Flying Saucer Rock N Roll

Those guys don't even look like me. It's insulting!

Pot smoking aliens come to earth and corrupt beatniks into society-destroying zombies!Β  All I can say is, this would never happen…

Flying Saucer Rock N Roll

On the Dangers of Idolizing Rock Stars: Electra Woman and Dyna Girl

Tonight’s film is a true labor of love, supposedly shot for $1,000.Β  That would mean other people donated the time, cameras, acting, props, etc… as free use.Β  As we all know, TANSTAAFL. What this does do is prove what is possible spending as little money as possible and relying on donations of time and resources. This was written, directed, shot and produced by Eric Callero and his family.Β  If you don’t recognize the name, he was a staff member on Conan O’Brien. He’s played some characters, maybe did some uncredited writing. Clearly he has some talent and experience.Β  Nobody can do this well organically.

Now as I write this on Monday morning, the Superbowl has ended. With it, maybe Swift mania will die off. Β  I expect much jousting about it in the comments. So I added an old Old Electra Woman and Dyna Girl about idolizing rock stars, and how they can hypnotize you into participating in their plan for world domination.Β  This is a stellar two-part episode!Β  Note the Electroracer car used by Electro Woman and Dyna Girl. it was designed and built by George Barris.Β  He did this outside of his Barris Enterprises company, looks like he just did it as a one-off project. It’s very cool.Β  Possibly a golf cart, or a Honda 3-wheeler under there…

So watch!Β  Or Don’t!Β  Everything is voluntary until Taylor Swift hypnotizes you in a plot to take over the world!

For some reason now, the trailer is playing before the movie starts. I don’t think it was doing that last week. The actual film starts at around 4 minutes.

    • Common Tater

      I got the trailer too.

      • R.J.

It’s bizarre and confusing to open with a trailer.

      • Common Tater

More confusing followed by blank silence.

      • R.J.

        That’s what she said!

    • DEG

      Dude….

      Rockabilly
      Cars
      Hot women
      Marijuana

Oh yeah. I’m gonna like this.

Pot smoking aliens come to earth and corrupt beatniks into society-destroying zombies! All I can say is, this would never happen…

    Hmm…. intriguing.

    Diving in.

    • R.J.

I finally decided this was worth posting. I was torn. Parts of it are brilliant. Others are flatter than the earth (adjusts tinfoil hat). But for the budget and the dedication it deserved some attention.

  3. DEG

    Angles.

  4. Common Tater

Watching this guy wax poetic in front of a fire reminds me of I Drink Your Blood (1971). That would be a great Thurs night movie.

    • R.J.

Let me add that. Sorry to vanish for a moment, i just stopped working and needed to clean up.

  5. The Hyperbole

I cant believe they got Jim Croce to play the villain’s sidekick in the EW&DG episode.

    • R.J.

I have been watching those. Unbelievable the guests that show up. And the cheese level.

      • R.J.

Far Out Space Nuts was just posted on Tubi too.

  6. R.J.

I actually had the full Home Handyman book set at one time. Same one in this movie. It did not have ray gun plans.

  7. LCDR_Fish

Gotta say – Red Tandem brewery in Oxnard CA (outside Port Hueneme naval station) knows what they’re doing.

Had their Taco Incident amber ale, SoCAl Milk Stout and Strawberry Blonde Ale were all excellent. Weirdly they have a 12% ABV triple IPA that is actually pretty mild/drinkable compared to most IPAs. Says it’s 111 IBU but doesn’t taste that “bad” to me. May try a full glass if I make it back here.

β€œTaylor Swift hypnotizes you in a plot to take over the world!”

    I’m confused and aroused.

    • R.J.

      This is the correct reaction.

    • Common Tater

Honestly, I don’t think she’s that hot, even if you are into the skinny blonde thing.

They played a club I managed years ago. Those guys are funny as hell.

    • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

      +1 Sexecutioner!

    • slumbrew

To this day my brothers and I still call each other Sac, a tribute to BΓ€lSΓ€c, whose name we found hilarious when we saw them profiled on MTV (early 90s, mebbe?)

β€œSup, Sac?” is the now-traditional greeting.

  10. Derpetologist

There was a short-lived Netflix animated comedy series called Inside Job that addressed various conspiracies. It reminded me of NSA, especially the line about “a building full of lies designed to make people miserable”.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yar3x6tyh3M

I learned recently that someone from my old NSA section died suddenly. My guess it was a suicide. She was in her 20s.

    • LCDR_Fish

Great show. I thought it was 2 seasons, but apparently using the Netflix system it was just p1 and p2 of season 1. Enjoyed it a lot – there’s a couple YouTube videos out there on why it may not have gotten a proper season 2.

      • Derpetologist

As a late reply, last time I checked, the retention control point for SGT (E5) is 14 years vs. 20 years for SSG (E6). Most enlisted guys who retire do so as an SFC (E7), but SSG is the lowest rank possible to do 20 years of service.

      • prolefeed

My guess is that Inside Job wasn’t politically correct enough to survive being axed by woke studio execs. The female lead’s name was Reagan, FFS.

  11. DEG

    The movie was good.

Now on Electro Woman and Dyno Girl. Trippy.

    • R.J.

Did you grow up when those were on Saturday mornings?

      • DEG

No, I don’t remember ever seeing this.

  12. DEG

    Wow.

    I’m out for the night.

    Thanks RJ!

    • R.J.

      Thanks for coming!

  13. Tres Cool

I know we’re not 4Chan or nearly autistic enough to have a hive mind. But since its movie night- if anyone can track down a copy of April’s Fool it would be of great sentimental value.

Ex Mrs Tres’ friend played April- we went the the “premier” at some indie theater in Cincinnati. It honestly wasn’t a horrid movie. Id just like to find a copy someplace to gift.

    • R.J.

I shall keep an eye out.

The aliens will make themselves known to us with the advent of The First That Shall Change Everything when the world is First enough for their arrival.

  15. Ownbestenemy

So I listened to most of the Fani Willis disqualification hearing…what an insight into how state level operators are smug as shit.

    • Brochettaward

“Ms. Merchant’s interests are, contrary to democracy, your Honor, not to mine,” Willis responded.

      Yea…she wasn’t hostile at all.

      • Brochettaward

I’m fairly certain if anyone else had acted like that, the judge would have been nowhere near as deferential as he was. Just let this bitch say whatever she wanted.

  16. Brochettaward

Not Adahn denies arguing shit he argued.

  17. Mojeaux

Just out from JBP, sitting in the parking lot waiting. Excellent lecture. Lots of people.

    • Brochettaward

      JBP?

      • Mojeaux

        Jordan Peterson.

    • creech

What did he say that was libertarian? Wiki says he supports universal health care and the redistribution of wealth, and doesn’t consider himself to be right wing.

      • Mojeaux

Ranted about wokism and what a dumpster fire education (elementary through university) is, and said a lot of anti-marxist/socialist/postmodernism stuff. He was asked about homeschooling because he’s never been in favor of it, and now he’s like, well…everything else sucks so, like, why not?

He talks a lot about the Old-Testament-and-Revelation-as-literature and weaves them in with Nietzsche and Jung, Doystoyevsky and the like, and I find his analyses fascinating, plus I love theology (but he doesn’t speak to theology, just to the stories’ universalism). He doesn’t talk about the New Testament at all and I don’t believe he’s religious, much less a Christian or anything.

      • Mojeaux

I have never heard him discuss redistribution of wealth or universal healthcare. I’ve listened to a lot of his lectures and interviews, though not all, so I might have missed it.

He does not consider himself to be right-wing, but every proggie who’s heard his name does.

She is set to get tossed off the case and will likely have her career derailed. Love how she testified has piles of cash around to pay off her lover for all expenses on their expensive vacations. What a smug fucking mug.

      • Ownbestenemy

In her world view, doesn’t every woman have stashes of cash just lying around?

    • slumbrew

At least Steele is doing hard time…

  19. UnCivilServant

    I’m confused.

I’m trying to set up some resistors to take the edge off a power supply and I’m getting results that don’t make sense to me.

I had two 220 Ohm resistors in series which gave me a voltage reading of 4.3vDC. I added a 1K Ohm resistor to the series, reading somewhere slightly above 1400 Ohm, but the voltage still read 4.3vDC. There were no short circuits showing when I tested for them.

Should I be looking for an amperage drop?

    • Plinker762

Not sure what you mean by take the edge off.

A regulated power supply will actively control the output voltage as the current changes. The output voltage of an unregulated power supply will drop with increasing current due to its internal resistance.

      • UnCivilServant

I have a pack of 3 AAA batteries (Yes, I realize if I’d gotten a 2-cel pack it’d meet my needs better for this case) I wanted to get the output to a level where it wasn’t going to cause issues for an LED as part of a different test. I’m trying to figure out why the numbers didn’t change.

      • R.J.

HIM MEAN DRINK WATER AND GO TO THE CHILL ROOM.

Hrm. Must be early. Double links, for safety. πŸ˜’

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean! Haven’t even had my first sip of coffee. ::yawns::

      • Gender Traitor

…and I’d call that quirky, which is generally a positive review from me.

Some more snow ❄ on the way.

    Wheeee!

I might have to shovel the deck so I can grill on Sunday.

    • Gender Traitor

Our snow is predicted to start this afternoon. I’m thinking of taking the opportunity of that, my boss’s absence, and a long-awaited lull in the proceedings at my job to ask the soon-to-retire Big Boss if I can leave early.

      • Gender Traitor

Hmmm. The radar shows the Big Blue Blob about to cross the state line from IN. Makes me suspect it will arrive here well before afternoon. πŸ˜’β„β„β„

    • Don escaped Texas

Bethel said the officer got out of his vehicle and went to the driver’s side door. The police officer was then struck and pinned up against a wall by the vehicle, Bethel claimed.

I can’t imagine a situation for which this is the best description of what happened. The passive voice in the second sentence is avoiding telling us something.

a passenger exited the vehicle and was detained by the witnesses at the scene

      what’s the authority for this?

  21. UnCivilServant

That was an interesting commute. There wasn’t a lot of snow on the ground, just enough to get rid of traction, but people still appear to have forgotten how to deal with that. Plus the plows had just started, so the idiots had to share the road with giant salt-filled rams that don’t follow the normal traffic pattern (ie, the one that was clearing the turn lane, but merged back into forward traffic without signalling)

    • Gender Traitor

giant salt-filled rams that don’t follow the normal traffic pattern rules of safe driving…

Failure to use turn signals is a particular pet peeve of mine. My Driver’s Ed teacher drilled into our heads, “Signal your intentions!!!”

Glad you made it to work safely.

      • UnCivilServant

My thought regarding not following normal traffic patterns was in that people in the turn lane don’t return to the forward traffic, they turn.

      • Gender Traitor

True, so in this case the plow driver followed neither the normal traffic pattern nor the rules.

    • Gender Traitor

“Oh, goodness gracious! We only just now realized that this previously trusted source was lying to us! Imagine our shock and dismay!”

That would be too much like work. Covfefe and tobacco is sufficient.

      • Gender Traitor

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

Haven’t figured that out yet. Part time greeter at WalMart, maybe. For the lulz, and benefits.

      • Fourscore

Don’t count on it, you’ll be too busy to work.

        Good deal, G’Patzer!

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

Thanks, 4×20! I’m good with taking advice from someone who knows πŸ˜‰

      • R.J.

That was my plan also. Either that or mow lawns for exercise if I am able.

  23. Beau Knott

  24. Fourscore

Morning, Every Woman and Every Man Glibs.

Late but I was busy drinking coffee, cleaning my glasses, starting the fire.

Last cold day, looks like, and Spring re-springs. No snow in the forecast for 10 days at least and finally sunshine

    • R.J.

      This is good.
I put out the patio furniture cushions and swept up. Springtime!
