AI can have my job. I am ready to go live in a mud hut.

    • Rat on a train

      Elbonia welcomes you.

      • Tonio

I would post one of the applause gifs here, but that shit is all effed up and buggy.

      • Zwak , β€œThere is infinite amount of hope in the universe… just not for us.”

        Eh, so is Elbonia.

  2. rhywun

This had all the excitement of a current-year Hollywood blockbuster. Well done, fellow chat room participant.

  3. LCDR_Fish

You had the family friendly filter on?

  4. DEG

Was the prompt “Write a show where the Hat and Hair figuratively fellate each other”?

  5. John Nerfherder

    Hello Hat, you are awesome.

Yes , hello Hair, you are awesome too.

    We are both awesome.

    • KK, Non-Man

I had ChatGPT simulate a conversation between Karl Marx and Ayn Rand and it was along similar lines

“I admire your ideas about community property, but I think you’re misguided, kind sir”, etc.

      • rhywun

        lol

    • R.J.

I am going to take it another step and say CPRM is awesome.

      • Chafed

        There we go.

  6. KK, Non-Man

At least you didn’t need to use AI to generate the characters

    • Tonio

Ooooohhh, you went there. I see what you have in the Pending queue.

      • KK, Non-Man

Isn’t Moj Victoria beautiful in her yellow dress?

      • Mojeaux

That is so funny that you used the name Victoria. (I have not peeked, so I don’t know how funny it is.)

      • KK, Non-Man

        I didn’t choose any names πŸ˜„

  7. hayeksplosives

This is both impressive and ominous for our future…

The hair seemed too nice though. And a touch too fast.

    • The Hyperbole

      Ain’t working for me.

      • hayeksplosives

Does someone have a better link?? The saved links on my broken PC are inaccessible.

We know the animation wasn’t AI because the hat still had one bill and two eyes.

I found a weakness in 4096-bit encryption. While the number of possible keys is very large (2^4096), in order to get good scrambling, the key must have an equal ratio of 0s and 1s. The number of keys that have that property is less than 100,000, and so are vulnerable to a brute force attack.

It’s similar to the meet-in-the-middle algorithm for solving a Rubik’s cube:
    https://youtu.be/wL3uWO-KLUE?t=418

A Rubik’s cube has 6 faces; each with 3 layers. So because 6 x 3 = 18, any scrambled stated is no more than 18 moves away from the solved stated (this assumes the orientation of the center squares stays the same).

    • Chafed

Have you informed your bank or the NSA?

    • John Nerfherder

Doesn’t that presume foreknowledge of the ratio of ones to zeros?

If you’re lacking that, how can you limit your solution set?

  11. Fourscore

Thanks CPRM. If only the main political parties could get along so well together. They would have us broke and loving it. H and H can start dog training classes at the White House. Take command of the Commander.

    I mean, it’s fucking on point. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Did Frank Herbert know about the subtle art of worm grunting?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ILoGcSxCAY

    “Do we have worm sign?”

    ***
A thumper is a short stake with a spring-loaded clapper on one end. With the catch released, the thumper would pound repeatedly. It was used to summon a sandworm on the planet Arrakis.

That’s probably the New Jersey Devil. Making a buck or two selling off Bigfoot memorabilia, while simultaneously directing the public’s gaze away from from himself, so he* can carry on without a lot of scrutiny.

      *Yes, “he”–no presuming sex/gender here.

  14. Brochettaward

White women ruin everything. Change my mind.

  15. Brochettaward

Disney has postponed The Marvels for what I believe is now the 6th time. Clearly demonstrating much confidence in the film. It has now been pushed entirely out of 2023.

      • UnCivilServant

        Huh.

Of that lot I’ve seen… Iron Man. That’s where I dropped it.

      • rhywun

        0 for 33 here.

      • Not Adahn

Captian America: Civil War was good.

        Into the Spiderversewas fun.

Ant Man and Thor: Ragnarok successfully embraced the silly of comic books.

    • The Last American Hero

People bag on Captain Marvel but without that movie Lord knows who Nissan would have as a pitchman?

      • Chafed

        Lol

      • Sir Digby Classic

There’s a handsome fella she does a commercial with for their newest electric SUV and “I dunno what that is…a coupe, maybe?”
He’s not Ms. “Smile more, will ya?”, so that makes him far more interesting (and believable) as a pitchman.

    • one true athena

I think we’ll see more of that, as the studios spread out distribution so they don’t vomit out everything this year and have nothing for next year. That’s what happened during the previous strike.

The funniest part will be if the strike lasts long enough and the well runs dry, the studios will start cannibalizing things like unaired pilots and streaming series being recut into features.

      • Brochettaward

Disney is more concerned about spreading out their losses. Movie division has about a billion lost already this year and Captain Marvel as it stands needs to make about 5700 million just to break even. They will have lost their run-up marketing completely by the time they release this. It’s money already spent.

This screams they know they have a flop.

      • John Nerfherder

But it’s diverse females, how is this possible?

  16. rhywun

I was just nodding off now, and when I came to it got me to thinking that I went to bed last night with a good book and when I pulled it up on my Kindle during my morning ablutions today… I had no memory of reading the current page or several previous pages.

It was then that I remembered that there is a reason why I don’t read in bed.

  17. UnCivilServant

How the Hell do Freehand Painters Make it look so easy?

At least I got a halfway decent passable World Eaters Shoulderpad for this round of painting contest Minis.

    • rhywun

Ugh I am in desperate need of new specs and the thought of trying to focus on that kind of work makes my head hurt. I have a hard enough time at my job just trying to focus on computer monitors.

      • UnCivilServant

My eyes are at that state where taking off my glasses for the fine detail work is my best option.

      • rhywun

I can’t focus on anything closer than a couple feet, been that way for a couple decades.

My problem is that my last pair is bifocals which suck at both near and far*. I need something dedicated to computer work which is after all where I spend most of my time.

*So much so that I left them at the office, which I haven’t visited since 2021.

      • CPRM

That’s why you get the librarian chain, brah.

      • rhywun

        Thinkin about it

      • Gender Traitor

If your frames are not rhinestone-encrusted cat-eyes, you might prefer to search for the sportier eyeglass “cord” or “strap.”

      • Fourscore

I’ve been wearing tri-focals for 40 years. I have trouble between 2-6 feet. Now my glasses are so thick you can see COKE on the lens when there is a reflection.

    Good stuff,

  19. Sir Digby Classic

In honor of CPRM’s talent…OK, and the AI’s, too (credit where it’s due, and all that).

Anyway, in honor of the talent on display, I wanted to share with the lot of you someone who–you know those people sprinkled around the world that just seem to be able to do anything, and do everything really well? As in, when you see what they can accomplish, craft-wise, you just want to a) suddenly take up every hobby in the world because you’re now inspired to create, or b) just end it all, because you know you’re never gonna get within a country mile of the raw talent you’ve just witnessed?

Yeah; this guy is just that.

Now, considering how I’m not around much, I’d easily believe his channel has been shared here, prior to this. But I’m sharing it anyway, because I want to make sure someone here sees this mad b****** genius, who’s only separated from CPRM in terms of physical space.

Now, If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go take stock of my life as I approach a “year of weeks….of years”….or, whatever clever way there is of saying 52. And, C; I’ll email you back here in a couple of days, give or take.

    • Sir Digby Classic

Argh! I forgot–I’d suggest a ‘watch order’ of 2nd, 3rd, then 1st for Bobby’s projects. I think that’s best, but, do it however suits ya, in keeping with the ethos of this site.

      • CPRM

The Classic returns! I sent yous another e-mail about me mayhaps traveling south this winter.

      • Sir Digby Classic

And, C; I’ll email you back here in a couple of days, give or take.

        :)~

    • Gender Traitor

      Good morning, Sean and lurkers!

With any luck, this morning our resident IT guy and I MIGHT figure out why some employees can and other employees can’t access the just-restored-from-a-multiday-outage timekeeping system so half the staff will stop calling and emailing me saying “I can’t get on!!!”

      • Grosspatzer

Does the timekeeping system have a code for “taking care of issues with the timekeeping system”?

      • Gender Traitor

It’s set up so you can only access it from specific IP addresses so folks can’t clock in from their cell phone while they’re still in bed. At the end of the day yesterday, Resident IT guy suddenly got the idea that maybe not all of those addresses had been restored when they brought the site back up (after presumably resolving a potential security breach.)

      • Rat on a train

Restoring from ClickOps can be difficult.

    • UnCivilServant

Those are rookie numbers. We can get those numbers up. If I were running things we could have four crashes in a day.

      • Grosspatzer

Mornin’, U. I heard that in Trump’s voice.

      • UnCivilServant

Well, that was the intended parody.

  20. Grosspatzer

    Mornin’, reprobates!

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, ‘patzie (and U!) How are you rollin’ today?

      • UnCivilServant

I was almost late to work from oversleeping.

      • Gender Traitor

        Yikes! 😳

      • UnCivilServant

Luckily it’s a remote day, so I was able to connect before the start of my shift.

      • Gender Traitor

Whew! Going to get a chance to fix yourself a balanced breakfast?

      • Gender Traitor

        😞

      • Grosspatzer

Balanced breakfast = eggs AND bacon.

      • UnCivilServant

I need to restock my house with food, but I can order delivery for breakfast.

      • UnCivilServant

Sorry, GP, you can’t leave out the cheese.

      • Gender Traitor

        πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ₯“πŸ³πŸ§€

      • Grosspatzer

Mornin’. New data issues at $employer, I will be doing some troubleshooting shortly. I love puzzles, and I get paid to solve them!

      • Gender Traitor

Big fun! πŸ˜ƒ As long as you don’t have too many coworkers and/or managers breathing down your neck, that is.

  21. juris imprudent

Top of the morning to you all.

    • Fourscore

      And back atcha, everyone!

Funeral today for a classmate, they just don’t make ’em like they used to. At least this year we can go to say goodbye.

    • UnCivilServant

So where’s the bottom of the morning?

      • Dr. Fronkensteen

        Just before noon.
