Welcome to Audience Appreciation Thursdays! My cool new GIF failed to work in the editor, so you get this Valentine instead!

Hundreds of Beavers

Welcome to the very first audience appreciation Thursday! And who has the pleasure of the 1st movie? It’s *checks notes* Groat Scrotum!  He suggested Hundreds of Beavers, and now we are going to watch it! I have not seen it yet so I am watching it totally blind!

So what is it about? This time I went to Wikipedia, I did not like the oddball summary on IMDb (I cleaned it up a bit. It was written by a caveman):

Hundreds of Beavers is a 2022 American slapstick comedy film directed by Mike Cheslik. It was written by Cheslik and Ryland Brickson Cole Tews. It was inspired by the slapstick comedy of 1920s and 1930s artists. The film stars Tews as an applejack maker in a conflict with beavers, trying to win the hand of a merchant’s daughter.

And hilarity ensues, right? From what little I saw, it’s black and white, and heavy on the slapstick. I know nothing else! We all jump in this together!

Now, as far as the schedule for the foreseeable future, see below. All movies are verified as available for streaming now, but could be swapped out at a moment’s notice should they cease streaming:

So watch! Or don’t! Everything is voluntary! If you hate it, you will all talk about your vegetable gardens anyway! It is Thursday night and there are no rules!

Sorry, I won’t be able to hang tonight. Mom is not feeling herself. So I’m going to spend time with her.

    • R.J.

Tell her I hope she feels better soon. Everyone over here has a light cold.

      • Common Tater

Thanks, will do. She’s sipping water now. I’ll put her to bed in a few minutes.

  2. Common Tater

    “Chopping Mall: Count Potato”

I think that was Rhywun? I’ve seen it and it’s worth watching. It’s very 80’s.

    • R.J.

It was you. I have a detailed list.

      • Common Tater

OK, I probably said it’s a good Thursday movie. Which it is.

    • rhywun

I probably wholeheartedly agreed because I love that movie.

      • R.J.

I will make sure you both get credit.

  3. Aloysious

    Cool. i like beavers.

Nice picture, RJ. You look extra sexy.

    *karate punches play button*

  4. Aloysious

    dammit. Now I’m thirsty.

  5. slumbrew

    “TRANCERS TRANCERS TRANCERS: Slumbrew”

    YES.

Can you dig it? Can you dig it? CAAAAN YOU DIIIG ITTTT?

(Different movie, obs, but that’s how I feel)

  6. Aloysious

I’d fall for that snow bunny.

  7. Aloysious

    Those are some mean beavers.

This looks and sounds amazing. Hope to be back ’round in time. *MY* FEATURE PRESENTATION is… a Kidney Stone! I felt it earlier on the way to work, but in my ‘stomach’ and ‘back.’ Wasn’t on the right side as my appendix, but in that same spot on the left. I could also feel something in my back and starting thinking… ooh. This could be a kidney thing… At the clinic, I could tell something was up with my piss. Dark yellow, but only ‘dark’ cuz I’ve been well-hydrated all day. Shoulda diluted down. Had a bit of a piss odor. Hrm. My diagnosis was more plausible. And yep. They detected urine in the blood, and CAT scan revealed my first kidney stone. Dad’s had several and kinda loves talking about ’em. He is secretly glad, having joked about wishing me/bro would get one to feel it. Well. I’m the guinea pig. Seems fair. I’m much more like him than bro.

I plan on passing it with dignity and grace. (Somewhat. It’s going to suck. All I have to do is out-Man Dad.) It’s 5mm, with 6mm apparently needing in-person aid. So I’m guessing it’s gonna be extra shitty. I hope it’s a polished rock, a twitty Brit passin’ through the waves, complete with top hat and monocle. My stone needs status. This Glibby Stone requires a stately presence. I shall ensure its bearing is given proper weight.
It took me some inner convincing at work to take 15 to get a handle on it, actually 30, and I felt quite guilty ‘taking off.’ I called to let ’em know and I have tomorrow ‘off.’ Meaning I work next on Tuesday. This isn’t good for me. I also did my first venipuncture at the new place today! Hilariously it went incredibly well and incredibly shitty. I’m far better at these tasks when they’re everyday rather than occasionally.

The oddities, quirks and insanity of Life are nothing but predictable. They will always exist and you can always accurately predict their unpredictability. They won’t *become* predictable just for you. Sit down, foolish humans.

    • R.J.

“I plan on passing it with dignity and grace.”

      HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, best of luck. When the fevers start you are getting close.

      • R.J.

Well, the people who signed a contract on my house pulled out. I am sad and happy at the same time. Their offer sucked. Maybe next time. Any Glibs want to move to Texas?

      • Sean

        Ewww. No. 😛

      • slumbrew

        Sorry dude, that’s still annoying.

      • Evan from Evansville

I am aware this is going to be unpleasant. My family knows I have honed a 0-10 Pain Chart I use to assess pain. I’ll be honest in my assessment of a 5mm kidney stone. It shall go on the rubric where it belongs. This will be interesting. Unpleasant, yes! Still interesting.

Dad’s secretly happy I (or older bro) got one to compare. I’ll give an honest assessment and take a pic.
I wonder why it will go on my pain scale. Hilarious, CVS had to get a mgnr to talk to me about my 7.5 hydros. If I’m not finished with ’em, I was instructed to bring them back for CVS to “take care of.” Uh. Huh. Gotcha.” (‘Cupcake, you’ll never hear from me again!’)

I’m takin’ all my meds now. Currently, I can feel the bitch movin’ thru trafffic, but still ’bout where my navel is. Interesting night, indeed.

      • Common Tater

” I was instructed to bring them back for CVS to “take care of.” ”

        That’s retarded.

      • Evan from Evansville

It’s the dumbest shit possible, as I have a million uses for it now or later. Let alone street value if one were to be into such. Were I in the pharmacy industry, I would likely make sure it was my business to be into such. Who’s to know just *how* many pills they actually gave back? Most of them were probably aspirin from when the stupid fuck dropped a bunch and couldn’t tell the difference when he sorted ’em.
(“Duh, “he,” your honor. Only a man is so stupid.” <– Nice and safe for all.)

But they guy HAD to say it. He had a (nervous?) facial tick/twitch. He was younger than me, and an Evan is only 37. The things we have to say at work re: health+ is exhausting and pointless, other than to say we said it. Uh-huh. Great law, guys who really don't intend the law to be followed. Well-crafted! Modern legalese is quite Suessian in the twists and turns of logic and reasoning. (The missing bits make the roller coaster.)

      • Common Tater

It also does nothing about the opioid “crisis”.

      • Evan from Evansville

Listen Tater, I was given a two-page document regarding the dangers of opioids. OK? So there. Crisis over.

      • LCDR_Fish

Depending what they do to get it out, they may give you the option of taking the stone home in a jar – just looking at those jagged things close up makes me hurt.

  9. juris imprudent

Great news for PA – Casey concedes!

As for the movie look-ahead… Runaway Train? That’s an awfully good movie for what is supposed to be bad movie night, isn’t it?

    • R.J.

I play a lot of stuff. Not just poop.
Although lately I have been matching the stereotype.

    • Ted S.

Regarding Golan-Globus/Cannon movies, I’ve mentioned before that Lady Chatterley’s Lover has been on Tubi for a couple of months now.

      • R.J.

Somehow my suggestion list did not have anything from you! I fixed that.

I am disappointed you failed to post Right Said Fred in the comments above.

    • Sean

He went out like a bitch. I hope the stench taints Shapiro’s future aspirations.

      • Sensei

        Memories are short.

    • R.J.

      That is interesting.

  10. ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

My vegetable garden brings all the boys to the yard…

    • R.J.

      Have you got big CAN-telopes?

  11. LCDR_Fish

KS – from dedthread. Pretty sure Gaetz resigning from the committee zeroes out the House investigation (although good chance it’ll still get leaked). It definitely would have been a headliner (and anchor) on any confirmation hearings. Not sure he has any chance of getting a Senate seat out of it, but since Trump just nominated another Floridian (Bondi) for AG, there may be something else in the state open for him as a favor.

    • KSuellington

Thanks Fish. It will interesting to see what he gets. Does DeSantis also get to appoint his House seat?

      • R.J.

It’s a special election for his seat.

      • juris imprudent

Special election. Though technically, Gaetz resigned his CURRENT seat (118th) not the seat he would be sworn into in the 119th. Unlikely he’d try that gambit, but you never know.

    • DrOtto

What, did he do something worse than run rape gangs?

    • SarumanTheGreat

Bondi is a worthless piece of crap. She conspired to fabricate testimony and witnesses to put George Zimmerman away for life. I have no idea why Trump picked her, but the DC crowd have to be loving it.

  12. R.J.

“How much time is left on the movie dad?”

“I have no idea. Seem like it’s been in for a while.”

    “And I love it dad!”

A small fan has been for for this film.

    • Evan from Evansville

      I strongly, strongly approve.

  13. UnCivilServant

Why am I amazed that a combine harvester from the 1970s can not only cut down corn stalks and separate the ears, but remove the kernels from the ears without breaking the cobs all in one machine?

It’s not exactly “wowzers” levels of mechanical automation…

    • Fourscore

A neighbor cut all the corn stalks in my garden, ran them through a wood chipper and chopped them into smaller pieces. Says his cows love it and not the waste he was having when they trampled the whole stalks into the mud.

Unfortunately there were no politicians available .

      • juris imprudent

Unfortunately there were no politicians available .

Cows produce bovine excrement 4×20, they don’t consume it.

    • Common Tater

You should check out Japanese factory ships. They go out on the ocean, and come back with cans of fish.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m watching farming videos right now tho…

  14. Gender Traitor

FINALLY heard from my sister about Thanksgiving plans. Thankfully (heh!) she hasn’t mentioned still being in mourning over the election results, so maybe the gathering won’t be a pity party. 🙄

    • juris imprudent

You can always turn it into a Puddles pity party.

  15. Translucent Chum

Black Friday with Bruce Campbell could have been a Thanksgiving night choice! Zombies attack a store on the busiest shopping day.

    • R.J.

      Yes. Noted.
There is at least six movies called Black Friday. None of them are available for streaming, except for one from the 1930s.

      • Common Tater

I think we did the 70’s one with Margot Kidder.

    • UnCivilServant

Zombies attack a store on the busiest shopping day.

      So, like every year?

    • LCDR_Fish

Technically speaking the Guy Ritchie flick “Wrath of Man” takes place on Black Friday – (great movie) – but you wouldn’t realize it other than the comment on it earlier in the film. Not sure if it’s supposed to be southern CA or somewhere else where there’s zero weather, decorations, etc.

  16. DrOtto

Ugh, the Travis County DA is asking the county for heightened protection due to alleged death threats. This is the same asshole that pushed for defunding the police. If it were left to me, I’d authorize a cell phone that could dial 311 or a social worker in an emergency. That’s about the only option the citizens have.

  17. JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Looks like the Browns are going to let some people down again.

    • R.J.

Are you saying The Browns are swirling down?

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

      Glad to be wrong.

      • Evan from Evansville

The last one is distracting, not quite for the reasons ya’d think. Singaporean coworker in SG looked like her, minus the face. Young, top heavy with a huge ass, skinny ankles, somehow with a ridiculously thin waist. It did not seem natural. Especially since she added a California accent despite never having even visited. She spoke Singaporean English (depending on the listener) and also Malay. Probably another or two.

Knowing Asians and Singaporeans, I would not at all be surprised if some/all had been worked on. They did a helluva job, though never attempted to try to Hail Mary swoon her.

      • UnCivilServant

I was asking if the last photo was AI or at least post processed. There are things about the picture itself that look off.

      • Common Tater

That last pic looks fake. Like she would be 7 ft. tall.

      • rhywun

        Count the fingers.

Yeah, I wouldn’t trust any pics found online anymore.

    • Evan from Evansville

I’ll have one of each, for both sides of opposite coins. Or something.

Tamsulosin, FlowMax for my kidney stone, is an alpha blocker and increases blood flow, including Mr. TopHat down there. There are a few ways to make this even more interesting.

My name is Evan, and I’m NOT your Auto-Loan Savings Guy from Chase.

  18. Gustave Lytton

Back in hotel room. Roku connected this week.

    • UnCivilServant

It’s only raining here. Not supposed to be snow cold until early tomorrow morning.

      • Ted S.

They’re supposed to get several inches up in the mountains.

      • rhywun

Yeah, “heavy snow” is being claimed here but probably only in the hills. Temp is just over freezing.

      • Ted S.

I can see flakes out the window….

      • slumbrew

I can see flakes out the window….

Living in ultra proggie MA, so can I, year round.

    • Ted S.

      Probably because it’s dark.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean, U, Ted’S., and homey!

Got our first snow of the season yesterday. A little bit of accumulation, but mainly the timing made my morning and evening commutes…interesting. 🙄❄❄❄

      • UnCivilServant

Beleive me, that’s not what I meant when I said “may you drive on itneresting roads.”!

      • Gender Traitor

Is that anything like “living in interesting times”? 😳

      • Tres Cool

Got a bit up here. I’ll send ya pics.

      • UnCivilServant

Well, that was part of the inspiration, but in crafting the joke, there was an implication of multiple potential meanings with regards to roads.

      • Ted S.

Where we’re going, we don’t need no roads.

      • Gender Traitor

        Somalia?

  19. Tres Cool

    suh’ fan
