Suggestions for the Well Dressed Orphan: Part VI

Its that time of year, where the staff and I discuss suggestions for your orphans that still trick or treat. Whether they are actually children or not.

Adults still do this, seriously.

This is my review of Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale:

As always this is not done in any particular order.

Leading off:  Civil Rights Activist

The hard part will be obtaining the FAA license for the paraglider but asking permission from the colonizers seems to defeat the purpose.

On Deck:  English Literature Professor

A for what? A cunt?

You just need a decent set of mommy milkers, a giant A, and completely disregard the fact you are announcing to everyone that actually read the book that you’re an adulterer participating in the infamous DC sex dungeons. Thanks for letting us know, Madison Cawthorne!

In the hole:  Men’s Rights Advocate

This costume also works for “Chelsea Clinton”

You need plain looks, red hair, a totally decent body, an annoying middle America accent, and the complete and utter inability to flatter any of your features. Plus a photographer with a fetish for your healthy gums.

Cleaning up:  Tokyo Rose

As I went through the photos I thought, “I bet there is one with ‘Rachel Hair’.”  Sure enough!

Knocking it out of the park:  Diane Feinstein

Not Zombie DiFi?  No. She’s been dead and sustaining the remnants of her soft tissues on brain pudding at least since 2020, in no circumstances should we joke about this harridan being undead.

This is no bourbon barrel stout.  This is not engine oil reminiscent of your favorite cocktail before the morning staff meeting.  A style for some reason I come to associate with Appalachia and the South, this is more of a classic English ”Strong Ale”.  Which in itself is a fortified Pale Ale.  Here they age it for six weeks in recently decanted bourbon barrels spared from a life of being recycled, burned, and sent to Scotland—or Cuba.  Its a nice way to sip whiskey without the inevitable Sunday morning hangover that ruins dead lift day. Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale: 4.2/5  8-9%ABV

    It’s a nice color.

Mz “Rachel hair” should have a kayak on her SUV.

      • Suthenboy

        I love that video.
No one anthropomorphizes animals more than city girls.

      • Tres Cool

“Why are you breaking my kayak! Why are you doing that?”

        “Cause you maced me, bitch.”

  3. Annoyed Nomad

    I enjoy the KBB beers.

    • Chafed

They tend to knock me on my butt. That’s not a bad thing.

I think I’ve had this beer. If it is the beer I remember, it was delicious.

    • Drake

Same here – good stuff if I am remembering correctly.

Budweiser did a limited run of barrel-aged beer before covid. It was truly excellent – so they stopped and went back to making shitty rice beer.

      • prolefeed

It’s like they’re taunting you – “we know how to make good beer, but y’all keep choosing the crappy but inexpensive stuff, so enjoy your Bud Light.”

      • Nephilium

Genesee did a Brew House series several years back. The first couple were really solid, then they went downhill quick. I’ll admit to enjoying their Ruby Red Kolsch in the summer.

      • Grummun

They did a Salted Caramel Chocolate Porter that was scrummy.

    • Tundra

      Yep. It’s terrific.

      And pretty widely available

  5. Annoyed Nomad

We have the ring of fire here in Utah. Very cool.

    • Annoyed Nomad

And now the ring is over. Only lasted a couple minutes.

      • juris imprudent

Unlike the ring of fire after heating insanely hot wings.

      • R.J.

It was cool. I used the celestron glasses. Way better than the cheap ones I had last time. We got down to a little sliver. Looked like more than 80% covered to me. I took pictures of the funky shadows.

It’s just like stealing from the government

The amount of tax money owed but not paid to the IRS is set to keep growing, according to projections published by the federal tax collection agency on Thursday.

For tax years 2021 and 2020, the latest to receive such IRS estimates, the projected gross “tax gap” soared to $688 billion and $601 billion, respectively. That marks a significant jump compared to years past — with gross tax gap projections standing at $550 billion for 2017-2019 and $496 billion for 2014-2016.

One of the IRS’s biggest challenges is making sure that people actually pay their taxes. While agency data shows that the vast majority of Americans pay their taxes voluntarily and on time, hundreds of billions of dollars in unpaid taxes pile up each year — and tax gap estimates keep getting bigger.

IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel said that the rising tax gap estimates “underscores the importance” of more compliance efforts. Part of the $80 billion the IRS received from the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act is being used for that purpose.

“We are adding focus and resources to areas of compliance concern, including high-income and high-wealth individuals, partnerships and corporations,” Werfel said in a statement. “These steps are urgent in many ways, including adding more fairness to the tax system, protecting those who pay their taxes and working to combat the tax gap.”

Once we get those Etsy and ebay billionaires to cough up their fair share, we’ll be well on our way to tax justice.

    • Ted S.

IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel said that the rising tax gap estimates “underscores the importance” of more compliance efforts.

Shitty football player, shitty IRS Commissioner.

    • prolefeed

“… pay voluntarily and on time …”

You can volunteer, or go to jail! Free to decide!

      • Fourscore

That’s always good for a joke but no one ever laughs. Hunter is testing the system, so far so good.

      • creech

Seems one hell of a lot of us aren’t paying and aren’t going to jail.

    • R C Dean

      “voluntarily”

      Sure, Jan.

  7. The Late P Brooks

Estimates for 2021 assume that noncompliant behavior hasn’t changed since the most recent 2014-2016 audit, IRS officials noted in a call with reporters — meaning that current projections don’t reflect filing behavior seen in the pandemic, for example. But shifts in economic activity and changes in the mix and type of income reported for 2021 are accounted for — so as total tax liability increases, so does the tax gap.

That’s the wrong kind of economic stimulus.

  8. Ted S.

Oh lord that photoshop on Tokyo Rose’s head.

  9. kinnath

Its a nice way to sip whiskey

I only drink spirits when my friends have trapped me at a scotch tasting. I have no interest in bringing that flavor profile into beer.

Wine barrel aged sour ales, on the other hand, I can’t get enough of.

    • rhywun

Yeah, nice all week then just in time for Saturday dreary rain all day.

  10. Shpip

We have a fair amount of clouds over Big College Town today. This has turned out to be a good thing for me.

  11. prolefeed

Read an article, I’m assuming written by a progressive, characterizing the GOP Speaker fight as “dysfunction” because it was holding up a bill to fund government spending at current or expanded levels, including sending money to Israel and the Ukraine.

So, raising a glass of bourbon barrel aged bourbon to continued “dysfunction”.

    • Rebel Scum

Any limits on government is anti-government extremism and having a debate that stalls anything in government is dysfunction. You know how the game works.

  12. Suthenboy

What am I missing here? Random pictures of women…..?
Maybe I am brain dead because I didn’t get enough sleep last night.

    • milo

      How is your pup?

    • mexican sharpshooter

      These are Halloween costumes.

      • Suthenboy

        Ah….ok.
I would give little redhead my candy any day. Redheads/true blondes girl next door….kinda my thing.

  13. Ownbestenemy

The Mrs is back on a plane go Vegas. Bachelor time again for me until I go to Vegas for the household move. Then a month without my wife before we drive out and complete the move.

I enjoy solitude but it sucks when she ain’t here

  14. Riven

    I’d try that.

Still working on my Halloween costume for this show, though.

    • mexican sharpshooter

Wonder Woman is always in style.

      • Riven

I could never stand up next to Gal Gadot!

      • R C Dean

Oh, I’d be standing at attention.

      • Tres Cool

        Because she’s 5′ 10″ ?

    • Beau Knott

Oooooh! I’ll have to dig into this guy’s work. Thank you for the reference!

    • Nephilium

I’m switching away from the Sam from Trick’r’Treat movie this year to the Happy Death Day series. I may bring Sam up to a brewery costume contest, although you can’t really drink while wearing the mask.

      • R.J.

That has always been my problem. I am just wearing ravey alien clothes for an event tonight. Much easier to get about.

  15. Rebel Scum

    ‘Member when London was English?

Tens of thousands gathered for the Palestine rally in London today a week after the Hamas atrocities in Israel. “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” they chanted.

Islamists would Louvre to attack this.

    Dear visitors,

For security reasons, the Musée du Louvre is closing its doors today, Saturday, October 14.
Those who have booked a visit during the day will be reimbursed.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    • Fourscore

I’m guessing all those in the London Marching Band are headed for Gaza to personally aid their brethren in arms.

    • rhywun

LOL mostly pasty white crowd protest-larping.

    • Chafed

Similar to global warming measures, the British public is waking up to the cost of uncontrolled immigration.

  16. Rebel Scum

    The next thing.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned a small group of lawmakers last week that his department is tracking the possibility that Azerbaijan could soon invade Armenia, according to two people familiar with the conversation.

The call indicates the depth of concern in the administration about Azerbaijan’s operations against a breakaway region in the west of the country and the possibility of the conflict spreading.

Azerbaijiani President Ilham Aliyev has previously called on Armenia to open a “corridor” along its southern border, linking mainland Azerbaijan to an exclave that borders Turkey and Iran. Aliyev has threatened to solve the issue “by force.”

    • Fourscore

“Elderly Canadians soon to invade the US”

    • Sean

Good thing the adults are back in charge.

    • Suthenboy

“…according to two people familiar with the conversation.”
I find contemporary journalism repulsive. It really is shameful.

    • rhywun

I thought Azerbaijan already invaded and took over the Armenian exclave, Nagorno-something. I assume that is the “breakaway region” they are referring to and I’m pretty sure that is not a recent thing. But yeah I’m guessing Azerbaijan calls the shots in that area now and with a little help from some of their like-minded neighbors.

  17. Suthenboy

My dog for those asking/wondering: She made it through the night and passed peacefully this morning.
I made a nice little stone monument grave for her and put her favorite frisbee with her. Had a little funeral like affair with wife in tears.
    So..she is at rest.

3 dogs left. Two are tenish in age and in good shape. One is a bit less than 2. I shouldn’t have to dig any graves for a while, assuming I outlive them.

    • DEG

      Sorry.

    • milo

She’s a puppy again, running in the sun. No more pain.

    • Riven

I’m so sorry, Suthen. She sounds like she was a good dog. Maybe the best.

    • Tres Cool

Sincere condolences. Been through it too many times. Sounds like you gave her a good life.

    • Sensei

      My condolences , Suthen.

    • mexican sharpshooter

      Sorry

    • rhywun

      🐶🫡

    • Chafed

Sorry Suthenboy but I am glad she passed peacefully.

  18. Rebel Scum

That’s one hell of an endorsement.

Jim Jordan was involved in Trump’s conspiracy to steal the election and seize power; he urged that Pence refuse to count lawful electoral votes. If Rs nominate Jordan to be Speaker, they will be abandoning the Constitution. They’ll lose the House majority and they’ll deserve to.

As if she gives a rat’s ass about the Constitution. She only follows the Cuntestitution.

    • R.J.

      I thought so.

    • rhywun

She is not anything right now, right? Who cares what she says. Or did she get that MSNBC gig she seems to have been angling for.

  19. Rebel Scum

This is well-reasoned and adheres to the most recent Supreme Court ruling on the issue.

The Ninth Circuit’s left-leaning majority ruled in favor of the stay, writing:

…We conclude that the public interest tips in favor of a stay. The public has a compelling interest in promoting public safety, as mass shootings nearly always involve large-capacity magazines, and, although the public has an interest in possessing firearms and ammunition for self-defense, that interest is hardly affected by this stay.

No, wait. Scratch that. Reverse it.

    • UnCivilServant

The ninth circus is a farce.

      • Fourscore

“although the public has an interest in possessing firearms and ammunition for self-defense, that interest is hardly affected by this stay”

If it only affects you just that one time…Jimmy Carter was attacked by a swimming rabbit, just that one time but hardly affected anyone else.

    • Suthenboy

Fuck California and fuck the FedGov. You cant have my guns.

    • R C Dean

Remember when SCOTUS said there wasn’t a balancing test for gun control? It was all of a year or two ago.

      • Chafed

I won’t defend the Ninth Circuit but I do think Bruen has quite a bit of ambiguity in how to interpret the law. Having said that, I think capacity limits will be struck down.

  20. Tres Cool

Bored, I followed Sharpie’s link. I now know more about Rachel Hair than I needed to.
    Time to drink, I suppose.

    • R.J.

      Monday the 25th? Not me.

  21. R C Dean

Can somebody fill me in on the Pixar meme? As in, what was the title? Since it got cut off.

    • mexican sharpshooter

There was no title. People have been inputting terrible things into AI generators asking it to give it in the style of a Pixar movie.

    • mexican sharpshooter

      For example:
      OJ did it

      • Chafed

        Ho-lee shit!

    • mexican sharpshooter

      Clinton

    • Pat

It’s riffing on Up, wherein, as I understand it, a house is lifted to the sky by attaching lots of balloons, substituting a Hamas terrorist on a hang glider for the old guy in the house.

  22. Ownbestenemy

I’ve seen this glitch! Nice pop-culture reference in Starfield.

    • Ownbestenemy

      Next to it…PC load letter

    • Tres Cool

“they did it in Superman 3”

  23. Sensei

It’s ‘a child, not a goldfish’: New dad-to-be is livid as wife pulls power play over baby’s name

The name is Mune. Mom heard it in a movie, but I have no idea which one. The whole time I’m reading this I’m thinking…

    むね, むな【胸】(mune)
    noun
    1. chest, breast (むな is usually used in compounds)
    2. breasts, bosom, bust
    3. heart
    4. lungs
    5. stomach
    6. heart, mind, feelings

So everybody is going to be calling him “Boobs”. This is not a relationship on a solid foundation.

    • Ted S.

      Cool link, bro!

    • juris imprudent

Didn’t we have a discussion a while back about female brains during pregnancy?

    • Mojeaux

      That was on r/AmITheAsshole yesterday.

      • Sensei

        Did they determine the film?

    • one true athena

This is why we ran our kid’s Japanese middle name choice by a native speaker lol. My spouse is 3rd gen, so any of that subtlety is lost on him. His mother spoke it in her family, but famously called relatives in Japan and the kid who answered yelled “Mom, there’s a really bad japanese speaker on the line for you!”

      • Sensei

You are always going to struggle. Plenty of words in different languages mean completely different things, but sound the same.

For example my son’s name is Ben.

        noun, な-adjective
        1. convenience, service, facility, accommodation
        noun
        2. excreta (esp. faeces), excrement, stool

  24. The Late P Brooks

    3. heart
    4. lungs
    5. stomach

You’ve decided to name your kid “Offal”. Smooth.

    • Sensei

May as well call him yakitori.

  25. The Late P Brooks

    Consequences? Not fair!

Long a place of political and philosophical debate, college campuses, like Harvard University, are now at the center of a controversial debate over the war in Israel and bombing of Gaza.

    ——-

“This is the most tense campus has ever been by far,” Hejir Rashidzadeh, a Harvard law student, told ABC News.

The debate on campus has made Harvard a microcosm of sorts, reflecting the national debate on the conflict.

Students alleged to be in those student groups are now facing intense backlash on campus and online. Students in pro-Palestinian groups and in the Jewish community at Harvard told ABC News they are feeling scared and isolated.

Go ahead and speak your piece, Junior. Just don’t pretend to be surprised when you get called out.

*SLD- applies equally to all parties

    • Pat

Long a place of political and philosophical debate, college campuses…

      Country AND western.

  26. The Late P Brooks

The student is one of three Palestinian students who spoke to ABC News, but asked that their names not be used, saying they are now hiding in fear and facing intense backlash, including death threats, doxing and harassment. They said they have not left their student housing since the conflict began.

    ——-

Students in the Jewish community at Harvard told ABC News they’re hurt and frustrated that some of their fellow classmates did not overtly condemn the Hamas attack. Many declined to speak on camera because they said they feared retaliation and harassment as well as antisemitism.

The Harvard campus is overrun with sectarian death squads? Sounds like Harvard’s inclusionary policies are incredibly effective.

    • Sensei

What’s this world coming to when I can’t support genocide openly?

    • rhywun

they are now hiding in fear and facing intense backlash, including death threats, doxing and harassment

I am skeptical of this claim.

  27. Lackadaisical

I’ve actually had this one before and I can’t recommend it.

But then, I don’t like bourbon so much. To those that do, this is probably exquisite, because it tastes just like it.

  28. The Late P Brooks

What’s this world coming to when I can’t support genocide openly?

To be sure, infanticide has its detractors…

  29. The Late P Brooks

To those that do, this is probably exquisite, because it tastes just like it.

    Tastes like a boilermaker?

  30. The Late P Brooks

The non turn signaling camping truck is didn’t deserve this, but he’s an asshole too.

I watched that multiple times. The faster car couldn’t have done a better job of hiding in the truck’s blind spot if he was a cop.

    • Sensei

And if the driver of the truck reached out about two inches and actually used a turn signal it might have marginally increased avoiding an accident.

But hey it’s his or her world we just live in it.
