m not an ardent advocate by nature, you fucking marketing major think-everything-is-a-customer-experience-survey assholes…)
I have worked for small companies, and gigantic companies. And in the end, there really isn’t any difference. You are still working.
Dog ate a houseplant and puked on the oriental rug..
Now he’s all happy.
And “oriental” has apparently been deleted from Apple’s built in dictionary.
Its Oh Lee ental, spell it right,
And by engaged, it’s stupid shit like how much you believe in the company koolaid or if you’re achieving personal satisfaction from your work.
“I perform my designated tasks, and they pay me. No performative familial devotion necessary.”
Dude, you have to put the “cult” in your business culture.
Get with the times.
It’s cargo cult management theory. All you need to do is ape the right companies.
Wife: You mean to say that you’re financing our trip to Sea Island by taking bets on underground MMA fights? All you told me was that you were going to try scrapbooking!
Me: Well…

Federal Reserve Vice Chair Lael Brainard is a top candidate to take the most important economic position in the White House.
The central bank official is considered one of the strongest contenders, among a host of others, to succeed Brian Deece as director of the National Economic Council, according to sources familiar with the matter. The Washington Post first reported the story, citing three sources with knowledge of the process.
——-
Brainard is one of multiple candidates being considered and interviews for the position are continuing, according to a White House spokesman familiar with the matter.
For her part, Brainard could garner support from progressives who are in favor of strong bank regulation and easier monetary policy. She also has helped lead the effort at the Fed to ask banks to submit plans to handle climate-related events, pushed for a central bank digital currency and was part of a policy switch that amended the central bank’s approach to employment to make it both full and inclusive.
Along with all those efforts, Brainard has spearheaded updates to the Community Reinvestment Act, legislation favored by Democrats that encourages bank lending to low-income Americans.
Too bad she’s not black.
In 2012 parlance, she has encouraged “predatory lending.” And she will call it just that when it blows up again.
It’s only predatory when the bad credit risks turn out bad. Before that it is expanding opportunity in under-served communities!
Today in two bits of news that will surprise no one (but the second might increase the irritation at the lying mendacious bastards, granted) around here…
“Hands off our NHS!”
I’m guessing the real number is exponentially higher.
Excess death numbers in the UK are running 15+percent; as high as 30. Can’t really ignore that. Some have tried to ascribe it to people not getting their statins on time. Will be interesting to see how far under the bus they are willing to throw the NHS under the bus to avoid seeking additional insight into excess mortality.
Suck it losers! While you guys are watching the Super Bowl drinking some pansy beer, Minnesodan’s will be watching the game while drinking a manly Chili Cheese brew
Barf.
ABOMINATION!!!
Suitable for that demon up above
You go right and ahead and enjoy my share.
I’d have guessed Minnesodans would be playing electronic pull-tabs.
Hormel should be sued for calling that canned shit, “chili”. It makes Chef Boyardee taste like 4 Star Italian fine dining.
I didn’t see a link to the story about the evil statue. So here it is, from a super-lefty paper:

How do they know? Did they hire a biologist to inspect it?
The artist does say it’s a woman, but like that’s just her opinion! The truth is, whatever you see is your meaning and the idea that there is some meaning independent of that is just patriarchal, racial-supremacist oppression.
Presumably the headline writer is a biologist?
Always a bridesmaid, never a Firster. Woe is me.
It’s almost certainly due to your musical proclivities.
First time, huh?

Those aren’t women! Those are patriarchal constructs!
Lady Justice has never been utilized anywhere.
Right? WTactualF.
Oh. First time atop that specific courthouse. Good grief.
And on the grass. The second statue with the octopus legs is on the grass. Both horrifying things to see when going i for judgement.
Those ones above have been atop that courthouse for over a hundred years. Since it was built.
😂
I looked at the new photos again and I’d bet dollars to donuts that the empty pedestal that the abomination was placed on, was previously for Mohammed. His statue was removed in the 50’s because Muslims objected to the physical depiction of the Pedophile Prophet. Oh boy…

I guess it’s not quite the Mohammed base because the row was moved over when it was removed. I’m surprised that there isn’t howling that the statue is on the end. Can also see in the full view that two Lady Justices tower over both sides of the building from the top.
I remember when TimeOut was the go-to for weekly events. Concerts, club listings, the works.
That was before politics invaded everything.
