I probably shouldn’t gloat about it but I will briefly.  The Diamondbacks went to LA, and demanded the human sacrifice will stop.

Also why is it news that something crawled up Bob Costas’ ass and died?

¡Enlaces!

In case you didn’t want to talk about Israel and were hoping for this to be a Jihad-free links post…my bad. Okay thats mean, so heres a story about migrants crashing in a bus.

On that note, El Presidente Dudebro is Pali, and is not down with Hamas.   Who knew?

The walls are closing in on Trump Brandon.

Exactly how many guys did it take to kill the president of Ecuador?

Once again, proponents of democracy prove why it doesn’t work.

For some reason, this one was stuck in my head.

I thought Costas had officially left the sports broadcasting world.

He used to cover the Triple Crown races but then started shitting all over the sport of horse racing during the Kentucky Derby, so he lost that assignment, he was total shit on the Olympics, I’m not surprised he sucks at Baseball too.

Why bring that little elf in for all the “big games”? He sucks and clearly just wants to stir up drama and talk politics.

Exactly how many guys did it take to kill the president of Ecuador?

To be fair, their intelligence agencies don’t possess the budget to manufacture “lone wolf” attacks like ours do. *adjusts tin foil hat*

“President Guillermo Lasso called an emergency meeting of his security Cabinet, which decided to move the remaining six suspects in the assassination to a different prison, a government statement said. ”

“Look, our guys in that prison are just plain tuckered out. It’s easier to move the prisoners than to rotate in a relief squad. And we can even make it look like we’re not the ones killing them!”

“A seventh man accused in the August assassination of an Ecuadorian presidential candidate was killed inside a prison in Ecuador’s capital, authorities said Saturday, a day after six others allegedly linked to the crime were slain in a different lockup.

The killing of the seven suspects happened a little more than a week before Ecuador holds a presidential runoff election and as officials struggle to explain how this was possible.”

I’d like to hear that too. You know besides, “Fuck it, it’s Ecuador”.

I doubt most Palis are down with Hamas. They managed to get voted in because the Palestinian Authority can’t tie their own shoes and now they’re stuck with them much to their detriment.

I’m sure I’m not the only one looking at that swiss cheese border and imagining that our country is full to the brim with terrorists. Now that there’s sabre rattling against Iran this looks even worse.

    • Common Tater

It was kind of weird how Islamic terrorists were the biggest thing for years, then suddenly disappeared. It’s almost as though the IC stopped fabricating terrorism to go after Trump.

      • Pat

Well, they told us the turrurists hated us for our freedom, so if the hate was proportional to the freedom, it stands to reason they’d hate us less now than they did then.

Fucking budgets- how do they work?

On Tuesday, Biden said the U.S. would send military systems to replenish Iron Dome, the Israeli air-defense system.

“When Congress returns, I’m going to ask them to take urgent action to fund the national security requirements of our critical partners,” he said.

Without American handouts, the Israelis would have to go to a payday lender to afford more ammo?

A decent number of Palestinians are Christian, and it seems Presidente Dudebro is one of them. That probably tempers any support he might have for Hamas.

    • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

I think there also a huge difference between Palis who live in Gaza, vs. Palestinian diaspora. Those that got out and stayed out tend to be a little more on the rational side.

It is kinda like Northern Ireland.

      • rhywun

I was surrounded by the diaspora for 12 years. There are plenty who are not rational, take my word for it.

But as we have seen in the last couple days, when it comes to celebrating dead Jews they do tend to be outnumbered by brainwashed college students and the professors who brainwashed them.

    • R C Dean

I can’t imagine there’s a lot of Christians in Gaza any more, but who knows?

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

According to the Book of Knowledge it’s 0.2% in Gaza, so no not a lot. Interestingly, the Wiki page is “Demographics of the State of Palestine”. I didn’t realize it was a state.

There hasn’t been that many that have done well since Endgame. Of the latest MCU movies/shows, the only one that’s really been generally considered good/decent has been Guardians of the Galaxy 3. On the DC side, it’s all a cluster fuck since they announced they were rebooting most of it, and have been hit or miss on what’s considered to be “canon”. Even their decent movies have died at the theaters because of that.

Former CIA Chief Michael Hayden Calls For Assassination Of Sen. Tuberville

Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Michael Hayden suggested Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville be “removed” from the “human race” Monday after an outbreak of conflict in the Middle East.

Hayden responded to a Democrat influencer on X, formerly known as Twitter, who asked whether the Alabama lawmaker maintaining a months-long hold on military promotions be removed from the Armed Services Committee. Tuberville’s hold is a protest against the military’s endorsement of abortion and embrace of far-left standards of social justice.

“Should Tommy Tuberville be removed from his committee?” asked Nathalie Jacoby.

“How about the human race?” Hayden suggested.

The former CIA chief, who previously characterized the Republican Party as the most “dangerous” force on Earth, doubled down on his remarks about Senator Tuberville Tuesday.

“I was surprised to wake up this morning and discover that MAGAnuts had lost their minds over my suggestion that ‘Coach’ Tuberville not be considered a member of the human race,” he wrote on X. “I stand by that view.”

Hayden, who just more than a decade ago was authorizing drone strikes to gun down violent extremists, now serves on the advisory board of NewsGuard, a left-wing misinformation group that claims to operate as a disinformation watchdog.

At least he never let personal bias influence his decision making when he was CIA chief though. The leaders of our cherished independent institutions would never do such a thing.

Does Pat or anyone else know how to get Manjaro to send sound out HDMI? Video works fine, but it’s not showing up as a sound output anywhere. Killing and starting pulseaudio doesn’t work. aplay -a only shows the built-in DA. Any ideas?

    • Pat

If it’s an Nvidia card, I think you need the proprietary drivers, and then you should see HDMI* as a registered device in Pulseaudio. Pavucontrol makes things easier, if you’re already using it. Nouveau may or may not have support.

      *number between 0 and 9

      • Common Tater

No Nvidia card. I’ll check out Nouveau.

      • Pat

Nouveau is just the open source Nvidia driver, so you don’t need that. Generally, Intel and AMD’s cards should show up as an output device option with the open source drivers, as long as there’s a device attached over HDMI. If you run

        inxi -SMAa

And don’t see an HDMI audio device, then the hardware isn’t even getting detected, so you’d need to sort that out first. If you do see an HDMI audio device there, make sure it’s not muted in alsamixer, and then see if you can find it in Pavucontrol and set is as the output device.

    Good news, everyone!

Top LGBTQ rights groups announced their endorsement of President Biden’s reelection campaign on Tuesday, giving the campaign a major boost from the community.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the National Center for Transgender Equality, and Equality PAC endorsed Biden and Vice President Harris, which marks the first time the groups have jointly endorsed a presidential ticket.

The endorsement comes ahead of National Coming Out Day on Wednesday, ABC News first reported. It also comes “amidst an unprecedented spike in anti-LGBTQ+ state legislation, with more than 550 bills introduced in 43 states, and more than 80 signed into law,” HRC highlighted in its announcement.

“At a time when the forces of hatred seek to divide us by race, place and identity the choice in this election is clear,” HRC President Kelley Robinson said. “LGBTQ+ Americans are living in a state of emergency and the leadership of the Biden-Harris Administration is needed now more than ever.

Standard Peace Corps joke: Everyone who goes to Asia comes back a philosopher, everyone who goes to South America comes back a revolutionary, and everyone who goes to Africa comes back a drunk.

If the US goes to war with Iran, it will soon after be at war with China, and there is no way we can defeat Russia, Iran, and China simultaneously. Then Biden will become the first president to lose 4 wars not just in a row, but in a single term.

We’ve been in a proxy-ish war with Russia for 1.5 years (I add -ish because who do you think blew up that gas pipeline?) and a proxy-ish war with Iran since the Arab Spring began in 2011 (again I add -ish because the US military killed Soleimani). The US cannot sustain these efforts forever nor should it.

It was Poland, 1933. They were secular Jews living a pleasant modern life. They knew about Hitler, of course, and Hindenburg’s pathetic enabling of his rise to power. They read the news. They knew about the Jewish business boycott, then the Nuremberg Race Laws, then the Night of Broken Glass—78 years ago today, as it happens. When Germany invaded, my great-grandmother insisted, we stay. Her Jewish friends panicked, fled, but she said, no, it won’t happen here. Then the soldiers moved them to the ghetto. A wealthy friend offered my family safe passage out, but my great-grandmother said: No. We stay.

Then they moved them to the camps. You can guess the rest of the story. My grandfather survived, just barely. My great-grandmother did not. I never met her, because she was murdered by the people who, she said, would simply never do such a thing. It won’t happen here…..

I am a gay Jewish journalist who loathes Trump with a very public passion. Every week, I receive the emails, the tweets, the private messages: Kike. Faggot. Fucking Jew. Their leader deploys anti-Semitism as a dog whistle, but they hear it as loud as can be. I get death threats. They want to kill me, they explain; they have a plan. And not just me, but people like me. The Jews who want to ruin this country. The gays who defiled it. The journalists who committed treason. All of us will soon get what we deserve, they tell me. They have guns. They have a plan…”

        putting gays back in chains

Hey, some people are into that sort of thing.

But in all seriousness, you are spot on. There is zero chance that the progress made by LGB (marriage, holding good jobs, serving in the military, etc) is under threat by laws trying to protect kids, safe women’s shelters, or by regulations trying to ensure fair sport’s competition.

    report from a week ago

Jews spit at Christian pilgrims near churches in Jerusalem:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jsPLq0WZSw

Foreign media cover stories that US media does not.

    • Urthona

      Although the Christians were proselytizing.

The only truly just response to that kind of annoying behavior is to parachute in some guys with machine guns and kill 300 or so of them.

      • "RFK Apologist"

They were performing a public procession of the Cross. If that’s proselytizing now then are you proselytizing by attending libertarian events?

This behavior towards any Christians by Jews in Israel is pretty well known.

      • Urthona

I dunno. Is that true ?

I read anywhere from 1 to 2 posts on this on twitter so I’m pretty much an expert.

      • Urthona

On the other hand, people who have different religious beliefs from other people are just the worst.

      • Spudalicious

Isn’t that just part of the reenactment?

      • MikeS

My mother went to Israel around 20 times. Never for less than a week and usually two-four weeks at a time. She never once got spit on. How “well known” is this?

      • MikeS

I forgot to add she was an Evangelical Christian. And not shy about it.

      • "RFK Apologist"

It’s common enough that the patriarchs of the Catholic, Orthodox, Coptic, and Armenian churches in Jerusalem have voiced complaints with the United Nations about it.

Of course they’re going to be nicer to American Christians. That’s also why they complained about the 60 minutes report a few years back. Most Americans are dumbfounded to find out a lot of Palestinians are Christian, let alone the treatment of domestic and foreign Christians.

I’ve known people who have went to Israel with churches and they never had complaints. They were treated well by Israel because they were American and treated well by Palestinians because they were Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox (viewed as neutral in the conflict).

      • MikeS

        huh. There’s assholes everywhere.

I don’t know enough to make an solid arguments. But I do know the Catholic Church does not have a great track record with Jews. Could some of this hatred be aimed not at all Christians in general, but maybe certain sects?

      • "RFK Apologist"

So your argument is the video is a lie and all those Christian patriarchs are liars.

        You sound reasonable

  21. Derpetologist

    Al-Jazeera says:

Hamas spent two years planning their attack. During that time, the Israelis were convinced Hamas was unable to mount a large attack because of economic problems. During the planning phase, Hamas avoided all conflict with the Israelis. Many Hamas commanders were deliberately kept unaware that an attack was being planned.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

While the money we released to Iran probably didn’t finance this attack (the timing doesn’t work out), it should be noted that Biden resumed giving aid to the Palestinians two years ago.

      • rhywun

The timing doesn’t have to work out unless Iran was flat broke.

    • Urthona

After some careful consideration these past few days, I’m gonna have to come out against the beheading of 40 babies.

      I disagree with that.

    • Derpetologist

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is involved with militants all over the Middle East. They support, arm, and train Hezbollah, Hamas, Shia Iraqi militias, the Asad regime and military, and the Houthis in Yemen. This is all documented in open sources. 1/3 members of Iran’s parliament are current or former members of IRGC.

Bottom line, at least a few of them knew Hamas was going to attack and when.

Isn’t pretty much everyone already in the alert system black or hispanic? For obvious demographic reasons. Are here in Texas at least.

Btw, apparently it’s state wide so when someone is abducted 10 hours away but still in Texas I get an alert. Very useful.

      • Urthona

Btw, when I say “abducted” I really mean “child custody problem”

Maybe go check with the parent the child doesn’t live with and get back to me, a-holes.

suggested satire: Planned Parenthood Still Responsible for More Baby Beheadings Than Hamas

At the 22 second mark of this clip, Al Jazeera shows a map claiming that Hamas still controls a large section of Israeli territory and is very close to linking up with the West Bank. That’s some creative geography, that is. Maybe the map was drawn by Iraq’s former information minister.

“Faltering forces of infidels cannot just enter a country of 26 million people and lay besiege to them! They are the ones who will find themselves under siege. Therefore, in reality, whatever this miserable Rumsfeld has been saying, he was talking about his own forces. Now even the American command is under siege.”

Oh, Baghdad Bob. We miss you. His real name is Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf. The last part of his name means “the journalist”.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Maybe they’ve seized the bridge between Gaza and the West Bank. You know, the bridge that Vox journalist claimed existed.

    • Derpetologist

That is, the narrator says the Israeli settlements built around Gaza are meant to prevent a contiguous Palestinian state from ever forming. I stand corrected. Gaza is a lot closer to the West Bank than I thought. Beit Hanoun (Gaza) and Al-Dhahiriya (West Bank) are less than 30 miles apart.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

But if Gaza and the West Bank formed a contiguous state, then Israel would not be contiguous.

      • Ted S.

You need to stop thinking in two dimensions. /sarcasm

      • Derpetologist

Yes, and that is one of the main obstacles to the so-called two state solution.

It would be easier for Egypt to take Gaza and Jordan to take the West Bank, but they don’t want to do that. And the Palestinians don’t want to be part of Israel.

Some countries handle enclaves/exclaves better than others. Italy seems OK with them.

      • MikeS

The Italians are more level-headed. That is really saying something.

      • Derpetologist

Yeah. Put 3 Italians in a room and they’ll start 4 political parties.
