TAX BURDEN BY STATE: Okay, data visualization nerds, the good folks over at Visual Capitalist have a treasure trove of infographics, including the one above. Knock yourselves out.
HUNTER BIDEN TO STAND TRIAL ON FEDERAL GUN CHARGES: Federal appeals court denies interlocutory appeal to have the charges dismissed. The charges are themselves bullshit, but it would be delicious if SCOTUS overturns his presumed conviction on 2A grounds; heads will asplode like the aliens in Mars Attacks. Your word for the day is interlocutory.
HOW TO TALK TO YOUR NORMIE NEIGHBOR ABOUT ELECTION INTEGRITY: The Federalist has a script for that. Assuming you actually talked to your neighbors. Amirite, Sloper? Link has been fixed.
FIRST CREWED LAUNCH OF BOEING STARLINER DELAYED YET AGAIN: This time it wasn’t entirely Boeing’s fault. The launch was originally planned for May 6, but has now been rescheduled for May 17 (subject to change, of course). The problem was a relief valve in the United Launch Alliance second-stage Centaur rocket. ULA is a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Boeing. FWIW, the first-stage Atlas V rocket uses a Russian-built engine.
NUMBER OF LESBIAN BARS DECLINING IN THE US: “Owners share why they must be protected.” (Sorry for linking to state-affiliated media.) The article is from 2021, so it is unknown how many of these places are still open; a different article from 2022 claims 27 operating Lesbian bars. Gay bars in general are having a tough time, because of the acceptance and normalization of LGB people in America, and the existence of online dating apps. FWIW, Babe’s in Richmond is still open. “…, Batman”
Is Jetpack a conspiracy?
You seem to be the only person having an issue with Jetpack.
I don’t care if I get to be Jet Boy.
So you are saying it’s a conspiracy?
Well, it’s not a toomah.
I’ve seen Jetpack referenced on the back-end (heh) controls for this site, but have never clicked on it since WordPress is evil.
It keeps flagging IP’s, “Jetpack has locked your site’s login page”.
Okay, thanks. I’ll pass this up to WebDom.
I get that if you try to TOR into the site.
Are you using a VPN?
Maine is worse than California?
I think because of property taxes.
I was surprised too – they did get a crazy liberal governor a few years ago.
Maine has not made income tax changes in several years.
Here’s the source. Maine property and sales taxes are higher as a percentage of income than California’s.
Didn’t he leave the gun in a public trash bin?
“The Federalist has a script for that.”
Do they have a link to it?
The script mostly concerns tax burdens.
The higher the burden, the lower the integrity.
I think there is causation there, but you’re flowing in the wrong direction.
The link has been fixed.
Thanks.
I sent in another article a couple weeks ago.
Oy! I’ll tend to it. I’ve been busting my fat ass getting my own story ready.
Also, Jimbo is ahead of you in the queue.
Thanks but damn it, Jimbo?
We need to pope that bubble!
It’s gotta be ghostwritten.
I’ve been doing pretty well lately and was able to splurge for a new box of crayons (The big 52 colors WITH built in sharpener).
Poseur. The sharpener comes with the 64 pack.
@Mojeax
I’m a Memphis State Grad! Any number over 20 is all theoretical to us.
I blame the lockdowns.
https://www.pasenategop.com/news/senate-republicans-secure-passage-of-historic-tax-cuts-for-working-families/
PA is set to drop a little bit.
Suck it, everyone else.
Do unmarried people get tax relief?
AFAIK, it applies to everyone.
And yet the link crows about “tax cuts for working families”, as though those of us in a family of one should be ignored.
I assume that’s the spin from this.
We’re still on track to eliminate the individual state income tax here across the border. And we have constitutional carry and legal recreational marijuana (that you can’t buy yet).
My understanding from people who live in Virginia is that the old black market supply chains are still humming right along. And denying the state revenue.
With the way the rumblings have been going, the medical dispensaries may be able to start recreational sales before the end of summer.
My PA income tax can’t drop any further. SocSec, IRA withdrawals and pension payments are all tax-free.
PAY YOUR FAIR SHARE!
Has to make it through the House, which is majority D so don’t spend your savings yet!
Yeah…I know…

It’ll die in the House or be vetoed.

I remember my wife and I taking our Swiss friend to “The Gay Nineties” in Minneapolis to see a drag show. To get to the 2nd floor stairs (where the drag show was) you had to go through the men’s restroom. Ohhh, the wretchedness this this innocent farm-boy saw.
Narrow gays?
More like wide gays.
I resemble that comment.
Back in the olde dayes my folks used to the Gay Nineties, they called it slumming. Washington Ave had a lot of low end entertainment. I was never in the ’90s but I did go to the Folies Bergere in Paris, though not even close to the same.
When I learned about gay restroom sex I was grossed out. I’ve never done that and never gotten the appeal of the thing. I may have done some ill-advised hookups with people I’d just met, but never anonymous sex. I’m like the worst homo ever.
*Sad trombone*
I get anonymous and unanimous mixed up
I’m okay with that. Self-respect and all.
Sad trombone is better than rusty trombone
Welcome to the club. Still grosses me out, still don’t get glory holes or most anonymous sex. Pseudonymous, maybe, depending, but geez. Grindr has taught me to be wary, to put it mildly, of guys stepping out on their girlfriends/wives/partners. /rolls eyes/
Man. You two are really just making gay people sound normal. 🙂
Same. Gross.
Gloryhole
Super NSFW
Am disappoint.
Between the gay sex in the gents’ and the lines of coke in the ladies’, it’s amazing anyone gets out of the restroom alive…
Hmmm… I’m not sure I agree with that Ohio tax rate, unless they’re taking the average for the state. Sales tax in my neck of the woods is already at 8% (with the state sales tax included, highest in the state IIRC), and I’m in a city with 2% rates. I’m lucky in that since I’m WFH, I’m considered to be in the same city for working and living. If you work and live in different cities, you get to pay local income tax to both, and it can be over 4%.
I guess that methodology makes sense.
In CA, it depends much upon the purchase price of one’s house (and thus usually length of ownership).
And I don’t pay the 4% or 5% city tax that NYC residents pay so… it’s a bit inaccurate to paint the entire state with one figure.
Golden Pussy Delusion.
(Note to self: NH>>VT)
Did they make a movie of Lesbian Jungle? I’d like to find a DVD copy. For research purposes of course.
Here I figured the Lesbian Jungle meant they were the ones who don’t shave.
I will have a special link for you next week.
AND BY SPECIAL, MEAN…
As long as it isn’t a documentary. Ewww.
Queer experimental documentary cinema, 127 minutes, all talking heads. And you get strapped down with lidlocks on your glazzies and have to watch.
Beethoven too?
How the hell does ‘talking heads’ go with ‘experimental cinema?’ Are they speaking in Klingon?
They stop making sense almost immediately.
Weird, I would have thought that the girls just want to be with the girls?
It looks hot and steamy and more than a little bit moist.
Has to be a joke in there about the business model for bars where women are expected to pay for drinks.
That’s not funny!
Let alone lady’s nights.
I’m going to stand on my Joe loses to Trump and pardon’s Hunter on the way out prediction.
I really hope you’re right. It would be a small price to pay to be rid of those two.
Honestly, Hunter is a coked out victim of his Father’s criminal organization. I’m fine with him getting pardoned and sent to rehab.
I’m not. I want him treated like every inner city person who faces the court system.
It’s what I’d like to see for them as well.
Hunter in federal prison hanging out with the underprivileged youth charge with gun and drug crimes.
Or SCOTUS overturning the gun laws on 2nd amendment grounds.
Win/Win in my mind.

Plot twist: These “lesbians” have penes.
The nornie neighbor link goes to the tax burden article.
I’ve managed to move beyond nornie neighbors. Now mailbox conversations are about what caliber they were just shooting in their backyard.

“HOW TO TALK TO YOUR NORMIE NEIGHBOR ABOUT ELECTION INTEGRITY”
It’s 2024, it should be easy to come up with a voting system that most people can agree is secure. But they haven’t done that, in fact nobody in power is really talking about it at all. Which means this is exactly how they want things.
“I’m most interested in the voting system that will continue to get me re-elected and roll me over into a cushy K-Street job.”
-Congressman Schmuckatelli on truth serum
This is exactly why I never supported “campaign finance reform”. Why the hell would we trust someone to pass a law that makes it harder for them to keep their job?
I am busting tail at work and missed a whole great thread that Raven Nation did. Poop.
Rufus is proud of you.
Grrrrrrr… Taxes.
Got a letter in the mail today that on top of the $5,000 check we sent to Biden’s IRS, we get to pay a $220 penalty for not estimating correctly.
Fuck Joe Biden!
Good news! There are LOTS of IRS agents standing by to render aid and assistance.
AND BY RENDER, MEAN…
I’ve been seeing articles about how the IRS is going to be greatly increasing the number of audits.
Not to worry though. Only “the wealthy” will be affected.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/irs-plans-audit-increase-who-will-be-targeted/
Anyone earning over $600 is wealthy.
I always expected travel nurses to be audited due to the crazy money flying around from 2020 to early 2022 (and there were definitely cheats), but Ibhaven’t heard that happening of a big scale or at all really.
Apple’s Crushing iPad Ad Trashed By Hugh Grant, Justine Bateman & Almost Everyone Else
I like it.
The advert is teh awesome.
That’s a rough picture of Justine Bateman. And if the iPad was around at the time, maybe Hugh Grant never would have had his trouble with Divine Brown.
I’ll never forgive him.
The fool.

Is “monopoly” another one of those words that doesn’t mean what it used to?
They have a monopoly on iPhones.
and fan-bois.
I’d like to hate it, because a trumpet can be recreated on a computer, with no actual, honest, skilled trumpeting needing to be done.
OTOH, like self-publishing, good, original music can be made by a talented individual or a couple of individuals with a much lower barrier of entry from songwriting to production. See the blond dude in “St. James Ballroom” … “I like it when you push the buttons.”
Likewise, my extraordinarily talented artist friend can work on her iPhone when she’s out and about, instead of having to wait until she is home to flesh it all out in ink and paint. I’ve been with her at a gallery where she’s working away, being brilliant. On a fucking phone.
I kind of see the evolution of computer-generated music a natural extension of the development of the electric guitar and then all the pedals and whammy bars and suchlike. Anything to get the sound in someone’s head into someone else’s ears.
AI art … well, maybe now I can have a chance to see my characters with my eyes instead of my head without having to pay someone a shit ton of money or learn decades of skill in a year or two.
I can’t even browse Glibs on a phone without cursing at the thing.
I can’t imagine trying to create something.
She has a stylus, but I admit my flabbers were gasted, watching her do that.
I wrote several posts on my phone. It was torturous.
Later I foolishly tried ti write on an iPad. It was balls. So glad I switched to an actual computer.
No doubt a computer is preferable, but I’m grateful to have a phone to write on when I’m out and I can’t whip out a paper and pen. Like that 2500 words I vomited into my phone at the TSO concert.
Auto-predict (NOT -correct) for both.
My wife will write 4-5 page white papers on her phone just like she was texting, and I have no idea how she can keep her thoughts straight doing it. I, on the other hand will design a tri-fold pamphlet on my 12″ screen laptop, where she would need three monitors hooked up together to see every possible variation.
“Lesbian jungle”?
*searches for pith helmet*
Do you know what pith is?
Yeth, thur.
I have a pith knife.
If you’re not careful, it’ll cut the pith outta your hand.
This should be interesting.
Minnesoda’s state constitution says that farmers don’t need no stinking

It’s still astonishing to me that me buying raw goat milk is illegal.
I’m about to keel over after a couple tornado warnings and a couple severe thunderstorm warnings that lasted until about 3:30am. Couldn’t nod off until all the warnings cleared and the radar looked relatively benign. Trying to stay awake until at least 9pm.
However, by this time tomorrow, the patio will be all set up. Perhaps I shall zoom from my new outdoor living room.
Is the pup OK?
Oh – he had a HORRIBLE night. Up all night, panting in the corner. So much thunder & lightning. Even when the rain was winding down, the lightning wouldn’t stop.

Thundershirt?
One of my fave AC/DC songs.
Poor buddy. My GSD was an absolute disaster during storms. One time we couldn’t find her and it turned out she had gone down to the basement bathroom and managed to wedge herself behind the toilet!
And that was in a house. I gotta believe an RV is even more intense.
First. First. First it all out.
These are the Firsts that I dream about.
Come on.
Yea baby
Como on.
There is so much you lake.
This is a bit newer – but it is still state controlled media – and it has pics of Minnesoda lesbians!
Seems like that 29 lesbian bar number might be an urban legend. Seems like any article it is 27 or 29. And it spans several years.
Minnesoda lesbians don’t just hang out at Duluth Trading?
Duluth Trading’s grundies aren’t masculine enough for them?

PSA:
These are the best.
For dudes or chicks. I won’t judge.
It’s tempting to snark about it. “You couldn’t keep the doors open for two years; not much of a community going on…” But I’ve known enough bar owners (and ex-bar owners) that I’m not gonna do that. Bars and taverns are a really, really, really tough business.
“I basically lived there,” Burton said.
Honey, if you spent that much time in a bar you likely have bigger issues.
You ever notice that there are always, and I mean always, more dudes than chicks at a bar.
That might hold true for lesbians, too.
Freelance daycare
A Northern California man paid a random homeless woman $20 to babysit his granddaughter as he got drunk, touching off a massive law enforcement search for that girl, authorities said.
Jason Warren, 54, gave that homeless woman $20 on Monday to take his granddaughter to a thrift store while he went into a nearby bar for four hours, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff’s statement.
——-
“The female confirmed that Warren had given her money to take the child to the thrift store. She went on to tell Deputies that Warren was highly intoxicated and she did not think he could care for the child,” the sheriff’s statement said. “The female took the child to her ‘camp’ to get food. Deputies spoke with the child, who corroborated the ordeal.”
The girl did not appear to be physically harmed by her stay with the homeless woman, 34-year-old Lauren Jope.
That sounds like the beginning of a heartwarming romance.
What kind of crappy bar is he drinking in?
A reputable establishment would have an arcade in the back for the kids of the patrons to spend their quarters. Everyone wins!
So crappy their pool team always lost.
/used to play in a bar league that Cinders had a team in.
They just didn’t have the right players.

Quite the deal!
For all of you who want a good price on some ink AND to get on the Timberwolves bandwagon.
When Pi Bar shuttered in fewer than two years after its 2007 debut in the Seward neighborhood, it left Burton and other LGBTQ women in the Twin Cities with limited options for other safe places to come together.
If it was so incredibly popular, why did it close?
White supremacy and homophobia. And of course Trump. Duh.
Trump killed all the lesbians. This Is Known.
He may have. They are all queer now.
It was so crowded, nobody went there anymore?
It’s also worth noting that New Hampshire does not have a regular income tax, but does charge a flat 4% on interest and dividend income according to the Tax Foundation.
It’s going away. This or year or next year, I can’t remember.
And yet, start talking with your neighbors about the nuances of election law and administration (or just mention the word “audit” or “provisional ballot”) and their eyes probably glaze over.
Their eyes glazing over is probably the best outcome.
https://arbcpa.com/new-hampshire-legislation-reduces-corporate-taxes-eliminates-personal-income-tax/
Interest & Dividends Tax
New Hampshire has long claimed its name among other income-tax-free states. But, because the state levies taxes on interest and dividends, that has not been 100% true historically. However, the Granite State is phasing out interest and dividends tax. For taxable periods ending before December 31, 2023, NH will levy Interest & Dividends Tax at a rate of 5%. For taxable periods ending on or after December 31, 2023, the rate decreases to 4%. The rate continues to decrease by 1% per year. By 2027, personal income in New Hampshire will truly be tax-free.
Nice.
That’s old. The phase-out schedule was sped up.
I looked it up. Repealed effective Jan. 1, 2025.
Brief announcement: I may have been inebriated when I picked and reviewed tonight’s film. Honestly I did want to celebrate a small film producer from Argentina. At the very least there should be considerable snarking at the special effects and script.
For all I know, it’s Javier’s favorite film! He could be a serious schlock fan….
Dude. He’s not going to date you.
He’s going to date me and be my papi forever.
That’s the spirit!
