The Hat and The Hair: Rerun: Episode 6

by | Jan 17, 2024 | Hat and Hair | 65 comments

Remember the whole Trump steaks thing? Why isn’t he selling Trump steaks to pay for his re-election? This is why The Hat should be in charge of all campaign decisions.  From Wikipedia if you don’t remember the gag.

In August 2015, TIME magazine included Trump Steaks on a list of Trump business failures.[16] In December 2015, during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, a Super PAC supporting John Kasich produced an ad mocking Trump Steaks.[42] On February 10, 2016, the New York Daily News[43] included Trump Steaks on a list of Trump business failures. Steaks from West Palm Beach’s Bush Brothers[44] Provision Co.[45] were on display at Trump’s Florida news conference celebrating his latest primary victories on March 8, 2016 during which Trump claimed them to be “Trump Steaks”.[4] Trump-branded wine and water were also displayed, as an example of Trump’s success in business.[46] Observers there noted the Trump-named steaks were produced by a butcher in West Palm Beach.[3] In March 2016, Vox noted that on QVC’s website “reviews of Trump steaks were, um, mixed”,[3] with more than half of the reviews negative (1 star to 2 stars).[47] In an interview with Anderson Cooper the following day, Trump said that he does not process the steaks but instead purchases them from local suppliers.[46] As of April 2016 the only place the steaks can still be purchased is at Trump’s various properties.[18]

Well, if Sean has never eaten one…

    • Sean

      I have not.

  2. KK, Plump & Unfiltered

Bravo again!!! (sometimes I accidentally stop listening to the dialogue to focus on finding all the details on Trump)

Fantastic. Clearly I am blind, because I just realized that is a pinup of Melania behind Hair. It’s probably been there all along.

  4. Ghostpatzer

Heh. Had some very disappointing steaks tonight. “Nature’s Promise 100% Grass-fed Beef strip loin steak”. Meh. I’m sure Trump steaks would have been much better. The best.

My home computer is not set up for audio and video, so I cannot use any conferencing application. And since I hate any type of conference call, I have no motivation to change my computer setup.

I want to get on. I do. It’s warming up outside so I hope to be on Friday. I need some outdoor Glib time. Tonight I am going to hide.

Better than the last guy anyway

    Heh.

  7. R.J.

    I’d try a Trump steak.
I was perusing his collectables on eBay. I haven’t seen any steak ads.

  8. Fourscore

Thanks CPRM, if that is your real name. As always, very enjoyable.

When you were born, the first thing your mother said was it’s so small. She was talking about your penis.

When you were born, the obese hellbeast that pushed you out saw the placenta that followed.

“I had no idea it was twins”, she said. Then left you in an orphanage and went back to sucking trucker cock behind the Waffle House dumpster.
        Which where you were conceived.

        Gentlemen! Gentlemen!
Save it for Thursday night. At least I can read it in real time then.

Do Trump steaks have to be burned to a crisp and covered in ketchup?

    • slumbrew

Preaching to the choir here, I suspect, but yes, that’s a good video. Also an exception to the “don’t read the comments” rule.

Sorry – been way behind on catching up on the last few days of posts this week. Finally read them this week. Richard – great story. Down where I am in VA, a lot of these small towns or neighborhoods allow golf carts on streets. There are a few main roads they’re allowed on, but also some parallel trails – and a lot of flexibility between golf carts, jacked modded ones, ATVs like yours, etc – kinda surprised a small town up there wouldn’t have something similar. There are tons of pickups down here too.

  12. LCDR_Fish

I think someone mentioned Milei earlier today, but his full remarks at the WEF Davos forum are worth the listen! Lots of great libertarian shoutouts – particularly with him paying his way there on Lufthansa. Having difficulty coming up with a full text transcript at the moment though 🙁

    • R.J.

Twas I! I submitted it as a lead also.

One more article I found pretty interesting. https://www.navytimes.com/naval/2024/01/16/us-navys-four-unmanned-ships-return-from-pacific-deployment/

Pretty promising start if they worked as well as described…hope to find more detailed reporting soon. Certainly sounds like a more auspicious deployment than the first LCS operations.

    https://news.usni.org/2024/01/16/navy-wraps-first-unmanned-surface-deployment-to-westpac (a bit more info)

Looks like the Seahawk is the same design as the one I took a picture of in San Diego last June. Of course…given the timeline of their deployment, that may have been Sea Hawk…

    • dbleagle

It is interesting to me that the Ranger is home berthed in Port Hueneme. These vessels can make sense as long as the USN doesn’t try to have them do everything a la the Army with the Bradley.

      • LCDR_Fish

Port Hueneme is the base for a lot of tech coordination/testing material/etc stuff even though nothing is permanently stationed there. I’ll be inspecting some support/training vessels there next month. (did a seabee associated training course there 6 years ago).

I never saw the attraction of GS cookies, seems like you could get pretty much the exact same thing except Keebler or whatever for around half the price. Oh, and the mint GS cookies that everyone seems to go nuts for taste like cough medicine.

      • UnCivilServant

You can, the cookies are made by those industrial bakeries, including keebler, and they sell the same thing under their own label except for the one that is in the shape of the stupid logo (not a good cookie anyway) for trademark reasons.

      • Not Adahn

Huh. I would have thought unflavored shortbread would be right up your alley.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, U, Stinky, Sean, and Suthen!

      • UnCivilServant

I either A: don’t have dressing for my breakfast salad, or B: left it in my car.

I’m going to have to walk back to the parking lot to check, aren’t I?

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

It’s cold enough, should keep until the end of the day.

      • UnCivilServant

That doesn’t help me with my breakfast.

Welp, I’m off on a hike.

      • Gender Traitor

But then he’d have to eat his salad without dressing! That’s no way to start the day! 🙁

      • UnCivilServant

A pileup of forgetfulness has led to a workable outcome. I forgot to grab a bottle this morning, but I also forgot to bring in yesterday’s bottle – which thankfully hasn’t frozen.

    • Fourscore

Morning, Everyone! It’s wake up/get up time.

I’m burning wood, should have realized I could convert that to electricity and run my electric clock. I let the wood stove fire go out every evening, I don’t want to run a fire unattended. It’s a little cool in the morning (about 65 plus or minus a couple degrees) so when I’m up for the day I crank it up again, takes a little while to warm up but by the time Mrs F is getting up it’ll be mid 70s. We like it a little warmer than some folks so mid 70s-bumping 80 later in the day. If the sun is shining upstairs will be warmer than downstairs by a few degrees.

      • Gender Traitor

        Good morning, 4(20)!

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

-Individuals who shopped at stores like Cabela’s or Dick’s Sporting Goods, or purchased religious texts like a bible, may also have had their transactions flagged.

I just knew that Trumpybear would be the end of me…but seriously folks, not good.

I’m sure we’re all on the enemies list anyway.

    Mornin’, reprobates!

I got an unexpected reward from $employer yesterday, came with an attaboy and a $100 gift card. Dinner for two, barely. Yay me!

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, ‘patzie SS! Congrats on the scratch behind the ears from the boss!

I finally was able to give final approval yesterday to what’s arguably the most important payroll of the year – the one with (almost) everyone’s new pay rates for the year AND the one with quarterly/semiannual incentives for most employees.

I’m thinking seriously about NOT answering my phone all day Friday.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Does the place the gift card is from have a bar? You and someone else can get pretty gassed for a hundred bucks.

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

LOL. I belong to a club whose members stopped drinking after a series of adverse life events, and Mrs. Patzer is what we used to call a “lightweight”. But I plan to spend the $$ as quickly as possible before it loses what little value it now has.

Well, a C note is 20 bucks, same as downtown. It’s the surprise that makes it more welcome though. Enjoy an evening out with the missus but the drinks will be out of pocket, in all likelihood.

    Mornin’ all.
Plans for the day are to stay Exactly Where I’m At, although not for the reasons sung of.

    • Gender Traitor

Too cold, too much snow to go anywhere, or both?

      • Gender Traitor

        And good morning, Beau!

      • Fourscore

-12 this morning but the weekend and days following look cheerful. The January thaw and hopefully beyond. The winter has been full of pleasant surprises so far.

      • Beau Knott

It’s actually 19th, warmest morning of the week. So, simple laziness and misanthropy.
Tomorrow is supposed to be -7. I may not even get up… ;-\

      • R.J.

Woo hoo! It got above freezing. I am pleased.

      • Not Adahn

Keep your goddamn melty hands off my snow!
