Good morning my Glibs and Gliberinas! It’s that wonderful time again to sit down, sip that coffee, bitch about traffic to your coworker and enjoy another fantastic day and the links!

That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
Only 3% of Americans Received Annual Coronavirus Shot
The important thing is that Moderna got paid.
Ideally, we won’t spend millions of tax dollars on shots no one wants next year, but I’m not optimistic.
No. We’ll just spend the millions on advertising so
the rightpeople will want the shots again!*dollar signs flash in Travis Kelce’s eyes *
Or trot out mandates again. Not like they care what the Court says about anything (student loan bailouts continuing after all). And that would nicely divide the people, fire up the base against the unwashed and make their enemies miserable going into the primaries.
We need an emergency to make rationalizing fortification easier.
At this point they don’t need any rationalization, they’ll just be blatant about it knowing the courts won’t care and the media will run cover for them.
I’m gonna get Rand Paul’s new book after payday this week.

He as been an absolute pain in Fauci’s ass in hearing after hearing. I loved it. And finally evidence is trickling out. I know better than to expect Fauci to be held accountable, but it does make me happy to see Rand work hard and finally get somewhere.

Thanks! I’ll place an order for it soon.
Will a good chunk of the money spent come back as Democratic campaign contributions or lobbying bribes?
If so — more government spending on these programs is the answer!
(And of course… it is so).
On a related note – while I have no interest in the AARP (regardless of them sending me flyers in the mail since I was 1.5 score), hadn’t realized just how skinsuited they’d become. Puppet of United Healthcare, yay. So wish we could roll back to health insurance only for truly catastrophic care, everything else is cash on the barrel head, clearly listed prices, small clinics instead of hospital conglomerates again. Which would require rolling back all the insane regulations bought and paid for by… United Healthcare and friends… funny that.
Anyway, morning all. Morning, Banjos.
It’s amazing how inexpensive basic healthcare is when you look at what insurers actually pay. My $133 doctor visit is actually only $53, my $433 worth of tests is actually $37. Most generic medicines are a few dollars a month.
Trust me it’s significantly higher in my office.
I’m sure the demographics trend as you’d expect.
Morning Banjos,
Looks like you have the early duties every day this week. Thanks
“Experts say 50 million miles of new power lines needed for green energy…”
A lot of copper digging and a lot more opportunities for power failure even in the best scenarios
“Green” energy can’t provide baseload power for the grid, since sometimes the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow. And since battery technology is not capable of storing enough energy for baseload, any grid expansion will require fossil fuels or nuclear.
How about all the people who want green power get smart meters that shut off when there isn’t enough green power?
I think they should voluntarily give up their phones and tablets. And their kids’ phones and tablets.
And their electric cars. Travel by bicycle to work.
Only if you take away their e-bikes.
Given transmission line losses — I keep wondering if our nationalized / megaregion grid is a good idea. Sure, we need to balance power across areas – but distributed production (say in those modular reactors I think someone finally started shipping not long back) for baseline to reduce the need for long-distance power would increase redundancy and efficiency.
From my armchair, having run zero math, granted. Just thinking over coffee before starting actual work.
If that don’t give you some morning wood, nothing will.
Oh, I’m sure California will have granted voting rights to millions of illegal aliens by then and the courts will sit on their hands and do nothing about it because FYTW. So it’s basically a wash…or a net influx of team blue into team red regions…so still more statism no matter what…meh.
We’ll see. The Census Bureau has quit actually counting noses, and now uses models and estimates and whatnot. More or less explicitly because the (tens of?) millions of illegals in the country don’t return census forms. Its reliability/accuracy is probably on par with, I dunno, election returns.
I recall Obama tried to use estimates in 2010 but was blocked.
They absolutely want to model and estimate their way into a permanent majority. They have tried this multiple times, and in the end they will succeed… one way or another.
They did end up winning some concessions on that front…. I don’t remember the details.
Down here in SoFla Broward County schools proudly announced the opening of their new international student welcome center.
They have 58,000 students with English as a second language. Number one this year….. Venezuela.
Zero of those are arriving directly to Florida. Someone is shipping them down here from their port of entry in Texas or California.
But somehow it doesn’t make the evening news like a bussload of 60 migrants sent up to NYC by Texas.
MN and others have been unloading our malcontents to CA (and other places) for decades. We need CA as a repository and not just for snowbirds.
Not me, I’d vastly prefer they stay in their containment state.
Border Patrol agents should be arrested and jailed for cutting that wire.
Yep. It’s not going to stop until somebody gets a gun stuck in their face.
Surely there’s at least a vandalism charge in there somewhere. Destruction of state property? Interfering with a government function? Insurrection?
Federal preemption
Not seeing it. The fence is along the border with Nex Mexico and not the international border. The Feds preemt for international matters but this is intranational.
I know, FYTW.
$8.99 Cereal Could Rock the Globe
That brings us to the price of breakfast cereal. “I almost had a heart attack the other day when I saw a box of cereal for $8.99,” said an Illinois house cleaner. “I was like, ‘Does that come with a gallon of milk too?’ ” I’m sure she’s speaking for many Americans; I know she’s speaking for me. My sense of what things should cost at the grocery store is anchored at pre-pandemic levels, and I find it hard to accept that so many items have risen in price by 30% or more. My wife and I can afford the higher prices, though we sometimes choose not to pay them and do without items we regard as outrageously expensive. What about families with children who are trying to get by on $75,000 a year?
So the old school token lefty at the WSJ has finally come to realize that food prices are important to many Americans. And he realizes this happened during the current administration. And only a WSJ opinion writer would pick $75k instead of the US $46k median wage for a family that is trying to “get by”.
1/2 the folks ain’t making 46K. A family with a couple teenagers can go through 3-4 gallons of milk a week, life is getting tougher just to eat.
Isnt median household income just above $60k? I had the same reaction as you, but I think $46k is the wrong number too.
“Real median household income was $74,580 in 2022,”
Huh, and I was low too. So, nevermind, that $75k is pretty dead on.
Yeah, I searched individual and not family.
“Household income” is fairly broad and includes things like transfer payments and government benefits (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid) for every person in a household. So a 4-person family (mommy, daddy, 2 kids) where each parent is pulling in $25k a piece in wage income, but getting, say, WIC or SNAP plus SCHIP for the kids, and qualifies for Obamacare subsidies or Medicaid, could easily be in that $75k cohort.
In any case, I have no idea where these ~$24/hr wage averages come from. I’ve lived in 3 states in the last 18 years and done a little job hunting in each of them. The medical and government fields must be dragging the averages up, because I’m seeing jobs requiring 10 years of experience or advanced degrees with advertised wages less than that.
And median means half.
So only half of families reach that benchmark
And that also includes older “families”. Not just housholds with a couple of elementary school kids. Those with younger parents are going to skew poorer.
Mike Johnson Becomes Fourth Republican House Speaker Nominee
If the GOP had brains and balls they would nominate and elect Trump for speaker.
They don’t. Far too many are members of the uniparty. That’s why they refuse to elect a Speaker who might (even slightly) reduce spending, borrowing, and funding the forever wars.
My suspicion is that if the Dems win back the House, Jeffries will experience similar problems. I can’t stand Pelosi’s politics, but she knew how to manage her caucus.
Ewwww
Biden Underwater Even in Blue New York
But 81 million totally legitimate votes in the most secure election evar.
You know, hard as it is to imagine, lots of people really did vote for Biden. And they’re probably dumb enough to do it twice.
If you don’t vote for a dem, you’re voting for a nazi. And voting for nazis is bad.
They kept Biden locked in his basement and ran on “Look at the past, Biden is a middle of the road Democrat”. Many people thought we’d get back to some semblance of normal. They were wrong.
Lots of people really did vote for Biden. That’s not hard to imagine. What is hard to imagine is anywhere near 81,000,000 people voting for him.
Wait til you see that 100 million total this time around…..
They had to rig the primary…. but the biggest outpouring of support in the general in history. … yeah, that happened.
I know lots of folks that voted for Biden and that Trump is nowhere near as popular as his supporters think he is. I also think there were shenanigans in certain parts of the country.
And while I’m at it, several of those folks I know that voted for Biden will not vote for Biden again. Not a single one of them will vote for Trump.
I am astonished that he has that kind of support. The last 3+ years have been an unmitigated disaster. And what positives do they have to point to?
Not Trump?
We prosecuted Trump?
Where are the plusses?
Texas Sues Biden Admin For Cutting Border Wire Placed By State Officials
Perhaps state officials should forcibly remove federal officials since the federal officials are facilitating an invasion of the state.
Experts say 50 million miles of new power lines needed for green energy, and that may be impossible
All we need for power is fairy dust and unicorn farts.
Jenna Ellis: Yeah, load people down with a century’s worth of felonies and let them plead to no jail time while threatening them with a jury pool from one of the heaviest Democratic districts in the country. She was railroaded but I don’t particularly blame her for taking the deal either. Anyway, goodbye attorney client privilege because I presume she’ll have to testify if the authorities want it, see also Powell.
Pretty sure that Sydney Powell won’t testify against Trump.
She pleaded to misdemeanors and none of them involve the “conspiracy.”
This was something that both parties needed, but for very different reasons, neither of which has to do with guilt or innocence.
Powell doesn’t want to go broke defending this thing all the way to the Supreme Court, which she would need to because that jury will convict her no matter what.
And the fascists prosecuting this needs some kind of conviction, any kind of conviction, to ensure that if an appellate court ever looks closely at this stupidity, now she can say, “BUT DEY WUZ GUILTIEZ CUZ DEY PLEEDED!!!”
This plea on misdemeanors saves Sydney the likely political conviction, and Willis gets her pelts. Same for the other guy; I’ll bet cooperation isn’t even part of his plea deal.
But the precedent is set – Dems are going to continue to use friendly State prosecutors to conduct political persecutions of their enemies in Team Blue strongholds.
I don’t think we have 10 years left. We can’t go that long this way.
We now have a significant percentage of the population that has zero faith in the justice system, in elections, and in federal law enforcement. That is a very big problem.
And yet incumbents will win 90+ percent of the races in 2024…
I am 100 percent convinced that the US justice department and its subsidiaries are completely corrupted.
And I would have called you a kook for saying that just a few short years ago.
I cannot be alone.
Early voting is a farce. Election day should be election day.
Youngkin’s state will take on highly competitive elections this year, with issues like crime and abortion holding prominence in the contests.
“Given the fact that the rules are the rules, and they’re the ones that I inherited and we have 45 days to vote in Virginia, I’m gonna get everybody out to vote,” Youngkin said on The Hill.
“And therefore, we’ve really pushed hard for people to go to secureyourvotevirginia.com,” Youngkin continued. “Make a plan to vote early.”
Sure, the Republicans should just cede all the legal advantages to the Democrats. That’ll show ’em!!!
You must have misunderstood the part where I believe the “legal advantages” are bullshit.
I have no problem changing the law, but until it is changed, those are the rules.
No need to go to all that trouble, just have the state governor and supreme court sign off on the changes you want. Sure, they may get struck down 2 years later, but by the then the votes have been counted.
Wonder why they couldn’t get a better set of laws passed. The current rules were never passed as laws, were they? Isn’t that state one of the consent decree fortificatio. States? Or am I confused?
Fide Grand Swiss chess tournament starts today on the Isle of Man.
Its one of the major tourneys and also qualifies two players for next years candidates tournaments.
The top two seeds are American, world #2 Fabiano Caruana and #4 Hikaru Nakamura.
Its a 114 player tournament with most of the top players in the world playing. $460k prize pool. However 5 of the top 10 players arent there.
#1 Magnus Carlsen just isnt that interested in classical chess anymore.
#3 Ding Liren isnt playing much since winning the World Championship last year. He was considering retiring before that and is rumored to be having health issues.
#6 Ian Nepomniachtchi is already qualifed for candidates
#9 Vishy Anand upon being elected VP of FIDE announced he wouldnt be playing in FIDE sponsored events anymore due to conflict of interest. The President then told him to STFU and play. He isn’t playing. He is also the best player born in 1969, even including myself.
#10 Wesley So is not there for some reason. Best American not playing.
Todays games of note (player listed first is white, * for American):
Saric (2647) v Caruana* (2786)
Nakamura* (2780) v Svane (2646)
Ponomariov (2641) v Firouzja (2777)
Giri (2760) v Sadhwani (2641)
Mamedov (2640) v Gukesh (2758)
Warmerdam (2636) v Aronian* (2742)
Theodorou (2619) v Sevian* (2698)
Shankland* (2698) v Nguyen (2618)
Xiong* (2693) v Kathikeyan (2611)
Mishra* (2592) v Sarana (2682) — Abhimanyu Mishra is 14 years old
Shevchenko (2671) v Akobian* (2582)
Niemann* (2667) v Amar (2568) — Hans Niemann is the top American Junior…until the year ends, when he isnt considered a junior any more. Mishra, above, is currently #2 behind Christopher Woojin Yoo to take over that spot from Hans…but its close enought than Mishra may have it by the end of the year, if not after this tournament.
Fide Grand Swiss chess tournament
I first read that as Grand Swiss CHEESE tournament.
Also acceptable.
For those who dont know (it came up previously), a Swiss tournament is a tournament where everyone plays all rounds (11 in this case) without eliminations and players are paired based on their scores so far and their ranking. Since for round 1 everyone has a score of 0, ranking is used. #1 plays #58, #2 plays #59, #3 plays #60 etc.
To be clear, in future rounds, players will play players with (usually) the same score as them. Within that group, pairings are determined by pre-tourney ranking. There are some adjustments based on color balance and groups having an odd number of players. And not playing the same opponent twice.
And here I thought it was just one where the competitors sit there with a narrow gaze at each other as they make their moves.
A narrow gaze might be considered a distraction and thus illegal.
Although I like it when a player walks by another board looks at the position and raises an eyebrow. Nakamura did it recently, it was a “how the fuck did you end up in this position?” kind of look.
Saw a clip recently where after a match two players were analyzing the position (this is common) and the player at the next board, while still playing her match, made suggestions about what move should have been played. Good chess players are scary.
Stop! I can only get so erect!
“player listed first is white”

More important-do you identify as a tribe member?
The tribes don’t play that game.
That only works if you are a goodthinker.
My electric co. just won a 62% rate increase on transmission, spread out over two or three years. That’s before building anything new – this is just to maintain the existing infrastructure. It will also help cover the millions in fines for being the least reliable utility in the state.
Yup, it’s a joke of they think anything like that amount of lines could even be built. Not to mention actually funding it.
The problem of battery backup & the associated technology that hasn’t been invented yet is even worse.
The whole thing is delusional. I’m seeing some flickerings of understanding here and there outside the dissident press.
Step 2 after inventing cheap renewable energy is inventing cheap, room temperature superconducting transmission lines.
Step 3 is a free pony. Everyone gets a free pony.
Low T beer is perfect for you.
The UFC has signed a new partnership with Anheuser-Busch that makes Bud Light once again the official beer of the promotion, officials told ESPN on Tuesday. Sources told ESPN that it’s the biggest sponsorship deal in UFC history. Terms were not disclosed.
The multiyear contract, which begins Jan. 1, 2024, comes on the heels of the UFC merging with WWE under parent company Endeavor to form the new publicly traded company TKO last month. UFC and Anheuser-Busch had been partners for many years until 2017, when the UFC signed with Modelo.
What is it with companies that are bound and determined to completely wreck their brand? I guaranteefuckingtee you the UFC audience wants no part of the Bud Light stuff yet they’re going to get it shoved down their throats anyway.
What’s not given in that deal is how much AB In-Bev paid for that partnership, nor what the terms are.
In other words…. if the check is big enough, you will smile and say you are happy to partner with Bud
They just can’t stop using men who enjoy getting pounded for their advertising, I guess.

Because the USG has a right to steal a foreign national’s property.
The Justice Department officially moved Monday to claim a 348-foot superyacht it says belongs to a sanctioned billionaire oligarch known as the “Russian Gatsby.”
In a civil forfeiture claim filed in federal court in New York, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams’ office said that the $300 million vessel, the Amadea, is “beneficially owned” by Suleiman Kerimov and that the “superyacht was improved and maintained in violation of applicable sanctions against Kerimov and those acting on his behalf.”
And we’ll whine like fools when the Russians and/or the Chinese do a tit for tat.
That’s different! It’s piracy when it happens to us.
The yacht was seized in Fiji last year
Without a letter of marque or any kind of court order I would imagine.
“showing Suleiman Kerimov’s clear interest in the Amadea and the repeated misuse of the U.S. financial system to support and maintain the yacht for his benefit”
He was having it maintained which is what the primary violation seems to be other than being a Russian of course. What was he supposed to do, just let it sit there and rust into a heap?
They profess a right to steal US national’s property as well.
Social contract!
How to make sure international trade avoids American banks and, when possible, the ports of our lackeys.
who cares a Gaia killing machine is confiscated from an evil billionaire|? no on should have yachts in the first place.
Oh someone will get a nice yacht at a bargain basement auction price.
Bunter Hiden has put in an offer.
Suleiman. He’s not even Russian. Once again they are picking on black and brown bodies! Or is it Islamophobia?
Poison specialist Connor Bowman fatally poisoned his pharmacist wife and tried to stop autopsy, Minnesota authorities say
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/poison-specialist-connor-bowman-charged-fatally-poisoning-wife-betty-bowman-minnesota/
So this poison “specialist” decides that of all poisons he is going to use colchicine. And after that he decides to research it on Google likely logged in and with search history active.
I’ve taken that stuff for my big toe, dose is the key I suppose. Also, it’s amazing how many otherwise intelligent people get busted for this and that by behaving stupidity with their browsers on the internet and this appears to be yet another example.
The quality of our ‘experts’ ladies and gentlemen.
Believable, tbh. Especially for someone in that age cohort. Most people literally live their entire digital lives logged into their Google account either on their phone or Google’s spy OS masquerading as a web browser. I used to harangue the younger kids I played video games with on this all the time.
Biden won’t appear on New Hampshire Democratic primary ballot
President Joe Biden won’t file to have his name appear on the 2024 New Hampshire Democratic primary ballot, his reelection campaign said Tuesday, opting to skip a contest that the state plans to hold in defiance of a revamped primary order that the White House has championed.
Julie Chavez Rodriguez, manager of Biden’s reelection campaign, wrote in a letter to New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley that “while the president wishes to participate in the primary, he is obligated to comply” with party rules.
“The president looks forward to having his name on New Hampshire’s general election ballot as the nominee of the Democratic Party after officially securing the nomination at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, where he will tirelessly campaign to earn every single vote in the Granite State next November,” Rodriguez wrote.

Kevin, how much strategic thinking have we had in the last five or six administrations? I think we both know…
None of course. Just saying now would be nice.
Right now, it would be even nicer to have someone with even just a bit of humility instead of overwhelming hubris.
Genuinely I ask, what is British culture? Born in the UK and lived here for 40 years and yet we are constantly told ‘we’re not integrating’.
Not Integrating into what culture exactly?

what a stupid question… Like one cannot tell a places culture if one visits.

Then why does she look like a skank in her profile picture?
She needs to cover up like a good Muslim girl.

Speaking of British culture… how would the average American rate that bacon?
Undercooked. Only acceptable as sandwich filling.
Dafuq is that in the middle? Tell me it’s not eggs.
scrambled
undercooked and where is the pepper?
many would call those overcooked especially if they like Gordon Ramsey style. It is a think I noticed many brits do not like pepper with their eggs, and of those who do many want white pepper not black
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s5G1lr61VQ
By somebody who doesn’t know how to do scrambled eggs properly. The curd should be in large-ish pieces, not all in little bits like that. “Scrambling” is the process of mixing the yolk and white up before you cook it, not demolishing it after you cook it.
And yeah, when you’re there you just have to shift your definition of bacon. I worked in the UK for about 6 months many years back, and getting back to American bacon was nice.
What Americans call bacon is the pork belly and British call bacon the back or side of the pig. For Canadians I think it’s only ever the back.
It’s a different cut of pig entirely.
Obviously pork belly is vastly superior.
brits also call the belly bacon, only they say streaky bacon. And claim pork belly works better roasted in thick cuts
Those people and their minor culture differences disgust me.
I had a plate of pork belly the other night. It was delicious. I was unable to find you in time for the meet up. Do you have a burner email or something you can put in the forum so I can find you?
Bacon? Looks like ham.
And again with the beans, and what is with the shiny turds sitting in some sort of white sauce I can’t identify. Next to the mushrooms. 🤢

I peeled the warning labels off my sun visors (not a Kia) because they are ugly.
Good news is maybe it will displace fentanyl.
The proposed ban has faced worries from critics who say it could lead to heightened border problems with Mexican drug cartels saturating the U.S. black market with the prohibited products. Politico reported that it has also divided Black leaders, with some arguing it would lead to over-policing against the community

This country has no better problems to solve than the scourge of menthol flavored tobacco.
Heh heh, menthols… black market…
The new puritanism is fucking weird, honestly. Lower the age for voting and fucking to 11, but raise the age for tobacco, alcohol, legal weed and – horror of horrors! – gambling to 35.

Hard hitting stuff.
She sleeps with 300 men a year but calls one a “regular”.
I think she means she sleeps with a variety of men about 300 times a year. It’s almost certainly a pool of guys. You cannot keep 300 different men straight if it’s a different one each night. No fucking way.
At least her pimp gives her some days off.

“While 70% of Democrats view Biden favorably, and 70% of Democrats approve of the job he’s doing, 52% of Democrats say they want a different presidential nominee in 2024,”
Don’t worry, they’ll ask still pull the lever for the blue candidate.
The time is rapidly drawing to a close where the Dems can pull the switcheroo to Newsom. It looks increasingly likely they are gonna run Bidenharris. There is now a very good chance that Trump wins next year, although it’s a bit far out to give predictions as too much can happen.
They’re not gonna pull a switcheroo. This reminds of how of the dumb theory they were gonna replace Biden w/ Kamala that ever right winger was convinced of.
Biden will be elected easily and they’ll all vote for him.
Then, Newsom will be president next time.
Biden said back in 2015 that if he ran it would be as a one term presidency, hence the BidenHarris marketing. Memories are short.
I have zero hope of Trump winning. I don’t think the Dems will or need to do any switcheroo.
Your optimism is enjoyable, thanks.
You two are way too pessimistic.
I think Trump will actually be in prison by election Day.
There’s a good chance of that. Won’t hurt his chances though absent being purged off of the ballot which would certainly be attempted at least.
Trump winning from prison just isn’t going to happen. Nobody is going to believe it’s plausible even if he did pull it off, so that’s an easy one to fortify your way out of. Colorado is presently setting up the precedent to get Trump removed from state ballots, which will probably be the more likely maneuver. If it comes right down to it I suspect he’ll just be assassinated. Inb4 “they’ll never do that, that would make him a martyr!” You don’t get it. They don’t give a fuck. The brazenness is the entire point. It’s about demoralization and demonstrating power now. You’re supposed to know it’s a sham. Making you eat shit while denying your lying eyes either makes you into a complicit pussy or a helpless defeated foe.
Being in prison didn’t stop Lyndon LaRouche from running for president.
Didn’t see him win anything either.
If the election were held today I think Trump wins hands down (despite Dem election fortifying). It’s over a year away, so there are too many variables to predict what will happen then, but he stands decent odds of winning. I very much hope our greasy Guv never ever gets a sniff at the Presidency, but who knows what 2028 brings. That’s looking ever more likely to be his run, instead of this year. I also think we have passed peak woke. That shit is going to be more and more of a drag on the Dems until the higher ups ditch it.
A quote from Bari Weiss from yesterday:
“ The events of the last week have shattered the illusion that wokeness is about protecting victims and standing up for persecuted minorities. This ideology is and has always been about the one thing many of us have told you it is about for years: power.
“And after the last two weeks, there can be no doubt about how these people will use any power they seize: they will seek to destroy, in any way they can, those who disagree.”
Trump has hit his ceiling. He won’t win shit.
They are going to run Biden. It is too late to do otherwise. The thing that scares me is the Dems have completely abandoned all ethics and the rule of law. They are already very far down that road and I don’t see them turning back. They will do anything, ANYTHING to make sure Trump doesn’t win. I have no idea what they will do next.
Prison or…well, you know…
They don’t need to do much to make sure Trump doesn’t win. All that’s needed is changing the ballot counts like they did in VA. The counts are all made up. We’re deep in banana republic territory that’s presided by a uniparty publicly composed of both the Dems and eGOP.
All of this currently with Trump isn’t to make sure he doesn’t run/win. They could care less…. easy enough to delete another 100k votes with the press of a button. This is all to punish him and anyone that doesn’t support them.
What will you say if he wins? Will it negate your theory?
Yes, absolutely. I don’t believe it’s possible for anyone outside of the uniparty to win an election again. The whole premise being that winning is an illusion for the masses because elections are just for show. Same as in any other banana republic where the inner party of the government rules completely.
If Trump or anyone outside of the uniparty wins an election, that would definitely negate this and make me rethink that the elections are just for show.
I agree with you here. I hope Trump wins and proves us both wrong.

Perusing the headlines, I saw one about Trump raging as former “acolytes” turn against him under legal heat.
It’s the fucking Inquisition, just with less obvious forms of torture. Heretics and false gods, all the way down.
My favorite in the past week was a headline talking about a new channel (NewsMax IIRC) “angrily” cutting away from a Biden speech.
Why?
California Gov. Newsom meets Xi Jinping in China.
You have to meet your benefactor at some point. Not doing so would be rude.
Greasy Gav bonded with Xi over their hair products and love of authoritarianism.
He’s trying to look Presidential for his run in 28. That shot will be in his campaign commercial showing his leadership capabilities.
Boy is that going to backfire.
Oh I very much hope it will. I disliked him when he was mayor and at this point I despise his smarmy ass so much I try not to listen to more than a couple words of whatever he spouts off about.
Was this after his trip to Israel?
Why even have diplomats? Just send governors and regional ones at that.
Sectarianist violence looms
Researchers found that an overwhelming majority of Americans believe democracy is ‘at risk’ in the upcoming presidential election — and about a quarter of those surveyed said they think “American patriots may have to resort to violence to save the country.”
“I think we’re in for a pretty challenging election season between now and the presidential election in 2024,” said Robert Jones, the CEO and founder of the PRRI — a nonpartisan group that conducts research on the intersection of politics, culture and religion.
According to the PRRI study, 75% of Americans surveyed said they agree that the “future of American democracy is at risk in the 2024 presidential election.” Democrats were more likely to hold this view with 84% support, but supermajorities of Republicans and independent voters said they also agreed with that statement.
Jones told NPR the most disturbing finding, however, is that more Americans support political violence. Nearly a quarter of Americans (23%) agree that “because things have gotten so far off track, true American patriots may have to resort to violence in order to save our country,” according to the survey. This is up from 15% in 2021.
In a statement, PRRI researchers say they have asked about this in “eight separate surveys since March 2021.” They said that “this is the first time support for political violence has peaked above 20%” in their survey results
Save us, Joe! Drive out the MAGA-ites. Smite them. Crucify their orange fakir.
I do fear I’m going to end up having to kill some people trying to save me from myself before I die. I can’t say for sure which political label they’ll be wearing.
Jones says he thinks these views are a symptom of continued polarization in the country’s politics. He also blamed a spillover effect created by the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
“I think the temperature is high and people feel the sense that the guardrails are down,” Jones explained. “We did have the first non-peaceful transfer of power in the last election and I think that still is resonating across the years and into this new election cycle.”
It’s not too early for martial law.
The survey also found that a majority of Americans trust public school teachers to select appropriate curriculum and they oppose the banning of books that discuss slavery.
“The vast majority of Americans say they actually trust those professionals to choose appropriate books and inappropriate curriculum for their children,” Jones said. “So, you know, we’re hearing some very loud voices, I think, on this front about what’s happening in public schools. For the most part, Americans trust their teachers and really are not behind these bans.”
Nonpartisan.
You just have to ask questions formulated to give you the answers you want.

Banning books on math?
Almost cost me my coffee !
*sigh* who’s banning books that teach slavery? I’ve taught slavery every single semester I’ve been teaching and no one, even in a red state has ever questioned me. OTOH, I manage to teach slavery without using Critical Race Theory.
Oh, so you manage to whitewash history, then, Nazi?

Refusing to recognize your status as dhimmi.

Yeah, but they also mislabel Italians and Greeks as white.
Was this after his trip to Israel?
Yes. After he verified the Hamas war crimes, he went to China for a powow with Xi, ostensibly to burnish his eco-salvationist credentials, although I’m not sure how much traction that gets in China. I don’t think he’s going to generate much goodwill by scolding them for burning all that coal.
But he looks Presidential to the right people.

Young German-Arabs in Hamburg calling for another Holocaust:

I could be wrong, but I don’t think the Arabs rated much higher in the Nazi hierarchy of primitive races then the Jews or the Gypsies. He might want to think carefully about this.
Ah but if you have woke Nazis things will be different/
I know. It’s from Wikipedia. Bit it was an easy grab:
“In speeches, Hitler purportedly made apparently warm references towards Muslim culture, such as: “The peoples of Islam will always be closer to us than, for example, France”.[11] Hitler was transcribed as saying: “Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers […] then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world.”[12]
This exchange occurred when Hitler received Saudi Arabian ruler Ibn Saud’s special envoy, Khalid Al Hud Al Gargani.[13] Earlier in this meeting, Hitler noted that one of the three reasons why Nazi Germany had some interest in the Arabs was:
[…] because we were jointly fighting the Jews. This led him to discuss Palestine and the conditions there, and he then stated that he himself would not rest until the last Jew had left Germany. Khalid Al Hud observed that the Prophet Mohammed […] had acted the same way. He had driven the Jews out of Arabia […][14]”

Technically, the Aryan race was supposed to have descended from the Indo-Iranians, so the non-Semitic and non-Hamite Arab clans might qualify.

I’m no baseball expert, but according to what I heard on the radio, the Diamondbacks going to the World Series means that every team that has ever beaten the Brewers in the playoffs has gone on to the World Series. So I guess all the Brewers have to do is field another team and they might get there eventually, by beating themselves.

War is bad for tourism
“What we see is more jitters in what has already been an anxious world,” Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva told a panel hosted by CNBC’s Dan Murphy at the Future Investment Initiative Institute conference in Riyadh.
“And on a horizon that had plenty of clouds, one more — and it can get deeper.”
Georgieva said that the economic fallout from the war, now in its third week, would be “terrible” for the sides involved, as well as have significant repercussions for the region. Those include negative impacts on trade and tourism.
“It is terrible in terms of economic prospects for the epicenter for the war,” she said. ”[There will be] negative impact on the neighbors: on trade channels, on tourism channels, cost of insurance.”
Georgieva noted that countries including Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan were already feeling the ramifications.
“Uncertainty is a killer for tourists inflows. Investors are going to be shy to go to that place,” she said.
That’s some top notch economic analysis, right there.
Now do unconstrained government spending.

Re: Pie’s links on the German-Arabs and Lesbian Jews
This feels very much like the lead up to WWII to me. The dividing lines are getting sharper and the rhetoric more and more violent with little fires popping up all around us.
We also have a president in frail health that the media is giving a nonstop tonguebath.
What a spooktacular asshole.
In a letter to parents earlier this month, Superintendent Ronald Taylor said some students may not feel included in celebrations for the spookiest of holidays.
The financial impact of Halloween on families, cultural and religious differences, and potential “tensions with the equity and access values” of the district were factors in the decision, Taylor said.
“I know this may make some uncomfortable and elicit some challenges across our
community. However, in the end, I feel these recommendations align with SOMSD’s
commitment to building equity, fostering inclusion, and building a sense of belonging
throughout our schools,” Taylor said.
And who, pray tell, is not included in Halloween?
Certain conservative Christians do not celebrate Halloween.
But I am sure he is referring to some other, more favorable demographic.
That’s local to me.
We put a bid on house there that fell through. My wife and I thank our stars that it did, despite it being quite a nice place. It was woke at that point, but now is crazy. It’s full of hipsters from Brooklyn who couldn’t afford a family in Brooklyn and moved there.

Sci-Am died over a decade ago.
Why am I not surprised?
A New York University Law School student whose job offer from an international law firm was rescinded for remarks seen as insensitive to victims of the Hamas attack on Israel said they would continue to speak out.
Ryna Workman, who uses the pronouns they/them, told ABC News that speaking out was a matter of human rights.
“I will continue to speak up for Palestinian human rights and use whatever platform I have available to me to call for a ceasefire and end this occupation that’s harming the Palestinians,” Workman told ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis Tuesday in an exclusive interview.
That’s okay, I’m pretty sure them’ll get scooped up by the Ford Foundation or some other legitimate organization untainted by filthy profit-seeking and capitalist colonialism.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. El Yucateco makes some fantastic hot sauces. The Habanero Caribbean one and the XXXtra Hot sauce are highly recommended. Just opened a fresh bottle of the XXXtra and it is wonderful on eggs with a heaping mound of homemade pico de gallo on the side. That one is the roasted habanero version so it has a bit of smokiness,

Perhaps so, but he cuddled up to the Russians, too, until it was no longer convenient.
“This targeting of students that’s happening is a really strong suppression campaign, and it’s hurting students and only the students who are actively being targeted for saying things or being in solidarity with Palestine,” Workman told ABC News. “It does a lot of harm to higher education when students who come to these universities into these institutions to find their voice are now being told that certain things that they say will not be acceptable.”
It’s terrible when the wrong people are silenced. Leaving aside the what-about-ist arguments, we can always fall back on “actions have consequences”. It’s an oldie but a goody.
