Saturday evening shotgun wedding links

WebDom and l0b0t aren’t related, so they’re considered upper crust around these parts.

Yes, it has been an excellent week here in Glibs Gulch. Our very own WebDom and l0b0t are now hitched. OMWC had to borrow a shotgun. I am one proud Druncle. On top of that, Rosie the Magnificent is about to pop out a pile of large, inbred, retard pups. What a week!

But it will not stop, the Links!

We’ll get him with our secret weapon. Far right retards!

The stock market has become a straight up roulette wheel.

How does he find time for it?!?

No. Fucking. Shit.

SPACE SMITH SHOULD NOT HAVE EATEN ALIEN SHIP. NEEDS TO TAKE BIG SHIT. VORGONS NO TASTE GOOD.

Nigel speaks the truth out loud.

Lift moar. I am constantly amused when something that has been proven over millenia becomes a “new” thing.

I don’t know that I could handle the gloriosity that would ensue from all the exploding heads if she comes down on Trumps side.

Okay, I’m out. It’s hot and sweltering today. Spud needs a cool beverage.

l0b0ts gonna get laid!!!

Hipsters in College Town now probably throw quinoa. Which is probably preferable to eating it.

  2. kinnath

    I love the Satellites.

      ROCK AND ROLL!
I think I saw them open for Bob Plant back in the day.

β€œWhat he said was completely wrong and only plays into Putin’s hands,” said Sunak. β€œThis kind of appeasement is dangerous for Britain’s security.”

    Appeasement?

      • rhywun

Well, Britain is Putin’s next stop after Ukraine duh.

    • rhywun

The platitudes issue out of the larynx without conscious thought from everyone in that article… Orwell had something to say about that.

      • Spudalicious

And the latest poll shows Farage ahead by 27%.

      • rhywun

My first thought was “how out of touch are these idiots?”

It’s the same shit on every issue.

Watch them fumble around in surprise when the proles decide they don’t want to triple their electric bill, for example.

Congratulations! on the marriage, get ready for a ride,

    • R C Dean

Well, he did finish with β€œ l0b0ts gonna get laid!!!”.

      • rhywun

I like that he saved himself for marriage.

Researchers are warning that geoengineering efforts to help cool temperatures in California could trigger heatwaves in Europe, a “scary” implication given the sheer lack of regulation controlling such measures across the globe.

Only a global socialist dictatorship can save us.

    • juris imprudent

Composed entirely of experts with no accountability – the Platonic ideal!!!

  6. The Late P Brooks

The team examined computer models of the climate in 2010 and 2050. They simulated geoengineering operations in the north-eastern Pacific and near Alaska, but found that “teleconnections,” which link climate systems in disparate parts of the world, may actually make the situation worse instead of better by the latter half of the century.

First thing we do, let’s kill all the butterflies.

    • Fourscore

      Leave the bees alone.

Remember the big scare of a few years ago.

We’re all gonna die because there will be no bees to pollinate the food sources. The price of bees at the bee store have stayed close to static for the past 4-5 years, not even much inflation built in.

  7. DEG

Bamman suggests resistance training twice a week. Three times is even better, and he recommends non-weight-training days in between. For instance, work out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and let Tuesday and Thursday be days of rest.

Sounds like one of the programs from “The Barbell Prescription”. Someone here spoke well of that book. I picked it up and it is good.

    • Spudalicious

It is. It doesn’t even have to be heavy resistance training. If you go lighter, go more reps.

      • R C Dean

I’m less interested in bulk from heavy weights than the benefits of reps of lighter weights.

      • Spudalicious

Long fiber versus short fiber. Heavy weights, lower reps for short fiber. Sheer strength. Light weight, longer extension and more reps works long muscle fibers. I am no expert whatsoever, but what I’ve found over my lifetime is that two days of lighter weight and higher reps, and a day of heavy lifting and lower reps is a nice balance. Strength increases without sacrificing flexibility.

  8. rhywun

    Far right retards!

That article reeks of someone punking WaPo.

    • Spudalicious

      It really does.

    • Suthenboy

Weren’t they the ones publishing the results of one of the fact-checkers fact checking the Babylon Bee even after it was pointed out to them a few times that the BB was a parody?
      Cant get one past them….

  9. R.J.

β€œ OMWC had to borrow a shotgun.”

I thought all Glibs had a minimum of ten guns.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

Those damn boating accidents. . .

    • R C Dean

      *counts on fingers*

Whew! Of course, the cornea in my right (dominant) eye is so scarred up I haven’t shot anything since last year.

  10. Sean

    @Chafed, from the dead thread…

That P229 is an excellent choice.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

My first 9mm was a P228 (sam ting). My requirement was “fit my hand”.

      • R C Dean

That is in many ways the first requirement, and one way too few people take into account.

    • Chafed

Thanks Sean. I did my best to research it before the purchase. While reviewers have their favorites, I didn’t see anyone who had a bad word to say about it.

  11. The Late P Brooks

Remember the big scare of a few years ago.

There was never any shortage of bees, as far as I could tell. They’re cute, too. Fuzzy little guys with a tongue unrolling like a New Year’s Eve party favor. Sometimes when you let them land on you and walk up and down your arm, it feels like they have cold feet.

    • Suthenboy

There was a problem with Varoa mites back in the ‘late 70s, early ’80s. Like the nile virus in the bird population it took a few years but the population adjusted and recovered.

  12. The Late P Brooks

It’s hot out there. Like somebody decided to switch the setting to “summer” all of a sudden.

I was standing out under the row of trees trying to spot my hawk. I could hear him yelling at me, but I couldn’t quite pick him out through the leaves. All of a sudden, he took off, and for a second I thought he was going to swoop down and rip my face off for invading his space. But he didn’t.

    • rhywun

We’ve had something like 7 days over 90 – bit much for June. Looks like some relief tomorrow.

    • Chafed

You own a hawk? For real?

  13. Aloysious

    Drunkle?

That’s cool, but I thought you’d make an excellent avuncular.

    • Spudalicious

OMWC tagged me with that, so I’m just going with it.

      • PudPaisley

        How about a Funcle Druncle?

Like an uncle, only funnier and drunker.

Our Kenmore dryer of 12+ years conked out today. Drum turns, no heat. Doesnt seem to be anything of the thermal fuses. Interwebz guides me towards a bad control board.
Soliciting recommendations for a brand if I do replace it. I think Suthen pointed out that Maytag is junk anymore. I dont know if Kenmore has any modicum of reliability.

    • The Bearded Hobbit

As a WAG I’d say heating coil. If you have an ohmmeter disconnect the wires to the heating element and measure the ohms. Should be something like 10-15. Any other reading is a toss and replace.

    • Suthenboy

Speed Queen. They are what Maytag used to be. Someone here recommended them to me a few years ago. It was sound advice.

      • Tres Cool

That was my next step, but required much more disassembly than I was willing to do today (remove the top, front, and ancillary parts) to access it.
30+ sheet metal screws I had to remove to access both fuses in the back was enough of a PITA.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

Check the coil, 85_200 ohms is good, otherwise shit can it,
      Cheers!

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Other persons reading are in correct

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

That makes more sense…. 10-15 is very small resistance for something you want to heat up.

    • ZWAK came for the two-fisted tentacle-fighting, stayed for the crushing existential nihilism.

Check the breaker, see if it is short cycling. And replace immediately if so.

    • The Hyperbole

Buy some heavy duty braided cotton rope and stretch it between a few trees in your back yard, quit killing the planet with your fancy ‘lectric dryin gizmo’. I’m not sure if you’re from redneck or a hillbilly ancestry but You’re a Daytonite, you should know this.

      • UnCivilServant

    • Chafed

I have had an LG dryer for 13(?) years. So far so good.

      • Gustave Lytton

Same, but probably even longer. I replaced some wear items and seems to be doing fine.

Washing machine is on its last legs. Best guess is bearings needs to be replaced and/or repacked. But drive shaft is probably warped so not worth it to fix.

  16. The Late P Brooks

The instructions did not come from β€œNever Trumpers” hoping to stop the party from nominating a felon when delegates gather in Milwaukee next month. They instead came from avowed β€œAmerica First” believers hatching a challenge from the far right β€” a plot to release the delegates from their pledge to support Trump, according to people present and briefed on the meeting, slides from the presentation and private messages obtained by The Washington Post.

Only the most ethical journalisming possible.

    • Suthenboy

They think they have dumbed us down to the point where we swallow anything they shit out. No one complains much because we all just assume they are lying and hand-waive them away.

The MSM ratings are shit and half of them are on life support and they still dont get it.

    • Evan from Evansville

Scoped it out. YEP. Nothing attributed. No quotes, no titles, relevance. Just shat out.

Sadly predictable. No lessons will be learned. Especially if local Republicans feel the spark to flood the polls with their discontent. The states’ People doing so en masse would certainly making Fortification trickier. Far more visible. I’ll still chomp on my prepped popcorn stash. Hopefully that’ll weaken the strain of my inability to alter a damn thing about it all. (Folk in my ~ish demo are the most eager to riot. Seems the well-armed are the group ya’d want to keep content enough to ease their fears. Were I in Power, I’d be wary. Meh.)

    • Don escaped Texas

      release the delegates
nobody wants releasing: they are thrilled with the orange garbage person

old Republicans were principled but impotent
new Republicans are unprincipled but running downhill
as Trump2.0 approaches, one wonders what random horseshit will result

    • Gustave Lytton

Undermining the elected will of the “people” is ok when we do it.

    • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

OH no, the people we don’t like plan to do exactly what we want!

I just don’t buy any of this, even if the texts really exist, it could be literally two randoms talking with no real plan or power.

  17. R C Dean

β€œOur very own WebDom and l0b0t are now hitched.”

    Woo-hoo!

β€œOMWC had to borrow a shotgun.”

That’s just sad. Allow me to recommend a Beretta 1301. Ozzy would concur, I’m sure.

    β€œI am one proud Druncle.”

    As you should be.

β€œOn top of that, Rosie the Magnificent is about to pop out a pile of large, inbred, retard pups.”

My favorite kind. You go, Rosie!

What’s the wildest/most delicious variation on eggs benedict you’ve had?

I was thinking crab cakes instead of Trudeau bacon.

    • KK, Plump & Unfiltered

Or maybe lobster. Then I could be Lobster Woman

    • Mojeaux

I have never had a variation. Why mess with perfection?

That said, I’d go for salmon instead of ham. Salmon with hollandaise sauce…nom nom nom.

      • Homple

Smoked white king salmon, to be exact.

      • Mojeaux

        Extra lemon.

    • westernsloper

      Brisket Benedict.

      • Mojeaux

That would require a horseradish sauce, not Hollandaise.

    • The Hyperbole

I substitute toasted rye for the English muffin, thinly sliced grilled corned beef for the ham, Swiss cheese for the egg, and thousand island dressing for the hollandaise, and I add sauerkraut.

      • Ted S.

So none of the ingredients of eggs Benedict.

Why don’t you just microwave some chicken nuggets and call that eggs Benedict?

      • Mojeaux

        He’s just simping for Reuben.

      • The Hyperbole

What’s in a name? That which we call a Reuben by any other name would taste as savory.”

      • Mojeaux

You do not have to sell the glories of Reuben to me. But that’s not even close to the topic at hand.

      • Evan from Evansville

        @Hyp: Humor.

Seems like a perfect breakfast then lunch. Am I the only one on Hyp’s side here? *squints*

    • UnCivilServant

I had a Dixie Benedict – biscuits, fried green tomatos, egg, and I forget what the sauce was. It’s no longer on the menu of the place I had it at.

      • Mojeaux

        Likely sausage gravy.

      • UnCivilServant

I classify that under ‘wildest’. It was fine.

      • KK, Plump & Unfiltered

I normally do that (I say “redneck benedict”) with biscuit, streaky bacon, poached egg, sausage gravy. The addition of a fried green tomato sounds amazing

    • Spudalicious

Corned beef. Your arteries harden as you eat it.

      • Not Adahn

Totally a thing here. Not all diners will have actual non-deli corned beef available year-round, but they will all have corned beef hash at least.

    • Not Adahn

The local diner has two good variants on the menu:

      -smoked salmon (cold-smoked)

-Everything below the poached eggs is replaced with a BLT. That one is obviously the most perfect brunch dish ever.

    Laser rust removal.

In the comments there is a question about would this laser damage bluing. Bluing being an iron oxide. Drach responds that he hasn’t used it on a blued gun.

That Oerlikon cleaned up very nicely.

    • Chafed

      That’s cool

    • R.J.

It would remove it, possibly quite cleanly and the gun or other object would need to be re-blued.

I suspect I made the world’s most perfect corned beef and cabbage today. The potatoes were perfectly firm, the carrots were adequately moistened, the cabbage was softened but not wilted, the beef was corned, and the onions, which I’d seen fit to sautΓ©, were present.

I don’t often yank my own dick around here, but this might be the most delectable corned beef that anyone has ever prepared.

Still gonna cover it in creamy horseradish
