The Hat and The Hair Animated: Rerun: Ep 15

by | Apr 10, 2024 | Hat and Hair | 96 comments

This is it! The Pizza De Resistance with extra pineapple and jalapeño! In the (holy fuck!) over half decade I’ve been doing my silly cartoon that roughly 100 Glibs watch (and no one else), this is I think the best one. For context, Trump had his famous build-up of meetings with Kim Jong Un, to stop the hysteria that he was going to nuke the world the way leftists dreamt Regan would. Then, the final meeting was called off with no official explanation. This is where I stepped in to explain things behind the curtain. I did some pretty epic in character tweets during the Hanoi Summit, but alas no one saw them, just like my cartoons.

I’m going to grab CPRM by his abnormally elongated taint and get us to 100 comments.

    • Chafed

Weird. You firsted and didn’t mention it.

    • Sean

      Not quite there yet.

      • Tres Cool

        He’s last at firsting.

    @evan

‘I didn’t! and I don’t care if I DO.” I’m embarrassed that telling a kid to piss off would be so frowned on. I didn’t scream it, but I *did* say it like you would to a drunk at a bar you’re fed up with. How “bad” do you think that is to say to a kid? He was purposefully being a dick in the rain. Historically, he deserved far worse than what I gave him. I also, do not have children. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯’

Sounds like he deserved worse. Minus points for using naughty words, bonus points for giving the kid something to chew on. I think you can do better next time. /does have kids

Wait, we’re supposed to be fed up with drunks in bars?

/sets triple bourbon-over down, and stumbles backwards.

      • Suthenboy

        Depends on the drink

      • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

As I said, triple bourbon over ice. That was my drink of choice back in the day.

    • Drake

Answering your question from the dead thread.

I usually have an IT team member on my team. Between the business owner, IT rep, and me – we get the system intakes done. That starts the process getting the work prioritized and assigned to an agile team.

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

Huh, okay. I think our work is very different.

I do appreciate it though. Sounds like your getting a lot more support elements. I’m doing both jobs (technical reviews, project scope, etc. and project management).

I have about 5 projects (with carrying degrees of difficulty) plus a few other duties on top. Upper management wants to give me 5 new projects all at once in to of the rest… I am letting them know that quality will suffer…

    Most excellent Chairman Hat.

  4. Fourscore

You’re right, CPRM. Best one. I laughed at the sweat stains in Donnie’s suit. The Hat(s) were on top of their game(s) tonight.

Thanks. I had to turn the volume up to hear the whispering from KJI’s hat. Donnie bought Chic Fil Et in GA today for the customers, moving on up from McD’s, probably saw the prices and decided not to contribute anything to inflation

  5. kinnath

I watched; I remembered it; I enjoyed it again.

  6. Brochettaward

    I’m cocked and Firsted.

  7. The Bearded Hobbit

The Godfather is on again. I still have not been able to finish the movie. For one thing, I’m too deaf to understand what is going on. For the rest, I just don’t care about a bunch of hoodlums. Greatest movie, my ass.

    Mafia! is more fun.

    • Grummun

      Jane Austen’s Mafia!

The old lady loading up on raw broccoli is priceless.

      • Grummun

The reviews included on the Wikipedia page say Mafia! came out the week after There’s Something About Mary, and how Mary was hi-larious and Mafia! suffered by comparison. There’s Something About Mary sucked, start to finish.

      • The Bearded Hobbit

        Never “got” Mary.

      • Not Adahn

I thought I was going to hate that movie, but it’s the last one I’ve seen where I was literally loling in to parking lot afterwards remembering it.

    • Suthenboy

Greatest movie? Citizen Kane. This is indisputable.

Had a political conversation today. It was a hot mess, of course. The problem was that we were using labels when labels are essentially useless. The mention of any of them conjures up a can-o-worms set of beliefs, two cans actually, one each in the minds of the debaters. Those cans dont have the same worms in them. The debaters get nowhere arguing past each other.
I was finally able to get him to understand how we are different. One set of ideas is based on ideas, the other on strategies. ‘Marxism’ as we understand it is not really marxism but a set of strategies with an end goal…strategies that have been tried and true since the beginning of time. Marx did not invent shit, he just bundled various disparate strategies for effective marketing. Ideas and principles create boundaries going beyond which is unacceptable. Anyone with honor or self-respect restrains themselves within those lines. The collectivist is not concerned with ideas, only strategies so for them nothing is beyond the pale.

I was also fiiiiiinally able to get him to recognize that the two diametrically opposing views, individualism and collectivism, is the crux of the debate. Individualists see the individual as an end in themselves. Institutions serve the interests of individuals. The collectivists see the individual as a means to an end. Individuals exist to serve the interests of the institutions. As earlier today I used the ‘crack a few eggs’ metaphor. Still cracking eggs but I have yet to see an omelet.
I noticed that his sails fell slack after hearing it put so simply and starkly. Seeing that got him to catch a glimpse of how ugly collectivism is and he is questioning if he is on the right side of history after all.
Should we have a round 2 I will keep y’all up to date. He will either come back and concede or harden his resolve. I have had a number of people tell me that they cannot disagree with any of my premises but cannot accept the conclusions they lead to. That is an admission that they construct and amend their arguments backwards from the preferred conclusion. That they did not understand how embarrassing that is says a lot about their level of self awareness.

      • The Bearded Hobbit

        Sorry, Citizen Kane blows.

Greatest movie of all time is The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

        Prove me wrong.

      • R.J.

You are both wrong. Gingerdead Man is the best film of all time. Gary Busey is a national… something or other.

      • Brochettaward

It would be a honor if I had a child and Gary Busey masturbated in front of them.

      • R.J.

He should recite a full stream of consciousness while he does it. His ramblings are epic.

      • Brochettaward

They should be recording his utterances and deciphering them for prophecies and Firsts.

      • Brochettaward

The above is a sick joke for those who lack the ability to detect them.

      • whahappan

I laughed, for what it’s worth. Which isn’t much.

      • Suthenboy

Prove you wrong? Ok…challenge accepted. Four words: The Outlaw Josie Wales.
        Wait….no. Just one word: Unforgiven
Listing my favorite movies contains a good many Eastwood movies. The guy is a movie making genius. We won’t talk about those horrible abortions about…uh…I dunno, something to do with a monkey.
Still, Citizen Kane is in a class by itself. A true masterwork.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

Once again, I post and it is a negative comment. I swore that I wasn’t going to do that any more so I stopped commenting. See you all later.

      • R.J.

Hey! Come back here! I can’t be negative all by myself!

      • UnCivilServant

Sure you can – just ionize.

      • whahappan

Wut? This is just the back and forth from the commentariat, unless I’m missing something.

    • CPRM

I’ve never sat through The Godfather either. That is feat to accomplish as a Film School grad, everyone at films schools are obsessed with The Godfather.

      • Not Adahn

Kids these days have no attention spans.

  8. Brochettaward

    Reason on Trump’s abortion stance.

Trump’s Abortion Stance Is Convenient, but That Does Not Mean He’s Wrong

    How generous of them.

    • Brochettaward

Given Trump’s history of asserting extraconstitutional powers, his abortion stance probably is motivated by partisan concerns rather than federalist principles. But that does not mean he is wrong.

      • Chafed

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

      • Suthenboy

Yeah, lets not talk about Obumblefuck’s record number of 9-0 SCOTUS losses.
Or Biden’s every action (I am fairly certain that the Biden puppet has Obama’s arm up it’s ass)

  9. Gustave Lytton

What’s up, gliberoonies? Full day of acktuall work again today and gonna the gerbil wheel back up after a shortish nap. Picked up a nice bottle of Old Forester single barrel on the way home but sadly don’t have enough time to try it, let alone a triple. Skipping out early tomorrow.

Doggo is half way through the bleeding stage. Maybe another week of constant daily laundry. Oh, and she escaped out to the world today. Hopefully without finding a boyfriend.

  10. CPRM

Watching the first episode of Fallout. The Brotherhood of Steel having a trans member and playing the pronoun game, not a promising sign.

    • Brochettaward

In the aftermath of nuclear war, alls you really have left are your pronouns.

    • Brochettaward

We can still get this shit to 100, CPRM. Just you and me.

      What are you wearing?

    • Sean

I have to wait till Friday to be able to watch with my gf. 😕

  11. dbleagle

Good episode. Somehow I missed it earlier. Little Kim’s fedora just doesn’t stand a chance against a ‘Murican Gimme Hat.

  12. hayeksplosives

    Nice!

I like how Kim’s hat’s mutterings have an accent.

    Well done, CPRM.

  13. hayeksplosives

At 5:15am central time April 11 1974, the Splosives was born.

So I’m turning 50 in a matter of hours. Never really thought I’d make it this far, so I’m pretty pumped about it.

Just got back to my apartment after being thoroughly rogered and wined & dined. I gotta say, I dig this situation in which I get to go to my own place at the end of the day. Oof, I hear that my cat has jumped on the bed.

    See ya later!

    • rhywun

      🥳

      Approaching 55 here. Sigh.

      • Fourscore

        Oh you kids!

      • Suthenboy

I am trying to catch up with you….slow down a bit.

I have been feeding the local feral bees in hopes of forcing a swarm. I think they have consumed nearly 100lbs of sugar already this spring. I wish I could have a look in their hive but they are about 50ft off of the ground in an old oak tree by the bayou. I bet their larder is overflowing.
New house is all set up and ready for them to move in.

    • Sean

      Happy birthday!!

    • Not Adahn

Dammit! I keep having fantasies about you as the “older woman.”

    • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

Happy birthday kid. Try not to misbehave too much.

      • Fourscore

Hayek, I’ll never forget your birthday! Today is also my Mom’s, she would be a little older, at 120 but still. I’m probably the last survivor that even remembers her.

    • slumbrew

      Happy birthday, youngster!

    • Suthenboy

Sounds like you are living your best life Hayek. This pleases me. Happy Birthday! Oh, and enjoy your youth while you have it.

*Went to visit an uncle with my father once. I had never met the guy. When we arrived unannounced at his house he was sitting on the front porch drinking coffee.
We got out of the car and were walking up to the porch when Uncle said “Well hello young man! I haven’t seen you for a while! How are you?” He was speaking to my 75 year old father…a while being around 60 years. He then said ” And you Sir, come shake my hand Suthenboy!” How in hell he knew who I was is a mystery to me. He and I had never seen each other in our lives.
Uncle was approaching 100 years old. *

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean, rhy, and U, and happy birthday, hayek!

      • rhywun

        Mornin’.

      • Gender Traitor

        How’s it going so far?

      • rhywun

It’s not. Maybe in a bit.

  14. Sean

    Truly, a great episode. 👍👍

    • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

Yup, was almost shocked when I went to the post office a few weeks ago, but at a certain point you just sigh and accept that your money is worth less now.

  15. UnCivilServant

    Morning, Glibs.

Today I get to haul my car into the shop to find out why it misbehaves at highway speeds.

Fun. Wish I knew how to figure out random noise from under the hood that it doesn’t make at idle.

    • Gender Traitor

Fun fact: the car never makes That Noise for the mechanic.

      • UnCivilServant

“I didn’t hear anything. That will be $200”

    • Not Adahn

Trying to diagnose a problem with one of my tools here. One of the issues is whatever problem stops production also deactivates the logging functions.

  16. Stinky Wizzleteats

From upthread: The Godfather not a good movie? You people are SICK!!!

    • Gender Traitor

Did not care for it. It insists upon itself.

      • rhywun

I know I’ve never watched any of it on purpose. Not my cup of tea.

    • Not Adahn

I am starting to think that most libertarians are actually brain-damaged.

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

        That would explain a lot.

    • cavalier973

The first one was better than the second one, although I did like the scenes in Havana.

      “You broke my heart!”
Did Michael really mean that? He seems so cold and heartless, it was hard for me to believe he was saying what he really felt. By the end of the second movie, it’s plain that there is no chance for reconciliation with Michael, for anybody.

The parts of Part 2 that dealt with Vito were kind of interesting, but Robert De Niro can’t hold a candle to Marlon Brando, so I had difficulty believing he was Vito.

      • cavalier973

It is another rare case where the movie is better than the book. Getting rid of all the extraneous stories and focusing on Michael and his descent into Darkness was a brilliant move.

        Michael is empathetically loathsome.

It is the classic case of someone doing the wrong things for the right reasons.

It is a fascinating look into someone’s fantasy version of the mob, and as I understand it, the movie changed the way the actual mob did things, to some extent.

Being from the American South, I felt a kinship with Michael and his family, based as it was on a culture of Honor. I would not have handled things the way Michael handled them, but I understand why he took the measures he did.

      • R C Dean

It’s been years (and now I want to watch them again), but I recall liking the second one better.

Second Suthen’s comment on Clint Eastwood movies, too.

  17. Beau Knott

    Mornin’ all.
    Happy B’day Hayek!

    • Gender Traitor

      Good morning, Beau!

    • Not Adahn

“Man, these old eyes ain’t what they used to be.”

    • cavalier973

“Hey, Commander! Try this gun out and see if I should buy it!”
      *steps back and raises camera*

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

Perhaps the CO was John Larroquette and the Lance Corporal who handed him the weapon was Bill Murray in this particular situation.

    • R C Dean

I mean, who set up that rifle for him? The scope is backwards, the foregrip is way far back. His form, of course, is utter crap – I haven’t seen a chicken wing like that since , well, I don’t know when.

  18. juris imprudent

Morning all, I’m hitting the road for Chicago to visit son & grandson, be offsite for a few days. Keep the place nice in case visitors drop by.

    • cavalier973

      Four day weekend!

    • Fourscore

Stop in and say hello, if you have time for a side trip.

  19. Tres Cool

    • Gender Traitor

Homey! Are you really moving out of the ‘hood??

  20. hayeksplosives

    Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I’m back in bed after drinking a bottle of cold water.

I don’t know why but I love drinking water from a cold glass bottle. Just regular tap water. I try to keep a couple of wine bottles full of water in the fridge at all times.

Present me is thankful to past me for filling the bottles yesterday, so present me refilled them to benefit future me.
