Trump calls for ‘Second Chance’ after Bud Light fiasco: ‘Anheuser-Busch is not a Woke company’
Donald Trump stuck up for Bud Light on Tuesday.
The former president took to his Truth Social site and called for an end to the conservative boycott of what had been America’s No. 1 beer brand until it partnered with a transgender social-media influencer last year.
“The Bud Light ad was a mistake of epic proportions, and for that a very big price was paid, but Anheuser-Busch is not a Woke company,” Mr. Trump said.
“Anheuser-Busch is a Great American Brand that perhaps deserves a Second Chance?” he said.
The beer giant, which lost tens of billions in market cap and saw Bud Light sales tumble by about a quarter in the wake of its partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, has been eagerly rebranding itself in recent months, working instead with more masculine and conservative partners.
It has signed a new sponsorship deal with the UFC mixed-martial arts promotion, has partnered with football legend Peyton Manning and will sponsor the upcoming tour of comedian Shane Gillis, who once was fired from “Saturday Night Live” over purportedly racist jokes.
The former real-estate tycoon, who is friends with UFC president Dana White and whose son Donald Jr. also had called for conservative Bud Light boycotts to cease, noted Anheuser-Busch was helping veterans and farmers — two of his key favored groups.

Trout gonads can cure baldness when injected into head, according to scientists
Boffins have found that trout balls can cure baldness.
They use polynucleotides – from the gonads of the fish – to stimulate stem cell regeneration in slapheads.
Tiny 2ml micro-needles are filled with the substance and injected into the scalp, which “kick-starts” follicles to grow stronger and thicker hair.
The treatment had a “high level of efficacy” for “hair thickening”, research reported in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found.
It added: “It promotes and accelerates hair growth and is demonstrably associated with the growth of stronger and healthier hair shafts.”

You wenches are exceptions.
You’re waiting to finish your spreadsheet until after you’ve made us sandwiches?
Maybe we can come up with some kind of compromise?
—“My spreadsheet is updated only so far”—
When I first tried to register a few years back (but even then , for some reason I wasn’t able too), I had already been lurking for quite a while. I thought then that what I should do is create a spreadsheet so that I could hit the ground running if I was ever able to register. But since then, I have developed a little familiarity with the commenters as far as what there positions/likes/dislikes were. I even have a favorite Glib.
I have an unavoidable urge to catalog everything: people, ideas, art, and images, among other things.
I have developed a little familiarity with the commenters as far as what there positions/likes/dislikes were.

My brother believes you should not be allowed to vote unless you are a veteran or own property.
I would be fine with that. In fact, I think I favor that (even though I don’t own property). What I am not okay with is “women shouldn’t vote.”
Bitch, please. Every Pabst-swilling Cletus and Bocephus can vote. They aren’t better than I am just because they have a penis.
If you are enacting laws that I’m supposed to be governed by than I get a vote, simple as that. If you want to say that only veterans can vote on things that only affect veterans and likewise property owners I’d agree but good luck somehow making that distinction.

Tim Pool made a good observation. If a company reverses course the way Bud Light seems to have then they should be rewarded and not be continued to be punished for their earlier transgression of going woke.
Of course I’m not entirely convinced that Bud Light has reversed course in its corporate offices. But at least their reversing course in its marketing.
The problem with that is it’s a commodity product. Among most people, there’s little to no difference between Bud/Miller/Coors except for personal preference, current price point, and availability. If the brand did something that you didn’t like, they need to fix one of the other two things to get back in the good graces. With Bud Light sales dropping off, even the availability took a hit as grocery stores cut shelf space, and bars moved it off tap.
That’s entirely too genteel.
Burn it all down. Shoot the survivors. Salt the ground.
You sure that is Tim’s current position?
*shrug* he may have changed his position since then. I’m of the mind that incentives matter. If you punish corporations for engaging in woke shenanigans then you should reward them for reversing course by no longer boycotting them. However Neph brings up the point that the horse may have left the barn as people have already changed their drinking habits. Not me I’ve boycotted Bud Light for over 30 years because after I left college I could afford decent beer and as many of you know I no longer drink period.
I agree with Dr. Fronk. If all you offer is the push, and no pull, you aren’t any better than the weasels who are screwing around with everything. You need to have a reason for people to join with you, not just another flavor of “burn it all down.”
No burning? No shooting? No salting? Where is the fun in that?

I’m going to cut out the middleman. Carefully extract the polynucleotides from the fish nuts, then re-inject them into the fish. Then my dream of fur-bearing trout will finally come to fruition. I figure if I can carefully scoop the trout out of their ponds instead of having to hook them, it’ll be nothing but net profit.
What you done there, it was seine.

“Campaigners call for The Midget pub to change its name as it’s ‘offensive’
Pub operator Greene King is aware of the situation and said that it is assessing the situation, which has seen hundreds of people flock to petition forms to request a name change
Some 700 people have asked for the change by signing a petition – even though the boozer is originally named after a car. Abingdon, Oxfordshire, saw construction of various models of MG including the Midget from 1929 until 1979. In 1974 the Magic Midget pub opened and its name was shortened to just the midget in 2000.
Protest organiser and lecturer in Disability and Education at Liverpool Hope University Erin Pritchard said pub chiefs “should recognise the offence of the term and its implications”.
She added: “Midget is a derogatory word used towards people with dwarfism.“It is a term derived from the word ‘midge’ meaning Gnat or Sand-fly, which is dehumanising.”

Too be fair, there are lots of people who need to be pointed at, laughed at, and mocked.
Yes, I found that a bit puzzling. Who the hell would do something like that?
I don’t know. I was listening to one of Adam Carolla’s podcasts and he had on Brad Williams as a guest. Williams was telling a story about how he was doing shows at some casino and the comic he was with told a busload of Asian tourists that it was well known that rubbing the head of a dwarf was good luck. Williams said he thought it was funny at the time, but then one of the Asians hit it big at some game and for the rest of the weekend he was getting attacked by Asian gamblers who wanted to rub his head.
So I think it has happened in the last 100 years.
I think that was also the podcast where they started joking that Williams and his wife would do a 34 and a half when having sex (instead of the traditional 69).

Rename it “Stubby’s Pub”. Or maybe just “The Dwarf”, and get a sign with one of the LOTR dwarves on it.

The trouble with the Bud Light issue is that most people confuse the tranny issue with the advertisers denigrating their customer base.
No one really give a fuck about trannies. Leftist pols have the same problem. Mock middle Americans, demean them, call them deplorables etc. and you are inviting trouble.
So BL is aiming at a more masculine demographic? Great but who cares. When do we get an apology from those low-T motherfuckers?
Fuck Bud Light.
The Mulvaney thing probably would have been forgotten quickly if it hadn’t been for the video of the stupid marketing lady demeaning their current customers. They seem to forget that they were selling a commodity product the people bought mostly out of habit. They gave people a reason to break their habit.
Yeah, no. No apology, no real walk-back. Hell, they didn’t even publicly fire the bint behind it all. Just pretending it never happened doesn’t qualify you for a second chance.
Its both. Tranny with no denigration, probably no boycott. Denigration with no tranny, probably no boycott. Both together, boycott.
They also picked the worst possibly trans person possible. Mulvaney comes across as fake, annoying, and not attractive even to people who like trans women. If they picked some hot trans model who wasn’t a political figure, I doubt anyone would have cared.
Inexhaustible grievance
Among the key findings released Wednesday, the survey found that trans people continue to report experiencing discrimination and mistreatment because of their gender identities and/or expressions.
More than one-third of adult respondents, or 34%, were experiencing poverty at the time of the survey, and 18% were unemployed. More than 1 in 10, or 11%, of respondents who had ever held jobs said they had been fired or forced to resign or had lost jobs or been laid off because of their gender identities or expressions. And, in line with previous survey findings, 30% of respondents had experienced homelessness in their lifetimes.
Of adult respondents who saw health care providers in the previous 12 months, 48% reported having had at least one negative experience because they were transgender, including being refused health care, having staff members use the incorrect pronouns for them or having providers use abusive language or be physically rough or abusive while treating them. Fear of mistreatment prevented 24% of respondents from seeing doctors when they needed it in the 12 months before the survey.
Reality does not respect my delusions.
Maybe insane people have some trouble navigating the standard issues of life?
No that can’t be it. The problem must be the normies.
Shorter bitching: “Life sometimes sucks.” And I’d bet a donut that the most horrible claims in there are made up or completely misrepresented in some way. And the inclusion of “incorrect pronouns” is not helping their cause, rather the opposite.
Somewhat longer shorter bitching: “Life sometimes sucks, especially when you’re an asshole.”
Because I bet very few who are genuinely trying to pass get much grief. It’s the “LOOK AT ME. I CUT MY BALLS OFF. RESPECT MY PRONOUNS.” crew that is going to get the pushback.
When you ideology requires me to lie to my self to maintain it’s illusion, you are the asshole, and not me.
Fuck off.

Unless they open their mouth and demand I parrot delusional things they believe, or else they’ll punish me.
“…trans people continue to report experiencing discrimination and mistreatment…because they are drama queens and live to stir shit making everything about themselves.”
Despite those negative experiences, the vast majority of adult respondents, 79%, who lived at least some of the time in different genders from the ones they were assigned at birth reported that they were “a lot more satisfied” with their lives. An additional 15% reported they were “a little more satisfied.”
Yay.
93% of respondents were delighted to be receiving attention during the survey, and would only stop talking when the person conducting the survey hung up the phone.
OK, game over.
You just made me laugh out loud for the first time today.
You write for the Bee?
Ha, thanks. If only.
Welp. Now that THAT’s out of the way, I shall get back to sorting affirmations.
Because you’re good enough, you’re smart enough and doggone it, people like you?
I really do like to collect affirmations, but rolling through them just now, I realize that most of that stuff just doesn’t apply to me anymore. I’m too old, somewhat wise, and completely worn out by life to care about identifying who I am, what I want, why my self-esteem is in the toilet, and how anxiety-riddled I really am.
What I know is, other than a couple of things I want to change about myself, I’m just not going to change. I kinda like my life and who I am (whoever that is), and there is just way too much attention paid to “the self.”
Going that deep into your navel is bound to have a lot of ill effects. Besides, that’s why God made therapists and anxiolytics.
Yeah. I know who and what I am at this point, and what I’m not. And I’m perfectly okay with that (well, most of it… I really should be better with money). I don’t need it to be an affirmation per se — I just don’t beat myself up about what I’m not because I am frankly, pretty content with how I’m living my life. Just not with external forces (job crap, politics, etc…) which I know I can’t do jack over crap about anyway.
Affirmations got me through a very long rough period with my house and my son. They’re left over and most of them don’t apply anymore. Or they’re cheap little bits of philosophy.
Hey, Mojo, regarding XY going to college. He might want to now, when there aren’t as many obstacles that life throughs at you in age, simply because if he ever decides to make the jump to corporate from store management, it will be looked at favorably. It might just be a hoop to jump through right now, but it won’t hurt for that.
Jubus. Throws, not that monstrosity of a word.
I see your point, but I can’t MAKE him do anything, and right now I’m a little jaded about college. It seems as if I’m encouraging him to eat the first marshmallow in favor of waiting to get a second, but I’m inclined to see the scholarship to college (with no intention of majoring in STEM or business) as the short-term opportunity and Chipotle (with a kid who’s talented at management) as the long-term opportunity.
Stem or business don’t really matter. It’s drive that is what pushes people to make the big bucks. And, honestly, I never had it, while my brother does. If you aren’t driven, you won’t major in something serious or hard, and you won’t push yourself to take the risks necessary, and do the hard work to be successful.
It sounds like your son has that drive. I know it is up to him and that you cannot make him do it, but it is something to think about.
Stem or business don’t really matter. It’s drive that is what pushes people to make the big bucks.

‘Pinky Swear,’ ‘Wonderland’ and ‘Salsa.’ Those are the catchy names of the three new caladium varieties released by University of Florida researchers.
The first, ‘Pinky Swear’ is already available at a nursery near you. So is ‘Salsa.’ ‘Wonderland’ should be ready to purchase next year.
For those of you not in the know, caladiums are a type of landscape or house plant that grows primarily in the summertime. Like coleus and poinsettias, it’s prized not for its flowers, but for its colorful bracts.

Netflix has a new docuseries on Alexander the Great. Alexander the Making of a God or some such. I haven’t watched it yet, but it strikes me…
Progressivism would normally look at a man like Alexander, a white guy who wanted to conquer the world, as a complete villain. But the docuseries celebrates him. Why? Because they can portray him as a gay icon. They cast some little twink to play Alexander who looks little like him. They have gay kiss scenes, apparently. Now, it’s never been proven that Alexander was gay. It’s ambiguous. He most definitely had relations with women, and fathered a child. So, his sexuality is not so clear.
But you wouldn’t see a series celebrating him if they couldn’t portray him as gay. That’s my strong hunch.
I suspect Al would stick it in anything warm and insufficiently quick on his/her/its feet.
I mean, a dude like that probably has testosterone running out of his ears. Needs to do SOMETHING with it.
At least according to the history left to us, that wasn’t really his character. Genghis Khan he was not. Early Alexander was noted for being chaste. When he beat Darius at Gaugamela and captured his wife, she offered herself to him and he declined.
The reputation is why a lot of historians lean towards gay along with Hephaestion and his favored eunuch. We get mixed reports on how into his wife Roxana he was.
Now, if we are getting deep into his psychology, it may just be a backlash against his father who would notably stick it in any wet hole willing or unwilling. Also a notorious drunk whereas young Alexander was not (never really got old, but developed his hard drinking later in his reign).
He had a guy he kept with him who he held in high esteem and was known to have sex with and was devestated when the guy died but as you say he banged broads too. Who the hell knows, the guy was Greek for Christ’s sake…even homosexuality with them isn’t quite homosexuality.
His relationship with Hephaestion is assumed to be sexual, but there’s no smoking gun evidence in that regard. It’s all ambiguous.
But yes, sexuality with the Greeks was different than how we classify it today. But the modern progressives have this weird fascination with pigeonholing people into modern categories. They kind of have to do it because their entire narrative is that people are born gay and that it’s purely a matter of genetics/nature. Historical evidence says otherwise. Modern trends kind of suggest something otherwise.
I’m not saying people “choose” to be gay, but that there is a lot more going on than people are just born that way.
“So, his sexuality is not so clear.” No shit.
To us, of course not. People in other cultures see sexuality in a very different light than we do. Of course these gay activist types are trying to apply our cultural values to other cultures then claim we are ignorant rubes unlike the enlightened people from the Stone Age.
The same blunder historians make by applying our standards today to people of the past.
Not satisfied with cracking my windshield – probably because I didn’t have to pay out of pocket to replace it – I-75 in downtown Dayton tossed a nasty pothole into my path on the way home from work, giving my right front tire this lovely bulge.
OMG!!!
I LOLed at your response to “this lovely bulge”.
Remember: I write romance. I love a nice bulge.
I hesitated before clicking on that (I mean, c’mon!), but I did. You may also need a new wheel. That one doesn’t look bent, but it could be just enough not to take the tire right. You should have them check it when they replace the tire.
Last time I was done in by a pothole (on the state route through my own lovely township,) the tire was fine but the wheel was bent. I’m hoping the fact that I didn’t noticeably lose pressure the rest of the way home bodes well for the wheel being OK this time. We’ll see how it looks when it’s time to head to Discount Tire tomorrow morning. 🤞
I’ve driven long stretches of I-75, and am convinced it’s a an encroachment of Hell onto Earth. (Yes, even as an atheist)
Right after I hit it, I passed several cars pulled over on the shoulder, so clearly the Beast was hungry.
Ouch
Ouch.

The rubber layers have separated. You have to replace that immediately. It cannot be repaired. That is a blowout waiting to happen.
Yup. Appointment at 10 a.m. tomorrow – as soon as they could get the tire there. Not driving anywhere else in the meantime!
Have the rim checked for cracking. Could also be a dent on the inside counterpart on that rim. That sucks, sorry.
Thanks. As I mentioned above, last time the (right rear) tire was fine, but the inside of the rim was dented.
