Good morning my Glibs and Gliberinas! It’s that wonderful time again to sit down, sip that coffee, bitch about traffic to your coworker and enjoy another fantastic day and the links!

That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.
I never got the pets wearing clothes thing.
Then let me introduce you to G. Clifford Prout, Jr, who could be your spirit animal.
Awesome. That is some quality trolling.
yep, and hilarious.
One too many cat butts.
Those are Basinji’s. I do not know how you can get clothes on them.
“SCOTUS May Consider If States Can Ban Honking at Political Rallies”
Can they ban geese? Those people are assholes.
They will soon ban opposition remarks and people too..
“Hundreds of Students Storm Hallways of NYC School in Search of Teacher Who Attended Pro-Israel Protest”
I doubt any of those students have any understanding of the situation.
It’s an excuse to engage in some righteous violence! What else is there to understand?
They seem so thoughtful.
“Shocking moment mob of NYC schoolkids repeatedly punch school cop – a week before Jewish teacher was forced to HIDE from ‘radicalized’ students demanding she be fired for attending pro-Israel rally”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12794423/mob-NYC-schoolkids-punch-cop.html
I suspect there is some important information missing from this story.
All they need to know is that BLM is Pro-Palestinian, because reasons, and Israel, and by implication (((them))), bad.
I honestly want to know whether those students had a handler, some type of upstream person feeding them info and directing their actions.
This is Chicomm cultural revolution 101. The oppressed vs. the oppressors. Just like they have been thought to believe only people with power can be racists (who knew that all we had to do is send all KKK people to Africa, and presto, they would stop being racist), they believe all people coming from a position of strength are evil, and no evil can be done by the oppressed. I hope life fucks them over hard to show them how fucking stupid this shit is.
I’m pretty sure the Revs. Jackson, Sharpton, Mohammed etc. could tell you the reasons.
I know BoA shut down a lot around here 6 or so years back. I’m sure the pandemic made things worse — if people aren’t coming in often to do banking (online checking, online load applications, etc.) — why should they keep branches open? Next phase is (I’m sure) pushing digital payments to the point they can start shutting down ATMs as well. Wouldn’t want to be a teller or low level loan officer right now, that’s for sure.
Lots of brick and mortar stores closed because internet. Book and record shops are near extinction.
I am not sure that is true. I see plenty of bookstores that have weathered the big-box retailers and internet. Record stores are I think going to make a slight comeback and while niche, kids/teens/young adults as finding them to be a more personal experience. Like still going to a rental store…you get to talk to someone passionate about what they are doing since it is most likely their life’s work.
It’s not just that people can buy treeware or circles of plastic online, it’s that they can download digital versions.
16 record stores in the Cinci/NKY area…that isn’t dying.
Just as many bookstores to include big-box.
Sure you can download the digital version, but again, people are still searching for that personal connection. Hell they may mosey into a shop and eventually just get the digital version, but it is far from going extinct.
Tower, Borders, Blockbuster, etc. all gone. Maybe Cinci/NKY area is an outlier.
It isn’t though, that is what I am trying to tell you. Charleston WV has 6 record stores. Some are probably hobbyist and make just enough to keep the lights on, but they aren’t going away and I would wager, do online dealings too for collectors, etc.
How many were there in 2002?
The mall by my house used to have 2 record stores, 2 book stores, and that wasn’t uncommon. Now there is one specialty book store that is like the one in Portlandia. The local record store chain is down to 2 locations from about a dozen.
OBE is right, book and record stores are doing OK. Once the weeding took place, and the stores that had no idea how to run a business were crushed by the internet, the rest have been doing pretty well for them selves. I know of a new bookstore opening, another changing hands, a thriving couple record stores, not to mention comic shops doing well, and this is just in rural Oregon.
As with any changes in industry or marketplaces, it’s those that can adapt. I think there are more comic bookstores now than when I was a kids in the 80s. Though, government instituted lockdowns was another crushing force and if you made it out of that, well damn, you obviously have a good foothold in the market.
My company is old school. On payday we get paper checks – no option for direct deposit. A lot of my coworkers take a photo of their check and deposit it electronically. I’ve never logged in to my bank account on my smartphone. On payday, I drive over to the credit union, sign my check and deposit it the way God intended.
I had to recently go to my local branch to have them notarize my employment docs to prove that I am eligible to work in the US.
I was hired during the pandemic so all I had to do was provide a copy of my passport to prove I was legit. That “loophole” closed last spring and my company had to make everyone who was hired during the pandemic go somewhere to get their working docs verified and notarized. What a pain in the ass.
Since my company is 100% remote, there were a lot of us in the same boat.
Yet whenever I try to go to the bank, the line is long or I need to make an appointment ahead of time. They spent all this money on developing digital tools, and now they’re looking for ways to pay for it all, regardless of customer preference.
Trump “Seriously Looking at Alternatives” to Obamacare
You fuckers had the chance to get rid of that monstrocity in 2017 and you didn’t. Now we are stuck with it forever. Fuck you, Repubs.
Damned straight. Craven assholes.
Hear hear!
*Bangs republican heads in table
I’m considering the possible interpretations of “banging … heads IN table” and all the options are pretty disturbing.
Notice individual responsibility is never in the cards.
Reminds me of the chin-stroking at TOS when repealing OCare was on the table. A clean repeal is never an option. No, we must replace it with some other government program. The only topic of interest is, what more can the government do for us?
It was always repeal and replace. Repeal and replace. The talking point was the repubs had nothing to replace it with. I was screaming, it doesn’t need replaced. Just get rid of the the damn thing.
When is the last time an entitlement has been withdrawn?
But PEOPLE MIGHT LOSE THEIR HEALTH CARE.
Funny thing is: we know for basically fact now that increasing health care coverage “in name” actually has no effect on outcomes whatsoever. We already suspected this. Even though it’s so difficult to study, the Oregon study had lead us right to those conclusions.
We also know that the people on government health care have the worst outcomes. Worse than people with no health care. This is likely just because of demographics, but we should be appalled at attempts to expand it.
Really, ACA is tip of the ice burg for me. I would repeal every goddamn thing about health care in this country if I could. But it’s not that popular. Even repealing ACA isn’t popular anymore. It’s a permanent fixture now because people have gotten used to paying for it and shittier, more expensive health care.
Exactly this. It’s an entirety empty promise.
They didn’t have a chance. Never really controlled the senate.
It was the same whining from Democrats when they thought they controlled the same but really 2 or 3 senators were actually squishy.
You need better margins and republicans weren’t popular enough.
I dont much care about their mealy-mouthed excuses.
Repeal the goddamned thing and be done with it.
“The ACA is hereby repealed.” That’s it, just like prohibition. Stop fucking around.
I think it’s hilarious that people think this is Ted Cruz’s fault instead of Rino chicks from Alaska and Maine.
Id suggest voting for … dunno.. maybe more actual Republicans next time rather than being mad at the 95% who tried to kill ACA.
That seems smarter to me personally.
The Overton window has moved so far to the left I have a hard time guessing how people in certain cultural groups will vote. When I see how they actually do vote I can only shake my head in disbeleif.
I remember 6 years of grandstanding and campaining by the R side vowing to undo the thing if we just give them congress and the presidency. Low and behold, it 2017 and Trump is in the white house and they have both houses of congress. A repeal bill is thwarted by the likes of McCain (May his tumor be forever honored) and company and then it is never brought up again. Almost like they never meant to do anything in the first place.
3 people who were so-called “Rinos” killed it. How they would vote on the issue was never in any doubt.
Republicans didn’t have the votes — very clearly — ever and
no one with political understanding thought they did.
If the world’s most idiotic voters want to be mad about Republicans as a whole for that and punish them by
not voting I am sure this suits their enemies just fine.
They are already the world’s stupidest voters. A fat asshole who locked down the country for covid and spent over a trillion dollars is leading the polls by huge margins. He has cost Republicans 4 major elections already.
Being mad at the actual Republicans who wanted to repeal ACA because not enough of these actual Republicans were elected strikes me as unsurprising.
Because it’s not actually the world’s dumbest party. It’s the world’s dumbest voters.
My recollection is repeal would have passed if all the Senate Repubs had voted for it.
Correct. It was killed by 3 senators who were Republicans in name but never were going to repeal it.
If you “control” the senate by a couple senators you don’t actually control it to do anything real. A lesson the democrats recently learned as well.
Being mad at the republicans because only like 48 supported the repeal is just hilarious to me.
You were never gonna repeal Obamacare with such a slim lead.
That’s not because of real Republicans. It’s because you never had enough real republicans in the senate and everyone knew it. You weren’t popular enough.
I dunno, Urthona. It just smells to me like so many other staged votes, where a certain outcome is not quite achieved but the various legislators manage to somehow all vote in a certain way (for or against) based on some factor other than what the issue is.
And “Republicans in name only” are nonetheless real Republicans in every way that matters, in good standing with the party itself.
You know what I mean. No party with this level of lead is gonna repeal ACA. Or do anything significant. That’s not enough control in the senate.
I have heard that theory about many things and it’s possible that the vote was staged to near miss. Possible with a lot of things. But no way for me to know.
This conversation always gets lost in the weeds. The fact is they promised and failed to deliver. They need to deliver or pack their shit and find another line of work. No excuses.
I dunno. Personally I’d like to see if 56 Republican Senators could do it. That seems like a wiser test.
If you’re talking about primaries, though, then by all means.
You are technically correct (the best kind of correct), but the GOP was never really serious about repealing Obamacare.
If they had had 60+ votes in the Senate, my gut tells me that they would have found some other way to make sure that they didn’t do anything that might endanger their phony-baloney jobs.
The GOP loves to run on things that they know fire up their base, but they have no intentions of ever actually doing them.
At least they aren’t alone *glances at the Dems calling for Guantanamo to shut down*
That was shithead McCain.
He drew the short straw? “Someone has to throw it, looks like it’s you Mav.”
Peeing on his grave is on my bucket list.
I can’t even remember a party with that level of lead in the senate doing anything major.
I still remember the shenanigans that had to be done even just for Obamacare in the first place.
It’s usually a good thing that passing shit is so hard. But not when it comes to repealing shit.
Can we parade the headless corpse of John “shitstain” McCain around, as it was that fucker who kept O-care from being killed.
Now do Mary Landrieu.
Wasn’t she always for O-care, and promised to vote against its repeal? In anycase, McStain campaigned on repeal, and refused to vote to kill the fuckin’ thing.
“Eventually the man was seized by officers from the Anaheim Police Department on suspicion of indecent exposure and being under the influence of a controlled substance.”
How do they know he was under the influence of a controlled substance? Maybe he was just crazy.
I worked at Domino’s back in the day. One of our drivers went missing on a run. They found his car by MPLS/Saint Paul Intl airport. He had stripped his clothes off and jumped a fence and was streaking down the runway naked. In January. His issue was he wasn’t on his drugs.
I wonder if not having a mental illness has left me deprived of some inserting adventures…
When you have stories like this to tell, mental illness might be a step up for people with boring lives….
On the other hand, trying to fuck a porcupine like I heard some guy off his meds did might not be the fun adventure to tell people about…
Can’t believe it has to be said but, mental illness isn’t fun.
‘Good’ stories are your consolation prize for having a shitty life.
I don’t want to know what he lost to frostbite.
My first thought was “Duff Beer for me, Duff Beer for you; I’ll have a Duff, you have one too….”
Reset the government structure and budget to 1969 would be nice…okay, NASA gets less because they’re not doing Apollo…
My confidence that Mr. Germaphobe “I’m going to listen to the Top. Men. and shut down the economy and shovel cash at things” preceded by Mr. “Congress passed my tax cuts… lets raise spending some more too!” is decidedly on the left side of the origin in my mind’s Cartesian plane.
NASA is indeed (re-)doing Apollo. We are supposed to do an orbital flight around the moon in 2024, then land on a future mission.
This time it’s the PRC that we’re trying to beat. A moonbase is the best manned space exploration “first” they can achieve (Mars too ‘spensive, etc). With modern computer technology they can stage unmanned supplies and habitat on the moon then bring the people when that’s setup. They don’t even have to have a way back at first, they can resupply them indefinitely until they figure that out.
SLDs about most of what NASA does.
Except Artemis is just a giant slush trough to Boeing and farming graft out to the districts of Congress-critters with the SLS. It isn’t going to happen, but it will cost us billions before they give up on it.
Meanwhile, I think Elon will make it to Mars before he dies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZHoYqn14W0
Yep any space agency or company not putting camera’s on the vehicle or having the ability to capture the landing is suspect.
Watch again. They had a camera man standing by at just the right distance and angle to capture the historic event.
But of course — when one side preaches (and believes in the foot soldier level) that “words are violence” and they must be kept safe from “emotional trauma” said words cause — then speech that makes them uncomfortable must be treated as terroristic threats of violence… while the other side (which doesn’t preach that their fee fees are sacred) just has to suck it up. Yay.
“when one side preaches (and believes in the foot soldier level) that “words are violence” ”
My answer to these idiots is that I will inflict some real violence on their stupid asses so they have a frame of reference….
I bet you they will never say something as stupid as words are violence again unless they are off their meds.
Been asking myself that a lot lately.
I suppose it didn’t occur to all the mothers there to point and sing in unison “It’s a SMALL world after all!” Public shaming is still effective, after all.
…maybe he’s into that?
Anti-bullying increased childhood obesity.
You raise an interesting point – doesn’t look like decades of anti-bullying preaching in school has made any difference, if what happened in that school are any indication. You don’t suppose they’ll say “Welp, that didn’t work. Shut it down, boys”, do you?
Yep. Children are often viscous little shits and no amount of social engineering will ever change that.
I hate sticky children.
Thank you Fallout soundtrack… 😉
One of the better songs to wipe out a town to.
Am I the only person who doesn’t know songs via videogames?
More olde-tymey videogame music:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CPbg9ljE4M
No — but the Fallout series goes heavy on good ones from the 40s and 50s because of their aesthetic of “The 50s culture locked in place… and everything went atomic because SCIENCE! before the War”.
Plus I expect their either public domain or really cheap. 😉
So there’s a lot of good ones a lot of us know from wandering the Wastelands and keeping the radio on is all.
I’ll regularly look up a song on Youtube and see comments about how they loved this song in X video game. Or “videogame x brought me here”.
I will say that that soundtrack sounds like a lot of fun.
Yeah, most video games don’t have soundtracks of pre-existing music.
I haven’t played that series but I can’t think of another that might. … GTA maybe?
The guitar hero type games and the skating games come to mind.
Nope. I don’t even play video games.
You ain’t the only one, sister.
I don’t understand the appeal of video games at all. I can barely watch TV anymore.
Look out your window, there may be people on your lawn.
“Oh?” *grabs shotgun and peeks between Venetian blinds*
Nope. I don’t do video games either.

Sloopy isn’t doing links today – so no sports…. but did want to say: F1 Abu Dhabi… mostly a yawn fest as expected (Max isn’t quite lapping the field, but only because I think he decides to go easy on his tires…). Whether Mercedes would hold off Ferrari on points enough to stay number 2 in Constructors was the only drama.
Contrast with the F2 races, that were much more dramatic (championship deciders) and fun to watch. Frankly, F2 and F3 are the best reason to pay for F1 these days.
I think Logan Sargent has raced his last race for Williams. Didn’t even manage to post a lap time in Q1. Exceeded track limits on turn 1 twice. Ugh
I can not argue with you there.
As much as I like him – I don’t think Ricciardo has been lighting up the track either. Granted, he hasn’t had a great car – but he’s very much seemed a place holder. Wouldn’t surprise me if the next reshuffle of the midpack bumps him back to a reserve driver or he retires.
Meanwhile, Alonso seems like he’ll keep pushing until he’s 4×20. 😉

Big Day: Outpatient is typical Group from 10-1130. Then I head up to official onboarding at 12:30. They’re gonna take pics, give me my official wear and swag, etc. Fill out my bio and all that jazz. Then from there on I’m gonna shadow/observe/do whatever it is we’re doing. It’s an incredibly easy gig. Just like my private academies (hagwon) in Korea. Work 1:45-6:15pm Mon-Fri fro $15.50. My exp gave me an immediate bump from starting $12. I’m gonna be lots older than most workers. Mostly just-outta-college grads, methinks. *wink*
With my boyish good looks, legit experience and natural (and learned) ability, I’ve got Mentorship and Upward written all over me. My disabilities will come into my favor. I actually predict this could have interesting romantic possibilities. Really, it just looks good on my resume and it’s got perfect hours for what I need right now. Pretty sweet. This won’t be a big deal when I decide to bounce to something new. I will certainly go for six-months at least, but ya never know what can happen. Could legit go places I am interested in. Museums and other state orgs are interested in me as well for Summer side-quests or possible Main Attractions.
Big Things Day has begun, liftoff in T-Minus 50 min. Take care!
BBC: “Man arrested over shooting of three Palestinian students–A 48-year-old man has been arrested over the shooting of three US students of Palestinian descent in Vermont and will appear in court on Monday…The attack comes as the US deals with a surge in Islamophobic and antisemitic incidents, including violent assaults and online harassment, since the Israel-Hamas conflict began on 7 October. While all three victims survived, they are currently receiving medical care and one “sustained much more serious injuries,” the Burlington Police Department said in a statement. Two are US citizens, and one is a legal resident, police added.”
Hrm. “They attended Ramallah Friends School, a Quaker-run private non-profit school in Ramallah…”)
This should be interesting. I’m certainly on the 48-hour-wait for this. Nothing direct in the BBC so far. Sorry for copy-pasta. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67539809
Local news stations are running this as a hate crime by whitey.
I saw somewhere the victims families had been at pro-Palestinian rallies recently. I’m imagining things were said that so far I have not read in print.
Methinky this is for a reason. We aren’t supposed to fill in the blanks. First impression: Shooter lost his shit hearing some “Kill Jews!” shit at a pro-Hamas rally and decided to whip it out. Shall see.
Two of them were wearing the colors when shot (according to the nooz).
That’s one hell of a conflation there, Beeb — you prevaricating weasels.

“Footage shows mask-wearing crowds piling into an ‘overwhelmed’ Beijing hospital amid fears over mystery pneumonia sweeping country – but China insists flu and usual winter bugs are to blame, NOT a new virus”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12794953/China-says-FLU-known-viruses-blame-mystery-wave-pneumonia-overwhelming-hospitals.html
No.
Humans are panicky animals.
One of the better lines in a movie.
“A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals, and you know it.”
Virus should reach the United States around February or March. Lockdowns and mask mandates implemented. Schools go virtual. Vote by mail enacted everywhere. Biden hides in his basement. Seems vaguely familiar.
If it is in China visibly now, I expect it is already in the Bay Area due to the heavy cross traffic and will start showing in December as “strange” but be more obvious in Feb and March.
That was 2020, anyway.
Isn’t vote my mail still everywhere?
I think — fortunately — the tolerance for another pandemic is not high enough. Maybe in another hundred years.
In NY you’re supposed to have a valid reason, just like in the old days.
Instead, there is like a week of “early voting”. 🙄
“Early voting” to me is preferable to the mail in stuff. I hate the mail in stuff because I can so easily imagine ways to game the system.
Yup. Vote-by-mail is complete bullshit. We condemn other countries for pulling that shit.
Even early voting is ripe for disaster. Watermarks are a thing and you can “print” onto paper ballots what people cannot see but a computer can and presto! You know the leads/losses of precincts weeks in advance so you can bolster the area to get your guy across the finish line.
“ways to game the system.”
Envelopes must have return addresses. “How is Mr. X registered? Republican. OK, toss it in the trash can. Ms. Y is a registered Democrat. Put her’s in the ‘Open and Count’ bin.”
Junk mail voting is indeed permanently (apparently) ensconced everywhere. Secure and reliable elections are a thing of the [ast, thanks to
Securing Our Democracy(tm).
“….virus should reach the United States around February or March…”
Just like it has every year since forever.
Fucking China. Stop eating toad assholes, bat wings and digging shit out of. the sewer to spice up your cuisine.
There is a reason this shit always comes out of China – the Chinese.
I have to hand it Trump, he’s good at playing the game. “Remember that issue that was the highest priority for Democrats just a few years ago? I do.”
“This is what happens when someone dares you to drink the water”
Thought this was going to be in Florida.
You won’t be surprised about the outcome.

Heh, probably the FBI would be getting their own account info sent to them.
Consider where mankind would be without thugs, perverts, lunatics, grifters, control freaks etc.

“UPDATE: California Governor Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to Face Off in Live Debate in Alpharetta, Georgia — Moderated by Sean Hannity”
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/11/update-california-governor-gavin-newsom-florida-governor-ron/
But why?
I think it’s cool.
Likely, about .1% of Americans will watch it but California vs. Florida is the debate about America’s future I’m most interested in.
The system is breaking down in parts and I’m fine with it. Trump is at 60% and just drops interview at the same time as the useless debates. And now we have an additional debate outside the normal framework. Good.
Hannity can barely string a coherent sentence together. I don’t trust him to call out Greaseball’s whoppers.
Weird that this guy is the moderator.
His one on one interview I think confirms your suspicions.
For our amusement. And I’ll believe it when I see it.
Despite some dumb decisions I still like Desantis. His campaign strategy for president is truly baffling.
It’s called the If Donald has a Heart Attack and Croaks I’m the Guy strategy. Also known as the After Donald gets Outfortified Again I’m the 2028 Candidate strategy.
The Trump Train is too powerful for now, so he’s just getting out of the way and keeping his name in the mix.
I would vote for him.
The media seem to have pre-decided that he “lacks charisma” or some shit. They’re probably just afraid of him.
He was an idiot for running against Trump right now. I don’t care what you think of Trump, but he is out for blood, the base is out for blood, and nothing on that level is going to happen in the R’s until that is over. Dude should have taken a cushy conservative make work job, and waited until ’28. He is young, he has the time.
Yes, there is something to be said for keeping his name in lights, keeping himself in peoples eyes, but there are better ways of doing it than shitting on the peoples champion.
USC Professor Banned From Campus for Speaking Out Against Hamas
Meanwhile the students chant “From the river to the sea…”, either aware or unaware of what it means.
I noticed the ridiculous spin that Left Inc. was promoting last week (“it’s just a wish for peace and harmony!”) fell so flat that nobody’s pushing it this week.
peace and harmony
To be had after the eradication of the Jews I suppose.
Several hundred students stormed the hallways of a New York City high school after a teacher was found to have attended a pro-Israel protest, causing the teacher to have to lock herself in an office to avoid the uproarious crowd.
The incident at Hillcrest High School in Queens occurred on Monday after pro-Palestinian students learned the teacher had a photo on social media where she held a sign, saying “I stand with Israel.”
But the threats and violence are coming from the right.
Proof of increased Islamophobia! Did you not see her hateful sign in her post?
This is disgusting to me.
The school should be able to suspend each and every one of those students.
It’s all those darn MAGA kids, I am sure that they all forgot to wear their red caps that day.
Commie pope strikes again.
Pope Francis on Israel’s assault on Gaza: “This is not war, it is terrorism”.
Was raised Catholic, but I hate that fuck.
Are you ready to start nailing theses to a door?
And marry a nun?
And encourage the Protestant portions of Germany to kick out the Jews?
The old rhetorical saw “Is the pope catholic?’ can no longer be relied on.
I struggle with him as well. He is doing some serious damage to the Church. Hopefully his successor can repair it.
Of course his successor will be elected by the same cardinals who elected Francis.
Got a loycense fuh dat opinion, mate?
They arrested Tommy Robinson. In the UK, you’re allowed to march and chant for the genocide of Jews but if a reporter who has the “wrong” views tries covering it, he will be arrested.
The UK has fallen so far.
That’s a lot of cops to address a speech/thought crime.

The Case That Could Destroy the Government
Not mentioned here, but elsewhere on this case in neat avoidance of trial by jury in these administrative kangaroo courts.

Subverting the roles of two branches of government, all in one shitty law.

I’ll just insert this here.
Commenters have expressed sympathy for a woman who was caught using a vibrator on a Georgia beach and then arrested by cops.
Christina Revels-Glick, who was 34 at the time, was approached by cops after families reported her salacious behavior on Tybee Island beach on July 1, 2021.
Bodycam footage from the officers who arrested her was released this week, showing her breaking down as she was handcuffed and marched away from the sand.
This story rubs me the wrong way.
When police ask to search her bag, she admits to using a vibrator to relax because she was ‘stressed,’ adding that it only took her 20 seconds to finish.
Impressive.
I guess the sand and beach chafed her after all.
Throw the book at her. Gross.
So, turn the machine of justice on her?

Clearly, not the fashion police.
“According to the reports, Christina Revels committed suicide on 26th November 2023. Her sad death highlights how being publicly criticized can really hurt a person’s mental health. She was 36 years old when she died.”

Sad.
Wait..so why was Daily Mail running a story from 2021 anyway? And the day it runs she commits suicide or did they run the article because she committed suicide?
I can’t find any mention of her dying in that DM article.
She should have just declared herself trans

Following his victory in a presidential run-off vote on Sunday, Milei said he aimed to hand over shares in Argentina’s state-owned airline Aerolíneas Argentinas to its workers and reduce the state funding on which it relies.
“If he wants to take Aerolíneas, he will have to kill us,” said Pablo Biró, leader of Argentina’s airline pilots’ union, on Wednesday. “And when I say kill, I mean literally: he will have to take dead bodies and I’ll sign up first.”
The hard-left Unidad Piquetera social movement has announced plans to lead a march through downtown Buenos Aires on Thursday to oppose Milei’s austerity plans, while its leaders will meet to co-ordinate a “battle plan” for the coming months.

On Tuesday, Edgardo Llano, head of an aviation workers’ union, said Milei’s plan would mean “signing the death certificate” of Aerolíneas Argentinas, which was nationalised in 2008, “because this company doesn’t work without the contributions of the state”.

Then it doesn’t deserve to exist.
In the meantime it may have prevented other airlines or transport means from springing up.

World-class gibberish.
From Sensei’s link:
This is wild stuff. Not long ago, a lawyer would have been laughed out of court for making such nondelegation claims. Today, they’d have a good chance of destroying the federal government’s administrative capacity—taking down its ability to protect Americans’ health and safety while unleashing fraud in the financial markets.
As we all know, the government was established for the specific purpose of protecting Americans’ health and safety from cradle to grave.
goddamnit I have a comment in moderation because I did not realize stupid FT put a bunch of links in my copy paste, which I usually delete.
Responding to catastrophes and guarding against market manipulation is exactly the kind of work that Congress should empower the executive branch to do. Requiring Congress to legislate in response to every new fraud some crook might dream up would not be a good use of its time.
Those Congressmen need to be out raising money for their next campaign, not sitting around the Capitol legislating.

Deer are just giant rats. They are a nuisance.
…that destroy cars and occasionally hurt and kill people riding in them.
I hit a deer on the freeway (after slowing down to about 30 mph). It really fucked up the sheet metal on my car
A few years later in the same car, I picked up the 7-10 split on a pair of does at 60+ mph on a different freeway. The car did not survive that one.
you should have just gone around it.
When a dozen deer decide to run across the freeway at the same time, there is no going around “it”.

Malicious legislation is malicious.
Under consideration Tuesday, among many others, are bills which would institute a live fire requirement for getting and keeping a firearms license, require universal background checks for private gun sales, raise the age for possession of a firearm to 21, and outright ban semi-automatic firearms.
You can’t do that. But good luck trying.

The Ministry of Plenty is pleased to announce an increase in the chocolate ration
President Joe Biden on Monday will convene the first meeting of his supply chain resilience council, using the event to announce 30 actions to improve access to medicine and needed economic data and other programs tied to the production and shipment of goods.
“We’re determined to keep working to bring down prices for American consumers and ensure the resilience of our supply chains for the future,” said Lael Brainard, director of the White House National Economic Council and a co-chair of the new supply chain council.
The announcement comes after supply chain problems fueled higher inflation as the United States recovered from the coronavirus pandemic in 2021. While consumer prices are down from last year’s peaks, polling shows that inflation remains a political challenge for Biden going into the 2024 presidential election.
Among the 30 new actions, Biden, a Democrat, will use the Defense Production Act to have the Health and Human Services Department invest in the domestic manufacturing of needed medicines that are deemed crucial for national security. The Cabinet agency has identified $35 million to invest in the production of materials for injectable medicines.
I trust Joe and his assembled experts to do the right thing.
These polling numbers suck! The proles don’t know how good they have it and are complaining about how much everything costs. We need to put together a do-nothing panel to investigate.
That sums it up nicely.
Again…reminds me of the European aristocracy right before they largely collapsed. Wildly out of touch, far too much power, zero accountability and a ‘dont give a fuck’ attitude as a cherry on top.
Are the Bidens still using the White House as a crack house?
Wyatt Erp didn’t need no sissy semi-autos.
Neither did John Wilkes Booth.
The federal government will also improve its ability to monitor supply chains through the sharing of data among agencies. The Commerce Department has developed new tools to assess risks to the supply chain and has partnered with the Energy Department on the supply of renewable energy resources. Shipping companies are beginning to use new data resources from the Transportation Department on freight logistics.
What could possibly go wrong?
Any of yall have much experience with UPS for servers? I have one here at the plant that i’m probably about to replace. It’s about 25 years old and has been on the decline health wise for a while now. Caused quite a bit of trouble over the weekend? I need 30 KVA of 120/208 three phase on the output. This old one is a vertiv brand. I’m looking at ABB and Mitsubishi, but they are pretty expensive. What’s a good brand on those?
Mitsubishi or Eaton 9355 is what we use I think mostly. Not sure on costs though.
We just need more centralized government interference
The Biden administration has also announced strides in the expansion of the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) digital information sharing system, Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) program.
FLOW began in March 2022 with 18 participants at a time when the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach were crippled with congestion. The container backup created a massive imbalance of supply chain issues, which exacerbated supply and demand and pushed product prices higher. These costs accelerated inflation in early 2021 and the issue intensified into 2022. The program’s goal is to reduce inflation by connecting all facets of the supply chain so logistics managers will be able to identify potential bottlenecks and track their goods from the dock to the doorstep. In order to have access to the data companies, must participate in the data sharing partnership.
Time is money, so reducing delivery times and avoiding detention costs will help kick down the price of goods. The Federal Reserve has said several times that the inflationary costs of congestion is something over which it has no control.
What about fuel costs? What effect might they have on… well, everything?

Tractor Gets Pit Maneuvered By Police During a Pursuit in Canada
I’m not sure I’d call this a PIT maneuver, but props to the cop for not worrying about being crushed by a heavier vehicle.
I have serious issues with PIT and its applications at certain speeds and weight of vehicles. And yea, lucky that back wheel didn’t just crush the cruiser.

“Our job is to cut points of friction, streamline lawful trade, address security vulnerabilities head on, and help ensure American consumers and business can access the products they need,” said Under Secretary for Policy Robert Silvers. “The Supply Chain Resilience Center will bring government and industry around the table so we can become more prepared and coordinated for addressing these challenges.
