Sunday Morning Home Improvement Links

So I had a whole post put together, all a theme about my weekend working on my rear deck and electrical wiring. Had the pictures, music, everything. So of course, yesterday’s big event derailed it. So I’m leaving all that shit in place and not talking about it. There are graver matters. And there never will be another Richard Simmons.

Birthdays today include a guy responsible for millions of shitty postcards; a presciently named character actor; one of the greatest animators to ever put pen to cel; one of the worst animators to ever put pen to cel; a commie piece of shit who could write a decent song; a president who was born a King; a great scientist I could never take a cotton to; an icon of symbolism, or something like that; a guy who always seemed to show up in my favorite cult films; and one of the icons of my youth, who took a path later that we can all understand.

Links will be a bit sparse, since y’all have plenty to talk about, but I’ll put in a couple anyway…

All assassins and assassin wannabes have to have three names.

Wait, I thought letting him live was the attack on democracy. It’s all so confusing…

Hold up her photo at every Biden rally.

Poor fuck couldn’t even get a couple hours.

“She is at work on a novel about parenting in the age of climate change. “ Says it all, innit?

Is he in heaven? Is he in hell? That damned elusive…. uhhhh…. something.

Well, if we’ve gotten to this, it really is over.

OK, major changeup. No country, no bluegrass, no jazz, no classic Prog Rock. But this just reminded me of someone… and as a bonus, there’s a lot of tiddies.

a commie piece of shit who could write a decent song

    Happy birthday Pete Seeger!

    Or…geez, there are so many!

    • Ted S.

Well, we knew it wasn’t John Lennon.

    • rhywun

      Or…geez, there are so many!

      Right?

I was expecting Billy Bragg but that’s the Gen X talking.

    • Chafed

Absolutely. My first thought was Zack de la Rocha but that seemed unlikely for OMWC.

  3. Stinky Wizzleteats

RIP to Simmons, he put the flam in flamboyant but he also seemed to be a decent human being and he plugged a good cause.

    • rhywun

      Yup.

I remember some appearances on Howard Stern before Howard Stern disappeared up his own asshole. What a good sport Richard was.

  4. PieInTheSky

so who set up the trump hit? the democrats to take him out or trump himself to make himself look like a martyr? or was it the illuminati?

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

My money’s on lone nut combined with Secret Service incompetence. If there is an actual reveal of his politics it’ll be a mish mash of left, right, and crazy.

      • PieInTheSky

i read he was a registered republican

      • Pine_Tree

…combined with the left wing spending several years fomenting both an extremely hostile environment and one where their foot soldiers know the media and legal system will turn a blind eye towards actual violence.

        This is not an accident.

This guy? Yeah, I’m betting on a loner. But all you gotta do is the above, and turn down the protection a bit, and wait for the tail end of the bell curve to do what it does.

      • PieInTheSky

the left has nothing top do with it in this case. only right wing rhetoric can cause violence.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Registered Republican means little for a lot of reasons. His social media profile, something he almost certainly has, should shine some light on the situation.

      • Fourscore

He’s not even old enough to have voted in the last election.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Absolutely PT, all that needs to be done in a nation of 360 million is for someone to put out the word that they want a meddlesome priest out of the way and someone will take up the cause.

      • Drake

Nobody in the Secret Service saying “we should lock-down or monitor that roof top 130 yards from the podium.” Is hard to accept as incompetence.

Maybe a couple of the guys in ninja outfits should have been on the roof instead of backstage with thumbs up their asses.

        Prog logic is amazing.

      • rhywun

That hair article made me want to slit my wrists to make it end.

      • EvilSheldon

Nah. This was a lone nut with a rifle, not an orbital space laser strike.

    • Don escaped Texas

Trump did this to himself. He knew what to do but didn’t do it:

      first you take the guns………..

due process later, at some convenient date

wake up! wake up! ban all assault weapons, people!

his multiple failures have now left him in gogh mode

      Q for Secret Service director?

    • rhywun

Speaking of DEI fails… this chick that her hires pretty publicly hate is finally giving up.

    I am visiting northern Wisconsin.

Strange…. last night I attended an event at a rural bar… about 30 people. Nobody mentioned Trump getting shot. I mentioned it once, and one guy reacted rather energetically … “I do not watch the news.” He actually put his fingers in his ears.

    Seems odd.

I saw several posts on X like that. Sports bars. Airport lounges…. no news about it, nobody talking about it.

    • cyto

In fairness, Wisconsin and Minnesota are not entirely normal.

Hunting and fishing culture. Guns. Football. Socialism.

      • Fourscore

It’s not like gunshots are unusual here.

        “It’s sure is quiet”

        “Yeah, too quiet”

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Don’t let this place throw you, being well informed on politics or even giving a damn about politics is more of the exception than the rule.

    • hayeksplosives

In Washington state, I went to my local pub. There were a few people talking about it. All the TVs were on sports.

The bartender lady leaned over and whispered to me “Too bad they missed.”

I was stunned into silence for a minute and then decided to speak up that I found her comment appalling and that I intend to vote for Trump. She seemed astonished to hear a person speak against team blue.

      It’s gonna be a long summer/autumn.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

I ‘member when Kevin Smith made interesting movies.

“Hold up her photo at every Biden rally.”

Brilliant. I so want that to happen. Unfortunately, that story will also be forgotten because of other events that happened recently.

    • Suthenboy

They could work it in there. Trump had a go fund me up for the families of the bystanders shot yesterday before the sun was up this morning. Biden wont acknowledge his own granddaughter. That is quite a stark contrast in character.

  11. Grumbletarian

But rather than picking out a board game, puzzle or soft toy of the president’s dog, Navy chose a headshot of the smiling US president to keep in a birdhouse in her bedroom.

The General Social Survey has been asked about pornography since 1973.

    In 1973:
49% favored a ban on porn only for minors
    42% favored a complete ban
10% said there should be no restrictions.

    In 2022:
    68% – a ban for minors
    28% – total ban
    4% – no restriction

    https://twitter.com/ryanburge/status/1812209149679194116

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Not surprising, it was much harder to access pornography back then. Now almost every kid has a porn machine in their pocket.

    • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

I just can’t imagine that only 68% of people think minors shouldn’t have legal access to porn.

In 1970? Sure, lots of pedos then.

      • PieInTheSky

there are many wokie leftists who say porn is ok for kids.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

No doubt, wasn’t every third song give or take back then about grown men creeping on high school age girls?

      • prolefeed

The odd framing of the question was pick total ban, or no ban, or ban only for minors. Not a multiple choice.

      • Mojeaux

16yo me FLUVED that song, so I still like it for the nostalgia. Of course, 16yo me FLUVED Harlequins where the 18yo ingenue was special enough that the 36yo hero was flattened by her existence, so…

    Bryan Cranston
    @BryanCranston
This is a tragic day. We must be honest and acknowledge (with deep regret) that shootings are a common method of conflict resolution in our society. And that there seems to be a confounding disregard for the ubiquity of gun violence. I’m relieved that Mr. Trump wasn’t severely injured, and I hope that he and the attendees seek emotional help to ease the trauma they experienced. My thoughts and prayers go out to the innocent victims of this senseless act.
I believe that we can be better. We need to be better… but at some point, shootings stopped being shocking – and that is what’s shocking.

Another difference about rural Wisconsin…. redbox is still a thing here.

They are gone from my area of Florida. Have not seen one in a few years.

But I suppose it is due to the state of internet access up here. Many folks are on ATT cellular for home internet and get 1.5mbs or less.

    • DrOtto

I just saw a RedBox in the Austin area yesterday and was kind of surprised. The machine itself was very weathered but had recent titles. It seemed to be there more for advertising their streaming app.

It’s all deliberately obfuscating. My guess is all his social posts are already locked down and we will never know more than we do now.

Some school acquaintances will show up months from now and talked about him being a complete commie crackpot who claimed to meet the FBI and shake hands with Biden, and the story will be buried.

They’re saying the ID’d the shooter through DNA…one that seems fast to get results, and two did they use records from private DNA companies? They said the guy had no criminal record.

    • Ownbestenemy

Well if you have a pool of knowns you can match DNA quite quickly

The Golden State Killer says hi.

    • Common Tater

      That does seem suspicious.

“BlackRock has deep ties to Biden, with many former executives and employees being hired to fill his administration.

The BlackRock ad was filmed at Bethel Park High School, which Crooks attended.

‘Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20 year old shooter who tried assassinating President Donald Trump at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last night, was featured in a BlackRock @BlackRock ad in 2023!

In a strange twist, Joe Biden’s longtime advisor, Michael C. Donilon, is the brother of Thomas E. Donilon, the chairman of the BlackRock Investment Institute, the firm’s global think tank.”

    • Gender Traitor

Depends, of course, on when the ad was filmed, since he graduated in ’22.

    • Brochettaward

      Also, 4chan.

But it does seem there was a high degree of incompetence involved here at a minimum.

The FBI will get right on solving this one.

    • Ownbestenemy

Obviously hard to tell from the video but he does pop his head up while looking through his scope. Some serious questions that will get the normal runaround in Congress. ‘Procedures were followed’

“Just three months ago House Democrats moved to strip President Trump of his Secret Service protection if he is convicted.

Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson introduced a resolution that would terminate Trump’s Secret Service protection. The legislation dubbed the “Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act would apply to all Secret Service protectees convicted and sentenced under felony charges.”

Was it a ghost gun, bought anonymously over the internet?

  32. Suthenboy

Y’know how at the close of ceremony graduates all toss their mortarboards in the air? I am imagining a cloud of tinfoil hats in the air.

Re: Blackrock connection mentioned above. Last night or this morning I predicted ‘lone wolf loon’ that will be revealed to have some connection with left wing campaigns, NGO, or political action group. That is exactly who it turned out to be, some unknown who actually has some close peripheral connection with Biden and donated to Biden (at a 20yo?). A true lone wold nut would be Ted Kaczynski. A real unknown schizophrenic who had no political connections or any real connections of any kind. It wasn’t that guy. It was a socially awkward kid who somehow appeared in an ad at his high school in nowhere, USA for a company that has extremely close connections to Creepy Joe. There is a claim that the police sniper was prevented from taking out the would be assassin by the head of the SS, a woman who just happens to be unreachable at the moment.
With shit like this I dont believe in coincidences.

Solid evidence of the Dem’s hands all over this: They fucked it up.

    • Tres Cool

They fucked it up and they wont get a 2nd chance. My theory now is that the “lone wolf gunmen” (actually Antifa since they’re the enforcement arm/SS of the Globalist Soros/DNC) will go after family next. Melania, Ivanka, Don Jr- even the ugly one, better not leave the house until….ever.
They failed at getting him jailed and off the campaign trail. Now they’re playing hardball. This will serve as a warning.

  33. Tres Cool

Either Biden is hopped-up to the point his eyes are goofy, or the lizard eyes are showing.

  34. Tres Cool

He just called the ballot-box a “battle box”.
    Twice.

  35. Wood Chipped Wednesday

How long until we hear “we knew this attack was going to happen beforehand” from some gov organization about the Trump attack

  36. Tres Cool

“On Saturday afternoon, Crooks slipped onto a rooftop location 150 yards (140 meters) from the stage where Trump was speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania. He then began firing an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle, purchased by his father, officials said.”

Well, I think we now have a precedent that says this kid’s dad is going to prison for supplying the gun, right?
    RIGHT?
