  • An airline to avoid? At least certain seats.

I have noticed the butt-cut is an increasingly popular politician haircut.

    • R C Dean

The situation in Gaza has been shit for years, with the eager assistance of the UN “humanitarian” agencies pimping for Hamas and its abuse of Gazans.

      DIAF, you mendacious fuck.

      • Heroic Mulatto

Years? Decades! UNRWA is what, almost 80 years old?

      • slumbrew

Nice to see you around, however briefly, HM.

      • Heroic Mulatto

        *thumbs up*

      Nope

    • R.J.

      DENIED!
I have firsted vigorously and commented upon an actual link (UN politician’s hair). Because I don’t want to be working right now.

I was fisting vigourously yester— oh never mind

    • trshmnstr the terrible

Yusef! I haven’t seen you in a while! How’s it going, buddy?

Everyone gets along with Cracky. Cracky is adorable.

    • Timeloose

Wow what a showman. So much fun and entertainment. I do love the parodies of James Brown, where every statement from him is followed by a horn blast.

        Heh.

        HEYAEAH!

        Big PayBACK! Heh.

  5. Aloysious

    Sugar brother?

Why is it whenever Hunty Biden is in the news, there’s some weird new (to me) term or situation to try and make sense of?

    Thanx for the linx.

    • R.J.

Sugar Brother sounds like Sugar Free’s twin who writes children’s stories with happy endings.

      • Nephilium

        You mean like Lovecraft?

    • R C Dean

I vigorous forensic accounting of his books would undoubtedly uncover a multitude of felonies. No way that $4MM in (unrecoverable) “loans” came out of his personal pocket.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Those weird new terms and situations are just proof of Hunter’s intelligence.

    • Lackadaisical

I was left wondering if it’s anything like an Eskimo brother.

      • Nephilium

Well, did you check the EBDB?

  6. Rebel Scum

    Meh.

I’ve been humbled in recent weeks by the many people who have urged me to run for Senate in Michigan and to do so by joining the Republican primary.

They see what I see: contenders for the seat who are uninspired, unserious, and unprepared to tackle the chief impediment to liberty and economic prosperity—an overgrown and abusive government that strives to centralize power and snuff out individualism. The people of Michigan and our country deserve better.

Today I’m launching the Justin Amash for Senate Exploratory Committee as I consider entering the race.

    • trshmnstr the terrible

I forget what he did to deserve the ire of libertarians. Was it TDS or jab happiness?

      • Sensei

        TDS from memory.

      • R.J.

        Found it!

On October 31, 2019, Amash was the only non-Democrat in the House to vote for an impeachment inquiry against Trump in connection with the Trump-Ukraine scandal.[208][209][210] On December 18, 2019, he voted in favor of both articles of impeachment proceedings against Trump, the only non-Democrat to vote in favor of either article.[211][212] When Mitt Romney was the only Republican senator who voted to convict Trump in his Senate trial, Amash tweeted, “Thank you, @SenatorRomney, for upholding your oath to support and defend the Constitution. You will never regret putting your faith in God and doing right according to the law and your conscience.”[213]

      • kinnath

Even still, he’d be better than a generic Dem in the Senate.

      • R.J.

Yes. I am not that angry with him. His overall positions are great. That is all I found in Wikipedia that was bad.

      • kinnath

Rand Paul. Thomas Massie. Justin Amash.

Amash was always the weakest of the three.

But, put him in the Senate with Paul, and I think good things would happen . . . . most of the time.

      • The Last American Hero

Sort of the Libertarian version of Warren/Sanders. Except Amash won’t get within 1000 miles of a Nomination.

      • juris imprudent

Uh, TDS is ugly, but why would libertarians be in particular incensed by that, since that bulwark of liberatarianism, reason, is resoundingly deranged about Trump?

      • trshmnstr the terrible

Voting to impeach a president for blatantly and obviously false accusations speaks to either an inexcusable ignorance or a major deficit in character.

      • Lackadaisical

Yeah. I just don’t get the TDS, not to the level of really actually believing Russian collusion hoax stuff.

He is better than 98-99% of the Senate so I’d definitely vote for him over a neo con or commie.

      • slumbrew

It’s a huge stain on Amash – how could he go along with such obvious bullshit?

      • Don escaped Texas

        major deficit in character

I’ll stipulate to this, but, ya know……….

      • juris imprudent

Why would libertarians be so upset by the impeachment. Trump had no foothold in the libertarian world. I never heard him wax poetic about the NAP, or talk favorably about the holy trinity (dope, messicans and buttsex). He had no plan at all to reduce govt – the only thing he really offered was to cut our foreign entanglements… and we all know how well that worked out.

      • juris imprudent

Credit duly noted for not creating any new foreign entanglements, Low bar, but most presidents can’t get over it.

      • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

I will absolutely stipulate that you are completely correct on every count there, but that misses the point, and not just about Amash. The point of libertarianism is to move the needle towards freedom. We are never going to win outright, not at the presidential level, at least not at this point in time. But, to get to that point in time, we need to start voting* for the most liberty serving candidate. So, as long as they aren’t the ones setting us back in aggregate, then that is the one to throw our weight behind. We need to swing that needle, and the only way to do it is to show that freedom is meaningful and will win them votes.

*yes, vote. being black pilled only means they won.

      • Suthenboy

        Because it wasn’t about Trump?

      • juris imprudent

The impeachment was all about Trump, not anything Trump actually did.

      • grrizzly

Amash is a bitch of the Deep State. He accepted the Russian interference narrative.

      • Ted S.

Because we have principles about the rule of law?

      • trshmnstr the terrible

Why would libertarians be so upset by the impeachment. Trump had no foothold in the libertarian world.

As suthen mentioned, it wasn’t about Trump, at least for me.

We’re watching the legitimacy of institutions big and small crumble under the weight of unequal application, agenda driven execution, and rank corruption. The use of impeachment to not only go after the president with a sham case but also to actively run interference for the opposing candidate shredded yet another institution that once stood (perhaps only nominally) for restraint on the excesses of the ruling class.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

I’ll point out one last thing. This lawfare bullshit they’re doing to Trump is even worse. You and I can’t be impeached, but we can sure as hell be dragged in front of a jury on sham charges with scant evidence and have our lives ruined because some apparachik doesn’t much like the wrongthink we post on this site.

Morris gave or loaned at least $4.9 million to the now 53-year-old Hunter, including doling out $875,000 for his novice art and allegedly purchasing his 10% stake in Chinese state-owned investment fund BHR Partners during Joe Biden’s first year in the White House.

So what is he getting for his money?

    • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

I think Hunter is rippin’ him.

    • R C Dean

He’s taking a cut for laundering the money for whoever is bribing the Bidens this time.

      • kinnath

Yeah. I guess you start by asking where the 4.9 megabucks came from.

      • Bobarian LMD

This, there will probably be zero interest in tracking where he got $4.9 to “loan” to Cracky and the Big Guy.

Or any curiosity on what he was getting for his money.

    • The Other Kevin

They undying devotion and friendship of Hunter Biden, who I hear is just an amazing human being.

    • Suthenboy

¿Podemos llevar nuestras armas a Argentina?

      • trshmnstr the terrible

Don spoke earlier of political anxiety

I meant to make a comment on that, but got busy with work.

Folks, if you find yourself having mental health issues because of the news cycle and the political stuff, please please please shut it off and find some way to enjoy your life outside of the day to day soap opera that is current events. You don’t NEED TV. You don’t NEED social media. In fact, you may find that your life is better without it.

We’re not in the “hard times” part yet. We’re still in the “soft men” part. Soft men will ride a bad habit into the ground because they’re too comfortable to ask themselves whether they need to change their behavior. They’re comfortable until their head smacks into the dirt at Mach 2. Don’t bad habit yourself into a heart attack or alcoholism over something that goes away when you hit the power button. There’s nothing you can do about it anyway, at least nothing beyond what you should be doing regardless.

I was a much less happy person a few years ago. I was tied up in all of it, and it dragged me down. I had political anxiety, political depression, the works. I detoxed and I am a better and happier person for it. I still keep a finger on the pulse, here and elsewhere, but most of it flies over my head, outside of my notice. I am blissfully ignorant, emphasis on the blissful part. The world isn’t going to improve

      • trshmnstr the terrible

        Oops, premature post.

The world isn’t going to improve because you were up to speed on the latest headlines curated by Reuters and the AP, and passed through the ideological cucks who make their money reacting to the regime’s talking points.*

    • Tonio

That is beautiful. I might be touching myself inappropriately while reading that.

But I can imagine the outrage reaction of all the collectivists, free-stuffers, and wealth confiscators and redistributionists.

    • DrOtto

That was better than Ricky Gervais at the Oscars.

  10. Rebel Scum

Listen, fat. That’s Bidenomics in action.

“Why is everything so DAMN expensive?”

Four years ago my rent was $1,200 a month at a luxury apartment complex”

“It is NOW $2,100, not even including utilities”

“3 years ago my electric bill was averaging $45 now it’s averaging $125…”

“I went to the grocery store yesterday and got 3 bags of chips, some ground turkey and some vegetables and it was $67 DOLLARS?!”

    • Tres Cool

So help me when I heard “thank you very much” I immediately thought of Latka from Taxi.

  11. Rebel Scum

    But Trump is a fascism.

President Trump promises to block the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in America:

“Such a currency would give the federal government absolute control of your money. You wouldn’t even know it was gone. This is a dangerous threat to freedom and I will stop it.”

    • R.J.

Nice. He originally was for it, prior to his loss to Biden. It was something that was worrying me.

      • juris imprudent

Don’t think this means he is really against it. He’s just against it for now.

      • Lackadaisical

        ^this

Trump is a great bullshitter. See how admins actions on guns.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Fair point. It also makes me wonder why the Dems didn’t pursue a strategy of buttering him up. I bet they could have got a lot of the stuff they wanted from him. “Mr. Exalted President, you are so wise. Would you mind cancelling debt on student loans?”

      • juris imprudent

For a guy with multiple bankruptcies in his past — it wouldn’t have surprised me at all.

      • Swiss Servator

They could have had it all…he would have done anything they wanted through flattery.

      • rhywun

Some good-hearted folks have set up a food/bric-a-brac stall for migrants (er, the new-new branding is “newcomers”) in one of those food halls that all the youngsters like to frequent.

    https://denverite.com/2024/01/18/stanley-marketplace-migrant-market-finding-their-way/

I’m sure all of the existing vendors who have to pay rent/taxes/fees and jump through a billion licensing/regulatory hoops enjoy the healthy competition. Surely the situation will make the good-hearted folks reconsider support for such burdens on small business… libertarian moment! (Lights Winston signal) Meanwhile…

“Clevis Mujica, a Venezuelan migrant who came to Denver a month and a half ago, was at the rally “supporting the cause,” he said. But Mujica also wanted people to know that he and other migrants were unhappy with the situation at the McNichols Building, where they were offered only two meals a day, breakfast and dinner.”

  16. The Late P Brooks

    You-know-who looms large

Global business leaders may be in the snowy hills of Switzerland, but their conversations keep returning to Washington, D.C.

The topic of Donald Trump has dominated dinners and parties at Davos, with many in attendance at the World Economic Forum mulling the former president’s potential return to the White House after his resounding Iowa caucus victory.

Several business executives have noted a theme in their private discussions during the summit: U.S. industry leaders seem overwhelmingly nonplussed with a second Trump term, while foreign chief executives are terrified — particularly of restrictions on immigration and potential global conflicts.

    ——-

Another U.S. bank CEO privately expressed annoyance with media exaggeration of the threat of a Trump presidency, stressing he’s “all bark and no bite.” The bank chief also dismissed Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election as bloviation.

“He’s going to win the presidency,” the CEO predicted. “Many of his policies were right.”

Those poor simpering Eurocrats. Terrified about global conflicts = afraid he’ll walk away while there is still money on the table?

    • one true athena

“Foreign chief executives” are terrified that US immigration might be curtailed? OH NO! Let me check my Give AF Meter about what other countries think about our immigration laws and enforcement.

      • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

Considering that EU is having conniptions about the so called far right (ie populists) who are gaining ground over just that topic, they might want to clean up their own back yards first.

  17. The Late P Brooks

In our tent, we had access to our stuff, water, we could eat what we wanted to eat whenever we wanted, we could sleep at whatever hour,” Parejo said, adding that at the McNichols Building, “they turn off the lights at 10:30.

They need their sleep, what with the forced labor details and all. I’m sure they’re out there clearing snow and picking up trash to repay the city’s kindness and generosity.

  18. The Late P Brooks

While JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon wouldn’t predict a Trump victory, he echoed his fellow bank CEO’s comments in an interview Wednesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

“Just take a step back, and be honest. He was kind of right about NATO. He was kind of right about immigration, he grew the economy quite well. Trade. Tax reform worked. He was right about some of China,” said Dimon. “I don’t like how he said things about Mexico, but he wasn’t wrong about some of these critical issues. And that’s why they’re voting for him.”

Still, while Dimon also echoed the sentiment that an apocalypse is unlikely, he did note he hopes “the country survives” with either the reelection of President Joe Biden or the return of Trump to the White House, even as some fear American democracy would be threatened by his return.

Yes, yes, of course, the boilerplate: Donald Trump is known by civil society experts to cause cancer.
