That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
And you know DeSantis looks like a strong candidate (and that the idiot media hates that Musk un-gated Twitter on them) by things like:
https://twitchy.com/fuzzychimp-313137/2023/05/24/vanity-fair-compares-elon-musk-to-david-duke-in-insane-rant-over-desantiss-twitter-campaign-launch/
Morning, Banjos!
This must be because the three people with the most favorite ratings by the public, in order from first to third, are Musk, Trump, and DeSantis. And they are then followed by that nutjob Bernie which was screwed out of running by the dnc criminal cabal.
It’s basically all they have. Start off with David Duke, but don’t ramp up to Hitler too fast.
Funny how actively destroying energy independence (shooting the engine of the economy right in the fuel tank as well), calling your opponents radical extremist terrorists all the time, supervising the most embarrassing military withdrawal in US history (including South Vietnam), putting out a big welcome mat on the borders and blaming everyone else and generally making Jimmy Carter look downright presidential will do that and all….
The only thing that stuns me about polling these days is how entrenched and literal “Vote Blue no matter Who!” is… They could run Adolf Hitler’s corpse at this point, and it seems almost all the Dem voters would find a way to justify pulling the lever to themselves.
And yet Biden is polling at 65% in the Dem primary poll? People be weird, or maybe the polls are full of shit.
Both. Does it matter? They count the votes.
After they collect the ballots and vote for the people they took the ballots from, too. Don’t forget that.
Yellow Dog Democrats still exist.
What about dog faced pony soldier democrats?
“It may be Adolf Hitler’s corpse, but it’s still better than Trump.”
This is what happens when your base principles are boiled down to Orange Man Bad.
“Stunned”? Sounds like someone is believing their own bullshit. Anyone with half a brain can see this president is fucking terrible.
I came to the realization over COVID lock down that close to 40% of the country lack any analysis skills, and although many of them got through college, they contribute nothing to society.
For a percentage of the country, that doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is if they are Dems.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6wRZCV7naE
I think RFK is the litmus test for liberals. Not Dems or progressives though. If you actually believe all the things you have been saying over the last 30-40 years, about Regan, Bush, the FBI, and so on, then he is your man. If all you care about is power, than keeping Biden in place is all that matters.
Dems and Progs really do only care about power.

I suppose I should rewatch Rounders in his honor this weekend. (That movie is the only reason I recognized the name…)
I meant to post that days ago.
RIP Texas Dolly.
“New Poll Revealing Biden’s Approval Rating Leaves CNN Host Stunned: ‘Lowest for Any American President’”
Despite all the propaganda we can’t get the rubes to believe the lies? I could explain it all, but Greenwald, whom I now hear is a Nazi, summarizes it well.
They can’t even fabricate a favorable poll for Gropey. Sad!
Glenn misses the mark – in that survey in the first part, 70% of Dems believe it is all true, STILL. So the media being a subset of Dems (and the most devout at that) how can anyone be surprised that the media still believes it? And those Dems are real human beings.
This is what humanity is.
I noticed that too. While Republicans and Independents are skewing the poll, the Dems are still sucking down that Flavor Aid.
For them to believe otherwise is to admit that they are the party of bad guys.
No one wants to admit that. So, the hole keeps getting dug.
Yes, 40-some % of the total still believe there was a Trump/Russia connection and the Steele document. That’s scary.
The 3 political figures who are viewed most favorably by Americans are Elon Musk, Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis (Berne is next).
Remind me again, what is great about Bernie Sanders?
He believes in a failed economic system that a lot of people believe in, because it’s the fault of the rich that they are poor.
It’s always going to be easier to blame others for your choices than it is to admit you made bad ones…
That’s what socialism, and especially marxism, is all about..
He promises to rob anyone richer than himself to pay for free pony rides.
Specifically, in the context of how does he make the top 4 with the other 3?
Millionaires andBillionaires! From our perspective there’s nothing great about him at all, and not much for Trump or DeSantis either. That we don’t understand why people are enamored of any of them doesn’t mean those people don’t exist.
While I soundly disagreed with him on policy, and disliked him as a person, I almost pitied him when he proved so spineless as to permit himself to be bullied away from the podium at his own campaign stop by a pack of activists.
Juris is right; we do not have any real understanding of what motivates the left (and much of the right, for that matter.) But, I would postulate that his being “bullied”, as you put it, is a huge reason why he is favored by so many. That he believes in and is accountable to the “cause” is looked at favorably by a huge number of people.
Always folding like a cheap tent is why I was asking what is admirable about him.
Medicare for all is his thing, and I can see why people are drawn to it. However, AFAIK he didn’t really do much when the Affordable Care Act was passed. He didn’t force the vote when the Democrats had control, and now that they have don’t have control he finds the time to make it an issue again.
On vacation, Daily Mail — you’re writing about a US company doing something only in the US… stop being British, you wankers. 😉
But back on point — that’s got to be an interesting (in the Chinese sense) algorithm… you presumably have to allow someone who travels (maybe to a second home, staying for a month or so for maintenance/whatnot) where the rest of the family stays in the first location. Distinguishing that versus someone sharing with a sibling in a different location, etc… could be tricky. I presume it would just look at amount streamed over time in such locations and flag it if it is more than a month or two per year (which means the sibling should be able to game the system by binge watching).
That said — I think Netflix has a much bigger problem in that most of the quality content has been held back by those who produce it for their own streaming attempts — and Netflix Originals (while there have been a couple Canadian sci-fi shows they’ve co-produced so they can cut them off when they get interesting… grumble) are mostly pretty crap. And getting worse since they made the deal with the Obamas. I understand why they’re trying to claw back what they can… but if they don’t fix their content problem soon — they’re more likely to get folks to just say “F it, cancelling” even if they have lethargy.
Just my $2 (“Biden: I did that!” inflation)
“You will now be required to register your device using an MFA authenticator which tracks its location and is always on so that it knows if you are not at the registered address more than 50% of the year.”
Ok… I originally was going to say I couldn’t think of any recent Netflix Originals that I really wanted to watch. After scrolling through the lists, I did come across a couple of things (Sandman, Cabinet of Curiosity, Inside Job), The only reason I’ve still got it is the girlfriend claims to watch things on it, and there’s a couple of series that I enjoy binging on it (but I can always just pick those up in another format) such as Norsemen and The Magicians.
My wife is the only person who watches it. I am deleting it from the phone, they will not track that.
The Recruit was okay, Night Agent was okay, The Diplomat is pretty good*, Agent Elvis is good. I gave up on Inside Job, I don’t recall why. At some point I plan on watching the third season of Umbrella Academy.
*Mostly because the dialog is so sharp, particularly between the husband and wife. Clearly it is a post-Ukraine-invasion production, writers of international-intrigue pieces must be overjoyed that Russia can be written as the unambiguous bad guy again. There is a little leftist garbage hinted at, but it doesn’t whack you in the face too hard. Disclaimer, I haven’t finished it, so it could go downhill.
I liked Umbrella Academy and Wednesday. I’m sure there were earlier series I liked too, but I can’t remember them.
Oh, and Suburra. The first two seasons anyway, I didn’t finish the third.
Ugh, is it just me, or is The Magicians horrible? I mean, I am not a TV fan to start with, but that excrable show is bad even for that medium.
If you consider it a Zucker bros movie, it’s entertaining for a while. I giggled when it was revealed that the reason everyone wanted to go back to Narnia was the atmosphere contained opium.
We had our son’s account, but never watched much except The Last Kingdom, and season 4 of that wasn’t good.
I was excited when The Witcher was announced.
By the end of season one, I cancelled.
How they managed to bore me to death with one of my favorite characters being played by a good actor that kicked ass in the role is kind of impressive.
Beef was good.
They can’t be arsed to stop being British.
And maybe the people are on Billie Holiday.
“RFK Jr: “Weaponized” FBI “Tried to Destroy a Sitting President””
Them’s assassinatin’ words Bobby.
Nah, he’s safe, he has no dirt on Hillary.
* not by me, by a government agency because you’re a Kennedy. Just to clarify so I don’t end up on a list or another list. I assume there are many lists.
“Bob! McGinty is talking about the Lists! Add him to your list of list listers, will ya?”
“ADDED HIM TO THE LIST OF LIST LISTERS SIR!”
Is that the departmental list, or the amalgamated list?
It is an amalgamated list maintained by Lester Brigham in the research department. Lester’s List of Amalgamated List Listers.
Feds aren’t named Bob. They’re named Tyler and Braxton and Liam and Noah.
What? No Chip?
Chip is a boomer name. These agencies are staffed by Milennials named Asher and Mason.
RFK jr believes in conspiracy theories. He must be some kind of nut for doing so.
I’m oddly hoping for a boycott to come along that I can actually participate in. I’ve never had a Bud Light, don’t shop at Target, and wasn’t going to buy a new Ford anyway. The Gillette one’s still on, but danggit I shave so seldom that my old stock of blades hasn’t been depleted. I suppose Dick’s is all I have going at the moment.
My Reason boycott is ongoing.
If it’s like mine, it’s driven by indifference not anger.
True.
Most of the time, I’ve forgotten about them. The subject of boycotts reminded me.
my reason boycott is easy because everything I wanted from reason I get from here.
Well, the parent company of Bud Light has quite the large portfolio (a little smaller now that they axed some brands that were underperforming, and shuttered/spun off some of their craft acquisitions), and the same with the parent company of Gillette.
How many non-beers does InBev sell?
Off the top of my head, they had a canned wine (shuttered now), a seltzer line (or two), and a RTD (Ready To Drink) cocktail line. That’s not counting ciders, and other malternative type beverages they sell.
So, I’m not in danger of accidentally buying from them.
Thank you.
AB list of brands, directly from their website (TLDC – Cutwater Spirits, Nutrl seltzer, Ritas), a smaller list of brands just associated with AB here (notable ones: Leffe, Hoegaarden, Stella Artois).
Work is silly about alcohol.
🤷♂️
I bet they don’t block porn… And if they do, it is a recent thing.
We did as of 2012. Since then I’ve not been responsible for maintaining the proxy, so I haven’t has cause to check.
Ours is so touchy I can’t even get into something like Cabela’s.
Ours will let me onto TOS, but not here.
No, not the hoegaarden! Gosh darn.
The reason the Bud Light boycott has been so effective is it’s focused on the one product.
From stories I’ve read, it’s expanded beyond Bud Light to the AB-InBev line as a whole. MillerCoors, Yuengling, and Heineken have all been capitalizing on it (some more than others… looks over at MillerCoors).
Certainly lots of Very Online people have bothered to research InBev’s line and boycott other products, but the FOCUS of the boycott has been just Bud Light, and it’s been very effective.
It’s something to remember down the line, by both consumers and corporations.
Bud Light was the #1 selling beer too.
That’s just sad.
I’m not talking about the karmic retribution, or the stupidity that led to it.
It does kind of amaze me though, so many #1 sellers are also the oft-derided products. Profitable medicrity?
And you have to ask – what is wrong with Americans (with regard to liking Bernie)? Isn’t that your answer right there?
There is non point in deriding an unpopular brand.
Outside of tiny handful of craft beer weirdos, who makes fun of (or even knows about) Dixie White Moose?
Are there even any moose in Dixie? I mean, New York is the extreme south of their range.
Colorado is south of New York and we have Moose.
The beer was a play on “Mousse” as it was a white chocolate flavored beer.
And universally hated.
Dixie brewing company was destroyed by Katrina, and they had stopped making White Moose well before that. They continued operations as a contract brewery until they opened a new brewery in 2020, but they are now known as Faubourg Brewing Company.
The only Dixie beer I cared for was Blackened Voodoo and even it wasnt that good.
Your altitude makes you count as further north than your actual latitude.
There are moose in the Dixie National Forest
LIEZ!
Those are horses with fake antlers!
Oh, I agree that it’s focused on Bud Light, but AB-InBev was hoping (when this originally broke) that the people would just shift to other brands in their portfolio. Some did, but not as many as they expected.
Bud Light is doing camo aluminum bottles and giving out free (after rebate) beer now to try to slow the bleeding. One of their distributors in the south put out their own advertisement saying they had nothing to do with the ad, and were as upset by it as the consumers were. Other distributors have started leaking the amount of Bud Light they’ve been needing to do buybacks of (as it was past the “Best By” date).
Also very easy to do, just pickup a different case of light beer.
Well this place just got really gay….
Ohh, there’s Benchmade, too. Forgot about that. My EDC is still a 2550 that I got many years ago, but no new purchases.
What did Benchmade do to incur your wrath?
Coupla years ago, they posted a pic or vid (don’t remember which social platform) of how their shop was proudly destroying firearms confiscated by the local JBTs. Picture big chop-saws cutting through an 870 or something. Very big cop-sucker vibes at a really bad time to be sending that kind of anti-2Am message.
Of course there’s the “but acksually…” pedantry that they tried about having done it before, it being legal, etc. – all about the denotations and demonstrating they were completely oblivious to the connotations.
If you mail them one of their automatics without LEO letterhead, you won’t get it back. No service, no free sharpening.
Bring larceny charges against them.
I’ve been boycotting Domino’s for about 25 years. Technically my Blockbuster boycott is still going as well. I can’t think of any others that I was ever a customer.
I’ve been boycotting Avis car rentals for over 25 years. They wouldn’t/still won’t rent to anyone under 21 (but didn’t tell me that until the day I tried to pick up 3 15 passenger vans for a college engineering club trip). That was a scramble to find replacement vans.
I’ve boycotted GM since 2008 for taking bailout money.
Sony for their root kit bullshit they pulled with CDs in the early aughts.
I’ve been boycotting the NBA for my entire life.
I would be shocked if you could count the number of honest liberals on one, maybe two hands.
Liberalism is about turning a blind eye towards or even cheering on tyranny as long as it is doing what you want. The problem is eventually they will come for everyone, which is why that socialism shit always devolves in piles of bodies and billions living in misery in a new incarnation of the old feudal system.
See the poll results from Greenwald that I mention above. At best 3 out of 10 – at best.
I think the distinction is between the liberals and the progressives. And the latter are the ones we hear from, mostly. But I think the others outnumber them.
Citation please – every one of the fucking votes is party line. My wife tried to argue this the other day and the trans shit. Name one elected rep who at any point voted or voiced objection. Zero. They are lockstep.
They aren’t in lockstep, hence why RFK is polling as high as he is. But, and it is a huge butt, they progs have taken over the party. So, it isn’t that there is no support of differences, it is just that they are in the minority of the party.
But a big enough minority to block the lunatic left shit. So, no, the “liberals” don’t get a pass.
You vote for it, you own it.
progs have taken over the party
Funny because to hear them bitch about the Dem establishment it sounds so much like some people around here talking about the GOPe.
“tuck-friendly’ swimsuits”
Read that as fuck friendly. They’re not quite that bold yet but I’d imagine they’re working on it.
crotchless swimsuits
Zippers or buttons? Or just open all the time?
Velcro? Hooks and eyes for the Amish?
I am so very disappointed in the quality and work ethic of grifters these days. The way you’re supposed to run it is :
1. Write a textbook.
2. Require your students to buy that textbook for class.
But 1 is just too much work I guess.
https://nypost.com/2023/05/24/michigan-state-students-sue-professor-amy-wisner-claim-she-forced-them-to-fund-her-progressive-political-group/
Best lesson on the subject right there, I say. Progressivism is all about the grift. They should be thanking her for showing them first hand what the cult they joined looks like and how things work. These peasants got all uppity instead.
3. Update textbook annually.
“Class, my current work “Shame Reactions- an attributational perspective*” is now in the 4th edition. Dont bother using the 3rd. The material, while similar, is outdated.”
*title of an actual dissertation from a hack Psy.D Ive met.
She looks about like I expected.
I had one professor who required us to use his textbook. But he gave us each cash in the amount of what he got in royalties. I always thought that was classy and decent of him.
As someone who has had an academic book published, I’m guessing that your rebate was a small fraction of the purchase price.
Correct, but the professor had nothing to do with that part of the scam. That price would have been high regardless of textbook.
I understand that, just commenting on how little the author actually gets.
I probably had one a semester that had us buy their book – and by book, I mean that many of them were xeroxed and bound with plastic rings and cost more than actual hard cover books.
My dad required students use his text, but mostly as there was no other book on pruning and post-harvest technology since before WWII.
You Glibronies discuss this O’Keefe revelation on Fetterman and how the media is just a propaganda arm of team blue, yet? What struck me was how the premise the media is corrupt and willing to lie for the evil fucking cult didn’t even faze me anymore…
I dont understand how anyone in DC is dumb enough to keep falling for the same bit. Unless that goofy bastard just thinks he’s getting laid.
I think they are not falling for anything. They know the guy is compromised, but it is about power, and they play that game no matter what.
That’s pretty funny for a guy who pointed a shotgun at some innocent black guy. Maybe the special assistant (emphasis wherever you choose) is just shooting off his mouth?
Just got mulch for the flower beds, washed the POS Envoy, and opened a beer. This is my Saturday evening.
TALL CANS!
bitch about traffic to your coworker
I’d rather not speak to him/her/xer at all.
GLIBS WEBSITE UPGRADE POSTPONED: The special candles we need for the ritual did not arrive as planned, so the website upgrade has been postponed. Stay tuned for an announcement and try to work-around any glitches.
Is it wrong to say I’m somewhat relieved, since I missed the notice there was an upgrade?
It was at the end of my Thursday Afternoon Links last week.
Had the candles arrived on-time, today’s announcement would have been a reminder post, with followups later in the week.
Yeah, I don’t remember what I was doing that afternoon, but since I didn’t comment, I probably missed the entire links.
I was in Las Vegas, incommunicado, attending a vendor convention for a new tool my employer is considering as the new platform to build all our capabilities on.
I was probably playing Skyrim.

Have you considered some chicken bones and goat’s blood?
I always root about in the entrails of a pig.
/burnishes nails.
DeSantis will announce he is running for president during a discussion with Elon Musk on Twitter Spaces
Stupid. He should sit this one out.
It doesn’t matter. No Repub has a path to electoral college victory (barring, of course, some kind of extraordinary crisis/realignment).
Plus all the election fortification.
The Dems didn’t do anything that Repubs can’t duplicate. Unless of course you prefer to lose because you stand on such high moral ground.
I think the Dems have a structural advantage. They (or, in Maricopa’s case, an eGOPer who is indistinguishable) control the machinery in large cities, where they have the ability to manufacture votes at scale, in a way you can’t do across a bunch of rural/semi rural precincts. Often, too, the vote counting for suburban precincts is done by the big city they are attached to. That hard drive from a purple suburb takes a car ride to big city’s counting center. Who knows what hard drive gets delivered? That kind of thing.
Oh I assumed we were talking turnout/ballot-collection efforts.
Straight up fraud as has been the norm in the big cities forever wasn’t on my radar.
What I’ve read is the Pubs don’t have the organizational machinery in place to do what the Dems do. Particularly around “getting out the vote”. Most of them are still hung up on “Election Day”, after all – rightly so, in my option, but it’s losing them elections.
We’ve got purity yes we do, we’ve got purity, how ’bout you?
What’s that? We lost again. Oh well, at least we did it our way!
If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t winning?
Turning out the vote is cheating? I haven’t heard of any election law violations – just stupid election law.
One wonders how much more damage Biden and friends can do before that might change.
Why? Because Trump? Republicans need to put him aside at some point – just given his age. Why wait?
I am still skeptical of DeSantis. And like it or hate it, Trump is still the party leader and frontrunner.
But why though?
If you aren’t skeptical about any Republican there’s something wrong with you. That you aren’t skeptical about an 80s-90s Democrat leading the Republican party is most perplexing.
Who said I am not skeptical about Trump? Unlike Fauxcahontas, I have my reservations.
Get over him now or get over him later. I can’t wait for the day he dies and is valorized as the right kind of Republican by Democrats. You can even tell them now that you know it will happen and they’ll deny it; and of course they’ll do exactly what was predicted when the time comes.
I do find it fascinating how much some people just hate, hate, hate the mere idea of Trump running.
He is polling at, what, 7% higher than Biden? But, sure, through him overboard for… reasons? If he is the best the R’s have, then he is the best they have, and no amount of putting DeSantis up for vote will change that. Sure, they should have a primary, but if Trump wins, and I bet he will, then them’s the brakes. His age should have nothing to do with it, it is simply his mental state that is important in that regard. The fact that he didn’t please a bunch of libertarians should have nothing to do with it, as he isn’t the leader of that movement.
The 2024 election will be more Fortified For Democracy than the one in 2020. No Republican can win. At least Trump would make the loss entertaining.
“Inflation pummeled US household finances last year, Fed survey finds”
How many people that clearly see this happening, and more often than not are feeling the pinch themselves, lay blame for it on anything but the real causes because to admit they put the morons that are doing this in charge is too painful?
“Biden’s overall approval rating remains underwater,” Bolduan added. “That’s the lowest for any American president at this point in their first term. That’s dating back to Harry Truman.”
What was so bad about Truman?
A lot.
I am not familiar with his presidency.
Imagine Harry Reid had been made VP and then ascended to the Presidency – that should give you some idea.
And to clarify – Reid in the years before he was Senate Majority Leader.
He seized the steel mills to force them to continue production during a strike?
He sold poison milk to schoolchildren.
Im not familiar with that. Margaret Sanger’s methods still hadn’t taken hold?
I do recall that Truman was likely loaded all the time on whiskey.
Hard to know where to start. How ’bout everything in his defense policy that gutted actual functional warmaking power (see Johnson and the revolt of the Admirals) and particularly invited the Korean War? Or the Housing Act of 1949? Etc.
Yep – he fucked up by the numbers in Korea and with defense in general.
Inflation pummeled US household finances last year, Fed survey finds
I just spent $200 at the grocery store and I am positive I did not get what $200 got a few years ago.
Used to be a millionaire was a particularly rare and rich person.
Now there are a lot of upper middle class across that line because the money has gone down in value.
True, add the value of a house with a 401k there are a lot of technical millionaires who don’t feel rich.
If the house is paid off, they probably do.
If we’re on the topic of feeling rich, objectively I should feel rich or at least middle class. I make six figures, I own a house, I have paid off all of my debts, but I still feel poor because I can’t afford to do anything impulsive, lest I end up back in debt again.
Feelings, by definition, are subjective.
You should put X% of your take home into an impulse account. Planning for impulsive spending seems contradictory, but it should work. You can impulse spend on whatever you want as long as you can cover it from the impulse account.
Same. Anything more impulsive than buying a $20 or less geegaw requires planning.

Footage shows overflowing Chicago police precincts turned into migrant shelters
Shows what they think of the cops that they intend to use to terrorize peaceable people while not dealing with actual criminals. Also, it seems they are facilitating the trafficking of illegal aliens.
Used to be the police union held a lot of power in Chicago. I almost feel sorry for them now. They have to sit by and watch crime go up because the higher ups have decided rioting is just kids being kids.
Tuck friendly:
This tweet seems like parody, but other users are running with the idea that this is for that roast beef pride.
Uh huh. On a child’s swim suit.
Sure.
Target has says these are for adults.
I’ve not investigated if they are adult sized, but available in XXXS, for example.
I’ve seen credible video of somebody in the children’s section at Target, which is rotten with QUILTBAG gear and propaganda.
Including tuck-friendly swimsuits for kids.
Target is lying.
I was recently in one, the display was immediate to the entrance. I didn’t peruse but yeah, their back-peddling here is acting like it is 1993 and no one except tourist has cameras.
“roast beef pride” for the win
“Free the flaps!” is going to be a lot weirder than “Free the nipple!”
Clearly BS and everyone knows it. Containing female parts has been the basic function of every swimsuit forever.
Then why is it in the “Pride” display?
That ship has sailed.
Or yeah, should be easy to find a regular swimsuit that also says it is tuck friendly.
Funny how that hadn’t been a common aspect of swimsuits before. I mean, if it is so normal.
Target holds ’emergency’ meeting over LGBT merchandise, including ‘tuck-friendly’ swimsuits: report
Easy solution: Do not promote the trans cult agenda, especially and specifically the gender-bending mutilation of children.
You’re welcome.
Another article said they pulled product after “threats to employees”. I’m guessing “threats” were people shaking their head sadly and saying Fuck that nonsense.
I miss the good old days of “Republicans buy shoes too”.
Well, lets be honest, Repubs just want women barefoot and pregnant. So, no, not as many shoes.
RHEEEEEE! People that refuse my demand they not only just accept, but that play along, with my mental disorder, are mean.
Trash beer only sells with T&A and/or “Rah Rah ‘Murica” marketing. It isn’t that difficult.
That explanation of “people avoid it because they don’t want to get roped into a conversation” is shit. Any excuse to make the protestors look like bullies.
My middle daughter was heavily into the trans cult in high school. Now she’s 22 and says she’s over it. “It’s all over the place now.” So for her at least, she was following a trend, and that trend has run its course. I can imagine there are a lot more people like her.
That, and a whole lot of people do. not. like. this. shit. Either being told what to think, or about trans in specific.
So, how long before she divorces him and takes half his shit?
Quality teacher? Should make most people wonder if the cost they pay for college is not a racket.
Lol.
Nobody is attacking the gay community you fucking dickmunch. In fact, I am certain the biggest victim of what the deranged transgender cult is doing are members of the gay community.
“The lesson? Bullies win.”
Look in the mirror.
“Please ignore the actual physical attacks on Target (shoplifting and assaults) in my state! Look, a SQUIRREL! Waaaaah!”
And at the same time, we’re gonna claim that we’re concerned for the “safety” of our employees because those dangerous anti-QUILTBAG folks have been making threats!
What a dishonest, possibly child-grooming cunte.
Your likely next president, ladies and gentlemen.
When asked how he would seize power, Kandula answered that he would “Kill the President if that’s what I have to do and would hurt anyone that would stand in my way,” prosecutors say.
Well, he was apparently armed with a Nazi flag, and presumably showing that to anyone will cause them to curl into the fetal position and literally die.
So he is completely insane…and wasn’t really a threat…
The Missouri teen accused of driving a U-Haul into bollards near the White House expressed admiration for Nazis and stated that he wanted to “get to the White House, seize power, and be put in charge of the nation,” according to an affidavit from a Secret Service officer.
Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, is accused of ramming a rented truck into barricades near the White House on Tuesday morning. He was arrested at the scene, where police allegedly found a Nazi flag in the back of his truck. A statement by a Secret Service officer, submitted alongside Kandula’s arrest warrant, states that Kandula told law enforcement about his admiration for Adolf Hitler.
Kandula did not have explosives or weapons in the U-Haul when he was arrested, according to the Secret Service statement. He told agents that he’d planned an attack on the White House for six months, as part of a bid to “seize power,” the statement says.
…But chalk up another fake white supreme pizza terror incident. Gotta pad those numbers.
Wow. How much did the FBI pay that kid?
I do like the accidental implications of “…police allegedly found…”.
“He told agents that he’d planned an attack on the White House for six months”
The odds that the FBI was involved just went up.
Insurrectionist narrative point #1 – ‘seize power’
Insurrectionist narrative point #2 – ‘white supremist’
The odds that the FBI was involved just went up.
It all started when I met Ray Epps…
Took him six months to rent an empty U Haul? Not much of a plan there, Poindexter.
The thing I don’t get is, couldn’t they fake up something more convincing?
I guess the Whitner hoax in Michigan comes closer to what one would expect from the FBI ginning up an “attack”.
Because the alternative is this guy is just looney tunes. Which I guess is a possibility.
Remember when Time magazine darkened OJ’s picture to make him look more sinister? Now they do the opposite.
Inflation pummeled US household finances last year, Fed survey finds
could be worse you could be Argentina
“Highest-denomination bill in Argentina is now the 2,000-peso note, worth $4. Country unveils new banknote as currency plummets .”
Joining BRICS won’t save them. When they float a new trade currency, that will just be a new benchmark for the peso to slide against.
I seriously doubt Argentina would make a commodity backed currency run by Indians, Russians, and Chinese their national currency. That would mean no more printing money.
One wonders why they keep electing clowns who inflict such damage again and again. Or is it closer to “electing”?
Something tells me the socialist peronist hybrid they keep voting is actually popular because they will magically bring prosperity
Didn’t they just announce a trade deal with China that would avoid mediation via the dollar?
Bill Gates some 30 years older than Russian bridge player at time of alleged affair: report
Jeffrey Epstein allegedly threatened to report Microsoft co-founder’s affair after she met Gates at 2010 bridge event
https://www.foxnews.com/us/bill-gates-some-30-years-older-than-russian-bridge-player-at-time-of-alleged-affair-report
Honestly, what is the point of being a billionaire if you can;t get some young side-chicks
Money is always attractive — I expect she had Bills to lay.
He’s microsoft.
What’s the point of owning an island retreat with hidden cameras and underage girls everywhere if you can’t extort the rich and powerful?
Some random young side-piece is a dangerous game but one trafficked has a higher chance of taking the money and shutting up.
Gates is a sleazebag and a douchebag but she was 23. The huffing and puffing on this is ridiculous except for the fact that confirms that Epstein was running a blackmail op.
Well there is that and the fact that the MeeeeeToooo movement pushed the notion that age and wealth/power differentials basically meant that such a relationship equal rape. Unless your name is Clinton.
Andrea Dworkin says you’re excusing too much rape.
I thought Gates had a regular hall pass from Melinda. I’d be surprised if he could be blackmailed by this.
the word Footage should be changed to Meterage. This is Pie’s idea of the day.
Huh? I didn’t think you were French.
Why?
Motion picture film was invented in the US, and the US was the biggest manufacturer thereof until the end of film as the primary medium for video. We measure in feet, and sold footage of motion picture film upon which video is recorded.
Rewriting the language for political purposes is a foul impulse that should be fought.
in order to join the 21st century
From what I’ve seen, the 21st century is a cesspit of degeneracy and decay. Not something anyone should willingly join.
Burn out the 21st century with fire.
Give it time. Shouldn’t be long now.
If that’s your reason, I’ll counter with an argument for “cubitage”.
35mm film should be renamed 1 6/16″ film!
Who’s in charge?
But the realization that the party might need to supply a sizable percentage of the House votes to avert an economically disastrous default — not to mention passage in the Democratic-controlled Senate — has increasingly shaped the White House’s negotiating strategy. Aides have hardened their stance against certain GOP-proposed budget cuts and social welfare restrictions for fear of sparking a revolt among Democrats they may ultimately need to support a deal.
“It’s important that we don’t take steps back from the very strong agenda that the president himself shepherded and led over the last two years,” said Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. “What I’ve said to Leader [Hakeem] Jeffries, and to the White House, is the president has to remember that whatever he negotiates has to go through both chambers.”
Maybe Joe’s enthusiasm gap among the voters has to do with the bait and switch trick the media and the establishment pulled on them, advertising him as a rational centrist grownup who could get the country back on track. Instead, he went all in on the progressive wish list.
“What I’ve said to Leader [Hakeem] Jeffries, and to the White House, is the president has to remember that whatever he negotiates has to go through both chambers.”
I am actually okay with that statement from a member of Congress.
Evan is not doing well. Epiphany today and I may resign. I’m still going to interview this playwright today w my dad and it will be fun and easy. But I am getting burnt. The fuck. Out. AND. GOUT…has self-confirmed returned to sucker punch my pout out.
I won’t be driving today. And I’m my Father’s Son more than my older brother. He knows that if I’m pulling myself out of the game, or if I say “911” that it’s fucking serious.
Today will be easy and hard, Fuck. No tremors, though. That’s a positive. I think this is may be another example of trying to branch out too quickly. I’ve done it before. Live. Learn.
Onward. Upward. Always.
Good luck sir!
I wish you luck as well. Start looking around for something else, before you resign. That can give you enough hope to not just bounce with no income.
It’s sadly worse than that.
I belong in an asylum. Once again, I have lost my mind. I am highly unwell.

Had a chat yesterday with an idiot that told me capitalism has failed and we need socialism to fix things. Man, was this idiot pissed when I pointed out that he was basically saying was that what he wanted was North Korea, because South Korea isn’t perfect. I still remember the reaction from people that had been trapped behind the Iron curtain in eastern block Soviet satellite states when the thing unraveled. They were all flabbergasted, not by the military or politics of the west, but because we had stores that were not just stocked with goods, but open more than a couple of hours twice or thrice a week. Evil people have brainwashed so many kids that have not had the direct experience of what socialism really is like into thinking that shit is a better option, because having everyone be equally miserable and destitute is somehow mor fair.
How can capitalism have failed if we’ve never actually tried it? We’re still stuck in semi-fuedal fascism.
That statement is correct UCS. What we have today is a neo fascist system where government pretends the one with power is the private sector, while reality is that the private sector lives at the mercy of government regulations and legislation which is designed to let government pick the winners & losers. But leftists can’t swallow that red pill, and pointing that out will simply lead them to ignore you because they don’t like complexity.
the more it was tried the better it succeeded, no need for purity
same goes for socialism. The more it was tried, the worse things got. US>Western Europe>China>North Korea.
This shit ain’t complicated.
Just as what Marx described never happened in the real world, “real communism”, doesn’t mean communism hasn’t been tried unsuccessfully, time and again.
I think we need to take a hard look at ourselves when we try to make the same sorts of arguments about capitalism. It’s not our ideal capitalism, just as the CCCP wasn’t Marx’s ideal, but I’d argue what we currently live under is what capitalism is once it gets outside of books and theory.
One of the most profound art exhibits I have ever seen was a contrast of art from East/West Berlin before the wall came down. More people need to see something like that.
We are floating in a sea of stupid people.
Even Boris Yeltsin, when brought to a NJ grocery store, thought it was a Potemkin store because of the wide variety of food they had. It reminds me of Moscow on the Hudson, when Robin Williams’ character asks where the meat line is, finds out there’s no line, and then freaks out because of all the choices are too much for him.
Good reminder for us in the ‘West’ not to take what we have for granted.
Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!
Gonna be a good weekend. Porterhouses are on sale for $8.99/lb.
🙂
meat is murder. Porterhouses doubly so.
Tasty, tasty murder.
I have a NY Strip in the fridge for dinner. That’s only 2/3 of a Porterhouse though.
Only if you use meat glue to build them from two different cows.
That would be two cows and a horse.
When asked whether she could deliver the votes for a Biden-approved deal, House Democratic whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) said only: “We are going to do everything that we can to make sure the American people understand the lose-lose proposition that Republicans have forced them into.”
The Republicans forced you into spending the country into oblivion?
A bittersweet day at the TOK household today, where the youngest of the clan has her last day of high school.
Serendipitous! *Glances at next post*
I got your back, OBE. Or whoever wrote the next post.
Oh I see now LOL.
Tomorrow night teen 1 and teen 2 graduate high school. One was riding that razor thin edge of not getting across the finish line but he pulled up his boots and got it done. The other bit off more than he can chew with AP classes but he too sorted it all out and finished strong. Best news of all, they earned their ultimate goal of going to Japan for their graduation gifts.
However, Friday morning for them will be a whole different world when the terms of living at home are laid out.
Congratulations!
Has this not been discussed before graduation? Or is the reality just going to look at lot different now that the time has come?

Apropos of nothing, I’m thinking of changing my registration to Democrat so I can vote for RFK, Jr. in the (D) primary. (I live in a closed primary state). The only reason I ever changed to (R) was to vote for Ron Paul.
I’ve had the same thought. They simply won’t let him win, but a meaningless empty gesture need to be made.

I find that I am turning into one of those mystics/zen masters when trying to teach my junior engineers. I literally told them to “listen to what the tool is telling you.” Which makes perfect sense to me, but made them go fully incredulous. They can’t make the leap between “this is malfunctioning” to “how is this malfunctioning” and “what would cause this malfunction to happen?” They can’t get to the proximate cause, I don’t expect them to get to the root cause.
Try different phrasing. Unless you are talking about an actual sound the thing is making when malfunctioning that gives an indicator to the cause, I’m not hearing anything.
I am not sure the problem is in the phrasing as much as I believe the issue is the lack of critical thinking in our education system these days.
You can’t teach people to think.
Once you get to a certain point in life, I agree. Get them while they are young and teach the skill.
Sound and smell are both excellent diagnostic tools, but I’m not even attempting that.
How ’bout “pay attention to the actions or outputs of the tool. They are not random. They have causes. Consider which causes could result in the observed actions and investigate.”
That’s probably close to what I’d say.
Caveat – I am a terrible role model.
Troubleshooting is a surprisingly rare skill. I’ve told Tier 1 agents that X error is always an issue with the phone, it’s never system or agent related. For about 25% of them, each time they get the error they asked what they should check.
“If it’s always a problem with the phone, what do you think you should check?”
“I checked the agent, and it looks good.”
“Right, but the problem is always on the phone side. Have you checked that?”
“No. Not yet.”
Yeah, it amazes me how few people have the ability to remember symptoms come from something they previously experienced or were told about, and to start there.
Every so often I’ll end up seeing a ticket where someone did something insane trying to resolve an issue.
I always recognize the names as people who’ve been on the helpdesk forever. There’s a reason they’ve never advanced to more technical roles.
It’s what separates good medical doctors from bad and mediocre ones.
They are all book smart and able to memorize a zilliion diagnostic flow charts and pass their licensing boards.
The good ones understand how use the diagnostics and ask appropriate questions if the answers don’t seem to make sense.
Its not lupus.
So, I grew up helping my dad with his PI business working for medical malpractice attorneys who really just wanted to stick it to bad docs, so I have a rosy glow view of med-mal attorneys and not so rosy glow view of doctors in general, especially with the fact that I have been treated abominably by many of them in my life. (I read somewhere that good doctors with bad bedside manner were sued more often than bad doctors with great bedside manners and sometimes I wonder about my lovely OB…)
ANYWAY, I’ve kept those viewpoints all these years, but lately I’ve been thinking about lab tests. Who discovered this stuff? How are they so precise? How smart do you have to be to figure out, say, what a troponin is and how to measure it and what it means? How much knowledge has been built upon generation after generation from Hippocrates to now? I’ve started to marvel when a 90yo patient comes in and they had an appendectomy in 1843 (shut up, I don’t math), and they’re still here to tell about it!
There’s some serious genius behind all the stuff they do and they only learn more and more. Like, you know, the human body is a limitless space to explore, dare I say, the last frontier. So, my view of doctors has risen as I really got to thinking about this stuff, because my job is more or less rote and I try to find the story behind the patient to keep my mind in the game.
Doctors don’t develop the diagnostic tests. PhD and MDPhD researchers do that.
Sometimes physicians are called in to help collect data in clinical trials.
Physicians are giant pattern matching machines. They can instantly prioritize giant decision trees to get to a course of action.
The best of them also understand how all the systems work and how they fit together and how disease and treatment affects those systems.
Surprisingly few are able to use that systemic knowledge to solve problems. I always challenge that mental path to ensure that they are fully engaged and not just going by rote.
They sometimes light up and we discuss pharmacology or biochemistry as relates to a Healthcare issue. But usually I get pablum answers that demonstrate that they do not understand the drug they just prescribed. At least, not at a biochemical mechanism of action level.
Off topic – Neph, if you’re going to set up a Zoom for tonight, could you start it an hour early? I have to talk to a Glib about a thing.

Tragedy in Russia after an 11-year-old boy was burned alive in a shed by other children who, according to sources, were jealous of the little boy who was a judo star in their country.
Police said he was first doused with gasoline and then locked in a shed and set on fire, all by children slightly older than him.
Albert Umbetyarov, as he was called, was the victim of this heinous act in the Dubovaya Roschcha district of Moscow, in a forest.
“They used bats to beat him into near unconsciousness before dousing him with gasoline and locking him in a shed which they set on fire,” a witness told authorities.

“For those who believed they could build a full-stack insurance company that would become a market-leading, at-scale carrier—I think that thesis has not materialized,” said Tanguy Catlin, a senior partner at McKinsey.
Where is Swiss? Shocking, just shocking. A bunch of tech bros with VC money thought that existing insurers had no clue about the incredibly complex legal and regulatory environment they operate within. Thanks to the McCarran–Ferguson Act and regulatory capture it’s hard to come up with many other industries with such huge barriers to entry.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/technology-was-supposed-to-transform-insurance-pricing-it-hasnt-bc80c655?st=xl7mmavqalvqbka&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
Hilarious. It is so regulated that you can’t even change the font on a policy print. What a bunch of maroons.
I would make a good sized bet they hold very little risk and outsource claims.
How in the world are you are supposed be a real insurer when you don’t truly understand the claims or your actual products’ construction?
For example Tesla’s insurance is basically an MGA deal. They hold minimal risk and outsource claims and they only run through something like 8 states. It makes sense as they generate data specific to their cars and drivers. If anybody can make a go of “actuarially credible” tech data it would be Tesla. And they are smart enough here to capitalize on the headlines it generates while barely participating in the risk.
True. Large insurance companies have departments solely devoted to dealing with “compliance” from regulatory bureaus. These are often close to 1/5th of the entire corporation.
And yes, while the insurance companies would love to get back the money they whittle away from this bullshit, they like the barrier to entry even better, because Heaven forbid someone has a better idea somewhere, and could underprice them on some good business.

2.5 years? The death penalty for treason would be appropriate.
Twenty-seven years is enough time to find another job as a QC Tester. I don’t buy the ‘work pressures’ lie one bit.

No, no she’s not.
“she thought it was “stupid” that the Navy required the tests to be conducted at negative-100 degrees Fahrenheit”
So much for that “work pressure” excuse.

Diversity hire?
Not back in ’85.
I wouldn’t rule it out. Even in 1985. It was early ‘90s when I was told to my face not to bother applying for a job because they weren’t going to hire a white male.
1985. Women were rare in engineering. Whenever the company was taking publicity photos, they would hit the labs that had a woman working and make sure she was in every photo. Men were invisible.
Yes, woman got preferential hiring back in the 80s.

In response to the screening of the film, Marina DiFranco created a petition calling for the CRs to be “held accountable for their actions” and for the university to “ensure that all student organizations are respectful and inclusive toward all students.”
[T]his student organization has been using its platform to encourage discrimination and hate crimes against LGBTQ+ students and women,” DiFranco asserted. “The group has posted flyers promoting the documentary around campus, specifically targeting the LGBTQ+ center.”
Inclusive, except for those that disagree with my ideology.

Three Lies They’re Telling You about the Debt Ceiling
I hired a résumé company to do my résumé and boy, is it going to be worth it. I could never have done what they did, without fluff, in 1 page.
Niiiiice
I never knew you won the Nobel Prize in Medicine
/snark
More seriously, I’m glad you found one that provided a decent service. The industry has a reputation for not being all that good. As a person who’s read far too many resumes, I oft lament those candidates who got bad advice or a bad rewrite/redesign.
It was actually my charming personality and bits and pieces gleaned from all the reports I’ve transcribed over the years. REVERSE total shoulder replacement? I thunk that up.
Chat-GPT?
Do you know, I have no idea how to find Chat-GPT (because I haven’t looked), and I haven’t looked because it confuses and frightens me.
Precisely where I’m at on it. I’d kind of like to just put my blinded on for this ride.
I’ve played around with bard (because it is free). It’s definitely writing my annual review next year.

It’s quite simple. You type in a prompt, and it generates a response.
I just ran a sample question from my hiring package along with some highlights surrounding the question and it gave a pretty good answer. Needs tweaking though cause it thinks the word meticulous needs to be littered throughout the whole answer
“rewrite this answer with less use of the word meticulous”
I did the same when I retired from the Marine Corps.
I was sceptical, but when I got it, it was well worth the money.
Mojeaux,
I’ve got a friend who is looking for assistance with cover letters and a CV (jobs in the hospital systems here go for those over resumes). Any idea if the company you used could help with that?
I’m pretty sure they’re up to anything, although they specialize in coding. Resumes4Coders.
Now, I have a website that I just sent them to to pick over what they needed to build my résumé. It’s pretty comprehensive, but I don’t know how effective. I have so many things that overlap. I own a business, but is that relevant to my skills? I don’t know.
Thanks Mojeaux! I’ll give it a look and pass it along to my friend.
résumé company
I didn’t know this was a thing.
Need some Glib advice:
I have a newish neighbor that moved in maybe a month or two ago. I have talked to him a couple times, but I really don’t know him on a friend-type basis. Elderly guy.
Anyhoo, I was shooting the breeze with him the other day, and he was telling me about his girlfriend. Everything he described about this relationship had major SCAM red flags. Major red flags. She’s supposed to come stay with him this Saturday. Odds of her actually showing up are close to zero, IMO.
So if she doesn’t show up, fo I say anything? Do I probe further (i.e. ask him if he’s sent her money)?
I feel bad for the old coot.
Well, you know what I think generally speaking, but I would say watch carefully to see if she shows up. Mosey on over there a little while after and act like you’re just out on your morning walk and wanted to say hi to Old Coot. “Oh, hi! I’m Kibbled. Well, have a lovely day!” And then watch carefully when she leaves, then see if you can pump Old Coot for information. After you know more, then you can lay a plan.
I’d love to get my hands on a photo and do a reverse image search
Mo,
I saw your post about ChatGPT and decided to try it here. It actually made a reasonable suggestions.
In the style of a romance novelist
In the depths of her uncertainty, a tempestuous storm raged within her heart. The enigmatic allure of Chat-GPT beckoned her from afar, like a forbidden love that held the promise of both delight and trepidation. Its ethereal presence whispered sweet nothings through the digital realm, a tantalizing dance of words that left her yearning for more.
Yet, her fears cast long shadows upon her desires. The unknown, wrapped in its mysterious cloak, whispered doubts into her ear. How would she navigate this uncharted territory? Could she unravel the complexities of its virtual existence and find solace in the embrace of its algorithms?
Her heart, aflutter with trepidation, hesitated on the precipice of discovery. The romance of the unknown, interwoven with the thrill of exploration, lured her like a siren’s call. The tantalizing possibility of forging a connection with Chat-GPT resonated deeply within her soul, pulling at the strings of her being.
But as the flame of uncertainty flickered, a steadfast resolve ignited within her. For in matters of the heart, courage triumphs over fear. With every step closer to unveiling the secrets of Chat-GPT, she would discover her own strength and unravel the enigma that lay before her.
With a determined gaze and a quivering heart, she embarked on a quest for knowledge, knowing that the journey itself would sculpt her spirit. Through the labyrinth of technology, she would seek the hidden corridors that led to Chat-GPT’s doorstep.
For within the realm of the unknown, love blossoms and passion thrives. And in her pursuit of understanding, she would uncover a connection that transcended the boundaries of reality. In this digital dance, her fears would melt away, leaving only the resplendent promise of an enthralling encounter.
And so, dear reader, with each click of the mouse and every keystroke, she embarked on a path strewn with challenges and revelations. With her heart aflame, she embraced the uncertain and embarked on a journey that would forever intertwine her fate with the captivating world of Chat-GPT.
That’s turgid.
Damn.
My first thought is that’s pretty good. My second thought is, it’s too wordy to read all the way through.
Exactly. It needs an editor.
The thing that it does is sound authoritative. Ask it a question on something you know well and you may find it riddled with errors. For example, I asked it a question on Japanese grammar. It gave a perfectly coherent response, but it mixed up a relationship between speaker and subject and the answer was the exact opposite.
However, since you know nothing about the grammar you would have assumed the answer it gave was correct because it was grammatical and coherent.
South Africa load-shedding: The roots of Eskom’s power problem
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-65671718
South Africa is heading into the southern hemisphere winter with the prospect of the country’s worst-ever power cuts – up to 16 hours a day. The roots of the problem lie in poor management, corruption and sabotage.
f you are looking to understand South Africa’s current struggles – its soaring crime and unemployment rates, its stubborn inequality and stagnant economy, its relentless corruption and crippling power cuts, and its broader drift towards what some fear could become “gangster state” or even “failed state” territory – then this one act of industrial sabotage, at a coal-fired power station on the high plains east of Johannesburg, is a good place to start.
The alleged saboteur, Simon Shongwe, 43, was working as a sub-contractor at Camden – a plant that was built back in the 1960s, bombed by anti-apartheid activists in the 1980s, mothballed in the 1990s, and more recently brought out of retirement to help a country now battling to keep the lights on.
…
“Life is cheap here. You can hire a hitman for $400. People are just looting as much as they can,” said an investigative journalist working with us and South Africa’s Daily Maverick news website, who confirmed the businessman’s account.
“This is a brutal province for anyone trying to expose the truth. It’s sabotage at almost every stage of the process. And it’s not just about criminality. The money… gets passed on to politicians to keep them in power, to keep them running elections, to keep palms greased,” said the journalist, who also asked not to be named.

Authorities raided 15 properties across Germany on Wednesday and seized assets in an investigation into the financing of protests by the Last Generation climate activist group, prosecutors said — a move that comes as impatience with the organization’s tactics mounts.
Munich prosecutors said they were investigating seven people, ranging in age from 22 to 38, on suspicion of forming or supporting a criminal organization. They launched the inquiry following numerous criminal complaints from the public that they received since mid-2022.
Members of Last Generation have repeatedly blocked roads across Germany in an effort to pressure the government to take more drastic action against climate change.
In recent weeks, they have brought traffic to a halt on an almost daily basis in Berlin, gluing themselves to busy intersections and highways. Over the past year, they have also targeted various art works and exhibits.
Their tactics have drawn sharp criticism.
But Gaia is being murdered!
When a protestor glues themselves to something, break out the car rescue gear and cut off the glued limb.
It’ll stop that tactic right quick.
They are tools, and tools can be replaced. The real criminal organizations are the fake “scientists” and the media who keep pushing this hoax.
A jackhammer being operated uncomfortably close to the glued portion of the protester’s anatomy might serve as a deterrent to others.
Why damage the road, cut the fleshy bits. Those are easier to get through anyway.
I hired a résumé company to do my résumé
I thought you just got a new job.
Almost. Last interview with HR today.
However, I hired the company to do my medical CODING résumé, at which I have ZERO experience, and I did that before I applied for this proofreading gig.
They are next going to work on résumés for my other endeavors.
It never hurts to have these things in your hard drive to be conjured up at a moment’s notice if you need them. I have many baskets and many eggs in each basket, and I’d like to keep it that way.
Why is HR doing interviews? Unless it’s an HR job, they don’t have the in-depth understanding of the job to properly vet candidates.
I have no idea. There was the screening interview, the interview with the lady I’d actually be working for (she thinks I’m perfect!), and now this. I guess…a preliminary onboarding? Dunno. I just go with the flow.
Well, good luck.
Yeah, HR being last probably means it’s just to extend the formal offer to you and get the onboarding process started. Congratulations!
Yeah, I’d heard that HR was often the initial screen. This sounds promising to me too.
“Why is HR doing interviews?”
HR has way, way too much to say about who gets hired in most companies. My HR department learned early on that I didn’t want them screening resumes or candidates. After a couple of interviews, where I completely ignored their canned questions in favor of trying to wrongfoot the candidate, they quit sitting in on interviews. I think they knew good and well what would happen if they tried to tell me who to hire, but I know they routinely did that for other positions.
“Black Lives Matter is headed for INSOLVENCY after plunging $8.5M into the red – but founder Patrisse Cullors’ brother was still paid $1.6M for ‘security services’ in 2022, while sister of board member earned $1.1M for ‘consulting'”

I’m not going to say it.
BLM – blacks looting morons.
South Africa is heading into the southern hemisphere winter with the prospect of the country’s worst-ever power cuts – up to 16 hours a day. The roots of the problem lie in poor management, corruption and sabotage.
No
way!
OMG.
I’ve just been invited to an orgy being thrown by a GILF porn star.
Yes, the invite is legit and not a scam/fundraising. No I have never met Ms. RayLynn. Yes I have met some of the other attendees. No you lot are not the most degenerate bunch of people I know.
With SugarFree around? That’s impressive.
Well, there is a lot of overlap between librarians and GILF porn.
What kind of heat are you packing?
.32 caliber big black dildo
*small voice* ouch *small voice*
That’s about 1/3rd of an inch thick…
I sense a future article.
Assuming I would even be allowed to take images, I couldn’t post them here.
Masters of Information Warfare and the Unknown Voyage that Changed the Course of the Revolutionary War
That sounds like it would make a good movie.
Until the race-swapping and gender-swapping takes center stage.
I think Benjamin Franklin as a sassy black woman could work.
I’ve just been invited to an orgy being thrown by a GILF porn star.
Good luck We’re all counting on you.
Top executive forced to apologise after praising Adolf Hitler as ‘massive action taker’
A ‘director of risk advisors’ at international financial institution Deloitte wrote a rambling and ill-informed post about Hitler’s ‘good qualities’ on professional networking site LinkedIn

LOL what kind of major malfunction do you have to be to think that is a good idea.
same energy
In the sidebar of a news story I just read there is a video ad for a cat toy which is a mechanical snake. As a former cat owner in rattlesnake country, I don’t think training your cat to play with snakes is a very good idea.
I saw that ad and had the exact same thought.
We just bought one for our cats, but they are indoor cats and will never experience the great outdoors except through the window.

In other words, not necessarily a hysterical screeching chimpout about absolute evil.
The Limeys weren’t exactly fans of Napoleon, but they managed to assess his undeniable leadership skills in a practical context.
Gregory’s is a local semi-dive joint in the area I grew up. I didn’t know it held the (likely unenforceable) trademark for Taco Tuesday.

Good morning!
Unless you happen to be in Guam.
I hope it doesn’t tip over!
This story about the guy who got mowed down while helping ducks cross the street just won’t go away. If he had been a store owner killed by an armed robber nobody would have given him a second thought.
There is no way I would stop for an animal if it would cause an accident or tie up traffic.
Happier duck interaction:

Why is that ducking alone?
Where is its parent and the rest of the brood?!
Maybe Martha’s Vineyard, instead
Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) issued what he described as a “formal travel advisory for socialists visiting Florida,” on Tuesday, warning that the state was “openly hostile” to socialists and their enablers.
“The state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by Socialists and others who work in the Biden Administration,” Scott, who is also the state’s former governor, said in a press release.
“Let me be clear – any attempts to spread the oppression and poverty that Socialism always brings will be rebuffed by the people of Florida,” he added. “Travelers should be aware that attempts to spread Socialism in north Florida will fail and be met with laughter and mockery.”
Scott’s statement is a mocking response to recent travel issued by social justice groups declaring Florida an unsafe state for certain minority groups.
Over the weekend, the NAACP issuing a travel advisory warning that Florida has become “hostile to Black Americans” under Gov. Ron DeSantis. The League of United Latin American Citizens (a civil rights organization) and Equality Florida (an LGBTQ rights group) also issued travel warnings in recent weeks.
I’m just surprised it’s Rick Scott saying that.

“Report: Ron DeSantis Will Formally Announce His 2024 Bid With Elon Musk, Because Apparently David Duke Wasn’t Available”
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/05/ron-desantis-elon-musk-2024-announcement
This is clearly a top-down strategy from some think tank (or is that the CIA’s job now). The same take was posted simultaneously at multiple publications. Years ago we would have suspected journo-list. But now we know the FBI also deals in dictating storyline.
That poll of most popular political figure poll that is topped by Elon Musk is very important. It happens even though he is not overtly a political figure- he is more of a celebrity who shares his opinions on lots of things, including politics.
More importantly, the left has been running a full court press on image destruction with him ever since the pandemic began and he complained about keeping his California factory closed even though he had all sorts of protections in place that were measurably working.
And that campaign is working. Among the woke of the internet and the press, he is more of a target than even Trump. There are entire subreddits devoted to hating him.
And yet…. he is the most respected political figure in the US
So I went looking for that poll, so I could properly quote it…. and the first 5 results were hit pieces touting a new poll that talks about a new poll of brand respect that says that Tesla has “taken a huge hit” in tumbling 50 spots in the “closely watched poll” of most respected brands.
For years Tesla shorts paid millions to push negative stories about Tesla…. and it failed spectacularly.
But the national propaganda machine writ large? Are they successful?
Hard to say… they lie in polls as easily as they lie on TV.
We all saw that poll of the Democrat primary race…. that conveniently left Kennedy off the list, despite polling over 20% for weeks prior. And the media pushed that poll for days.
I wonder where this leads. The press is so out of touch they all declared Musk to be a white supremacist nazi Klansman as he joins DiSantis for his announcement. Yet he is the most popular figure in the US.
I wonder if we have crossed the line. Trust has been broken for some time. But this is something new. There are millions of useful idiots who will absolutely believe anything they is told to believe. The rest of us have passed through disbelief and anger is building.
How that plays out? In a world where the faith in institutions like the FBI and the IRS and the CIA has been broken, and the trust that the press is not feeding us government propaganda is broken? I have no idea. They are attacking faith in elections from both ends… they attack faith in the police directly (defund the police) and indirectly (ordering them to stand down on protests by BLM and climate change, yet stalk and attack conservative parents)… how does that play out?
Society is an illusion in many ways. It is all faith based. We have faith that money will be worth something to exchange for goods. We have faith that judges will be fair. We have faith that police will catch thr criminals.
If that faith is gone? People do their own criminal justice.
A good chunk of the left openly talks about destroying capitalism and the government so that we can usher in a communist utopia.
It sounds like the rantings of a guy under the bridge wearing a tinfoil hat…. but they have us right on the edge.
A good chunk of the left openly talks about destroying capitalism and the government so that we can usher in a communist utopia.
I think they’re looking for Utopian Fascism rather than communism. They’re okay with having nominal private ownership of giant monopolies closely aligned with their political goals via industrial policy and the revolving door.
They certainly are actively building a fascist state… but they don’t openly talk about that.
They’ve had a couple or Reichstag fires, both of which were unpopular. They’ve picked the best armed 57% of the population as their extermination target. The new Kristallnacht would wreck most of the wealth and productive capacity of the country. Their version of the SA is going bankrupt.
I think they need a better plan if they’re doing Bad Mustache Man 2.0.
