I grew up in a town with only one HS, out side of a small Catholic college prep. A few teachers sent there kids there, mostly as they didn’t want the kids to deal with being that kids whose parent was a teacher. Of course, there were a few kids who had to deal with that.
As a kid who went to a private school where their mom taught (Phys Ed, to make it even worse), it was not a pleasant experience.
It is probably different at the high school level. I spent two years in elementary school in the same class where my mother worked as a teacher’s assistant. The upside was the teacher never sent a note to my parents. My kids also went to the same school were my wife worked.
Teachers don’t get paid much, if you don’t believe that, ask one, they’ll gladly tell you.

The local athletic assoc has a concession stand item called a Pepper Belly. A bag of chile cheese Frito’s is opened long ways and a scoop of chile is poured into it, a layer of jalapeno pepper slices(optional) and sprinkled with ground cheddar cheese.

Lately I’ve been saying things are so unpredictable lately I don’t even try to guess what will happen.
But it’s not going out on a limb to say we’re already in a recession and it will become official very soon.
If Kamala wins, they’ll change the definition of “recession” again.
Here’s my take… The economy has been increasingly weird since 2008. The performance of the stock market has diverged from the performance of the economy in increasingly noticeable ways.
Covid accelerated the weirdness, and although the economy has stabilized, it’s still increasing in weirdness.
Anecdataly, my company has been extremely cautious for the past 4 years, even when we were raking in money. We have been under hiring and travel freezes for all but a handful of months since early 2020. Meanwhile, our numbers are about as good as we could ever expect. Layoffs are being rumored at the same time that a second good quarter in a row is rumored.
The fucking retards in charge have been claiming the economy was great while pretending there was job recovery. That practically all the jobs they claimed to have created were in government and/or low wage part-time ones, and that most of those jobs seem to have gone to foreign invaders, if you discount the bullshit overinflated claims, is a tell. They have been masking the recession, and the jobs market is the tell.
BTW, the big layoffs have also started happening all over the place. These were supposed to wait until after the 2024 election was fortified, but these companies are no longer playing along.
Trashy, being tight with spending and having a good bottom line used to go hand in hand, you know.

When I was a kid, we’d buy milk from the neighbor’s dairy. Sometimes it was pasteurized, but if we got there before it was done, we’d just get the raw milk.
3 gallon Tupperware bucket. The next morning Dad would skim off all the cream. Of course he never got all the cream, so you’d end up with little clots of cream in you glass of milk. I remember being so embarrassed when a Town Kid would come over for dinner. Their milk never had those clots.
I’m still a milk fiend. But it has to be whole milk. If I’m visiting, I might drink some 2%. Skim milk? I’ll shiv you for that.

My wife and kids are allergic to the A1 protein, so we go to Braums to get their A2 milk on occasion.
As you can imagine, a lifetime of allergy has caused my wife to avoid dairy like the plague, so we don’t drink much milk in the trashcan.
