Saturday evening links of gluttony

A 34 year old Hermitage with Detroit style pizza is how The Stupids roll.

Old Man and I are definitely in, at least in his case, old man stage. We don’t pop as many corks per sitting as we used to, but we still know how to pull a decent bottle.

Links?

5-5-5. The bells have tolled, brother. RIP.

I call this a positive. I’m willing to bet there are plenty of shenanigans to be found.

This shit has got to stop.

I can see why Vlad would like Biden to get re-elected.

Tard on tard violence.

“Rachel” is at it again.

Speaking of Rachel.

Okay, I’m out. Old Man turned me onto a Miles Davis album that I wasn’t familiar with. Laid down in 1949, it comes across as a bridge between swing and jazz.

Pretty egregious that you could be convicted based on evidence generated by a computer program you couldn’t scrutinize.

      • Suthenboy

‘egregious’ is an apt descriptive for nearly everything the govt at all levels today does. They are so far out of their lane they cant even see the road anymore.

      • Chafed

It’s very common in DUI cases.

Sorry, “models” don’t count. I know because the sponsors are Dems.

Wow, I just woke up from a too-long nap and thought it was Sunday evening. For a minute there I was pretty bummed.

    • Tres Cool

I wish I could sleep that well.
I tried to take a nap after Tres V 2.0 and I had breakfast (mine was heavy on carbs). I come home- between NewPuppy, other doge(s) playing it was neigh impossible.
Then Jugsy got on the phone, her shrill voice bouncing all over the tin walls of our Palatial 2X-Wide™ like a BB in a boxcar.

I just gave up and started drinking.

        “mine was heavy on carbs”

        Dude…

      • Tres Cool

Dont judge. Im working on it.
Living on the road (and being lazy with no self-discipline) low-carb is HARD.

I’m here for support. And shaming.

Dangnabbit… now I want a good pan pizza. There’s a “Detroit-style” at the grocery store here… but it sucks. Really, I miss the Pizza Hut pan pizza they used to make in the late 80s/early 90s…. that didn’t suck.

Every time I’ve tried to make something similar (basically using a pie pan, 2 pizza crusts and a crap load of toppings, it ends up too soggy.

Enjoy your dinner, y’all… know that you have sparked Envy while you enjoy Gluttony and Sloth. 3 out of 7 ain’t bad, I suppose.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

Yah, me too. Anyone remember Square Pan Pizza?

1990, good vintage. Not corked, I hope.

      • Derpetologist

I like Mello Mushroom pizza. I get mine with mushrooms and anchovies. It’s peak umami. There’s one in Ocala, but don’t feeling like driving an hour for pizza.

      • Pine_Tree

I like ’em too. Taking Mom out to the one in the ‘boro tomorrow, actually. When I was in school in ATL in the early ’90’s, the Mello Mushrooms very much gave off the vibe of a stoner dive, instead of the tony hipster place it is now.

    • rhywun

The Pizza Hut personal pan pizza available on Broadway near Wall Street in the late 90s/early 00s was sublime.

That’s why I don’t have any unkind words for them. Sure, I haven’t been to one in two decades but still.

      • Derpetologist

        +1 BOOK IT! Pizza button

And it’s 20° out so pass.

      • DenverJ

The best thing about 20th century Pizza Hut was the lunch buffet. It is no longer offered, and I think this is the reason for Pizza Hut’s decline.

      • Chafed

I remember that buffet. Too bad they ditched it.

In interviews with The Associated Press, many Black women leaders expressed frustration and disappointment that public attention had turned from the merits of the criminal case to the personal conduct of the Black woman overseeing the prosecution. For them, the court challenge to Willis echoes familiar experiences of tests of their authority, competence and character.

“I love that she stood up for herself, but I hate the fact that she had to,” said Melanie Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation. She said that when she saw video of the testimony she felt: “Why are you all treating her like SHE’S on trial?”

    ——-

Willis, who has a reputation as an incisive trial attorney, was visibly upset when she took the stand Thursday to reject allegations that she improperly profited from the prosecution because of the relationship.

“It is a lie,” the district attorney said of allegations in court filings.

“You’ve been intrusive into people’s personal lives. You’re confused. You think I’m on trial,” Willis testified. “These people are on trial for trying to steal an election in 2020. I’m not on trial, no matter how hard you try to put me on trial.”

      • NoDakMat

She’s a great trial attorney in the same way Dr. Jill Biden is an excellent doctor. Just need to be a good foot soldier for the party and the talking heads will spread the word.

I suppose that’s true. It seems like the edifice falls apart once your average person gets to see it.

Fun thought experiment: Imagine a white guy DA hiring his honey (when one or both are married) as a special prosecutor for a case against the Biden of your choice.

    • Spudalicious

      I have to agree.

  7. DenverJ

I uh, didn’t file my taxes last year because I couldn’t pay them. My plan was to take no deductions from withholdings this year and hope it is a wash. Can that be done?

    • creech

Are you registered in the correct political party?

      • DenverJ

I think technically I am still registered with the Colorado Libertarian Party, maybe? That the right party to het breaks from the federal govmint, right?

    • Tres Cool

You can also file 2 Form 520 if you don’t have 1 1040 handy.

    • Mojeaux

Dude, not paying is one thing. It’s the not-filing that’s the problem.

You need to file both last year’s and this year’s. Deal with the payment problem later (they do set up payment plans).

      • DenverJ

I have all the forms from last year and this. I pulled from my 401k to finance the move to MI. That’s my big liability from last year. (lol not that big but I was broke)

      • DenverJ

Huh reply was for Tres. My reply to you is thanks, but I hope this year’s return covers Las year’s debt (plus interest?). I just am wondering if there is a way to file both year at once.

      • Mojeaux

It doesn’t work like that. They’re four different things.

        2022 return
        2022 debt payment
        2023 return
        2023 refund

File the returns. Worry about the money later.

      • DenverJ

Damn. I thought that was the deal, but I was hoping that the smartest people I know had some knowledge that I did not. Won’t the IRS automatically keep my 2023 to pay 2022? Oh, it won’t get into the system gast enough, whereas if I had filed last year…

      • Gustave Lytton

Either they’ll keep it or return it to you (and you can write a check right back to them).

      • Chafed

You are assuming the timing works out. Mojo is right. File both years’ returns. Don’t worry about whether they keep some or all of this year’s refund. If they do, then it gets credited against what you owe.

      • hayeksplosives

I had to straighten out my (now ex) husband’s taxes before we married. He hadn’t filed since 2002 because he knew he couldn’t afford it (wages severely garnished for child support).

So I used TurboTax and his W2s to do his 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006 taxes, all mailed in by April 15 2006.

(I did my 2006 separately since we weren’t yet married.)

The IRS processed everything and sent a letter that he owed $xx for one year, then another letter saying that they owed him for a different year. Within the course of a week they’d figured out the net total owned by him to them and offered a quarterly payment plan.

It was all very civil and surprisingly efficient.

So don’t worry; they appreciate the “little guy” being honest, at least back then. They really want to take on people who owe many tens or hundreds of thousands.

        Good luck!

      • hayeksplosives

        Oh, also 2005.

Anyway, sun total was he owed less than $2000 and paid it off on a reasonable quarterly basis. And the black cloud hanging over him was gone.

      • DEG

        Yes. Do this.

      • Mojeaux

        Bite the bullet. 😬

      • Ted S.

        Better than follow.

      • slumbrew

Yes, this. Ya gotta file even if you can’t pay.

      • DenverJ

Okay thanks I’ll check it out.

      • Gustave Lytton

File first and stop the penalty clock (for not filing) and figure out the payment amount after. It’s possible (likely) they would garnish/withhold your 23 refund if you have a previously owed amount but they need that filing for 22 first to determine the amount.

    • The Hyperbole

Are you making Dennis Rodman money? If not don’t worry about it, file last years when you file this years, or not ,they don’t care. The compliance rate is like 75%, anyone who works in the trades knows people who haven’t filed in years, it’s the norm. Unless you just happen to be the guy they decide to make an example of they aren’t throwing you in jail, or take all your shit. it’s all part of the game, senators and the robber baron class make ridiculous amounts of scratch for more or less jerking off, they don’t care about Joe Blow. As long as they are getting their share of the pretend money they couldn’t give a fuck if some house painter in Iowa is or isn’t filing for that 30k they made in 2021.*

*I am not a lawyer or an accountant and any advise I give is most likely complete horse shit, but it does represent my lived experience.

      • Threedoor

Buddy of mine did t file for at least a decade.
The o Lt thing he did was to buy the cities biz license and play ball with the fire guys who came to inspect him.

        Saved him tens of thousands.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

      Look for an Enrolled Agent.

    • DrOtto

File late and submit a request for payment plans. They just want some form of compliance. Ignore at your peril. I have a buddy who hasn’t filed forever and is also a sovereign citizen and it hasn’t bit him (yet) and I have a customer who owes $35k (penalties and interest) for not taxing shipping over several years for his business. Interestingly, the latter is a big government booster so my sympathy is not all that strong in his case.

Among Kimmel’s scripts for Santos were videos congratulating a woman for successfully cloning her schnauzer named Adolf, as well as a man for winning a competitive ground beef eating contest, court papers noted.

In addition to allegedly violating Cameo’s terms of service and Santos’ copyright, the suit claims Kimmel committed fraud by using fake aliases to solicit videos “for the sole purpose of capitalizing on and ridiculing [Santos’] gregarious personality” — and even bragged on his show about his duplicity.

    Can’t they all lose?

    • rhywun

The combined atrocities committed on one day on the set of Kimmel is worse than everything Santo allegedly did and was fired for.

      • R.J.

To hell with them both. It’s like turning over a rock to even hear about Kimmel.

They loved it. Bit of a nice victory. And they don’t and shouldn’t like when I’m in a more solitary mood. Hockey just ended. Tomorrow I gotta order my taxes and more Life Strategy goals. I know It’ll get emotional. Yay-cicles. All good things, though. More uprise needed, and on the way.

Can’t wait to hear from the true believers how none of this matters.

      • Grumbletarian

        From the same article:

Texas-based True the Vote filed complaints with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in 2021, including one in which it said it had obtained “a detailed account of coordinated efforts to collect and deposit ballots in drop boxes across metro Atlanta” during the November 2020 election and a January 2021 runoff.

A Fulton County Superior Court judge in Atlanta signed an order last year requiring True the Vote to provide evidence it had collected, including the names of people who were sources of information, to state elections officials who were frustrated by the group’s refusal to share evidence with investigators.

In their written response, attorneys for True the Vote said the group had no names or other documentary evidence to share.

If you file a complaint and then can’t present any evidence when required, how reasonable is it to expect your complaint to be treated as credible?

      • prolefeed

Misleading headline … sounds like standard journalistic practice to not reveal confidential sources, who would likely be subjected to lawfare from a hostile entity that is sueing you.

Getting jailed for contempt of court for not throwing your confidential sources to the wolves lends some credibility, IMO.

How you balance that duty to your sources, with a duty to the voters to pressure a corrupt system to quit stealing elections … dunno.
