Wtf is wrong with those people? Liz Shaw was a fucking research scientist. Jo Grant was a fully qualified field agent who worked her ass off to get to that position and was dismissed as the tea dolly in her first appearance. And 70’s hot.

Sarah Jane is “my” companion because that’s the one I grew up with.
LOL
They made sure Peri’s rack was front and center to try to distract you.
Yeah, my older brother was always pointing them out to me.
I don’t think Barbara really took much guff either. She did try to change the Aztec culture against the Doctor’s advice and all.
Apparently no one cares.
Is there anyway we can make Milei President, here, for a few days?. Start him with cabinet positions and bureaucrats
Maybe Trump can appoint him to something.
He will be on the ballot, indirectly. I’m sure we’ll here lots of politicians running against “dangerous and irresponsible reduction of the federal workforce.”
It would involve a time machine and smuggling his parents into the US.
*fires up DeLorean*
We’re going to Libertopia. We don’t need :flips down sunglasses: roads.
I need to go to the lumber yard, but I doan wanna. *pout*
Euphemism?
Clearly she needs some wood.
That’s like going to the candy store.
Was just thinkin’ the same….maybe she’s pulling a Br’er rabbit on us?
Going out requires a bra. Candy, lumber, whatever. Requires bra.
*Checks under shirt*
No it doesnt.
Well, I haven’t yet seen you referred to as “Moobs,” so you might not, no.
Do they allow you to cull the lumber? If I’m using it for random projects I don’t mind some crooked stuff, always need some short stuff for braces, etc
I had to haul in a wheelbarrow of fire wood, in the rain. Good ’til Sunday now. Changing over to snow but still warm.

Yes. I regularly pick through it. In this case, I just need one 2×12.
Milei can unilaterally reorganize the bureaucracy that way? Must be nice. I assume if a president tried the same in the in the US there’d be lots of intentionally-crafted roadblocks to sweeping reform.
The judge in Hawaii says no.
What happens next Friday, the 22nd? 😟
We get a Saturday Lynx
Or maybe we’ll get bacon instead of links! 😃🥓😋
Mmmm…bacon
Ta da!
Victoria Jackson!
lol
Am I the only one who is absolutely delighted to see bacon-magic back here?!
No. You are not.
Bacon and links (sausage) together.
Genius of the “and.”
You’ll get nothing and like it!
I was certainly wondering as well. I figured maybe Links: Special Edition Because We’re Drunk as Skunks or something at GlibCentral.
Potential flop?
General Motors’ plans to diversify its business through trendy industries such as ridesharing and other “mobility” ventures or startups have largely fallen flat since the automaker started investing in such growth areas in 2016.
Cruise, its majority-owned autonomous vehicle subsidiary, is increasingly looking like it might be next.
The unit has quickly gone from one of GM’s greatest business opportunities to a growing liability. Cruise, of which GM owns more than 80%, has confronted a wave of problems and investigations sparked by an Oct. 2 accident in which a pedestrian in San Francisco was dragged 20 feet by a Cruise self-driving vehicle after the person was struck by another vehicle.
Since the incident, Cruise’s robotaxi fleet has been grounded, pending the results of independent safety probes. Its leadership has been gutted, including its cofounders resigning and nine other leaders being ousted. GM is massively cutting spending and growth plans for the business, including pausing production of a new robotaxi. Local and federal governments have launched their own investigations. And the venture is laying off 24% of its workforce.
Just a few billion more and it will be ready for the big time.
A bail out, did you say? Or a little more seed money? Whatever.
*reads linked article, sees GM tie ins to both Lordstown Motors and Nikola in the article* Which one of them had serious fraud going on? *Googles both companies* Of course, both of them were major frauds that GM was pouring money into. Jebus GM, is it asking too much to just focus on building a good car?

I wonder about the content.
I have no doubt Obama, for example, could blather on for hours and hours but most of it would be content-free.

Well, this is an interesting way to close out the work year. I’ve got the week between Christmas and New Year’s off, and I just called in to find out I have to report for jury duty on Monday.
Can you say “sequestered”?
well, shit. You should Zoom tonight and tell us all about it 🙂
You actually have to show up? I predict that at worst, you have to sit around for a bit while the two sides hammer out a plea deal. “Do you really want to put your fate in the hands of a jury who had to drag their asses down here the week before Christmas?”
Minimum of five days of availability for jury duty up here in Cuyahoga.
I suppose this means I need to wear pants.
Does it? They might dismiss you if you don’t.
I bet your fellow jurors disagree. When in Rome…
One of us has actually conducted a two week jury trial in that jurisdiction…
Argentina will be plunged into a deep recession if government spending is cut.
And that will be awful.
Speaking of efficient use of resources
A new Biden administration directive instructs federal employees to prioritize making sustainable choices while on official travel.
The directive tells civil servants to rent electric vehicles on official travel when the cost of that vehicle is less than or equal to the most affordable comparable option.
It also directs them to use rail, rather than planes or cars, for trips of less than 250 miles if rail is an available and affordable option. Employees will also be expected to use public transportation when traveling locally.
Agencies will also have to tell the White House about how they plan to follow the directive.
“We’re adding another element to consider when federal employees travel on government business,” said Robin Carnahan, administrator of the General Services Administration, during a Thursday press conference.
He should ban travel. Haven’t they ever heard of telephones?
Even better, he should have forced them all to use electric cars. They’d never get anywhere.
“… rent electric vehicles on official travel when the cost of that vehicle is less than or equal to the most affordable comparable option.”
That will never happen. Electric cars will be the most expensive option.
All that red tape and stupid requirements will make the feds more efficient. We’ll see how long that’ll last.
And will anyone ever get fired? Of course not. And it’s nothing new. In doing some research, I came across a Civil War case where the officer, a major, in charge of the Philly medical supply depot was being investigated over suspicious charges of $17,000 in his June 1863 expense report. By war’s end, he had been promoted to Brigadier General.
Next they’ll have to bring their own TP to work.
I suppose this means I need to wear pants.
Or a dress which comes no more than three inches above your knees.
Random thought:
Wokism is ethnic cleansing aimed at white people.
White men in particular, who are responsible for every wrong in the world.
Anyone suddenly getting a bunch of spam calls? Instead of 1 or 2 a week, I’m now getting 4-5 every day.
Yep. Same here. Not sure why. It started about a week ago.
Went way down since November. They must be targeting you guys now.
I got hit hard for a few days, but the seem to have stopped. The ones coming in from an 800 (I think 888) number were flagged by Malware Bytes as ‘associated with known scammers’ so I guess that’s been helpful.
Not more (not counting medicare crap calls) but got the “Grandpa, I drove drunk and hit some lady’s car and need $2,000 to make it go away” call. I played along until I finally said something like, “I’ll have your Uncle Joe call the police chief. He’s a special agent with the FBI and he’ll know what to do.” Click.
I let any number I don’t recognize go to voicemail*. Maybe 1 in 10 leaves a message and they are wrong numbers.
*The other day I got a call from my old 646 area code (which is still my current phone’s area code) which I without hesitation ignored because I live in 607 now and the appearance of a 646 felt sketchy. Then I realized I was expecting a call from the Instacart lady and she rang right back and I answered it. I guess you really can’t place a caller with area codes anymore.
Not if someone moves and keeps their number for their cell. Mrs. Dean has a Dallas area code.
Yup. I’m keeping my current number till I die. Because I rather like it.
This is in my neck of the woods https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp64m7QxUh8
All that red tape and stupid requirements will make the feds more efficient. We’ll see how long that’ll last.
We’ll need a new cabinet level agency and a million unionized government clerks to keep track of all that efficiency.
I’ll let Guiliani insult me for $100,000.

“Rudy Giuliani shouldn’t be defined by what’s happened in recent times,” (attorney) Sibley said during his closing argument…..The former mayor, who had said he would testify during the trial, ultimately opted not to take the witness stand.
it’s idiotic to argue by any stretch that plaintiffs have enough good will that it could be reduced by $150M
I would have settled for one American dollar, but he’s got to compose and recite a poem that rhymes Donny’s cum and it’s so yum
Well, I am packing up for a Christmas cruise in the gulf of Mexico. I’ll be on the high seas shortly. If STEVE SMITH comes looking for me because I didn’t hit my 100 comment goal Thursday, tell him I went to Alaska.
Nice.
One of the top 5 gulfs easily.
It’s no Gulf of Bothnia.
True that.
The gulf of politics is far too dark to sail right now.
F-G of Bothnia to Sweden.
‘Javier Milei’s minister of economy just announced an “emergency package” of measures to completely balance the budget in 2024 equivalent to over 5% of GDP.
This would be equivalent to a $1.4 trillion austerity package in a single year in the U.S. economy.’
*fap,fap,fap…blort*
Anyway, reading on…
‘Milei’s massive cuts to the national bureaucracy are the first in recent history and arrive at a time when calls for similar moves are gaining traction in the US.
Cuts aimed at permanent government employees have made their way onto the Republican debate stage: candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has proposed cutting the number of federal employees by 75% by using a random system of firing by Social Security number.’
Oh, Vivek. You charmingly unaware cuck. You’ll make some money, make more people more money, and once you’ve outlived your usefulness, you’ll be put on a poorly lit, dusty shelf…the lack of self awareness is almost funny.

Someone was having a bad day.
I haven’t been able to keep up with my normal lurking the past few days, so there may be some drugs falling out my ass here, but has the arrest of journalist Steve Baker been covered? He was an independent journalist when J6 happened, now working for Blaze Media. He’s been digging into J6 and all the unusual circumstances everyone here is aware of. Just a few weeks ago, shortly after all of the videos were released, he published an in-depth article about Harry Dunn, Nanner Pelosi’s security chief, who testified that he was assaulted verbally and physically on J6. After all of the video was analyzed, they found zero evidence that anything Dunn testified to actually happened. They were able to track Dunn throughout most of the riot, and NOTHING he testified to actually happened.
So, naturally, what happens next? Steve Baker’s lawyer has been notified that he will be arrested and charged with federal crimes revolving around J6 and he must turn himself in next Tuesday.
If you vote for Trump we’ll have a dictator for President, they say.
