The Hat and The Hair Animated: Rerun ep 32

by | Oct 2, 2024 | Hat and Hair | 54 comments

We’re still stuck in the COVID days in this re-run cycle. Also, my audio shit was all fucked up as I’d just changed my PC setup. I ended up hanging a blanket behind my mic to negate that shitty reverb. For those of you familiar with Auquateen Hunger Force, this is when that shows influence started to bleed in a bit more. (That will come to fruition in a later Anniversary episode)

Well. I guess I’ve now been a witness to a state sanctioned execution. Fucking bastards. Fucking bastards.

      • Tundra

Yep. No matter how many times I see it, I can’t believe it.

      • Q Continuum

        Just humans being humans man.

Disgusting vermin that we all are.

      • MikeS

Disgusting vermin that we all are.

        Speak for yourself, perv.

Also; thank you for your work.

    • pistoffnick (370HSSV)

pistoffnick’s law: There ain’t no bad situation that a cop can’t make worse.

    • Evan from Evansville

Nope. Not watchin’ that one. Nosireebob.

    • Q Continuum

      Don’t. Call. The. Cops.

      Don’t. Call. 911.

Get someone to take you to the ER if you need it.

      • Tundra

There was an old man back in my old neighborhood who got away from his care facility. Fuckers are like ninjas.

He had no idea where he was or who he was. He was freaked out and howling down the street. My son and I took him to the ER where the nice lady at the desk was pissed at us for bringing him in, the cops were pissed as well and I was pissed because I missed dinner.

I have no idea what the solution is but this ain’t it.

      • MikeS

One of the few (only?) good ideas I heard from the defund the police retards was social worker-type folks to handle these calls. I think some version of this is the answer.

      • MikeS

        Fuckers are like ninjas.

They very much remind me of my previous dog. He liked to leave the yard and roam, but he knew he wasn’t supposed to. If you watched him without making it obvious, you could see him get a little farther away, look back to see if you were going to say anything. No, OK, a few dozen more feet. Another look. No, OK, a few more feet….

      JFC. I don’t have the words…

    Love the retrospective analysis!

    • Old Man With Candy

      Still in the hotel?

      • KK, Plump & Unfiltered

Oh no – I came home Saturday.

I might get a larger spot in the next couple months!

      • Tundra

        So no damage?

      • KK, Plump & Unfiltered

No – just no communications (other than satellite)

      • Tundra

Oh good. I’ve been late to threads and I was worried.

Give the beast a treat for me.

    • rhywun

No idea who any of those people are but I’m amused that the Project 2025 boogedyman is still paying dividends.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Project 2025, and abortion for that matter, will pay dividends as this isn’t an election about economics.

This is a culture war election. And that is what libertarians like us completely miss.

  2. MikeS

Nice work, CPRM. Loving the re-runs.

I find it suspicious COVID caused your audio troubles. *taps nose* DAMMIT ATHF slipped my mind. I should give that a rewatch. Old, fond memories.
Fuck. COVID and Jan 6 flowing together. It takes a special person to not greedily snort up such Power, with opportunity all lined up for the taking.

Sadly, authority and agency were willingly sacrificed by The People out of fear of the ‘unknown.’ Folk get scared so easily. Politics *is* the New Religion, with a more-visible Sky D̵a̵d̵d̵y̵M̵o̵m̵m̵y̵T̵e̵a̵c̵h̵e̵r̵S̵e̵c̵r̵e̵t̵L̵o̵v̵e̵r̵ Guardian to ‘take care’ of dangers. Humans are pesky creatures. Our herd-mentality is primal and ultimately unstoppable. The Evel Knievels of innovation are necessary for advance, but are easily expendable for daring to think on their own.

    • MikeS

      DAMMIT ATHF slipped my mind.

Did you see the shorts they did a few years back? A kind of revisit thing. It was good stuff.

      • Evan from Evansville

Nah. I haven’t consumed much new media in the past 5 -(ish) 10 years. I’ve been meaning to change that, especially with what I read. What I watch is up there too, but time, (I’d say severe?) ADHD, and now just bein’ busy keep me listening to sports or old, comforting background shows I actively remember. <– Helps follow along w/o paying much attention.

And thanks! It'll do me good to go back and revisit. (For several reasons.)

      • Evan from Evansville

Meh. Everyone has people, groups, teams, etc they detest. And are detested by others. We can hope big tits unite us, but those w/o get greedy. Nature don’t play. All organisms are nasty creatures who will do fuck-off-whatever to survive and (try to) survive. Especially well-fed humans have the luxury of time and the ability to think and kinda-sorta have morality.
Life ain’t easy nor cheap. Eat or be eaten. Adapt or die.

Full disclosure: I eat scraps and… dropped-on -the-floor/etc food when no one is watching. (I’m talking small, dry stuff like peanuts and .. other products. When no one is looking. I’m not THAT uncouth to think I can get away with it. Though I’d do better than Costanza did. (He was in the Right w that donut.)) Waste not!

      • MikeS

        Humans are trash.

        Deeply held view or trolling?

      • Q Continuum

Pretty deeply held view. Specific exceptions of course, but I consider myself pretty misanthropic in all honesty. I see more critical thought process from my cat.

      • MikeS

Appreciate the honesty. My question would be if you have specific exceptions, why do you think those are the only exceptions amongst 8 Billion people.

But, I’m going to bed. I’d love to see you expand upon your belief in an article so I can vehemently disagree in the comments.

      • Q Continuum

        Allow me to clarify:

Perhaps misanthropic is an overstatement, but I do think we (collectively) consider ourselves undeservedly special and consistently give ourselves too much credit. When we bang our heads against the wall wondering “why, oh why do we (again collectively) keep doing X over and over!? Won’t we ever learn?!” (insert favorite super obvious societal pathology here with associated fairly obvious alternatives and solutions)

The answer is no. We won’t ever learn. We’re clever and we’re spectacularly good at rationalization but overall we’re not nearly as smart as we give ourselves credit for. Part of the frustration is constantly having expectations for the human that are too high. So I lowered mine and I’ve been much happier.

      • PieInTheSky

My question would be if you have specific exceptions, why do you think those are the only exceptions amongst 8 Billion people.

easy questions. 95 % of people are NPCs, 5% aren’t. Why? Just wired that way I suppose.

      • Old Man With Candy

It’s the nature of the normal distribution.

      • Ted S.

        Happy New Year, OMWC!

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Meh. If everyone is trash, no one is.

In other words, if everyone is bad, then that is the scale of humanity, and simply writing it off is useless. We are, and we need to deal with it.

      • PieInTheSky

not everyone, just most. And off course you need to deal with how humanity is.

      • Gender Traitor

Hey, U! Wanted to tell you – there was finally a new episode of Forged in Fire last night. A little different format than the usual episodes – they called it “Instruments of Death: Masters of the Siege,” with four three-man teams. Their first assignment: a warhammer! 😃🔨

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean and U, and Shanah tovah, Old Man!

I’m in good shape on my month-end reports and even finished writing up last month’s Board meeting minutes! Even better, I get to leave work a little early today for a hair appointment! 👩‍🦰

      • Gender Traitor

        Thanks! How are you today?

      • UnCivilServant

        I donno.

I got to the store and bought food and got back to log in before the start of my workday.

        I’m not particularly motivated though

  4. Ownbestenemy

Home today waiting for new fridge to arrive. Delivery window: when ever we decide.

Still…home warranty paid out 2500, new fridge was only 1600. I’ll gladly wait all day

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, OBE! I may have overlooked your comments on this – how disrupted were your home and work by Helene?

      • Ownbestenemy

Just water logged lawns for me and a few felled trees along the roads but not much more.

      • Gender Traitor

        👍

      • Ownbestenemy

And you? I know you were more on the outer bands.

Little over a year or so ago we were contemplating that part of NC for our big move.

Fate, divine intervention, luck…whatever it was I am thankful

      • Gender Traitor

We lost electricity, but not until early Saturday evening due to a belated tree fall down the street (long after the wind had died down.) Got power back late Monday afternoon, and no other damage to us or near neighbors, as far as I know. Very lucky!

  5. Fourscore

    Good Morning, fellow Glibsters,

Finally getting through the HH stuff. My neighbor came by yesterday and picked up the last of her folding chairs and serving spoon. Only thing left is a pyrex cake pan my g’daughter neglected to take home.

Almost finished with the leftovers from HH, I can’t keep up with who brought what but I’m still working on the remaining beef sticks. Sure glad FEMA wasn’t involved.

Mrs F is leaving tomorrow for an AZ vacation but only for a few days. I’ll be in charge during the interim.

  6. trshmnstr

    Mornin’ all!

My law firm is finally in the black by two hundred smackeroos! Now I need to figure out how to pay myself 😂. I still feel like I’m missing something with my corporation. Not really sure what it would be, though. I tried to get in contact with a CPA, but she never replied to my email.

I’ve been working with my bank to get a refi on the house, but I havent heard from the mortgage lady since Friday. That’s probably not a great sign since I haven’t actually kicked off the process yet. At least rates seem to be trending in the right direction, so I’m not too worried about delays. Still, a “I’m gonna be out next week, you can work with Bob in the interim” wouldve been nice.

    People should answer their emails.
