The reproduction story was incredible. Loved it.

I had the same face as The Hat at the end. 😐

        An O face?

I would have been disappointed by any other clip.

    “down other people’s throats”

Some people are into deepthroating and some people are into being deepthroated.

The Hair’s propagation sounds a bit like a past GlibFlick.

Vintage Kirsten Dunst. This is back in the early 2000s when Japanese girls became a weird fashion accessory for celebrities. Very odd time in pop culture

So I can’t toss you into the air and hit you over the net with a racket by hand, but I’m sure we can build a machine to do it.

The Hair got dark toward the end

    • R.J.

He was still kinda dirty blonde.

The water soak his blond hair black.

This is the only website I’m aware of where the comments include links to InfoWars and Kirsten Dunst singing “I think I’m turning Japanese”.

    Swiss? Failed?

Clearly his cheese ration must be increased. I suggest a nice wheel of Port Salut.

    • MikeS

Maybe also consider increasing his beer rations.

        Whatever gets him perky.

    • Swiss Servator

      Port Salut, ja. Jupiler, NEIN!

I’ve been working on the integer factorization problem. If p and q are prime, then pq is semiprime. Using my conjecture that whiz proved, we can say that:

    p^2 = 5^2 + 24m

    q^2 = 5^2 + 24n

    (pq)^2 = (5^2 +24m)(5^2 + 24n)

If p is approximately the same as q, then m is approximately the same as n. Therefore,

    pq = (25 + 24n)

    sqrt(pq) = sqrt(25 + 24n)

    The end result is:

    (p + q)/2 = sqrt(25 + sqrt(pq)/24)

So if we have a semiprime whose factors are about the same, the average of those two factors can be calculated from the semiprime.

Also, my VA counselor read my autobiography. He said it was funny and that I’m a good writer with a punchy style. I will be posting it here in installments.

I can’t believe she made it to 59. RIP, indeed.

      • Chafed

        I’ll be in my bunk.

    • Richard

I’m late to the game and no one will probably ever read this, but:

If p and q are about the same then the average of p and q will be approximately sqrt(pq) because one factor must be slightly larger than the square root and the other slightly smaller.

Is the last equation transcribed correctly? 991 and 997 are primes “about the same” and:

      (991 + 997) / 2 = 994

      sqrt(25 + sqrt(991 * 997) / 24) = 8.15

      • Derpetologist

        My bad. It should be (p + q)/2 = sqrt(25 + pq)

  8. Tundra

Well that took a dark turn.

    • MikeS

      Deliciously dark.

Wherein the pope scolds Americans for living too extravagantly, unlike himself:

    ***
Pope Francis had harsh words for Americans in a new document calling for action to address what he called a “climate crisis” in which “the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point.”

The document says that efforts to combat climate change have moved too slowly, and that some parts of the world are more guilty than others.

“If we consider that emissions per individual in the United States are about two times greater than those of individuals living in China, and about seven times greater than the average of the poorest countries, we can state that a broad change in the irresponsible lifestyle connected with the Western model would have a significant long-term impact,” Francis wrote.

“Every little bit helps, and avoiding an increase of a tenth of a degree in the global temperature would already suffice to alleviate some suffering for many people.”

Saying that “it is no longer possible to doubt the human … origin of climate change,” the pope said skeptics have “dismissive and scarcely reasonable opinions.”

That this fucking guy rose to Popehood really pushes me towards…well basically any conspiracy theory ascribing ill intent to the assholes in charge of blowing the white smoke.

      • rhywun

It pushes me away from the Catholic Church that I nominally belong to.

      • dbleagle

Taking the Commpope at his word there are roughly 4 times as many Chinese slaves than American citizens so China has twice (and growing) the impact of any alleged AGW by the US. Take it up with Xi.

    • Fourscore

Look, Mr Pope, I didn’t bust my butt to live like a pauper. I like being warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Thank dog I did bust my butt, now you can ride around in a nice supercar and travel at other people’s expense while I drive a 20 year old truck.

    • rhywun

I get the commie impulse behind most of this stuff but this frequent assertion…

avoiding an increase of a tenth of a degree in the global temperature would already suffice to alleviate some suffering for many people

…is completely baffling. How can any thinking person credit this?

      • MikeS

Yeah. It’s all so fucking tedious. That the “infallible” leader of the largest Christian sect seems hellbent (pun intended) on melding his supposed religion with his apparent religion of environmentalism should give all Catholics some serious pause. Even those who are greenies. This dude seems very, very wrong for the church. I can’t imagine what long term damage he could do if he were ten years younger.

And I say this as not only an outsider, but as someone relatively hostile to the Vatican. I keep wondering where the outrage is from the rank and file.

      • slumbrew

        *clears throat*

He is not “infallible”. He may speak ex cathedra on matters of the faith – i.e., on matters of church doctrine.

(long-lapsed Catholic. I just remain annoyed by “you guys think the pope is infallible!”)

    • Derpetologist

He took the name Francis after St Francis of Assisi. A bit about him:

      ***
On a pilgrimage to Rome, he joined the poor in begging at St. Peter’s Basilica.[8] He spent some time in lonely places, asking God for spiritual enlightenment. He said he had a mystical vision of Jesus Christ in the forsaken country chapel of San Damiano, just outside Assisi, in which the Icon of Christ Crucified said to him, “Francis, Francis, go and repair My church which, as you can see, is falling into ruins.” He took this to mean the ruined church in which he was presently praying, and so he sold some cloth from his father’s store to assist the priest there.[16] When the priest refused to accept the ill-gotten gains, an indignant Francis threw the coins on the floor.[7]

In order to avoid his father’s wrath, Francis hid in a cave near San Damiano for about a month. When he returned to town, hungry and dirty, he was dragged home by his father, beaten, bound, and locked in a small storeroom. Freed by his mother during Bernardone’s absence, Francis returned at once to San Damiano, where he found shelter with the officiating priest, but he was soon cited before the city consuls by his father. The latter, not content with having recovered the scattered gold from San Damiano, sought also to force his son to forego his inheritance by way of restitution. In the midst of legal proceedings before the Bishop of Assisi, Francis renounced his father and his patrimony.[7] Some accounts report that he stripped himself naked in token of this renunciation, and the bishop covered him with his own cloak.

Francis was inspired to devote himself to a life of poverty. Having obtained a coarse woolen tunic, the dress then worn by the poorest Umbrian peasants, he tied it around himself with a knotted rope and went about exhorting the people of the countryside to penance, brotherly love, and peace.
      ***

I expect the legacy of St Francis to outlast that of Pope Francis.

      • MikeS

I expect the legacy of St Francis to outlast that of Pope Francis.

I’m not so sure. If this guy lives long enough, he could really screw up the church.

    • Brochettaward

I’m really curious to see Pope Francis’s carbon footprint compared to the average American’s, personally. I look forward to him cutting back on his own carbon emissions. Is the Vatican free of fossil fuels yet?

    • creech

I assume he immediately banned any further use of candles or electricity in Catholic churches.

As a ‘raised catholic,’ I am glad I came to my senses and stopped believing in magic that is being guilefully advanced on the public by robed wizards. Because the top robed wizard believes I should live a life of hunger and misery so we don’t heat up the planet within an easily corrected for margin using science and technology, makes me wonder if he actually believes his god listens to the laminates of himself and his followers. IOW, he can pray for all the cooling temperatures he wants, I’ll use my air conditioner.

It really is remarkable how Diane Feinstein desperately clung to power until her last breath.

    • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

It is unremarkable how Di-Fi’s family and aids kept her in place to be able to claim control of the senate and have her zombie vote for prog dream bills.

I kept the zoom open for like an hour to see if anyone showed up. No one did. Now I’m cooking chili and playing Starfield. It was worth all the computer trouble I had trying to get it up and running. It will be perfect when modders can make nudie mods! SLAMS BEER.

    • UnCivilServant

Look, I just woke up, and haven’t been to a Zoom since… A long time ago.

I was debating writing up my thoughts on the game.

    • milo

Gonna rant here. I do apologize.
Batman: Arkham Knight is the best game yet created.
The graphics still hold up…7 years later.
Shit, who am I kidding? They are better than anything I have seen since it came out.
It’s like comparing the Bugs Bunny toons back in the day to the crap put out for the last few decades.
      Sorry, your drawing skills suck.
Look at the old ones. Johnny Quest…Scooby Doo…Thundarr for God’s sake.
Jeebus. I’m the old man yelling at clouds, aren’t I?
Is Starfield worth the money? Will it keep my mind occupied during the collapse?

      • UnCivilServant

It looks pretty, but Bethesda doesn’t have anyone who can write worth a damn.

      • CPRM

Arkham Knight is the only Arkham game I never finished. I want to play a Batman game, no Tank commander.

I don’t give a shit how Starfield looks, it scratches my itch. I needz them drugz!

      • UnCivilServant

In re Arkham Knight, I finished it insofar as I completed the plot. But I didn’t complete it in that they hid the ending behind ten thousand collectables.

Surveying planets in Starfield is relaxing, but I’d like the modding community to provide a completed game on the technical framework.

      • CPRM

I just got tired of the tank battles in Arkham Knight. So I stopped. In all the comics I’ve read I think the boatmobile was used as more than a conveyance…never? Batman is about stealth and fear, not tanks.

      • CPRM

I’d like the modding community to provide a completed game on the technical framework.

So you’re waiting on the sex mods to, got it.

Mornin’, Sean. Great cover indeed. I disliked the original to the point that I never heard the lyrics. I do like them.

One Step Ahead is the coolest video ever.

  15. Ownbestenemy

Morning. Would be interesting UnCic to share notes on Starfield.

    • UnCivilServant

I suppose I can assemble some points of interest and mix in a dose of random rabling with some rants.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, OBE, U, TO’G, Beau, Sean, and Stinky!

I…got nuthin’. Maybe after a little more coffee.

      • Gender Traitor

Well…I have coffee, so I guess I do have something…

        You got anything?

      • UnCivilServant

        Cottage Cheese?

Yesterday I fell asleep around 5 or 6pm and woke up at midnight. Despite my best efforts, I didn’t get back to sleep since. I’m not happy about screwing up my sleep schedule. I haven’t had the motivation to reset the Resin printer to try again with some of my recent failures.

      • Gender Traitor

I have yogurt, but I don’t plan to eat that until I get to work.

I’m sorry about your printer troubles. Maybe it’s an inherently delicate, risky process that can easily go wrong? Way back when I took some jewelry casting classes, it all came down to hoping that your plaster mold didn’t have any stray air pockets and that you’d melted the correct amount of metal and that once you let the centrifuge spin, all that melted metal would shoot into the mold and come out looking roughly the way you wanted. Great when it works, disappointing when it doesn’t.

      • UnCivilServant

Proper preparation can produce proper prints.

Not paying sufficient attention gets me in trouble.

    • Gender Traitor

“We have to go after the administration’s political enemies without making it look as if we’re going against the administration’s political enemies.”

    • rhywun

The threat posed by domestic violent extremists is persistent, evolving, and deadly.

      Oh, fuck off.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

It’s not just Trumpsters though, it’s anyone who opposes the official proclamations of the state either right or left. A politicized federal law enforcement apparatus is incredibly dangerous but everyone here already knows that.

      • rhywun

The next time Antifa rages unchecked in cities across America I’ll remember that there aren’t two systems at play here.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, ‘patzie! How are you feeling today?

Yesterday may have been our last summer-like day for the year. By the weekend, it will have cooled off considerably.

      • Ghostpatzer

        How are you feeling today

Thanks.. Damn sight better than yesterday, I actually slept through the night. Took a sick day yesterday after being up half of Tuesday night with that lovely colicky pain.

      • rhywun

Same here. Near 90 yesterday. I’ve had about enough of that for the year thank you very much.

  16. Stinky Wizzleteats

I see from upthread that people are incensed with the recent environmental proclamations of the pope. Give up the lifestyle and the gold, Francis, and maybe I’ll listen but I doubt it. Few large organizations stand to benefit as much from the impoverishment of the earth’s people than the Catholic Church.

    • UnCivilServant

You know, I agree. Antipope Frank should retire to a Monastary run in the manner of Saint Columba’s original Iona.

Do all the work of a Churl, and all the prayers of a later Benadictine.

    • Ghostpatzer

The world has really gone crazy in a very short time. Or, more likely, over a longer time and I only started to notice recently. Not that many years ago my two sons and I were in the music ministry at a nearby Catholic church run by Franciscans. Tenor (me), bass (youngest Patzer), and trumpet(eldest spawn). Now? Not a chance we will be seen in a church unless it involves a wedding or funeral.

The abject cowardice of the institutional church when confronted by secular authorities during the pandemic tore the veils from my eyes. And I really miss it, it has been an important part of my life for decades. If the Pope had chosen to use his pulpit to denounce the repression, things might have been very different and not just for me. Fuck him and his corrupt “church”. They claim to preach Christ, the reality is something else entirely.

      • Gustave Lytton

Nail your facemask to the church door..

      • Gustave Lytton

Facetious, but I imagine Luther had similar feelings looking at the contemporary church around him.

      • Ghostpatzer

Got it. I wonder what Luther would think about the modern church bearing his name.

    • Beau Knott

Ah, sorry to hear that. I enjoyed the Spiral Arm series, but the extended use of dialect was massively annoying. Great characters, though.
